Welcome to R-Slash, a podcast where I read the best post from across Reddit.
Today's subreddit is R-Slash Choosing Beggars, where someone wants a sex slave but without
any of the sex.
Review, one star.
I came to their store to quickly get my fender adjusted, something that takes less than a minute,
like getting your chains oiled or wheels pumped.
The staff snarled at me and demanded that I pay for the service.
If they were
interested in good customer relations instead of every petty dime, I would have come back.
Guess I'm never coming back. Dude, how was this a threat? They lost a customer who
were fused to pay, so... okay, bye! Down in the comments, we have this story from Hermes
Cat. When I worked at fast food, a woman who was a regular, we dubbed Crazy Lady would come
in every day for one free drink.
We offered free small drinks for seniors.
And occasionally, she would demand a chicken sandwich off the dollar menu for free.
She would throw a fit if she had to pay, so they often just gave it to her.
When management finally put their foot down for good and told her the
drink would always be free for seniors, but any food must be paid for no exceptions, she threw a fit
again and literally stuttered these exact words to me. How about I just stop coming here then?
As a shy 17 year old with a manager behind me for support, I just kind of blurred it out,
you literally never buy anything here.
She just angrily grabbed her drink and sat down. But from then on, every time she came in,
she'd aggressively ask whoever was working if she could still get a free drink for seniors.
And we'd always give it to her because that's literally the restaurant's policy. Seniors drink
for free. She was the worst. Hello, are you available over the Easter weekend?
Hi, who is this?
A potential and slightly upset customer.
I messaged you on your Facebook
to ask if you were free for dog sitting,
but you didn't reply,
and I really need a sitter,
so I found your Instagram.
Next time, you should really check your Facebook.
Ha, ha, ha.
Oh, sorry,
but I posted on my Facebook page that
I wouldn't be checking it for a while since I've gotten super busy with school. Well not my business
but here's a tip. If you want to be successful you can't just ignore your customers and take random
breaks. Anyway I need an in-home sitter for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, he's a very friendly dog. And then the choosing beggar sends a picture of the dog.
That's a super cute puppy, but I'm sorry, I'm really not free to come in and dogs sit
on those days.
If you really need somebody, then I can board him in my house with my dog.
He's a husky and really good with other dogs.
You can drop him off on Friday and pick him up on Sunday or Monday.
I can't drop him off, you need to pick up. I said we'll be away for the weekend.
Okay, where are you located? I live at such and such.
It'll be extra to pick them up, but this will be your total.
$15 pick up fee, $45 bucks a day, which includes feeding, water, and three walks, and then a $15 drop
off fee. The costs are slightly higher because it's last minute.
Could you also fill out the application on my Facebook page before we finalize anything?
It's just basic information, the dogs overall health, temperament, feeding instructions, etc.
Are you serious? $165 for three days? I could just buy him a dog ticket and take him with me to Florida.
These are my raids and you should have been able to see them on my Facebook page.
Like I said, it's $45 instead of $40, because it's last minute, and I need to make accommodations
in my plans to ensure your dog has a pleasant stay and gets everything he needs.
My daughter is sick, and this might be your last Easter.
We want to go to Florida, and I just want to be a good mother.
You'll understand when you become a mother yourself.
$165 is way too much to just watch a dog.
I'll pay $10 for both pickup and drop-off and $20 per day.
Final offer.
I'm sorry about your situation, but these are still my rates.
You're offering me $95 less than what I asked for.
You're a child.
You don't need the money.
I'm a single hardworking mother.
Do you even understand what that is?
Your business is unethical and frankly disgusting.
I'm a full-time student who does dog walking and dog sitting on the side.
This isn't a full-time business.
Besides, I don't
board dogs, but I'm offering it to accommodate you. I would appreciate it if we could remain
civil. Oh, like it's so much work. This is my daughter I'm talking about. Does she look
happy or healthy? No, but I want her to be happy. If you don't do this for me, I'll post on your
Facebook page and make sure everyone knows what kind of person you are.
I can't even believe this is happening right now.
Are you an actual grown woman threatening a child for trying to charge money for a service?
They are much better dog boarders out there than you who only charge 15 bucks a day.
My mother is sick, she has...
Alright, alright you got me there for a second OP.
My mother is sick, she has stage 9 cancer.
I just want to be able to provide her treatment.
I just want to be a good daughter, is that too much to ask for?
Please, I'll tell you what, I'll give you a deal, instead of $165, I'll charge you 200. Please help cure my
mother. I'm not a charity lol. And then after this, the Choosing Beggar posts on OPs Facebook
page and gives a one star review. Review, one star. Warning, never, ever use them. I am
absolutely disgusted at the quality of service. I am a single mother trying to pay for
my daughter's last trip to Florida and I need to give my dog to someone. Children these days are
disgusting trying to fleece money off everybody. Did your mother not rage you better? Then...
Then the choosing beggar posts a picture of her daughter crying. Yeah, I know. That's what's wrong with all these kids these days.
All these gin zers out there,
wanting money for their goods and services rendered.
Kids these days are just greedy jerks.
Didn't your parents raise you to work for free?
And I love that she ends this long conversation by saying,
I'm not a charity low like, yeah, that's the point.
Oh, ha, ha, ha like yeah, that's the point. Alright, so this next post was posted on a kink website.
I'm seeking a domestic slave that requires little reciprocation.
This will not be kinky.
You won't be cleaning my apartment naked nor licking my feet clean.
You'll be cooking me healthy meals, dropping them off, picking
up and doing my laundry, dropping my laundry off, be my uber when available, or do other chores
for me. I'm not going to purposefully age, humiliate or reprimand you just because it's
what you're looking for. I'm looking for someone with whom I can be authentic and is
simply happy to serve. Oh my god, all this work and you don't even
get to get your rocks off? Come on, man, have some sympathy. It my God, all this work, and you don't even get to get your rocks off?
Come on, man, have some sympathy.
It's like, oh my God, I do all this work.
I cook your meals, I do your laundry,
I drive you around,
and you won't even let me lick your feet clean.
What a ripoff.
It's like, dude, you're not kinky, you're just lazy.
Also, down in the comments,
we hit this story from Odd Window.
My friends used to have a naked guy who cleaned her house.
She basically had to revile and humiliate him.
This was years ago.
Men's reaction to hearing this was always, nope.
Women would always say, oh, that's totally effing disgusting.
Wait, did you say clean my house?
Tell me more.
And then beneath that, we had this toy from Feminist Lovely.
I met a guy on Tinder and I just wanted to passionately hug,
but this guy wanted to start by cleaning my house and washing my feet.
He got me interested when he said cleaning,
but then he expanded on his offer by saying that I could use his body.
I said, yeah, we can passionately hug, and he was like,
no, no, you can make money off of me. And I was like, by being your boss, I don't understand.
This guy wanted me to pimp him out to other men. He was looking for a pimp. I said, regardless
of the legality of this, I am not comfortable with a, but thank you for asking.
So I unmatched him and sadly I did not get the promise cleaning.
Looking for a cleaning crew?
I need someone to come out to my house to give me an estimate.
Yes, my house is on the bigger side, but expecting 40 bucks an hour cash is just ass
a nine.
I was told that I'd be charged $600 for the first time cleaning and then $350 every other
week.
No thank you.
I think what upsets me is that I have no problem paying $20 an hour cash, aka tax-free,
which I think is totally fair for someone to clean, and that's still not enough.
I'm a very honest and reasonable person.
Please, if there's anyone out there who's looking
for work in his rational, logical, and like-minded, it's said to my way. I'm easy to work with
and I'm not picky, I just don't feel like being ripped off. Thank you.
Down in the comments, another which points out that the prices that's using Beger as
complaining about are actually pretty reasonable. I work for myself as a cleaner in an expensive US market.
I charge 40 bucks an hour. That's 30% taxes, and it also covers a time that I spend going from
job to job, the time I spend coordinating the jobs and marketing myself, and also the cleaning supplies.
There are a lot of hidden costs to cleaning. 40 bucks an hour isn't some luxurious amount for
a cleaner to make, it's just a reasonable and livable amount.
And what makes this post so tacky is that this choosing beggar has a bigger house, which
ostensibly means that they're on the wealthier side.
So you can afford a bigger house, and you can also afford the luxury of having people
come clean your house, but you can't afford the prices that are a fair market value?
Also, just a pro life tip here. Maybe it's not the
best idea to make posts on Facebook describing how you want to commit tax fraud. This next
post was posted to nextdoor.com. Can someone give me a ride to work early morning hours and
pick me up after work in exchange for gas money Monday through Friday? I need to go to work
and a lift or an Uber is going to cost me a hundred to two hundred dollars a week round trip to get to work at home.
I can't afford that. My fiance is in the hospital with COVID and blood sugar issues.
I would need someone to take me to work and then pick me up afterwards.
My work hours are 5.30 a.m. to 5.55 p.m.
Pick me up around 6.05 p.m.
No smokers of any kind. I'm allergic to the smell.
I'll give you gas money at the end of each week, $20.
I need someone who's reliable and dependable, I don't want to resign from my job, and then
the other people in her neighborhood respond to her post.
I'm not trying to be rude or insensitive, and I should probably just move on.
But for 20 bucks a week, you want people to get up at O-Dark 30 and drive you to and from
work 5 days a week?
That's at least one hour a day, so at least 5 hours a week, if not more.
So you're paying this person 4 dollars an hour, which includes gas?
And lift would cost you 100 dollars?
Why do you value a private person's time so much less than what an underpaid Lyft driver
would make?
I'm just wondering, and I'm hoping that you would wonder the same.
Then someone replies, I agree, that's not enough money with the way the gas costs.
Because I can't afford $100 a week for the peanut salary I make working as a bus monitor
for kids.
Really, it's only
a 15 minute drive from my house.
Um, maybe by a bicycle? Not trying to be rude, just practical. I have a 3 wheel bike that
I don't ride, it just sits in our garage. Then that's transportation that you can use
to go to work. It may not be what you want, but it's available. It's time to dust it off.
Then amazingly, a nice cooperative person actually replies.
I can do that if you have your vaccine card.
I don't let anyone in my car unless they wear a mask and have COVID vaccinations.
Can you afford $35 a week?
I'm not vaccinated, sorry.
I've had COVID went and it was really bad.
And I refuse to get vaccinated.
I wear a mask though, no problem.
No way, for 20 bucks a week, what are you thinking?
And this is why I really didn't want to rejoin next door.
Because of all the rude and hate for remarks from people who don't care about other people's
lives and family's medical problems.
My fiance is a school teacher.
He used to drive me back and forth to work last year when school was in session.
But he got really sick with COVID and blood sugar problems and now he's fighting for
his life.
He's currently hooked up to a ventilator and an insulin drip and now a dialysis machine
because he's lost his kidneys.
But of course, for the rude people, you don't care for people like us.
I don't need to write anymore, thanks anyways.
Thank you for all the nice people who did post nice supportive comments.
I'm sorry your other half is sick, and I hope you get better soon.
But you're going off on us because we said that $20 wasn't enough is ridiculous.
You're asking people who live 20 to 25 minutes away from you to pick you up by 5am,
which means we have to get up at 4.15 to pick you up by 5am, two times a day, five days a week.
You should have just asked for volunteer rides. You can't get mad at people who don't want
to waste time and money driving back and forth for 20 bucks a week, and then bringing to your
attention that you're giving a low ball offer. One little detail that I couldn't help notice
about this story is that she'll give you 20 bucks a week
at the end of each week.
So basically she's expecting strangers
to front that gas money.
Also lady, you've got a bicycle,
so just ride your bicycle.
That was our slash choosing beggars.
