I mean, Hulu has all of those shows, too,

Back in studio here at Podcast One, another Shenanigans. Today, we're getting into Shenanigans. I have another special co-host because, as you know, Janet's a working lady now. So the only way I could get this guy into studio with me, I'm going to announce the guest first,
Starting point is 00:01:51 was to have the gorgeous and talented Chanel West Coast. What's up? Thank you, girl. Nice to meet you. You too. Thanks for being here. Well, we've established. We've already met, kind of.
Starting point is 00:01:59 We were just drunk. Yeah, we were tipsy. Yeah, it was the MTV Awards. I think it was like at shore bar yeah the after party party yeah i was definitely drunk yeah it was like a two second exchange so we're good but my special co-host today is mr james kennedy what what how are you good good i can't believe i'm like a co-host now i've like upgraded in the podcast world well if i couldn't get you to be a guest i figured maybe you'd at least co-host and chanel west coast in the building yeah i love you
Starting point is 00:02:31 james yeah we're lit we're out here today it's funny on um sunday i was or not this sunday i think it was the last sunday i was at the chargers game and stilo was there nice yeah i sent a selfie to james oh my god i honestly had like a fanboy moment with Stilo one time. Wait, you've never met him? Yeah, I met him one time. He won't remember this exchange. I was at Tao in Hollywood and I saw Stilo by the bar. He was wearing this rockstar leather jacket. I was like, alright, I'm going to go say hi.
Starting point is 00:02:59 I hate it when fans do this to me at Sir, but I did exactly what everyone does. Oh hey, what's up? I'm James. I introduced myself as if I didn't even know who he was, but yeah, I know who Steelo is, man. But then do you remember last year, the MTV Awards, and we all went to catch after, and he was there with Michael B. Jordan. Yeah, I remember that.
Starting point is 00:03:16 I remember that. That was a big moment. Yes. Michael B. Jordan in the room. That was big. That was a big moment. I got dared to go up to him and give him my phone number. Wait, to who? Steilo or Michael B. Jordan?
Starting point is 00:03:26 Michael B. Jordan That's so funny The girls were like you won't go up to him And I'm like I think he has a girlfriend And they like dared me and I was like I don't turn down a dare Never heard from him But I think he does have a girlfriend I have no idea I've known him for a while
Starting point is 00:03:40 Cause him and Sterling are actually best friends Since they were little kids They grew up together in Chicago and both had big Hollywood dreams and both made it. But yeah, so it's really crazy because I've known Michael B. Jordan since way before he was doing the big movies and everything. So it's really cool to watch him from a friend's perspective
Starting point is 00:03:58 become the person who you're getting dared to go up to now and ask for... Yeah, anyways. Yeah, totally. That's it. So, okay, you were born the person who, like, you're getting dared to go up to now and ask for, yeah. That's sick. Yeah, totally. That's sick. So, okay, you were born in L.A. Yes. That's the West Coast name.
Starting point is 00:04:11 But where did you get having West Coast as, like, your stage name? Oh, my God. It is the most random story. It happened by accident. Okay. So, this makes me sound old, but in my space days. I'm older than you, so. Oh, you are?
Starting point is 00:04:25 How old are you? Yeah, I'm 34. Oh, okay. You look so young, too. Yeah, thank you MySpace days... I'm older than you, so... Oh, you are? How old are you? I'm 34. Oh, okay. You look so young, too. Yeah, thank you, Botox. I'm 36. That's what I always say. I get Botox in my forehead. Yep. It helps so much. It does.
Starting point is 00:04:33 So, yeah. So, wait. What were we talking about? Your name. Oh, yeah. So, back in MySpace days, I was trying to figure out... You know, you make, like, a URL, and you put, like, either numbers or make some little numbers or, like, make, like, some little, like, you know, baby girl, like, with, like, some numbers. Oh, I was cutie baby 23. So, yeah. Exactly. Like, it was, like, some, like, cheesy name like that.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Oh, totally. So I wanted mine because I had a music page. I wanted it to be Chanel. And at the time I was just going to go by, Chanel's my middle name. Right. So I didn't really know, like, I was just going to go by Chanel, like a one-name thing, you know? Right. Like Madonna. Like the bride. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Yeah, you know, like Prince, Madonna. It's like a one-name thing. So I couldn't figure out a URL. Like every fucking, I'm a concursor, yeah, every fucking Chanel. I always say, you can say whatever the fuck you want. Okay, cool. Every Chanel was taken. So I was, like, just sitting there, and I'm just like, I don't know, I'm from the West Coast.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Like, let me just put Chanel West Coast. Oh, my God. And I just randomly put it. And so then people started leaving me comments. And even friends in real life would be like, yo, what up, West Coast? And I'm like, that's not my name. And everybody just started kind of calling me that. Like, it was my name.
Starting point is 00:05:41 And so then when I got on Fantasy Factory with Rob, he loves to give his friends nicknames in the first place. So it was, like, very convenient for him that, that like I had this kind of, you know, already nicknamed through my MySpace. And so then he was like, you should just go by Chanel West Coast. I was like, okay, cool. And it kind of just stuck with me from there. But yeah, like it was an accident pretty much. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:59 So basically. Sounds like no accident to me. Yeah. Well, it was supposed to be like, then it became like an artist's name, you know? And then when I started doing Ridiculousness, they were like, it was supposed to be like, then it became like an artist's name, you know? Right. And then when I started doing Ridiculousness, they were like, do you want to go by your real,
Starting point is 00:06:08 I was like, well, no, I'm going to still go by my artist's name, you know? And yeah, so Chanel West Coast. I love that.
Starting point is 00:06:15 I was curious where it came from. So it's funny because like so many people like call each other by like their Instagram handles and whatnot. So this was like,
Starting point is 00:06:22 you're way ahead of the game. Yeah. Do you, on a music page on MySpace, did you still have like a top eight? Yeah. And then I made it like the top. Remember you could change it and make it like the top like fucking 30. And I was like, okay, now this is good because I can fit everybody.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Right. Don't got to hurt any feelings. Hear any friends bitching at me like, why is she number one or two? And I'm like five. Yeah. So yeah. So I had like the whole whole like the biggest top thing you could change it to i remember once i could do that i was like let me just put as many fucking friends
Starting point is 00:06:49 in my top thing as i can yeah and i loved it when you could add more because it was like from 8 to 12 to 16 it kept like adding yeah but then it was like it wasn't as special because you're like well everyone's in your top 30 yeah no but it's like you know you gotta you know here in la everybody wants to be top 30 they're trying trying to be top 30 up here. It's like, no, you're 31. You didn't make the cut. Come on. Come on now.
Starting point is 00:07:11 I literally am obsessed with your laugh. It is the most adorable laugh. I have such an obnoxious laugh, but it's funny because ridiculousness is in the top five shows that I've wanted to be a guest on. For that reason, I'm like, she has the cutest laugh. And I'm like, I want to laugh with her. Same here though. Same here. I've been, I've been, I've been in line longer than you.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I'm already talking to Rob about that on the phone. I'll put in the word for both of you guys. I honestly, like I have so, you know, so many friends. Yeah. Like, yo, put in the word for me. So it's really up to Rob at the end of the day. So I'll put in the word for you. And like, hopefully, you know, he like really likes you like i thought you pick all the people oh yeah
Starting point is 00:07:47 i wish um i would only pick all the artists i want to collaborate with you're just head of like no but um but thank you i appreciate that because it's funny you said you haven't i don't think you have an obnoxious laugh i've heard it before it's like a cackle a little bit but i have a giggle and a cackle it depends how funny something I have a giggle and a cackle. It depends how funny something is. Yeah. No, it's the same with me. But people will say that I have a lot of haters on my laugh, too.
Starting point is 00:08:12 And they'll say, oh, my God, your laugh is so obnoxious. And I'm like, I can't control it. Right? That's just how I laugh. Exactly. You know? Right. So I don't mind your laugh, though. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Yeah. Okay. Thanks. Funny story, though, about Rob. So back way before Vanderppump rules i worked at villa blanca i still worked there when the show started so this is like probably 2011 ish and i remember he came into villa blanca and he sat out on the patio i don't remember who he was with but he left like a hundred dollar tip and i never forgot that and i was like the receipt i was like
Starting point is 00:08:42 oh my god look rob dyrdek and he like left me a really good tip and he was so nice yeah that's very rob like yeah but it was him and drake those are like the two people i remember oh and tyler perry oh nice they were like drake how did drake leave oh what no drake always left 100 too okay cool yeah but this is back in like this is before days like back then now he's leaving like 10 racks. Oh yeah. But it was like, they would always come in for lunch. It was just like a regular thing. And so I started like,
Starting point is 00:09:11 Drake became like a regular customer. And I actually heard that Drake watches Vanderpump Rules. Like him and Rihanna used to watch it together. And then I know that he has still watched it. Isn't that fun to find out? Oh yeah. People who you're like a mega fan of
Starting point is 00:09:24 watch your show. Totally. Because Kelly Rowland said that beyonce she's like yeah when beyonce was pregnant with blue ivy all she watched was i was like what what beyonce watches me like i was like i literally almost like started crying because it's like i did like talent shows performing destiny's child you know that's a trip that's a fucking yeah like it was like just to hear that i was just like what and there's been like a pregnant beyonce with ridiculousness no like i just have yeah just having that visual in your head you know oh my god that's so tight and like just like a couple other random people like one that was so random that was like that was like yo i love your show was mystical and i'm was mystical. And I'm like, mystical the rapper? I'm like, what? You're mystical.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Like, I'm like, I fucking was listening to you at, like, the seventh grade school dance, like, twerking at the seventh grade school dance to Shake Your Ass. Oh, my God. Yes. Totally. So, it's like, it's really cool to, like, get those people, you know, watching you on TV. It's insane. Like, the list of people who watch our show. Like, Rihanna is posted about it.
Starting point is 00:10:24 I watch your show. Like, Iihanna is posting about it. I watch this since the beginning. I love Vanderpump Rules. I just ask them, like, when is it coming back on? I need some good TV shows right now. Seriously. I know we don't know. I didn't know that. I didn't know that. What do you mean? I told you before I watched it. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's how we met, actually. That's how we met. That's how we met. I forgot. That was a good, that's
Starting point is 00:10:40 a good story. Do you remember what happened? When the bird pooped on you. Wait, wait. I think i've heard this story was it outside of nightingale or like poppy or something no it was outside of um what's that restaurant on sunset like australia yeah yeah and i literally like a bird just like shit on me and he walked by and i'm like i think i said to you i was like wait are you james yeah and i'm like sorry i'm literally just wiping off the bird shit i'm good luck yeah exactly that was the best and your friend ran in to go get napkins she was like oh my god oh my god that's so fun that's a really funny way to meet yeah memorable
Starting point is 00:11:20 yeah i'll never forget that i'll never forget that you were wearing like a little yellow dress like i remember like everything that's so funny how long ago was that probably a couple years yeah yeah gotcha time flies time it really does so have you guys ever talked about doing a collab together with music we have i don't know why we haven't made it happen yet like let's do it in like the next couple weeks finally 100. 100%. 100%. Get ready, everybody. Yeah. It's about to be crazy. Yeah. So what were you working on this morning, James?
Starting point is 00:11:49 You sent me a dope track. I've been working in the studio with lots of people. Like, I've been working with some guys I've known, some guys I haven't known. I don't know. I can't really say much about it. Right. But I'm really excited to release all this new stuff. I was in the studio with one of the guys from ASAP Mob the other day and it was like nice it was just like you know
Starting point is 00:12:08 when you're in a studio with a certain artist and then you're just bouncing ideas back and forth and you guys are so inspired by everything that's going on around you and you're actually getting things done like productive so today was a very productive day i'm very stoked on what i love that and i just want to add it's something that I say to you in person a lot, but you haven't been on my show, so I haven't been able to say it on my show yet.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Although I have talked about you on my show, but I'm just, I'm so proud of you for how well you've been doing. Like, I mean, who goes to the music studio at 8 a.m.?
Starting point is 00:12:35 Someone who is dedicated and not partying the night before, you know? Yeah, I'm a big believer on daytime sessions. Like, people look at me like, I'm a fucking lunatic. No, you know, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:12:45 So I used to be signed to this producer, Polo Da Don, who's mega. Works with everybody. Yeah, I've heard of Polo. Polo loves to work all night long. And it was like, I made some of the greatest connections back then. I mean, I was in the studio with the biggest names, the biggest people, and it was fun. But it also was embarrassing to be falling asleep in front of them. It was like he would work all night long.
Starting point is 00:13:04 One time he woke me up at 5 a.m. and he's like yo yo nelly needs a girl on this track and i literally go in the booth with nelly and i'm like half asleep so nervous like wait what and like what but like that like it was cool and i met a lot of cool people but i i never felt like i i was at my most creative when i was tired like that, you know? And so now I love like working in the daytime, fat cup of coffee, like go to the studio like sober. And that's when I feel like I write the best stuff. You know, I can record fucked up, but as far as writing, not as good. That is a good point because I've recorded a lot of stuff like late at night
Starting point is 00:13:41 when I'm like high as fuck, but not writing. Yeah, writing is harder. It harder yeah i can't think of there's like a there's like a there's a mode that artists and creative people get into like certain times like maybe it's like a little bit of weed or something but then you go into this like boom like everything is just fluid and so fire you know what i mean and that happens to me when i'm not fucking drunk that happens to me when i'm not fucked up that happens to me you know maybe a little bit of weed but like that's just to unlock the senses do you know i mean and then i'm just like work work work today i worked for five hours and i was just like looking at the screen my eyes are just tearing down you know and i was like oh i gotta go to the podcast now like you know
Starting point is 00:14:17 because in the studios you know i'll go there in the mornings i'll go there in the morning sometimes and then i'll leave and it's just pitch black outside i'm like where the fuck did my day go yeah like i got a whole bunch of new music in my fucking drums. Totally. Yeah. It's crazy. It's crazy. It's my favorite thing to do, honestly.
Starting point is 00:14:29 The last song I did, the one more time I have my first music video we're releasing in a few weeks. Nice. And we wrote that song at 11 a.m. Yeah, exactly. Like, I feel like some of the best songs are like daytime written songs. It's like a rap song. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:43 That's like, it's like a different story. You know what I mean? Right. You could like say anything stupid and it's like, and repetitive and's like a rap song. Okay, that's like, it's like a different story. You know what I mean? Right, right. You could like say anything stupid and it's like, and repetitive and it's a rap song. Right.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Yeah. But to make, I think like real music, like pop hits, I think it's more of like a daytime thing. Totally. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Well, I went down a rabbit hole of your music videos last night. You have so many dope videos and so many cool looks. Thanks. Which one would you say is like one of your favorite favorite looks or music video songs? My most recent music video, Anchors, is...
Starting point is 00:15:12 Is that the one with the pink wig? No. Oh, because you posted something with a pink... It was on your story last night, I saw. It was long pink hair and it was like, new video tonight or something. Oh, that was just a video of me rapping in the studio. Oh, that video. Yes, I did watch that. That was dope. Oh rapping oh that video yes i did watch that that was a snippet that was sick yeah yeah i'm trying to it's funny i'm like you guys want me to drop this but i don't even have a hook yet but um
Starting point is 00:15:33 but the verses were so fire i was like yo i just want to give them a little sneak peek yeah the verses were fire that was well done on that but yeah my probably my most recent video anchors that's just like a song i'm like really proud of um i mean as far as looks in a video though like style looks my song carl was like paying you know like homage to like carl lagerfeld yes i loved that one it was like the craziest looks i've ever had in a video um so that's yeah that's definitely one of my faves yeah i love it call was like getting some inspo i was like oh, you have a lot of really cool looks. Definitely. So what are you working on right now?
Starting point is 00:16:10 The main thing I'm working on is my clothing line. Oh, sick. Yeah, it's called LOL Cartel. Oh, my God. I laugh every time I say it. Which was actually inspired by Redman. So in my one music video, Sharon Stoned, him and Michael Rapaport played detectives. And there's like a part where, you know, this was total freestyle improv.
Starting point is 00:16:32 And they're acting like detectives and like, who's she with? Who's she working for? And Redman's like, I know who she with. She with the LOL cartel. We were all on set dying. We had to hold it in, it in you know quiet while they're filming but like everybody was dying laughing and so it just like really fit me and i was like trying to think of the clothing line name when i was working on my line with my partner or whatever
Starting point is 00:16:53 and i was like what should the name be and i'm like dude lol cartel kind of is just like my thing like it's like i'm known for laughing right and i think it's like a cool name because it's like it's cute and badass at the same time you know and it's like that's what the brand is about it's like it's all about positivity it's not just lol like laugh out loud it's like live out loud love out loud and we're like we're all about promoting positivity but also like being a badass at the same time because i think kids these days like they think it's like cool to be like negative and like talk shit and be like haters and shit and it's like no like it's cool to be positive and like happy like yeah you know what i mean like that's that's a cool thing so that's like really what i'm trying to promote with the brand and it's unisex clothing so it's for girls and guys it's like street wear you know the t-shirts
Starting point is 00:17:33 hoodies hats beanies love socks stuff like that we have koozies also no way which um yeah like my fan base loves koozies um my dad loves koozies and my dad loves you. So I'm definitely going to get one of those. I'll get you some for your dad. Koozies for dad. Yeah. That's literally like one of my dad's favorite shows. So he has been a big fan of yours for like a decade. Nice.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Shout out to that. Who hasn't really? He hasn't. Oh, thank you. I mean, I have been. That makes me feel good. How long have you guys been on now too? Because I feel like I've been a fan of you guys a long time also.
Starting point is 00:18:03 So our show, we shot our pilot in 2011, but we weren't on air until 2013. So we've been doing this for eight years, but on air for six. Oh, my God. It's been crazy. You guys have basically, because I remember, I started watching your show right when Ridiculousness started. I remember this because right when that show started, I actually didn't have a couch at the time. And my friend was like, dude, you're on TV and don't have a couch. What's wrong with you? And I was like, I need Louboutins. It sounds like Tom and Ariana. No, I was like, I was like,
Starting point is 00:18:34 I was like, I need Louboutins. I was like, I need cute shoes and purses. I'm like, nobody sees my house. They see me out what I'm wearing. And you know, I was like, who cares if I have a couch? My friend was like, dude, you're ridiculous. You need to get a couch. I was watching Vanderpump Rules, chilling on the floor of my living room. That's hilarious. I love that. That's been an ongoing joke this summer with Tom and Ariana. They have this gorgeous
Starting point is 00:18:56 $2.1 million house with no furniture. Just a mansion with no furniture. Wait, really? Why? Because they just... They're taking their time to pick it yeah i mean they were just like you know what we we have mattress we sleep on they have a couch and then they have like a little table but it's like they have a five bedroom gorgeous house i mean it's coming together but it's funny because like everyone bought houses this year and like
Starting point is 00:19:21 either bought them furnished i didn't know but you bought a dope car you got a really sick car wait what did you say but what'd you say i said you're young though yeah like he's the youngest one on the show yeah exactly so it's like you can't like compare yourself to other people who are like years ahead and we've been on it a little longer than you right i wasn't comparing myself i was trying to be like oh yeah yeah but most people either bought them furnished or furnished them in like the first week and tom and ariana was like six months later and we're like so i feel like tom tom takes his time with everything everything responding to a text yeah yeah text me eight days later like did you know i'm like well now i'm in australia i needed
Starting point is 00:20:01 that last week when i was in LA. But their house is beautiful. It's just funny when you said that because it's like but how do you not have furniture when you're on a television show? It's not a priority to everyone. Sometimes it's not. You get your lubes. You get your parties that way.
Starting point is 00:20:18 I feel them though because I just got a house too and I'm same thing. I've been taking my time. I finally own this house. I want it to be congrats yeah where is that um well I don't want to tell me even though they got me on the what is it the Hollywood hip-hop tours you guys this shit is hilarious oh my god they stopped in front of my house and I was like yo what the I was like what are you doing here and then I hear I hear people on the little bus like we love you chanel i'm like yo they got me on the hollywood hip-hop tours and i i even i did a snap about this i'm like this is hilarious i'm like well shout out
Starting point is 00:20:53 to the hollywood hip-hop tours and like i feel like i can barely get recognition in the hip-hop game but clearly they recognize me as a hip-hop artist because they've got me on their fucking hip-hop tour list yeah 100 i love that that's actually mental think about that for a second like what right that's crazy so i don't know um before you finish that thought i wanted to ask you i don't know if you guys have heard of racketing but it's something my girlfriend jamie was telling me about and it's like my new obsession it's a free member-based loyalty program that lets you earn up to 40 cash back at literally over 2500 stores so it's like places that you would shop at already like you know macy's best buy nike like there's literally so many it's always

I decided to go to Palm Springs and get like a vacay home because I'm single.
Starting point is 00:22:16 I live at the beach right now and I love where I live. All of my friends are all like either married or engaged or on their way and they all bought houses in the valley. I feel you. And I'm like, yeah. And I'm from the the valley too so all my friends live in the valley yeah it's like i'm running out of friends to hang out with let's put it that we should hang out because it's like i literally all my friends are like married with kids or even you know if they're not married they have kids or and then like my one best my main best friend who was like still single she moved to the oc so now i'm like oh my god like now you live so far from me yeah you know and she's like busy with like her career now too
Starting point is 00:22:49 so it's like i'm like running out of friends like right well i'm here available and single yeah we should go out yeah yeah hit me out i'm fun are you're not single though you're still in a relationship yes not single congrats yeah Keeping it going strong. Yes. Strong. It is going strong. We love it. We love Raquel. We love Raquel. I did start seeing someone recently, but he doesn't live here, so it's like, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:12 it's like a nightmare. Sheena's got a boyfriend now, people. No, it's not. Not my boyfriend. Low key. Not my boyfriend. Nah. Not yet, at least.
Starting point is 00:23:19 But. Thank God. Has he made his way onto the show? Thank God. No, no. I get jealous sometimes, honestly, still. I'm like, who is this guy? Who is this guy?
Starting point is 00:23:26 Like, no, this isn't okay. Whose accent is better, the British or the Aussie? Definitely British. Definitely British. I don't know. You know, Australian accents are cute in the beginning, but then they're going to get old. Trust me. It's like half New Zealand, half Australia.
Starting point is 00:23:38 He was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. So it's like a hybrid accent. I love accents. I do, too. I love accents. It's pretty cool. I had a Scottish boyfriend, but that one was really a hybrid accent. I love accents. I do too. I love accents. It's pretty cool. So do I. I had a Scottish boyfriend
Starting point is 00:23:47 but that one was really hard to understand. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, Scottish. When we first started dating I literally was like can you call me on FaceTime so I can like read your lips?
Starting point is 00:23:56 Because I couldn't understand like half the shit he was saying so that was a tough one. Uh huh. I still liked it though. I do too. I could picture that. That's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:24:03 No, there's so many times where he'll say something and I'm like can you say that two more times because one more I'm still not going to get it yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:24:09 but I love accents they're hot me too yeah so anyway so James let's see there's a few things
Starting point is 00:24:17 I wanted to talk to you about as well you can't say what you're doing too much with music can you say if you are working on stuff with La La though because I know people would love to know that
Starting point is 00:24:24 yeah I've got a new song coming out with lala it'll be like debuted this season on uh van pump and yeah it's called ride with me it's like you know ride or dies and uh it's fire it's fire it's like it's like it's a radio like trapeze kind of beat but it's got like a nice hook and then it just drops with fat base sick yeah i love that have you seen his new car no what is it oh my god it is so dope it's uh what an i8 yeah i got a matte black i8 oh okay it's pretty sick it's pretty sick it's so fire i love it i got he just like he just made a face like he just was like dreaming about it like i know yeah he's envisioning it honestly it's honestly ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Whenever I get in my car every morning, I'm just like, what did I do? What did I do, dude? Yeah, but you know. I've been working hard on stuff, so I thought, why not? Since I'm going to be fucking sober all the time, I may as well be driving something nice. What am I going to do? Whip around my old 3 Series? No, you've got to congratulate yourself when you work hard.
Starting point is 00:25:25 No, I love that that so you're driving to the Lakers game tonight perfect oh yeah we're going to the Lakers game tonight and it's not like I'm buying some
Starting point is 00:25:30 bust down AP like yo bust down AP oh my god do you have a bust down AP shut up no I don't
Starting point is 00:25:38 I feel like such a fake rapper now because I don't have a bust down yeah I mean I ate and the bust down is too much I can't be that guy do. Yeah. I mean, I ate and the bus down's too much. I can't be that guy. Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:25:48 Yeah, yeah. I'm more low. It's low-key. It's pretty low-key. Yeah, but it's pretty dope. At nighttime, it's very stealthy. Yeah. So he picks up me and one of my girlfriends one night.
Starting point is 00:25:57 We pull up to Craig's, and it's like, oh, I'm like, James is totally waiting for the paparazzi to notice that there is a dope car than to see who gets out of the dope car. Sitting in the car, we're like, no, we're not getting out yet. No, no, no, just one second. Hold up, hold up, wait a minute. And then the doors fly open and they're like, who's that?
Starting point is 00:26:16 Yeah, if I'm going to have my moment, I'm going to do it. I'm going to have my moment. I've got to do it at least once. Get it out of my system. I'm here for it. I was like, can you pick us up? That's nice. I know, I love it. I need a it out of my system. I'm here for it. I was like, can you pick us up? That's nice. I know.
Starting point is 00:26:26 I love it. I need a new car soon, honestly. Yeah? What would you get? I'm just getting my same car again because I like it. But like a newer version? Yeah. Sick.
Starting point is 00:26:35 It's a Porsche Macan. I love those. Well, I'm not going to actually, I'm not going to say what color I'm going to get. Yeah. Even my friends. Porsche Macan? Let's just say I'm getting a unique color. Oh, it's custom.
Starting point is 00:26:44 And my friend was, a couple of my friends was like, everybody's gonna know it's you when you drive. I was like, who fucking cares? Right? I'm like, yo,
Starting point is 00:26:50 it's like a bright color. Oh, I can picture it. They're right though. I was like, yo, I'm a rapper. I was like, I need something like this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:59 With the matching color rims. Yeah. It's gonna be cute. Oh my God. It comes in January. Oh wow. That's exciting. That's a fun way to start the new year. Yeah. I love going to be cute. Oh my God. It comes in January. So. Oh wow. That's exciting. That's a fun way to start the new year.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Yeah. I love cars. I'm obsessed with cars honestly. Like and shoes like Yeezys. I used to be more obsessed with shoes but I'm not as obsessed with them as I used to be. Yeah. We have matching Yeezys.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Yeah we do. Yeah we do. Yeah we do. I got these new clouds right now. So fire. Oh. Nice. Wait those are dope. do. I got these new clouds right now, so fire. Oh. Nice. Wait, those are dope.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Thanks. I haven't seen those yet. They're like sky blue and white. Yeah. Sky blue's like my favorite color. Yeah. Because it matches your eyes? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:34 It just makes them pop, you know? I like sky blue. Turquoise. Yeah. I like turquoise. I do, too. Like a Tiffany blue. That's like my favorite color.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Oh, Tiffany blue goes hard. Yeah. That's like the accent color in both of my places, my apartment and my house. It's like the teal turquoise. Yeah. I love that color. I love too. Like a Tiffany blue. That's like my favorite color. Oh, Tiffany blue goes hard. Yeah. That's like the accent color in both of my places, my apartment and my house. It's like the teal turquoise. Yeah. I love that color. I love it. Since I was a little girl, that's like my favorite color.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Yeah. Aside from pink, I guess. Same. Oh my God. Same. And then like clothes, it's like black, but teal and pink are, love it. So I was looking at your Wikipedia last night just for, you know, some info, but I never want to trust Wikipedia because I'm like, when I go on mine, sometimes it says I'm like three inches shorter, four years older, whatever.
Starting point is 00:28:11 Because weirdos like go and change it. Totally. I don't know how they even have access. Yeah. How's it allowed? But one of the things I saw was you were on that show, The Hard Times of RJ Berger. Was it? I remember I auditioned for that.
Starting point is 00:28:24 I was like, I hadn't heard of that show in so long and when i saw that on yours i was like i can picture like having sides for like that show but i didn't remember like what the role was or anything um oh i thought you meant like you auditioned for that no no i don't think it was your role it was just like when i saw the name of that show i was like wait that sounds so familiar i'm like i totally auditioned for this show yeah it was fun it's shot at a high familiar. I'm like, I totally auditioned for this show. Yeah, it was fun. It was shot at a high school in the Valley that, like, a bunch of my friends had went to. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 00:28:50 But, um. Was that the first thing acting-wise that you had done? No, I did, like, a couple, like, acting things when I was little. I actually, um, it's funny. I was, like, a lead role in a music video when I was a little girl. And it shot at the studio where we film we film ridiculousness now no way yeah like because we we used to film in hollywood but then we moved to the valley and so when whenever i pulled up to the new studio i was like wait this looks so familiar that is mental yeah and then it hit me
Starting point is 00:29:15 and i was like oh my god like this is where i filmed that video when i was a little girl that's so crazy yeah and i love shit like that i love shit like that it's very yeah it felt very full circle well it's funny because like when i did the music video when i was little it was on a school day so we had to do like a little bit of like homeschooling and the one room where we did the homeschooling was uh right now i'm pretty sure that's sterling's dressing room oh my god that's so crazy yeah it's so funny because i'm like oh my god that room was where we did the homeschooling and like now it's our dressing room yeah that's so and the building seat because i'm like oh my god that room was where we did the homeschooling and like now it's our dressing room yeah that's so and the building seat because i was like a tiny kid i mean i'm still tiny but like i was like a real small kid and i'm like whoa this building felt so so much bigger
Starting point is 00:29:53 i thought it was like like 10 stories but it's only like three stories um but yeah so i did a little bit of acting like as a kid my mom really tried to push me into it but like she was like i feel like she tried to push me so much and i've always been very rebellious that it was more something like you know i had to do on my own like getting into music and acting like i had to like go out and do it on my own rather than be pushed like as a kid you know my mom's like how do you know like music is the thing you've got to like figure out so many things when you're a kid before you like actually like pick music as it like i remember being so artistic in so many different ways and then like i finally went to music at like 16 but like i was like why the fuck wasn't i playing piano since i was like four years old like
Starting point is 00:30:31 dummy you know yeah yeah i should have yeah yeah it's crazy but i had to do it that way i had to do it that way yeah wait so do you play piano yeah i mean like i mess around on the midi i've been doing that but like can you read music like no i can't read music but like you know my core progression game strong yeah no you're very talented reading music is so easy i like i can read music but it's like i'm like literally like i'm like going blind so it's like i still have to write out i still have to write out the letters because it's like you know so small yeah um you know i'm so used to Pro Tools and Ableton that it's all a grid for me. Sometimes I have to just step away from my laptop,
Starting point is 00:31:09 close my eyes, and really listen to what I'm actually making because it can just get technical. You can literally make a song with your eyes closed if you know the shortcuts. A lot of producers don't even play instruments. Sound designs, it's like, Oh, totally.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Push a button, you got a guitar. You push a button, you got you got this it's like we want or play or they play piano by ear a lot right i'm assuming you do like when you make beats and stuff oh yeah yeah yeah and i kind of prefer it that way honestly like i can just i can literally like look at the piano and like hum it in my head and just like guess the note and it is fucking the note like 90% of the time so i'm pretty good with it yeah well speaking of things that you're uh making and working on are you gonna do a remix one more time so we can do that together for our appearance in november yeah of for what for our appearance that we're doing yeah yeah i know you wanted to talk about that yeah yes i've got to do that i've
Starting point is 00:32:01 got to do that i've got oh i actually really do have the pieces. I'm just procrastinating and lagging. No, we still have time. I'll get it done. I'll get it done. Okay, so November, we have BravoCon. Yeah, BravoCon, everybody. I know. It's like crazy.
Starting point is 00:32:17 With BravoCon. Yeah, okay, so they're doing a thing this year. It's the first year where they have like all of the bravo liberties it's basically the way i'm understanding it is it's kind of like comic-con it's like a convention with all the bravo liberties and then like those of us who have merch can have like a merch table and it's like a three day i think it's all weekend it's a three-day extravaganza yeah yeah so it like sold out in the first like 30 seconds i guess like some scalper like bought all the tickets it was like reselling them but what was it they were only selling like 9 000 tickets or
Starting point is 00:32:52 whatever it was so like all of these people were really upset about it so i know they were trying to do like some giveaways and whatnot so other people can go to the event but it sounds like it's gonna be huge and next year they're gonna need to figure out a better way to do it but it's um november 15th weekend in new york are you gonna have a merch table there you know i'm gonna have like a banner with like my store up on it available you know i mean i don't like push all the merch on people i'm gonna be djing already so it's gonna be you guys get your own booths or is there like a vanderpump i honestly don't know. They're individual ones. Okay, that's dope. Yeah. So you guys can like promote
Starting point is 00:33:26 like anything you want. Anything, yeah. Yeah. And plus I'm going to be DJing all three nights after and we're doing like a little club night after. Yeah, wait,
Starting point is 00:33:34 what club are we going to be at? Friday at Public House November 15th. That's right, Public House. Yeah, shout out Mark Cuddy. He'll love that. Oh my God, Mark Cuddy has the biggest
Starting point is 00:33:42 crush on you, Sina. Wait, what? No, I'm just kidding. Oh, I'm going to tell him you said that. I ran God, Mark Cuddy has the biggest crush on you, Sheena. Wait, what? No, I'm just kidding. Oh, I'm going to tell him you said that. I ran into him in Vegas like a month ago at, where was it? Like XS or Encore Beach or like one of those places. Yeah. But I mean, well, thanks for the hookup.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Hey, Mark. Hey. He's such a nice guy. No, I'm excited. It's fun. I mean, it's cool to the hookup. He's such a nice guy. No, I'm excited. It's fun. Like, I mean, it's cool to do like your individual appearances and stuff. Yeah. Like, obviously, you're the only one making the money usually get paid more than doing
Starting point is 00:34:11 a joint one. Yeah. But it's fun to do joint ones, especially like with James. If like we have a song together or something, you know, he's DJing. And I, I will never turn down an opportunity to stand on a table bar or DJ booth and perform a song. Yeah. So I'm like
Starting point is 00:34:25 that'll be fun like we're both going to be in new york for the same event like why not make some extra money and do a little appearance it's going to be lit yeah that's dope i've only done like two gigs with sterling but they were really really fun that's it yeah yeah both of you guys combined it's like madness yo it was just like it was lit i just so many of these gigs i hear oh one was in texas and then texas goes hard i can't remember the other one that's my strongest fan base but i mean i guess it's the biggest state so it's like obviously um but yeah like they they you know they love us in texas over there yeah i love that i want to um acl have you guys ever been to that no i haven't been it sounds i wanted it looks like so much fun we're gonna perform it that's it like i'm not gonna like fly out to
Starting point is 00:35:08 acl just to like yeah what are you exactly like i'm performing right yeah hit me up i'm ready to go it's funny i remember i missed like three coachella's i was like no i'm not going i was like i'm gonna make music until i'm on stage and then i was like all right you know what i've missed fucking three coachella's now i was like i was like'm kind of over this. I want to go and enjoy myself now. We'll still keep working towards it, but I'm going to go now. And then I finally started going. And I'm like, I still haven't made my way on to. I performed at a couple of Coachella parties, which has been dope.
Starting point is 00:35:37 See, that's dope. Yeah. I mean, some people just go for the parties. Exactly. A lot of people do, actually. Yeah. And now that I just bought a house in Palm Springs, I'm like, like okay so i'll go weekend one and like oh i'm staying at your house for sure like i gotta count that i love how he said that he's like oh perfect lock me in now
Starting point is 00:35:53 perfect okay you can have the front that's the hardest thing about coachella is finding somewhere to stay i know unless you're buying your own fucking house but then it's like okay yeah but i'm like so here's the thing i'm'm going to have, I think it can sleep 10 comfortably. I mean, if we wanted to go crazy or we could, but I'm like, no, I'm going to do 10 of us at my house. And I'm like, look, no one has to pay for a house. Usually it's what, like a thousand bucks a person for a house for the weekend and all that.
Starting point is 00:36:18 So I'm like, everyone gets a free place to stay, stock my fridge and pay for a car service. I think that's a pretty good deal car service that is a great deal yeah hey yeah i'm not gonna charge my friends to stay at my house i thought when i bought this house i'm like yeah i'm gonna airbnb it and then i buy all this like really nice furniture i start going every week and i'm like wait i don't want other people like touching my stuff and sleeping in my bed. No. So now I'm like, well, I bought a house in Palm Springs that I guess is just a vacation. I mean, if I wanted to, eventually I could rent it out.
Starting point is 00:36:53 But just the thought. You're not already renting it out. No. The thought of someone else sleeping in my bed is just weird to me. To us. To me, for free. But I want it available. You've got a hair on my nose. Don't mind me.
Starting point is 00:37:02 It's like driving. It's like I see it and I feel it. Sorry. No, you've hair on my nose. Don't mind me. It's like driving. It's like I see it and I feel it. Sorry. No, you got to do Airbnb. I know, but my mom does Airbnb. She's like obsessed with it.
Starting point is 00:37:13 She's like, I make so much money. She has like this little brochure she made and she calls it the Bohemian Retreat. Wow. That's fire.
Starting point is 00:37:19 But she makes great money and you know, like there's been like one or two weird people but for the most part she's had all these like really nice chill guests. What do you mean weird people? What do they think? Just like and you know like there's been like one or two weird people but for the most part she's had all these like really nice chill guests yeah it's just like you know like a little bit like i mean my mom was in vegas oh my they're getting rowdy you know like a couple people who like just like were out the whole time she's like the one person like never even came
Starting point is 00:37:38 back yeah and like but that's hilarious it's great it's great money and it like, if you don't live out there, people are always renting in Palm Springs. Like, I'm always looking for a place to rent in Palm Springs just for like a little weekend. Yeah, and it's on a golf course. I mean, it's a pool. Great view. Like, huge, like, windows. It's like, it's beautiful. You could be making a shit ton of money.
Starting point is 00:37:59 I know, but then it's not available, like, whenever I want. Like, tomorrow, I don't have anything on my schedule. I'm like, let's go to Palm Springs. What if I was renting it out this week? then i'm like well now i can't go to my house yeah so i think just at least for the first year i want to be able to enjoy it whenever i want we're gonna do um every year on thanksgiving we do friendsgiving because my family celebrates on saturday after so for all my friends who either can't afford to go home don't want to go home we just do a big thanksgiving uh friendsgiving at my mom's house but this year i'm like okay if you guys are driving out my mom was in azusa so like san
Starting point is 00:38:28 gabriel valley i'm like you're driving out there you can drive another hour to palm springs and i just want to have like a huge like friendsgiving party at my house nice but then after this year and the holidays i'm like maybe next year i'll rent it out but probably after coachella and also i'm like i would make the most money in april But that's when I want to stay there. You could make so much money like, for for renting out your house to then like, rent out like four houses for that price the next year. Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah, it's like crazy. If I go together with my neighbors, and I'm like, Okay, look, let's like, move out for a couple weeks, rent them out. And then you know, I feel like that could work. But for now, I'm just gonna keep it to myself. It's like my little home rent them out, and then, you know, I feel like that could work. But for now,
Starting point is 00:39:05 I'm just going to keep it to myself. It's like my little home away from home. I escape. It's like when I'm there, I'm so zen. Like, I don't care about anything. I just kind of like shut down. So it's nice.
Starting point is 00:39:16 But anyway, enough about that. So when I was also looking up stuff with your music last night, I saw you were signed to Young Money with Lil Wayne. Yeah, that's a long story. Okay, but besides that, I saw that there were just so many really cool artists you've worked with, like Snoop,
Starting point is 00:39:35 and who do you think is the coolest person you've worked with to date, and who is your dream person to collab with? Oh, my God. Definitely my dream person. i say this all the time i was like yo he must get google alerts and know this by now uh i say drake all the time but oh yeah but also post malone has kind of shot up on my list i really want to work with post i think i feel like well also it's like the reason i want to work with drake is because i've had a lot of people um compare like my style of music they're like yeah like you know you you do melodic stuff
Starting point is 00:40:04 and sing but also rap like similar to drake style and i think that i also have a similar style to post yeah and we have very similar fan bases i've noticed oh totally um like i get so many comments on my youtube like yo collab with post collab with post like non-stop so i would love to work with posts now also um but out of all the people i've worked with i would say snoop was obviously like just like he's like the funniest uh greatest person ever um yeah so working with snoop is just kind of hands down like up it's like it's it's up there on my list of like not just people who have collaborated with but just like moments in my life oh totally he's like top of my bucket list of like someone i want to smoke a blunt with yeah
Starting point is 00:40:45 or just hang out with be in a studio with snoop oh i have smoked a blunt with snoop dog okay now he joins the conversation i actually have and i was the only one like i was freaking out like he came into uh watch what he did watch what happens live like live version in one time yeah and i was djing right so, I'm walking through the corridors, and I'm like, oh, it smells good, it smells good. What is that? And then, boom, Snoop Dogg's at the end of the hallway. And then all my friends, we walk up to the door,
Starting point is 00:41:12 and the security's like, no, no, no. But you can go in. And I was like, what the fuck? I walk up in here, it's just smoke, and I see Snoop on a blue velvet couch. Oh, my God. I'm not to the fucking kidding. This sounds like a dream.
Starting point is 00:41:24 It literally is. It sounds like a dream it literally sounds like a dream was this real yeah i swear come see it did this really happen he'd fucking smoke me out and boom no we were in cali too so it's legal so back up listen to this so this is a true story that i tell people all the time so when i went to the studio to meet him for the song we were doing um i go in the studio and I had never been there before. I end up working at this studio two weeks later, and I'm like, wait. There's a window in here?
Starting point is 00:41:52 There's a whole garden? This is such a pretty studio. My producer's like, dude, that window was there when we came here that night with Snoop. I'm like, there was no window? He's like, it was just so smoky. You probably couldn't see the window so like i just imagined there was a wall behind like the the the you know the boards yeah it's a window it's a you know have
Starting point is 00:42:11 you ever worked at conway studios no it sounds amazing it's really pretty it's like all these windows and then you could see out until like they're like pretty little garden area but i did not see that window when i first went in the studio with snoop it was so filled with smoke like i just didn't know it was there. That's hilarious. Yeah, that's how that room was for me, too. True stories. True stories here. I think the closest I've gotten to him
Starting point is 00:42:30 was when I did the Mary Jane podcast show. That's why. Wait, whose podcast is that? It's at, like, one of Snoop's studios. So it's like, he's affiliated with it, and there's, like, a really big cardboard cutout of him. That's the closest I've gotten. Yeah, I took a video on my
Starting point is 00:42:45 phone and then like i lost that phone so what i know what about the iCloud everything should be backed up on the cloud hopefully it's up there somewhere but no i don't know wow that's unfortunate yeah him passing me a fat blonde and i'm just like oh my god yeah it was epic yeah and Kim Kardashian was there that day oh she didn't smoke no weed though no she doesn't do there's no way she smokes weed because she was in she was probably worried when really it's does the opposite right makes you relax yeah right so anything else you guys want to shout out that you're working on i know we talked about your clothing line you got some new music coming out yeah definitely my music that's just you know that's my passion that's always been
Starting point is 00:43:27 my thing since i was a little girl i i'm always like you know i don't know how it ended up on like tv famous for more famous for my laugh than for for my music but it's a great laugh so hey thank you um but yeah so i'm always trying to push my music the most yeah that's my main thing so my album that's what i'm working on now. And in the meantime, I'm going to keep dropping singles. Fire. But yeah, my album. I can't wait to hear them.
Starting point is 00:43:50 My album, I think I'm going to draw, I was trying to get it out like before Christmas, but I think it's going to be like top of the new year now. Okay. Sweet. Nice.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Also, your nails are fire. Thank you. Oh my God, I love them. I just got them done to match a dress I just wore that was like you know like the kind of like reflective yeah yeah no i love that it's like people literally i've had nails this long since seventh grade so literally for like over 20 years and people constantly do they
Starting point is 00:44:17 ever ask you how you wipe your ass oh my they're not that long i'm just like mine are like okay because i have such small hands so if i got them any longer it would look stupid right but um i've had i've had a couple people i'm like dude i'm like my nails are not that long like but like the other girls i will say that i actually wonder that for when they have like the ones that are that like curve yes yes i don't i don't get that i don't know because i break my nails all the time I'm like washing the dishes and I break a nail. And I'm like, yo, how do those girls that have nails that long do anything? I'm like, do they have like people that just like do everything for them? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:52 You know what I mean? I don't like long nails. Long nails like freak me out. Yeah, but if you wanted a back scratch, you would like long nails. You know Young Thug's new song? He's like, fuck it, got a pink Mercedes. I don't like long nails on my lady. Wait, wait, what does he say?
Starting point is 00:45:04 He says, I don't like long nails. He goes lady. Wait, wait, what does he say? He says, I don't like no long nails. He goes, fuck it about a pink Mercedes. I don't like no long nails on my lady. Oh, he doesn't like long nails. That's funny. I love my long nails. They're like a part of me. I'm like, I can't do my eyelashes.
Starting point is 00:45:17 There's certain things I can't do without my nails. I love having nails. My friends all make fun of me. There's this one, it's a little g you know, a little gif or whatever. Oh, yeah. Of Jim Carrey where he's, like, typing really fast. And everybody always sends it and says, that's me on my phone typing. That's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:45:34 But, yeah, no, it's funny, too. Like, if ever I'm, like, connected to the Bluetooth and I'm typing, like, everybody's like, is that you? Yeah. And it's like, brrrr. Like, you just hear the little. Oh, totally. Yeah. It's, like, always when you're texting.
Starting point is 00:45:46 I love that sound. I like it. That's literally Sheena, yeah. No, I don't want to sound weird, but I'm, like, something about it makes me just feel, like... Yeah. It's, like, therapeutic. It's, like, what is that, like, ASMR or whatever? You know?
Starting point is 00:45:57 So, we did Vanderpump Rules ASMR, and one of the things they had me do was tap my nails on the screen. And I'm, like, see, some people might like it. That so funny yeah there's people i like it yeah i remember when i got divorced i remember one of the tweets that i saw and it was like it added my ex-husband it was like well at least you don't have to hear her nails tapping on the screen anymore and i was like hey oh my god yeah that's true seriously like yeah. I like them. They're a part of me. Anyway. James, I just wanted to shout out your sobriety and say congratulations. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Thanks. Thanks. How long? How many weeks are we at now? Like, this Friday coming up will be week 16, everybody. Congratulations. I know. It's mental.
Starting point is 00:46:41 It's mental. It's a great day. Thanks. I've been DJing, like, all over the U.S. And it's mental. That's nice. I've been DJing like all over the US and it's just been a blessing. I feel like, you know, reborn in the booth. It sounds like so cliche, but it's like, you know,
Starting point is 00:46:52 I'm enjoying my mixes so much more. I'm meeting amazing people and I'm actually remembering my trips, which is like a good plus. So yeah, thanks Sheena. Love you. And also if you haven't checked out jameskennedy.shop,

Starting point is 00:47:47 I'm going to be hungover. I need to, you know, but it's like, and then it's like you waste the whole freaking day. Oh, they wouldn't even like start leaving, letting me on the flight back. Like, it was like, that did happen. You got to go back to the hotel, sir. No, but that's a goal of mine.
