Back to school signals a fresh start for students.
New classmates, new teachers, new lessons.
Change is in the air.
But one thing hasn't changed.
The forward government still isn't investing in public schools.
Six years of cuts mean our students aren't getting the supports they need.
They can't wait another year.
If the forward government won't change, it's time to change the government.
Our kids are counting on us. Join us at Building Better Schools.C.A. A message from the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario.
Hello, I'm Josh Riddickham. And I'm Robbeckin. Welcome to Lockdown Parenting Hell.
The show in which Rob and I discuss what it's like to be a parent during lockdown, which I would say can be a little tricky. And to make a little tricky.
So in an effort to make some kind of sense of the current situation,
and to make me feel better about my increasingly terrible parenting skills.
Each episode will be chatting to a famous parent about how well they're coping.
Or hopefully not. And we will be hearing from you the listener with your tales of lockdown parenting woe.
Because let's be honest, none of us know what we're doing.
Hello and you are listening to lockdown parents in hell with.
Tantan, can you say Rob Beckett.
And can you say Josh Whitticum?
Josh Widdicum?
Yeah, well done.
There we go.
This is from Deborah Guy. That is Tanneth.
I'm a huge fan of the podcast and a listener from the very beginning, so I thought it was about time I asked my two-year-old daughter Tannit to say your names. That's a nice name. Tannin, I've never heard of Tanneth before.
No, a Tantan was a good shortening. Tantan. Tant. Is that what she calls a Tant? She said that in the
recording. Oh, it sounds a bit like drugs though and it's sort of one this weekend. You still know that guy with a tant. Quarlo.
How are you, Rob?
Rob?
Should I just tell this story that I trailed on Tuesday?
Yeah.
I can't believe I've not told this before.
Is this your story about the baby at your gig?
Yeah, I can't believe you've not told it on here before. out second half and initially I just hear a slight baby crying when I'm like
saying a joke yeah and I think that can't be can't be true can it you know
because a lot of these theaters are haunted as well Rob so that's partly in my mind yeah
so then I'm like it happens again I'm like is there sorry is there a baby here and they were like they were like yeah and all the people around them like yeah the there there is? there the the the the the their like like like like their their their there is like there is like there is like their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're is. they're is. they're is. they're is. their th is. the. their the. their theeeeat. their their their their their their their their their their their their their there a, sorry? Is there a baby here? And they were like, yeah,
and all the people around them were like, yeah, there is. And so this is what had happened.
What would you have done? They've got a one-year-old, or maybe even younger, maybe a six-month-old,
or whatever, their babysitter had called in sick just before they were leaving the house? Yeah. So they thought, the the baby, the baby, and th, and th, and th, and that, and that, and that, and that, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thi, thi, thathea, yeah, and their their their their, yeah, and all, and their, and their, and their, and their, yeah, and their, yeah, and their, yeah, and their, yeah, and their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that, that, that, that, their thea, their thea, their their their their their their their their Yep. So they thought, we'll just take the baby.
No, that's not not acceptable.
Get this, they got to the theatre.
I was like, what did they not stop you when you're coming in?
They said they charged us a quid for a baby ticket. A quid? A quid? A quid! A quid! Also, no offence, but that should be your call.
It should be the theatre's call.
It's surely the performance call.
Well I'm going to say it, Rob, I reckon that that quid was just someone going, I'm just
going to chance my army.
That's why.
A quid.
A quid!
A quid!
A today. worries is I don't want to you know do down my performance that night because
it was one it was a lovely show yeah but the baby did manage to sleep through
the whole of the first half which is worrying so so the baby cried a little bit
but then went to sleep the cradle it but the start the second half oh so it
slept through the whole first half yeah and then obviously it got
louder an in it full and then it woke up
all those people enjoyed themselves chatting and laughing
some hubbub there a lot of people going this is fucking dog shit so we just go to the park
and then when you came back out and it all died down again it got shocked by the
changing volume and popped up and it was it awake the whole out of second half? No I think they might have taken it. I thi the the the first their. their. their. their. their. Ha their. Ha their. Ha their. I their. Ha. I their. I their. Ha. Ha. I their. It was their. Ha. It was their. It was their. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. It was. It was. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. their. their. their. th. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. I their. I their. their. I their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their by the changing volume and popped up and it was it awake the whole second half?
No, I think they might have taken it out.
I mean it was astonishing.
That's ridiculous.
You can't do that.
I mean, if that happened to us, you either both don't go or one of you go, I'd just say to Lou, you go, you go with your mate, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, to, their, to, to, their, their, to, to, to, to, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, I'll, I'll, I, I, I, I, I, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, very good at what you do, but it's not like, you know,
when someone's doing their final tour
and they're 75.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
It's not the Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour,
is it?
It's not, I think Josh.
I think Josh, I think Josh.
to thely good time. I went to watch Nottingham Forest in the afternoon.
That was quite a drab game and then I went and performed to a baby in the evening.
I had a lovely day all things told.
What would be great, that is a great anecdote for the child when they're grown up, that they got taken to their first, one one one one one, to, to, to, to, to, to, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, to, and, to, and, and, the, the, and, their, their, and, the, their, and, their, the, the, the, the, their, and, and, their, the, to me, too, to be, to be, to, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, and, and, and, and, and, the, and, the, the, the, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, they. And, too, they. And, too, too, too, they. And, too, too, they. And, they. And, their, get caught up in all the sort of you know
celebslee stuff like you know a bit you treey then the anecdote really takes
on an extra level that they got they got taken to a pedophile show as a baby
and I'm not saying that you should go down that route to improve
that person's anecdote I'm just saying they're the levels and that's totally not. And that I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the that's that's that's that's that's that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their the the tho. the the the the an an an an're a good guy, but if you were to, you know, non-se it up, but that anecdote really starts
to catch light.
I'm going to say, we discussed you stealing from wait troes last episode and things have
really snowballed. Yeah, now I'm accusing.
Now I'm accusing people.
Yeah, I'm not it. No, yeah. Just suggesting. I'm not, you know, obviously, it's really bad.
We're very anti, just to be clear.
I mean, I couldn't be more anti-pedos.
Yeah, they'll never be an about turn on that.
No.
That is the policy of the podcast.
Yeah, and I know when everyone also says, you know, but if you disagree on things, to discuss you with other people and see they're not this one buddy. No, I'm entrenched. I'm concreted in on my view on Nantes's.
Yeah, do you know what, ever since I've known you've had that view, you haven't changed
it once? No, I haven't. Consider it a credit to you. How have you been Rob?
How have I've been? I've been alright actually pretty good. The girl is they're getting busy in the girls, which girls, the girls, the girls, which, the girls, which, the girls, the girls, which, the girls, the girls, which, the girls, the girls, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th, th, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th, th, th, their, th, th, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their thi, thi, their, the. the. thee, their th. the. thee, their, their their thee, Sunday. So it's quite, we've got quite a nice balance.
I do feel guilt though.
They can't, my five-year-old can't swim yet.
She was doing lessons before COVID hit and now we're trying to get her into swimming
lessons but everywhere's booked up.
It's really difficult and I want to summer, you know, does she want to
do them? Is she fussed? She's half mentioned the bike and I think she she loves
swimming and they would want to go so yes I think so because they sort of kids
at school talking about swimming and bikes and stuff but I want to try and
get that sort of it's very difficult to find the time to go and do it. to go to go to go and to go to go to go the time to go to go to go the time to go the time to go the time to go to go the time the time to go the time to go the t to go the t to go to go to go to go to go to go to go the the t to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go time time time time to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go the time the time to go the time to go to go to go to to the time to to the time to the time to to the time to the time to the time to go and the time to go the time to go to go to go why that's my goal this this summer But you can do like book like intensive courses or something where they go in half term every day
They're all booked up
So I don't know what to do like when people do that week long driving thing. Yeah, but I'm thinking because there's two of them and the youngest is three and a half But she's really physically quite capable and confident. I think? I think? I'm tempti physically physically physically physically physically t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm tip te physically physically te physically te physically te physically te physically te physically te physically te physically te physically te physically te physically physically te physically physically te physically physically physically physically te physically physically te physically physically physically te physically physically physically physically te te to to to to to to physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically to to to to to to to physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically physically I I I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm t I'm te physically physically physically physically physically physically te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te tea, I'm tea tea tea tea tea tea tea tea to just splash out on, excuse the pun.
Lovely.
Really nice stuff.
Splash out, you know, and on a instructor that I'll book them to do it in a week
and really, you know, jump in the deep end with it.
And it'll be really single swimming time.
And then let them have direct one on, like one on one with both the girls and
try and get them swimming together together together together together together together together together together together together to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the girls and try and get them swimming together and see if that's, and I might even do, what I might even do is a few other friends have got kids at the same age, get like five,
and then split, try and get four or five kids and split the cost, and then you'll create
your own little class and then you can just go and do it in a public swimming, to'n't thrown. That's nice because we we we we we we we thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thrown. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. throwne, thrown. thin, thin' is thin' is get thin' is get thin' is thin. thin. thin. thin. I get thin. I get thrown. And thrown. And thrown. And thr. And thr. And thr. And thr. And thr. And try. And try. And try. And, try. And, try. And, try. And, try. And, try. And, try. And, try. And, try. And, try. And, don't want to get too late do you know what I mean? Yeah exactly and like to be fair she's still only young and there's been
lockdown and the swimming pools have literally been shut and we had
booked in courses but that's for you can't be too harsh on yourself but
it's something I would like to do in the next by the end of summer I thinne by the end of summer good idea that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the I the the I the the the the the only other thing happened the other day was I bit the five-year-old by accident
when we were playing, we were playing, I know, we were playing, we were playing, we were playing,
we were playing a resting game like that and I was like, you know, when you sort of like,
you're a crocodile, you nibble on them and then just sort of like you can barely see it and she's like oh I've got a mark I've got a
mark and she run to her mom go daddy bit me and I was like this looks bad
like Italian footballer. Yeah look with these chompers. Also it's real it's real do our die time now with the five-year-old's teeth because she's lost the top two when she was younger just in an accident and then the bottom to have fallen out
oh natural out and she now looks like she's a meth ed and the teeth are
coming through and it's it's all about the jeans did she get the becket ones
is she getting a pair of becket jumpers we'll find out in the next year I'd say because she could look for a few years absolutely insane. Well presumably did you have a brace Rob?
Not on the top ones but the bottom ones...
There's nothing that could cage those is it?
I think I'd have to, you know, that metal they try and put around like a superhero
and they're arrested him in X-Men?
Special cage for a magneto. But the bottom ones had an extra two so I had that one taken out and I had a brace in the bottoms but the top ones are pretty straight and they're not that goofy so they didn't need to go back but
but the bottom ones were a bit sticky out so I had a brace in the bottom ones but these
front two ones I had at the age of six and they've been the same size and my head's got bigger luckily but from about six to I looked absolutely it was. It was. It's. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they they's they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's they's they's they's they's they're they're they're they're they're they're they's they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're not they're not they're not they're not to to to to to to to to me to to to me too too too too too too too too too they. they. they're they're they. they're they're You'd see the tooth coming first. Oh, well, you know what? You've made the best, and now, I'd say, I'm more mention your
teeth because I know it's a thing than I ever notice it, if you know what I mean.
Yeah, well, if you type in blonde, big teeth, I'm the first thing that comes up on Google, followed by some absolutely disgusting pornography. I once was in a club. Sorry, I just...
I was about to try blonde big teeth to check your thing,
and then you finished saying what you're saying.
That's why I kind of paused.
I mean, it's off a look.
Someone's saying, I'm not, it's not bad.
I was once in a nightclub, and I saw, you know when you clock people that have clocked
you, but they're trying to work out who you are.
And then they're obviously Googling to try and work out who I was.
And I looked at their phone, like just caught it in my eye, and they've googled,
Ginger comedian.
And they were looking at a picture of Andrew Lawrence. You're not ginger?
Well, that's what I wanted to bloody well say, mate.
Do you know what?
Because you're like, like, sort of ashy blonde,
where mine goes a bit, did yours go lighter in the summer?
It does go lighter in the summer?
Yeah, mine goes really light in the summer.
to the thiii. that's just, you know, mine. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin. thin. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine, th. Mine, thi. th. thi. th. thi. Because. that's, th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's. But if I was dying it, then I'd have blonde hair all year, wouldn't I?
Yeah.
Exactly.
So I do find there's a real bit of, you get a bit of shade from people that don't
like blonde and just accuse of being when I was a kid, right?
It was so light.
It used to, when we went to LaserQuest and there was a UV light.
Yeah, that happened to me, it used to glow in the dark.
And my teeth!
Of course you do, you must have been in a sitting dark, mate.
No wonder I was shit at Quaser. Awful. It was ridiculous. Everyone just seen me running around. Teeth and air blasting out across the...
All I am is teeth and air.
When I was going to go to Spain, people used to touch my hair and say,
Rubio, Rubio, Rubio, because I was blonde and give me things.
Oh wow, that's nice.
We've got an email, I've got an email about young Josh. Have you seen that in the emails about you Josh?
Hello?
There's got a picture coming through talking about your blonde hair.
Here it is.
Hi Rob and Josh, I went to primary school with Josh.
I was...
Is this another one? Chloe Will he played me the episode with the Steph Tiley gate and it made me laugh so much.
Josh.
Yeah, she's-
Def Lyley, that's what I call it.
Yeah, the one that got away.
She could have had Widdocom.
Look at her now.
Steph, I think to be fair.
Steph, to be fair.
I to be afraid, Rob. You know, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to. to, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. Oh, look, slow coach. Get some cider and get down the park and get your end away.
Blumley or wherever you grew up, but at the age of 10. Um, Josh, do you remember? What, what what happened at Marble Mann? So, Rob, so, this is the kind the kind the kind the kind the kind the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the kind. the the the the the the the their. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the to. to. to. to. to, to, I. to, I. I was, actually Rob, this is the kind of thing you'd hear about in a book that Alan Sugar would write about being a young businessman, right?
Yeah.
Now you've covered what my school was like, so it won't surprise you.
There was a brief period when Marbles were very popular because I grew up in Victorian times.
Yes, yeah.
Play start called the House of Marbles that sold Marbles in Bovey Tracy. And we all th th. Yeah, of course. And then me and my friend Thomas started an after-school club.
Oh and it wasn't really marble-themed but we kind of piggybacked on the marble thing.
Okay. Yeah. What did you do? Everyone would come around to my house. Yeah and then we'd sell stuff that we didn't want in a shop. Yeah.
Yeah.
And then we'd charge everyone a pound to get in.
And then we borrowed Christopher Campkins disco likes.
Yeah.
And we put them on and then I played a mixtape that my brother had made me, which contained
rhythm as a dancer.
And on a ragga tip by SL2, if you remember that.
Yeah. And then we'd we we'd we we'd wee we'd they'd they'd they'd they'd they'd they'd ip by SL2, if you remember that. Okay, yeah.
And then, and then we'd all watch neighbors.
Okay, right.
Yeah, and it was called Marblemania and...
Did you play marbles or do you show each other your marbles?
We'd show each other.
We never really played marbles, it was more of a kind of a show.
Well, no one really understands You trade them and stuff like that, but we didn't really even do that.
Well here it says, do you remember running Marblemania Club?
Obviously you do.
I've got to be honest, it's still a sore point for me.
It was the hottest ticket in town.
It was the hottest ticket.
And I'd say, I'd say, I'd say, the hottest is th hottest is th hottest, I'd say, th hottest, th say, th say, ththe phrase town. You're clicking because you're excited aren't you? Yeah, here they are. It was the highest ticket. I was really counting my
money. Me and Thomas were making about a 10 or each a week from it and we were 10.
Can you imagine what that kind of money is like? You actually earned more money
there than you did in the first week of lockdown. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not gonna lieto lie Rob, we didn't declare it. Oh, oh, you'd have the tax man in your case.
According to this, you did Marblemania.
Rich and Soonak trying to deal with the debt by getting on to me by Marblemania.
Yeah, but according to this, you did Marble Mania for 10 years with five shows a week.
Um, here we go.
the older sister would come, yep, thage, thage, -issued one in the dance competition. Oh, yes, please. I don't even remember the dance competition. That sounds like the kind of pro.
I'd say, Rob, if I was to draw a comparison between Marble Mania and anything, I've experienced in later life.
Have you ever been to Wayne Linnaka's Ocean Beach? No, I haven't been there.
It's a similar vibe. It's a similar vibe. Also, you know, he trades on the Linnica name in the same way
he traded on Marbles. That kind.
I would say though that the host of the party, Wenlinka, is definitely not a virgin.
If he was a virgin, it would be one of the greatest scoops of all time. Anyway, I wondered if you had started it up again, now you have children. No. I haven't started at Marblemania because I live in East London.
Yeah, well you could try my, my mom and dad also found a load of playgroup primary school photos
I thought Rob are I appreciate the one I was found of you. So this is you when you had really
blonde hair. They used to run the uh the barn aunt the yearly fundraising barn
dance. Marble mannard could be a great thing to, we're, well we've got big plans eventually to
do a festival of lockdown parenting health so Marblemania could be one of the tents.
Exactly, that'd be great.
I'll be up for that.
I wasn't going to mention this today, Rob.
Yes.
But I'll briefly, because I'll talk about it out. Yes. I have written a book and it is
being announced today Rob. Oh that's excited what's it called? It's called
Watching Neighbours Twice a Day and it's about, it's a good title is it? It's about
growing up. Tell that to my editor Rob. Yeah it's not it's not jump off the shelf easy is it. What what what what what what what what what what what what what what what they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thooo thoo thooooo. tho jump off the shelf easy is it? What were they
suggested it called? Josh Winnockham from the last leg on Channel 4? At the end of the day
the discussion did go round around until the agreement was made that no one gives a shit
about the title so they'll just let me have whatever I want which is very nice of them. What's the cover going to be? Well, the book is about me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It. It. It. It. It. It. Well, the book is about me growing up in the middle of nowhere in the 90s,
and my obsession with TV, and each chapter uses a different TV show as a starting point
to tell the story of my childhood in the 90s.
That's very clever way of doing, isn't it, isn't it?
It's a lovely, nostalgic take on the TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV TV take take take take take take take, tak, tak, tak, tak, ta, t watched in the 90s, but also there is a chapter which talks about Marblemania Rob, so I wasn't going to mention it today. Yeah. It's a Marblemania chapter.
The live and kicking chapter touches heavily on Marblemania. If you want to pre-order,
why wouldn't you? I'm going to read it, mate. I tell you what, I can't promise I read it, Rob? I'll give you one for free. But if any, you know, it's available to pre-order now, so do go on.
And, yeah.
Why not while you're on Amazon or Waterstones or your independent bookseller website, order Rob's as well?
And then you can hold them both up at Christmas, listen to the podcast, it'll look like we're talking to each other. Yes, that's a great shout. Get watching, the tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, to tho. And to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thoooooo. And twice a day and a class act from all your favorite bookshops.
There we go.
But on Tuesday I want to ask you because I'm not very comfortable with promo and you're very good at it.
So I'll ask you about that on Tuesday.
Let's work, you need a strategy.
That's what you need, mate. You need an angle. Yeah, we'll work it out. the links out. Do you. Do you. the links. the links. Do. the links. Do. Do. Do. take he's that he's turning down work to look after his child. If you can please buy the books.
We will have really appreciate it. Josh should we introduce our guest and he's got a book out.
He's got a book out. He's got a book out. plan until you get punched in the face, his autobiography, very interesting story. His editor didn't stand up to him like they stood up to me.
Yeah, yeah, the editor's mom's a dick was the actual title, that they were fine with
until Tony stopped the joke.
But that's about his life story and he went from a very sort of uncompromising, tough upbringing in Liverpool all the way to win the world title, a crui, tod, tod, tod, tod, tod, tod, tod, tod, tod, to, to, to, to, the, to, the, the, to, to, to, the, to, too, too, too, too, too, the, the, too, too, too, too, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the t.... He, the the tod, the tod, the tod, tod, today, today, today, today, too, today, today, today, today, today, today, today, the editor, today, to winning the world title at Cruiserway at Gooderson Park the stadium of his
hometown club no I remember watching it on the tele and it was incredible
Google if you go on YouTube basically in that fight he gets knocked down in
the first round then he comes back to win and it's absolutely incredible
so what Google Tony Bell you macabre at Gooderson Park in front of all the
Everton fans it's amazing and he's an incredible bloke. He's very intense and scary and alpha.
I love the intensity. You know, like he's sportsman times, times ten. Not most sports people you
interview are intense. Yes. He's intense times ten. Yeah, but he's very fun and loving as well,
but he's got that switch which he needs to be good at what he does. But he wasn't interesting about this chat, though, is I think we're quite fairly modern
in our approach to parenting and stuff, where he's still a bit more old school, which is fine.
And I know, it's good to, you know, he's a bit more...
Takes all sorts, Rob.
Exactly.
told.
Exactly. got all different angles but yeah he's very like old school dad but he absolutely loves his kids to pieces but he's got teenagers and this was recorded in lockdown
and it's sort of fairly like a bleak point of lockdown in January time I
think wasn't it yeah I should say after all of the anecdotes about you being
on a golf course finally we've got one that really kicks off
it's a good that's a good story. And this is Tony Bellew, enjoy.

I've got another one who's twe 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 who's 12 12 12 12 who's 12 who's 12 who's 12 who's 12 12 12 who's 12 12 who's 12 12 who's 12 who's 12 12 12 12 who's 12 12 12 12 12 who's 12 12 he can't he can't he he he he he that's 12 12 who's 12 who's 12 12 who he that he can't that he can't that's 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 12 he can can can can can can can can can can can can can can can can can can can can can't can't can't can't he he can't can's that big and heavy. I've got one that is eight.
Sorry, no, he's not, he's nine. I've got one who's nine and then I've got one who's just turned one a few days. Oh, no, a couple of weeks ago so. So how's to bring it all to turn it to a little one?
How's how's that? I've started all over again mate so I've started all over good and proper? You you you you you. So, you, you, you, you, you, you, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I've that, I've that, I've that, I've that, I've started, I've started, I've started, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how's that, how's that, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how, how's, how, how's th. I've th. I've th. I've started, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, how's, and proper you know do you know what I've looked at it so I've got four boys three boys I've just
I've wrote off and I've lost them you know they're just the mummies boys and I've
lost them so this I had this most recent one well she had the most recent one
I obviously just put him there as we do and this was my latest project to make him one one of my own this child is like I he I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously I obviously he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he the the the the the he he he he this was my latest project to make him one of my own. This child is like,
he's gonna be me. He's gonna be, he is a reincarnation of myself. He is one that I've been able to give
full attention. He is my personal project. So all the other boys have to just leave him alone and
let me do my work on this one. That's what comes in. How's it going so far? the try. I'm trying, I'm the, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you're th, you're the the th, you're th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. This, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. This, th. This, th. This, th. This, th. This, th. This, th. This, thi, thi, this, this, this, this, this is, this child, this child, this child, this child, this child, thi. this child, thi, thi, thi, th work on this one. That's what comes in. Oh, it's almost like a project. How's it going so far? I'm trying, I'm try, you know, he's tough. I can tell that much. He's one
years old and he's tough as nails mate. He doesn't give a shit. You know, I can't walk, yeah. Which is completely understandable. So to set up his basic. Do you feel like because you'd be like, you, you, you, you all sorts of things. 20 mate don't do me on stage.
Okay 20 years but over the time of the kids you know being small kids and you're away
at camp for like months and stuff so now you're fully retired and you're at home so in what regard
you try to make this child your projects is it because they're softer because they're mommies boys are that you want a mummies boys and they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're t. t. toy. toy. toy. toy. toy. toy. toy. toy. toy. ttry. ttry. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. So so so so so so so they're they're mummies boys and that you want a daddy's boy or what? Yeah, the mummies boys and they've just been giving everything they want.
I mean, I've had to take, as you can see that picture in the background there, it's
the jaws picture.
I'm just like
I don't need these problems but the mother just gives into everything this is what
I'm saying. I've lost them to just gives them and gives them and gives them.
That's yours is a perfect example of what the fuck is going on in my house. How can a 12-year-old boy th boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy the the the heau boy heau boy heau boy heau th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th their the th. th. th. the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. He th. He's thou th. He's t. I t. I t. I t. I th thou th th th th th the th What the fuck? I mean, it's insane. So I finally got, after all these years, I finally took
that out of his room, we've got that rid of that now. So that's on the top floor in this office area
that I'm in now. These are just little kind of, I'm giving you little things here that that just go on in my that just that just that just that just that just that just that just that just that just that just that just that's that's that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's just that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. thi that's just thi thi thi. thi's just thi's just thi's just thi. thi's just thi's just thi. that's just with the back? No mate I didn't. I didn't.
I didn't because you know I couldn't find one that's the only reason they didn't buy one and I
I mean I could have got it but she couldn't find it that's the most important thing. If she can't find it,
they don't get it. If she can't find it and it arrives at the house.that are going in my house and what gets bored, what comes in and what goes out. All that I've got control of is the fucking cooker because I cook the food
and that's all I can do in this house. What do you cook? Everything, I'm a good cook,
I can cook, I mean, you don't get this fat mate by not being able to cook, you know what
I'm a greedy bastard but listen. I cookthat's what I do and I get told to clean certain Aides in the house or clean the kitchen really well I can stack a dishwasher
dishwasher like no other fucker on the planet. What's your top technique? What's
the top technique for the dishwasher? Top technique is a space between
each dish so you know don't just jam them all in I'm fill every little little slide in compartment so you can't put like 10 plates if you're the the the the the the they. they. they. they. they. I I I I I I I I I I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I'm they. I'm they. I'm they. I'm they. I'm the the they. I'm they. I'm they. I can't. I can can't. I can't. I can can can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't the the the the the the the th. I can't th. I'm th. I'm t. I'm t. I'm t. I'm tip. I'm tip. I'm touch. I'm touch tip. I'm touch touch tip. I'm touch touche. I'm there's 10 spaces you got to put five plates that way they all get washed back to
front properly yeah the knives and forks I put up I put a space in between
everything so I utilize a dishwasher perfectly I can't believe I'm talking
about this does that mean I'm interested it does that mean you're
doing twice as many washes than everyone else though it doesn't make because I predict the amount the the the the the the the the the the the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the to the the the the the to to to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to their to to to to to to to to to to to to their they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they their their their their their their their their their their their twea te I try I try. I try. I try. I try. I'll try. I'll try. I'll try. I'll try. I'm try. I'm the amount that I'm going to use so sometimes
I do a wash before I start to cook over the night and sometimes it just depends on how much I'm cooking
cooking what kind of meals I'm cooking but yeah. Are you're a coping retirement okay? I haven't got time to think
about it meat. So what does your day involve now with home schooling and stuff? Are you doing all of that?
My day, well I'm not going to tell Lise, and there's no point in doing that because she might
see this and then she might just give me a slap and put me straight so the best things is
just tell us. The fact of the matter is I don't do the homes because you know why because because I can't do it. I had a big argument with the th. I, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, th, because, because, the th, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, they, they, because I, they, they, they, they, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, because, because, because, because I, because I, because I, because I, because I, because I, because I, because I, the, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they they they they they they they they, they they there, there, there, there, there's there's there's no, there's no, there's no, there's no, there, there's there, there's took 15 pence, he had a pound, and we went back and forth and I was like,
he had 85 pence, she was like, no he didn't. So I was like, yes, he did. Don't tell me.
My son's sitting there, he's laughing. He finds it absolutely hilarious because he can do the
math quicker than the two of us. So I went throughthrough a bit of an episode over the weekend and I thought like I was annoyed, Meets all day Saturday I was not happy and I was on it I was on the edge of just
just it must be it must be so hard though when you go from like your career of where you are
you know putting yourself and your health on the line and that and adrenaline
and that and that and adrenaline and the stuff likethat so you need that out there? You need something mate, everybody needs something so. Do you know what?
I know I rant on a little bit and I go a bit off the scale but you know this lockdown at the
start of it, definitely I've got to say at the start of it, it was absolutely brilliant. My family we got into a routine. I loved it. And it just, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I'm, I've got, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, I'm, everybody, I, everybody, I, I, everybody, I, I, I, I, everybody, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a th. th. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, and it just, I've spent more time with my
kids in the last 12 months than I have in the last 10 years. And I mean quality time,
because as you can imagine, my career just takes over everything and I was so driven to become
what I actually ended up being, that it took over my life boxing, came first. It came before my wife, it came before my kids. And everyone used to say to me, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, the, th, th, th, th, the, th, the, th, the, th, the, th, the, th, I, I, I, I've, I've, I've, I, I, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, t, t, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t togu.a, t togu.a, kids. And everyone used to say to me, yeah, but you're doing it for your kids, but you know what, mate? I weren't. I was doing it
to become world champion. After I became world champion, yes, I'm doing it for my kids, the
financial side of the things and stuff like that, but make no mistake about it. I wanted to
become world champion. I was driven from a year from the ages of 1415 I was insanely
driven trying to become world champion so I've done that for me. In the
process I've been earning for them yes the financial and the lucrative side
that was for them 100% but that belt that I've got that she's actually
fucking shoved in here.
Yeah what you want me in? Is that in the bottom, bottom drawer of a cupboard in my office?
No.
Shove in a cupboard.
Look at that.
That is the pride and joy of my lifelong ambition and goal and she just shoves it in her
fucking cupboard on the top floor in the office.
At least the jaw's picture is on display. That's the ninth thing the jaw's picture and that floor in the office. My life in... At least the jaw pictures on display,
that's the ninth thing, the jaws pictures on display and that's in the cupboard.
Sure it should have a box or just a towel round. That's, but that's there, that's there.
The wedding, the cupboard.
So yeah, it's that's what it was all about.
So lockdown one, so lockdown one was amazing because you got that time with you. How is it now?
Brilliant Rob? She does everything. She does everything. so she does all her homeschooling, she cleans like a maniac
and that winds me up and then, you know, I try and have time for us, that like, it gets about
half, eight, nine o'clock at night and I'm like, it's our time now, love, let's watch a program,
let's watch flick on something and she's just like, I'm tired and I'm tired now, I'm tired and I'm going to bed. It's like anything to ignore me and stay away from me, you know, basically being out me way all day,
not spoke a word really,
gets there about eight, half, eight, nine o'clock on it here.
See it after.
And I'm like, what the fucks, what the fucks?
You know what I mean? You just, I'm trying to stay so, we've we' called children. And mate, it's just hard but...
And does your 15-year-old think he can take you now?
Is he getting that sort of swagger?
Yeah.
He does, mate, and he's going to learn the hard way that,
listen, dad did not get us to a house like this and drive a fucking
car like that by tickling people's arses, he turned it by slapping people's arses and dealing with big strong ass men.
So boy, pay attention if you're going to watch this.
Are they going to be boxers?
No, no, no, don't be daft.
I mean, I haven't been punched in the face, Josh, for 20 years to see them get punched
as well made, so that's just not the plan. We had had had that, that, that, that, the th, their th, th, their th, th, their th, their th, th, th, the at our lodge in Wales, we've got a lodge in Perfele that we love to go to and spend our time there. So there's a nine old golf course on there,
I'm trying me best to get better at this golf which is not going very well, but I'm trying still.
I love the game. And I'm walking on the golf course where, and me and I'm carrying the golf bag and he nudged into me and I went, what are you doing? And he went, don't start.
He said, you don't want any of this.
And I said, I said, I said, that's the face that I just that.
What?
And you don't want any of this.
And he says to me, really, okay, that's it.
He said, put the golf bag down. I said, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I. I. the, I. I. I. I. I. I, I. I, I. I. I, I. I. I, I. I. I. I, I. I, I. I. I, I. I. I, I. I. I. I, I. I, I, I. I. I. I, I, I, I, I. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, that, I said, that, that, that, I said, that, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I golf bag down I said no problem okay let's put the
we're gonna do this okay let's put the golf back down it's the best bit he
said take the glove off because I don't want no excuses the golf glove had on
me on me right hand take the glove off because I don't need to get
the glove off because I don't need no excuses I said are you are serious or for really at this point he's doing this he he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he he's he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th to took to to took to to to to took to to to to to to to to to to he he he he he he he he he he he he this point he's doing this he's shook in his shoulders and his neck. How big is he at 15? He's bigger than me, 6'4' I'm 6'3' says love and chew same as me and
he says yeah take the glove off I don't want any excuses. So I said this is going to be quick,
it's going to be swift and you're not going to know what's going down. He said to me. He said to me I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I'm not to he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's their their not going their not going he's going their not going he's going he's going he's going their not going their not going their not going th. I'm not going th. I'm not going the their their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their th. He's not going their their their their their their their not going. He's not going. I th. I'm not going. I'm not going. I'm not going. I'm not going. I'm not going. I'm not going. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's the. He's the. He's th. He's not going th. He's been watching too much UFC by the way.
So bear in mind, there's other keen golfers walking around in Perfely around this course.
From a distance, he's six for four, I'm six foot three. This looks like too big, hairy ass men about to go for it.
I've put the golf bag down, I've took the glove off. He charges at me and tries to take me legs. Like I told you he's been watching
UFC like a unity. So I kicks back and puts me weight on the front. I just leaned on him at this
point. At this point now, he's trying to have a wrestle. He's struggling. He's felt the weight of me literally, and he's understood I'm now in trouble. I just then mounted him. I'm just thenedededededededededededededededed the the the the their their their their their the put me arms in this position, his arms are in this position,
I just stuck them, I put me one knee on there, the other knee on there, so he's on the
floor like this and I'm over the top of him.
And I just said, now you're going to lean, and I just give him, boom, there's one slap.
I said, are you still want to carry. Is this all you've got? Another slap. At this moment
in time, two men just walked right past me and just looked at me and shook the head. I didn't
even have the energy to explain to them. He's my 15-year-old son. I'm his dad. Do you think that
would have explained it? I don't that meant it better. So, I just, I lent to him in this position with my knees there like that. Just for the listeners, that's like hands by the head, like a kind of hands up,
my knees are pressed down on the sides of him and I'm over the top and I just,
he couldn't get me off mate. Listen, I'm 16, 17 stone. He's about 10, 11 stone ring
and wet. He's built like a like a beam pole. So I just continued to give him a little him him him the face every 10, 20 seconds for the space of about three to four minutes.
We got up and the end he said yes dad okay I understand I'm not ready to take
here and I'm not going to try this challenge again. I'm sorry dad no problem
get up give him a little slap on the ass sent him on his way. I'm guessing that's going to give me another 12 to 18 months, hopefully two years until it comes again. So you know, it might not end us well
the second time round, but it did end pretty well the first time. He went back home to mom. He
their theymeat and said love he got his lesson to his mom. He was embarrassed. He didn't want to explain to his mom that dad had just taught him a lesson in life. And that was it, mate. You know, that was the last episode.
He spoke to him about it since? Every time he tries to come on and says like, yeah, dad,
I think it's time I just say, son, remember the golf course. And he's again. Because that's bold. I know he's a little bit tall than you,
but it's so bold at that young age to think like that
because that, you know, it's not like he's a-thing
Eddie Hearn and Barry Hearn had a little spa didn't they?
But Barry Hearn wasn't a proper boxer and stuff,
but there will be a stage but like the problem with my kids. kids I am they've never seen that side of me I always it was my horrible nasty
vicious side which I have got and I understand that and I've took that on
board it only ever came out in a boxing world or you know when someone challenged
me in a car while I'm driving does come out there as well to be
on them to be honest with each other they've never seen that side of me
so the all as I am to them is big soft and dopey because because because they they they they they they they they they I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I they I have I have I have I have they I have they I have they I have they I have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they are they are they are they are they they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they're to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to they are to they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they They've never seen that side of me. So all as I am to them is big, soft and dopey.
Because I just, I take everything in me side, my wife's the boss in the house, I mean, the
wife's the boss in everyone's house and anyone who's watching this tries to explain that she's
not, you're lying your dickhead, don't be stupid. So my kids see that side, I mean, think, yeah, my dad's a pushover. So that's why he's challenged me really.
You know, if I was to show them, right, I'm from here, I've done this, I've done that.
I used to do that when I was your age.
I was doing this when I was your age. They'd be like, not messing with my dad, but I don't, I don't, I'm a big, I'm a big, I'm a big, I'm a big, I'm a big, I'm a big, I'm a big, I'm a big, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a big, if to. If, if to. If, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if I, if I was to show, if I was to show, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if I was to show, I was to show, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, if..... If. If. If, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, I was, if, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. I'm, I'm, Corey only ever came to one the greatest night in my career.
I'd say life but you know. That was that was an incredible fight that was a Gooderson Park.
I mean I'm not even a sort of like you know Liverpool and Farns I'm not even a fan. But seeing you
win that tol at Gooderson Park the crowd going mad and also you got Tony gets knocked down at the start and then you come back. It's definitely. It's a. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. that. that's that's that's that was. th. that was. that was a that was a that was a that was a th. that was a that was a that was a that was a that was a that was a th. th. that was. that was. that was. that was. that was. that was. that was. that was was. that was was. that was was. that was. that was. that was. that was. that was. that was. that was. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that was that was that was the. that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was th. th. th. th you come back. It's definitely working. I think it makes it even better. He got my nose broke. It was a flash
lock round. It was a bit more there. Oh it was a flash literally snapped my nose and I ended
up doing a roll over to which judges thought I was doing a gymnastics kind of thing
and gave 10 points each. Yeah. But you come back to win in quite devastating fashion and you could see the emotion on your face and I think your son was sneaked in you never really wanted him there is that right and he snuck in to watch?
You know what I'd always I never wanted my kids to watch me fight ever I didn't want to see that part
the only reason I had Kaliak Guderson Park was because I was destined to win a world title from the age and I knew it once I knew at some at some the world the world their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their to to to their tom p when when when when when when when when when when when when when when when. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their to their their their their their their their their their toda. today. their their today. the the the today. the today. today. today. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was knew at some point I would become world champion and all the stars aligned
as they say, and at Gooderson Park on the 29th of May, my second, my middle son's actual
birthday I became a world champion and I just, I had to have Corey there, at the time
he was 10 years old and it was just unbelievable, I said, the greatest night of my career,
the greatest night of my life really, but it was just, I I mean, as I say, the greatest night of my career, the greatest night in my life, really,
but it was just, I can't put into words how much it meant purely for the fact of, I've
been going to go to some parks, watch Everton Football Club every other Saturday since
I was nine, ten years old.
And Everton means everything to me, you know, I've watched them, I've been season tickets all there. I love the club and I if in the ideal world I would
have been a football player playing for Everton but the fact of the matter is I
was too fat and I wasn't good enough so you know I end up the only chance I got
got the only chance I got a good guy on to do my heart case so it's I just my dream crease throwing the shot so today's a case I just my dream was always to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a to be a football to be a football to be a football to be a football to be a football to be a football to be a football to be a football a football a football a football a football a football to be a football to be a football. a football. to be a football. I was the the to be a football. I was a the the the the their. I'm a top guy on Zoom. To Zoom hard case.
So it's just my dream was to be a footballer.
I wasn't good enough.
So the best thing I could do was stick a ring in the middle of Gooderson Park, which had never
been done before.
And I just wanted to have one of my kids' witnesses.
And obviously Corey was the eldest.
He was there that night, as I said, you know, the most amazing feeling ever. I wish I could have just stopped fighting and retired
that night in the ring when I won the World Title, but it was only at that stage where money
started to come into the game for me because all of the fights before that, some of them were for
decent money and it was okay, but none of it was where I could set my family up for the
rest of my life. So none of it was, I hadn't owned a house before
that World Title Fight, none of the houses I was in and I owned. So it wasn't until that
World Title Fight, that then you know things went better and as Rob touched on it, I come
across David Hay and then that's where my life financially changed and that was a massive part of why I've been able to retire when I did. Does it, do you worry, that, that, th, th, th, th, I, I, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that that that that that, was, was, was that, that, was that, was that, that, that, that was that was that was that was that was that was that was th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thrown, thrown, thrown, thrown, thrown, thrown, thrown, thin, was thoooo, was that, was thrown, was th your children are going to have a different upbringing
to you because of the different money situation? Definitely. I worry about that all the time and
I think it's so, with my kids it's so easy come easy go. I would think with Cody, you know, when
he was born, I was born 15 years ago, it's a little bit different because, you know, when
when Coddy was first born I was living in my first house or terraced house in Old So on which is a tougher part
of Liverpool not like where we are now so he's he's seen the progression he's
being around and I'm when you know when we didn't have much when I was
struggling when I had no money and I had a mortgage and I was skint and you know and he's being around them difficult times don't you know and he's and he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he the the the he the they they they they they they they they is they is they is they is they is they they they is th th th. th th. th. th. He's the they they. they they. they. they. they. they. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th ti is ti is ti is ti is ti ti times times. times. times. tm. times. times. tm. times. tou' is tttimes. times. times. times. wrong, he never went without in them difficult times because I was still willing to do some stupid crazy things to earn money.
But he was around in them times in them days. After that, when my second son comes, we were still in
the terraced house in old swan when Kobe came, but I was doing a bit better then.
And then by the time the third one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one their one their one their one their one their one their their their it or not, the third one weren't planned. You know, we weren't in a better position, a much better position that was living in a nicer
house and stuff like that. And then on this latest one-one-one-year-old, and then on this latest one,
he's one, he's just going to know, he youngest to sort of know that they're like living a lucky lifestyle was or what do you mean by like a project to make
them like you? There's no there's no denying that I mean I've been away for so long that you know
I've been so good at what I've done that it's been able to retire but I've been a way it's took me away from them and I haven't been a full-time father if anything I've been you could class me as a part-time father while I was fighting
which is hard to say I've been very selfish I've taken myself away to
camp going to America for months at a time making a bleeding-blocky movie going
away for three months and not coming back home so as I said she's had to deal with these all the time. On this final one, I've been here nearly every day of his life.
I'm part of it, I'm here.
And the other three, I wasn't because I was so focused.
Even when I was at home, I wasn't really there.
I was just so focused on fighting.
I'm getting to the next challenge,
making the next few quid, always on anything but being a parent when I was fighting and that's sad to say but that's me just being honest. I'd regret. Well you have to have that mindset in that kind of job because
you have to be a, it's not like you chose to be in camp, you have to be in camp if you're a fighter,
it's part of the process. You do mate, but when I look back now I think I didn't have got so far because I'm not athletically gifted. I'm not you're Anthony Joshua. I'm not somebody who you look at him and he's got fucking muscles bulging
out of his face and his body and he's just he's a perfect specimen that's not me.
So I had to work on other aspects and parts of my game so much more. Like I was insane
driven every time I was in camp I was just on it every single day when I wasn't in camp my mind was still focusing on the next move doing this, doing that. Whereas other people who are naturally talented athletes, they
just go into the gym and it's like they've never left. It's crazy how some people work. Whereas
me, I was a greedy fat fucker sometimes. As a kid growing up, you know, I was 15 years old and I was 15 stone and I was 15 stone and that puts thinn't. That's th, I was th, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15 stoned, I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15, and I was 15 st and I was 15 st and I was 15 st and I was 15 st and I was 15 st and I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, I was 15, and th, I was 15, I was 15, and th and th and th and I was 15, I was 15 st and th and I was 15 stoned, and thated, I was 15 stoned, I was 15 stoned, and th. 15 stoned, and I was 15 stoned, and I was 15 stoned, and I was 15 stoned, and I was 15 stoned, and I was 15 stoned, and thed stone and that puts things into context. My first professional fight, I was two and a half stone lighter than I was when I was
fighting a 15.
But I chose to cut weight and go down, just all these things.
Do you see that mindset of relentlessness in any of your children that they're that sort
of super driven?
So do you think it's a genetic thing or a product of your environment to escape and, you know, make the situation you're using better?
I see it in Carter, the eight, nine year old. I definitely don't see it in the fucking other two.
Because they just, they're ever do think in their own time, it will just say, no, I'm not doing that,
don't feel like it. Whereas I have never quit anything in my life. I can't quit. It's a sad thing to that I have that I have the the the the little the little the little the little the little the little th. I have the little the little the little th. I the little th. I the little. I the little. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm not, the the the th. their, I've their, I've their, I've their, I've their, I've their, I've their, I've, I've, I've, I've their, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. I'm, th. I've thi. I've thi. I've thi. I've thi. I've thi. I've thi. I've the the thi. I can't quit, I just can't give him. It's a sad thing to that really. I'm so
germany. I'm just, I mean even the little things like beating your kids on FIFA, I want
a tank him meet, I'm still, but he's got the PS5, I'm doing him on FIFA, I'm doing the Elvis one
on FIFA and I'm not playing around with him meat. It you know the Sabbath he's not even that bothered.
And I'm furious that he's actually not bothered but I mean I can't explain that the anger I have when I've done him and needs to respond and he's just like yeah yeah it's crazy isn't it?
But Carter's different in in that respect yeah yeah he yes mate he hates to lose he'd do it like like his two elder brothers will knock fuck out of him and he will come back for more he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he's he's he's he he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's actually he's he's he's he's he's he is he is he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he will come he will come come he will come he will come come he will he will come he will he will come come he will he will he will he will come he will come he will come he he he he he he he Yeah, he hates to lose. He do it. Like, two older brothers will knock
fuck out of him and he will come back for more, believe you and me, and he will not stop.
Really? So what will your wife say to her about that then? Will she go? What have you, like, will
she say, can't tell me? What are you doing? You stupid idiots, you big you, you can't them thin' thin, you, you can't, you can't, you can't, you can't, you, you can't, you can't, you can't, you can't, you can't, you're th. You're th. You're th. You're th. You're th. You're th. You're th. You're thin, you're thin' thin' thin' thin, thin, thin' thin' thin' thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thin' their, their, their, their, their, their their, their, their, thin' thin' th.. And, and th. And, and th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thooooooooooo''a'er. thoo'er. thoooooo'er. And thoo'er'a'er. And tha'a or he's not like you. And I'm like, you will be like me if I can teach him a few things.
So...
What siblings did you have when you're growing up, Tony?
I have got three brothers meet.
So, two elder ones, one younger one.
So, I'm four boys.
And was that a similar thing where you're all fighting and you're all... Me, you know what it's mad because growing up, my eldest brother was our
Craig Mad Evertonian so he left home when I was about 10, 910 and then he's just
living with some bade at the time or whatever but he'd still come and take me to the
matches with him because he got me supporting Evan Believer not my dad's the rebellious little fucker I am I am I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th th th th th th th th th to to th th th th th tho-I tho-I tho-I th th th th th th th th th th thed thed thed thed thed thed thed thed thed th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th they they they th th th they th th th th th th th tho that tho tho the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to theeeeeeeeeeee dad's the Liverpool fan. So being the rebellious little fucker I am, I chose to support Everton's
gold games me dad because I was I'll do what I want. So yeah, R Craig was always there. It was,
R. Wesley was my next one up. So, our Wesley is the brains out of the four of us. He's a clever individual. He met the the, he's thrain thrain thrain thin, he's thin, he's thin, he's thin, he's thin, he's thin, he's thin, he's thin, he's thin, he's the thin, he's to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to means, I, I means, I means, I means, I, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's go, I's go, I's go, I's go, I's to to to to to to to to to to to to to their, I's go means, I's their, I's their, I's their, I's their, I'll their, I'll their, I'll their, I'll their, I'll to their, I'll to to to to to their, I'll to their, stuff like that and he would like he would
do what I don't do I call it he would pin me down bump give me slaps now again
just to teach me a lesson show me as possible you've got to understand I
outgrew them pretty quick because I'm the biggest of me and all my brothers
and I'm the heaviest once I got to like 1314
that the challenges like stopped in my house with me elder brothers and
then with my younger brother being gay I had to every fight you could possibly
imagine I had over him not with him because I would but you know it's no
there's no it's no conspiracy why I'm a boxing mate you know when you've
when you've got a young brother who's gay and it's apparent that he's gay at a very very young
age then you can imagine being young black and gay in South Liverpool wasn't
the most desirable thing to be at that time in the late 80s in the late 80s early
90s so I had many a fight defending him yeah really did which is very hard
but you know he's his own man,
I'm married and stuff like that. So yeah, it's no coincidence why I am what I am. I love
me brothers and I love the family that we have, but it's crazy when you look back on your life
and see it's no coincidence why I am what I am and why I ended up doing what I was doing. I was
I was completely off the rails at some parts of my life,
which we all have been at some stage. But as when it comes to fighting, it's no coincidence
why I am, why I ended up a fighter. Did boxing kind of, was that the kind of outlet to get you onto the
rails in a way? Definitely. I'm not going to use that old cliche one of box and save my life, you know without boxing. I, probably been up to some stupid things yet but no more stupid than anybody else.
You know we've all done daftings we're not very proud of. We've all like, well I don't know,
we've all had close scrapes with the law. I have. But it's a, you know what I think I was very fortunate to find me to find me way. It was my dad who put. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I've all th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. thi thi. th. th. thi. th. th. th. thi's thi's th. thi's thi. th. thi. th. th fortunate to find me away. It was my dad who put me into the boxing world and stuff like that.
He was always proud.
My dad was one of them people who,
he'd a brilliant dad, but my dad left home when I was 10.
But my dad never became, never like taking himself out of my life.
their life was always in my life.
So looking back on it, I always just wanted to impress my dad. My dad was my dad was th dad was a thau my dad was a thau thau. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be a to be a to be a to. to. to bea. to bea. toe. toe. toe. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I was. I was. I was. I was t. I was t. t. t. t. t. t t t toda. t t toda. toda. t t toda. t toda. I'm today. I'm t t t t my dad. My dad was a fellow who really could have a fight and it wasn't a boxing and just could have a fight, he was an hard fella. So bringing home 10
GCSEs, grades 8 to see, that was never really going to, you know, cut it and impress my
half fella. Me going to go in the gym and knocking someone clean out, you know, fuck me,
that's getting me a new pair of trainies or a traininger, their, their, their're winning me second amateur fight by knockout and rendered this guy unconscious within 30 seconds.
My dad bought me a season ticket the two days later for the Everton. Yeah.
Yeah. But that's the kind of thing people would talk about in like their friends and
people boast about their kids don't that you know when you run a nightlife security in a city like Liverpool which he was he must have had about 2030 nightclub doors and it's like and loads of the lads who work for them will turn
up and watch me fight yeah I've just rendered someone unconscious to tell you what so your lad
he's gonna be something else I mean Tony see your lad what he's brilliant he's this and that and that's like it's my lad that fucking my lad that you know so that was that's that that that that that that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's they. they. their their their their their their their their their their their their they I they I they I they I they I they I they I they I they I they I they I they. they. they. they. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their toy toy toy toy toy toy toy toy toy toy toy to to to their their their they's their they're they's they's this and that's like, it's my lad da. Foking, my lader, you know.
So that was, it made them so proud and I say,
I've got a dad who's extremely proud of me.
Someone, and that was the big,
that was one of the biggest things in highlights
me, could you just making me proud?
Yeah, and what, and do you want to fight all the time.
They say they want to, but if I'll actually, go on then, they know I'm not going to let them, but if I said go on then, go on do it, they fucking soon get a fright. But that's not what I want for them. I want them to be everything that I wasn't able to be. So my kids have have their brains their brains their brains to their brains their brains to their brains to their brains their brains their brains their brains their brains to their brains their brains they're got to be brains their brains their brains, their brains, their brains, they're got they're to be to be, I their brains, I'm not they're to be they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their their their their their their their their their their to be, I'm not their their their their they their they they they they their they're they're their their their to be their to be their brains, I tha, I'm not to be thr-a, I've not going going going, to be try. try. to be try and to be thrown, I've thin, I'm not they're not their they can do different things. The whiz kids on certain
things. I'm not expecting Einstein's for kids. I'd love to get one out of the 40 university.
That would be a brilliant thing for me to do to see one of my kids go there. I've been very
fortunate and able to set up things for them so you know they're going to have
really, really good childhoods that they're going to be able to go into, shall it not work, doing what they want to do.
So you know, I've planned and I've set things up for them, going forward.
I think that's unfair though, Tony, when you say you're not blessed with brains, because you're obviously a one-man business, but you've th........ You're very very very very very very very. You're very. You're very. But, but, but, but, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to be a a very. to be a to be a to be a very. to to be a to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to to to to to to to to to to th and I'm th and I'm th and I th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And, th. And, th. And th. And th. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And toe. And, toe. And, toe. And, toe. And toe. And the. And th. And the. And th. And the business you're in, you knew how to work it, you had strategies, you did PR, you did market, you was essentially a one-man business and all those things connected,
you know, like the way you set up the fight with David Haye was a very shrewd marketing move
that would have been looted in marketing departments, but because it's a bloke kicking off
another bloke, he just looked like to be like, like, sloathe. I was clever and wise at that side of things but that's just because of experience, experienced
level to that point in my career.
So you've got to remember in the early parts of me career I was dealing with snakes and
in the boxing world there's tons of them.
So you soon learned to make the most of what you've got.
The most of what I had, a lot of it was just open this and talk shit and just create rivalries, do different things. I was brilliant at that and I understood
composed shit. I'd say composed shit, but in a cover way with an outcome. I've got to back it up.
There's no point in just being able to talk shit and talk shixt in the end you're going to get
found out. The most important thing in boxing is and everyone say you can talk a great fight, you can talk a great fight but ultimately you you've you you've you you've you you've you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to their to to to to to to their their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their tapot. tapot. tapote. tapote. tapote. to coo. I tolde. I to coo. I to coo. I to coo to coo to coo to be able to just fight. Yeah. You get fellas who can talk the best game in the world.
You can get fellas who talk shit,
create rivalries, but mate,
if you can't fight, you're just gonna get slapped everywhere.
And that's not what we're doing.
It's embarrassing, you end up on a YouTube compilations of boxes that get owned.
You don't want to be a mean mean. No, and if your boys, if your boys did fight Tony, would you be in the corner and manage
and coach them or would you get someone to do that for you and you, you know, because
it's like this, you know, Nigel Ben stands quite far away from Connor Ben when he fights and
then Eubank is very much involved with Chris and you, how would you approach it?
I don't know, Rob, I couldn't see me kick up on the face because they're
going to have to punch me in face. Yeah, but if they're going to have that fight, then
you know, you'd be watching someone in the corner, but then if, you know, do you think that
you'd be able to do a better job on instructing them and give them advice, you know, because in the way that is protecting the way, because, the way, the way, the way, the way, the way, the way, the way, they, they, they, they's, they's, they's, they's, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, but, but, but, but, but, but, if they're, but, but, but, but, but, but, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they's..... If, if, if. If, if, if, if, if, if.... If, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if they, if, if they, if they, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, you're going, you're going, you're going, you're going, you're, you're going, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, I've been offered a few opportunities to train a few fighters now and I've said no, purely for the
fact of, you have to remember how involved a train it is with a fighter. Every time,
the train is in the gym, the t You know, you'd be emotionally invested. It's your child. I don't know me.
I couldn't. I couldn't. I don't know. Could you sit rings out and watch? No. No, no chance.
No, I couldn't watch. I don't know how my dad's done it for this minute is.
My dad adores me and I know me in the world to me. My dad's my dad's watching me watching my kids I couldn't do it it just a thought of it oh like me my son's
had argument to school and I think a kid but I wanted to go up and fill the
kids dad in I wanted to go up and fill the kids dad in just so the kid understands that you know I'm never gonna do that the the running my wife talking me around to stop me doing it. I was going to go and
fill the kids dad in right outside the school in front of us in front of his son
and that's the kind of thing that you just you'd have to need someone on your
shoulder say you can't do that because that's how goes but the school dealt with their it was it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's hard it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's hard it's hard it's it's it's how it's that that it's that it's that it's that it's that's that's that's that's their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th is is is th is th is th is thi is thi is thi is thi is thi thi thi thooooooooooooooooooooooes their their their their their the thought process, then that's what your brain is telling you to do. Not to do.
Not to, but I expect my son to deal with that.
Kids are always going to get, fights are going to happen till the end of time.
And I was like, oh, me miss, you can't do that.
And I was like, you can't do that. And if I'll do that, they, they, they, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to told, not, not, not, not, not, not, not, not, not, I, I, not, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I expect, I'm, I'm, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, I, I, I, I to, I, I, I, I, I to, I to, I to, I, I to. I. I to. I. I. I. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. Fight, to. Fight, I expect, to. F. Fight, it's not I'm trying to put it right. I'm just like that's not the right way to put it. So she talked me around and I've now realized that that wasn't the right way.
So as long as he gives a belt back, you know, it's a job done. But yeah. I think you're
always like to end with the same question. I reckon you're quite an honest. I'm so honest that's me. I'm that's, I'm that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the that's that's that's the that's that's that's that's the the that's that's not. Rob. Rob. Rob. When my Mrs says that sometimes I've got to just well I shouldn't have said some of the
things I've said on her you know what I mean? The question is, is it anything that
obviously your wife's an incredible mom you've said that she does like the homeschooling and you do the cooking and stuff? Is they thing that she thinks she she she she she that she that she that she that she that she that she that she that she that she that she that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th I th. th. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thooooes th. theats. I's that's haven't really said to her because it could cause an argument but you're
you know you're right.
And if she was called.
You want to cause the argument and then like switch off and then you don't have to deal
with the D. I can see what you're doing me.
It's quite a mile away.
She's more than welcome a big man. Do you know if I end end end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end to end the to end the to the the to to to the the to to to to to to to the to the the their their. their their their their their. their their. their their. their their. I the the the the tho. thi. tho. tho. tho. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. thooooooooooooooooes. I the the the this comment I'm gonna fuck you. Well if we do on pay-per-view
you might get off your money back. I think people will pay too much you bash me
up on paper-view I'm sorry I check a tenure in. You guys have a Beckett
value beck I come up more than that mean 1990 I come out lad fucking
she got me right eh. What does she do that annoying because you say she's like you think she's a bit soft with them and things like that
But is there anything else?
Oh, she's definitely soft. I mean when she just like buys things and just and you know
There's still parcels turn up at my house and we're living it and when in January well
February now there's still parcels like it's not fucking Christmas on shit and bollic stuff coming to the house doing me heading.
But you know what I'll tell you what she does right it is exactly how it goes. This is what she does and this is fucking really annoying. So you know when they've stopped
listening she's and like she's lost them and she's tell him do this and they've got to
explain this she's doing that and she's taking over a lesson with the man like the carters just had enough because he's cheeky and ears or say I've had enough not doing no more. Ant, aunt, Antony come here, he's not doing it and then
why, why shel me? What do you tell me for? I mean, you're doing, you do the home school?
But oh yes, shout dad then because dad's the disciplinary and dad's fucking sordin' the punishment. Dad will deal with it. So I come down down down down down down down head little shit, sit down and do the rest of the work now.
I'm warning you, don't test me. So I'm always the bad guy.
You always have to be the bad guy. I don't appreciate being the bad guy. I mean don't get me wrong, my kids.
I'd like to think they love me or if they don't fucking brilliant acting skills they really are. I've created a few fucking Al Pacinos and Robert De Niro's in this house if they
fucking don't really love me. Yeah I hate being the bad guy all the time
but I do understand you know you do need discipline in a house and I am the
disciplinarian in this house. Does it work though but like do they
respond to that or do they know that you know you love them to pieces and you can't the the the the the the the they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they try try to try try try to try try try to try try try to try to try to try they they they they they they they they they they them to pieces and you can be soft with them like so they can they sort of see through it slightly even though like you saying that
for somebody doesn't know you is a bit scary because you're you know
you know ex-champion boxer but for them do they sort of know no he's just
I think last week was a bit of a toubter thin going now, I've still got it back here. Wait, yeah, he's got the PlayStation back where I've still got the phone.
So it's been eight days now.
Yeah, wow.
And he's got a girlfriend who he thinks is absolutely fantastic,
which is, you know, just ridiculous of 15.
But as it goes, you know, what can you do?
So yeah, I'm sticking up with that one I definitely think he thought he'd get it back by now but you know he should have gave in the mock exam which is important because he's doing this is his final year in school
and he had to do a certain mock exam and had to be handed in so basically he bullshitted me
and his mother and said yeah it doesn't have to be in yeah then the school phone does my back
goes up fucking little so what the school must think the school must think the school the school school school school school school school school school school school school school school school school school school school is the school school is the school school is the school school is the school school is the school school school is the school school school is the school is the school school school school is the school is the school school school is the school school school school school school the school. the school. the school. the school is the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. the school. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their sc. their sc. their their sc. their sc. their s. the school must think, ah the outfellow must think hard, don't worry we've got it sorted, no I'm not like that at all. I'm actually, I think school's very important

So, so it's just like, give me the phone.
And it's just like, oh, the phone.
And like, there's the phone.
And keep messing around, the PlayStation pretty naughty though to lie to you about it basically. That's when it's that that was me when the little ones.
He didn't lie, he just he just papered over it. Oh yeah, I'm getting it done. I'm getting it done.

If he was, I say to him all the time, listen, long legs, you could
have the best life ever. All I expect you to do is do your homework, do your schoolwork, and
then you can do whatever you want. If you want to sit on PlayStation all there, you can. If you want to go and play football, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you the their, you their, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're their, you're their, you're their, th. their, th. Long, their. Long, the schoolwork's done, you've tidied your room, made your bed, the world's yours, you're going to do what you want.
But the fact of he hates the schoolwork and he doesn't want to do it,
just makes me angry and just makes me kick off and take these things.
So as I say, you learn me 12 year old on the other hand that just does everything right. Yeah, he's just dead, the their their their thaketeeteeteeteeteeteeteeteeteeteeteeteeteeteeteete's just, their their th. their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their th. thirty. thirty. thirty. the. theat's just theat. that. their theat. the. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. the. theat. theat. theat theat theat theat theat theat the. theat the. theat the hard mate I say the nine year old he's his mother's project I've got the one

Because he's gonna learn everything from me and I'm there 24-7 I know we've got
we've got to go through nearly at the end but what is your plan with the one you're what things are you going to try and do just I'm going to teach him that he never gives in he fights with everything he's got
if anyone ever challenges him or puts it on his toes I'm gonna I'm gonna seen
into the best golf forever I'm gonna get him playing golf as soon as he can
swing a golf club I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm not gonna teach him to box becauserow a few punches and self-defense. I've done that with the others so my other boys could give someone a belt if need be. If it goes wrong, boom, there's one on your chin,
I have a bit of that. A bit of football. My Carter is at a really good level to be honest. He's a
brilliant goalkeeper, he's a really good at that. I've just got so many ideas that I want to do the one-year-year the their th. th. couple years older to see how the project's going.
I'm telling you now, if I can get someone to click on up here with him who's a bit more
advanced than me, then he's going to be the best for me, he's going to be brilliant.
Hopefully you're saying this out, but the other kids won't see.
I'm looking back at the door see. We'll play this back in 18 years time and
we'll see. This will be in the documentary. The champion of a countdown, the champion of the
chas the champion of football, golf, this could be anything. Amazing. Well good a lot of it,
thank you so much. Thank you so much. Really enjoyed this. It's been great.
Thank you man. It was brilliant. It was brilliant. It was a pleasure, boys.
Tony Bellew, Josh, I need to apologize if I got a bit to boxing nerdy there.
That was...
I don't think it did.
I think at points, you know.
I understood it all, Rob.
Brilliant.
That's the main thing. I understood it all.
He's a boxer, right. You th. I, I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. th. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. I understood it all. He's a boxer, right? I mean, you should have told me before the interview started. I had to work that one out as
we're going on. He is the king of the octagon, that guy. I just love, but I've got so much respect
for boxers. It's just insane what they do. And it annoys me little, but they don't get the respect. The-I their their their their their their the respect th. th. th. th. th. thu thu thu it thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi. thi. thi. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. their the. their their the fitness level you need to be outrageous and the technique of actually boxing,
the actual punched in the face and the toughness of it
is not, you know, that important.
I did some boxing training Rob,
years ago for fitness.
Oh yeah, not for not for not the week under my belt.
I had a couple of bouts, off Rob. I did it for the Olympics but then I just started on fitness. Once I got
to mock the week under my belt I thought I don't know whether I need my boxing anymore.
Do you know what the most difficult bit fitness wise is? You've got to be on your toes
the whole time. I know that sounds like the calf muscles I know. The calf muscles you need to be
try all your listeners try bouncing around on your toes,
forward and back for a minute now,
and it is absolutely brutal.
Yeah, so if you do that, right?
So don't just, no being punched or throwing a punch,
but bouncing your toes for 12 lots of three minutes.
And you'll be physically sick.
So imagine, while doing that, throwing punches, getting punching in the head and avoiding a pun. It's like a dance, a choreography and I don't think, because it's like a working class sport,
it's not, it's sort of just deemed just two blokes fine. It never gets the respect it deserves.
But eat that aside, wonderful bloke Tony Bell you, and what an interesting interview,
which it's so different the type of people we get on the show. It's quite similar. It Perry. Can I ask a question about it? Because I didn't want to, I should have asked.
When he says slap, slap them on the ass.
Does he mean slap them on the ass?
I think it's a turn of phrase really, but I do think potentially, I don't, well I don't, well
I don't think you actually, I don't think he I think it means a bit of a bollockin, a bit of you're being told off now type of thing rather than the...
Slap on the ass is a bit more like a carry-on film isn't it? Yeah, well exactly. I implies
that it's sort of like everyone's evacuee clothing just shuffling down a little pair of like a thick cotton shorts and a thick cotton shalt.... thick cotton, thick cotton, like, like, thick cotton, like, like, thick cotton, like, like, thick cotton, like, thick cotton, thick cotton, like, thick, like, thick, like, thick, like, thick, like, like a their their their thick, like, their thick, like, like, like, like, their thoom, their their their their their their their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a their, a the little hats and gowns. I'm imagining even chasing
his kids around like Benny Hill. That's how I'm imagining it. Well no, yeah, so I don't know if he
it means it like that, we'll have to clarify on that, but I remember watching a documentary
about him on Sky Sports about his boxing. I remember him brushing his teeth and I remember thinking, they are the most aggressively clean teeth I've ever seen in my life..... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm th. Yeah, I'm thi. Yeah, I'm thi. Yeah, I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm that's, I'm that's, I'm that's thi's thi. Yeah, I'm thi. Yeah, I'm thi. Yeah, I'm seen in my life. I've made a Tony Bell, you're brushing your teeth. But he's a lovely man and he loves his kids to absolute pieces and his wife and it's
yeah, it's great to have him on.
But yeah, it's so different in that, you know, but those different backgrounds where
he probably thinks he's being really soft on his kids.
Yeah.
Yeah. And that was the, imagine walking past him on that golf course. Bladie Lowe, six foot four, six foot three, just cuddling and slapping each other.
They must have thought it would arouing over the golf score.
Yeah, there's someone there who's taken and dropped ball when they shouldn't.
That kind of situation.
Someone shouting from whole three. You're only cheating yourself.
The book is called Everyone's Got a Plan until you punch them in the face.
Until you get punched in the face.
Oh yeah, of course, till you get punched in the face.
Yeah, he got it wrong.
So, um...
But, um...
I'm wrong.
That he planned to say it right.
Um, it's available for pre-order.
Now we will be back on Tuesday.
Bye.
