Our next reddit post comes from r slash true off my chest. I'm a 28 year old guy and I sexually harassed my colleague who's, into having a nervous breakdown. I'm a new medical resident at a large hospital in America. One of our more senior residents, Clarissa, is really cute, but she happens to be a stuck-up power tripper. She's the kind of person who will give you grief for not being on time for work, because
Starting point is 00:01:00 to her, on time means 15 minutes early. She's not all that popular among the other residents either. The consensus is that her stubborn, grouchy attitude presents a threat to patient safety. However, the hospital refuses to fire her. So we've just resorted to taking the piss out of her. We oftentimes talk about how fuckable she is and objectify her while she's standing right in front of us.
Starting point is 00:01:26 And when Clarissa and I are in the break room together, I'll be searching up her swimsuit pictures on Facebook with the screen right in her view. I also once shoved a pen down her shirt, but that's the only physical thing that I've done. The only genuinely messed up thing that we've done to Clarissa happened a few weeks ago. She was hanging out with two other residents, both 29 year old men, at their house. And those male residents somehow forced her to take off her shirt and strip down to her bra and tight jeans.
Starting point is 00:01:56 They took pictures of her in suggestive positions. One photo was of her lying face down on the ground, with one of the male residents kneeling down and massaging her naked back. Those two residents shared the photos with me. In all the photos, Clarissa was crying, so I only had them on my phone for a few days before I deleted them. They went too far with this, but I wasn't involved in it whatsoever. Recently, Clarissa pulled me aside after our shift ended.
Starting point is 00:02:23 It was just the two of us in the room. She had a bit of a meltdown and started sobbing and telling me about how messed up our behavior is and how she doesn't understand why it's happening. She even told me that she doesn't want to die. I started feeling bad for her. I knew that we were bothering her, but I didn't think that she would cry over it. I don't think she has to worry about her colleagues killing her though. That part is ridiculous and dramatic. Her Facebook account is now private, and I've noticed that nowadays, whenever she's in the presence of a male doctor,
Starting point is 00:02:54 she's always got another female doctor accompanying her. Even so, I've noticed that Clarissa seems to always be on the verge of crying and she constantly stutters and sweats heavily. She makes mistakes almost constantly and I fear that one day she's going to accidentally kill someone. If I let the hospital know about her, they're going to find out all about what I and my fellow residents have been up to. I know that I've hurt her, but I've worked hard my entire life to be in this position. Okay, full disclosure, I don't know any doctors or nurses, so I'm stereotyping here.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I don't really know too much about what medical professionals are like, but my assumption has always been that if you're going into the medical field, you have a certain amount of like, just empathy. Care for fellow human beings. After all, doctors have to swear the Hippocratic oath, first do no harm. So you know, I sort of assumed that if you're going to be a doctor, you're going to be kind of a nice person just inherently a little bit. But no, OP is shattering my stereotypes here.
Starting point is 00:03:56 He's like, okay, well, she's kind of a stickler for coming in 10 minutes late. So let's harass her to the point of breaking down and being terrified every day of her life. Yo, these two things are not even close to equal. So let's harass her to the point of breaking down and being terrified every day of her life. Yo, these two things are not even close to equal. It's honestly really horrifying to think that OP and those other male residents he mentioned are in charge of patients' health. Am I the butthole for being disgusted by my wife after she asked our son if he wants to
Starting point is 00:04:22 R-word her? Ten years ago, my wife and I adopted a boy who's now 16. He's our only child, and he used to be such a sweet kid up until last year. This was when he first started acting out. He has a seriously disturbing infatuation with his mother, and he started to act out on it with lots of staring and ogling. This year was the first time that he did anything beyond that. My wife has let me know that he pulls at her bra every now and then,
Starting point is 00:04:51 and she now refuses to be in the same room as our son without me present as well. We've installed locks on our bedroom doors and our closet door so that when my wife is changing, she can lock herself in the closet. I keep an eye out on our son constantly and it's been a while since he's acted out physically on my wife. A week ago, my wife and I sat down with our son and we started talking about his troubling, problematic behavior around her. During this moment, my wife started crying and she pulled up her shirt to wipe her tears away.
Starting point is 00:05:23 We saw our son staring at my wife's body during this time. And it freaked my wife out enough that she started addressing him directly, asking him what the F all this is. She asked him straight up whether or not he wants to R-word her. And she used the R-word explicitly. When she asked him this disturbing question, I shut her down. Our son was dead silent for the entire meeting. It's been a week since my wife and I talked to our son, and it's all still the usual routine. My wife needs me to be with her whenever she's with our son.
Starting point is 00:05:56 We keep the bedroom door locked whenever we're there, and I've been giving my wife the silent treatment for asking our son if he wants to R-word her. Actually, because of what she said, I once couldn't bring myself to protect her when she was around our son and I just left her alone with him. A important edit, I misspoke when I wrote the title. After some reflection, I realized that I'm not actually disgusted by my wife. Rather, I'm disgusted by the circumstances that have led to my wife confronting our son. Also, after the one moment where I left my son and my wife out of my sight, I later reconciled
Starting point is 00:06:31 with her and asked her if anything went wrong while she and our son were together. She said no, so I'm just saying all this for what it's worth. OP, your son clearly needs therapy, and it sounds like you do too because the fact that you left her alone with him kind of makes it seem to me like you're trying to punish your wife. Am I the butthole for asking my husband to punish his daughter who was very disrespectful to my mother and tried to humiliate her? I am a 43 year old woman married to my husband who's 44.
Starting point is 00:07:02 My husband has a daughter, Sarah, who's 15 from a previous relationship. I have two sons, 16 and 14, and together the two of us have a 6-year-old daughter. My mom was visiting yesterday and she told us that she's inviting us to their vacation home in France for two weeks this summer alongside the extended family. The invitation is for me, my husband and their grandchildren, so not Sarah. My mother-in-law told Sarah that they did try to include her, but there simply isn't enough room in the house for one extra girl given the number of children in the extended family. Sarah didn't say anything and was quiet all day. We noticed that she was upset about this, so my mom decided to go talk to her and maybe offer her a gift card of
Starting point is 00:07:41 her choice or buy something nice for herself when the family was away. Sarah said, If you feel guilty, go confess to a priest. And when my mom tried to explain that she doesn't feel guilty but wants to do something nice for me, Sarah told her to, Take your something nice and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. While her younger brothers were around and could hear. The boys burst into laughter and my mom felt humiliated. When I told what happened to my husband, he said that he would talk to her and later he told me that he did. I asked what the punishment was and he said nothing because it's just a typical teenager's reaction. He didn't even make her apologize to my mom. I asked him to reconsider given how rude she was and my husband said that I'm blowing this out of proportion and that my mom should just get over it.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Am I the butthole for not letting it go and demanding more consequences for her actions? Also, in the comments, OP clarified that Sarah's mom passed away from cancer. Man, I just feel really sorry for Sarah. She has a dad who would happily abandon her to go on vacation, she has grandparents who don't want to invite her to things, and she has a mom who's obsessed with punishing her. Anyone in Sarah's situation would be pissed off that they got left behind while the rest of the family went off on this cool exotic French vacation.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Like why can't Sarah share a bed with her half-sister? Huh? Sisters sleep in the same bed all the time. I mean, I can tell you why. It's because they intentionally wanted to exclude her. If they really wanted to, they could just get an air mattress or a sofa or buy someone an extra room at a hotel, but they just don't want Sarah because she's not technically family.
Starting point is 00:09:17 Our next Reddit post is from r slash regretful parents. Am I the butthole for putting peppers in my girlfriend's food to get her used to spice? My girlfriend is 23 and I'm 25. I'm a huge spice guy. I love the feeling and I seek out hot foods. I eat a lot of Thai, Korean and Indian food just for the spice. Some Latin things too. My girlfriend hates this, but we don't really eat together.
Starting point is 00:09:40 She doesn't even like the smell, so she's always eating in the other room. Before, we used to eat at the table together, but now she just scarfs her food down and then leaves. This always hurts my feelings. She asked me to not eat such hot foods around her, but I don't get how I'm supposed to do that. It's literally almost all that I eat. I drink normal things, but that's not food.
Starting point is 00:10:03 I don't really like normal foods. A few days ago, I thought that I would try to get her used to spicy foods. I've talked to her about it and she didn't really want to try, but my girlfriend has always been the type to say no but actually want to do something just because she's shy. She just needs a little push in 98% of situations. So I just took it upon myself. I started to sprinkle in tiny bits of pepper
Starting point is 00:10:25 or hot sauce into her food and watched her eat it just to start. She didn't really seem to even notice or mind, so I thought that I was in the clear. So I start putting even more spice into her food and it's going great. She drank more during her meals, but that happens when you learn to eat spice. The other day I convinced her to eat ramen with me. She doesn't eat my ramen because it's too hot but I said that I'd make hers after mine. She said okay and I did what I needed to do. I made hers and I put the spice in. She immediately didn't like it. She started coughing and spit it out. I barely put in any spice at all. She started yelling at me and honestly, I got kinda pissed off. I was just trying to help.
Starting point is 00:11:08 She was at the sink rinsing her mouth out, over-exaggerating. We ended up arguing and she called her sister and is staying with her parents. I got a bunch of angry texts later from her sister and my mom, but I don't think I was in the wrong. I didn't expect her to not be able to handle the smallest amount of spice that I put in. I just want her to eat meals with me and not complain when I cook in the kitchen. It hurts my feelings that she won't even try. In my opinion, she's over-exaggerating. It isn't even bad.
Starting point is 00:11:36 I texted a friend of mine about it when I calmed down a bit, and he said that I'm all good. He agreed that I was just trying to help her out. You can't go your entire life not eating spicy foods. Most of the world has spicy foods. She just wants to argue for no reason. Man, I love that this guy is so convinced that he can't have normal non-spicy meals with his girlfriend, but his girlfriend absolutely must have spicy meals with him. So he's mad at her because she's not compromising, but then he refuses to compromise. What a winner. Am I the butthole for sending an email to the rest of the family about my sister-in-law's behavior on vacation? My husband and I decided to bring our two kids to Disney World for four days, now that they're old enough to appreciate it. My husband and I
Starting point is 00:12:20 are not in the best of shape, so we decided to invite his sister and her husband along with us and we had two separate rooms. We assumed that we would spend our time in the parks together because after all, it was a family vacation. The first day in the park, we all did a few attractions together. But then, when we went to bring the kids to meet some characters, my sister-in-law said that she and her husband had other things in the park they wanted to do, and they would meet back up with us. We didn't see them until dinner after we watched fireworks together and then went back
Starting point is 00:12:51 to the hotel. The second day, when we went to Epcot, they stuck around with us until the afternoon, but then split up with us again to drink around the world. When we met up with them for dinner, they were clearly very tipsy in front of the kids. Very mature. When we got back to the hotel that night, I knocked on their door after the kids were asleep. I asked them if they were going to spend any time with the family on this vacation. And I told them that running around an amusement park with kids all day is exhausting and we could use help. My sister-in-law claimed the time that they were spending with
Starting point is 00:13:25 us was enough, but they wanted to do their own thing too. She made a rude comment that she didn't take days off work to be our babysitter. The next two days, we didn't speak to them at all. They did their own thing and we did ours with our kids. We didn't see them again until the flight home, which was awkward. I was so upset that they ruined the experience for our kids, who were looking forward to spending time with their aunt, that when I got home, I wrote an email to our immediate family about the experience. And at the end, I told them this was the reason we'd be going low contact with my sister-in-law. I included my sister-in-law on the email, sent it, and went to sleep.
Starting point is 00:14:03 I woke up to a ton of angry texts from my husband's family calling me ridiculous. I just assumed that she would spend time with family on family vacation, but clearly she doesn't value family. I love how OP uses going low contact as a threat, like, okay, so that means I won't have to be used as free babysitting labor? Alright, bye! I could sort of see OP having a point if she paid for their vacation, but no, they were paying for their own vacations, so why should they be used as free labor?
