Starting point is 00:01:21 This is Shenanigans. And now, here's your host, Sheena Shea. This is Shenanigans. And now, here's your host, Sheena Shea. What's up, guys? We are back in the studio doing some Shenanigans with two guests who Jen and I have been talking about having in here for months. Very excited. Since Sundance. So excited. We have the Arquettes, David and Christina. What's up? Welcome to
Starting point is 00:01:50 Shenanigans. Thank you. Thanks for having us. I'm so excited. I've been looking forward to doing this one forever. His life is definitely a shenanigan for sure. He defines shenanigans. I like shenanigans. I've been trying to less shenanigans in my life. I'm trying to keep my shenanigans. I like shenanigans. I've been trying to
Starting point is 00:02:05 less shenanigans in my life. I'm trying to keep my shenanigans in order. So we all hung out at Sundance. That's where you guys met. I know we've met before a couple times. I think the first time I met you,
Starting point is 00:02:21 I was at Bootsy Bellows and I was in the photo booth and you hopped in our photo. And I wish I could find that. I was like looking through this old box and I met you, I was at Bootsy Bellows, and I was in the photo booth, and you hopped in our photo. And I wish I could find that. I was, like, looking through this old box, and I'm like, where is that? It was probably, like, I don't know, six years ago or something. You know my favorite story, though? Are you allowed to tell it? It's James Kennedy at Bootsy Bellows.
Starting point is 00:02:37 He was coming out. Do tell. Yes. He's coming out. It was just a, oh, you're a legend. He's like, you're a legend. I've got to go. I've got to get out of here.
Starting point is 00:02:49 He was trying to be good. I think he was trying to be like his good James Kennedy. He wasn't drinking too much and he knew the dark side was about to come. Yeah. So he left. So he was good James Kennedy. But he called me a legend. I'm surprised he didn't also say that himself was like a legend, you know?
Starting point is 00:03:04 Yeah. Maybe that's what he said, but you didn't hear say that himself was like a legend, you know? Maybe that's what he said, but you didn't hear it. I am a legend. You are a legend, actually, Christina. I'm a legend for keeping up with you. Yes, exactly. Love it. Janet and I were literally FaceTiming with James last week, and he's like, I'm James Canty.
Starting point is 00:03:23 We're just like, okay, we know James. We're like, you're getting blocked for a few hours. You have to give him a timeout every once in a while but then he always comes around again. He's great. That's what she does to me too. That's what I do to him too. By the way, like the fact that he's going to refer to himself in the third person is amazing. Oh my gosh. Like, what was that
Starting point is 00:03:38 basketball player, Jason Terry for the Mavericks? He used to call himself the Jet. And when you would interview him, he'd be like, the Jet had a really good game today. It's like the same james kennedy that's how lala is too oh god all the time i call james jfk now because he's always like i'm james fucking kennedy jfk is a good one i dj jfk is amazing so back in the day when i was still married uh shay and james were working on music together and their group name together was Shea F. Kennedy. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Wait, I have to know what happened to those pictures that you guys had that were in your place. Did you burn them? Oh, the canvases? Yeah, like all the pictures of your ex. Oh, you gave them to fans? So I've donated one to the Museum of Broken Relationships in New York. And then two I sent to fans.
Starting point is 00:04:26 And the other two I still have in storage because one is just me in the wedding dress and it's just such a gorgeous photo. My aunt made that dress. She spent I don't even know how many hundred hours on making the dress and each individual pearl and it's just such a gorgeous photo. I don't know that I'll ever be
Starting point is 00:04:41 in a wedding dress again so I kept that one. And then the one with all of my bridesmaids. it was just like a really cute action shot. I'm like, well, there's one that I'm not friends with anymore. But for the most part, I'm like, these girls are going to be in my life forever. And I just wanted to keep that, but I would never hang it up again. It's just chilling at public storage. Wait, what was the first year that Vanderpump started? What year was it? So we shot our pilot October 2011. See, I knew it. I had both pregnancies
Starting point is 00:05:07 and met you and married you all within Vanderpump rules of the season. Yeah. I know it was part of my lifeline. Yeah, because you guys started dating in what, 2011? 2010 about, but 2011-10 Yeah, so then we shot our first season summer of 2012
Starting point is 00:05:23 and we were on air January 13. So it took like a year and a half almost to get on air, which felt like so long. I guess it was like a year and like three months. But it felt like forever because we had filmed the pilot so long before it aired. And by the time it aired, so much had changed in over a year. But yeah, it's been on forever. Literally the best show of all time. It really is. It's history making. It really is. the best show of all time it really is it's
Starting point is 00:05:45 history making it really is you love it too you get really into it he gets super into it i i kind of got him on the bandwagon of it i said you have to watch this show because i i don't know there's not a lot of shows that i know religiously i'm gonna watch yeah vanderpump rules is one of them and then i also find you guys all to be, while you're wild and nuts and crazy and like crazy stuff happens, there's also like a really sweet endearing part of it, right? Totally.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Like everybody is like really attractive and like Melrose placed on LA. It is a really good looking cast. But you guys are all like genuinely seem to be with the exception of a few maybe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Like Jack. Friends. He's like a real friend. Yeah. But also like cool, nice people. They're like a family. They all pick on each other,
Starting point is 00:06:26 but then if anybody else picks on them, they're like, no, no, no, only I can beat up my brother. You can't. They're like, I'm that vibe. They're like, I can be mean to each other, but they stand up for each other all the time. I mean, no matter what,
Starting point is 00:06:35 like however much we're fighting or whoever's screwing over each other, their best friend's ex-boyfriend or whatever, you know, at the end of the day, we all started the show together. It wouldn't be the same without any one of us and at the it just it's i think like a mutual respect that we all still have for each other because like i said i mean if we weren't crazy and you know fighting
Starting point is 00:06:55 we don't have a show but at the end of the day we do all love each other deep down i have one question though how come vanderpump likes you the most? Like, you seem to be her favorite throughout every season always. I mean, don't you guys like me the most? Yes, of course. But I'm just curious, like, what is it about you that she just adores and has never really been upset at, right? Really? No.
Starting point is 00:07:18 I think the only time we ever, like, had, like, a little bit of a tiff was, like, season one when Brandy was coming in. Oh, yeah, yeah. And she sent me home multiple times and back then i mean if i had five hundred dollars to my name that was like a good week so i needed every single shift and getting sent home twice because of brandy and once because of leanne rhymes i'm like okay that's you know like a thousand dollars that i need to pay my rent that i'm not getting because like just put me in a different section like don't put me in a different section.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Like, don't put me on her table. But that was the only time we really ever had an issue. And that was a long time ago. But I think because I started at Villa Blanca the second day they were open. So this was before Housewives. Like I knew Lisa and I was always just, I'm very anal and a perfectionist where I just, I have to be the best at no matter what job it is. If it's busing tables, I'm going to be the best busser.
Starting point is 00:08:08 So when I worked at Villa Blanca, I think she just saw what a hard worker I was and I made really good tips. Her daughter and I are birthday twins, so that definitely helped. And we were really good friends. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding. But I just, I always, I know how to work with Lisa. Yes, ma'am. Smile, nod, anything else.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Absolutely. Know how she likes her tea. That's amazing. And I just, I don't talk back to her. And if I do, she's like, stop being so defensive. And I'm like, no, Lisa, I'm not being defensive. I'm just trying to stop. I'm like, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Smile and nod. I got it. Where some of the others, like Stassi and Krista. Yeah, they get combative. Very combative with her. So I just, I don i don't do that you know don't bite the hand yeah oh i got all my questions and i'm so excited these are all things i've been wondering yeah and what happened to rob where's rob oh god who knows we call him the doorman now yeah we don't give him a first name anymore he's just doorman okay you know he might need a job you run boots
Starting point is 00:09:05 here right you might need a doorman we definitely need it i think he used to do the door at boots oh man oh i think so i think you're right or was he a promoter i mean uh one of the two yeah so i met him 2006 at Joseph's on Monday nights. The doorman. His sister's the model, right? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Yeah. He has two claims to fame. His sister and Sheena. He holds on very tightly. Behind every... Well, he's not a great man. Whether he's Amber's sister or Sheena's ex-boyfriend. I'm like, good to be known as that, huh?
Starting point is 00:09:40 I love it. Yeah. So I actually ran into him at stagecoach with his new girlfriend oh at neon carnival i was by myself when i saw them and i was like oh my god oh my god i can't like i just i think i manifested that because going into stagecoach a few friends saw some like posts on social media like just so you know rob's gonna be there and i'm like oh yeah like what are the chances i'm gonna run into him thousands and Thousands and thousands of people there. But I just started manifesting. I was like, oh, my God, I just I have a feeling I'll be like by myself because I always end
Starting point is 00:10:10 up wandering off by myself at festivals. I'm like, that'll be the moment when I run into them. And everyone's like, stop saying that or it's going to happen. And it did. I lost my friend. There's like no service. And I turn and I see him with his girlfriend. I was like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Oh, my God. I was like, I knew this was going to gonna happen so they didn't see me yet I like bolt behind like the bleachers or like the dj booths run into my hottest guy friend who he used to be so insecure about after we broke up like he's a good friend of mine we've never made out nothing but he's technically like my type yeah and so doorman was always so insecure about this guy my friend kenny amazing and i see him and i was like he always thought there was something going on i was like oh my god oh my god i was like ex-boyfriend new girlfriend he's like need me to be your boyfriend i was like yeah so he just like put his arms around me we just like walked
Starting point is 00:10:58 right by went to like the vip area i did not have my wristband yet because we just like walked in this all happened we We got separated. Someone to get their wristbands. Someone to go check where the table was and I'm like I got separated. So after that happens I'm like okay dramatic like trying to just get up to the VIP area. That doorman was like no no no wristband. I'm like
Starting point is 00:11:17 hold on. I'm like yeah I got it. I'm like trying to like pull my sleeve up. He's like wristband. I'm like hold on. I'm trying like don't make me look stupid. Don't kick me out of my house. Yeah you can't walk away. That's like, wristband. I'm like, hold on. I'm trying. Don't make me look stupid. Don't kick me out of my bed. You can't walk away. That's like getting in an argument, yelling, leaving the house and then having to come back. So thankfully they saw me. They were clearly uncomfortable. They exited right away
Starting point is 00:11:36 and then I was like, oh, sorry, I don't have the right wristband. I'll be right back. And then it was fine. Never saw him again. By the way, in this age, you do realize that his girlfriend probably knows everything about you. Because you can see everything on social media. Literally, I think. So one thing that I don't know if people will believe it, but I am not an Instagram stalker whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Whether I'm in a relationship, whether it's a new guy I'm interested in, anything. I Instagram stalk Jax. Do you? We've tried to meet up a couple times. No, this is a real, hold on, hold on. This is a really true story. So we have a cabin in Lake Arrowhead, which there's like nothing to do in Lake Arrowhead. And we had our kids.
Starting point is 00:12:14 It's raining. It's snowing. Literally, there's nothing to do, right? There's no activities. And David's like, oh, Jax and Brittany are coming. I'm like, what? They're like, Jax and Brittany. They invited them on.
Starting point is 00:12:25 They ended up are coming. I'm like, what? They're like, Jax and Brittany. I invited them up. They ended up not coming. I would have felt so bad if they had because it was like kids and that was all there was to do. Yeah. We got to like break them in. He's got to start like. Brittany loves kids.
Starting point is 00:12:35 She was like, you guys go have fun. We'll babysit. Oh, God. Maybe we should invite them over then. Yeah. She loves kids, loves to babysit. That's just like. They're getting married this weekend.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Yeah. In where? In Kentucky. I guess my invitation got lost in the mail. She loves kids, loves to babysit. That's just like- They're getting married this weekend. Yeah. In where? In Kentucky. I guess my invitation got lost in the mail. Thanks a lot, Jax. I'm going to tell them. Yep. I'm going to be like, you know who could have been there?
Starting point is 00:12:54 Oh, that's so fun. And you're in- Are you in the wedding? I am. Yeah, yeah. Cool. Yeah. So, I mean, it's literally going to be like the royal reality wedding.
Starting point is 00:13:02 It's at a castle. I can't wait. Amazing. In Kentucky? Yeah. The Lexington, Kentucky castle. Oh, yeah. going to be like the royal reality wedding at a castle in in Kentucky the Lexington Kentucky cast oh yeah no I think we're gonna let that I think maybe people has like an exclusive but um there's someone really cool marrying them yeah but I'll just write it down for you because – I figured.
Starting point is 00:13:26 That's what I was going to say. That's amazing. So exciting, right? That's amazing. Yeah. So that's going to be so much fun. Oh, I guess I wasn't good enough to get ordained, Jax. Thanks a lot.
Starting point is 00:13:37 We had a friend become an ordained minister and he married us and it was so like random and totally different. It was fun. That's fun. How did you two meet? On an 80s boat party. Oh, that's awesome. Everybody always assumes because I was on Entertainment Tonight that I interviewed him,
Starting point is 00:13:52 which I did. But I was like, oh, whatever, when I interviewed him. And we didn't have like a real exchange. And so on this 80s boat party, our two best friends both had us come. And it was like the, no offense to the guy because i love him so much but but it was like not my scene like you know what i mean like i tried to jump off the boat and swim to shore a few times just like i literally did to get away from him um and david's kind of an awkward personality if you don't know him he can be really quiet or shy and i'm totally the
Starting point is 00:14:21 opposite so we did not instantly click and it was actually really awkward. And so David left. He's like, oh, I'm not going to hang out with this group. Yeah, she's giving the cold shoulder plate heart again. I was like, I'm out of here. I had some friends that were Marines down in Newport. But anyways, I was like, oh, he's cute. Bring him back.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Oh, yeah. She called. I had a friend and she had a friend and my friend called me and said, she does like you. Come back. Yeah. So he came back. What I remember the most is we got off this boat and everybody was in swimsuits. And then we sat down to eat food and David left.
Starting point is 00:14:56 And I was like, oh, is he not coming back? And they're like, no, no, I'm sure he's coming back. He didn't say he left. And he came back 30 minutes later in a three-piece suit. And I was like, oh. So I drove to the mall and I bought a suit because i just like wanted to dress up a little more and like you know everybody's like in bathing suits it was so bizarre dressed to impress dressed to impress and then so our friend was my fourth wardrobe change of the day because it's the
Starting point is 00:15:18 80s boat party so all these like this is why he loves. Yeah. This is why he loves wrestling. I want to talk about that too. Because he gets to dress up all the time. But so yeah, we hit it off. And then I don't even, one thing led to the next. He tried to have sleep with me. I said, I don't do one night stands. And his line was, it wouldn't be a one night stand.
Starting point is 00:15:39 We both live in LA. I was like, yeah. That's right. Smooth. Smooth. Still didn't have a one night stand. And then we had a series. And then what happened? No, we won't tell that story. No, no, no. No was like, yeah. That's right. Smooth. Smooth, right? Still didn't have a one-night stand. And then we had a series. And then what happened? No, we won't tell that story. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:15:50 That's for a different show. After Hours. Oh, no. That's an After Hours show. No, that's for this show. After Hours. No, no. After Hours show. She offered me a pity something. A pity something. A pity BJ? A pity something. And I was like, I'm not going to take your pity something.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And then we left. So I did hold off. Yeah, and then we left awkwardly. And I was like, oh, I'll never hear from him again. No, she tried to sneak out in the morning. Yeah. I'm like, where are you going? She's like a little mouse caught in the light.
Starting point is 00:16:19 The little roach screamed on the floor. I still do that. She still does. She used to be famous for being at a party and being super awkward and socially awkward and climbing out the window of the bathroom and just disappearing. Oh, I love that. I think the ultimate. I use it all the time.
Starting point is 00:16:38 But mid-party. Not like end of night. Just disappear. I'm going to the bathroom. I climb out. So a lot of my friends would call me pokaroo because it was like out like i would just leave and not come back not explain it it's easier yeah it's so awkward by 60 people it's like just go but also if you don't want to stay long and you feel bad i just like i'll just climb out the window yeah but then what if someone
Starting point is 00:17:01 notices do you like have like an excuse ready go? It's happened a few times. She's gotten better. Yeah, I've gotten better. I feel like I'm better at making up an excuse and saying bye because I feel bad just leaving if someone noticed. Yeah. But Gina, she just dips out. I text people when I get home.
Starting point is 00:17:18 I left. Bye. Sorry. Thanks. Great. Bye. We had an 80s boat party. That sounds so fun.
Starting point is 00:17:23 I love the 80s. That's so up my alley. I fun. I love being on boats. I love the 80s. That's so up my alley. I think he still does it. Like, Tyler, I think, does it every year almost. It's like a 4th of July extravaganza. Oh, fun. It's kind of like a three-day party and including a boat party. I fell off the top of the boat.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Yeah, he fell. He was trying to look cool and jump in the water and he fell and hit his head on the Stop it. Oh, no. I completely took a bump. That's funny. Okay. So you guys didn't meet doing an interview, but working with entertainment tonight, who would you say is your favorite and least favorite? You don't have to say least favorite if you don't want.
Starting point is 00:17:54 No, I mean, there's definitely like on the record least favorites in that like I've been yelled at before in interviews. Yes. Well, and she's passed away now but penny marshall got really upset with me in an interview about her book a league of their own penny marshall yeah i think a lot of it had to do with that you know her book was like you know it was a really incredible book but she was old school she was crotchety she'll yell at you i mean that's just kind of what i did ask alec baldwin right after the Words with Friends incident on American Airlines.
Starting point is 00:18:28 He was at like the ballet in New York or whatever. And everybody wanted this one question about like, you know, what were you thinking? And, you know, Alec Baldwin can be a tough interview. And he's a great person but can be a little tough with media. And so he was kind of walking down the carpet. And I said something like,, Oh Alec, you know, I have to, um, I'm flying American airlines tomorrow. And I was just wondering, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:48 do you have any advice for me? And I was like, his face just looked at me like, okay, he's going to like yell at me. And he was actually pretty chill. He gave me like an okay kind of response. There might've been a curse word in there.
Starting point is 00:18:59 She interviewed Trump and all the kids. So I interviewed Trump all the time and he used to give me Trump ties for David. And I did a day in the games. Oh, yes. Oh, my God. So I interviewed Trump all the time. And he used to give me Trump ties for David. And I did a day in the life. If only I had those. Yeah. I did a day in the life with Eric and Don. And I did a day with Ivanka and her clothing line.
Starting point is 00:19:17 I want to see that again. I had a Christmas special with Melania from their apartment. That's crazy. Yeah. And then, you know, I guess people always ask me, like, what was he like? And he was very, you know, nice and very businesslike. And everything was like, you know, he appreciates being on television. And so everything's kind of a self-promotion.
Starting point is 00:19:39 But Tom Cruise also came. So that's the biggest class act is Tom Cruise. Really? He's so incredible that he, I don't know if it's his team that does it, but he'll remember obscure things about you. So when he comes up to you on the carpet, you know, I'm from Arkansas and he'll say something like, oh, how's your family in Arkansas? And you're like, what?
Starting point is 00:19:55 One time I interviewed Tom Cruise on the top of the Empire State Building and it was for his 50th anniversary, 50th birthday. And, you know, normally when you do these interviews, they'll say, oh, you have 20 minutes. And nothing's ever on time, especially like on movie sets. I sat one night like for a Johnny Depp movie
Starting point is 00:20:11 for like 10 hours before we really got everything. So Tom comes out and he's like on time. And he said, I have to use the restroom. Is that okay? And we were like, you're Tom Cruise. Like, of course you can go to lunch if you want to. So he ended up doing the interview for like two hours and could not have been more incredible george clooney's that way too he shows up early to every carpet so he can hit everybody always talks to everybody a lot of people this is why david's always like anytime i do a carpet
Starting point is 00:20:38 i'm always going to talk to people because what people don't see about news reporters is you sit there for like eight hours sometimes and then finally by the time people come, if they skip you, it's kind of not cool. Like it's the worst feeling. And that happens a lot. And now in this kind of gutter news age where it's like people are asking crap questions. Oh, I did get yelled at one time for asking Kristen Stewart about – what was the – when her and Rob Pattinson broke up? Oh, yeah. Wait, wasn't there something with the married man?
Starting point is 00:21:05 She was cheating with the director. And he was married, right? Yeah. Yeah. He was married. It was the director. And I asked her a question. But I did it like, you know, in a nice way.
Starting point is 00:21:14 But her publicist got really upset. Oh, gosh. I've been yelled at by a lot of publicists, by the way. Like that's typically what happens is you get yelled at by publicists. But one of the worst things about the Tom Cruise thing is that they went and took that interview and then when he went through two days later he announced the divorce from Katie Holmes. And then they chopped up
Starting point is 00:21:32 this sweet interview into like kind of more Scientology stuff. And it was stuff like that is why she wanted to leave. And she has now become one of the greatest producers I've ever worked with in my life. She's producing the wrestling documentary and we're worked with in my life. Love that. Love that. She's producing the wrestling documentary, and we're doing all this stuff together.
Starting point is 00:21:49 And she really is just incredible. Like, she's just a powerhouse. I don't miss asking bad questions. That was not my favorite part, was asking, like— Yeah, all of her skill set—sorry, I didn't mean to cut you off. But all your skill set in being a reporter fits so like as far as a producer goes, they go hand in hand. Some of my other Justin Bieber on tour was really fun because his team's just like amazing
Starting point is 00:22:12 to work with. Really? And I, yeah, I hid in a closet once and popped out to interview Madonna right as she was going into halftime report. That's awesome. And she was incredible. Who else? Oprah is the best interview I've ever done.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Oh my God. Yeah. And she's like legit one of the nicest people. and she was incredible who else Oprah is the best interview I've ever done oh my god yeah and she's like legit what a resume one of the nicest people and a friend of mine knows her and he's like
Starting point is 00:22:30 oh I'm just gonna interview Oprah and you know connect you two I'm like Oprah's never gonna write back she wrote back in a minute like apparently
Starting point is 00:22:36 that's how she is because she's so like on top of her game at all times that that's who she is like who you see is who you get I sent her
Starting point is 00:22:43 I'm divorced now but I got married and I sent her a wedding invitation and her team responded and just they said no we're not over but they responded but they responded i know that's like more than most people get by the way yeah um yeah i mean there was a lot of crazy stuff and then like when you cover the negative stuff it's always a big bummer and you know yeah like whitney houston's funeral and she's like my favorite person of all time. Yeah. I remember, like, exactly where I was the day that her and Michael Jackson died.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Michael Jackson. That was a big one. Yeah. Yeah. So how long have you been in journalism? So I went to NYU for journalism, and I actually worked for Hillary Clinton when she was senator. Oh, wow. Because I wanted to be in politics, and then I quickly learned, I was like, this is not
Starting point is 00:23:24 for me. And I went to MTV News and Docs. 9-11 had happened around that time. And so I learned a lot there. And that's where I started to kind of I always wanted to be a writer, a producer, not really on camera. But I ended up doing a lot of kind of on camera stuff and in college. And so I went into local news after NYU.
Starting point is 00:23:44 My first job was in little rock arkansas and i covered duck hunting and meth bus and um a lot of political stuff too and um i was general assignment and then i went to dallas and i was an anchor in general assignment there and dallas was really cool because it's a cool city and very cosmopolitan but they made me go on the road with the dallas mavericks and i was on the road with the Dallas Mavericks. Oh, they're cool. And I was on the airplane with the players. It was insane. That sounds fun.
Starting point is 00:24:08 I knew nothing. I knew nothing. I was horrible because I knew nothing about basketball. So I was like, I don't even know who these people are. It was a learning curve. And then I came to LA. I did local news in LA for four years and then ended up on started the insider first and then entertainment tonight.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Then I had to move to New York for entertainment tonight. We were dating at that time. No, no, yeah. I just did. Yes, and you were bi-coastal, right? For a while. No, so we're dating. We've fallen in love.
Starting point is 00:24:36 It took forever to like date and everything. But finally we do. And then she's like, well, I i plan this whole picnic i get all this food we're going to the beach i'm like i'm totally doing it up like you only do at the beginning of but uh we go we sit down all this stuff's laid out and she's like um i'm moving to new york i was like wow and she's like i was like what what? And she's like, what do you mean? She's like, yeah, my job wants me to go out to New York. I was like, wait, are you breaking up with me right now?
Starting point is 00:25:13 Are you breaking up with me? And like, why didn't you tell me that before I set up this whole picnic and romantic breakup? Like, what is this? It was so bizarre. But we did get back to together and david would come on my shoots with me a lot which was really funny so like i had to cover the first kardashian wedding to chris humphries and it was like horrifying because
Starting point is 00:25:33 there's nowhere like nobody wants to do interviews at a wedding right like it's same with brittany jacks like they're they might have an exclusive but they're not like yeah doing interviews and david came and we were back at the hotel where like a lot of the celebs were staying and David Spade was there for some weird reason who's a friend of his so he went and interviewed David Spade for me for the broadcast he was only he wasn't there for the Kardashians he was there for a comedy show and he gave us this soundbite like great quote he said I'm not I wasn't invited to the wedding but I was invited to the reshoots and so they opened up the show with this like interview David got.
Starting point is 00:26:06 It was really funny. My old boss used to call David sometimes for breaking news. What do you know about David? He's like, I can't say. I love that. Have you and David Spade worked together on movies?
Starting point is 00:26:22 No, just growing up. Just knowing him. I mean, in town for so long, yeah. Who is the coolest person you've worked with? Marlon Brando. Marlon Brando was amazing. Jeff Bridges was incredible. If you could do a movie with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
Starting point is 00:26:44 Probably like De Niro or like pacino i mean those guys were just yeah robin williams would have been amazing to work with right um do you think jerry lewis do you think if robin williams was still alive that they would have had him as the genie in aladdin or no because he's just like I hope so I mean I kind of hope so I actually given we have a two-year-old and five-year-old I should have seen Aladdin it's so good you have
Starting point is 00:27:12 and I love Will Smith yeah but I just like I love Robin I know it's like a little bit of Mary Poppins was like that for me where like I think Emily Blunt's amazing but I wish I would have heard some of the old songs. There's something about that.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Nostalgia. Yeah, the nostalgia of it. Will Smith did kill it. He did. It was so good. He's another nice person to interview. Oh, I love that. Yeah, it's always good when you know they're nice, and when you know they're not nice, it makes you look at their movies differently.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Yeah, totally. It's hard sometimes because you're like, nope, that person was so rude. Yeah, and there are people who even here who I've interviewed who I maybe necessarily wasn't Totally. It's like, it's hard sometimes because you're like, nope, that person was so rude. Yeah. And there are people who even like here who I've interviewed who I maybe necessarily wasn't a fan of like on their show. And then after I'm like, wait, okay. I have to remember that like, especially with reality TV, it's edited. They show you what they want to show you, not the whole person.
Starting point is 00:28:00 Yeah. So I've like tried to learn like, you know, however you meet someone in person, like that's who they really are Yeah, not what you see on TV But when I've met someone who's rude It does change your outlook on them when you're watching them in a show or movie and like a lot of comedians You would expect to be really funny in person and a lot of them aren't like are very quiet and you know, you're like Oh, I'm expecting you to be a joke, right?
Starting point is 00:28:25 Sometimes it's not the same person that you would expect. I couldn't watch the Kardashians for a little bit because I met Kourtney somewhere and I was like, hi, Kourtney, and she literally looked through me. I was going to ask her for a photo because I had no shame. I was like, if they're going to ask someone for a photo, it should be the Kardashians. If I would have been bleeding and stabbed to death,
Starting point is 00:28:42 she would have stepped over my dead body to get out of the room. That's how much she looked through me. Really? And after that, I was like, oh my God, I've been such a fan of the show for so long. Yeah. And I've met a couple of the other ones. I have a picture with Kim. She was so nice.
Starting point is 00:28:53 She's really nice. So polite. And I was like, oh my gosh, Courtney was so mean. I couldn't watch for like three weeks after that. Yeah. That's surprising because they're all like really pretty open and nice. I was at the White House with Kim last week. She's doing all that prison reform stuff.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Which is really incredible. And everybody's like giving her her time. I think it's great. She's putting her money to like freeing thousands of people. Yeah, I love that. Yeah, and becoming an attorney like her dad was. Like that stuff is like what you do when you become rich and famous. I'm like their biggest stan.
Starting point is 00:29:23 I love the Kardashians. And I love that they use their platform to do so much good for so many people. And anyone who talks shit about them is just jealous that they're not them. Yeah. But I'm like, I mean... They just also don't get it.
Starting point is 00:29:34 No. They're like, well, they don't understand the new world and like, you know. Yeah. And to say that they're not talented, what, because they don't sing and dance? Like, they're the most talented businesswoman in the world.
Starting point is 00:29:46 I mean, Kylie's a 21-year-old billionaire. I know. Rob Kardashian beat my ass in Dancing with the Stars. Really? Okay, it was the same season. Yes. Yes. But you made it pretty far.
Starting point is 00:29:59 I got taken out by Nancy Grace. That's right. But, you know, Rob, you know, I said the whole time his booty was – he had a nice booty too. I'm just telling you. He did. I got it when I saw his booty. I was like, oh, now I get it about her booty too. It's a whole booty thing.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Did you love doing that show was it stressful no it was super stressful yeah i like couldn't hear the music like there's all these things that happen i get like post-traumatic stress if i hear that little there's a little sound cue they do before the dances but you can't hear the music at all he also they play it differently than what you've been dancing and recording to. I'm dyslexic, so the one, two, three I just got lost. He also thought I was going to be covering it because I was at E.T. at the time and that's when I had to move.
Starting point is 00:30:53 So he was like, oh, I thought you'd be covering it. I'd be hanging around. That's on my bucket list of shows I want to do. Ever since the first season of it, I've always wanted to do it. It's great because your body gets crazy shape. I used to do. Ever since the first season of it, I've always wanted to do it. It's great because your body gets crazy shape. I used to live across the street
Starting point is 00:31:09 from where they film and I'm like, of course while I live here and it would be super convenient, I won't be on the show. But now I live in Marina, I'm like, watch now. I would love to do it. You'd be perfect for it. I would love to do it. And also you're super fit. You're working out all the time. There's not a big curve there. You know what I mean? You just have to get your moves down. And I'm not to do it. And also you're like super fit. You're working out all the time. Thanks. There's not like a big curve there.
Starting point is 00:31:25 You know what I mean? You just have to get your moves down. And I'm not like a trained dancer. It's so unfair when they get like ice skaters and stuff. But I'm like, I mean, I have like a natural rhythm. I cheered and danced my whole life. Oh, you'll be good. Oh, that's great. So I just think it would be so much fun.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I would love to see you on it. And like I'm friends with a couple of them. We're going to start the campaign. We're going to campaign. So we had talked about having me on a couple of seasons ago, but just with Vanderpump and other things, I was in Vegas. The timing of it didn't work out. That's hard.
Starting point is 00:31:51 It does take up your whole life. Oh yeah. You did the show in Vegas. I did. So you'd have no problem with live television, like live dancing or whatever. Yeah. I felt like though, it was like every night. Well, I mean, I got used to going on stage and it was the same show every night.
Starting point is 00:32:04 So that was easy. Whereas Dancing with the Stars, we had different dance every night. Well, I mean, I got used to going on stage and it was the same show every night. So that was easy. Whereas Dancing with the Stars, we had different dance every week. But like even just like when I like used to perform and stuff or even still getting on the bar at CERN singing a song, I get like that pit in my stomach and I'm like, oh, my God, oh, my God, I'm going to throw up. I'm going to. And then it's like once you get going, I'm like, oh, I got this. But it's like I've never even like been like like actually offered to do Dancing with the Stars and every time I watch it I get nervous for like I'm like oh my god if that is me one day like I would freak out but it's nerve-wracking I don't know it's the most nervous
Starting point is 00:32:33 thing but then I started wrestling and that's sort of very similar to yeah okay it's like it's like Dancing with the Stars with violent with a bunch of testosterone yeah when did you start wrestling punching like a year ago well no 19 years ago i won the wcw uh championship because i was promoting a film called ready to rumble and then which didn't do well at the box office yeah and all the fans got mad at me so then um they felt he was an actor not a wrestler and so when they wrote him into the script and when he won the belt wrestling fans are really really really dedicated fans so then um they felt he was an actor not a wrestler and so when they wrote him into the script and when he won the belt wrestling fans are really really really dedicated fans and they're like what is this this is an actor he's not a wrestler so they trolled him for the past 18
Starting point is 00:33:13 years literally if you went to like a match with him people were like f you david arcad i hate you like spitting on him like wrestling is also acting You're putting on a show. Exactly. So I wanted to train and so I did for the past year. We have a ring in our backyard. No way. Awesome. My tag team partner is in the room actually. RJ City. My mom's our nanny and she loves when RJ comes over to the house
Starting point is 00:33:37 because he's in his Speedo, in the pool, no tan lines. You guys have got to follow him on Twitter. It's amazing. I love that. Are you good on Twitter? Janet's really funny on Twitter. You guys are got to follow him on Twitter it's amazing I love that are you good on Twitter at RJ City yeah Janet's really funny on Twitter
Starting point is 00:33:47 so you guys oh yeah so you guys will do a whole Twitter thing yes David's daughter Coco is RJ's biggest fan
Starting point is 00:33:53 she just loves him because he's so fun to watch in the ring but like he totally murders David when they're like it's really but now they're
Starting point is 00:34:00 now they're tag team together and they're like the tag team we have a match in Baldwin Park tomorrow night Baldwin Park tomorrow night. Baldwin Park? No way.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Yes. I went to high school in La Puente. Oh, my God. So I know Baldwin Park. That's right. Wait, going back to RJ, are you single? Yeah. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:34:19 So are we. You're all millennials. Come on. Come on, guys. It's a millennial fest in here. Remember, I'm a millennial, too. I know. She's a all millennials. Come on. Come on, guys. It's a millennial fest in here. Remember, I'm a millennial too. I know. She's a millennial.
Starting point is 00:34:29 I know. It's like technically we are, but I feel like my little sister's 21, so it's like I do not feel like a millennial having a 21-year-old sister. No. We have to ask her a lot of stuff. We're like, what is this that's trending? We don't understand it at all. I totally don't get it.
Starting point is 00:34:42 She's done it down for us a lot. Yeah. I'm the same way. I feel like my kids, my two and five-year-old know more than me about the internet my our five-year-old like hacks into my phone downloads my messages like that's hilarious wild he'll like i'm like why are my messages on the house ipad yeah charlie the five-year-old oh my god i love that that's such a cute name too too. I love that. David, if you could only choose one as a career for the rest of your life, would you choose wrestling or stick with acting? Definitely acting.
Starting point is 00:35:13 I can't wrestle anymore. It's so much pain. I'm too old for it. I'm looking at what's the final portion of my career going to look like, and that's where I'm going. Do you see the scar here on his neck? Yeah, I got stabbed in a death match what yeah and with a light tube like stop it fluorescent light yeah um luke perry sadly was alive at the time because his son's a big wrestler and they were all there and they were cleaning him off and he got stabbed in the neck
Starting point is 00:35:41 and then ended up at cedars for a good week and oh my god yeah it was wild they pulled out hair and glass from the from the wound oh yeah they did but all the nurses were joking they're like your wife keeps calling asking for us to blood test you it's like you get stabbed in the neck with a fluorescent light tube that's so gnarly gnarly oh yeah it was really so wrestling is not fake okay yeah see and that's what like and watching you watch glow. Yeah, it's so good. Yeah. So one of my friends is going to be on the next season.
Starting point is 00:36:09 So I need to catch up. I'm so excited. But with like just watching that show and then I had a cousin who was a wrestler growing up. I always thought it was more fake than I guess it is. No, I mean, you can break your neck. Yeah. So I always tell people like if you can break your neck or die.
Starting point is 00:36:24 Yeah, that's real. It's real. It's super intense. Yeah. Yeah. So how do you feel about him, like, wrestling or fighting? Is that something that you're just like, don't do it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Like, after the neck incident? She thinks I'm pretty crazy. She's like, when I came home from the wrestling thing, she's like, do you just want to die? And then, like, I said to a girlfriend, like, he's like mentally ill doing this. Like, I mean mean I am kind of mentally ill I mean no joking aside I'm a freak but David's like an extremist you know so I feel
Starting point is 00:36:52 like if he wasn't wrestling it'd be other things right so in a way the good part of wrestling is the camaraderie and the friends and he's lost 50 pounds doing it wow you had 50 pounds to lose yeah so we gained a bunch of weight in my pregnancy. I love that. So supportive. That's so nice of you, David. And I lost it and he didn't.
Starting point is 00:37:13 So he was like 50 pounds overweight going into it. And you know when you live with somebody, you don't notice like weight. Yeah. But we look at pictures and he's like, why didn't you tell me? And I'm like, I didn't really. When it's gradual, you don't notice. I just didn't notice. And I think I was like breastfeeding at the time. So you're losing it. Oh, yeah. But he was like 50 pounds overweight. He was eating really bad.
Starting point is 00:37:33 So he cut it all out, lost 50 pounds. So that part of it's really incredible. And I don't think people understand about wrestling like other sports. Like wrestlers are insane. Like their life is on the road. They don't get paid a whole lot. It's not like there's health benefits. Like they're not these like basketball contracts.
Starting point is 00:37:50 And it's like a whole culture, you know, like when you go to these things, the fans are just so dedicated. And it's just this whole world that's so wild. So at the beginning, I was really negative. I was like, you want to do what again? Wrestling, you weirdo? 48. But now I'm like, ah, like in the front row.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Right. Yeah, cheering everybody on. It's really cool. But this doc we're doing is pretty, it's out there. That's amazing. It's out there. Okay, so you're producing it. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:15 So what is that like, being married and working together? We get in little things once in a while, but we're pretty good. We got in one fight not too long ago about wrestling. It was like really intense. It is. We both do different things, right? David's super creative. I'm not an artist. I'm a news reporter.
Starting point is 00:38:36 She is. She's more... I'm more logical. And I do the structure and the schedules, and he's the wild creative one. So occasionally we'll like butt heads on things. Yeah. And it might be like
Starting point is 00:38:47 a screaming match. Maybe a screaming match for a second. Would you guys ever have your own reality show? I don't know. Maybe if it was like cooking. Her and her mom
Starting point is 00:38:57 are amazing cooks and then like sort of I love the barefoot contest. Would you? In our later years when we just wind it down. I think we're too boring. We don't have enough conflict.
Starting point is 00:39:09 Boring? I'm sorry. That's just so fun. She did miss the end of the night at Sundance. Here's the most entertaining person I've ever met. That was the night we got into a fight too, by the way. She's like, you're going home. You told me a fun fact or a little known fact that I drop on people now that everyone
Starting point is 00:39:30 loves, that Ben Affleck was an extra in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So I tell people that all the time. I don't know if he was an extra. He was a day player. You know, another good story was back in the day, David and Luke Perry lived together, and they both got hit shows that they thought. So another good story was back in the day, David and Luke Perry lived together. And they both got hit shows that they thought. And David got The Outsiders, which was canceled.
Starting point is 00:39:50 And Luke got 90210. Oh, crazy. That was it. He was living at my mom's house when he got that part. Yeah, that's crazy. It was crazy. Because I was like, my first job, I was 17, 18. Wait, who in The Outsiders did you play? My character was 2-Bit.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Okay. And it was, you know, I'm for like six episodes or something. But then we got canceled and then they put 90210 on. Great show. 90210. Great show. I was on there once. Oh, you guys are the modern day version.
Starting point is 00:40:19 I was on the new 90210. Oh, awesome. Oh, good. But you guys are the modern day version of that. Yeah, the modern day cheers. Or Melrose. Yeah, that too. It's a little bit of all of it, right?
Starting point is 00:40:29 Yeah. Mixed into one. Yeah, everyone likes to say that we're the cast of Friends. No, by the way, Jax, we have to get Courtney to record a video for him because he's like obsessed. Oh, is he? Yeah, he's obsessed. Oh, we have to do a birthday wedding thing.
Starting point is 00:40:40 We'll do a wedding wish. Maybe we could do that. They would die. Let's do that for literally like they live for friends they can quote every episode i mean it's insane how obsessed they are do you know who's obsessed in our house with it our five-year-old charlie really yeah and i'm like i'm like grandma i don't know are the storylines they all are appropriate like it wasn't anything bad but charlie always says you know that courtney
Starting point is 00:41:05 really loves me she really likes me it's really cute i don't think he understands what's going on but he just like right because it's on nickelodeon like after his cartoon yeah yeah it's cute i mean that was you know an iconic show is that nick at night now it's on everywhere yeah gosh nick at night used to be for classics and now like you were a creeper on the show weren't you like a stalker stalker yeah it's funny because you met courtney playing a news reporter and now you're married to a real news reporter i know it's really funny actually that's like the truth it's so bizarre yeah i should dress up for halloween oh my god dewey you could be officer dewey That's right That would be hilarious By the way
Starting point is 00:41:46 That would be Ridiculously Meta Meta I love that Yeah Okay so there's been what Four Scream movies
Starting point is 00:41:54 Yeah Is there going to be a fifth I guess they're doing A Scream Series The TV series They're doing On MTV
Starting point is 00:42:01 A new version of that That moved to VH1 now But it's all like Young kind of It's nobody from the old. But it's all like young kind of. It's nobody from the old school. So it's no Officer Dewey? No. That's bullshit.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Yeah. I'm going to boycott. But I do not exist in that universe. What's up, guys? So are they like replacing the characters with younger people? Yeah. It's like Bella Thorne and like Bella Thorne. Is she Sydney?
Starting point is 00:42:21 I can't remember. There was like a whole group of them. And Tyga's in it. Really? And then CJ Wallace, who I love. He's Biggie's son There was like a whole group of them. And Tyga's in it. Really? And then CJ Wallace, who I love. He's Biggie's son. He's an incredible person. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:30 And just an amazing kid. But that's the only, I can't remember who else they said. Interesting. And he's at MTV? I think it's VH1. Oh, VH1. He just moved from MTV. You'd be a good Gail Weathers, too, by the way.
Starting point is 00:42:42 I have to put you up for that audition. That would be so fun yeah i did get my degree in broadcast journalism so that is right up my alley the same thing that you're doing right now right that would be so fun like a host of et right serious so literally my dream job is basically yours oh my god minus the red carpet i think because i've been interviewed so much over the last like decades on the red carpet i don't want to be on the other side of it however like an in studio entertainment news show is my ultimate dream well we'll have to talk to kevin frazier over there because he should go on and do like a guest spot like go go like do a host the weekend or something i would love that like i'm i just
Starting point is 00:43:25 to toot my own horn i'm killer with a teleprompter i'm really quick on my feet and you have to have a crazy work ethic yeah which you probably have from doing the show absolutely not miss a beat ever with anything and it's like i mean we're on season eight of vanderpump rules i mean how much longer can i be a waitress let's be real you know it's like i mean i don't know that the show is ever gonna end i don't know if like my time on it's going to end before the show ends or if it's all who knows. It better never end. But the thing is, it's like, I don't only want to do this for as long as it stays on.
Starting point is 00:43:55 Like, I do want to expand my career more, which last year was the first year. I mean, other than like music, people think I was taking seriously as like a career, but that was just a fun hobby when the show started. Like I had an opportunity to record a song for free and perform at the Roxy. Like that's iconic. I mean, I performed main stage at the Roxy. So I was like, no, check off the bucket list. That was amazing.
Starting point is 00:44:17 You had a band. Yes. Wait, let's do it. What kind of music did you play? Were you the lead singer? I'm not allowed to play band. It's so good. No, please don't. Let's do it. What kind of music did you play? Were you the lead singer? I'm not allowed to play it, am I? No.
Starting point is 00:44:30 You can play the first 30 seconds of it and not get in trouble. Why do you have it there? Because I love to play it for everybody that I know. Stop it. Were you the lead singer? Yeah, stop. Did you play instruments as well? Pretty bad.
Starting point is 00:44:43 No, I played the trumpet, but I was terrible. You're kind of like Tom Sandoval. The tragedy awaits you at the end of the day. Oh, no. Why would you do this to me? She's just laughing at me. Ten seconds. Okay, we'll stop.
Starting point is 00:44:59 That was in the scream sound. Wait, I love it. That's awesome. Yeah. How fun. But the funny thing is we did, Wes Craven was such an amazing person and director and mentor.
Starting point is 00:45:13 And he loved music and he was like encouraging me. So he allowed us to go on the Scream soundtrack, a couple of them. I mean, that fits in. And Ready to Rumble, I was on the soundtrack. So I ended up although I had this band for a short period of time
Starting point is 00:45:28 we got like two gold records or platinum records oh wow that's awesome which is also like bucket list stuff we went and played a big show in Atlanta
Starting point is 00:45:36 called The Big Day Out that's cool Foo Fighters were like opening it we were on like a side stage it was kind of to live that little
Starting point is 00:45:44 fantasy for a second was fun that's so fun you've been able to do so many different aspects in the entertainment world opening it we were on like a side stage it was kind of to live that little fantasy yeah it was fun it's so fun you've been able to do so many different aspects in the entertainment world but so you i mean you obviously come from like a huge acting family that's just was that kind of like growing up like did you like not necessarily have a choice we're like doctor teacher like did everyone just want to be actors well we always we always did it as kids, playing, performing, doing little plays, little things. But then as we got older, I got into graffiti, breakdancing, and stuff like that. So I was a little bit of a troublemaker. He still tags our house.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Really? No way. The trash cans. Is he any good at that? Yeah, he's really good. Then I decided that some girls came up to me in high school and said, we're doing this play. You get to ride a motorcycle through the auditorium. And I was like, I'm in.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Yeah. So I did it. And then I had an amazing teacher named Ben DeBaldo who really sort of focused me. And, you know, had me do plays and, like, competitions. And that really got me focused on it. What's interesting about them is they're all working actors. They grew up in a family that was – they're all artists. But his parents were working actors, very much so.
Starting point is 00:46:54 And so even to this day, David's always working. Patricia's always working. Rosanna's always working. Everybody – Richmond, everybody works a ton because that's the way they grew up. So it's not like so much celebrity, so to speak. It's literally like working artists, working actors. It's really interesting. What you probably notice after you've been in the town for a little while and doing the stuff is that you have to do other things.
Starting point is 00:47:17 You have to produce stuff. You have to do bootsies and just different little pet projects to keep yourself busy. You put all these hooks in the water and, you know, most of them are, you know, nothing. But then one time you get a bite. Yeah. You work at stuff forever. Hollywood lottery. Yeah. You know it.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Exactly. So I found a little fun fact about where the name Bootsie Bellows came from. Oh, yeah. So is your mom's stage name as a burlesque dancer? Yeah. That is so cool. The naked pictures are her. What? No way.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Yeah, there's like covers from Treasure Box, this old men's magazine. I love that. That is so cool. His brother was trying to pee there one time. He's like, I can't pee because mom's naked in the bathroom. Yeah, there's a naked photo of her right above the urinal. He's like, I was cool with the pictures until it's like right above the urinal.
Starting point is 00:48:05 Oh, my God. And then in the old, old bathroom, the big red lips were my lips. I remember. What ever happened to that painting? I don't remember that picture. We blew them up, so they were like big lips. I love that. Yeah, it was funny.
Starting point is 00:48:15 Going back to you said plays, I wanted to tell you, I actually saw you in Sherlock Holmes. Oh, my God. With James Maslow. I'm so sorry. No, it was great. I loved it. Oh, you're sweet. That Maslow. I'm so sorry. No, it was great. I loved it. Oh, you're sweet. That was traumatic for all of us.
Starting point is 00:48:29 That was a painful experience. I had fun. Thank you. My sister was working as James' personal assistant at the time. Oh, cool. Yeah, so we all went to support. And I think there was even a time that she had to go to your house early in the morning to bring James a toothbrush.
Starting point is 00:48:44 Oh, my gosh that was probably a day i wasn't there she's like oh my god i have to go to david r kett's house right now like james needs a toothbrush she was like 17 at that time amazing yeah so she got james is really interesting yeah he is um we're neighbors i saw him recently. He's like always perfectly. Always perfect. Never has a zit. Never has his hair undone. Always tan.
Starting point is 00:49:11 Always perfect. When I met him, I was like, okay, you may be single, but we could never date. You're better looking. You're too perfect. It's just not going to work out. He definitely refers to himself in the third person. A hundred percent. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:24 But her boyfriend, my sister's boyfriend now justice is actually working with james oh my god he does all his like videography and like all of that stuff he's got a big social presence he does yeah yeah but i just i had to mention that because i was like oh my god that's funny my sister's been to y'all's house oh my gosh yeah um okay one other thing just that i have to ask about that i saw about you. You were like low-key married to Joe Francis for a second. Oh, God. Oh, Lord. Oh, geez.
Starting point is 00:49:50 Okay. You did go to journalism school, didn't you? They never got married. What am I legally allowed to say? No, we were never married. It was like a domestic partnership. It was a domestic partnership. Lance was there.
Starting point is 00:50:02 And we often joke about it. And Chris and Bruce Jenner. Oh, they were. Yeah. They were there when Bruce was Bruce. Yeah. And was there. And we often joke about it. And Chris and Bruce Jenner? Oh, they were. Yeah, they were there when Bruce was Bruce. Yeah. And I can't remember who else. It was a dark chapter of my life. No, I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:50:13 A lot of people. No, you're not kidding. By the way, a lot of people always ask me because I was like, you know, I was very straight, like journalism, da, da, da, da, da. And so I think I just had like my wild years in my 20s. Girl got wild. Late 20s, literally. Like literally.
Starting point is 00:50:27 Absolutely literally. I will say this. He, you know, as a business person was brilliant. And I remained friends with a lot of interesting people. So I ended up with some great friends out of it. Yeah. The best part of the situation was, you know, and no knock on him. I mean, whatever.
Starting point is 00:50:47 But kind of lowered the bar for me because I come in and I'm a maniac. But at least I'm not fucking doing porn like selling porn videos. That's true. I mean, yeah, you can only go up for it. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:51:01 I know. I was like, what was I thinking? And then I was like, oh, maybe it was like my dad. No, I'm kidding. You know what I mean? No, it was definitely a piss off dad thing. Yeah. But the interesting part about it was I was in local news at the time. And right when like all of that stuff happened and I was like pretty upset about it and embarrassed
Starting point is 00:51:18 or whatever you want to call it, I got the job at ET. And so like my bosses were really cool and understanding, but it was definitely like a really strange experience because normally I was on the red carpet asking questions and um but yeah I mean it's so funny you ask because it's been like 10 years so nobody brings it up anymore and it's definitely not in my bio um no no it was just on google I think um I think the best thing to say is is sometimes we make mistakes with men. A lot of smart women make mistakes with men. Yeah, we're both smart. Okay, okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:51:48 So at least I did right this time. I made a mistake with that one right there. Oh, you missed it. Yeah, I was like, what's it one behind? Okay, it keeps coming up and it's a little mocky. Yeah, that was a mistake. But who pops up? This one.
Starting point is 00:51:59 I'll just write it down for you. Yeah, but it's interesting because I was with like a lot of women the other night, like really cool, powerful women like yourselves. And everybody was like, oh, God, you remember that one time? We all have. I have a lot of those. Listen, we are just pieces of work as men. We are just, you know, in case you haven't noticed, we are just children.
Starting point is 00:52:20 We are just little boys that have never really grown up. We try our best. I'm sorry, but we do our best. Speaking of kids, plans for more? God, no. No, she doesn't want any more. I have an extra child right here.
Starting point is 00:52:38 It was like, no, I think you'll find with kids it's so intense. And I have two boys. They're intense. And when I was pregnant with my first, I called my dad and I was like, Dad, I'm pregnant. And I have two boys. Boys are intense. They're intense. And when I was pregnant with my first, I called my dad. And I was like, Dad, I'm pregnant. And he was like, I've got to call you back. I was like, what a weird response.
Starting point is 00:52:51 And then he called me back 24 hours later. He was like, I never thought you'd have kids. I'm like, well, thanks? I mean, that's such a rude thing to say. But I think it's always worked. And I just didn't think about. I really hadn't held a baby until I had one. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:53:02 I literally. In the same way. Babies freak me out. Freak me out. And then once you have them – You're like a little bird. Yeah. You're just like, oh, this is my little chick.
Starting point is 00:53:11 Yeah. And the two-year-old's 45 pounds, so he's a chunk. And it's just, like, so cute and snuggly. So I will say it's the hardest job in the world. Like, you cannot take it off. Yeah. Like, you can't take off a day of being a mom. Right.
Starting point is 00:53:23 So that part's really tough. And all of the kind of like working, being a mom's really tough. But other than that, it's like so much fun once you get into it. Like the first one, I was terrified the entire time and I always thought something was wrong.
Starting point is 00:53:36 How old were you? I was 34, I'm 38 now. So five years ago. And I would call the doctor with the weirdest stuff. I was like, you know, I have a bastard hound and he has something on his head. Can I get a bastard hound like thing? Like, you know what I mean? Like mental, not normal.
Starting point is 00:53:53 And the doctor was like, you are crazy. Like you need to relax. And then by the second one, you're like, can I have the Windex to, you know, do the windows? Whereas first, everything's organic. You know what I mean? So it's like totally different. It gets easier. But the working and balancing it all is really interesting to me.
Starting point is 00:54:12 Because I'm from the South where women don't work. And they sit at home and bake cookies. Not anymore. Not anymore. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it'll be interesting when you do have kids. If. No, you'll have.
Starting point is 00:54:23 You're like me. It's like it's going to happen when it's going to happen,'s gonna happen right well i have nine frozen not embryos just eggs i'm doing a second round um in like the next like month or two just because i'm smart though i'm just not and i'm i'm single i'm divorced i don't want to be in a relationship anytime soon yeah but i'm like i made a joke bad joke knocking on wood i, watch, out of like the entire cast, like the only single girl on the show gets knocked up first. That would be a sick plot twist. There's an amazing sperm donor over here.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Like, listen, you don't have to actually, you know, it can all be just a scientific. I have a good jawline. You do. He does have a good jawline. That is very true. You look good in speedo. Quick wit. Like that. That's a good jawline. You do. He does have a good jawline. That is very true. You look good in a Speedo. Quick wit.
Starting point is 00:55:07 Like that. That's a plus. Yeah. Well, SDRC is just around the corner. That'd be a good spin-off. Come out to Baldwin Park, man. Check out the show. It's going to be something else.
Starting point is 00:55:15 Check out the talent. Yeah, it's called Bar Wrestling. Yeah, that'd be a good spin-off show, by the way. You single and pregnant and single and on your own quest. No, no, no. That just is like giving me... No, no, no. That just is like giving. No, no, no. I feel like you would give me the baby to raise because you would just not know what to do.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Yeah. I would end up having to be the baby. Two girls and a baby. But I would definitely give the baby to my mom full time. Yeah. My mom's our nanny, which is really nice. Yeah. Two and a half girls.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Yeah. So. You both raised the child. I don't know if that's going to happen for me anytime soon. How old are you then? Take your time, by the way. I just turned 34. Oh, yeah, you have plenty of time.
Starting point is 00:55:51 By the way, enjoy it. Yeah, it's like as much as I feel like I have plenty of time, also like my eggs are just getting older as I am. So that's why I was like, I'm going to do this now. So I don't have to be that like 35-year-old woman who's like, oh, my God, like I need this, I need that. I'm just like, meh. And you know what? If I i'm too old to carry it then i can get like some like hot like little 26 year old surrogate and oh yeah yeah yeah totally i thought you were asking for
Starting point is 00:56:13 more sperm yeah not currently taking sperm donations but you know ask me in two years so there's one thing that um i wanted to talk to you guys about that I'm not sure if you know about. I know I was mentioning it before you got here. But have you heard of True Car? Oh, yes. Yes, I have. Absolutely. This is a car guy.
Starting point is 00:56:33 He loves cars. Okay. So I have just the thing for you if you're looking for another car or if you want to, like, trade in, get some cash. So the thing with this is you just go to Truecar, everything you can do online from home, you just enter your license plate number and all of your car's details will just pop up. You just answer a few questions about navigation, moonroof, and yeah, you just watch as your car's details pop up. Amazing. And then once you're finished, you can get a Truecash offer sent to you that you can take either to a local certified dealer and you can cash it out or trade it in.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Cool. That's an amazing way to get a car. I love it. I know my sister just did it right now. I was telling her about this. Like, what was this, last week or the week, two weeks ago? That's awesome. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:16 But we're like constantly driving back and forth to Palm Springs. Oh, you do? You spend a lot of time there? I just bought a house out there. Oh, nice. It's our bachelorette pad. Yeah. I love Palm Springs. Hell yeah. Except there's I just bought a house out there. Oh, nice. It's our bachelorette pad. Yeah. I love Palm Springs.
Starting point is 00:57:26 Hell yeah. Except there's only like retirees in Palm Springs. And gay guys. Yeah. We have some fun friends in Palm Springs. We have yet to meet any like eligible bachelors. Oh, I know. Yeah, that might not happen.
Starting point is 00:57:35 We have great girls weekends. Yeah. I have a blast. That's awesome. But between- The golf courses. Yeah. And I live on a golf course.
Starting point is 00:57:41 Amazing. It's amazing. But it's been putting so much mileage on my car. So my sister, she's driven out there a couple times too. But I just told her, you know, if you're ready to experience a better way to sell or train your car, just check out True Car. Awesome. Time for that minivan now, right? With all the kids.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Do you guys have a minivan yet? No, we need a minivan. I love a minivan. I love a good minivan. I can't wait for the minivan to start being like self-driving and just sit back. That's going to be a thing. It's going to be so amazing. We got a car for like kids and dogs.
Starting point is 00:58:13 We have four Basset Hounds. We have a lot of, you know, moving parts. And it was a Cadillac or is a Cadillac Escalade. This is the old one. But it showed up and it was all like blacked out and it said DA on it. He had all the things like Cadillac taken off and then just put da on it and i was like what i should have put c yeah i took everything off mine but i didn't add ss yeah yeah yeah but my i have a ford explorer sport oh that's cool and i love it but i kind of wanted it to look more like a range rover so i shaved off all of the like
Starting point is 00:58:44 emblems put a new pearl on it wrapped it matte black put wheels it's pretty dope that's awesome I like it I got pulled over once in your car because it was all tinted yeah I currently have a tinted window ticket out and I went to go pay it by the deadline and they're like there's no record of your ticket and I'm like but the ticket's right here like I'm like am I gonna get like a failure to appear and she's like no she goes there's nothing in the system for you so i don't know what to tell you she goes here's the paper showing you were here i was like okay cool and then i asked to share a friend of mine and i was like so i was like because um i went and got it signed off and i was like so i took in the ticket that you signed off and they said there was no record i'm like did you do
Starting point is 00:59:21 something when you signed it off it took it out of the system and he was like no he goes they have a year that they could send you the ticket and i'm like a year because i never got anything in the mail but i'm like well i know the due date is this day but yeah there's there's a i think a ticket out there for my tinted window somewhere so funny they're retinted yeah it's hard to see you have an eye disorder yeah that's i tried to say that i've used that once i tried to get a note from my eye doctor they were like no but i use that as an excuse because really my eyes are very sensitive to light yeah and then um i also tried to use which i never name drop myself for anything like do you know who i am no but the last time i got pulled over
Starting point is 01:00:03 for tinted windows he's like why are they so tinted? Because I don't want paparazzi. I freaked out, and I go, you know what? I go, I'm on a television show. My car is very recognizable. No one else has a matte black Ford Explorer Sport in Los Angeles. And I go, you know, sometimes there's paparazzi, and it's just like, and he's like, I don't care who you are. He goes, I, he's like, I've been chased by gangbangers.
Starting point is 01:00:22 He's like, I don't have the right to have my windshield tinted. So neither do you. And I was like, wow, you are having a bad day. Just give me the ticket and let me get on with my life. He was he was not a nice cop. Oh, no. But one last question I wanted to ask you before we wrap up. So I think Scream and Never Been Kissed are two of my personal favorite movies that you've been in. But what is it? Can you pick like one of your like favorite movies that you've been in but what is can you pick like
Starting point is 01:00:46 one of your like favorite roles that you've played i mean i did that movie ready to rumble which was really fun because i did i do love wrestling and i loved wrestling as a kid so i got to work with like macho man randy savage is just some of my heroes yeah so that was fun i did i worked with marlon brando for one day, which was an incredible experience. That's so cool. But I did this movie called Dream with the Fishes. I filmed it right after Scream. I actually drove from the Scream set to San Francisco and started shooting.
Starting point is 01:01:17 Oh, wow. Like the next weekend or something. And it's just a really sweet, true story about a guy who's suicidal who meets a guy who talks him off the bridge and then you find out the guy he met is dying of cancer no way so that they go on this adventure the last sort of the bucket list kind of stuff but it's just a really sweet kind of yeah intense we're gonna have to check it's really good. Yeah. And then you just had a new film at Sundance this year, right? Yeah, Mope.
Starting point is 01:01:47 Which we couldn't make because we were flustered. It's so intense. It's intense. It's so intense. It's a true story and it was actually on the local news in LA. It was a-
Starting point is 01:01:57 It's in the porn industry. Mopes are the lowest rung on the- They're like extras. The Mopes in background and they do like- The guy that gets their nuts like- Do really bad stuff. And there was a guy that was mentally insane and ended up killing a bunch of people with a samurai sword.
Starting point is 01:02:10 And it was like the ending of the movie has the actual local news footage of him up on the hill with the samurai sword. But the beginning of it, I didn't even know what the movie was about. And I watched it at home. And I had to shower after the first 10 minutes because it's so gnarly and intense. It's a good movie it's really good I play a serious racist it's pretty intense but it's so hard to watch okay next flight
Starting point is 01:02:32 we have some movies to download did you guys see anything else at Sundance we didn't see any movies we saw Rosanna's documentary The Weinstein Doc and that was really good it was done by the BBC and like you know from my perspective because I was in journalism it was so wild to me how many like media moments he had in interviews that he had that nobody ever reported or published because he was so all powerful that like he would get these things killed. And one in particular, he really like went after a female journalist and called her some really horrible things and said some horrible stuff.
Starting point is 01:03:00 And they had the audio of it. So they played that. And then they were talking to the journalist about like how how crazy he was you know i just found it so fascinating that like even in that time you know no matter who you know it was like the same with elected officials or politicians or you know uh studio heads like things didn't leak all the time you know now you don't that would never happen someone can get away with there used to be yeah and nowadays with like social media it's like i mean you can't get away you can't that would never happen yeah there used to be yeah and nowadays with like social media it's like i mean you can't get away with you can't say or do anything yeah it was really interesting to hear and the audio was pretty like wow that was really wow that's gnarly
Starting point is 01:03:33 yeah yeah yeah it was great mrizana's great in it she was a huge whistleblower yeah amazing yeah have any of your siblings ever like been up for the same role or like fought for the same role or there was one thing that like one got that you really wanted? No, not really. I mean That's good. My sisters Alexis, I think like, oh I once did at the Tiffany
Starting point is 01:03:55 Theater, I did Rocky Horror Picture Show and I played Frank and Ferger. Oh fun. And it was like clear that Alexis should have played the part that I was in. I think one of the reviews the critics wrote, it appears that they cast the wrong archette in this show. I make a really ugly drag queen. I saw an interview with Patricia and Julia Roberts so recently, and I found it really interesting because Patricia was telling her how the original Pretty Woman script was not what you saw. It was really dark.
Starting point is 01:04:25 And Patricia auditioned for it. And I think Julia Roberts was auditioning for it. And then I don't know exactly what happened. But then Julia Roberts ended up getting the part. And it turned in from this old dark script. In a week, it went to a new production company. They rewrote the whole script and became that that pretty woman, the romantic rom-com with Gary Marshall once he came on. But the original version was like super dark and depressing. I would love to actually see it.
Starting point is 01:04:52 They should remake it. Yeah. Right? Yeah. I thought that was really interesting. Yeah, that would be cool. Yeah. I like that.
