Welcome to r slash am I the butthole where OP's girlfriend almost burns his house down.
Am I the butthole for cutting off my sister and her family after what her daughter said?
I'm a 28 year old woman and I invited my sister, who's 40, and my niece, who's
17, over for a pool party that my husband and I were hosting.
We had a few friends over and many brought their kids.
For background, my husband and I don't have kids and we're undecided on whether or not
we want any, but we always find something for us to do where our friends who do have
kids can feel included.
Although we keep things pretty kid friendly, we still always serve alcohol at our get-togethers.
Nothing too crazy, just some beer and seltzers.
My sister wasn't able to stay for long because she had work later in the night.
I told her that since her 17-year-old and her 12-year-old were having fun, that they
could stay the night and I'd take them home in the morning.
She lets them both stay, and about two hours later, my 17-year-old niece tells me that
her mom wants her home and to look for a ride from someone else because I was drinking.
To be clear, I'd only had one drink earlier that day and it was hours ago.
I let the girls leave with my friends since they lived in the same neighborhood.
I texted my sister and asked her why she asked the girls to look for a ride home.
She then told me that my 17 year old niece told both of her parents that everyone at
the party was smoking weed, getting drunk, and offering her both of these substances
and that she felt too uncomfortable to stay.
This was a small get-together of about 15 adults and their kids.
Nobody was smoking and absolutely nobody offered her anything.
Most of my friends had watched her and her siblings growing up, so it's not like these
were strangers to my sister or her kids either.
Everyone there was respectful, including myself.
I work in law enforcement and a rumor like that could cost me my job or even one of the
jobs of one of my guests.
My sister then told me that she doesn't think that what her daughter said was untrue
and that my niece also told her that my friends and I did nothing but talk bad about my sister
behind her back after she left.
Again, another lie.
I was livid to find out that my niece wouldn't be disciplined for spreading such rumors and
that they would even believe something like that.
I was always the first person they would call to control any situation where my niece and her parents would be fighting or she would run away. They would call ME to go pick her
up because they couldn't handle her attitude anymore.
So tell me Reddit, am I the butthole for letting my sister know that I'll be distancing myself
from her and her family? Absolutely not OP. Not only are you not the butthole, but you
should never ever be alone with your niece
ever again.
Because if she's just going to lie about you so casually, then she could destroy your
life with some stupid 17 year old girl rumor.
I'm giving you 0 out of 5 buttholes, I'm giving the niece and her parents 2 out of
5 buttholes.
Am I the butthole for telling my husband that I would have never agreed to have his child
if I knew that he would go back on our agreement?
I'm a 36 year old woman and I'm a neurologist and I absolutely love my patients and my job.
I believe there's no greater honor in life than being able to help others.
The road to my medical degree was not easy and it was paved with many rejections.
I was a troubled teen in high school and I didn't get accepted into any colleges my
senior year.
I had to work my way up, starting with remedial classes at my local community college.
When I finally got into medical school at 26, I was absolutely thrilled.
I met my husband, who's currently 37, in my third year of medical school.
We've been married for four years now.
My husband works in
marketing and I make three times his salary. From the beginning of our relationship, I was very
upfront that I was unsure about having biological children. My dream was always to adopt from foster
care and my husband seemingly understood this. However, after his best friend had a baby boy
last year, he began to really press me on having children.
I was initially very against the idea because I was just beginning my career.
I wanted to wait a few more years before revisiting the topic of children.
In August of last year, I found out that I was unexpectedly pregnant due to a condom
breaking during intercourse.
I was initially considering an abortion, but after many heartfelt conversations with my
husband, we decided to keep the baby.
He said that he would quit his job and stay home until his daughter was old enough to
start preschool.
There were several factors that went into our decision to have him stay home with our
daughter.
One, I make significantly more money than him, so financially it just made more sense.
Two, I'm in the first few years of my career as an attending physician.
After 4 years of medical school and a 4 year residency, I'm just starting to practice on my
own. Whereas my husband has been in his career for 15 years. 3. I was very clear that I had
absolutely zero desire to stay home and be a housewife. I respect stay at home mothers,
but my work is my life and I would go crazy at home all
day.
This just isn't a lifestyle that I want whatsoever.
4.
I'm not comfortable putting my child in daycare until she's old enough to express herself
verbally.
As a victim of a molestation when I was young, I just do not trust people enough to leave
my daughter in the hands of strangers when she would be unable to report abuse or neglect.
Our daughter is 9 weeks old today and I'm preparing to return to my practice in a few
weeks.
This weekend I left my husband alone with our daughter while I attended a medical conference
out of state.
The conference was amazing, but when I returned home my husband began acting weird.
Today when our daughter was napping I pressed him to tell me what was wrong.
He absolutely broke down and said that he doesn't think that he can do this. He expressed
how trapped, alone and overwhelmed he felt all weekend. He now wants me to extend my
maternity leave and is talking about trying to get his job back. This made me freak out
and I asked, well, what do we do with our daughter now? He responded by suggesting that I leave my practice and work from home.
I said absolutely not and he suggested daycare.
At this point, I just lost my cool and screamed, if I knew you were going to back out of your
promise to take care of our daughter, I would have never had your child.
I know I completely overreacted and I would never trade our daughter for anything. I love her so much but I'm so upset with my husband and I'm
not sure how to move forward at this point. Alright, whoa, hold on. Your husband
watched the kid for two days for a whole weekend and that was enough for him to
have this mental breakdown and decide this is way too much for me? I mean yeah
maybe it is
possible he's legitimately overwhelmed after just two days of being a dad but
it sounds to me like he's just overreacting and he wants you to pick up
the slack and be the mom. OP I'm on your side. Not only did you two come to an
agreement beforehand but also OP has medical school debt, presumably. Actually, let's look it up. Average medical school debt.
300,000 a year with interest is typically about 430K.
Yeah, that's a lot of money.
It's like, that kind of debt is like having a house
except there's no house, it's just debt.
So expecting OP to rack up 300, 400K in medical debt
and then just turn around and not work
is bonkers. Well, in any event, OP, your husband needs a reality check because if he's this
freaked out over just two days of being a dad, then you guys are in for a rough 18 years of
parenting. I suggest maybe get a nanny because that seems like the logical compromise here,
but still, OP,
you get 0 out of 5 buttholes.
I'm giving your husband 2 out of 5 buttholes for going back on his promise.
Am I the butthole for calling my girlfriend a dumbass and then taking away her key after
she almost burned down my house?
My girlfriend wanted a pizza.
I have really good frozen pizzas from the local Italian market.
They're made fresh and if you do them up on a pizza stone, they come out perfect.
I've made these for us many times.
It's a simple process.
You take out the pizza stone, you put it in the oven and you let the oven preheat.
You put the pizza on the paddle and slide it onto the hot stone.
Once it's ready, you slide the paddle under the pizza and pull it out. Then
you put the pizza on the carving board and cut it. Easy, right? Nope.
My girlfriend thought that my pizza stone was dirty. It was scorched, not dirty. So
her brilliant idea was to make the pizza on my plastic cutting board because that way she could just take the cutting board out with the oven mitts
and cut the pizza without having to use all the tools.
I got home to see black smoke coming out of my house and my girlfriend on the phone with
911. My dog is not on his leash and he's going crazy. I go to the front door to see
if it's hot inside the house or if I can see the flames. There's no flames and no heat.
I get to the stove and turn it off.
I open the door to let out more smoke and I get my leash on the way out.
The firefighters are there within 5 minutes and the smoke is already dissipating.
They go inside to make sure.
All clear.
Thank god they were there for less than an hour and it was covered by the city.
If they were there for over an hour, I would have been charged for the response.
My oven is ruined though and I have a lot of smoke damage to clean up.
I told my girlfriend that I was glad she was okay, but that she's a moron and that she's
not allowed in my house alone for a while.
I took her key away.
We don't live together.
She has roommates and she likes to come over to my place so she can have a big house to I took her key away. We don't live together. She has roommates and
she likes to come over to my place so she can have a big house to herself on her days
off. She says it's a mistake that anyone could make and that I'm a butthole for calling
her names. Yes, she said those words. She said that it's my fault for not just getting
microwave pizza and having to eat fancy. A mistake anyone could make? Anyone?
Are you sure about that?
I feel like every single person on planet earth over the age of, I don't know, 10
knows that plastic melts.
So I think it's time to replace your oven and replace your girlfriend while you're
at it.
Also, when I was in high school, I briefly volunteered at a fire station because I was
thinking about being a firefighter and I'll always remember a story that one of the firefighters told where this guy he knew,
he responded to a burning building, he opened the door and within moments of opening the
door he just dropped dead.
The reason for that is because there was some kind of certain type of plastic inside the
building and the fire melted the plastic which
created this toxic gas and you know the second the firefighter inhaled this plastic he just
died.
To be super clear, I'm not saying this is all plastic, I'm just saying it was a specific
type of like industrial plastic that caused this toxic gas to happen.
So luckily, your girlfriend didn't also poison the entire household.
You, her, and your dog.
I'm giving you 0 out of 5 buttholes.
I'm giving your dumb girlfriend 2.5 out of 5 buttholes.
Am I the butthole for calling out my sister-in-law in front of everyone when she wouldn't stop
making comments about me trying to be a sexy baby?
What?
I'm a 27 year old woman.
I am a very short woman. 4'9 and under 100 pounds.
I don't want to complain about being small, but there's a lot of other people out there,
especially other women, who won't take us seriously, are judgemental, make snide comments,
assume attraction to us is nefarious, etc. I hear a lot of comments that imply that we're not real women.
I'm used to it and usually let it roll off my back. But there's a new one that's picked up
momentum that I guess stems from a TV show where a girl is putting on a childish act and says,
I'm a very sexy baby in a cutesy voice. And there's a lot more to it that you can just google.
My sister-in-law, Cassie, has picked this up and has been using this against me. I can't
wear a cute outfit without her coming down on me and chiding me for buying into this
whole sexy baby thing when I'm just wearing an outfit. I'm just trying to be me. God
forbid that I wear a shorter skirt or bows or anything that I think is cute.
It's like I'm not allowed to wear cute or sexy things because I'm petite so I'm
automatically seen as trying to be a sexy baby when I'm not.
I've asked Cassie to drop it and she maintains that I'm the one opening myself up to judgement
and I should try to dress my age.
This came to a head last weekend when we were in my auntie's backyard
at the pool. I took my wrap off so I could hang with my feet in the pool with my cousins
and Cassie immediately said, you're a very sexy baby at me and twirled imaginary pig tails.
I raised my voice and said, that's a really weird thing to keep saying. What's your problem with me?
Why do you keep bringing up that I'm small? She started to turn red and she yelled back again that I'm the one choosing to walk
around like a sexy baby.
I said that I'm literally just wearing a bathing suit, a one piece at that, and I asked
her what I should be wearing instead if it's such a problem.
She yelled back that I should dress like a grown adult and I should stop trying to cause
a scene in front of everyone.
I said whatever and just tried to ignore her.
Later on we ended up inside at the same time and she came down on me for calling her out in front of everyone.
I told her to stop trying to make me feel bad for being small, that I didn't choose this body.
She rolled her eyes and told me to grow the f up and that trying to start stuff with her was even
more proof. I'm at a loss here and I'm starting to just not want to be around my family because of
her. It's not enough that I get this garbage from women at work, at the gym and basically anywhere
and now it's coming from my family. Am I the butthole for calling her out or even just,
I don't know, existing in my own body. For context,
Cassie isn't fat, she's just average height. So you may be able to tell from my voice,
but I am not a tiny woman. This is totally new for me. I had no idea that women
criticize women for being short. That's shocking to me. Is it jealousy? Because they're petite?
I really don't know.
Well, in any event, your cousin is clearly hypocritical.
It's okay for her to call you out, but it's not okay for you to call her out.
Yeah, right.
I'm giving you 0 out of 5 buttholes.
I'm giving your cousin 1.5 out of 5 buttholes.
Am I the butthole for refusing to wax a trans woman client because I didn't want to touch male genitalia out of respect for my husband?
I'm a 34 year old woman and I'm a licensed esthetician who owns a small waxing salon.
I have built my business from the ground up and I pride myself on providing a safe and
comfortable environment for all of my clients.
A new client, Alex, booked an appointment for a full Brazilian wax.
When Alex arrived, I realized that she was a trans woman.
As we were discussing the procedure, it became clear that Alex still had male genitalia.
I've always focused my practice on biological women with female genitalia, partly out of
personal comfort and partly out of respect for my husband.
While I'm not transphobic and I support
the LGBTQ community, I've never been comfortable with the idea of touching male genitalia,
even in a professional setting. My husband and I have an understanding and an agreement that I
only perform intimate waxing on biological women. I explained to Alex that I wasn't
comfortable performing the procedure because of my personal boundaries and the agreement that I have with my husband.
I also mentioned that I specialize in waxing biological women and I didn't have the experience
needed to ensure her safety and comfort.
I offered to help her find a professional who specializes in waxing for trans clients,
but she was understandably upset.
She accused me of discrimination and left the salon angrily.
Word got around, and now I'm receiving mixed feedback. Some people say that I should have just
done the wax and that I was being discriminatory, while others understand my personal boundaries
and believe that I was acting in the best interest of both myself and the client.
I genuinely want to provide inclusive services and support all women,
but I also need to
respect my own comfort levels and my relationship.
So am I the butthole?
I mean this seems pretty straightforward.
If you don't want to touch someone else's dong, you shouldn't be required to touch
someone else's dong.
And you know, I can understand why Alex would be frustrated in this situation, but to me,
if I were in Alex's shoes, the second OP said, look, I don't
have the experience or the equipment to make this comfortable for you.
I would have been like, yo, OK, I get it.
No problem.
Because I don't want some ill-equipped, inexperienced person waxing my balls, man.
Full disclosure, I've never gotten a Brazilian wax.
I've never had my balls waxed.
So I don't know what I'm talking about here, but it seems to me
that waxing male parts would be way, way different from waxing female parts just because, man, how do
you even wax balls safely? Anyways, OP, I'm giving you zero out of five buttholes. That was r slash
