See how to get it on a Thursday before break in the morning This is the drug tank podcast Yeah Talking about games food and the fragtals maybe even Gus just up as one That was a good short with Jeff Gus, Bernie, Joe Matt, Griffin, Carrie, Monty. So we
Starting point is 00:01:55 better get started with the drunk tank podcast today. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, Go Carry! Hey, what's up? It's the podcast. What was that last part? Go Carry! Go Carry, yeah. How was it for you? Hey, representing.
Starting point is 00:02:12 How did you like Carry? Carry's birthday was this week, so... So you let him see you limited the intro song. No, that was not Carry's favorite intro song. That was someone from the website. Need more cowbell, but other than that was good. If you would like to make your own podcast theme song and with more cowbell Send it to podcast at roosterteeth.com
Starting point is 00:02:28 That must be what that must be nine months old? No, that's from February of 11. So that's 15 months old You have like I mean we've rebranded to like now. It's not a drunk tank now. It's Roosterteeth podcast Yes, you still have all these songs with that drunk tank layer lyrics. You try to burn through those? No, just whatever. Just slurring. Don't walk in with a six pack this morning. And I say to all the court, we record in the morning. I said, Joluz, you're, you're already in his response to us. Well, that was it. Joluz on, Joluz on Australia time. I am on Australia time. I was drinking the whole time I was on Australia time. Wow, Australia. So I figured I just keep going. Jet lag sucks. Yeah, jet lag is awful. They say it's worse going east. Have you recovered yet? I'd agree with that. I like I like going west. No, I haven't recovered yet and it's harder. I think it's harder the older you are and just you know set in
Starting point is 00:03:21 your in your way. I'm still like into a four in the morning. I only have a four in the morning. Does that taste like an evening beer right now? Or is that very morning beer? It tastes like an evening, yeah. It's an evening beer. What time is it in Australia right now, do you know? I don't know. It's fucking, drink O'bear or fucking O'clock.
Starting point is 00:03:33 It's like, it's like tomorrow or like tomorrow. Tomorrow, one a.m. or something. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So you should be really wasted by now. Because your way behind. Just as a backpack with a bottle opener on it. You know, we how fucking win is that?
Starting point is 00:03:47 We travel a lot. We talked about it. And we've I've encountered situations where while traveling, I'll buy a six pack of beer and realize I don't have a bottle opener. So I bought that backpack specifically because it has a bottle opener built in. You know, the backpack is the new Swiss Army knife. Like I just bought a new backpack for the trip. It's like it cannot have enough things attached
Starting point is 00:04:06 to the backpack because that backpack, you were living with that thing, night date, northern hemisphere, southern hemisphere, anywhere you are. Yeah, that backpack is. But I had to say they all put something on them that I just like, I'm not buying. Like for instance, they all have that little like
Starting point is 00:04:21 grominated rubber hole where you're supposed to put your headphones through. Like you're gonna put your MPG buttons. I didn't know, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no little like, like, grommeted rubber hole where you're supposed to put your headphones through. Like, you're gonna put your MPG like, I didn't know. No, no, no, no, no, no, back back back That looks like the movie that looks like your first aid kit is listening to music It does look like that. Yeah, it looks like your health pack wants to tell you It's when he had the values have shifted over the last hundred years where back in the day It was like oh, I need a knife to help me out of the situation now. I've got to have an MP3 player mm-hmm You have to have a smartphone. So when you fly to Australia you cross the date line, right? Yes
Starting point is 00:05:06 So Australia from the US where we are in the US were negative six GMT Here's the best way I think about it. They're nine hours earlier than us tomorrow Right, so you go forward a day and go back eight hours. Yeah, you take off from Austin like applying Austin a Melbourne Takes up like the from the second you walk into Melbourne takes like from the second you walk into the airport Austin the second you walk out the airport at Melbourne. It's about a 24 hour trip You'd land two days after you take off So like you leave here on a one day you get there on a Wednesday I mean and then when you fly back you land on the same day you took off so you take off like a let's say Friday at
Starting point is 00:05:40 8 a.m. And you land Friday like at noon So is it possible to land before you took off? Is it possible to land before you took off? Oh, I Think you know, it's funny because I had to but you're yeah, yeah, it is possible It is possible but for me it's like I was going from Gold Coast to Sydney Sydney, LA, Austin So it's like yeah, but it's like had I left from Sydney measuring Every time you tap the table watching Gus cringes every time table So I'm alive. Hey Gold Coast kept appearing on the itinerary for our events
Starting point is 00:06:12 It sounds like an amusement park. What is it? It's a city it's cool gold. No, yeah, it's right on the coast. It's a is Gold Coast the name of the city or is that a region in Australia? I thought that was a region. I think it's a gold coast right Right. I think it's a city. But I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I was drunk most of the time. I mean, once I got to LAX, it was, you know, dropping by and drinking beers and that was it. Dropping my kittens and drinking beef. I know it's it. But I had a good time. Many interesting things happen to us. You were a majority of the stories? So you mentioned Marshall went with you.
Starting point is 00:06:48 We had four panels and met a ton of fans, and it went really well. They saw all the fans monitor's walked in. Four panels? Four panels, four panels. And they all went really well. We showed the action sequence. Everyone went crazy for it, so that went well. Gold Coast is a coastal city located in the southeast of the state. Nice
Starting point is 00:07:07 Queensland Australia. It was great because this trip was a little bit different because we were sort of on the Supernova Star list or whatever. So when you purchase Nikon of the... I don't know but it's like we basically got the treatment of all the stars of all the people who were there and it's funny I kept running into a lot of the firefly people, and I kind of knew some of the Firefly people. Did you always shave half your face? You've done that before, right? This is something I had to do, but I'm like to say, how long it takes for people to notice that I've got half a beard.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Bernie's been talking to me for about an hour. Didn't notice. Don't care. Because the hair in your face matches your skin color exactly. There's some people that are straight away like Mike who is like, you have half a beard. It's like the idea. But you look at people like an owl and you go, that means Michael doesn't have enough work.
Starting point is 00:07:56 That's what it means. That's what it means. So this guy, who is the guy who is drunk at 1030 in the morning. Well this is part of the work. This is part, I had to the drugstore by this in this morning and think it will it's for work How did you manage? I also charge you to the company And I can't remember what the rules are for buying beer in Texas But I guess it's okay now. Yeah, you used to be okay. You can't buy it after midnight But when can you start buying it again? Like right right? Like, that's the big thing. It's like a midnight.
Starting point is 00:08:25 I thought this is like 9.30 in the morning. Why is that limits on when you can buy boots? Because people are silly. I'm not sure every state in the US has that, but Texas has a history as a Baptist state. Can you buy beer on Sunday? Yes, but you cannot buy hard liquor in Texas on Sunday. Anyway, is it just close? Yes.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Yeah, liquor stores are closed. So what if there's liquor in a supermarket? There is no liquor in Texas on Sunday. Anyway, is it just closed? Yes. Yeah, liquor stores are closed. So what if there's liquor in a supermarket? There is no liquor in a supermarket. It's the other thing about Texas. You've been holding beer and wine are in the supermarket. Only certain stores sell liquor. Wow. But as an offshoot of that, we then have these major
Starting point is 00:08:58 megaplex size liquor stores. There's one on the cross street from us. Yeah. Where it's nice. Nothing's on liquor stores. They're all marked with alcohol. There are some states where the state government controls the liquor stores. That is correct. Like you washed and stayed and you tied, believe. Like where it's like, you know, it's not crazy because you go there and it's like you have superpowers because the alcohol content is reduced in the alcohol
Starting point is 00:09:19 there. And so it's like you just drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink. Hmm. Remember when we went to some of the places. Yeah, I don't know. I totally agree. And so it's like you drive-through fort made out of Beer boxes and you like drive and they just give you awesome, right? What is that called Louisiana? That thing was cool. I'm running barn. I've never seen one of those anyway. Yeah, those are great I feel like a lot of states don't have that. I feel like Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I could have been visiting you're like, what the hell is that you drive through? I into it. You say I want this and then so guy goes and grab it and give back. You never even get out of your car. Yeah, the ultimate
Starting point is 00:10:13 and laziness McDonald's could learn something from that. When I moved to Texas has a young kid. I remember that they were changing the law that you couldn't drink in your car. I don't yeah. So you couldn't be drunk, but you could drink in your car. I don't, yeah. So you couldn't be drunk, but you could drink in your car. As long as you didn't go to bed. In 1989. Fun and in 1980. So you used to literally, literally be able to drink and drive. Yeah, you could drink in your car.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Wow, it's called the Open Container Law, but you could drink. And like, it was a big deal because these days it was part of Texas culture to get your first beer on the way home. So you could drink the one-to-the-road. Yeah, you don't hear that too much often anymore. That sort of went well. I just told you a story and it's like I'm not trying to tell the round or whatever hanging out and so like there's that they Maint-faction them in a plant Gavin by the way they're not bears I get yelled at
Starting point is 00:11:09 What are they? They're not bears. They're more soupy-holes. I guess I don't know They're coming fucking further fucking bears. Mountain has knowledge, but apparently it's like they part of like if you're if you're they call the super stars I guess if you're on the events list for a thing It's just like they had a thing. Oh, they take you to a park and apparently it's the only place in Australia where it's legal to handle a quality fuck this sounds awesome Yeah, you can go there and they give you the closet They hand you a colabair and the colabair holds on to you and you hold the colabair and to take pictures Everyone has a great fucking time and it's fantastic. Hold qualibar that's why I'm gonna show you that's what you guys right, but we were looking at this
Starting point is 00:11:49 Martian, I were looking at this my picking the mic. We're looking at this and we we discovered that it's illegal to do that Everywhere else in Australia like law like you'll be right like a law. It's illegal to do that across a parents one region It's like no, the it's like the Vegas of Australia it's like where max happened no rules no rules and we're thinking a bit I mean that's got to be if it's illegal and all the other there's got to be that's probably we shouldn't do that there's got to be a reason why yeah right that's right I'm more concerned that when you throw out all laws the first thing you do is hug a cool that's what the for big fruit right you really want to get me a guava
Starting point is 00:12:27 i need a hug right now well apparently the qualifiers have been hugging each other a lot because they all have chlamydia get out of here all the qualis have chlamydia it's a big fucking problem apparently what is chlamydia chlamydia is a chelialator
Starting point is 00:12:42 sexless disease the qualis is get chlamydia from well marchinally looks at each other that's what you know what is a missha the well you know what we don't need to do this we're just not going to go on this we're not i don't need a handle of arguing
Starting point is 00:12:56 if you got committee from a call about that no it would it's funny that you say that we're pretty good we're no symptoms right for guys when that when we were in Melbourne And we got a we had to get a cab back from the event. We got this grizzled old taxi driver and the taxi driver was like You can't go by the casino because that one
Starting point is 00:13:15 That's the account of grizzled the other way from ah that one boy band one direction is playing there She can't go anywhere near there. We're like, oh, that's that's weird. Well one direction Then we got to go coast there were there too and So help me God Friday the next day I open up my web browser and there it is There's a headline Member of one direction gets Climidia handling a crawl there really shit Unbelievable, Ben will be devastated. He lives under it. Unbelievable. Did he really get chlamydia?
Starting point is 00:13:46 Well, that's what the headline, I have this, I have it. What was the headline you have there? Like, can you read it? I have it. It says koala chlamydia. One direction boy band member fear, well, boy band members fear infection. The koala took a pee on him.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Oh. And now they're worried. You have to pay extra for that. I don't know as I declared it in the base package. There's reasons for laws. He did that. He did that. So did the pee just seek for his skin?
Starting point is 00:14:13 Did he go in his mouth? No, I don't know. Apparently he didn't know how to hold it correctly and he's holding it right to his face. And just, oh, yeah. He's like, quick, just to face. How do I hold it with my tongue? I don't know. So does he really have it or does he just fear that he has it? Oh, yeah, I don't know how I hold it with my tongue. I don't know
Starting point is 00:14:30 So does he really have it or does he just fear that he has a direction was really inspired by Chuck Berry That's that's Did Chuck Berry have chock Berry had a series of videos of pee videos that were leaked at one point leaked What do you mean pee video? What was that? I want to make sure I have the right rock legend. I don't think you have the right Are you talking about arc Kelly? Because it seems more topical or is it um, I tell you it was the kids. No, it's Jerry What's that guy's man? Jerry Lee Lewis? He's got a guy who's cousin and in Pete on him Not the fuck I'm just making this shit up now
Starting point is 00:15:03 He's just looking at his little browser. I'm going over that. I love Google Wouldn't you go to type in things you want to be my fact checking and I type in Chuck Berry He wanted to Chuck Berry Chuck Berry guitar Chuck Berry rock and roll Chuck Berry piss party Sorry, that's not pretty much confirms this is from you go.com Chuck Berry's piss party the man Wily regarded as the single most influential force on of early rock and roll has had a tumultuous life. Chuck Berry was not just an enormous innovator of good techniques, but also of crying before we were the first recorded car jackings in 1944. Wow, wow, innovator! Yeah, Berry would also go to jail for transporting an underage waitress across state lines in 1959.
Starting point is 00:15:41 This guy gets more awesome than more I read this. But the other thing, fun died in 1989. Yeah, for it. That's what rock and roll was about back then. So I'm curious to know what year the supposed piss party happened. Because like did he set a film camera? Like it was a home camera? Yeah, here it is. But the other king of rocks most enduring scandal lies in the form of an innocent little video cassette. And this is duplicated and distributed in the underground, which purports to show Barry urinating on a young girl in a hotel bathtub. Back then, how do you get caught for anything?
Starting point is 00:16:16 Like back then, how do you get caught for anything? It seems like you could do anything at any time and there's no history, record history. Like, especially if it was filmed, like I don't know if it was a video cassette that maybe it was later when you had VHS or something But if you're gonna do that like in the 50s to sit up like I don't know So an 8 millimeter camera and be like all right. We're gonna get this all set up We've got you know so many minutes of film go like that was there was a lot more effort back Then I was oh, I'm just gonna record this on my phone. Yeah, and now has measured legacy at this point is his fourth entry is P party on Google that's pretty much what your legacy is going to be, right?
Starting point is 00:16:46 Alright, here I've got to read another little blurb here. This podcast is brought to you by Twitch.tv, the world's largest video game broadcasting chat community. Twitch.tv features video from the top gaming personalities, players, tournaments, leagues, and commentary. In addition to the most active and interesting discussions around video games, one channel to consider is the mega 64 podcast To get started discovering awesome games of players check out twitch.tv What a great segue into that I read I like the idea now someone at twitch TV showing someone else to twitch TV Look what was people cut set about I think you're up and it just is like piss pie
Starting point is 00:17:21 Like a cool commit. There like a billion live stream puns right now. Don't cross the streams. We're going to be when we start doing our live video podcasts, we're going to be streaming it on Twitch. That's where we did the Left for Dead play through a couple weeks ago. Why does our Twitch account? RT podcast. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:42 So the only thing on there right now is the Lifer Dead playthrough we did a couple weeks ago, but once we get our set built and set up, then we'll start streaming there. Some asshole took Switch.tv slash Montiom. Maybe there's another. Maybe there's another Monti. No, no. Same guy who took Halo. Maybe it's you from the future.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Like directly after I made Halo in Montiom.com just got bought instantly. I got to go to Montiom.com. I don't know what it is. If you release any more videos and you have a title for them, before you release them, you can think you're due diligence. That is good advice because I just came up with a really good idea of Bernie and I have to tell you about later. We have one of our domains as laps is gonna be lapsing this summer and I just said now I need all to some people asking if we should renew it or not.
Starting point is 00:18:27 I think changing a lot of that where you can buy dots, seals and dot whatever now. Yeah, there's like a million of them. I mean that's really gonna diffract a lot of the, I don't know. I don't think that shit matters. That shit might matter eventually. All anyone cares about is.com.
Starting point is 00:18:39 We're right now. Do you still have dickfoughtviginabut.com? Yeah, nice. The why wouldn't I? Also, I mean, a lot of that stuff is going away anyway, because most people, there's a lot of people who think that the web is dead. There's no such thing as .causinmore.
Starting point is 00:18:55 You just get your Facebook page and you get your Twitter account. Well, what's happening is the webs retracting. Like, you know, I'm sure you remember, when the web, or when people's first experiences with the internet happened in the early 90s, it was through a service like AOL where you would dial into the service and it was kind of a walled experience where you would get your news in there, your chat and email portal through Facebook now. Now everyone's portaled through mobile apps on their phone.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Oh, okay. Where it's like you don't actually visit a website, you just look at an app which is an encapsulated experience. So I think that that's what's happening. No one's gonna care about the way, but it's just gonna be app driven. You have apps on your laptop, you have an app on your phone.
Starting point is 00:19:31 You ever watch an old person use the internet? You want to stab yourself. Have you ever watched an old person try and check in at the app for one of the things? That's how I feel when I watch other people who's computers in general, no one's fast enough. Well, she came in and he was stood behind me for a while. This is probably a few months ago. And he was like I was like, oh hey once you're what you're doing
Starting point is 00:19:48 It's just like I'm just watching you work inefficiently Yeah, so I was looking up we have a discussion today about registering domain names and letting domain names Inspired so obviously we have some domain names that are very important like if Ristarty.com expired I know you're gonna talk about kind of a big deal So I so I was talking because you can't have no talk about it today So we have red verse blue.com is registered right now through January 30th of 2018 and as I'm talking about this I'm pushing out to like as far as I can which will probably be future 2022 at this point and Ristarty would be currently have registered through July 8th 2019.
Starting point is 00:20:30 So that's a far, it's something we do 10 years out as a first week. Did you register those by the same time? No, no because RRGT wasn't RRGT didn't exist before and versus blue. That is correct because it's based off cock bite. But why did how did nobody take it? Because we didn't say anything about rooster teeth at first. I know how to go back I don't know the history of whenever it's like your guys are deciding a company name. You're like the first episode. No, it's it red versus blue dot com. Yeah, I would have registered it as soon as we as soon as we received went up on the internet, I would have registered it before there. Because I'm so we we we come from that background.
Starting point is 00:21:05 You're a good about where you used to set being good. Probably registered red versus blue when you made the initial trailer. Yeah, August the summer before and then two when the when that looks like my start coming out, you probably registered RESTRIT. And I will register domain names for something just mentioned in a video. Like I have some halo related ones. Like you just you just registered qualia idea quality that
Starting point is 00:21:28 that's a that's a yeah but the uh... like I have someone's from halo videos that we did and I just went on grab them like I have some bungee and halo related domains because once you publish like even a joke domain what i'm always worried about is like oh we have a funny thing like
Starting point is 00:21:43 whatever dot com presidential flux that's a great example so if we if we mention it in a video we have to register it because I'd last thing I wanted to you are L in one of our videos that then turns into a porn site you know and people end up going to it well it's a potential sluts that I come is actually one that was you know that but then I know somebody else out there will grab it if it it occurs so what is the mentality there like they think they're going to get views off of your friends. I love an AMA from somebody who does that. Like what what is the revenue on a parked website? Like the for what how much money do they actually make from the ads on
Starting point is 00:22:15 there? Yep. Because it never seems like their quality ads. It's just like. Who puts the ads on Google ads? Who puts the ads on registered websites? They will pre-bought by a company and then you buy from that company or they just loose you in the world. You just, like, you could buy any unpurchased URL from any company, right? So it's like, it's still up in the air. Typically you register like a Google ad sense account or something and they just put whatever excess inventory they have on there.
Starting point is 00:22:42 So that's why it's always like really crappy ads on there or ads by Google with all the owes. Right. Who is Google? So you can trademark your name, Monty, and then make a case that you have the trademark from Monty Omen. Go grab all your stuff. You might not even do that with a your personal name the Harold Doesn't getting a trademark take a long time though. Oh, he's a mighty. Oh I think about this stuff trademark does take a while actually actually a registered trademark takes a while a trademark really doesn't take like the TM Mm-hmm is different than the R with the circle. What's the difference? So TM I think you can just do like copyrights like that to the others like years
Starting point is 00:23:24 Yeah, you have to get registered with the government You have to prove like you have to put your we did this with the Rusey you get to put the Rusey logo out there I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say it But I'm going to talk about anyway, so we put it out there and we actually got a rejection For a registered trademark. We're gonna come back and you know fight it that we initially were rejected because somebody Complained about the rooster on clothing that we were going to put on t-shirts and things like that. That was there. One of them would bring confusion or they were trademark confusion. And so there
Starting point is 00:23:54 was another clothing company called, you might know them, LaCoc sportif. They have a rooster there. They have a rooster on clothing and they automatically rejected. They said, nope, this is infringes on our trademark and we fought it and show it just to include an alligator Yeah, I was in there with it But I'm seeing our logo used and stolen by other people. I've seen that too There was a clothing manufacturer that was using our rooster And I guess they tried to claim that it was just like a clip art rooster They were using but we know the guy that
Starting point is 00:24:23 Drew it. Where is the first Ristik logo? It was like Google image such. It was like a metallic rooster and- From a weather map. Yeah, like chattering teed. I think you could still just find that one. Yeah, it was an episode's one through six. And then I said, we need to actually have a real logo for our company.
Starting point is 00:24:38 Didn't you use those again recently? Weren't those on the Halo 4 announcement date video? I doubt it. No, no. No, no. Oh, no, it was on the teaser. We showed it. I doubt it. No, no, no. No, no, no. Oh, no, it was on the teaser we showed it. These were the slaming. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:50 We've finished on the original one yet. But does the name Rooster Teeth ever make it difficult for you to do anything that isn't comedy? The brand name, it's interesting. I mean, we've talked about the brand name in general, you know, because it's kind of an inside joke in a way. Yeah. Not in a way it is. You know, it started that way, but it's one of the things that once you became known
Starting point is 00:25:08 for it, it just established what your brand is. I think that brands tend to transcend their meaning. Like, I never think about what the word Amazon means when I go to Amazon.com. Yeah. Amazon is just a place where I go to get, to get, you know, books or get whatever. But I buy everything to the Amazon. What do you think of when you say Amazon? Like do you think of a tall woman or you think of a river? I think river. See I think of a tall woman. Why? Amazon why do you really have to that question why is that what I do? Amazon is living. I would see
Starting point is 00:25:37 God anyway, so when I say People come on. Do you really not know that Do you really you didn't know the Amazon's? Like if I say to try the Amazon. I mean surely at the very least you've seen the episode of Futurama. No. Do you know who Wonder Woman is? Wonder Woman is an American. She's a...
Starting point is 00:25:53 Oh, alright. She's tall. But uh... Do you ever feel like just picking up? Even with branding Bernie though, like just the way our logo looks, you know, a rooster and a chatroom teeth. Just feels inherently comedic, you know? So we were actually doing we're in the middle of producing some non-comedy, exactly.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Exactly, exactly. And I am thinking about that again. You go to, like, the people who go to the company. I don't think it matters. Yeah. No. We might change the way we, I think there's a history of entertainment companies that have had logos like that. It's on for three seconds or an hour out here. I mean, the fact that it has some sort of weight or meaning to the
Starting point is 00:26:27 audience, I think is good. When I see the Dreamworks logo or I see Pixar, it just tells me, like I know what their company does. What about something like bad robot? Or just like that? That's a good point. Kind of like quirky, looking little robot that runs through the field and stops and looks in there. But that one has like almost like it's both kind of in as an and dark, you know, it does two things at once so they can kind of do. I feel like they changed the coloring on it though. Like when they started doing movies they made it like a little darker.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Oh, the more that kind of portrays that. That's true. The logos have evolved, right? You have to be careful with registered trademarks though because the spacing and everything is actually set. So when you change it, you've got to go back and re-register the trademarker, which can take up a lot of time. Well, when you change the logo physically. Yeah, wow.
Starting point is 00:27:12 For it to be a registered trademark here. So how have you thought about just our logo and company name in general in regards to this new stuff that we're trying to put out? So like for the non-communication that we're working on right now, we just might not use the logo. You know, we just use the name of the company, but not always. You know what I've seen that done too. Yeah. And then you just, you know, present it that way. At the end, like, the end of the credits. Or just, I don't know why. The reason the registered blue videos are like that, we're just as Rooster Teeth prevents at the beginning. I just
Starting point is 00:27:38 say that's the two lines either side of Rooster Teeth. Yeah, I think when we start doing, maybe some reconstruction stuff, we move that way way and some of the trailers are like that too But um, we had a chance at one point to read to purchase RVB dot com which is a three-letter domain name and I thought that was really important So I was like it was a big deal to get a three-letter domain name There was always a talk did there was no two letters and no one letter what you're gonna get to they would not allow them to they exist Yes, okay, I see you don't comment stuff. They would not allow them. Do they exist? Yes. Paypal.com.
Starting point is 00:28:06 I like XC.com. Yeah, Paypal.com was XC.com. And I received metheguyonesxc.com. Yeah. And because he funds a lot of web series. And he was talking about that. He was sold when he registered XC that no one letter domain names were allowed. And he was pissed because Paypal got X.com.
Starting point is 00:28:21 How did they get a hold of that? I have no idea. I have no idea. It's just early days of land grab Those things all went really fast and then when we were doing it, I realized, pay back was that old I guess it I hate it. They've not started in like 98 I think. Good God. So what happened to RVV.com? So I thought this was really important I said, hey, we got a chance to buy RVV.com. It was $25,000 and this was probably about Three years ago. It was longer than that. I thought it was
Starting point is 00:28:49 God I must it was old five. No, no, no, no, it wasn't it was a little because we were pretty well established as RVB So it was what it wasn't really it was related to red versus blue It wasn't related to Roochkey So the discussion was do we want to spend all this money to have a really cool domain But it's still tied to one of our shows, right? You know even though it's you know, you know arguably our flagship show But now our B.Me.com. It's funny. I just went to it. It goes to a YouTube When you go to a YouTube channel release a sexy Mandarin video Yeah, that's what that's like that's a lot of money
Starting point is 00:29:19 But no people convince me that it was not more than 25,000. Yeah, you are Or worth it anymore That's your discussion if your sears.com. Okay,000. I know, yeah, I know. I know if you're else or worth it anymore. I don't know. That's your discussion. If you're Sears.com, okay, if you're Sears, okay, that makes sense. Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:30 But it's like, otherwise, I don't know if URLs hold the weight anymore. You know, people enter URL once, if once maybe. You know, if they really like to cite the new bookmark, you never look at it again. I don't know. That's true. Like, do you use bookmarks? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:42 Also, these days, the brow, like, if your brows are smart enough, you just type vaguely the word. Exactly. Yeah, that's what I do. That's the general direction. I like type in the general direction. It's just, it's still a symbol of, like, a symbol of status still there. Like, if you see someone who's got a .net or .org, you're like, you know, not as impressed by what their company does. Okay, so here's the, especially if it's Facebook. Or like if they have, you can tell someone's a late
Starting point is 00:30:09 adopter too because like on Twitter, they have like the real James Earl Jones, you know, or some of that, not the non-James Earl Jones, right? Why does Twitter give people their names? That's what I understand. I was actually an early adopter on Twitter. I have the at Bernie account. Is it at Bernie?
Starting point is 00:30:24 Why didn't you use that one? I, I, because at Bernie Burns, it felt like, you know, because my, oh, my everything, everything else, because no one ever says Brad, they say Brad Pitt. Sure, it just felt like it felt like it felt like better to have Bernie Burns. It just felt like a better idea to start using that account. It gets to the point where you're just, you're share. I know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:43 But do we want to be? I think when I, when I joined Twitter, I tried to get Gus and I couldn't. I joined the Rupert Heath website early enough that I actually got Monty. We didn't have to change it. I was just Monty. Nice. So you've had the same username the whole for like nine years now? Eight years? And I got that bastard asshole.
Starting point is 00:30:59 The problem. I got it like for a... For a bad no one to take in that. We were saving it for you, Joel. Thanks. Gus, you're one of the few members of recenteeth.com who you never changed their username. Well, I was using number three, so I got to get my pick.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Yeah, everyone else picked different names, and then changed them. Oh. Like, well Gus is easy. It's like a three-letter. I feel like there's no, well, I'm sitting in the room right now with BuzzBe and Joe Act. Yeah. Yeah, there's a reasonably BuzzBe. Who now, but in Joel.
Starting point is 00:31:24 You're Joel now, right? Oh, you still do. Yeah. act. Yeah. You guys are originally Buzz be. Who now, but in Joel. You're Joel now, right? Or you still do? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:40 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no I will never go back there again. Why? Because I got there like we drove, you know like an hour or whatever to get there Uh, we got there like a 12 30 I put my name on the list It took me an hour and 45 minutes to get a fucking table. No, can't do it. Yeah, I was like no, thank you No, I'll never go back the cinnamon bun was huge, but it's like it's a huge
Starting point is 00:32:19 Was it you guys who said that when we go to events you go to the most expensive restaurant? Because they know it's a pretty pointed that out, but yeah events you go to the most expensive restaurant because I don't know what any point that out but yeah, I saw the crack-carned bills. Oh, okay. I Anyway, the cinnamon flow Flick the flick the flick the flick. I don't judge. I don't really have a lot of judgment with employees But I'll tell you what there is this thing that happens once a month and that is we get the credit card statement and a vong who is our vice president of operations She recently promoted credit license, a van. She sends out the credit card statement and we all have to go through and update our charges.
Starting point is 00:32:48 And I'll see, like, my section, Bernie, is like four charges. And then Joel's like eight charges, you know, Matt's like 15. And then fucking Gus is like eight thousand charges. I know, every month I look at that tune, like the number of lines I have is like eight thousand charges. Like every month I look at that tune, like the number of lines I have is like, everyone else is added together times five.
Starting point is 00:33:10 It is amazing. You were like, what is it? You have a problem. Is it like coffee, coffee, coffee? No, no, no, it's like lots of equipment and travel. So like we just went through packs and stuff like that. So it's just like tons of shit for that.
Starting point is 00:33:23 I prescribed to that the restaurant thing because when we were at Paxi, so I was like, I'm going to get the most expensive lobster possible. I like when we had that meeting and you were like, Hey, that red light on that thing went off. That's going to be a credit card charge. Oh, right.
Starting point is 00:33:38 But it's the amount you have. It's like eight a day. I mean, it's like, I just when you break it down like this a month period and you divide Gus's lines. I think if I had to get on my credit card 8 times a day, it's not going wrong. Just memorize it. Do you have your credit card numbers memorized? Yeah, so do I. I don't think my wife got one first got married, but I never have to grab my wallet because I know all of my credit card numbers to CID's and expiration dates.
Starting point is 00:34:00 I'm same way. I don't want to spend money that fast. I Mean just in my own personal life that makes it you know what's dumb about this country you can spend money on someone else's credit card How can you spend money? Someone else's face just go her card stolen and then someone was like Like spend like 600 bucks on a card immediate it's in the UK shipping pin on every purchase. There's no Swipe big sign in Australia. They were very very structured about it and it's like I there was a whole process It doesn't hand me the card back. It doesn't make any sense that you're signing. I mean, what does that do? What are you signing someone in London where we went for MCM? I like I tried to buy some food for us in the booth as I walked up to the place I told him what I wanted I give him my credit card and he would not take it because it wasn't shipping pin
Starting point is 00:34:44 Well, yes, it's you could be like he was like how do I how do I do this? I just wipe it. It's like giving my day food what you're saying is crimes are easy to commit and you know what? Yes, yeah, yes they are crimes are easy It seems ridiculous that you can use someone else's code without having to know any number It's this ridiculous that you can use someone else's card without having to know any number. It seems awesome. What about you? I didn't know. I didn't know. So like for Chippin' Pin, like let's say I stole your Chippin' Pin card and I went
Starting point is 00:35:10 to Amazon and made purchases. How would Amazon authenticate the pin? Well that's a thing you don't have to... You have to have a pin because the pin is something you're ever... I love it. I love it. I love it. I love it. I love it. I love it. I love it. I love it. I love it. Where is it? I'm curious about this checkout process.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Does it ask for it? Or could I just use the number and buy it online? With my credit card, when I try and buy something online, it will go through the checkout of that website, and then it will take me to my bank's thing. Oh fuck, I hate that shit. I was put in my pin. I wasn't aware of this until Gavin came here and Bernie points it out constantly, but I guess there's like a more protectionist mentality. F-poss. Right? No, it's called F-poss. Is that cool? I just like watching Americans put their cards into our machines because they put them in and take them out immediately and the machine's like
Starting point is 00:35:52 Ah, you're not swiping so what it would do is you'll put your card in it will read the chip and it will hold your card But if you put it out like just before it holds it the machine just gets really confused and I'm just like watching America Just go like and it's like that nothing's happening. You need a hobby. That's just hobby. I'm not your American's use. Watching Bumble League of Manning have this beard off. Yeah, Monty, in general in the UK there's a higher degree of protectionism. Also there's privacy doesn't seem to be as big a deal in the UK. You still have privacy, just not in public. But why don't you want to do it in public gonna do in public? Do you wouldn't I mean?
Starting point is 00:36:28 There's no cameras in your home. They see the cameras is the big thing that we talk about there's cameras all over the place in You can just really run them. They're manned cameras Hmm London the entire economy of London is based off of drunk people videos Because they have I love the running all the time that dude's journey was followed all the way home drunk people videos that they're able to capture and put out of the world economy because they have a lot of them that are running all the time. That dude's journey was followed all the way home. You can see every time I'm a fumbling face ground journey. That's worth it. That's worth it. When civilization collapses and Eons from now, an alien race or a future race on Earth finds our culture
Starting point is 00:37:04 underground. The way they're going to document everything that happened in our culture is from UK CCTV videos, archives, or it's going to be entirely reconstructed from dashboard cams in Russia. Why is everyone in Russia own a dashboard? I don't know. See that one of the guy with the way it's like pointing at him? It's not pointing out. He's just got one arm on the other seat. He's just driving along the other side. And because the camera is fixed to the car, you just see him like, hit the side of the car
Starting point is 00:37:36 and then be on the ceiling and they get up in the back seat upside down. I've seen that a ghost one. The best lead. He's sent that to me. And the thing is, you see him, because I think he fell asleep or he's drunk. He fell asleep. is you see him because he I think you fell asleep and you see him wake up and not my reaction if I woke up driving would probably be to put both hands on the way on trying correct he had one arm over the seat and he wakes up and he keeps going like he's like my name my
Starting point is 00:38:00 body is reaction my current favorite is the dash cam where the guy's driving then he stops for pedestrian in the pedestrian kind of throws himself on the hood to make it look like you got hit by the car I got seen now What was the one where the dude? We know why they all have dashboard hands I guess the cop was emptying the guys pockets on the hood and then the dude ate some evidence. Oh, yeah That's awesome. He's slightly that guy is dedicated. I mean Did she did not let the situation get him down?
Starting point is 00:38:27 He was like, okay, I've got a deal with this. This is my moment. So what I need, I need to catch up on all these things. He's like, they got to want to hurt the car, of the cop car. So he's facing the dash cam. And emptying his pockets in front of him. And they like got him leaned over.
Starting point is 00:38:40 And one of these, and pull out is like, I'll fall a hairwind or something. A hold up note. Oh hold up. And he sees the piece of paper, it's right right in front of him and so he's just sitting there And he just casually there and eats the whole Judged to be like okay, you get you can get out of jail I can just imagine him looking down just thinking well that's incriminating
Starting point is 00:39:02 That testimony I was great about being frapples. I'm your honor. I want to get that testimony. I was very, I was having wrappers. I'm going to run. Your runner, I was very hungry. Yeah. I'm not eating. It's like like seamick. I needed to get some food. That was my special sugar.
Starting point is 00:39:12 So I'm going to show Joel this video from the guy crashing. The gab was talking about. We'll put him linked up. All right. I love this so much. Well, already this guy looks awesome. This guy's made the comedy. This is a guy who falls asleep and rolls the car.
Starting point is 00:39:27 Yep. Man, I just couldn't imagine what it would be like to wake up and be in a crash while you're waking up. I've never told you about the stupid thing I did when I was really tired and driving to Houston one time. I was driving to Houston. I used to own this old 1985 Azuzu pickup truck, like one of those tiny shitty trucks. And I remember it. It was a manual transmission. So I was driving with a friend of mine to go down to Houston to visit Frank. And I was really tired. I slept the night before. My friend didn't know how to drive a manual transmission. So I had to drive So we're on 71 like out in the middle of nowhere past Smithville and
Starting point is 00:40:09 I'm really tired. I tell my friend hey if I close my I'm driving like if I close my Can you hold the steering wheel and drive us and he's like yeah sure, okay? So like I put my head down and I'm gonna doze off with my feet on the pedal still and So I put my head down and I'm gonna doze off with my feet on the pedal still. And then he was, what the hell is going on? Yeah, no problem. And then just like, because I was nervous, I kind of opened my eyes and looked up and looked over at him and he had fallen asleep. And I was like, what the fuck are you doing?
Starting point is 00:40:38 So I woke up to like, my foot on the gas just going fucking down the highway. God, you're like, kind of a little express. Yeah, but he's, supposedly be when I should have died. Whenever you like, you might be dead. Okay, maybe you are dead. But supposedly whenever you sort of nod off and just suddenly wake yourself up, you've been asleep for at least six seconds,
Starting point is 00:40:56 even if it feels like you just shut your eyes. Really? That's pretty scary, right? Six seconds of driving. I've done the drive from LA to Dallas, probably about ten times. How long is that? Fifty times? Well, I've done it in 19 hours, which is, I think pretty much Is that you in your car? I've done it in your car. I've done it in your car. I've done it everywhere from 19 hours to 27 hours. You know, so there's some great, you know, flexibility in there, but yeah, it's like you've definitely had his moments.
Starting point is 00:41:17 You know where you're just, I am so tired and comfortable right now. Is there anywhere to stop? You have the conversation in yourself where it's like, yeah, I'm just gonna yourself where it's like yeah, I'm just gonna close one eye. I was I'm just gonna close one. I'm gonna put my camera in my brain. I'm gonna put my camera in my brain. I'm gonna put my camera in my brain. It's just like you get caught up and have comfortable with your car. I feel like if I was sleepy, like let's say like later tonight in the midnight or whatever, right? If I was tired, if I was like I'm gonna go to sleep and I went to my car and I sat like just parked in my driveway.
Starting point is 00:41:44 If I sat in my car and tried to sleep, I don't think I could fall asleep just sitting in my car Yeah, I can fall asleep a lot of places But I feel like sitting up like that is just weird But unless you're in an airplane, it's I can't not it's not possible for me to sleep Did you sleep at all on the trip to and from Australia this time? Joel that is baffling. How is that possible? Very bad. Yeah, you do just watch like nine movies I Fidget a lot a lot of fidgeting That is baffling. How is that possible? Very bad, yeah. What do you do? Just watch like nine movies. I fidget a lot.
Starting point is 00:42:07 There's a lot of fidgeting basically. You're fidgeting right now. We're not flying it. And it's basically just like it becomes a conversation where it's like if I get up and I get a bug and a guy is sitting next to me. No, if I was awake for an entire Australian flight, it's awful.
Starting point is 00:42:20 I would have to kill at least one person. You know what I did? Just to make it by. As I watched the walking dead Okay all the way to Australia. I watched it. I watched the whole series and when I got there Yeah, I was sitting at the table and this little kid walks up to the table and he's like hey, I'm a huge fan of you guys And it was the kid from walking dead. It was Carl. It was Carl Wow, and I was like oh my god
Starting point is 00:42:43 It was Carl it was called wow and I was like oh my god I Would grab him by the part of his shirt and go get in the fucking He was awesome. He's like a big fan. I gave him a zombie shirt. I'm playing shirt I'm at the Harry Potter twins also It's a long story. She was like, I'm a head-climidian now. She's like, see? I'm a huge fan of the Harry Potter twins. Tee-hee, will you please give them this note in the green room?
Starting point is 00:43:14 And I'm like, no, I'm not going to give them the note. I'm not going to give them the note. I'm not going to give them the note. And it's like, I'm not, all right, let me sit the note. No, you can't read the note. You can't read the note. I'm like, I'm not going to give them the note. Can I go read the note. No, you can't read the note. You can't read the note I'm like I'm not gonna give you the note. Can I go read the note? No, you can't read the note and basically it was like a note about a band You read the notes I read the note You're repeating in front of me He has a boyfriend. She can't be passing TV notes to them who is very popular for him
Starting point is 00:43:41 She's who he talked about she absolutely can that's totally fine. No, she hates me for it What is it?. Who we talk about? She absolutely can. That's totally fine. No, she hates me for it. But who is this? Who we talk about? Yeah. Oh. Yeah, we got a cat. We should beat the name.
Starting point is 00:43:53 No. Who wins it? No. She doesn't mind. It was a totally different thing. She doesn't mind. You can't read it, but millions of people can listen. And I also met a big comedian who I don't remember who he is at all
Starting point is 00:44:07 Big fat or a big famous big famous comedian do who he is what's his name? But he met you know who met he met Ivan Stravinsky I met a famous guy who met a famous person. Oh my god. Oh I think you're still believeable you're still burning person oh my god You're still burning I better guy I don't know who is what's his name? We know his name that we can be We can grab I knew we could figure out We know someone's name God that vein doesn't person
Starting point is 00:45:03 That was pretty cute You totally You met a comedian and fast. I'm so drunk. You made a comedian. And yeah, I forgot. Okay. But it was funny. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:45:32 I'm not allowed to be able. So when we used to go down to those, like I've even been down to Australia and New Zealand for a while for one of those events, I feel like every time I would go down there, I was always staying in the same hotel with like dual state and what's your name? The the consort from Firefly. Oh yeah, no, absolutely. He is also the lead alien in V. Yeah, I talked to her. Oh, you did you? I talked to her a lot. So she's still down there. She's still down there. I don't know. Well, apparently she's from Brazil. I got a really drunk and I flailed at her. What? You flailed at her? You tried to hit her? I verbally flailed at her.
Starting point is 00:46:07 Oh, okay. I didn't physically flail at her. I verbally flailed at her. How do you verbally flail? Well, you walk up to her and you go, hey! Are you from Brazil? And she goes, yeah! And then I, so she flailed back.
Starting point is 00:46:21 No, actually she was very like poignant and dignified and poised and I was just a drunk guy Oh, her panel is after our panel And so she came back. I had I had like I offered her warm beer from my From a backpack what a gentleman would a gentleman and she was like what did you do for a living? And I'm like are you from Brazil? I was like, yeah, I'm from Brazil. She's so funny. She's so, the thing is they've done studies, right?
Starting point is 00:46:50 Where if you're around an attractive woman, your IQ drops. Yeah, that's true. Which is true? I, they did actually, it is said in boobs, but they have done studies. They did study the government. Joel, this is where I'm talking about a woman a How many beers have you had so far?
Starting point is 00:47:07 He's only a mystery. Hey Joel, how many pretty women are in the room right now? It is true though that no like really hot woman could be into guys because every guys like we we talked about this yeah with angry boobs who works at that place we talked about that she's not that hot she is she is joll you're just a good thing you can't miss the girl from Firefly okay she will like she's like a bunch in the fucking space who's a girl who worked in a she's the work at Rowan folk yeah so I go with Jeff I totally we talk I talk to her at the the re through yeah I was like hey you used to work at things yeah I think it was and it went very well.
Starting point is 00:47:45 She worked in a place where I was self-by-self-wise party. Did it go well? I went really well. I went like a smister. You were like, I just smister. You used to work at the whole thing. I was full, right? She was like, hold on, there's like four conversations over there.
Starting point is 00:47:55 You guys talk. What are you guys talking about? I have no idea. Aegroboots? I've never met this person. So how do you think this is a thing? How do you guys do is give women terrible names. How do you think this sounds funny? Joel goes up to Angry Boots.
Starting point is 00:48:09 And he says, hey, you used to look at Rowan Falk, right? And she was like, no, no, three years ago. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I am the first one to dump on my own self in a conversation with you. I mean, I really have that conversation Well, what are the very few is that how it turned out that conversation? Well, I just missed her because I was just I was just trying to engage Reconversation for you and Jeff I They're like hey, is that her is that her is that her is a little just good talk to her. Yeah, and so I said hey you used to work at this place
Starting point is 00:48:42 Well, she was happy to be a. You said, that's right. I did use to work at that place. Yes. That's awesome. We would just, and then I said, are you from Brazil? Yeah. I will say, I was pretty surprised how nice Jessica Nigri was.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Why? She was just, I don't know. She was just very welcoming and curious. Where did you meet her at Paxi? Paxi. It was great. She was there. She seemed very nice.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Yeah, we should bring her down for a 10 she would have she would have to be nice or she would just have to be that right yeah you got to talk to a lot of the old and you have to be a people person yeah totally I'm not me neither yeah why are we sitting in Australia if you're not a people person how many times have you been to Australia now that's just twice so you did the flight the first time and then you thought, yeah, I want to do that again. You know who I sat? Daniel Ruffer was James-
Starting point is 00:49:29 Edward James almost. Really? Who's that? I don't know. If he's a captain of Alstor, I'm going to go. Oh, yeah. That's an original- That is Edward James almost.
Starting point is 00:49:39 Edward James- That's what I've been in you said. That's it. You said something about Brazil. I said, are you from Brazil? You said it all is one syllable, which I thought would be pretty impressive. I think you called him a regime soul moce. I love the fact that they had a whole lineup of real celebrities. And I'm in the lineup and I'm the one guy who's just sort of galvantingly drunk.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Galvantingly drunk. So where's Marshall in all this? Where's he? Drunk Marshall He was around He was around He has a... he doesn't uh... he um... He uh...
Starting point is 00:50:17 So you mean Marshall that? Does it affect himself or what? Oh, that'll happen I had a whole thing but I can't get into it I'm just drunk I saw a video show up in the RT Life Submission folder of you giving some pretty in-depth investment advice to what looks like a fan.
Starting point is 00:50:33 Did that happen? Was that a thing? Probably, yeah. You saw obviously something that happened. I was in it. My thing was, my thing was, is that people would come up, you know, dressed cosplay or whatever is various characters. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:45 And based on whatever character they were, like if you were a video game fighting character, I would then send them to fight Marshall. Or if they were like a space alien, I would send them to like, like Marshall. Fight Marshall. Yeah, whatever was. If they were Koala, you'd send them to see on Marshall. That's exactly right. So that was my little game and I was going to play as like whatever they were cosplay.
Starting point is 00:51:03 I want them to send over like poke Marshall whatever and to the fans credit They did not do that. Which is good because you shouldn't do that, but I still try to bait them. Yeah Gavin and I are going to Australia. Yeah, when are you going? So we will be at supernova Excuse me. Supernova in Sydney June 15 through June 17th. Isn't that the one that you all just went to? You went to Melbourne and Gold Coast. Supernova is a Comic Con there, it's a travel's way. Oh, you're going to Perth?
Starting point is 00:51:32 And then we're going to Perth. Oh man. June 22nd to June 22nd. Perth is the West Coast. Wait the hill on the West Coast, right? It's like the only thing out there. It's the only thing on the inside of the Coast. In fact, we're so far out that they said you can't,
Starting point is 00:51:44 you should not fly from Perth back to the US Because it's so far that you should stop somewhere along the way. So Gavin. I might stop the Japan. Oh, man. Wait a minute. Isn't Japan further west? I don't believe it is. It's just Right, right now. This is a fun thing for Bernie what and Gavin is going yes I will go to Japan. Yeah, why is Gavin going he really wants to go he's already I really want to go to Japan. I'll tell you why Gavin is gonna go to Japan. Yeah, with Bernie Yeah, and he's all wide-eyed and but she tailed all that stuff And but after this experience you're gonna be like yeah fucking why is there an event?
Starting point is 00:52:23 You're going to do it. You know you're just going. No,, I'll be damned you're right. Perth is further west than Japan. Perth is almost under India. I don't know like how far north Japan is. I thought it was down there. You should go to India instead. You should go east. Go east. We could go to India. It was about even with a little bit between San Francisco and Los Angeles and the West Coast. We could stop off in India and you could get that head massage from that dude head Matt I would do that who puts you to sleep when you watch the video But I would find that you know it's there where he's like he's rubbing someone's head and he's like He's like pulling with energy down from the the ceiling do you know there are people who have traveled to India and found He's shot and yes other videos. Yes. I will
Starting point is 00:53:01 Like they've had videos and he's like full commitment every time he gets right in there He gets his fingers right in the head It's fastic energy before you down he's like putting it on you And then he like let's bring the head down and it's like you're relaxing to it You're gonna get a Climidio If you if you watched this video you would fall asleep on your plane that's what you should do really yeah Yeah, I wish I'd know about it early because he's done it you watched the video and it makes you fall asleep Mm-hmm. Yeah, I could I'd known about it early because he's done it. You watched the video and it makes you fall asleep. Yeah, I could use help falling asleep.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Do you really? What's wrong with money? I never, I have this problem. I've just done that as a problem. I can't fall asleep unless I'm trying to stay awake. That's why I like that. I told you I lost my tablet the other day. I need to be watching something.
Starting point is 00:53:40 So I just got to lug my laptop home now. I need to be watching something and trying to be attentive to it in order to fall asleep But you know if I just find you see a relationship You need a woman in your life. I was gonna have stories for you. I have to listen here She's gonna talk here. I need to bring her here to talk to me. She's gonna talk to you Can I take I can't tell you I will fly can I'm a share name? But yeah, yeah, absolutely I would fly hoody down here and put her up if you would do a podcast with hoody and we can ask her questions about
Starting point is 00:54:10 What it's like to be in a relationship with money on that would be with any fast maybe fast Yeah, it would be it would be I Always settle her around like you'll introduce her and then move her away very quickly So we can never like leave you a little bit of I. I don't know if she knows much about my life, money, because money, as I was talking to Gavin about going to Japan, this is going to be your Japan. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:33 Okay. You don't, this is not Japan. You don't want this. It seems fun and happy, but it's going to be, it's going to be bad for you. Don't listen to them. Don't trust them.
Starting point is 00:54:42 Okay. So you're on like regular human time right now. Yeah. I mean, I, well, I'm, I woke up at five. Yeah. Okay. Minute. Shortly after. Because usually I arrive and you're like already, you've been working with the like, I'm awake now. Yeah. Somehow. Yeah. I saw you at the Starbucks this morning and I was really concerned that my
Starting point is 00:54:58 time was fucked up. If I ran into money, like at the coffee shop, like something's fucked up. Is it night time? You're like, oh shit. It's because, you know, my day is like, you know, a day and a half. So it just like trickles over and now I'm on like a daytime week. Monty is usually quite somber and yesterday I went into the studio and I had like, he was so jolly. Oh yeah, like a really long conversation. You're like animated.
Starting point is 00:55:18 It was a mate I've never seen that before. It was inquisitive. I feel like having a gap in on the podcast might help me on the podcast because I'm not very good on the podcast We were talking about like what money your grandma podcast no no no I'm I'm not quick like we were talking about Our perceptions of time and yeah, you know, there was like I have responses to things you've talked about in the past on the podcast But I'm never on the podcast so I like for example one time you were you Bernie you are like what's the movie that got ruined the most by a trailer? And you are like you I forgot what you listed But I probably would have been mission impossible. No, the one that got ruined the most was Terminator 2
Starting point is 00:55:53 Oh, no, you're right. You're absolutely right because how much better would it have been if you didn't know Arnold Schwarzenegger? I knew a guy I knew the first 20 minutes of that movie and you don't know who the good guys I that's all these hints back and forth right the T1. Oh, so they said you're absolutely right You're absolutely right. I knew a guy went to the movie who purposely did not watch the trailers Yeah, and he I was saying next to him and when that moment of the reveal came he was like Back then you know ad campaign comes out, I'm like 10 years old, and like, and you know, Arnold's the big superstar. And you're like, as a 10 year old, like, oh yay, Arnold's, this is the one where he's a good guy this time. And it's like, it's like, put it well in front. And you see the team 1000 diving liquid through the chopper, slicing people up.
Starting point is 00:56:39 It's like, if none of that, like, that's why that's part of why the Matrix was so successful. It's because you didn't see any of it. You didn't know what the twist was. It's true. It's true. And it kills the reason why they present it as a twist when everybody knows. Yeah, so you watch the first 20 minutes of Terminator 2 without the context of knowing the bad guy.
Starting point is 00:56:56 It's like you've got to watch public consumption as part of the equation. And how you're going to present it before you present it. And it's absolutely true. Like so many little things. When T1000 steals the cops uniform, he punches them in the stomach but you hear a slicing noise you know and like you know you see the silver mannequin when he throws Arnold out the window for the first time in the trailer no this is all in the in the movie and as you're watching it these are all hints as to what the
Starting point is 00:57:18 fuck is going on but you already know and that's that's like the biggest problem it's true there's nothing lamer than a twist that you start coming a mile away yeah yeah yeah that's what I hate about the There's nothing lamer than a twist that you start coming a mile away. Yeah. Yeah. That's why I hate about the prestige. It ends on a big twist. Like the last shot of things, like a big twist, like in a big music. And you're like, yeah, we've known that for 20 minutes. You showed us this 20 minutes ago.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Yeah, I've never ever saw the Korean movie Old Boy, but it's kind of the same way there's a big twist at the end. Oh, yeah. I saw it immediately. And then they get to it and I'm like, this movie's stupid. But I'm the only person I know who's like, I didn't like the movie. He was like so telecratic I'm funny because you get that one group both controlling the product and the marketing of the product You could really manipulate all the audiences in a better way, you know
Starting point is 00:57:57 And it's just sort of like the marketing groups are up against it. Yeah, you know, it comes to the selling of the story It's like here's a director you see my set spinning all the time energy's like, oh, it's time, energy, it's trying to, but it doesn't matter because it's already ruined. Did you see the new Prometheus trailer? Yeah, it just came out this weekend. I think it's all this another one. Yeah, great. Can not, great trailer.
Starting point is 00:58:15 Can we stop the trailer thing where every trailer doesn't have music anymore? It's just like, I'm insane in it. No, no, I hate about trailers when they do the flickering effect. We just see like flashes I'm in a cut a trailer which is Gavin is in all those premieres that is the the weird siren at the end that was in the original alien trailer
Starting point is 00:58:37 I have to watch it you can see the cabin of the woods I yeah I actually saw the member that 24 hour film festival that was in that back in December. Yeah, it was there. It's one of those movies that everyone's just talked about too much. Now I don't want to say it. If you like most of the podcast, it's the one movie that we were not allowed to discuss. I couldn't tweet about it. We couldn't write about it. We couldn't podcast. Yeah, I purposely kept myself from any knowledge of it whatsoever. I only, someone said unicorn. Is that the one where the trailer, it's like there's a giant force field?
Starting point is 00:59:08 Okay, we're not gonna let that ruins a huge thing in the movie. Okay. That's another good example. But it's in the trailer, right now. They don't need that shot, another movie, after money, you said it. With the A-Don't trying to watch a trailer
Starting point is 00:59:18 for Kevin the Woods before you go see it. There's one trailer that we're gonna talk about this? It's on the public. Yeah, yeah, it's it's on a trailer. I see that's the thing, it's already ruined for me. I saw the trailer, I'm like this looks dumb. Well you know what, at the end of the day, it's a good movie, I enjoyed it. But this isn't like, you know, this isn't like, you know, it's not super important.
Starting point is 00:59:38 There's other movies. There's also new Dark Knight Rises trailer that's not that before. They don't need a trailer for the next Batman movie. They just need a date and the Batman logo. That's it. The last one was so huge. Just tell people, hey, remember that thing you like? There's another one.
Starting point is 00:59:52 Especially if you go, this is truly the end. They do need pictures of Anne Hathaway just to be a cat woman. And then trailer. We all agree on that. Is she cat woman or a genie? Oh, yeah, we all agree on that. I watch that movie. When did multiple trailers start happening? Yeah. Like when did new trailers come along
Starting point is 01:00:08 like every few months? And now the movie is people put teasers out early. Like they put teasers that tease the trailer that teases the movie. And then when you try and look it up online you have to watch another teaser for you. Or the problem is you try to look it up online. You're like is this the one I saw already? Or is this another one? No, this the one. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, 30 second trailer for the game which played before the 30 second. You think you're looking at the wrong video? You didn't really get the initial thing to happen. The reality slowly turns into an onion article. Pretty much. I mean, it really does.
Starting point is 01:00:51 It does. I mean, you're absolutely right, Joel. It really does. Yeah, it's probably the onioniest probably people from the future. Right? Right, you stop. There's a real newspaper. And they just like, it's probably just like,
Starting point is 01:01:01 we're trying to get some information, but they just laugh at it. Yeah. It's like we're trying to tell them what's gonna happen. But I was, I busted out the extended addition Lord of the Rings blue rays this weekend, because I was gonna show it to my kid. I said, you have to watch it. He said, I don't like medieval stuff,
Starting point is 01:01:16 because I was trying to play Skyrim too, and he's like, no, I don't like medieval stuff. Really, I don't like medieval stuff. So I said, okay, here, just watch this first movie, and he like watched like the first two minutes, and it was like, I just backed slowly over.. I got to be like big like dinner plates and yeah What was it fellowship? Yeah fellowship. Yeah, and he described he didn't know any of the names I was like I like when the old guy fought the old guy
Starting point is 01:01:35 That was a classic battle. He said so but yeah, but the weird thing about it was the blue ways I'm not kidding you dude. This is the extended edition blu-ray It probably was like a hundred and twenty bucks when I bought it when it first came out It's got like 40, it's got like 45 blue rays. I can't believe Lord the ring fellowship. It doesn't fit on one blue ray There's really no split it on blue ray. Yeah, that's our ages. It's a lot of discs Fucking thing had six trailers before it. It's like are you kidding me? There's there's something new that some blu-rays are doing Which I really hate like you know part of the blue rice back is blue ray players can be internet connected
Starting point is 01:02:09 So there's some blue rights when you put them in it downloads or it starts streaming a new trailer Terrible if it's Sony there's a lot of virus the bridesmaids blue ray does this I know for a Lately anytime you put it in like and when you put it in it tries to like spin it You know it tries to spin it's to different context where it's like yeah, I'm gonna talk over you Joel because I'm talking So like that this screen pops up and it's like customizing your trailer experience like bullshit You're not customizing my trailer experience. It's getting some new shit to show me. It's like certain video games where it's like you six thing Oh updates. It's like those are fucking updates. There's a fucking ads It's true guitar hero like guitar is one of the games the first games to do that where it's like those are fucking updates as a fucking ads it's true
Starting point is 01:02:45 guitar hero like guitar is one of the games first games to do that where it's like updating it's like oh the only thing is changed the game is just relating around ads of change I thought a lot of times they could stream those without having to do an update though I guess any ad in a video game is it's for some reason way more annoying than an ad I don't mind it if it gives the developers more money. Yeah, I agree with that. We just have another loading box.
Starting point is 01:03:10 That was one of the splintous cell games was sponsored by Airwaves. And the way they advertise that was like, in every cutscene, there'd be a blimp flying in the sky with Airwaves on it. That is too much. I'm looking at Sam Fisher. There's a blimp.
Starting point is 01:03:22 The Lord of the Rings blue ray extended edition is 15 discs for three months. How long is that from beginning to end? It's a lot of money. We're probably I would love that I What I'm seeing is God fucking damn it like I just got mission impossible for It's one disc and there's no audio commentary. It's pain in the ass. No special feature Well barely any special feature was it did you buy different versions? I don't, I don't, I don't, I looked and there's, I don't see a special edition anywhere. I see a lesson less as special feature, special effects become more common in movies that they just care less to explain.
Starting point is 01:03:54 Yeah, I also think that with some movies, they're so long. Like I know the original Avatar Blu-ray didn't have many special features because they had trouble fitting it all under one disc. They also released that very quick thing in there. Yeah, like, straight after it was, I think it was still in some theaters when they put that on. Yeah, I don't know. There isn't, there isn't, no, there's no commentary on the special edition avatar, but there's a buttload of special features on the second and third disc. They just have different discs for that. I thought audio commentary tracks just don't take up that much space.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Audio can take up, depending if it's a long audio file, it can take a long, a lot of space. I propose we have like five commentaries on season 10. No, it could be, you know, depending on your file format, you could have a couple of gigs of just audio. Right, I never use special features at all. That's why on ours, we don't have a lot of special features, we just have a lot of extra content on our reverse videos. I like getting like the behind the scenes look on how movies get made. I watch them all day. It's part of my learning process.
Starting point is 01:04:48 I like that for like huge blockbusters, like for something like Independence Day with all the model shots. Right, right. See, the thing is that because it's getting more common, it's less explained. People, like, the people producing special features feel like they don't need to explain it.
Starting point is 01:05:00 They assume that the audience understands how it's done. Yeah, yeah. But even then, I still like the process of making movies You know, so this blu-ray set released June 28th 2011 basically that's a year ago at this point. Yeah, you know or close to it It is still on Amazon's number three in movies and TVs for drama number three in fantasy and number seven in action Adventure Wow the box set wow and I was reading articles because we made the announcement about Elijah Wood being in the cast.
Starting point is 01:05:27 And they were talking about- Wait, wait, wait. Yeah. What? Spoiler. And of Red versus Blue. And in the articles they were talking about, 10 years ago, Red versus Blue started.
Starting point is 01:05:36 10 years ago, Elijah Wood was in, at that same time, was in Lord of the Rings. So they were coming out then. I think it was Fellowship came out in 2003, right? 03 was Return of the King. Was it Return of the King? Yeah, so it was. I won then. Yeah. Okay, so that puts it in perspective. That movie is this box that is number three in like three different categories on Amazon for best selling and the last movie came out 10 years ago. Wow. That's good longevity, dude. That is amazing. That's a good investment I only view it as being out that long ago No, I don't think it was 10 years ago. And the effects don't even look that dated either. I mean it's to me that all dated
Starting point is 01:06:15 I mean, but I'm just but it came right it came out the around the same time as Harry Potter and the effects and that first movie Just disgraceful. Harry Potter. Yeah, like when he's like sat on top of that troll, you look at shoving the one that is like, he looks ridiculous. This is the troll scene in fellowship, that was. The best part about Lord of the Rings is special features, they approached it from like every trick in the book.
Starting point is 01:06:36 Some part of it's practical, part of it's. It's like they had the most high-end CG technology at the time, but they also had things with being held together by rubber bands. The miniature they built for Minnes Tirith. In the sea. Turn to the King is crazy huge. It's like 20 feet tall.
Starting point is 01:06:54 Yeah. In one of the museums exhibit? Yeah. It's awesome. Yeah, that was incredible. That thing ever tours again. They did a whole wetta Lord of the Rings tour for this museum exhibit. I was
Starting point is 01:07:05 It's funny. You go to the visitor center for New Zealand Yeah, you go to Auckland New Zealand. You go to the visitor center half of the visitor center is Lord of the Ring stuff And like wetta scarves Yeah, the first time we were to economy 2001 was the first Lord of the Ring to be by the way 2001 So that would have been December 2000. We had the opportunity to work with Bay Rate, who was one of the guys on Lord of the Rings. Yeah, Bay was the guy who essentially modeled and animated Gollum's face. He talked about how they flew investors in early on in the process, and he could show them, oh, this is what I'm doing, and that's how that was part of making the sale of the movie,
Starting point is 01:07:44 which was fascinating to hear about That to me the digital stuff is amazing, but the old world like craftsman stuff Yeah, the other versions, oh yeah, and they're blacksmiths They have those guys who built chain mail for for you straight who lost their fingerprints right The way they built the chain mail armor instead of making chain mail because it would be too heavy to wear They basically had the system where they took a long plastic tube a pipe and then they just cut it into little links and the guys guys would cut that and then link them together cut it link together the smartest all plastic links but hand
Starting point is 01:08:15 crafted this this is for each link every armors yeah you have to take your friends out to guys did that for the however duration of the movie you're straight so they can commit any crime that they want. And then we'll be fully arbored. As long as that be OK, and they're not caught on camera. But I love some of the other stuff too. See, we tie everything into the movie podcast. Like, it's like sign fell.
Starting point is 01:08:34 In the two towers, you know, when all the Rohan stuff is going on, you know, I think they got just about every horse in New Zealand for some of those shots, right? And riders, some of them are like, so many riders as possible. A lot of the more just woman Where they had they redone that was sheep there were no problem There's a lot of sheep I will we should when always said and done a total of 12.5 million links had been fashioned out of
Starting point is 01:08:57 Seven miles of PVC pipe as a result of this TV's labor the two workers ended up rubbing the fingerprints off their thumbs and four fingers Rubbing them off. I can't imagine that like grinding down skin. But why wouldn't it regenerate? I know. It's like you might just game up after a while. Okay, we get it. You don't want these fingerprints. It's I've worked on the Lutheran. We need to wrap up here. Gus, Gus, Gus. What? So why are you rolling your eyes like that? One thing real quick. You got everything to say.
Starting point is 01:09:26 So this week Avengers coming out. Who's going to see Avengers? Oh, I'm talking about movies. I'll go. I'll go. So there's a crack. I never go to see movies, but I will go to see that. Well, if you never go to see movies, let me throw this at you.
Starting point is 01:09:35 The alimogues, they always do cool stuff for everything. They're doing an incredible Avengers marathon where they are showing every single Avengers movie and then showing the Wow, so you see Iron Man, Iron Man, so which Hulk was the second Hulk the one with that? Yeah, that's the one that they consider the Avengers at No Ed Norton. When is it like I think it's a Norton, yeah. When is that gonna be? Uh, Thursday.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Until Friday or? Hold on one second, I'll look up the actual That's a lot of uh, was it like five movies? I want to say it was like 700 minutes to hold on or called Captain America there's no black widow movie there's no
Starting point is 01:10:13 there need there needs to be black widow movie who's that dude with a bone arrow okay oh yeah man that they kind of lost a roll out he was in he was in Thor he was in Thor he was the guy he was the guy in the cherry picker. He had the three frames. So wait, there's a guy who can fly around the middle. There's a guy who can get huge and great. And there's a guy who has a technically... Yeah. And he's a master sass. Technically they spend more time on Goss in that movie than they did. That's like the biggest question when you have a team like that. You have such this imbalance and power, right? Yeah, right.
Starting point is 01:10:47 It's always the thing. It's like, oh, oh, we have to hand craft one special moment where this guy could shoot an arrow at something to justify this whole scene and justify his whole purpose and value. You don't do anything. He should just not do anything. That's a higher movie.
Starting point is 01:11:02 It'd just be like all the other superiors like, yeah, thanks. 771 minutes. Oh wow. Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, 2008. he should just he should just not do anything that's our movie just be like all the other superiors like yeah thanks seven hundred seventy one minutes oh wow iron man the incredible Hulk 2008 iron man two Thor captain america and then fine life is a bit worse that's almost thirteen hours i would do that just to see iron man again i've watched i've watched both the iron man like a hundred times yeah first iron man was out of the way is Edward not playing
Starting point is 01:11:23 Bruce banner again well i it was Eric Banner in the first place. What was the budget on Eric Banner? I mean, if they could get Banner? Well, Iron Man Tony Stark guy was his face. Robert Downey Jr. And I think he would have been the hardest one to get back. Remember, they would have been willing to put up with him. Iron Man 2, they were kind of like implying that like keeping like a safe zone is like maybe he won't be in the movie, maybe he will.
Starting point is 01:11:47 Yeah, yeah, if they had to use like, I think they even wrote it. I think in the trailer they have a line where it's like I thought you weren't going to join the team and he's like, whatever, you know. No, I think there was some concern whether or not Robert Dinington or Juni would join. Had he not had he not been in it? It would, I mean, for me, of all the movies, I was the only one that helped interest for me. Well, I'm on one. I like. Yeah, the whole Iron Man story, like for Captain America, who's of course, I've been care. The thing I liked about it was that it was real. Like, it was, it wasn't a super hero. It's just a rich guy in a suit. But then there's
Starting point is 01:12:16 all these other super heroes, so it's like, yeah, it's kind of to feel that. You can see the frustration and go, I guess you try to end this. I'm trying to end it. Why? Because we have a segment after this. Let's take a segment after this. I guarantee you that not going to be as interesting as us. You'd be surprised. We're going to be some people at Funimation about an upcoming project they have involving Mass Effect. Well, that's pretty cool. Every time we've had a guest, I just like that.
Starting point is 01:12:39 I mean, isn't it a bad mouse in the park? No, no. Well, we have the BioWare people. I don't play Mass Effect, so I just't know. No, no, no. Well, we have like the bio-aware people. I don't play Mass Effect, so I just like an LWD. Can we rebrand? Can we get the trademark for Fundamation? No. But it has fun and information in the two words.
Starting point is 01:12:56 When is the Elemo thing, Bernie? It is Thursday. It's at noon. And so that, I imagine. I don't know. I didn't check to see. Have you had any extreme coincidences happen to you No, you're still trying to talk about stuff. That's it. We're wrapping
Starting point is 01:13:12 Gavin I have a theory that we're dead because when he we're here hanging iron the same room We're coincidences have we've still fight a lot killed you guys We might be dead. Oh, this might be the flashback right before I could only be alive. I can only fucking help. Hope. And the bunch, he's like our guide because he keeps telling us, you've already talked to him. He slowly pointed to the project that we're doing. You do.
Starting point is 01:13:33 We have to. We have to. You know, I noticed it when I get super busy with a project or whatever. We're going to. Did you come? Oh, yes. Hey, everyone. We got some people joining us today here to talk about an upcoming project
Starting point is 01:13:48 that we're working on. It's Meegus and Adam sitting in. Hello from Rister Teeth. And we are being joined by Justin Rojas, who is the senior social media manager at Funimation and April Bennett, who is the supervising producer for an upcoming project that we're working on that's Mass Effect related related called Mass Effect Paragon Lost. You guys there? Yeah, I have no idea what's going on. I saw some trailer video earlier last week. Oh yeah, it was just some concept art. But what are you guys working on? So we are actually doing a video game related animated film,
Starting point is 01:14:29 about a 90 minute film, based off of a new character that they introduced in Mass Effect 3. And it's called Mass Effect Paragon Lost. And it's pretty much Vega, who's a new character you've seen in the game. It's his backstory. You're a little bit of this backstory in the actual video game, but now you're actually getting to visually see it. It's pretty much like an extension of the video game that you're getting to see it visually. So is this the story of everything that happened to him up until the point we see him at the
Starting point is 01:14:58 beginning of Mass Effect 3, like his career in the actual military? Yep, pretty much. He is one of those guys where he really looked up to shepherd all his life. And he wanted to be exactly like shepherd. And when he finally did get into the military, he finds out that it's not as easy as it looks. And no shit, we had to kill like tons of reapers and other crazy stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:21 Right, right, right. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, a lot of reapers, a lot of big decision making to be done. So. Well, that know that. I know that. I looked forward to it because I know when I started playing Mass Effect 3 and I first ran into James, I was like, you know, who is this guy? I felt like, like, like, he seemed like he had a, he had knowledge of Shepard, he knew what was going on and was talking to me almost very cavalierly and I had no idea who he was. When I was very first beginning and you can see it on some of my Mass Effect streams, when I first met him, I thought he was Jacob from Mass Effect 2. I was like, wow, you've changed, you've gotten really strong, what's going on?
Starting point is 01:16:02 And then like an hour or so in the game I was like, these are totally different characters. I'm confused. Where did that other guy go? Who are you? Well, I played the game in a sense. You've got this feeling that you know, Shepherds are a legend that's been going around and you know throughout one and two all these things have happened and everyone has heard stories. So seeing James Vega, you know, he's one of those guys who's in the military who has heard everything about this legend of Shepherd, and then actually is getting to work with him for a bit. So it's kind of cool, human element, I think, to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, that's the biggest thing is that the Mass Effect guys, we worked very closely with Casey Hudson and the whole Mass Effect team on this story, right? And that was one thing that, you know,
Starting point is 01:16:46 they wanted to show, especially with Vega, that, you know, it's not as easy as it looks to be in the military. And Vega, you know, he's, you get to see more personal side to him than just the big burly guy who beat you up in some cut scenes. I beat him up, yeah, for the rest of the scenes. I beat him up for the record. You beat him up.
Starting point is 01:17:07 I'm sure it goes both ways depending on the options that you choose. For the record, I beat Vega up. Okay, good. So the... Yes. I would you, honestly. So this project you're working on, is it like how long is it? Is it a feature length production,
Starting point is 01:17:26 or is it a series, or what's the scope of the work that's being done here? Yeah, it's actually a feature length film. It's going to be 90 minutes. We're very excited about it. We've been working on this gosh for almost two years now. So it's one of those things where it takes a while for, especially for animation, it takes an entire year to do animation. So we've been working on this before Mass Effect Free ever came out and learning more about Vega and how they created Vega. And actually what was really neat is what we kind of came up with for Vega is what you
Starting point is 01:17:59 actually see in the video game because we were working simultaneously with them. So we worked about six months on the script and we went into animation and we should be getting final animation here shortly and then we'll be doing all the little whistles and adding in all the sound effects and recording and all that fun stuff and should be releasing November 6th. That's great. So I mean since you've been working on it for so long, were you very privy to the story of Mass Effect 3 during the early stages when you were writing the script? Or was it very limited like just right about the script? Absolutely no. They were very very very very secretive, which in their right they should be.
Starting point is 01:18:44 They gave us what we needed to know for Vega, but that was it. So they wanted to keep everything pretty secretive, which is good. But you know, it would have been nice to get a little sneak peek. But I did get a little sneak peek here and there before some people, so that was kind of cool. But most of the time, they kept it very secretive. So who else are you guys working with on this project? It sounds like you're working pretty closely with BioWare. Like who's doing your animation or do you have any other partners working on this with you guys? Yeah, we do work very closely with BioWare. And then the animation studio is production IGP.
Starting point is 01:19:21 And we have a director, Takutuchi-san, which I actually just got back from Tokyo interviewing him about this film and what he liked about it and so on and so forth. So it was a lot of fun to get to meet with him and actually see the animation process. That's something that we're going to be putting as a DVD extra is you guys getting to actually see the production production IG studios and the animation process and then talking to the director as well. For people who are listening and may not know the production IG worked on, you know, the Ghost in the Shell stand-alone complex and they also did the animated segment during Kill Bill volume one. That's all I can think about the top of my head but yeah. Very good. Those are like the two main ones that they're going forward for sure.
Starting point is 01:20:08 Yeah, very respected. That's awesome. I really look forward to it. I know, I saw you all put a teaser out on the BioWare site with ConceptArt last week. And the concept art looked great. I was hoping I could see a little more of the stuff in action, stuff actually moving, but I guess it's still a little early in the process. It's so low early, but don't worry, there will be something coming out here in the next couple of months that you guys will get to see some moving stuff. It's hard, you know, it's not like a typical live action with animation, you know, it's a long process.
Starting point is 01:20:36 So we can't just give little teasers, like most live action films can do because they already have it in live action. We're actually, we have production IG working very diligently trying to get the animation done and try to make it look as good as possible. So this is going to be also just so you know it will be a 2D 3D mix. So all the characters will be in 2D and most of the vehicles are 3D. And what's really cool is we were actually able to take the actual 3D asset from the video game and implement it into Into the movie. Hmm. Oh, that sounds awesome. Yeah. I bet that's got that's got a really cool
Starting point is 01:21:14 Style to it a really cool feel to it. I bet it's really I can't remember the name right now Anyway, I thought it was cool. So when you're working on a project like this, obviously, I guess you have to write the script first. What is the next step? Do you all then work on animation and then do audio? Or do you do audio first and lay it down
Starting point is 01:21:36 and then animate based on that? Or how does that work? Well, Funimation actually does it a little differently than most normal animation studios. Most normal animation studios will record the audio first and then they'll animate to that. But due to us working with an actual Japanese animation studio, we have them recorded in Japanese and then the animation will debit on the back end. That's what the animation is known for. It's such a great job with bringing in these Japanese titles and dubbing them to the
Starting point is 01:22:08 lip flap. So the next step after script is they'll do the recording, but then they start with storyboards. And we begin to see the storyboards because the thing with animation is you can't, it's not like live action where you can just film, film, film, film, film. You have to know what you're animating and that's it. Nothing is left on the cutting room for. So we look at storyboards and then they kind of work simultaneously pretty much as they are showing out storyboards, we're giving notes and then they're starting to animate and
Starting point is 01:22:42 then they're still showing out more and more storyboards. So it's kind of a scare step process. That's interesting. I never would have imagined that that's the way it would work. That's really cool. How difficult is it to work? Is there a big language barrier when you're trying to coordinate with partners who are open to their fans? Justin, here's all the stories. All the time. It's's definitely there can be a cultural difference, especially when we are in script writing phase sometimes. With this one it was great. Takahuchi-san was really very going home and excited about this project. So the dialogue we were able to keep quite a bit, but there are times where you know when we say what up bro, the job keys don't
Starting point is 01:23:26 know how to say what up bro, they don't even know what that means. They're like, why are you saying up bro, you know, that's right thing. So we have to do a lot of explanation, like no, no, no, no, no, no, don't worry. This is Western slang, you know, that sort of thing. But then also to a lot of changes go down in the storyboard phase Because then they start realizing oh wow they've been off a little more than they can chew and so they're having to kind of cut down A little bit and get it to a good point so a lot of what my job is is I always tell people I'm a peacekeeper because I'm not only In the middle person between Japan, but I also deal with Bioware too. So I have to bring all forms of notes and things like that
Starting point is 01:24:14 together and make it one kuhi said you didn't. But what's really cool about this project is we are not just releasing this in the States. This is going to be a worldwide release. So, you know, we have to make it appeal to work worldwide. But it's definitely with canon. There might be some more explanations than what, you know, most gamers would want to see only because, you know, they're like, we already know that. And it's like, well, we're having to appeal to people who don't necessarily already know what a praetorian is, and that sort of thing.
Starting point is 01:24:44 Yeah, you beat me to my next question. I was going to ask with the reason to be a global release or not. So like how much, how much, how much video games do you guys typically play? Would you say you're pretty big gamers or are you more focused on the animation side of things? I said for myself, I actually sit and watch an watch nephews play because there's no way I can freaking do those little toggle switches. I just want up down left right that's what I want. So I watch my whole family, my brothers, and my nephews are big gamers.
Starting point is 01:25:17 So what I do they love it. They love my job because I'll give them a video game and say play this and I sit and watch it. But I know real house plays a lot. Yeah, I did chunk of us here at the Furniture Office. I mean, we're an anime company, so it is a company full of gamers and nerds. It's a very geeky company. I mean, yeah, I play a mic a chair of video games, definitely went through the massive big games.
Starting point is 01:25:39 When we worked on Dragon Age, made sure to play the Dragon Age games too, but I've played whatever Halo and it's technically research for us. Yeah, it's research. PRPGs, whatever. When I was when anime is not taking up all my time, definitely put some bug in games. Yeah, I feel like there's a lot of cross over there and I think that might surprise people who don't work in the industry. Like when Rooster Keith first got it start going to events and meeting with people who
Starting point is 01:26:09 were fans of our work, we would go to anime conventions, because there really weren't many big consumer video game shows. And people would always say, you know, why are you going to an anime convention? I said, well, people who are fans of our stuff, the people who are fans of video games, are also fans of anime, and that's where you'll find them. Yeah, that's pretty much why Funimation decided to dive into the original entertainment realm is you know we have the anime fans and then the video games have a built-in fan base and there's a lot of anime fans that are big gamers and then there's a lot of anime fans that aren't necessarily big
Starting point is 01:26:40 gamers and vice versa saying for the video video gamers or not. They might not be exactly anime fans. So what we're trying to do is really broaden this art form to all forms of geeks, geek entertainment. Yeah, geek culture. Geek culture exactly. Yeah, it's it's funny how you said that you'll watch your brothers or your nephew play, uh, play games. You know, we have, we have a team of animators who work on Red vs Blue and they work really long hours and they don't necessarily get to play as many games as they want. So sometimes I'll catch them streaming other people playing video games or watching videos on YouTube like recaps of games. Yeah, I do a lot of that because Japan is 14 hours ahead of us. a lot of times in the evening time I'm
Starting point is 01:27:27 having to do phone calls with them and so it's difficult for me to just get to sit down and play so I do do a lot of streaming of the game play and things like that which so I love people who actually do that it's kind of nice and good research for me. Yeah it's a good way to get caught up. I swear about 50% of the time every time I go back to the studio, Monty has Street Fighter or some video game streaming on one of his like 19 Monters now. Yeah. One of our animators has a battle station where I think he has six monitors hooked up to one computer.
Starting point is 01:28:00 Oh my word. It might be higher than that now. He's normally watching a movie, watching a game, watching anime, and watching, working, yeah. It's crazy. So, with you working with Japan, have you had to go over to Japan at all during this project? Well, I actually just got my very first trip. I've been with the company for about two years now, and so I got my very first trip for Dragon Age. Because we actually have a co-producer out there, we rely heavily on them to be for Mass Effect and go check out the studios and I also decided to make it a trip to do DVD extras as well for the Mass Effect fans because I really got really excited over here when they started to see that teaser trailer and I'm really
Starting point is 01:28:56 excited to see the process. So that was something that we wanted to do for the fans, let people see the animation process. I kind of wanted to see it myself. It's crazy how they work over there. They don't require high school diplomas, and a lot of times they will hire people fresh out of middle school. As they are good drawers, they will let them be animators.
Starting point is 01:29:21 It's crazy. And it's like they put a lot of people and one gigantic room. It's very messy. And it's just, it's really interesting. Well, I bet it's people who are really passionate about what they do if they, if they've looked them that young and if they're, if they're that talented. Yeah, they definitely, they sleep at their desk. I saw a guy passed out at one desk one time. I saw a guy who had his sleeping bag sitting right there, so they are very passionate. I mean, in Japan animation is such a big deal.
Starting point is 01:29:54 I mean, it is here too in the US, you know, but it's like what people think of is like Disney, Pixar or something like that, but in Japan. I mean, that is like one of their largest, yeah, forms of media there. So where in Japan it was the studio that you visited? It was in Tokyo I can't tell I can't even remember what to do with it. I would do so many places and I don't really speak Japanese but I know like I was I think he was close to Shinjuku. So it was kind of a little bit a little bit further out a little bit on the outskirts a
Starting point is 01:30:33 little bit of Tokyo because when I was walking around with our co-producers they were telling me that the the studio was in a more residential area. Okay. I went to Japan once, like five or six, no probably six or seven years ago, and I had a blast out there. It was such a different place. It was an adventure, that's for sure,
Starting point is 01:30:57 and I went by myself, so that was even more interesting. Yeah, it's funny, when I went by myself too, and I'm not knowing the language, not knowing anybody there And you know some of the guys here don't understand how I could do that just go to a foreign country Why don't know anything and just you know lose yourself for a while right? But yeah, it's it's it's a fascinating place to visit it is I completely agree So how you said you've been with April you said you've been with Funimation for two years now
Starting point is 01:31:24 Justin how long have you been there? Uh, I've been here for once. Three. Going to get right about three. You're right, but why? Nice. How did you all get your start like working, you know, in this industry? I'll just say.
Starting point is 01:31:36 Well, okay, well, I've always been an anime fan, you know, drawing up a Dragon Ball Z in Sailor Moon, and Sailor Moon's same-right's cast and all that, John. I did conventions for a little bit, just going through college and all that. So once I got out of college, I'm born and raised in Dallas, which is where, Fundamentation's always been located in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.
Starting point is 01:31:58 So I was always kind of aware, seeing the logo at the end of the Dragon Ball Z episodes, just school for business, and was getting jobs. And just honestly, it's the most boring story really in the world, like, oh, there's a job opening at flanuation in a relevant field that I have experience in. I guess I'll just apply. So I applied came in for an interview, and I mean, given the fact that, you know, I had the anime experience also, and the relevant marketing experience, it was just a fit. And surprisingly, with all people who have hired, that's not always so easy to find. Not necessarily always required
Starting point is 01:32:38 either. We've got a lot of people here who aren't necessarily like huge anime fans, but for certain positions, you need to be more of a fan than others. So I started off here as a brand manager, assistant brand manager, and then I kind of transitioned into the social media realm. So it's a bit of a cool place to be, and it's constantly changing. This company is so, so different than it was when I first started. Heck it's different than it was last year. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:07 So my background is a little different. First shot of college, I actually started working in reality TV. Oh, really? Yeah, I was born and raised out here in Richardson, North Dallas. So I started off working on a couple of court television shows. Then I got the amazing opportunity to work with Robert Rodriguez out there in Austin. I was his second assistant on the Sincity and the Adventure Shark Boy and Robert Girl.
Starting point is 01:33:36 And during the time that I was there, a lot of the people that I worked with influenced me to go out to Los Angeles. So I moved out to Los Angeles after that and lived out there for about five years. And really I did a lot more reality shows. There are a lot of my connections were out there. So I did a really a whole, I produced a whole bunch of reality shows while I was out there. And Miss The Family, so I decided to move back and saw that there was an opportunity here at Funimation. I actually had not really, I'd heard a little bit about Funimation. I'd always see their name a little bit, but this was so different and it was something because we were doing original stuff with my skills of just being
Starting point is 01:34:16 a producer in general, we're able to cross over because I mean, no matter its animation or live action or anything like that, it is pretty much the same same type of job So right so yes, I was able to use my skills and now we have we have these two films Dragon Age of Mass effects But we have three other films that are in the pipeline. Have you announced them? No, we haven't Okay, so but we will soon hopefully so are these I, like a new, well, you probably can't talk about it. Okay. So, I guess, you said you also have the Dragon Age feature that you worked on as well. Do you have any other video game related things that you've worked on in the past with
Starting point is 01:35:03 Funimation? No, actually Dragon Age is our very first film for the original entertainment department. So we're very excited about that. That comes out at the end of May, May 29th. And the mass effect will be our second film. When does it sound like I'm going to ask, but I didn't really, I didn't want to sound stupid. In the case that it already came out, I was like, oh man, I- May 29th, yeah. I didn't really, I didn't want to sound stupid. In the case that it already came out, I was like, oh man, I made so much of that. Yeah, so we're still doing a lot of push for that. Yeah, we're actually doing, we just did our premier in Dallas. We've got a limited theatrical,
Starting point is 01:35:37 or limited screenings actually on May 24th. And it's San Francisco, Los Angeles, Edmonton, New York. Yeah, that's a one-day show-in. So that's literally like the only time you're going to have a chance to see the theaters. So if you guys are in those areas, you should definitely go. Nice. We'll be sure to include a link to any listing you have with more information about that Yeah, Adam and I were also both big dragon age players as well. Yes. I yeah, so I think we're yes I probably played more dragon age than I did mass effect really I think I played more Mass Effect in the game. Well if you saw Cassandra this dragon age
Starting point is 01:36:21 We have it called dragon age Donna the Seeker. It's based on Cassandra's backstory. Awesome. From Dragon Age 2, yeah. She's pretty hot. She kicks ass and she's hot. Yeah, I think Adam and I are probably your target audience seeing both of them. The movie has just been off the right. Yes, yes. Do you have a release date for the Mass Effect PCN? Yeah, it's November 6th. Great. Yeah, it's going to be direct to DVD. We're still currently trying to plan if we raise, yes, I...
Starting point is 01:37:00 And we're still trying to figure out if we're going to do some sort of theatrical thing, or we'll have it one night only sort of thing, but we'll probably have more information when it gets closer. Hopefully for that one you can add an Austin date. Yes, we can check it out as well. November 6th, that's going to be a busy date. Yes, it will be. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:37:21 It's a boating and everything. That's a, yeah, presidential election. So yeah, you'll be, you'll be, you'll definitely, people will definitely be looking for entertainment after, after casting their ballot. I bet. It's a sort of escape. Yeah. Yeah, escape from real life with, and follow the, the, the trials of James Vega.
Starting point is 01:37:41 Right. So, this, the story that you're going to be telling in it's called Paragon Lost, is that correct? Uh-huh. Does the story you're telling in Paragon Lost cover his James Vega's whole life or is it just his military career? It's just his military career. It's kind of on his first mission out in the military. And this is before he joined in seven whole things. So it's right fresh Into the military is you get to see all of his choices and how he became the leader that he is today What kind of makes him a little broody
Starting point is 01:38:16 In the third one do we get to see him get his tattoo? Can you sport it? Can you say that? No, I know I wish we could have but yeah No, he already has the text through could have, but yeah, no, he already has the text, doing our in our thing as well. That's hoping we could see the reason behind that or the question. Yeah, I don't know. You know, I never learned the reasoning behind that. I think I probably did at one point now that I don't remember. Oh, okay. Well, that's too bad. We'll have to make do with already having his tattoo.
Starting point is 01:38:47 Yeah. And I forget, in Mass Effect 3, does he tell, I'm looking at Adam here, does he tell, does James tell a story about a mission gone bad and losing the people he was commanding? Yes. He, there's a moment where you know when talking to me actually I'm pretty sure it's where you get to unlock his special ability And he's he's talking about how you know he had a mission go wrong and how do you how do you recover from from being in command and and essentially having to make the strategically right choice,
Starting point is 01:39:31 but in some viewpoints the morally wrong choice. Right. You end up having to sacrifice the lives of your men to gain the military advantage or whatever. And win the war, but most definitely lose a lot of comrades. And there's definitely a moment where there's a long... I know you guys can't spoil anything, but I'm hoping we... Like I remember that moment standing out in the game, and I hope we can see a little more of that, or things of that ilk.
Starting point is 01:40:01 Can't remember if it's before after then you get to fight him. I think it's before you fight him. I think yeah I think they get to fight each other. You do get to see that visually in our movie. So you will get to see that stripe and that sort of thing. So I think I think you guys will be hearing that is very exciting to hear that because that's our movie right there. Oh great, that was definitely I feel spoiler alert. Oh great, we know how it ends. I feel like... Well, there's still a lot to be learned, like I mean it's not the whole thing but you'll see. Yeah, we, we, we talk about internally, it's kind of like Titanic. You know the ship is going to sing. Yeah. But how and why? What's going on during the time? Yeah, I feel like that was one of those probably the interaction with James that stuck out with me the most
Starting point is 01:40:54 So I'm glad to hear that you know, it'll be included and that that is the movie and as they will mention again I mean that was from our movie added into the game so They will mention again, I mean, that was from our movie added into the game. So really, I did look at the things you see in video game movies these days. It's completely separate from the game itself or it's a complete side story that might not ever make its way into the rest of the storyline. But with Dragon Age and Mass Effect, both will have elements that have crossed over in some form of fashion. Yeah. So just a look and end with visuals. In visuals.
Starting point is 01:41:30 So were those story hooks left open intentionally on buyer side or was the idea developed on your side and then inserted into the game? Like which came first to chicken or the egg? Well, it's kind of difficult to say because we developed it together. I gotcha. So yeah, it's kind of difficult to say because we developed it together. I gotcha. So yeah, it's kind of difficult to say that.
Starting point is 01:41:47 Well, that's still that's good. It's good to hear that, you know, it's that kind of hand-to-hand collaboration because I feel like that makes, you know, the end product more genuine, more, more compelling. That's one thing about both Bioware teams maybe Dragon Age or Mass Effect. Both teams are very much all about working as a team and coming up with these concepts as a team. So that's pretty much how we try to mimic working within as well. It's just, you know, making sure that we're sticking to canon. We don't really want to piss off any fans or anything like that. And I mean, honestly, this is an extension. It's pretty much, I like to tell people it's pretty much just a long extended cutscene for you
Starting point is 01:42:27 to free to watch. So. That's very interesting, I did. One of my favorite things about playing the Mass Effect franchise has been, you know, moments where they tie things together from the first game or from other games. And even to see how
Starting point is 01:42:45 they're taking that cross media. You know, they're going to connect two things, one in an anime form and then it will translate into the video game. So if you've watched the animation and then you go and play the video games, there's going to be a moment where you're like, oh my gosh, that's James Vega. You know, like I've seen that, you know, that's going to be really enjoyable for both, you know, people who have played the game first, they're going to be able to see something that they can relate to immediately.
Starting point is 01:43:15 And then maybe people who haven't played the game yet will, you know, if they watch the animation and then, and then play the game, they'll have a really rewarding first experience with him right um probably much better than some of our first experiences yeah i think i would have been confused i would have enjoyed seeing an animated piece like this explaining his story before running into him in that hallway at the beginning of my specific time yeah he he seems very casual and nonchalant when when he meets you for the first time. Like, we're going to meet Shepard for the first time.
Starting point is 01:43:47 He's like, Sup, bro. And he's like, who are you? Why are you so mussely? Yeah, we talked about this in a previous podcast. And I think we were just saying, you know, where were you the last two games? I already saved the Galaxy 20s. So it'll be good to see where he was and what he was doing. It's me.
Starting point is 01:44:04 Um, I know it's not well Another thing I got I got sidetracked myself and it thought the thing that would be cool And you know, maybe it's a it's kind of pie in the sky kind of stuff is if you could make Paragon and Rennady choices while watching the animated piece Didn't that would be cool Yeah cool. Yeah. Yeah. We can have a budget for that. It makes me think of like the old Dragon Blair or Space Ace games from the early in the 80s. Now I do have a question and if you guys can't talk about it, that's cool. I presume this or this story will be playing at the same time line of you know shepherd running around
Starting point is 01:44:51 the galaxy kicking some Reaper ass. Do you guys know if you do we get to hear about little bits and pieces about you know the great commander shepherd from his storyline or is it two different like how does that how are you guys handling that if you can talk about it? Actually, this storyline is when they supposedly Shepard was dead. At this point, we don't talk too much about Shepard. Vega does a forever-normity badge, he wears, and that sort of thing. And he talks about how he was such a great leader. But because this is kind of, I can't remember how many years back, but it's just enough back
Starting point is 01:45:37 to where it was right after Shepard had disappeared or had supposedly died. Well, that's a good time period to flesh out. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's in Mass Effect 2, you just get that gap when you're playing it. One of the cool things is, you can see people have different opinions on Shepard. With the depending on the choices that Shepard had to make at the end of aspect one. So it's interesting to see that you know different people in the in the movie can have different reflections on how the events went down because you know everyone has
Starting point is 01:46:14 kind of their limited information. No one knows everything that you knew when you played the game and so you kind of get to see it from their perspective. Right. Oh it's really really interesting. Oh, that's awesome. I haven't thought about that. Yeah. Yeah. I almost like when there are gaps in the story that you're able to go back and fill in with other projects like this. Yeah. Um, I know it's not as glamorous as Japan, but did you have the chance to travel up to Edmonton? Actually, yes, I did. Um, and I'm going to be going again here in probably June, but I went up to Edmonton for the Dragon H DVD extras and got to interview the Dragon H team. And actually, on the Dragon H DVD, this is the first time you've ever gotten to see it,
Starting point is 01:46:57 but I made them take us on a studio tour of Bioware. And so that's one of our DVD extras. It was really cool. It it's so funny though, like I remember myself and my camera guy were driving around and we were like, we don't feel like we're in another country. It feels like Texas. And I feel like Texas. So, if you want to see some of that actually on DragonHMovie.com, we did a teaser video of the trip to Bioware. So you can see a little bit of the studio. You'd see, you know, Mike Lade-Laby, Creative Director, and so the real quick, like, 30-second piece of the full length extra. Yeah, but it's really cool. I mean, everyone up there is extremely nice. Canadians are just so nice. Yeah. Well, what is sure to link that teaser? I could see why you might think
Starting point is 01:47:46 at similar text, don't they have a lot of oil up there and admitting the Alberta province? Yeah, and we, like, they had to prove to me that Alberta stake was the best and which was awesome. The one of the similarities there. I actually enjoyed it. And then I also had Kobe's stake in Tokyo, so I don't know, it's kind to be hard to compare all three of them. If it's kind of it. You've had a worldwide steak tour. Exactly. That's awesome. Well, I appreciate you guys taking the time to talk with us. I know you guys are pretty busy. I don't want to I don't want to hog your day talking. But I really appreciate you guys coming out. And I think we're all excited about this project and we'll be sure to link people and let them know what you're working on awesome Thank you so much. All right, thanks much guys
