Starting point is 00:00:00 It's time to put your pedal to the metal. From the twisted minds behind Deadpool and Zombieland, an executive producers, Will Arnett and Anthony Mackie comes the new Peacock original series, Twisted Metal, a high-oxane action comedy based on the classic video game series. Anthony Mackie stars as John Doe, a motormouth outsider who must deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. If he can survive the drive, also starring Stephanie Beatriz, Samoa Joe, Nev Campbell, Will Arnett, and Thomas Hayden Church.

That was Dylan 33x from the site with the theme song this week. We're like Dylan. I didn't test my headphones. Didn't like, didn't E3, didn't the Xbox keynote have an announcement about being my smoking crack?
Starting point is 00:02:02 That was yeah, for the on the Xbox itself, yeah. Yeah. They're improving. I guess like search. You can use the connect for voice search. That's cool. Yeah. They're also going to put internet explorer on the Xbox this year.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Did you see what website they used to demonstrate internet explorer on the Xbox? No. What did they use? Ascent Marten website. Oh, no, no, that was different. That was it. That was it. That was the website. That was something else. Oh, that was so bad
Starting point is 00:02:25 But so nothing wrong with that Apparently no one in America has heard of us to Martin nobody you know nobody recognized one of the street All the car that's ridiculous. I know why would they choose that because they're great Gavin was in my office. We were watching that stream and he like shot his hands up in victory started looking around Like some kind of acknowledgement. I have something I have something terrible to tell you Gavin. Okay. No one at Aston Martin cares about you. No, but it's just another kind of strange coincidence.
Starting point is 00:02:51 That's kind of the small ones of that. What are the chances of that? Like if they show a car company why? Why are you advertising Aston Martin's? I could give you. You went to Aston Martin gave him some money or something. I would think so. Dude.
Starting point is 00:03:04 But I mean why would Aston Martin not that's not a reaching out reaching out to the youth. I don't know what's the average age of a gamer nowadays. What's the average age of an S and Martin order like 80? That's why I want one now. You understand right? All you see is like silverhead old dudes in S. I want to know because they awesome and it's now they have a brand new one and they have a branding problem because it's like if you're thinking they're only 80 year old drivers, that's a branding problem. I want to ask you, are they still a British car company or have they been euthanized?
Starting point is 00:03:31 Have they been purchased by a car manufacturer in India or China yet? Yeah, it's a good question. It's only matter of time, probably. Right, like, is it, is it Range Rover owned by, or Land Rover now owned by Tata in, from India? Yeah, that's right. Tata. Yeah, Tata Motors, right? Okay. You're laughing now. Yeah, that's right. It's yeah, Tata Motors, right? Okay, you're laughing now. You're laughing,
Starting point is 00:03:47 they're probably only they're probably fucking on Esther Martin, too. No, yeah, who owns Jaguar? Don't they also own it? I thought for no, no, for used to own it. I think they got rid of it when they yeah, when the car times hit. I can't even keep track. That's why you should be afraid to buy one because like the engines engines inside of things change every like three years like you know, so you using our newest sponsor Bing.com I looked up Aston Martin and Xbox to see if I can find out what it is and I came out with there's an add download where you can get an Aston Martin
Starting point is 00:04:16 Garage is that the name of that? How you say that? Is it okay? Thanks to Gavin Gavin Gavin doesn't know enough about the car all he knows he wants one, he doesn't know anything about them. I just think of it a really funny first car. It'd be hilarious. Oh, it's right, you'd never have had a car. Yeah, that's a fucking ride. I'm laughing thinking about it. You're right, that is fucking hilarious.
Starting point is 00:04:33 It talks about the long enough will happen. Anyway, this one you can download for Forza. So you could get that in your first car. Here you go. It is... Okay, I'll get 160 points and you can have that car. It's all yours. Did they have any my box on there?
Starting point is 00:04:46 I think one of the things you do. We saw one of those ones, didn't we? I've seen, yeah, it's rare. I feel like I see like one of you. I saw him with you. I didn't know what it was until you told me about that. I would love to have gotten like a DB9, but where do you get it serviced and how does that go?
Starting point is 00:04:59 You just drive to England. It's easy. You know, there's a funny thing too because um you guys watch Mad Men at all Right now in Mad Men the ad agency is trying to get no spoiler here The ad agency is trying to get a campaign with Jaguar Which some people say is Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar or Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar Jaguar He said Jaguar Yeah, you should have to hear how he says I don't want to say it because it'll it'll take away from it
Starting point is 00:05:24 But you should be here the way Gavin says Pujo say Pujo Pujo See this right of your life. There's one of your ours, but um in the house The car companies in general is pronounced much differently. You can like Nissan and will you say? Hey son. Yeah, I say Nissan and you you also say like Hyundai or something What is that? Hyundai Why are you adding all the syllables? That's always spelled Is it Korean? That's something I'm like some... You have any sharp moves?
Starting point is 00:05:52 No, no! What do you say that I expect in the kick one of his shoes at me? Like you're right Oh man, I conchude Gavin the other week Right in the fucking throat I don't know the fact that you've never conchude me before And you're a conchude, anyone? Only conchuse me constantly, you never hit me in the face. You may write the throw. I was like
Starting point is 00:06:08 Disgusting sound Miles joined in as well miles does his first clung show me hits me right in the forehead You and I have never hit each other in the face We just terrible a everyone else is much better at clung shoot We've been here for five years. It's the first time beginners look So Gavin I were talking about Everyone else is much better at Kung-Shi, look. We've been waiting for five years. For the first time beginners look. So Gavin, I were talking about coincidence this last time. I think we're two podcasts ago,
Starting point is 00:06:29 where we're convinced that we're dead and living in some kind of... It's a shame. I'm upset that I'm dead, to be honest. I think I had a lot going for me. We had yet another one this week. Like Gavin, I hang out on average about one night a week, maybe? Yeah, yeah, one or two nights a week. So it's not like we're together all the time. So some of these little things, this Aston Martin thing, we've talked about as some are in the we it was weird
Starting point is 00:06:47 That it showed up on Xbox, but not really a coincidence. I got to it a hundred times about it. I know I know the But we were in New York for the men in black premier that we went to and we were just wandering around before we had to go to it And we were Santa's recorder and there was a girl who was very clearly a ballet dancer just by the way. She was dressed, she was walking around a tiptoe. She might as well have been for the way she looked and I said Gavin I said, you know it's one of the things that's cool about New York is like there's
Starting point is 00:07:17 everything here. Like Austin has a lot of arts, theater, music, what we do, film, whatever it is that we do. But we get whatever it gets, it's our category, whatever the what we do, film, whatever it is that we do. But we, whatever it gets, it's our category, whatever it is that we do. But there's no dance. Like I've never in my life met anyone in Austin who's a dancer, and I've been here for 16 years, and I've never met, well I'm a dancer but, you know, not my... Oh, that was beautiful. Easy, easy, easy. Yeah, and there's a non-tan comment that I threw out. Anyway, so we were at the Grakowl. Easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, easy, that and we got to talk about Jen Brown who plays Carolina in Red Varsal Blue and I mentioned her friend Kelly Bland who makes a show this online show
Starting point is 00:08:10 called Weatherman, Weatherman with Kelly Bland and she just kind of came up in conversation and I was talking about her and said have you ever met Kelly Bland before? No, I never have. Two minutes later she walks in the front door. She walks from Austin? Yeah Kelly Bland is from Austin. She walks in the front door of the bar. I'm like, you've got to be fucking kidding me. So we go over and join Kelly Blanc and her friend, Jennifer, right? Who is with her? And we're just talking with him.
Starting point is 00:08:34 We get to know Jennifer. We say, Jennifer, what do you do? She goes, I'm a dancer. And I was like, are you kidding me? She goes, yeah, I'm a choreographer. And I was like, I just told Gavin last time we were together that there's no choreographers and dancers in Austin at all she goes she goes yeah, I just moved here from New York It's like are you fucking
Starting point is 00:08:52 How is this possible? How is that possible? We mentioned Kelly Blan's name. She shows up and she shows up with a dancer from New York Do you think that Kelly van was somewhere in the area? And then you brought her up and she was like like like so constantly like you sent out that brainwaves like yeah must go to crackle. I must have given off a really weird first impression as well because you you were like amazed you introduced me and you were like Gavin this is Kelly and I was like it's going nice to me I was like what? What's here? The secret plot to drive you crazily is slowly underway. There's a there's a and the only reason I know this is because I used to walk by it all the time But there's actually a ballet school in downtown Austin over by the 360
Starting point is 00:09:29 Grotto I know because I would walk to eat lunch at that blue cafe in the base of the Precinct. I've actually seen anyone walk in or out of the building ever Because you're all right, but you're There's a there's a there's a gate you go in the time. It goes right to New York time wormhole time wormhole I just like the idea of Joel hanging out outside the ballet school. I Watch it for hours and no one is it slowly close the blinds on you One of the entire wall facing the street is all glass and they have like the pole there where they're all stretching and
Starting point is 00:10:03 But you never actually seen anyone. Yeah, but I get through the giant glass. It's normally pretty empty. Oh, there's maybe the whole thing you want in there. I see people in there. Now you're lying. Yeah. Pretty much though, if you change the posters on the wall in a ballet studio, you have a dojo, right?
Starting point is 00:10:18 I mean, it's pretty much the same exact thing. They said, you just put like, it's a universal thing. Instead of taking your shoes off, you have to put special shoes on. It's a little different set a barista coffee have Bruce Lee posters and then there you go Yeah, no that yeah, that works put it in you in the wall You know you know you're young symbol will call anything Me it's the young you know you gotta be a legitimate you know they Karate kid and karate kid two are available streaming on Netflix speaking of dough Joe's. So I rewatched those. This past weekend, oh my god. Why would you do that?
Starting point is 00:10:47 Because it was funny. The funny thing about Crotty Kid 2 is they don't have Elizabeth Shoe. They don't have Ralph Macho's mom. So they always talk, well, he breaks up with Elizabeth Shoe right at the beginning of the movie. And then they always talk about Ralph Macho's. Oh, did I just get what she is? No.
Starting point is 00:11:01 They refer to her off screen. That happens quite a bit. And they always refer to Ralph Macho's mom like she's just off camera or in the other room Hey, I was just talking to my mom. I walked in here What they couldn't afford to bring the back to mom. I don't know the first movie. I don't know Like I guess they didn't matter to them cuz they go to they go to Yeah, I like wasn't like that with the transformer. I didn't see the last transformer's movie But I think I get Megan Fox. So it's just like yeah some other girl Yeah, it's just like never mind now. It's was it the same role?
Starting point is 00:11:26 I mean it was different. I was different characters They make a soap opera where it's like now it's this person their first Megan Fox is cat to be in like a bitch or something Sorry, I think it didn't go well. Negotiations. I'm sad that my last girlfriend got run over by a transformer Anyway onto the next one. she transformed into a bitch. They recently did that same thing in another new movie. They did that in Avengers with Natalie Portman. They showed the door. They showed the picture? Yeah, they showed her a picture. That was the one thing that said bother Jack. It was like, come on, just put some video in there at least. Come on, make a... You know, it's Natalie Portman. I like it when they changed the casting of someone and then try and explain it
Starting point is 00:12:07 You may as well just not mention it like they did it in the matrix when that woman died the oracle They're a place to with someone. Oh, right. Then they wrote it in it's like a big thing It's just like she can change where she looks like or something And I have to be honest with you if they hadn't if they had not pointed it out would you have even noticed? Well, you're too busy being overwhelmed with the terribleness of the, I mean, was there anything that went right? And the last two scripts of that? The bully, it was pretty bad.
Starting point is 00:12:32 The bully bro was pretty cool. The bad term was sitting and watching that movie during that. Weird dance scene that they had in the second movie. It was like, all right, this is gonna lead up to something. This is gonna mean something. No, for me, it was gonna be a payoff, right? It was gonna be a just one one on and on. It was the cherry pie sequence of the murder of Inji and where it's like
Starting point is 00:12:46 What am I watching? Oh, yeah, it's always like kidding you that was that was one of the worst things I've ever seen on the screen. There's always that there's that moment in a movie where it's a terrible movie and you realize Oh, what is a terrible movie? Yeah, we can revot what you've refined down at that one moment Yeah, for me it's it's like a moment like that and I think it was the cherry pie scene It's like where I'm sitting there in the theater. And like, that happens. Then my first instinct is I look at my watch. It's like, how much of this movie's left?
Starting point is 00:13:11 Have you ever walked out of a movie? I have. I'm sure I have. I can't think of a movie I'd walked out of before. Have you? I walked out of a movie. Yeah. I walked out of the last 15 seconds of Conair
Starting point is 00:13:20 just to say that I did. I'm like, I have to leave before the credits just to say I walked out of this movie. It's that bad. It's a, in that state, and watch the, I mean, you see, in worse movies in Conair though to say that I did I'm like I have to leave before the credits just to say I walked out in this movie It's that bad. It's a in that state and watch the First movies in Conair though, right? At least you know what that's gonna be. Yeah, I watched walk out on actually I had a lot of people in it that I like it had Heather Graham and Robert Donney Jr In it but before he kind of had made his comeback it was a Movie called two girls and a guy and I think I had Natalie Woods daughter in it
Starting point is 00:13:44 I literally like walked back. I wanted my money back. Yeah, that was gonna be my follow up question. Have you ever gotten so upset in a movie that you've wanted your ticket refunded? I've never gotten to that. I don't know that. Me that never worked. They don't do it.
Starting point is 00:13:56 They just give you a rain check. They don't. They just give you like a pass for another movie? They give me like these red tickets to come back to that movie theater later. I said, he won't understand. I don't want my money going to this movie. How does that work, dude? Did the movie theaters, I'm not sure what that relationship is like, I guess a... It was fun movie from the studios or... I really don't know. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:14:17 I've heard... You know what? No other movie will ever start with two girls ever again, by the way. Oh, because of the infamous two girls won cup video. In the film. Two girls and a guy came out in 98 and it made $2 million. $2 million. And I'm about 20 bucks to that. I was on a date with David. Damn it.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Yeah, that's $2 million. That's pretty low. How much do you think karate kid made in its theatrical run? That's a good question. I'm gonna guess. It's a good question. I'm gonna guess 70 million. I'm really proud of myself.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Is that movie's two hours and 20 minutes? Yeah, that movie's long. It's the other thing I discovered when watching it. That movie's fucking long. Wow. And there's no cool... We've talked about, like, you've seen a movie as a kid. You like the movie, you go back, you see the movie.
Starting point is 00:14:57 It's terrible, right? Now, if there's a movie that you saw as a kid that was mediocre, that's gonna be... Nope, like a car wreck. I had to... I apologize. I looked up the new karate kid. Hold on, let me take a look at the original karate kid. Yeah, like Daniel doesn't realize he learns karate until there's like only 30 minutes in the movie left. Wow. This is like a lot of sequences like. Oh my god.
Starting point is 00:15:18 About this. I know Kung Fu. Like the actual turn to the matrix. The matrix and the karate kid in the same movie. The actual tournament and the matrix The matrix and the credit card in the same movie The actual tournament and the fighting is so quick in that movie. How much should I make? It's two hours and ten minutes the original and it came out in 1984 probably I mean you know karate kid I've never seen it you never seen it, but you know it's like one of those How much I know it's a big day. I have to know 91 million dollars Well, that's what's that what's that what's that per minute? $71 million. That's a lot.
Starting point is 00:15:42 What's that per minute? I need a bottle opener. All time domestic it's a... I got it, yeah, I got it. I got it. Jules Ring Corona again today, which we are not sponsored by. He brought the Corona on his own. It's still in the bag from the place you bought it.
Starting point is 00:15:54 I'm sorry, Mrs. Tequila. What is festival? We're not sorry. You missed it. That was a rough day off of that. I didn't get much done. Yeah, that's a fence always. And I can't afford to.
Starting point is 00:16:02 I don't know. Yeah, we're not. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. off of that. I didn't get much done Yeah, that's always that's and I can't afford to I Yeah, what next time we're doing those in the afternoon Like we call it quit for the day. Yeah, yeah, that's a good idea. Thank you. I dream Corona without a line How do you do that? It's definitely better with a line? Mm-hmm. It's definitely better with you You know, though, I always get made fun of when I when I asked for Corona
Starting point is 00:16:24 Who you hang out with? Who makes fun of you? Jeff. The bartenders? That make fun of you? Apparently it's just going to make fun of you no matter what you do. You probably think of that. I have.
Starting point is 00:16:37 I live with a guy. Yeah. How's that going? It's great. You know what I think about corona is that it's always I realize that getting the lime, I'm basically using an entire lime for one slice I've been why are these lines by the slice? Or is it a smaller line? I don't want to use a key lime But I feel like I'm wasting always half a line because I'm not gonna drink enough beer to go through an entire just
Starting point is 00:16:58 Drink more beer of slices Drink more beer. That's the easy solution. You're worried about wasting the lime when you waste every I I went around and filmed all of your coke Kind of this day. Nah, you had about three. Yeah, you've done that for a very long time. You're an expert And I know I understand that I've done it. You want to be coke in shots here. You should have shot Here's here's gonna be the end game here the ultimate goal now that we have the annex I can't wait till we find the trail of empty coke cans on the wave walking from here to the annex It's gonna be like on cars in the middle of the parking lot.
Starting point is 00:17:26 So Joe the can. It's over at the annex. Joe the can is back. I'm so excited. Fantastic, but now he has lots of places to hide and there's dangerous pointy. No, no, it meant in there. He's called many times. He's not gonna live long.
Starting point is 00:17:39 How often do you go into the rubs? What's that? How often do you go into the rubs? Have you even been over there? I don't think it's either. I go over there like once a day. Mainly to talk to Brandon, but... If I have a long render, like I'll render a let's play it,
Starting point is 00:17:51 it's just like, ooh, I'm gonna go talk to him. I'm gonna go talk to him. He's so awesome. I feel bad, you know, we're famous as a dog. No, he's doing great. He had that first day where he meowed a little bit and he was getting adjusted, but now he's like, in heaven. The first day he was hiding in the fizzard lift.
Starting point is 00:18:04 That kind of stuff. He's also pretty active on Twitter as well. We've just got it. The first day he was hiding in the scissor lift. That kind of sucked. He's also pretty active on Twitter as well. We've just got to... I don't even know who's running that flip. I have no idea. You can't even look, you couldn't design a more dangerous piece of equipment.
Starting point is 00:18:12 It's like interlocking pieces of metal. And electricity. And electricity, and electricity, and are basically uncompromising. It's like, that's gotta be the most dangerous. DC batteries. That's it, that's not as bad as it gets. He's gonna touch two terminals and explode.
Starting point is 00:18:24 I saw a guy on a set almost Hang himself. Yeah, from a Sensor live like you wrap the rope and it's like oh, good. Hope I remember oh god help the guys shouting at the top It's how the Sensor is that any rope wrap around him somehow around his neck and someone started lowering The Sensor lives on the other side of the controls and it's just like that was a good job It was right. Usually it's chains and stuff up in top of sets But I was once you know they when they're driving you can drive them when they're up and they will be And stuff it's like beep and they're loud as hell. I was on set once and I just heard like
Starting point is 00:18:54 Get out the way and then I think tremendous like clatter of pipes and chains. Yeah, the beeping stopped. Yeah He knocked himself out on one of the bars and just collapse Yeah, I know it's no one else like I go he knocked himself out on one of the bars of this collapse People like get a tune to hearing the beep. I just tune it out. Yeah It just doesn't matter. It should everything that's like that should have a different beep every time It's you a modulating yes It's okay. Thanks Einstein. We were going to the airport. Yes You could probably answer this question. You're just a good estimate estimate how many times a day do you think that cart hits people? That one oh my god. They are talking about that right they drive that cart through crowds and they just go
Starting point is 00:19:33 Excuse the cart. Excuse the cart. They don't give a shit. Car never has a differential of speed of a vehicle versus the traffic around it Be it been higher that they also has a beep which I tune out all the time Like I know when they all I hear them like excuse me. Car me card like oh yeah there's a beeping noise behind me isn't there I'm not sure that I get the whole card thing it's just sort of like injured people whatever I saw so there's a day I don't think you should be allowed to fly the last time I think we should just if you can't walk onto the plane you say yeah the last time I was I had a layover in Houston which is the last time I flew I I had a layover in Houston, which is the last time I flew,
Starting point is 00:20:06 I saw someone get denied entrance under the cart. Really, what happened? Don't know how do you get denied entrance under the cart. Like someone was like, oh, I need to go to get whatever, can you give me a ride? The person in the cart was like, are you disabled? He's like, no, I just want to get over there. No, sorry, sir, can't you be right?
Starting point is 00:20:19 And just drove off. Wow. So there's no one else on the cart. This person had nothing going on. The night this guy entrance onto the cart, and just drove off. Wow. So there's no one else on the cart. This person had nothing going on. The night this guy entrance onto the cart and just drove off. That was awful. All right, I feel like I should reveal why I don't drink. I don't drink all my Coke. My Coke Zero is what I drink. And why I don't. Oh, you're, you're probably not really the story. You're not understanding what I tell those stories. Your problem predates Coke Zero by the way, but okay.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Whatever. So, the reason was when I set something down, I can no longer identify it as my can, or my cup, it's written off in my mind. And also the other thing is too, when people bring goddamn cupcakes, I'm so grateful. When people get bringing cake or cupcakes or whatever, I want to try it and I will take a cupcake and I will take a bite of the cupcake and then I will throw it away Well, this is this thing about cupcakes. You don't need the whole cupcake I
Starting point is 00:21:09 I said the muffin just eat the top you're done or I just want to try it I like yeah your cupcakes great and then you throw away like you're wasting it's like what's more wasteful to toss it in the trash can Or to put it in my body this horrible thing and then have to burn it off I mean, it's like it's actually less wasteful for you to throw it away another sounds weird But am I less important than the trash can you know, I mean, it's like, it's actually less wasteful for you to throw it away. I know that sounds weird, but am I less important than the trash can? You know, I mean, it's like, I got to burn it through my body to that. That's like a cupcake stuff will be like a good biodegradable fuel for like the environment in the garbage bin will be better placed than like my midsection. Yeah. Yeah. Like, it's my purpose. My body is to convert your stuff into a
Starting point is 00:21:43 provides 0.007 energy to some plant that has been born yet, that's better. Yeah. So when I was in college one time, we were in South Padre Island and we had some kegs out at the beach. Where's that we were drinking? It's a beach. It's like a spring day. It's a spring break destination in Texas. A lot of people from all of the country come down because college students all have the same week off and they just head for the coast and we're one of the closest coasts for a lot of people from all of the country come down. Because college students all have the same week off, and they just head for the coast, and we're one of the closest coasts for a lot of people in the middle of the country. And corpus Christi, by the way,
Starting point is 00:22:09 if you can picture like a medical waste needle in the sand, that's corpus Christi. A medical waste needle. The golf coast of Texas is not the most attractive. If you can just picture like a par on the least attractive list. Medical needle pointing up out of the sand, that's. Most people would think of it as like a lake yeah with either oil tar wash up on sand or medical
Starting point is 00:22:30 needles like so you know so you're in South Pots Island and so I'm with my buddies and we're drinking and I'm drinking my cup of beer and you get pretty drunk and then I go back to my cup of beer on the tailgate and I pick it up and drink it It wasn't cup beer. Yeah, just spit cup Somebody had been chewing tobacco and spitting in it. Yeah, and it was somebody else's spit cup It wasn't I can't hang out with this guy Yeah, but I'm not sure it was just one person spit cup of my I hate to tell you this but I was drunk enough to wear I figured this out on a second swallow
Starting point is 00:23:18 Realizing your drinking stuff from after that I would like chain it to my wrist to make sure it never leaves My grasp so now you know after all these years why I leave That's disgusting Horse part the word but was there realized that I would oh no and I pulled it away Oh You have this alive a stream connecting you to the cup Gavin is in the corner in the fetal position now Might be throwing up when you have to string. It's like watching a scene out of alien and then For a while so it was like cold spits. I was like
Starting point is 00:24:10 Like bat with my Wouldn't break You just you just ask me why are my eyes watering a bit of the ghost of this thing of this story of just like the horror of I Even That's awful I just wouldn't hang out with people who do Yeah Yeah, I'm on with you. It's a thing, a spit.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Yeah, when you're chewing tobacco, you've got to have a place to spit it. Why don't you go down the ground? Well, you could put in your surrounded by... You have to get the ice. It's better to have it in a central ice. When you're chewing, the beer won't let anyone's walking and drink out of it. You're on the beach, everyone's walking around in bare feet. Yeah, people stepping in your...
Starting point is 00:25:02 Oh, my spirit. You think you can see it in a cup and know not to drink it. Not Bernie Burns, it's all that stuff. That's brutal. See how I'm doing? Just that Bernie Burns, how I'm more careful. That's... That's brutal.
Starting point is 00:25:15 That is terrible. What's all that? Probably the worst thing that's happened. How does he probably... That's... It was pretty traumatizing. That's like the equivalent of like French kissing all your Do-fraud my butt. Yeah
Starting point is 00:25:30 Yeah, I really like drinking someone's tongue It's like it's it's not only it's not just as bad as drinking their spit You're drinking something that was in their mouth that they didn't want to swallow like they don't want that in their body And then his ruminated. Yeah, and It's mixed mixed with other people's and you're like, okay, that's good enough for me. I mean this is gonna be a drinking anything That's string Well luckily the beer you drink is in a clear bottle, so you can be sure that nothing else in there. That's awful the string is the worst That's the worst thing that could happen to you You've heard anything like that happen you go?
Starting point is 00:26:07 No, I'm just focusing on trying not to throw up. The worst thing that's ever happened to you. I was on set, on the set of Sherlock Holmes and the toilets on set, you know, there's trucks with... Honeywagans. They're big trucks. We're talking like 6am is freezing cold We didn't winter and it's muddy and I just slipped in mud and like I slipped down onto my knee and I had like mud all my legs And stuff so I went to the toilet and like clean myself off and then I was I was in there So I was like I have a quick to see so I sat down
Starting point is 00:26:41 And then when you're in the middle of it they like call you on the radio. No, so it's a truck, so it rocks. So as you get in, it's like, oh, but I know all the toilets have like water and stuff in them. So I was there I'd done my Tuesday and I hear the door open of the truck and a guy comes in and slips and falls down onto the steps, the whole truck rocks over. Oh God! Oh, the liquid like slashed up into my undercarriage and I was like, Oh my God! It was like undercarriage. Oh, wow, that's good.
Starting point is 00:27:13 And I was like, oh God, and it was freezing cold and it was like, Oh, like, glue peep-pooh. And I was just like, it's one of those... Stop talking about that. Yeah, that's not good. It's one of those messes where like it's 6am. And I was just like, I was like, I had a little piece of toilet paper and I was like, where do I start? I just like, I want to give up. I'm tired, I'm covered in mud and poo. I just wanted to die.
Starting point is 00:27:46 Wait, wait, wait, wait, you saw your bottom half and just moved your shit, but no one knows. Someone in the back is like, someone's just being sat down and tied and the whole thing was just like, you should have just like kind of light yourself on fire. Yeah, something probably would have been a good thing. Oh, I'm losing. It's all that. So there I am. Like, like, losing. RIP! It's about, so then I am like, like, like, strolling back to the set, like, half an hour later, just like, be cool, be cool.
Starting point is 00:28:11 There's Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. They had a more glamorous morning, I bet. You don't know. You don't know that. Well, they've probably had the same morning, it's ever covered in cocaine. So, they probably had the same morning they just paid for it. And they've probably felt fell better back probably. Oh my god. You guys are killing me here. That's probably my Is he married? Is he married? He's a producer, I think. Because I haven't made him out of that. He can't be married. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I didn't know her, but then she was like, I'm the first season of the dancing show,
Starting point is 00:29:07 whatever that's called, Dancing with the Stars. It's amazing how people are known now for being on the dancing show. Dude, I get really fucking scared. I was in the grocery line. I guess it shouldn't scare me, but I feel like the cover of Us Weekly, the gossip mag. And it was a picture of a woman, a hidden recognizer, and the whole like, caption on the side was, you know, Natasha's worried that Tom left her, and what's gonna happen with Mindy.
Starting point is 00:29:28 We have details inside, it's like, I don't know who the fuck any of those people are. I don't know why she was on the cover of a magazine, or what this drama was going on in her life. I assume it was someone of those housewives shows. I'd say that was the age we're living in, but I feel like for the past 20 years, every time I've gone to the checkout line
Starting point is 00:29:45 I've not recognized anyone Every now and then I'll be like oh look that's Oprah. I know her Yeah, right, right, yeah, that's our school's girlfriend Does he know that there's a scan only cloud picture for her on the internet? He should he's gonna be pissed and my and that What about every time you're new? Is he married? You got me curious now. I gotta find out. Let me find out There's no way place your bets. want to know if I've shot not to the producer. I was I was on the I was on the set I was on the set of the practice today he got fired
Starting point is 00:30:13 Because he showed up late again who got fired? Listen down to junior it is Robert Donnie Jr.'s wife Susan. Oh He is married Susan downie junior You get a middle name too? Do you get the junior? Does that carry over? We need that much money. That's how it works. It's a junior in a female.
Starting point is 00:30:34 What's that? I guess. I've never heard it. I've never done a junior's 5'8". That's probably a lie. How long has it been married? I, I think she likes the Jeulsova. Well, he's been married to Susan Downey since 2005 to present. Seven years? That's a good run.
Starting point is 00:30:52 It's not bad. He was married to Deborah Falkiner. That's a great last name. Falkiner. From Falkiner to Downey, Jr. From 1992 to 2004. American actress and musician. That's who Deborah Falkiner is. Down in junior from 1992 to 2004. American actors and musicians, that's who Deborah Falconer is. Don't know. Anyway, did you ever wanna be cool
Starting point is 00:31:11 to something else when you were a kid? Did you ever wanna be cool like a really cool name that wasn't your name? I would be called, or he's now. He's called Bernie. You know what's funny is that I talked about you to someone else in the company and I was like, oh, I was like, well, you know, Gavina,
Starting point is 00:31:22 and they're like, who's that? like, well, you know, Gavina, and they're like, who's that? Like Gavina, the English guy, you know, like I don't know, I'm like, really? You don't know who Gavina is? Like, oh, Gavin, that's weird. Some people still, I think, Kathleen genuinely thinks that's my name. She introduced me to people as Gavin, you know. That's close enough, it's only one letter I have. You guys will forever always be your user names to me. Yeah, I mean, I think so.
Starting point is 00:31:47 I'll always be the guy who dumped my lens cap in your beer. Much less grow. I mean, you know, that's the grossest thing that's ever happened to me. That's not new. So that's not to that. I wore that. I wore my caboose shirt the other day. It was like watching a... I'm warp.
Starting point is 00:32:00 This is my oldest G-shirt. It's like nine years old now, I think. It looked crisp though. It looks good. It looks like you rarely wear it. It's still too years old now, I think it looked crisp though. Yeah, it looks good It looks like you rarely wear it. It's still weird for me. I bought it thinking I'll go into it I've never did it looks like a finally made Russian There's an age I want to step in here real fast step in I want to say thanks to Bing.com for the support of this podcast I thank them also as you know
Starting point is 00:32:22 Jack's out at E3 this week and I'm hoping that we can talk about Hille 4. You want to talk about some E3 stuff? Probably don't you. Yes. But before we get to any of that stuff, I just want to let people know that being has gone social. So now, when you go to Bing, you can link it with your Facebook or Twitter account.
Starting point is 00:32:39 And when you enter search terms, it searches your Facebook friends or your Twitter friends to see if those people know and you the thing about anything You're looking for I can actually so you can aggregate From your from your friends so you it'll search your Facebook friends I recently liked shared or search content related to whatever you're looking for. I'm a little like Bernie and in spits cup Bernie So for example, I looked up Halo 4 and you can see those are your friends who've liked it or anyone who's supposed to pictures related to it
Starting point is 00:33:05 So it's neat not only to get search engine results, but results from your friends as well directly So if you're interested check it out. It's pretty cool and it's available at Bing.com Yeah, I looked at Brotherhood Blue. Look at Jack's beard and then garden gnome. Jack's beard is he looks like a garden gnome He has to wear a little hat to go along with his beard at this point And he has to be stuck out in someone's lawn But this is about that people say all this is something living in your beard. It could you know it could be a bird's nest Whatever he could have insects in his beard. Why is he growing it out? Do we know it's too? I know I know why I have So there's a reason there's a reason stuck things in my hair and forgot about it
Starting point is 00:33:42 You know when I used to work when we used to work at the call center I blader. When I used to work, when we used to work at the call center, I wonder what his reason is though. Go ahead. When we used to work at the call center, and if you remember, we worked with a guy named Nick, every now and then I'd be on the phone talking, and he would drop computer case screws into my hair, which was a lot busier back then. And they would just get lost.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Like you couldn't find them. And like I would like try to brush it out, but they'd be like really deep in there, and I couldn't get the screws out. But the other you got through a metal detector. See this, this is not a bad problem to have. This is a good problem. All that's a good problem.
Starting point is 00:34:10 What is cool growing his beard out? Jack. Sorry not to mention it. You didn't know who I am right now. No, I'm not talking about it. Oh god. You don't want to talk about why not? I talked about his fleshlight last week.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Do you have a fleshlight? You know that is one of... Actually, I should say one of the few times, it's actually one of the many times where I have called someone and said, hey, you need to listen to the podcast before it goes out. I'm just saying. And did Jack Shreddy's like, I don't know, he had a fun. No, we had talked about it previously.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Yeah, I'm just here with him. I actually drink out of that. What? Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no! You can't keep objects laying around Bernie. I think I just killed Bernie. Oh You can't keep objects laying around burning
Starting point is 00:34:54 I think I just I think I just killed Bernie when I come I just gonna come in this gonna come in here Come in here any later Yeah, I killed him Something's gonna fly out of his eyeball right now. So the circus is a flight into the eyeball. Oh my god, you're going to die, aren't you? I feel like I'm going to. So this is going to come in handy. It's not just telling you what it is, but that is, I ordered that for when I appear on
Starting point is 00:35:20 Abu, if Jack's ever had a chance to get instantly funny. That is instantly it's totally funny You look like church in marathon when you're waiting for it It is absolutely funny It is El-O-L-E-R-E-R right now Can you do a good impression of Jack's voice? I don't know, you know who Ken though is Ryan Ryan can write it
Starting point is 00:35:37 Oh yeah, Ryan's got a good voice He's almost interchangeable with Jack What's up internet? I don't know, I can't do it But Ryan can definitely do it I think we had Ryan on the podcast I want to just a demonstrate I remember that Hey, we should
Starting point is 00:35:45 Those animation guys did a fan God job Before we move on to that, I do want to point out too We actually have a special correspondent reporting with Jack from E3 and that is Ali Bakes Ali Bakes Fragnell cadet who is Dude, I like her hair. Joining us from She has the most insane pink hair. Yeah, dude. Pink hair is great
Starting point is 00:36:03 You know to make your hair pink you have to dye it blonde and then dye it pink. Right, you have to get rid of the color, right? That's dedication. Yeah, multi-step. I like that. That's great. It's a lot of maintenance. It's like, too.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Brune a beer. You have to like keep the time, you have to hop, you have to do steps. I'm just gonna talk about that. They're having a good time out at E3. That's good. We definitely should talk about E3. We should talk about E3. But we're gonna move on to something else though.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Before we do, we're going to read this. This podcast is brought to you by Audible.com, the internet's leading provider of audiobooks, with more than 100,000 downloadable titles across all types of literature and featuring audio versions of many New York Times bestsellers. For our listeners, Audible is offering a free audiobook to give you a chance to try out their service. One audiobook to consider is Game of Thrones.
Starting point is 00:36:44 We were trying to consider, you know, what audiobook to look at this week and Game of Thrones is a huge one. I know you're... Yeah, I'm caught up. I'm going to talk about it. Yeah, so for a free audiobook of your choice, go to audiblepodcast.com slash ruchiteath. That's audio... I'm not going to read that right. That's audiblepodcast.com slash Rooster Teeth. Nice. Now that I've seen the show,
Starting point is 00:37:08 that thing is really interesting in getting caught up on the books, because Adam's read all the books, and he tells me that they're very different or they're different in some ways. Well, the book's cool. Is it cool to game? It's the first one I believe is called a Song of Ice and Fire.
Starting point is 00:37:20 And now that the show's out, I think they've rebranded it. They've done a game of throwing a Song of Ice and fire. It's pretty smart. You know, when I was growing up, people had fantasy books that they were carrying on school sometimes, and they always had like those, they look like, they look like Dungeons and Dragons manuals. And I would stay, because that, I never read fantasy books because I hated the way the covers looked and I just like, didn't want that. But now with, you know, digital books and audio books, I like, I didn't hide that shit on my computer. Yeah, I can enjoy it, just listen to it in the car.
Starting point is 00:37:46 What's fun to me is Game of Thrones is not really on TV in the UK. I mean, it's shot over there, the entire cost is British pretty much. Yeah. You can't, it's not even on TV. They have crazy locations. They shoot a lot of places. Yeah, they shoot in Northern Ireland. They shoot in Iceland.
Starting point is 00:38:02 They shoot in Belfast. Yeah, around the dark ages. I think the anyway to watch is like on Sky Atlantic or something, which is some of the school channels. It's like all your channels over there are the same channels you get when you're on an airplane. There was a guy on Reddit who posted a really funny image which says, having been the only person in my group
Starting point is 00:38:21 of friends who's read the books, this is how I feel every time a game of Thrones episode airs And it was a picture of like Jesus on the mountain like yeah Talking about your people. Yeah, like yeah, he's like you prostitizing to everybody and you know everyone's like right in the actual like watching I really didn't think I was gonna enjoy the series I started watching and like instantly got sucked into it. It's just so good everybody has it So many meaty moments like you'll be watching the story Be good love and then we'll send something will happen you'll be like oh God like the guy decapitated his horse. Yeah
Starting point is 00:38:52 It's a Cup that was near the horse except in that show it's not accidental horse cup Money walked in money. How you are money? have you been watching any game at the wrong title? I want to. It's hard to get hold of. We have the blue race for the season one. You should. You see?
Starting point is 00:39:12 Did you see how we stole the microphone from Gavin? You can't talk on that side, Gavin, you have to talk in the front. Don't really? Yeah, hello. Mine is wearing that cool, the motion capture suit right now. It's not cool. No, it's cool. You should punch. Have you ever punched anyone with the motionan capsule because on the hand you get those problems sticking out?
Starting point is 00:39:28 I punch Gavin, but he's got sensitive balls. Yeah, I'm on to it. I just get my balls He gets the craving so we have I'm surprised we haven't talked at all about E3 or Halo 4 Yeah, and I feel like we we definitely should talk about that. It looks fucking awesome Well, Monty just said then we kind of derailed our talk about episode two of the first two. Oh, right. Yeah. So Monty, tremendous job to you and the team for episode two of Reverse Blue. That was awesome.
Starting point is 00:39:54 It looks like nothing else. It's, this company's ever done. It looks amazing. It's all right. Oh, come on. What was your opinion? Don't tell someone who's wrong with it, because I know you have, anytime you make something you can sit there and look and go, you know, and pick it apart. I was selling Gavin earlier. It was just like I'm just so unimpressed by my own work these days
Starting point is 00:40:10 What's in the list? Are you? Yeah, you should be impressed the rest of us are impressed by your work By the way, just so we're on the record. I'm very unimpressed with Gavin's work lately. So what has Gavin been doing? Make a video You're too high energy money 20 down a little get it was like personally making like three different series He's doing the lights play stuff. Yeah, yeah, let's play is the most fun. Did you see all last night? I enjoyed I'm looking forward to the next The what's that warms? Yeah, we did worms this coming out Friday
Starting point is 00:40:37 What like the game the game was yeah, they did let's play it You did I heard I did not hear the screaming. I was on the other end of the building and I could hear the screaming. No, I hear it every time they scream, I hear it acutely. Did you see our last Minecraft let's play where we rigged the secret trap? Dude, it was like 2000 blocks of TNT. That was awesome. I didn't fucking craze.
Starting point is 00:40:56 I didn't connect it to a button, just an unlabeled button just off to the side. And we were just waiting for someone to hit the button. Michael walks up to it, he's like, this is a button. The world explodes. This reaction, you can have asked for a better reaction. It was absolutely okay.
Starting point is 00:41:09 I like how Jeff follows up with, oh, someone pushed the button. I'm like, what, what, what, what, what? So let me ask you this. Did you guys have to make all those blocks of TNT? Jeff and I over memorial weekend. We spent probably 15 hours making that set. Did you have to literally craft all the parts?
Starting point is 00:41:26 No, you can do it, okay. Okay, but it took a long time to build. Did you get part of the game? No, it's a bug. You build a dispenser. There is a bug grab something. There is a potential bug in Minecraft, which I don't know that we should talk about,
Starting point is 00:41:44 because it's a great bug, and I don't want it to go away. Oh, yeah? And it doesn't hurt anyone. I'm always telling you. Because when you play Minecraft, you're not playing against anyone, really, right? It seems like Minecraft's the kind of game where if it's a great bug, they'll keep it and maybe even.
Starting point is 00:42:00 No, I don't know that they will keep it. And I think they'll get rid of it. If they're going to put Minecraft Xbox on the same Path update path that Minecraft PC slash Mac was there's a whole creation mode in the PC game where yeah You just get everything from the yeah, and it's you know, I have to say that You guys are kind of catching on to the Minecraft now and there was a day that you were playing with some of your friends And I was asking Jack while I was watching him play here at night because he'll stay here sometimes at night and play and I was working on something and he's playing Mike I was just playing on Joel's server and I go what is it a server I go because it's an Xbox game so there's no server he goes no no it's just Joel's game session we joined it go what happens
Starting point is 00:42:36 at Joel quits or his hour goes out he goes I don't know literally a half an hour later Jack comes in my office he goes Joel fell asleep and his Xbox turned off, so we lost 18 hours of work. You gotta be kidding me! You gotta be kidding me! That's the one thing. My wife almost killed me recently. We were playing a game together, and I did something stupid. And we still only had one diamond pickaxe, and I had lost it.
Starting point is 00:43:00 I couldn't get back to it in time, so I restarted the Xbox, so she lost like 30 minutes of work I thought she was gonna fucking murder me For over like 30 minutes. I was like you don't understand. Do I lost the pickaxe? I got to get it back But I do have to say that once they added the creation mode the game became less fun to me like having a diamond pickaxe No longer be deal did you just make right? Yeah, yeah, I say away from those modes for sure Now he's gotta have that struggle. Yeah, I was showing Gav my game the other day. This is like the Matrix speech.
Starting point is 00:43:28 You know where it's like we discovered that if you're having a good time it doesn't work. I get to fuck you constantly. There's a perfect thing. There's an island in my world that's made entirely out of obsidian. Which is really, yeah, it's almost impossible. It's kind of weird, it's like, it's out in the water for me. Like yeah, we're just sailing one day. I was like, oh look at that and it's just like obsidian.
Starting point is 00:43:44 You dig down, it're just sailing one day. I was like, oh, look at that. And it's just like obsidian. You dig down. It's like several blocks deep. Money is there any chance that the graphical interface of rivers is blue is going to go back to 8-bit. Back to 8-bit. It was never that low as 8-bit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Except for the best episode ever on. Although all of a sudden your day would be like 15 minutes long. You'd be just in and out. Yes, this episode was an analog. That would be nice. Totally analog. Popsicle sticks and cardboard. Why don't we see the sequel to that?
Starting point is 00:44:07 Hopefully never. I agree. So that was a very well received episode. People loved it. Yeah. You have to put something out. It was early in the series. It was artist and genuine.
Starting point is 00:44:18 So how does Minecraft work? So let me ask you a question. When you start a game and you make it open to everybody else, they can play. When you quit, then you can save the world. Yes, that's it. Yeah, and yeah, you're totally dependent upon one person Yep, yeah, it's like that's the one thing they need to if they could share maps that would be a huge benefit They should be able to share maps or if one person drops out like host migrates. Yeah, or something like that Something like that. Yeah, where you could have a universal map
Starting point is 00:44:42 Also, I wish the maps were bigger. I like everything about gaming everything in a gaming except for one thing One there's one aspect of gaming that we're fucking making We're gonna put a bullet in my skull and that is modding stuff We have to go in and like download the files get the mod unpack it take the files put them in the right directories There's so much of that in Minecraft where there's one thing like you guys did you guys made all the TNT blocks There's a mod in Minecraft is here where you can make a nuke and it blows a fucking crater that is like miles wide. It's amazing. I wanted to get you guys to do that for a let's play.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Just like the new, but you guys were already working on this thing. It's, I mean, that's the thing. Like the PC version, Xbox version are different, right? Yeah. Where it's like in the PC version, it's also like infinite world, which is awesome. Yeah, the worlds are actually a lot smaller. Yeah, they're a lot smaller, yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:25 And it's, you know, I showed Gaff my subway that's in progress. Yeah, I went over to Gus's, which is a rare occurrence, I guess. You're gonna see my map. Don't interrupt us. Quit interrupting us. This is more important. I'm turning off.
Starting point is 00:45:38 That's okay, because I'm not interested in talking. I'm just trying to put it in a way. I'm talking to you by the way, as he's saying this. It's pretty funny. I went over to Gus's I was poking you by the way, as he's saying this. It's pretty funny. Yes. I went over to Gus' and he cooked some Korean style steak, I guess. Hell yeah. And we had some Korean booze.
Starting point is 00:45:51 You mean you went to his actual place? Korean barbecue. It exists. I went there. So I thought you were talking about Minecraft. We had an awesome night. We had a night of viewing awesome stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:00 He took me for a tour of his Minecraft world, him and Esther. It was an absolute. We have a subway line that runs entirely north to south in the map And entirely east to west and we're building a ring around it to connect the entire world You like the federal government and then we'll be that way Yeah, essentially and then eventually we want to mine out the entire world so that the entire world's just one layer thick And it's just like one layer all the way down to bedrock. This is like a form of insanity where Minecraft will turn, we'll take that autistic side of you and bring it out.
Starting point is 00:46:28 We're just like, everything must be level. You know, it's just like I must clear everything. I didn't even thought about that. Maybe I was gonna dig up under the mountains. Maybe I should just level them and get rid of them all together. This is terrible. This is terrible. I remember there's an episode of Star Trek Enterprise
Starting point is 00:46:41 where they introduced a little video game to the crew and it was really just like to make them crazy. I don't remember that one. You don't remember that? This is Minecraft. So thanks to Gus, I've started watching Breaking Bad. Well, which, walking to the club, I constantly hear people talking about,
Starting point is 00:46:55 but it was weird, because I had absolutely no idea what it was about. Everyone's like, you go watch Breaking Bad. I don't even know what it was, and it was a comedy or anything. And it's the only show I've ever watched where I'm watching it, and I'm like, I have no idea where this is going, and it was a comedy or anything. And it's the only show I've ever watched where I'm watching it, and I'm like, I have no idea where this is going.
Starting point is 00:47:07 Like, lost, you watch it. It's like, I wonder what the island's about, how do they, why do they crash? Like, they say the matrix too. But with Blakey Mountain, I'm like, where is this going? It's awesome. It's like every episode is like, wow. Holy crap.
Starting point is 00:47:20 After a while, it just gets worse and worse. It's like, there's no way you can redeem yourself from this. Really? I mean, it's like one-off episodes or nice like it's a long story But I never tell you guys about the not to do well your conversation about breaking bad But do I ever take about the server that I rented for my kids to play minecraft on? Yeah, I told you about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, we talked I think you might have missed that pocket. You might have been out of town Yeah, I talked about you talking about how you discovering artifacts from someone else's. Yeah, yeah, we talked I think you might have missed that pocket you might have been out of town Yeah, I was talking about you discovering artifacts from someone else's. Yeah, that's crazy
Starting point is 00:47:49 So we want as within your we wander around and find other people's who rented the server before us We'd find their civilizations all of a sudden Everything they had built and it's like we'd explore it and be like this is so strange Because I don't know if you have run into that yet you guys have a map in Minecraft There's there wasn't for a long time. There was not a map of minecraft So you build stuff then you died and you're like Fuck where was I and you could respond you just couldn't find your stuff again and I'm the PC with the much bigger world It's impossible to find yeah, like sometimes in my map will build pillars and then top it with
Starting point is 00:48:18 Torches so you yeah, you know like okay, that's the pillar over there That's what I never ran into that problem. Yeah Yeah, you had to know that the clouds drift north in order to get any kind of sense direction in the PC Do they really drift north? I've noticed that the Sun rises in one direction sets in one direction all the time That's what I know the Sun and the moon both have that same path and that's right kind of what I use Yeah, yeah, I've never had that brother when it's the middle of the day. You're like fuck You this gold like gold armor gold pickaxes. Does that do anything in Minecraft? Gold does that do a 1631 and free-bounded?
Starting point is 00:48:47 I'm sorry, guys. Gold is actually the fastest material. So if you ever go pickaxe. Listen to me. Gold pickaxe bad. Yeah, it will break in like 30 years. Do not make it will mine anything very, very fast. Do not make gold armor before or for media. Don't make gold. Yeah, don't make gold anything apart from a clock and powered rails. Right, powered rails.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Right, okay. Diamond everything else. Yeah, well that's the way that's the way it was on the PC for a long time. In fact, they made gold specifically nerfed it because it was not just comment on commercialism. Which made gold worth nothing. That's an arbitrary value that they assigned to this yellow, malleable metal. Well, we have a problem. Oh, you have a, you and not to have a problem.
Starting point is 00:49:25 Commercialism. Jesus. So when we watched the first episode of Breaking Bad, you were telling me that it was an edited version. Yeah, it was a little different. Yeah. And I looked it up because I wanted to, I wanted to watch that episode again.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Yeah. Because I looked it up and I found out that the original pilot was 10 minutes longer. Yeah. So I went out my way to find that version. I watched that. And it's, it's a lot better. Yeah. It's the, the version we watched the ones on Netflix, he kind of goes from being a
Starting point is 00:49:50 teacher to a meth guy, a meth-cooking guy, kind of too quickly. There's not enough that happens to make him snap like that. But the extended version, I can see why. I wasn't sure if I was a little drunk also. I could have sworn there was the scene in the ambulance that didn't happen. And the guy who the student who saw him washing his car and then took the picture. Yeah, like all that stuff was gone It's a great show that we I till Gavin he had to watch it too because Coming in July when the season starts up again They're gonna show to the Alamo. We're pretty much gonna go every weekend I'm showing Gavin Duke right now. Oh my god. I read yesterday that the final season of breaking that
Starting point is 00:50:24 Holy crap is gonna be eight episodes of this summer, then a break and eight episodes next summer. You know, who's the guy who plays Jesse, the actor? Aaron Paul, he tweeted that he stopped saying it's our final season. It's because I mean, it depends on your perspective. Yeah. They're they're technically breaking up the last season into two eight episode arcs. I see. So that's what he's talking about. Oh, okay. Because he said we start filming season six in October.
Starting point is 00:50:48 So at least that's what's going to be released next summer. I think, okay. So it's season 5.5 or whatever it is that they do now. Eight episodes, not much of a season. No, it's not. But do you want to watch it? Man, I tell you what, this season of Mad Men has been so freaking good. I mean, TV is great now.
Starting point is 00:51:05 TV in a lot of ways is so much better than movies because... What's like, they're so much more engaged. Yeah, well, it's like they've had license with it breaking off and there's so many different channels and venues now. It's like they've had license to get creative and do what they want to do. Yeah. It's not as many people holding the reins going, no, you have to do this or it has to be the structure.
Starting point is 00:51:23 I think it's good, right? I feel like for the first time ever, I'm you have to do this or it has to be this structure. You know, I think it's good, right? I feel like for the first time ever, I'm watching all the shows that I should be watching. Like before, it's like, I didn't watch the wire when people were talking, I'm like, oh, I'll get to that eventually. But I am watching. Did you ever watch it?
Starting point is 00:51:34 Mm-hmm. First season was great. Second season, yeah, I watched it. It's different because the wire changes up season season because they basically change cases and it's like one case for an entire season. Like the first one was, you know, Antoine, her name, Marsh, I think, in Stringer Bell and their drug deal breaking that up. But then the second season, all of a sudden, it was
Starting point is 00:51:52 about this guy in Baltimore who runs the Docks. He's like a Longshoreman and a whole thing like with organized crime in the Docks and the Longshoreman down there. It was really different, but it's still good, still really good. But I was going to say, I'm watching Walking Dead, I'm watching Mad Men, I'm watching Game of Thrones, and I'm watching Breaking Bad. So I feel like I'm getting all the really, really good ones when I'm missing there. I don't know if it's telling the hot. Those are the good ones. I'm not watching any like sparticists or anything like that, is that it again?
Starting point is 00:52:18 I never got in. I mean, does that play on stars? I don't even know where that runs. It's like show time or something. I'm really bad. I like, I really don't watch any TV. Yeah, I mean mean what's walking dead and that's about it. I just watch on iTunes Yeah, just no but still I just I don't watch them and I should probably but I just I feel like I'm on time But yeah, I watch none of that stuff on TV either. I don't watch anything on a television. So what do you do Joe?
Starting point is 00:52:38 In my craft I play Minecraft. I play video games and watch financial news That's it. I'm not kidding. I spent a lot of time on which financial. Jack took me for a little tour around your Minecraft world. You've built an absolute fortress. You're gonna live in it. I've been banned from everyone's case. For first, Bernie just showed you a nuke and then you brought up my map.
Starting point is 00:52:57 So I don't like those two things being brought together. Anyway, I don't like the fact that Minecraft starts in an online mode that isn't invite only. I'll be like filming things to do and I'll go away from my screen. I'll come back and there'll be like three dudes like just like crouching right next to me. It's like, who the hell are these guys? Get out! Yeah, I feel like you should be able to toggle that. Like that should be an option where I never want to play online in an open world.
Starting point is 00:53:21 Well, especially with people who seem not even on my friend's list can just hop in. Yeah, I heard there was a... It's getting serious, it there was a... I heard there was going to be a Minecraft movie. The solution before, you know, they just came out with a Minecraft Lego set. Did you see that? That's all it's that out there. Yeah, it's released. Yeah, and the really interesting thing about that to me is I know some people who worked on the Lego MMO that came out for kids and right before they released it all was still in development Minecraft kind of started to catch fire and I know people who saw like they were around a monitor looking at it and they saw Minecraft and they went well shit like pretty much and the Lego MMO is dead.
Starting point is 00:54:00 It's already gone Lego universe yeah. Oh wow., my kid had a blast. Did it, uh, wow. Okay. So it didn't do well. Nope. There was a Lego announcement at E3. Uh, wasn't there some kind of Lego Lego Lego city Lego city. That was it. Yep. Did do the Halo 4 trailer that they showed or the gameplay they showed? Mm-hmm. It started with a live action. Yes. Yes. Cutscene. Does that mean that the cutscene is gonna be live action? It's just that, just that. Yeah, you had a LEGO universe? LEGO universe is now closed. Wow, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:32 That was an existence like what, a year? A year maybe? Yeah, yeah. It did not stick around very long. I don't know, they didn't say specifically, that was the case. I doubt it because. You know the mic.
Starting point is 00:54:43 I doubt it because that would suck but also oh that's a good reason I could I could see that but there there I mean they're pulling they're putting they're pulling a lot of production value into this I think a lot of times when I see like the live action stuff it's almost like it's just for advertising you know but then again the live action stuff even then it's really really good production value. Those new enemies look pretty fun to fight. Like there's always the risk when they introduce a new enemy into a world you're very familiar with. They inhale into the introduce those drones, the bugs.
Starting point is 00:55:14 Oh right. They were just annoying to fight though. They were like frustrating. They're all over the fucking battle right there. Yeah, or with an SMG. Or the new fucking skirmishers with a double shield and reach? Oh, those are just hard. Those things drive me insane. And also jackals.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Yeah, got worse. Why don't they do the jackals between three and reach? But they became the most nightmarish enemy to fight. Just plasma pistol. Right in the face. You're carrying a plasma pistol. Give me a plasma pistol. I agree with Plasty.
Starting point is 00:55:41 I want to know, is it hard to carry around a plasma? And in this new Halo 4 trailer, you've got this new forerunner weapon. It looks and functions just like the DMR. Like what's the difference? You've got a DMR and a battle rifle in the game, which I know it differently. You're not a big fan of winders dressing. Listen, when Jack comes in,
Starting point is 00:55:58 I keep his talking about the scatter shot. The scatter shot, it's like, it's not a shotgun. No, no. I mean, it's one of the things we're gathering and I have seen some of the stuff, so we actually can't talk about it because we haven't seen the public version yet So we should wait until Jack comes back to talk about it. Yeah, Jackson you three right now Once he comes back next week we can get the the full rundown. What do you thought? All I can so wrong all I have to tell you they're all awesome. Okay. I really I can't wait to
Starting point is 00:56:23 I haven't seen any inside baseball or anything. So I'm pretty clear. I've all I've seen is the trailer. Right. Fantastic. I was really blown away with how how good how gorgeous it looked on that. On that. Yeah. That first level in Halo 3 when you're going to the jungle and you encounter the broots. The gameplay that they showed reminded me of that when he's chasing down the crashed infinity. Yeah, and then they had that cool thing that in game event Where he attacks the group of grunt and then the elite charges him with a sword and then yeah, you're really bad So I go oh shit, I can't leave this sort and then he gets Zach and disintegrated by something you like okay That's a great Like a note point has that ever happened in the Hayley game like this integration or it's just like an elite is this like this
Starting point is 00:57:04 Yeah, that's thing and something just like fuck it So those things she said that they are they are not organic. They're like a con AI construct But why don't they have a skull they look and they're using They look or another that's that's that's good. You know, it's like yeah exactly. What's going on with that? Yeah, it had like a human skull behind that mask. Well human shaped. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So they are not the foreigners, right? The foreigners were actually organic beings. Mm, right. You should read some of the books, man.
Starting point is 00:57:30 I've got to read the books. I really want to, and also that gun, when we went over to do the Halo 4 work, when we got to see it early, I was obviously just trying to see all the new weapons. I was dropping that gun and picking it up over and over again, just because of the way it assembles. That's so cool.
Starting point is 00:57:43 It's like magnetizing. The way all the pieces come together, yeah. I would just drop the weapon and pick it up over and over again and because of the way it assembles. That's so cool. It's like magnetism. The way all the pieces come together. Yeah, yeah. I would just drop the weapon and pick it up over and over again and keep watching that. It's so cool. It's like a trend these days. The very finite transformer type animations. Do you notice?
Starting point is 00:57:55 Transformers is just ruined trailers. Every trailer now has like, marroning like, well, wasn't that inception? That the barge and the marron, marron, marron. Marron. So how was it? It's a noise I made when I was getting rid of the string. Wasn't that inception that the the Barnes and the So how was that noise I made when I was getting rid of the string I'm very excited for a fall I don't think I could have asked for a better Things are for them to show I can I say that this year seemed like it had an outrageous amount of new titles coming out. Like everything that was coming out this year, it was just like, how am I going to play everything that's coming out this fall and winter? And it seems like the only thing at E3 I hear about is Halo 4.
Starting point is 00:58:32 Am I just, is it because I'm biased? Like we've watched the... No, there were some other big things. Where's the Borderlands 2 information? Well, I think they're shipping so soon that they didn't have a lot of stage presence. They're showing stuff that's further down the pipe. I was expecting a GTA 5 something, I guess, yeah, nothing. I didn't know that that was in the pipe. Yeah, they've announced that there's that trailer. Which press conferences have happened? All of them. Microsoft Sony Ubisoft, EA and Nintendo. Okay. I mean, definitely that halo. I mean, watching the Microsoft keynote, like that halo for, I mean that... To me, hit the hardest. Yeah, it was a great, great start.
Starting point is 00:59:07 Yeah. The, the only thing I was kind of disappointed at was that Splintless L. You were disappointed? I thought so. I thought it. I mean, I really love it. I really love it. It's one of my favorite series, but that didn't excite me very much too.
Starting point is 00:59:18 It seemed like we were talking about that. It seemed like it was the, maybe the Assassin's Creed engine. I mean, they're very similar sneak around, kill people. I get to say something, I was disappointed by. Where's Bungie? Oh, yeah, they said they weren't officially gonna be at E3, right?
Starting point is 00:59:33 This year. So it's like, this is, what's the cycle? Is it usually the cycle you get the announcement of the game and you hear about it. Like, remember, when they did reach, granted they were back in the Microsoft marketing engine back then, but they did the video when they were putting out odc they put out that planet video of reach where you're going around the planet
Starting point is 00:59:51 and it's on fire and it's like we have Spartan on the ground. And just a halo reach. And it's like it announced the game. Then the following three we got information about the game and then we got the game. Maybe they're still too early in the development cycle. Maybe so really. I don't know. And also that was the time to when they had what was the debacle with the ODST was called recon and then they pulled the trailer from the E3 demo right wasn't that something like that that happened it was it was slated to a year something something was canceled last minute yeah I remember everyone at bungee being like I'm sorry you know like upset about it yeah they
Starting point is 01:00:21 had to be counting down time around the west side yeah and then it was and it was just it counted down there like yeah we're not having this I guess. Yeah. Oh, yeah, forgot about that Because Nintendo and Sony didn't have good press conferences and Microsoft and last like we don't need all this other stuff Like what save this for later time? I think Sony announced the move They here, you know Nintendo announced I don't know who knows we music. I think that was that same year. Yeah I was I was I think the game I was most underwhelmed by was probably the Tomb Raider one. What do you how do you feel about that? Sorry, one tees made it my mic. How do you feel about the smart glass stuff? It's interesting. I'm really
Starting point is 01:00:54 curious to see how well it works with you know multiple platforms. I almost ended up working on that Tomb Raider game. It was actually either Rousseur Teeth or Crystal Dynamics after my last job. I think I made the right choice. So fuck you. I will be honest though, it is hard and it's just this is weird too. I might be like this with Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto. It is hard to make that transition to where you like the inspired by game more than the original and I'm definitely like that with Encharted and Tomb Raiders. I think Encharted is very inspired by Tomb Raider. And Encharted is fucking awesome. Did you see the last of us demos that they gave?
Starting point is 01:01:35 I did not and I have seen a little bit of watchdogs the one that everybody is thinking about. That's funny you say that Encharted seems inspired by Tomb Raider because when I visit their office And they kind of give you the lowdown on like you know What their games about versus you know and non-chart is very present at the time. I think it was three years ago You tell my the Tomb Raider people gave you two made a poll talking Tomb Raider people and like we're not uncharted Well, I feel like yeah, Unchart had definitely draws from it as well as like a mix of Tomb Raider and Indiana Geo Collett. Dude Raider. Dude Raider.
Starting point is 01:02:08 What does that... I can't... Oh God. It feels like something else. Yeah, you know, just a more clear... Something that happens to be a beach and so... I look at the new Tomb Raider and it's like now it seems kind of inspired by Uncharted, doesn't it? What's that?
Starting point is 01:02:23 It seems kind of Uncharted, the new Tomb Raider. Because you think about Tomb Raider, it's not a, originally wasn't like an aim and shoot game, you know? It was auto-aim and acrobatics. Yeah. Now it's, and tigers. And tigers. Now it's third person shooter.
Starting point is 01:02:39 You duck and cover, fire over a reticle. Yeah, that's true. You know, everyone has a game that I'm envious of that they have a thousand points in. And a lot of moaning apparently, Lara Croft, she moans a vertical. Yeah, that's true. You know, everyone has a game that I'm envious of that they have a thousand points in. And a lot of moaning apparently, Lara Croft, she moans a lot. Really? Well, look at the Trilogy.
Starting point is 01:02:51 She's like gasping and moaning every like every all her shit. She's getting the shit kicked out of her. That's what happens when you're ragdolling for three minutes. There's a lot of moaning. There's nothing wrong with her moaning. I take who looks awesome.
Starting point is 01:03:02 It's Cortana looks awesome. Cortana looks like a cool fucking storyline there. Yeah. Especially if it's like they're starting a new trilogy, which is what I keep hearing. And if there's so heavy on the Cortana stuff at the beginning of it, it's gonna be fucking awesome. There's a lot of stuff I like about the Halo universe
Starting point is 01:03:15 and like the rampancy of an AI is very interesting. They kind of tease that in the trailer talking Cortana mentions that she's been in service for eight years and AI's are different. And that's all the mendicant by stuff that I've read about. Just sounds awesome. Cortana is by far my favorite character in the Haley universe. But, Bornon, I love Cortana. I think she's an awesome, very interesting character. Yeah, and what you can do with it and where that can go. Totally. Didn't Frank O'Connor and one of the earlier, like the first look
Starting point is 01:03:35 at Halo 4 trailer, say about how most of the story and foes in books and comics, and they want to bring that more into the game, I think that's awesome, because I love the books. And then, I think that's the first look at Halo 4 trailer say about how most of the story info is in books and comics and they want to bring that more into this into the game I think that's awesome because I love the books I hope we get to see other Spartans I think we saw other Spartans behind him in that trailer yeah I but I bet you those are like the Mark IV or something something yeah yeah we saw the Spartans in reach yeah I'm talking about the book Spartans will Fred
Starting point is 01:04:05 But you know, don't be those doce of on X Spartans go so von X Yeah, yeah, yeah, cuz they end at the book and the go's Von X that book they end up in a Dyson sphere Mm-hmm, you know this protected this game is a Dyson sphere it ends up in a Dyson sphere looks like a lot I mean some people plenty people already speculated that from the first hill of fort teaser Where they I'm literally the only person in this room who understands what you're saying Yeah, I'm like yeah, it's because of my so forerunner thing and it's just you should read go so vonix is a good one Okay, I'm tossed between ghosts of onix and fall reach being my favorite books I refull of reach a regos of onix and I would read a krypton I think the krypton is really important red krypton
Starting point is 01:04:42 The like the new one that just came out. I personally like first contact a lot, but it doesn't so much really matter. I think if you're just gonna read the books. Right, because let's check it out. On the larder. On audible.com. Okay, get Halo Cryptim, Halo Primordium, Glass Lands. Looks like there's a bunch of them.
Starting point is 01:04:59 And they're all unabridged. Yeah, Karen Travis books and Greg Bear books are the new ones. They're all great. But yeah, I'd say follow each and go Savonix's cool maybe go some on X more than follow each because you probably know the story of fall Reach now. What does unabridged mean it means that nothing was cut out from it. Oh, there's go so varnics Yeah, they kind of had to make some updates to the books because they're canonical But the games really drive the story and so when the game does something they kind of go back and update the books to do it I really drive the story and so when the game does something they kind of go back and update the books to do it. You'd never saw Red Dwarf but in the middle of that they re-wrote.
Starting point is 01:05:27 Like the writers didn't change anything but they just in season three they just changed the history of the show. You know really? I don't like it. They just completely changed the past. I kind of think they did that with Sortrag right? Did they? Yeah. I mean, yeah. They've not been in that either. No it's the prime universe.
Starting point is 01:05:44 It's just like, yay, forget it. Forget all that're not a fan of that either. No, it's the prime universe. It's just like Yeah, forget about forget all that forget the past one. Yeah, like I think red dwarf started in the 21st century And then it was set in the 23rd century all of a sudden all about fucking alternate dimensions. Well I mean at the end of the day at the end of the day, it's a narrative At the end of the day, it's a narrative. It's in the scene. Yeah, yeah, just throwing everything That was written. Yeah, and it's and it's like why why are they destroying everything? Because we can't deal with the backstory. I have a next to so much backstory So we can't write something creative based on the crack story Well forget the backstory and the next generation everything out the window now
Starting point is 01:06:19 I mean the counterpoint to that is you know when the show like Star Trek for example has been around for 40 years and has all this canon You like you've maybe told all the stories you need to be able to free yourself. Here's a fuck that There's you have not told all the stories. No, no, no, no No, there's a large there's a large solution to that and we didn't eat We have the same problem with our rebate. It's like we Tundu something new and we have to fulfill back story, right? Well, we go check we do check right? We don't toss the shit out the window, but anyways, there's a larger. There's a larger problem here It's why did they have to fulfill back story right but we go check we do check right we don't toss the shit out the window but anyways there's a larger there's a larger problem here it's why did they have to make a new star trek movie why didn't they make something else yeah they can
Starting point is 01:06:51 tell you're saying Gus I agree with Marty you can just start a new side for franchise if these stories are some but the top is what are you talking about though what what changed well the last movie right where uh Spock I can't feel a black hole because it's the prime universe right where uh... stock i think you'll like what it's the prime universe now and uh... in a spot with captain and it's a really different story though it's not very writing you think they're rewriting well i mean think about it if next generation is definitely happen the same way it happens now because all right planet is gone
Starting point is 01:07:17 right it's still it is still no in next generation i can have you all a few years and yeah because all can doesn't exist anymore So the timeline is definitely and they really did do that in the main universe No, no, this is the prime universe. They don't they did that they didn't destroy Vulcan. They destroyed Romulus no, but in this most recent movie Vulcan also got destroyed in the prime universe in the new one not in the old one right yeah wait Okay, so it's not it's so he's saying search recognition can happen because Vulcan exists no Not in the old one. Right. Yeah. Wait. Okay. So it's not, so he thinks search recognition can happen because Vulcan exists.
Starting point is 01:07:46 No, that's a separate timeline. The split happened before that. Right, right. But when it gets to about 200 something years after this movie and Jean-Luc Picard doesn't even get on that ship and do they even do the things they have to do. No, because it's totally different universe. Yeah, now it's different. It's totally different.
Starting point is 01:08:01 It's totally different. It's different. It's different. It's different. It's different. It's different. It's different. It's important to use it universe right two box churning in his nonexistent grave And we're really hitting a nerdy nerdy podcast. Yeah, I'm lost. I love it It's awesome. I wonder how many people are two box the black Vulcan in What's that series voyager? Yeah, he was it no he was on enterprise or was no he was on voyager Yeah, yeah, but then this kind of
Starting point is 01:08:24 He was on Enterprise or was no he was on Voyager, but this kind of Goes into a discussion. I was having with Eddie who's helping me write Season 10 of Reversal Blue because I need like money helps a lot too because money money watch has probably watched more Reversal Blue than I have he watches it on a loop so that what he's doing stays honest to the main series commentary and not I wonder if it's clearer for him because it's sort of like okay This is what was set forward. I just watch it where in your mind. it's sort of like, okay, this is what was set forward. I just walked it where in your mind, there was like, oh, maybe I go here, maybe I go there, but you didn't kind of maybe and it's just sort of like I've always had a clear picture. I've always had a clear idea like the main story thread and saying faceful, faithful to that,
Starting point is 01:08:56 but occasionally I'll start like a joke, right? And then it becomes like a joke, then it's set on screen, then it becomes part of the deal. And so I have to go back and make sure my honor that the big time was you I learned a long time ago don't give text jokes Like text and about just about to say it's text Nevada text made a joke where it was it was misinterpreted It was misinterpreted her her codename was Nevada because her delivery was Yeah, cuz he's text making a joke. He text doesn't make jokes, and so everyone took it as you know Her name was Nevada, but it's like if you listen to the conversations She's these what was your name text and she was Nevada. But it's like, if you listen to the conversations, you said, what was your name, Tex?
Starting point is 01:09:26 And she goes, Nevada. Like, right idiots. Yeah, no shit. So anyway, whenever we do this, whenever we get in discussion about writing, the same thing always comes up, especially after writing something for 10 years, people always ask, did you have all this in mind when you started? Like, they see where the story has gone since it started off
Starting point is 01:09:44 with two idiots talking on top of the base. They go, did you have all this in mind? You started? Like they see where the story has gone since it started off with two idiots talking on top of the base I go did you have all this in mind? You know, did you have us planned out? It's like did I have 10 years written before we started? No people get attached to that sort of thing. They're very it's very important to people that's like you had this all Planned out from the very beginning right? No like no not at all They've they've said in many many commentaries. I've listened to that the script right like gets rewritten many times in a movie In just a movie that you go see it gets rewritten written Well, I mean I can it's it's funny. I mean I can tell you like the TV framework
Starting point is 01:10:13 Which is sort of like here here's where we're at. Yeah, this is where we want to be by the end of the season Yeah, we're gonna have an arch Okay, we're gonna hit this point by episode four we hit this point by episode four, we're going to hit this point by episode 16, we're going to hit these points. And between the other, what's going to happen? Yeah, but my mouth says, or it's like maybe it's not a season, maybe it's three seasons across these three seasons. Yeah, you lay seeds, right? Right. But it's like, exactly. So it's like, but it's probably different arcs, different things, different points and time. I'm going to wrap the history of it. I had specific backstreet written for like Carolina and some of those agents.
Starting point is 01:10:45 But like then you discover like the universe that you build, you hopefully build a big, strong enough world toward you can write within it. You know, like here's a story I can tell using the universe that we've built. And I can tell a story in this. And to me, that's great. Great example is Tolkien. Bilbo finds that ring in the Hobbit. He had no concept that that ring in the habit he had no
Starting point is 01:11:05 concept that ring was going to be what it was and that ring is what everyone knows the series being that the ring is just a ring that he found it was just a ring that made him invisible column had it that's all it was and it's funny inside by the university build around is so important and so important you know and so cool that's talking went back and it took i think it's been 10 years to write fellowship He went back and said what do I have and he's like what about this ring? What if this ring is something miraculous that he found like it's not just I found it at the bottom of cave
Starting point is 01:11:34 And it was a way to tell riddles with a lizard man, you know It's it's ridiculous or more importantly that the ring found them and willed them to come It's ridiculous. There's no other that's in the it. Tolkien, like he didn't find success in anything. He did until he was like 80. Isn't that crazy? Did you ever read that? Pretty crazy. That's other book.
Starting point is 01:11:51 Was it the one that comes after the similacrum? That's my plan. Similarium. Similarium. Similarium? Similarium. Have you ever read that one? No, I try.
Starting point is 01:11:57 I haven't either. I've heard it's very dry. Like almost like a history text book. It's a bizarre nature in people. They, for some reason, they need to take something to its like ultimate conclusion. Like, you know, Back to when you wrote R. E. B. episode one, did you plan all this out? You know, as like as if they're like the dissecting it and you know, they just want to pick it apart. It's like that like the nature of
Starting point is 01:12:19 The way you know, you to me that's totally fine., I love people who want to pick it apart. You know, it's like, because I remember being a fan of like, enterprise, and it's like, that was the way I enjoyed it. That was the way I consumed it was picking it apart. And that's why, that's why I enjoyed about the Star Trek universe. Was like, what is this? What does that mean? How does this relate to that?
Starting point is 01:12:37 It doesn't mean it's... You ever go and ask, like, this stuff in Voyager or Enterprise was intentional back in 1970. But I'd like to. And even if it wasn't intentional, maybe there's something there. And it's like, oh, that's cool. Maybe that can be there. I think the thing that bothers you is the living, the living, the living, the living, the living, the living thing. We started the freelancer thing back in episode 10 of season one. Like, established the freelancers and what the rules were and who text was as a part of that and have built on that, you know.
Starting point is 01:13:04 I think the thing that bothers people is they kind of have it in their head like this imagination that the writers are like you know just kind of going willy nilly and they say oh I put this thing here 10 years ago I'm going to use it now and I'm making it up right on the spot and they feel like the made up part is what bothers them I think. Well you just something clever with season two, where caboose runs behind the scene in the base and then use that for the back in time bit in season three. I will say, I love clever stuff.
Starting point is 01:13:31 We have definitely put stuff in, of the thought of years ahead, and we stuck it in and then paid it off much, much later. We have done that for sure. But that wasn't on purpose with that moment. I know the caboose one with the guy running behind the background and then you made a church. I know the girl, who's the guy running behind the background? And then you may be sure. I'm talking to Matt in season three,
Starting point is 01:13:48 or whatever, where it's like, oh, wouldn't it be great if we went back and redefined everything that happened? I remember having conversations about this. Who knows where that went, or whatever, but it's like recontextualizing things is great. What was the reason? But that doesn't fall in your realm of their changing the back history as opposed to recalibits.
Starting point is 01:14:06 It makes sense. It connects. You know the connection. It's a lot of the way. Yeah, yeah. I mean, but it's so fit. It doesn't have to go against what you said. Fucking book of Eli, dude. That was insane, dude. Yeah, I know I haven't I hear nothing but positive things. Yeah, I said very good things about it. You know, to me, you know, this is kind of going back to what mine was saying earlier, maybe. I don't really know, but this is going to be really stupid.
Starting point is 01:14:30 But at the end of the day, who does this story belong to? Right. And at the end of the day, the story belongs to the fans. I totally believe in this. And the question that they're asking when they answer questions, are you staying genuine to the original thing? Well, that's the question.
Starting point is 01:14:44 The other thing is that they're coming from a better place than we are almost, where it's like if they're a fan of something and they're looking at it as entertainment and they're engaged in it, they may find things that maybe we don't find or whatever, and that doesn't, there's total validity. You seem like they'll read things into something that's not really there. Well, you know, but if it doesn't go against canon
Starting point is 01:15:09 and it makes sense or whatever, and it's entertaining or whatever, maybe there is something there. You know what it's, I mean, it's like, if it, I don't know, this sounds kind of goofy and stupid what I'm talking about, but it's like if it lives in their imagination
Starting point is 01:15:19 and makes sense of the story, that's great. Bernie, how do you feel about it when you put something in and it's something a fan has like Therely thought out on their own. It's just maybe coincidence Like that they're they're almost like hey, I thought of that you must have found my fan thick There's a lot of feedback right so it's like you know almost like a thousand I'm not sure what you don't actually do think I more than anything else in terms of writing is stuff like this. These conversations is that sometimes we talk about things and throw things out there.
Starting point is 01:15:52 And then I might even have said who knows in some interview, like talking about Caroline on some of the stuff with her. And I probably have revealed that just because like, yeah, we had this whole backstory with Caroline, and here's what she does, and this is what she does this and that. And I say it, but we're never going to show that. and then all of a sudden we hire Monti and guess what we can show that Yeah, oh shit. I said that out loud. I remember you talking about that. I remember Monty coming on board. I remember Monty saying hey wouldn't be cool if we did this. You know exactly right? What would it be cool if we did this? Yeah, you're seeing the result of that which that's great. Yeah. Yeah yeah I mean yeah I'm gonna do more of it At the end of the season. Yes a lot more a lot more a lot more something I like doing now when I'm watching something is I'll go back and watch the first episode again and I love like saying something like game of thrones It's amazing what happens in the first season like people die and stuff and then you go out to the first episode
Starting point is 01:16:41 And you see them all like meeting each other and you just think Wow, if only you know if only you knew what was about to happen to you what what this guy would say It's funny. You you have a connection with that show that like yeah, that's exactly great Yeah, so like you watch first episode this episode again. You see like little juffery walking in it's like This guy is gonna screw your world up The trail characters always interesting when you go back and watch and you see the betrayal character, you're like, you fucking dick. You've been worse in video games when you help it up, and you're like,
Starting point is 01:17:10 and the guy who plays dropping must be a really good actor, or he must be a really huge dick in real life. You're not getting a part after that that's not a complete prick. It also makes stuff like that where you see people meet and stuff. It makes me worried. Like, what if I've met the person who murdered me already I would find no someone who's who you know one day will kill me maybe in 30 years time It's like if only I knew now I'm gonna murder you. Yeah, you probably have met that person when I murder you
Starting point is 01:17:37 We're gonna be having fun. Yeah, no good time. Not in a weird way Madden I would just talking about that about York and Wyoming It's like how many people remember that you go watch out of mind. That is Wyoming Killty. That is the weird thing about Red versus Blue and sort of the great thing I think about Red versus Blue is that there are definite like huge moments, but it's like it was kind of buried because if you go back and you look at that little mini series that was done
Starting point is 01:18:06 That is not as popular as what's going on now, but you know what the stuff that happened back then hugely significant Oh, absolutely, you know, it's like all the reconstruction stuff. Yeah, right and it's almost like A lot of fans that I talk to when I'm at boost or whatever like oh, yeah, no, I just started watching It's like oh you there's you should go back and look it You'll really like it or whatever. But I try to make it so that key important points aren't more than one season away. Back story stuff and framework is layered throughout.
Starting point is 01:18:34 But I try not to call back in a way that's supposed to be important. You're supposed to have some of your emotional reaction to something that happens on screen or is said that that can't be too far away from that moment. Because I just recognize that people haven't watched entirely all 10 years. I think in terms of story it's important that that's all honored but like something is like keeps hitting me in the face where it's like
Starting point is 01:18:54 we come across new fans who's like oh I haven't watched all that I'm just watching this it's um I'm talking plot wise character wise I go all the way back to day one because those characters have been built up for so long yeah yeah it's funny for me like all of these story arcs I think of how much It's character wise, I go all the way back to day one because those characters have been built up for so long. You have to honest. It's funny for me, like all of these story arcs, I think of how much Red versus Blue has grown and Ruserteeth has grown along the way. And I think of technical milestones
Starting point is 01:19:13 that we've hit in all of these projects. Like I remember when we did out of mind specifically, that's the first time we started capturing in HD. And we had to start, like we had to build up our internal framework, like, oh shit, we need faster hard drives and to learn how to do this. We started doing that. And now we've gotten to the point where with season 10, we have a build up our internal framework, like, oh shit, we need faster, hard drives. We need to learn how to do this. We started doing that. And now we've gotten to the point where with season 10,
Starting point is 01:19:26 we have a render farm here, where we have people working, spinning stuff out to a farm, and we're like, oh awesome. We're getting 70 frames an hour out of the render farm. We're there, great. There are certain choices that are made in this story, based on 10 years history. Oh yeah. And there are artistic choices. And for a lot of the fans who haven't been around 10 years history. Oh yeah. And there are artistic choices. And for a lot of the fans who
Starting point is 01:19:46 haven't been around 10 years, those artistic choices based on 10 years are not relevant. But they're not relevant. But they're honest. And so that still comes across. I think a longer term fan will appreciate it on that level. But another one will just say that it's a good performance. It also, I mean, when you meet a person today, you know, he has 20, 30 years of history to himself. That makes him who he is, but you don't know what those are. You just seeing what's presented in front of you. Our longest most laid out choice in reveal was episode 16 of Reconstruction, the big twist that happens there. And it was such a long arc for that that we actually had to do flashbacks and show it.
Starting point is 01:20:23 Because it wasn't in that season. Flashbacks to season five. Season three. Season three. Yeah. And I think that might have been season two. Yeah. Yeah. We went all the way back. So we had to show that stuff in flashback just because it was like it was not current. Like we had to bring people up the speed and find a way to do that. Yeah. You did have to cut and just deleted scenes on season six about text because she's just not a relevant character to that to that season Nope, you know at the same time. She's a hugely relevant character to church Well, you you know
Starting point is 01:20:51 It's must have been a really hard choice. I didn't know that people were going to like reconstruction because it was so different This is season six of Rivers will be talking about it was so different from everything else I just wanted to make it a story and it's like a villain You had a hero and it was just an encapsulated story and it was it was prepared to not do that anymore You keep going back to story to your credit, which is fine But like some of the stuff isn't story related like some of the choices have nothing to do with story But there's significant choices there. I really almost shouldn't even talk about this because I can't get it into it Okay, but it's sort of like, I'm talking about execution. Yeah. Where there are choices made on how it's going to be executed based on going 10 years back and that's maybe not relevant. There's whatsoever. It's not story-based. Yeah. It's execution-based.
Starting point is 01:21:35 Why don't you tell me what you're talking about? We can just cut it. We can't tell it. No. I'm very drunk right now. Okay. There's also something. Are you, are you am I acting? Well, I'm talking about part of that, yeah Talk about it. I mean, I'm talking about the execution. I'm talking about stuff that's not story-based I mean, there's some execution acting. I'm talking about animation How it's delivered. Yeah, okay. I mean, okay, sure. Are you talking about the thing we did recently? Potentially. Okay, okay, now I know your question. There's some tough season six stuff like one particularly I just I just don't know how you could have gotten around it is when like Kaboos was knocked out and
Starting point is 01:22:09 Wash, you know, it's like do you have a doctor? Like no, it's like he walks off and then Simmons is like hey, why don't you do the ghost thing? It's like that just if you're not familiar that totally comes out from the left side. That's true That's true, but I mean I think at some, at some point it's like, I can't, I always said I can't. Also, I like this thing for people who don't watch it. I can't, I can't. I can't, I can't.
Starting point is 01:22:30 Let me ask you a weird question. Do you think there are people who listen to the podcast that don't watch Red vs. Blue? Yes. Absolutely. Wow, it's gonna be really confusing for them. Listen, my theory, my theory in that is, Oh, is that very, my theory in that is,
Starting point is 01:22:42 My theory in that is, It's a very special podcast for all of you. We are, you can just pick that up and hang it it up. We are you know, we never talk about our We are not TV. This is not TV. We don't have to write stuff like it's TV We can this a 10-year serial storyline if you took that to a TV show We're gonna have ten and every every episode depends on the last one They would say you can't put this on the air to agree more But it's funny even we were talking about earlier about TV schedules, even now TV schedules different
Starting point is 01:23:06 from what they were three years ago. But it's like, you're absolutely right. And my thing is, is like, I can write the show so it's accessible and people can just watch one episode and that's it. But why bother writing something for the people that don't watch it? Right.
Starting point is 01:23:19 For the people that watch it. And if you look, if you're confused, you have 10 years, good for you, that you can watch. That's the way I always talk about when we discover something late and it's run. We're like, now it's a great day ever because I can go back and watch. Now let me finish. I'm not dude.
Starting point is 01:23:32 Please. You can't. I mean, not. Come on. Michael, I'm not. Anybody finish. I'm too late. So you think Michael got really drunk in the last eight spot guest and wouldn't let him finish.
Starting point is 01:23:41 Sorry. Sorry. So then you can discover and go back and you have, you know, 10 years worth of entertaining.aining a cut-up on and that's that's the thing that we love about about finding something late. It's right now everything is on demand. So yes, so why do people keep complaining with the episodes are too short? Oh, they told more. That's totally different. I think that that's a good complaint. That's a good complaint. Oh, it's true. And those are the people watching day to day or week to week. As a person who makes the animated scenes it's hard it's hard yeah you guys are here all hours crazy I just wrote something last time I'm gonna pitch that you're in a minute right damn it that's true I'm not gonna fucking bring it on I don't it's true I'm I'm it's a
Starting point is 01:24:16 miracle I'm even sitting right here and historically for the writing of Red versus Blue the endings especially like there's there's a lot of tend to be like more emotional, they don't happen very often, but there's usually typically like kind of a wrap-up emotional moment tie-up that'll happen two episodes before the end or something like that. And those usually kind of kind of murky for a little while, and they all come together once we start making the show and it's like okay this is what we need to do for them. So, what is your favorite visual gag that you've done? Because when we were talking about that, I was just reminded of that moment where church is body full of flavor. I think how funny that was. That was Nathan to death, funny.
Starting point is 01:24:52 That was really funny. When it was just overalls over like a manicure, my favorite visual gag of all time is when Washington's approaching red base. It's like early on in his introduction and Sarge has that cut out that comes forward and it's like What is that? There's got to be Sarge actually standing there. Oh right. Yeah, he comes up like a thing and There's a funny joke that we kind of went like not everyone saw it But it's when Caboose was guarding the wrong base or something like that. I thought it was pretty funny He was like watching the opposite base. Well, I never said that you're watching They tell him to go watch his base. He watches the wrong base or they told me to watch red base and watch this
Starting point is 01:25:26 Zone but the the thing about episode two we're reconstruction to is like we have the cardboard cutouts That's like one of the silliest things we've ever shown and it was just like could we had to have that because once we started Introducing the bloodguards characters back into this thing the first episode was so plot driven that we knew that it was going to be a gut Reaction to it And even after that episode, Puga, the show is so much more serious now. It's like we just showed cardboard cut-ass popping up that turned into real people. I mean, it's like how much more silly could you get? And then I guess I think my favorite visual effect that I ever did, I guess, because it was a purely machinima one, was...
Starting point is 01:26:03 It always makes me laugh though though when church shoots the meta and he has that unbelievable ricochet shot and everybody's looking and watching it ricochetshail over that it finally hits the meta in the leg. I don't know why, that was a bitch to coordinate the head turns. Oh yeah, it always is. I feel bad about talking there. I feel mad about that. I'm just getting yelled at by Gus, you know. I'm right about that. It's just a daily thing. While I was waiting to come in here, I guess there was a meeting in here before I was just walking around. I was looking at that picture of Joel, on the poster for the schedule. When was that? What year was that?
Starting point is 01:26:38 I was a long time ago. Why do I look like Matt Damon in that picture? You have an aged very much. What is your... I'm, it was long time ago. Why do I look like Matt Damon in that picture? You, I haven't aged very much. No. What is your, like, I've had Dick Clark thing
Starting point is 01:26:51 where I'm just gonna be like, I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. Dead. You look exactly the same. Your hair's a bit more swishy in that photo, which is I guess a sign of the photo. I can even put that in perspective for the difference between us. Like that, when he took that photo,
Starting point is 01:27:04 that was the same year that I did that Adam Sandler interview Wow How different I holy crap. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, he looks like a totally different person. You look identical Yeah, I'm actually looking at the looking at the poster right now. I'm actually a little freaked out about it myself Actually, I'm not sure what you're scared. I'm scared about talking now Oh, yeah, I can can't be anywhere since last week's drunk guess what is it you this power you have that last week was four drunk people guess is guess is the man because you know you know my man buddy's Nevada I feel bad I love you man no no it's like I I got like
Starting point is 01:27:42 we have had some hard days on the road Joe and I travel a lot together. Yeah, and some actually even harder nights Joe and I had a really good trip this time where we took a trip together just recently we had a really good time That was a fun trip and and that might have been the most fun I have had With this company in 10 years he was like a kid in a K80 store. He was having a blast. It was hard, but it was fun. Well, now this is creepy, right? Because you can't use the word hard.
Starting point is 01:28:11 You ruined it now. Eric, don't show. Take a drink on my cup. Well, I can't wait to see the end result of that trip. I'm really looking forward to that. Yeah, it should be about us. I keep touching this, because I keep me going to bring it up.
Starting point is 01:28:21 We have new girl shirts that are coming out in the RCT store. And there's some pretty cool ones. And we have the sections being that are coming out in the RCT store and there's some pretty cool ones and we have the sections being expanded. It's taken photos of that yesterday. I like the, it's not me, it's you. What happened on that photo shoot yesterday? Because we had all basically all the females and employees of the company modeling the shirts. They are way better looking than us, dude.
Starting point is 01:28:42 They are way better looking. They are all like yesterday they were taking pictures and it's like, where did all the hot people come from? I think the distance is there was not a bad picture in that bunch. The differences, I think they take care of themselves. Why, one of the things that is that how guys can how straight guys can be a judge of how good looking another guy is. Like, you asked me one day, who do you think is the best looking guy in the office? I have idea I'm I'm the worst judge I don't have someone's ugly or not but you seem to have like a good radar for that so who are you most likely to bang then what was it usually wait wait wait Gavin Gavin Gavin Gavin a Paxies you got fairly drunk and you were like oh let's go with this
Starting point is 01:29:18 store can money think you need to buy three months of money on the podcast you're about to pay off right here it's always funny when dudes get together and just feel like, if you had two. Taxed taxis, we're at the party, the Jeff Williams party. I was dancing doing my thing. Gavin looks concerned. Yeah. You've come up with a strategy that looks very good.
Starting point is 01:29:35 You're really drunk and you're like, Monty, I'm not attracted to dudes, but if I had a bonafu, it's really trying right now. I'm trying to move, that means, I don't know what that means. And then I have a bonafu, it's really trying right now. I'm trying to know what that means. I'm trying to know what that means. And then I have a boner for you, it's really trying right now. And then you just, your finger, it was like a, you know, it's like twitching, trying to bonify itself, but not functioning. Oh my god.
Starting point is 01:30:01 Oh my god. I genes two titles of it. That's awesome. No, no, no, no, we've all had that. Eventually, you had that conversation. When you get drunk enough, enough and you're just like go on. You're a good guy You don't smell like onions too much. Go on if I had to go on. I was forced to a gunpoint I had to make a choice. Go on. Who would it be? I think part of it was you know, I was dressed particularly well It's something I've been doing recently. Well, you're the mocap suit is, you know
Starting point is 01:30:22 Well, something I've been doing recently. Well, you're the mocap suit is, you know, one. And I was, what the hell are you doing? I was doing my dancing and apparently, you know, the hidden side of Gavin comes out, you know, drinking and partying and rap. It was the dance set in Raptor. I spotted him across the dance floor. He just gravitated towards him. Was that man?
Starting point is 01:30:44 This was Paxies. It had is Paxies? This is Paxies. This podcast is suddenly turned into like a slash fanfiction. This is a, I'm very, I'm extremely happy to be a guy. Guys are disgusting. Like Jack. Let's go ahead and say it. Jack is gross. I was saying that like making out with Jack must be like dunking your face in a tumbley. Like, like, I get to make out with women.
Starting point is 01:31:13 I'm so lucky. I know. No, it's funny, right? You think yourself, how can women possibly do this? And all of the pardee's. And all of the pardee's. Yeah, you want to, you know how to track thisoles. Do you ever say, Ena? Yeah. No, I'm attracted.
Starting point is 01:31:26 Do you want to hear something horrible though? I had someone say something to me one time that stopped me in my tracks. And it's a girl who dates girls. And I said this to her. I said, I would never, I feel bad for you as woman that you have to date guys. You have to go to guys. So I don't even have a choice because I'm lucky. I'm a guy.
Starting point is 01:31:42 I just get to date girls. And that's awesome. She looked me square in the eye and she goes yes But you'll never know what it's like to be a girl and kiss another girl. Oh Fuck you for telling me that that must be every time she does it's like a poster that's like the two things Two things caught me my life but the spit string The twist in a movie.
