Scheananigans with Scheana Shay - Playing the Field w/ RHONY’s Brynn Whitfield

Episode Date: October 20, 2023

We tried to make this week’s guest mad so that she would date Scheana’s dad… because who wouldn’t want RHONY’s Brynn Whitfeld as a stepmom?! (Sorry, Brynn - Ron’s taken anyways.) ...In this week’s episode, Scheana & Brynn get into it all: Brynn almost joining the original cast of VPR, the advice LVP gave her before RHONY started, the trouble C-words brought her this season (cheese, Connecticut & that bleeped C-name restaurant), what Brynn looks for in a guy – or girl. Plus, Brynn relays who she might have her eye on at the moment, along with who she definitely is not inviting to join her roster. Tune in to find out! Follow us: @scheana @scheananigansGuest: @brynn_whitfield Please note that this episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a Dear Media production. Okay, so if you're like me and you have a picky eater at home like Summer Moon, you are going to love Pillsbury Crescent Rolls. So I don't know if this takes you back to childhood, but there's just something about putting Pillsbury in my cart at the grocery store that's quite nostalgic. I remember my mom making the biscuits growing up, the crescent rolls. I recently got a Hawaiian style Pillsbury crescent roll. And let me tell you, it transforms your side dish to the main dish. They have so many weeknight recipes that are as easy as fill, roll, and bake. So let me tell you what we've been doing. We have had some cheesy broccoli
Starting point is 00:00:47 ones that we made recently because Brock and I love to get the veggies in, but we try to make it fun. There are so many other ones you can do like pepperoni pizza crescent rolls, chicken bacon ranch, ham and cheese if that's your thing. You can find Pillsbury on the dairy aisle. So if you are looking around for it, that's where it is. Roll up your favorite ingredients into the crescent roll. And it's a really nice, quick and easy spin on weeknight recipes. Dinner prep in 30 minutes or less. And like I said, it is picky eater pleasing. So if y'all are looking to spice some things up and making your side dish the main dish, then you can find more weeknight dinner recipes at Pillsbury.com. From Vanderpump Rules to motherhood and everywhere in between. It's time to catch up with Sheena Shea.
Starting point is 00:01:51 This is shenanigans. And now here's your host, Sheena Shea. Because we're good as gold. Because we're good as gold. Because we're good as gold. All right. Welcome back to Shenanigans. Today's guest is one of my favorite new housewives. Actually, you're my absolute favorite new housewife.
Starting point is 00:02:23 I think you are the best addition to this Bravo universe. If you guys haven't been watching Real Housewives of New York, what are you doing? Let's give it up for the gorgeous Brynn Whitfield. Thank you, my love. Thank you. And I'm a new housewife, but I'm an old friend of yours. I feel like I've known you forever. Seriously.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Okay. So we met back in LA before Vanderpump Rules. Yes. Yeah. That was before Vanderpump Rules because I knew Pandy and Lisa before Vanderpump Rules. Yeah. When they were doing Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. And I remember I was working, making absolutely no money at a PR firm there.
Starting point is 00:03:01 And they were like, we might do the show. Would you want to like interview, audition or whatever? And I was like, it sounds incredible, but I'm going to leave it to the experts because I hang out with you guys at Sur. You guys are also fabulous and fun. And you guys were fucking crazy back then in the best way, in the best way. But I remember being like, I'm going to stick to my corporate job, but then look at what happened. Like it's, you know, so crazy. Do you guys still keep in touch? Me and Pandy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:26 I just texted her. I didn't get to see her the last time I was in town, but I adore them. I love her and James. They're the best. They're great. Yeah. Did you ask Lisa for any advice before starting Housewives? Yeah, I did.
Starting point is 00:03:35 And all the advice is always just be yourself. Just be yourself. And it's actually turned out, I was just talking about this with someone. I'm like, it actually turned out really well. Like, you go into these things, you think, okay, I want to like in a perfect world, I want to portray myself in the way that I want other people to see myself. But I just went into this thinking like, fuck it, good or bad. Like I'm just going to be myself. And then that way you can't do this, not being yourself. You would get, you would get burnt out and exhausted. It's impossible to fake.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Oh, totally. So, and there's stuff that I like too. Like I'm overall happy with everything. There's some stuff I watch and I'm like, Brynn, how many dick jokes can we do? Like, it's a lot. But there's so good. There's a lot of dick. But it's, but you know, I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:14 So for the most part, be yourself. And so far, so good. Yeah. I don't know. Yeah, how has the response been? Because I mean, I feel like you just have such a fun personality. You're just so dynamic. Like I love everything about you. You immediately were just my favorite to watch. You're so fun. But I feel like with your personality, sometimes you can be, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:40 misinterpreted as being one way or whatever. So how has the feedback been mostly? The feedback actually has been really great. Overall, it's positive. I'd say like 80% positive. That's great. That's good, right? I think for like poll, if we're doing like poll. Totally. Now I'm just, again, gauging this off of like the messages and DMs that I receive
Starting point is 00:04:59 and the things that I'm tagged in. Everyone being like, this is funny. This is great. I think for the most part, the people that take the show for what it is which is it's we're here to entertain you you can laugh at us you can laugh with us but like just enjoy it it doesn't have to be that deep like I always say it's not the BBC it's Bravo right like we're here like make fun of us make fun of the stuff we wear like make fun of our stupid arguments just like make fun of us and let us entertain you yeah I think sometimes the other percentage people that take things so seriously
Starting point is 00:05:26 or are like more invested in like my friendship with Aaron than like in the dynamics of that or people get so, it becomes like their life. So that's the only like catch I think is sometimes it can be, overall it's been really good. But I think the people that get very caught up in like the nitty gritty and the granular and become
Starting point is 00:05:45 obsessed and I'm like Erin and I got over that like six months ago why are you like writing paragraphs of comments like psychoanalyzing our interpersonal relationship and that's the weird thing about this world that we're in there's nothing normal about it but it's like we film it we live it we then have to relive it but then you get the entire world's opinions on it. So it's like new information to them. So I need advice. How do you, okay, so this has been the strangest thing. And we're all experienced at the girls.
Starting point is 00:06:13 And we were just literally was walking in here. We're texting about it. It's so strange to like, you don't remember the shit you said or did six months ago. You know, because like, and we don't see what they include. Right. So we have many conversations, tons of hours and hours of filming. You don't remember every single little thing. Then you see it like, you know, so it happens. Then you watch it back. And it's so odd to watch it back because the first time I watch an episode, I look at it as what did I wear?
Starting point is 00:06:39 Why is my hair like that? I kind of look chubby. You pick yourself apart. I'm not even watching it for the jokes or what's happening, you know? So then I go on Instagram. I see all you said that I'm like, I wasn't watching it for that. I'm watching to make sure like, I'm like, why didn't I get a makeup artist, you know? So you watch it back and then you go through these feelings again, where you see it from the other person's perspective. You see it from a more objective perspective. Then you're dealing with all the comments. Then you have to go to something like a reunion, which we just filmed and then talk about it again. Like you have to go to something like a reunion, which we just filmed, and then talk about it again. Like you have to get dressed up in a gown and go fight with your
Starting point is 00:07:09 friends about something you talked about eight months ago. That to me has been the weirdest so far. Like it's like living it, filming it as one thing, but then waiting, watching it back, having those feelings come back, having the whole like, you know, audience then comment about it, and then having to basically relive it with your friends when like you've moved on in real life. Totally. So how do you, what advice? Because this is so mind blowing to me. Like, I feel like every reunion I emotionally blackout.
Starting point is 00:07:36 It's like so much my brain and everything just goes on overload. I'll get home and my mom was like, how was it? I'm like, I don't remember. She's like, what do you mean you don't remember? I'm like, I don't know. I just like, I blacked out. Yeah. It's kind of like public speaking. I black out during public speaking. I'm like, you get so nervous and then you just happens and you're like, I don't know what just happened. I think it went okay. I mean, I think sometimes, which maybe isn't the best advice, but just reminding yourself that like, this is a job, but then also these are real friends,
Starting point is 00:08:06 reminding yourself that like this is a job but then also these are real friends you know so it's like if everyone understands that yeah I feel like it makes things a little easier because I'm like sometimes you don't want to have these conversations yeah but you need to have them I feel like in life there are a lot of things that maybe you would just say behind someone's back and you would never say to their face totally totally but we can't do that in this world. No, but then it's like, then everyone sees that you saw that behind their back. Right. Also, I've had to go back.
Starting point is 00:08:31 I prided myself on like in life, not being like a massive gossip. I like like hot goss. I like doing that. But I do it intentionally being like, it's Saturday, I'm bored. I want to go gossip. I want to go talk shit.
Starting point is 00:08:41 I do mine. I know I'm doing it. I'm not one of those people that gossips and isn't aware of it or claims they don't know so it's kind of like then but to watch yourself do it or to see I don't know it's it's very very it's like kind of a mind yeah game no it really is it's a total mind yeah yeah yeah to separate that well this is a show but then you're friends and then when they choose sometimes to say well it's a show and you're like, no bitch. But it is real life. So that's the thing where it's like knowing that what you're doing is yes, you're making a show to entertain,
Starting point is 00:09:14 but at the same time, you're not making a fake show. And that's one thing that I feel like is so hard because people are like, well, that's fake. You just did that for the show. And it's like, no, no, no. I'm living my real life yeah and all of the choices that I make on this show I have to be accountable for yeah so it's not just like I did it for the show yeah my producer told me to do this it's like it doesn't happen these are my decisions this is my job but these are also my friends these are my poor decisions and that's what makes it so tough. Especially when you've had relationships with people for a long time and then you have a falling
Starting point is 00:09:52 out. But then you might make up. And then you're at the reunion and then you have to face the person. It's just, it's a lot. We had to talk a little bit. Maybe the producers wouldn't have wanted to. We had to talk a little bit beforehand especially Erin and I and we had to because we were, at the end of filming we were in a great place. Then we kind of had a little bit of a thing again. Then we become in a really good place. We're back to
Starting point is 00:10:10 our original friendship because I love her so much. I love Abe and like, we're the same age. We're just like all friends. And so before the reunion, we had to like, we had to basically like have a like understanding that like, we have to go there again, but we're going to come back. And I think that's the thing that like, I'm not like again but we're gonna come back and i think that's the thing that like i'm not like dishing on any other like housewives franchise but with our group we come from like we all just now too we just sent this another text message like we like we're the type of fighters where we want to you fight with the there's an angle of i want to resolve this it's not i'm going on you to destroy you guys i think you guys are the same way that i was just gonna say that yeah but it's not like the other housewives are vicious yeah and
Starting point is 00:10:50 sometimes and do i sometimes a lot of time enjoy watching that yes totally you know entertaining yeah yeah but at the end of the day when you have those long-standing friendships and relationships you're not there to destroy each other we're not looking to we we want to hold one another accountable and if we're going to get upset we have to keep it real but like we're not there to destroy each other we're not looking to we we want to hold one another accountable and if we're going to get upset we have to keep it real but like we're not here to like i like to it's coming from a place of like at the end of the day i want to resolve this there's love there i love you and i want to move on not like i i'm just here to like let's just go round after round yeah it's knocked the fuck out like that's not what we're about and you even saw that i feel like on y'all's trip with aaron and
Starting point is 00:11:25 uba it's like they kept going at it but at the end of the day it's like i love you bitch yeah yeah yeah literally that's how that's how literally that's how we are even this past weekend jessel and aaron came over to watch the episode that's one thing that's been really helpful for us is like watching the episodes together we do that too you do okay yeah we'll do like viewing parties it's good because then you can sit there and like, you kind of then laugh and you're like, hey, that was messed up that I said that. You know, or like, you have to say, yeah, it's much easier watching it together. So how long have you known all of the girls?
Starting point is 00:11:53 Because it seems like most of y'all were friends, but then some kind of met for the first time through being, you know, organic friends. Yeah, yeah. How long have you known everyone? I've known Jessel forever. Psy, I've known through work for a very long time. She was excellent to work with. Uba, I knew socially. I'd see her at like when I would do something fancy in New York, like a gal or something. Uba was always at, because she's like one of those, she's like top tier New York. I knew of Jenna. Didn't know Jenna
Starting point is 00:12:16 though. And then Erin, I didn't know Erin, but it turns out Erin and I actually have the most mutual friends like out east and everything. Okay. Yeah. I want to get into you and Jenna. Hit the good. Because watching the last couple episodes, it was so fun to see you wing woman with her. Yeah. I loved the little crush, but I want to know how much of that was, like, did you genuinely have a crush? Like, would you date a woman? This is the craziest thing. This is crazy. I want to, like, take would you date a woman? This is the craziest thing.
Starting point is 00:12:45 This is crazy. I want to like take my jacket off for this. This is the craziest thing. Like, so I just have felt like Jenna is actually so, she's the sweetest, kindest person. Yeah. She has her little eccentricity. She's very, and people like that,
Starting point is 00:12:59 I love to be friends with that. Because it's like, you know, when you're little and like, I'm like the class clown and she's like the shy kid, right? So I like making people blush and I can make Jenna blush. So just it more so fun to watch. It just starts off like that. And I like poking the bear and I keep going and going. And I love a joke that you can keep. I'm like, I like dad jokes. I like jokes. I can keep going, going. So when we were filming, it was more just a joke. And it's
Starting point is 00:13:19 like, I like to make her blush. I like to, like, make jokes. The craziest thing, though, when I was at, like, a few weeks ago, I'm watching it back. And then Jen and I have become so close now, too. And I'm like, and she's very happy in a relationship. Oh, good. She's so happy. And her partner's amazing. And I was like, I started thinking about it. I was like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:13:40 Honest to God, why not? Why didn't I? And I just told her, actually, last week at this party we were at. I was like, you know what's funny? Like, we were,? Why didn't I? And I just told her actually last week at this party we were at, I was like, you know what's funny? Like we were like,
Starting point is 00:13:48 when we were filming, we were joking. I was like, now I kind of actually have a crush on you. Like I would, 100%. Look,
Starting point is 00:13:54 I don't care. I'm 37. I want to get married. I do not care what you have in your pants anymore. She checks all my boxes. So I'd like her to check my actual box.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Oh my God, I love that. But like, it's funny. Like, you know, it's almost like when you have like a best friend and then like you, you're like, wait a second. Like I'm in love with Josh, you know, like this reference. Absolutely. That's what I had with Jenna. I had like an, I'm in love with Josh moment. I was like, wait, but like, actually like I could have been with her in Paris fashion week and it would have been me, her and Usher. And like, I'm like, what a perfect life, like waking up in bed. it was her video she posted where she woke up in bed with the glasses speaking French because like I love Paris I can't speak I can only speak French like a tiny tiny conversational but like my dream is like yeah like a guy who speaks French and we
Starting point is 00:14:36 wake up in Paris and it's like so chic and I was like that could have maybe been my life and I was like I missed out like so I do actually now have a little crush on her yeah the older I get the more I don't care about gender yeah I just don't or maybe I'm picking up on like all these young kids it's more it's who you are but it makes sense why would you matter why am I cutting out half the population of like eligible people I think it's just my age I'm like I don't care if you are nice and kind and funny and successful and have a house in the hamptons and a boatload of money i'm interested yeah i mean the connection the connection she's hot yeah like and she's so kind and loving and she's so good with me and she's so patient with me and so loving with me and like she's always sending me little like things
Starting point is 00:15:18 like oh this reminds me of little brin like my brother loves her like it's just yeah i'm kind of yeah now i'm in love with jenna it was a joke then and now i'm kind of but now the story of my life i'm too late i said yeah i know i know okay maybe a threesome well maybe but you know what there are still a lot of single men in new york city there are they did prepare a little fun game okay because we don't want to make you mad or you might date our dad where's my yes where's my Brock? We need to find you a Brock. Right? I love accents.
Starting point is 00:15:46 See, and I found him out of LA. I mean, I found him in San Diego, but you know, he's not from America. I know. I know. I love me an accent. You got a good one. Okay. So there are some potential suitors and I want you to tell me if you would invite them
Starting point is 00:16:01 to join your roster. Okay. Tyler Cameron. i've never gotten more questions like ran like people stop me like what was he like people ask me what does he smell like sure yes okay joe jonas which brother is he is he the one that's getting a divorce yes i love i'd rather have what's the game with the one his ex-wife oh yeah she's a hottie
Starting point is 00:16:27 no no not oh wait is she the Joe Jonas which one is he he's the one they're getting I think they have
Starting point is 00:16:31 hot wives yeah they both do all three of them do sure yes yes okay okay Aaron Rodgers you know now living
Starting point is 00:16:38 in New York I think he's injured right now so maybe I know I know Aaron Rod I would say no okay. I would say no. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Yeah, I would say no. Okay. Just because I have friends that, like, date him. Yeah. Yeah. What about, would you ever date, like, an A-list actor, like a Brad Pitt or a Tom Cruise type? Um, no. No, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Yeah, I like, what's his name? I like all the Marvel guys. I love, like, Hemsworth Brother. I love Henry Cavill. I like, like, that's my type. Yeah. Yeah, yeah., what's his name? I like all the Marvel guys. I love like Hemsworth brother. I love Henry Cavill. I like like, that's my type. Yeah, yeah. So one of those for sure. Love that.
Starting point is 00:17:11 What about Hugh Jackman? He's recently single too. Oh, he's single too? Too much song and dance for me. I hate musicals. I literally can't, like what in real life do you just walk down the street and be like, like, I think they're so fucking fake.
Starting point is 00:17:23 I love theater, but I don't like musicals. Okay, so BravoCon is coming up in just a couple of weeks. So I'm just going to throw some Bravo men out there. If you know who they are, if you would, if you wouldn't, and then who knows, maybe in November in Las Vegas. Okay. Do you watch below deck? No. Okay. Captain Jason. I need pictures. Okay. How about Carl? Summer House. Very recently single. Oh, no. That one, no.
Starting point is 00:17:50 I've seen pictures in that. Yeah. What about Shep? I heard you guys like DM'd, right? We DM'd. Yeah, yeah. We send each other funny memes now. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Here's the thing. I think though, I love those. I watch Southern Charm. I love, I just love the South in general. Yeah. Because I'm a Midwestern girl I would definitely
Starting point is 00:18:06 I definitely would be friends With those guys Those are the They remind me like Friends from college I just wanted to just like Go get like shit faced with them Totally
Starting point is 00:18:12 We have so much fun Yeah Like I can just tell Like I have Like that's one of my friend groups From like back home Yes Like I
Starting point is 00:18:18 Those are gonna be like my boys Yeah I love them Maybe if I accidentally Do a make out or something Maybe okay Yeah That was my history with Shep. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:18:25 I would just say, good time, makeout, drunk. Just a makeout bandit. Totally. Just makeout. Yeah. He's that one and he'd be like, okay, sort of like goofy and like whatever and then that's it. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Totally. 100%. Oh my god, I need more information. When was this? This was
Starting point is 00:18:41 oof, 2017? 2018? 2018? That's not like that season oh you've made season seven when did jackson britney get married it was around that era okay yeah have you made out with any other bravo peeps yeah who carl carl nema oh Keep going. Seen him for dinner tonight. We're like best friends now. Oh, that's fun. That's fun. Yeah. Make it up. It's not that big of a deal.
Starting point is 00:19:08 No. It's very junior high. Yeah. Yeah, we can end it there. There's nothing about me right now. What about either Tom? Either Tom. Oh, of your Toms?
Starting point is 00:19:18 Of our Toms. No, not my type. Perfect. Well, the one Tom is on a show with Tyler. Oh, I didn't realize Tyler was on that too. Wait, Stars on Mars or Special Forces? Special Forces. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah one Tom is on a show with Tyler. Oh, I didn't realize Tyler was on that too. Wait, Stars on Mars or Special Forces? Special Forces. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I did watch it. I was like, just want to see what's going on. Yeah. Just checking out the vibes. He's on a show with that. Yeah. Yeah, with that guy.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Okay. Well, thanks for playing. We're going to take a quick little break and be right back. It's golf. It's not golf. It's Topgolf. I don't know if y'all have been, but it is one of the most fun things I have done with my girlfriends, with my husband, with my kid.
Starting point is 00:19:57 There's something for everyone. They have golf clubs, balls, tees, turf, the ball picker up cart thing. I mean, they have the best food and drinks, literally something for the entire fam. I've been on nights at the Topgolf in Vegas when they've had live bands. They have so much entertainment. It is so much fun. They have giant targets on a giant fairway, giant TVs. If you're a sports fan, you can, I mean, watch whatever you want. And like I said, the food, I mean, handcrafted food and a really bomb beverage menu. Right now they're doing half price Tuesday. So they have a whole day each week dedicated for more play and less pay. So every Tuesday, all of the gameplay is half price,
Starting point is 00:20:50 which gives players a little more of a reason to come play around. And also, I just want to point out, if you don't golf, it doesn't matter. Because yes, golf can be kind of hard. But no one is not good at Topgolf. Everyone can play, even if you have never swung a club before. And like I said, Tuesdays, you get the gameplay for half as much. So we're all about play, but we even have some rules. Half price Tuesday applies to gameplay only, isn't offered at every venue,
Starting point is 00:21:19 and can be doubled up with other offers and discounts. I mean, it's already half price after all. Full details can be found at Topgolf.com slash good as gold. Y'all can visit topgolf.com slash good as gold to book a bay and come play around. Are you single and struggling with dating or in a long-term relationship and want to take that next step. Or maybe you've been together with your partner forever and you want to spice things up. We Met at Acme is a dating podcast for you. And I really hope you come check it out. I'm Lindsay Metzeler and we have so much to talk about together. So check out We Met at Acme wherever you listen to podcasts and I can't wait to meet you.
Starting point is 00:22:11 podcast and I can't wait to meet you. Okay. So I want to get into some show questions. I've been dying to ask you. I've had just a standing note in my phone all season. But it's for my podcast. I'm like, I'm going to get burnt on the podcast because we spoke right when the show started airing. And I was like, whenever you're in LA, let me know. I want to get you on. The only two podcasts I've done, yeah, is yours. I was like, I'm doing my girls. I love my girls.
Starting point is 00:22:34 So I've been keeping notes all season of things I wanted to ask about. Yes. But I don't do this for like my cast members to bring up at the reunion. You should start. I heard it's helpful. There was one season. I think it was maybe season eight i was like i'm gonna start keeping notes yeah and i got
Starting point is 00:22:50 to like week two of filming like this is exhausting i i did it too just because i was like i was thinking like oh the reunion i didn't know how this worked i have not a good short-term memory and i i did start doing a couple as well because i was thinking like or like you think of like funny stuff or when you're talking to friends, you say something funny. And you're like, oh, yeah, I should bring it. And people tell you too. They're like, oh, that's where the reunion is. And then you're like, I don't give a fuck.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Right. I don't care. Totally. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not like at the reunion. I maybe have one season. Like, well, I have receipts.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just like, I kind of just go for it. I show up that day. I get my hair and makeup done. I'm like, what are we talking about? Yeah, I know. Me too. And I'm like, when can we start drinking?
Starting point is 00:23:24 Do you want to start? Oh, this year will be interesting. Oh my God. Okay. Can you say what the name of the restaurant was that was bleeped? I think I'm legally allowed to say it, but I won't say it. Okay. I just personally won't say it. I'm not going to rip on it. Look, it's not a bad restaurant. Why did they have to bleep it? Can you say that? I don't know why. I think something was legal. I think it just wasn't worth it or like, I don't know, maybe that's considered defamation.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Here's the thing. I'm fine with the restaurant. People tag me when they go in. I have actually, I've been to, in my 20s, I went to that restaurant. It's just, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:55 like in LA, there's certain restaurants that become so mainstream that like, when you're like a local. I feel like I know what it is. Maybe I'll ask you off the podcast and you can tell me.
Starting point is 00:24:03 I will. What can we expect at the reunion? Because the finale. Okay, wait. Before we get into the reunion. Yeah. I want to talk a little bit about this week's episode. The finale.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Yeah. With you and Psy. Because here's where it does get tricky with reality TV. This happened with Brock and Lala season nine. Yeah. He confided something in her off camera. She then brought it up on camera. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:31 But it's like, look, in those 10 weeks or whatever of filming, pretty much anything's fair game. Yes. We sign up to put 100% of our lives out there. Yeah. If something is brought up on camera or off camera, you have to expect that it's all going to be on camera. Right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:24:46 So, Psy told you about Uba's boyfriend in Connecticut off camera, but it was brought up on camera. She told me that she had brought it up on camera. She also, and also Uba had told me that day at a fashion show about the boyfriend, but didn't tell me about it not bringing up up on camera. Right. So I just knew that like no details. First of all, at that point, I didn't know that man. I didn't know his name. I didn't know where he lived. I didn't know anything. I knew that Uba was seeing someone that, and that there was a pool in a house. They didn't even tell me Connecticut, actually. All I remember is they saying, oh,
Starting point is 00:25:29 or Uba sent on the group chat or Cy had showed me like Uba swimming in a pool because we make fun of Uba and Anguilla. She's always like she she swims funny or she's learning how to swim. And she's like, you guys, I'm going to learn how to swim and like my new man's pool. And like, OK, out of common sense, any New Yorker knows if you see in the background of a picture, a pool in a house means Connecticut. Nobody in New York has like, well at least like that's an earlier year in the Hampton. Like, but yeah, or I don't know how, but I just knew Connecticut. So all I knew was Connecticut.
Starting point is 00:25:51 Uba and I to date had talked on camera. They didn't show it, but we talked, we have a couple of shared mutual exes. New York's a small thing, but we talk about like, you know, like Kay in Tribeca or like finance bro or that person or L Upper East Side. Like we would use code names to talk about stuff and we'd talk and make jokes. So when I said, how's Connecticut?
Starting point is 00:26:10 I thought that Uba was just going to reply with her typical how we always did. Like, ooh, honey, grass is greener in Connecticut or something like that. Right. I didn't know that she didn't want this state because I didn't know his name. I didn't know what he did. Didn't know anything about him at that point. So I was just being cute. I'd ask Jenna, Jenna, how's your love life?
Starting point is 00:26:26 Jenna was like, meh. And then I asked Uba. So the fact that then when Uba asked me, I was hammered at my birthday party. It's not an excuse. I was so drunk. I was having so much fun. It's a little bit of an excuse, though, because it's a fact. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:38 And I was filming. And we were just like filming. And I just had blown out the candles. And I was so hammered. And I thought all the balloons were going to explode. And I just turned to her and I said it. And then she, she then comes up to me. She's like, who told you? I stupidly though, just said, sigh, because while sigh had, but Uba told me that day at the, at the Pat Bow fashion show, she told Jessel and I in the car, she's showing
Starting point is 00:26:57 us texts and doing things. So in my drunken state, I just said, sigh. So I shouldn't have said that. I should've been like, Uba, you told me and I'm I'm sorry but even in the car Uba didn't say don't I knew she wanted to keep it private but which I feel like sharing us like a state is like something in a drop-down menu like right not it's not like there's a lot of men in Connecticut I don't know if they I forget I need to watch that video but I remember like don't worry there's like probably like 60,000 millionaires in Connecticut no one's gonna know which one right you know like it's just but I think she just didn't worry. There's like probably like 60,000 millionaires in Connecticut. No one's going to know which one he is. You know, like it's just, but I think she just didn't. At that point it was new and she didn't want, I get it.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Like this isn't an easy thing. And there's a lot of men and I think Uwe and I as a single gals and like the men that we date, they don't want, they're like, honey, I'm happy for you. But like, I don't want anything to do with this. I think if we were married to them, then they'd be more open to it. But, like, they have, like, high-profile jobs or whatever they're doing. They're happy for us, but they don't want to participate in it. They're like, I'll just applaud you from the side. You're doing great.
Starting point is 00:27:56 So it was new, and I think she was just so – and she knew it was very special. It turns out, fast forward, it is very special, and I'm so happy for her. So I know she just was so protective of it at that point. Yeah. And I think she was scared of, look, we were all scared at this point. It was our first season. We didn't know how this was going to go down, how it would be received, how it was going to be edited. So all shit was flying.
Starting point is 00:28:17 And, yeah, but I think Connecticut's a great state. And I hope people visit it. I love Connecticut. I'm going to join the tourism. I've been several times. I love Connecticut. I go to Foxwoods. Yeah, I'm just trying to help the tourism. Yeah. I love Connecticut. I'm going to join the tourism. I've been several times. I love Connecticut. I go to Foxwoods. Yeah, I'm just trying to help the tourism.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Yeah. Right? Yeah, but it was like, with Cy yelling, that was like, I don't know. I think that night, if I recall, what I do recall vaguely, it was a very charged night. It was like a lot going on. Especially when it's the last night. It's the last night. It was very surreal for all of us.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Yeah. And it was just there and too there's so much you know it's like the cruise it's like you realize that this is all coming to an end like what the hell did I just do adrenaline's high and then there's alcohol and it's like I think it just was all like the Bermuda Triangle of Bryn's Bermuda birthday triangle yeah stuff and it just happened but I know obviously you can't say too much about what's to come with the reunion but is that one of the bigger things that you had to address because it was such an explosive fight at the end yeah but I think when you watch when I'm so the past few months seeing
Starting point is 00:29:17 the episodes were a relief for me because for the past few months again I was drunk I don't remember I said so many times you guys I'm so sorry I don't remember what I said so many times, you guys, I'm so sorry. I don't remember what I said. Watching it back, I was like, oh, you guys did say it on camera. You said it at the mini golf when I wasn't there. And then, you know, Uwe's always like, even at my party, she whispers to David, like, don't worry, I'm good. I have a man. So for me, it was like, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:39 it was good for me to be able to see it. Cause I'm like, oh, I don't think I did anything wrong. I think that we're filming a show. Everyone said stuff on camera. Then we're going and saying, well, don't say it. I said it. But then, I mean, it's just like a mess. And I said the word Connecticut. Like there's cheese, Connecticut. Right. That other restaurant. Sea words get me in trouble on this show. I just need to shut my damn mouth. But no, but I didn't, honestly, I had a fine reunion. I was really nervous going in. I felt like I was going to a funeral. I was like, I'm so upset. You know, I'm good terms with Erin now. I didn't want to start fighting with her. I was scared, but I was fine with it. And I was kind of like,
Starting point is 00:30:17 I had a great old time. Yeah. I had fun. I loved your outfit and your interview looks are so good. Like the different pinks and just thank the dress with this all of them that one with the hat oh my pillbox hat so yeah i love jackie i was like my homage to jackie to 100 but the thing is like with my with the reunion look i like i hope people understand like i'm like i'm trying to be camp like i'm trying to have fun yes i'm not one of these like high fashion running in the streets of Paris girls. I love vintage clothing. I love fashion,
Starting point is 00:30:49 but I'm more like a fashion history person and whatever. Like I just like having fun with it. So yeah, I looked like I was on the Titanic. Or I looked like- No, I loved it. I loved your caption and all of that. The Salem witch trials. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:01 But that's one of the things that I feel like this season you just have, you know, a very playful nature and the way you tell stories like some of the girls would question it. But then I feel like some of the girls just get it and they're like, oh, that's just Brynn. Yeah. I think now they all understand how like I've done marketing for 17 years. I do ad copy. I do creative like I'm a copywriter. So I tend to speak like the way that I speak is like a lot of metaphors and idioms and antidotes. And I would say I use I'm a creative speaker. So instead of saying like with the egg freezing thing, instead of saying like, oh, I walked
Starting point is 00:31:35 in and then they did an ultrasound on me and then they talked me about embryos. I'm like, I walk into this joint. They shove a curling iron wand in my vagina. And then they're like, you got any sperm in your vagina? You got a tampon in your butt. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's how I'm like. I got a tampon in my butt, a curling iron. I mean, it And then they're like, you got any sperm in your vagina? You got a tampon in your butt. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's how I'm like, I got a tampon in my butt, a curling iron in my vagina.
Starting point is 00:31:47 I mean, it's like, I'm getting it from every angle. No, but I speak very, I've just done it my whole life and I do it for a living. So I think that was like an ongoing issue then is because I feel like Erin especially will always like jump on like, that didn't happen. It's like, no, but we're not speaking in. This isn a fact checking
Starting point is 00:32:05 with the New York Times right now right telling you a story it's kind of maybe a boring story or in this case of the egg freezing I'm trying to hide the fact I do it when I'm upset about something so if I start speaking about something very categorically that is upsetting to me I'll get upset and I don't like to get I'm actually I'm such an emotional person so in order to do that I I do some humor I make some jokes I make it whatever so that Erin a lot throughout the season and now you know she knows me a lot better and now it's like she understands that that's just how I storyteller yeah cover up the fact that I'm actually sad about something yeah yeah where do you think that comes from like your storytelling because you said you've done that your whole life
Starting point is 00:32:42 my childhood I had to learn at a very young age. There was a lot of, I mean, it was like, I went through an adoption thing and it was like years of lawyers and judges and being scared and all these people around me. Like, and, and I knew that if I, if I fucked up or I said something wrong, I might get taken away from my, my, my grandma, you know? And I was so scared because I didn't, it was just a very, very scary. So I learned quickly to use my words and narrate things in a way to make sure that I had the effect. So I will tell a story in a way, not maybe the best way it's told.
Starting point is 00:33:15 This is probably messed up and maybe I'm good at PR. The way that I know that you can understand it. So whether that's humor or whatever emotional appeal or like thing I have to, tool I have to use in my vernacular, but I'm going to use it in order to make you feel how I want you to interpret the story, like the tone and the voice and the whatnot. So I think it stems from when I was little. So it probably was like a trauma-based offense.
Starting point is 00:33:39 I don't know, but it's helped me in my professional career. That's great. No, you are just so fun to watch. Like, obviously, I've known you a long time, but just to see you on the show. And your personality is unlike any housewife I've ever seen. And it's just, it's so fun. And also, like, you don't have to be married or divorced to be a housewife anymore. That's one of the first questions I get, especially with
Starting point is 00:34:04 guys to they're like, I love their answer. Wait, are you married? It questions I get, especially with guys too. They're like, I love that you're on Instagram. Wait, are you married? It's so funny. Even on Raya, they were like, I just looked you on Instagram. Are you married? Like, then they're like, I'm cool with it. I'm like, first of all, you shouldn't be, that's weird.
Starting point is 00:34:14 But also like, that's the first thing people say like, oh wait, don't you have to be married? Don't you have to be married? And I have to tell everyone, well, the show started originally with Orange County and it was desperate, a spinoff of Desperate Housewives. Yeah. Even back then, historically, throughout all franchises and all the years, even when the OGs left, I think none of them were married.
Starting point is 00:34:32 So you've never had Bethany wasn't married when she first started. Was she divorced? Because I felt like that was a requirement in the beginning. You had to at least had been married. Or had been married, divorced. Well, I've called off engagements. I have engagements. So it's like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:45 But yeah, it's, and even when I was like going through my, the interview process, I remember I kept asking them, I was like, is this the bachelorette? I should probably be on like the bachelorette or something like that. You would be a great bachelorette. You also kind of have like a Caitlin Bristow vibe now. I'm seeing that right now. I think we're friends on Instagram. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:02 Yeah. Someone told me that too. But I kept asking them. I was like, look, I'm not some like rich wife married to some like, you know, Upper East Side tycoon. And I was like, I'm single. I do fine for myself because I don't have kids or like mouths to feed, you know, but I'm not like rolling in it. And I was like, and I don't have a husband and I'm not, you know, like what?
Starting point is 00:35:22 And I rent. I don't even own my apartment. I rent it, you know, like what? And I rent. I don't even own my apartment. I rent it, you know, in West Village. I was like, I think you guys, I felt like I was applying, like lying on my resume for real job. But I was like, I'm trying to be honest here. Do you guys know? Like, you know, I think you got the wrong girl.
Starting point is 00:35:34 And they're like, no, you're perfect. So how was that process? Did Bravo reach out to you? Did you see a casting call or? No, no, they reached out to me. They found me through a mutual friend, a really dear friend of mine. And she knew the casting director. And I guess they asked her for a group of names of girls.
Starting point is 00:35:54 And they had been interviewing. I think they were interviewing people for like two years or something. And I've heard, I don't know if this is true, but they interviewed like a couple thousand of women. And so I think they were pretty desperate when they got to me. And they were like, hey. Because my thing was really quick. I was in the south of France when I got the note. And I had like three Zooms.
Starting point is 00:36:15 And that was it. It was quick. It was like two weeks. It was easy peasy. I was hammer time. I was so drunk. I would take like two shots of tequila because I was like, what am I doing with my life? Like what am I doing with my life? Like, what am I doing? I like canceled my real work meetings in order to like
Starting point is 00:36:27 put on like a pink feathered called Gaia dress and put my hair in a ponytail and took three shots, like one in the afternoon. I was like, hi guys, I'm Brynn. You know what I'm saying? Want to hear about my like, all my like breakups? You know, they were like, yeah. Yeah. So it was just, and I didn't think, I just, I did it. I took the meetings because I was like, this is going to be another funny Brynn story. Like, guess what I I did because I have so many crazy ass stories in my life I've lived like 15 lives you should write a book I know that's what everyone says because I've only shared two people's like oh my god your life I was like I've shared 10% maybe like 20% of my life on the show to date yeah like 10 from my childhood or in my 20s and like the things and
Starting point is 00:37:03 relationships and families and like life and like I've shared like a small fraction like there's so much more tears and laughter and crazy stuff but yeah you love books I feel like you're gonna have to write a book eventually I know right maybe it's in the cards to read but yeah but it was it was very very interesting with the interview process and and getting it and it's just I'm still shocked it's crazy I was on a flight and I saw like the person next to me, because I still fly premium economy. Premium economy though.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Yeah. We're working our way up. You need a little bit extra leg room. Yeah. And like the free cocktail. You better fly your business. That's different. Totally.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm watching and I see like a screen and I see someone's watching the show on a flight. And I was like, that's crazy to me. Does that ever weird you out when you're like, like there's billboards in LA. And I was like, I'm on to me. Does that ever weird you out when you're like, like there's billboards in LA and I was like, I'm on a billboard, dude. Like I get so weird.
Starting point is 00:37:49 I'm like, sometimes like I'm on TV and it's so crazy to me and cool and cute. Yeah. No, it is. And I mean the getting recognized on planes and all of that, this is just the beginning. Yeah. I'll have the flight attendants come up
Starting point is 00:38:02 and they're like, oh my God, love you. Oh my God, yeah. I love the people that whispered on the DL. Yeah. No, totally. Yeah. Okay, they're like, oh my God, love you. Oh my God, yeah. I love the people that try to whisper it on the DL that they're a fan. No, totally. Seriously. Yeah. Okay, we're going to take one more quick little break and then we'll wrap it up. This episode is brought to you by Saks.com.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Okay, y'all, let me tell you, it is all happening at Saks.com. Shopping on their website has become my go-to for gifts for friends because they literally have something for everyone, even myself. Like when I have time to scroll for whether it's new wardrobe inspo or whatever, just to shop for myself, which doesn't happen all the time being a busy mom. But look, when it does, this is my spot. Their website is super easy to navigate.
Starting point is 00:38:41 This is my spot. Their website is super easy to navigate. They have a massive selection of brands and designers like Adidas, Alexander McQueen, Alice and Olivia, Armani Beauty, and that's just naming a few of the ones that start with the letter A. Zax.com has unique ways to shop for exactly what you're looking for, like by occasion, for exactly what you're looking for, like by occasion, trends, or even by your star sign for my astrological lovers out there. Okay. So for example, I recently shopped by their It's a Date section for a night out that I had with my husband and I found the perfect outfit to surprise him with. They even have a revenge dressing category. And I know I have a
Starting point is 00:39:25 few friends who could browse that section. They also have a 90s revival one that I personally love because it's legit all the stuff I wore when I was younger. And I love to see it coming back in style. So if you're like me and you love upgrading your wardrobe, then head over and start scrolling at Saks.com for new ways to shop for everything every day. Okay, so I know you've known Jessel a long time. Yes. And I am so curious what your take on her relationship, the no sex and the random flights to Vietnam.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Yes, yes, I know, right? This is like the hot button topic. Look, I feel like if you don't know people at face value and you're just picking apart certain facts and buzz things, it might seem a certain way. But I know Povit and Jessel. I've known them forever. First of all, Jessel's the funniest person on the show.
Starting point is 00:40:16 And I've said this since day one of filming. I said it since the, in every press interview, I'm like, Jessel's the star of the show. It's the Jessel show. And like, I feel like people are finally catching on. The girl is, I'm like funny with my jokes or whatever. And Aaron's quick and a New Yorker. Jessel's fucking batshit crazy and hilarious.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Like she is a caricature. She's like not a real human being. She's out of her mind. So you have to know Jessel. You have to know Povit. Their relationship is adorable and hilarious. It's like they could have their own show tomorrow i'm like they need to have like the jessalyn povitt show they have the most loving relationship and like
Starting point is 00:40:51 their relationship actually reminds me a lot of how i'm in a relationship like when i have a boyfriend i'm i'm always texting i'm like shut up i hate you or like you're such a dumb ass like that's my banter yeah you know but they have an absolutely amazing relationship. And the thing, like the no sex thing, look, I've never had a kid. First of all, I've had relationships where if the guy's going through something or whatever, where we haven't had sex for like a couple months, I've especially noticed if a guy's changing a job or something like that, or people go in and out. So if I've had it in my life where I'm not even married and the stress and kids, let alone twins and the process that they have yeah i get it like
Starting point is 00:41:25 you know like and i am married with a kid so uh so we definitely have dry spells not a year and a half yeah but i'm like i think though i think it is very relatable and unless you've had a child and unless you're married yeah that's something that people don't get because i remember back when katie and schwartz said they didn't have sex for months I'm like that is so weird who goes that long without sex and then when you're in I'm like oh I'm fine like we don't need to there's so many other important things that we're focusing on and intimacy is a different thing and and I just think that I think it ebbs and flows I think I've had it in my own relationships and for being such a flirt and being so whatever and I'm like I either go to
Starting point is 00:42:03 it I'm like a massive kink or I'm like completely I could do without sex for a long time yeah people don't think that about me yeah he's actually so I'm horny a lot but then I like go to this other place like the book side of me and I'm like I don't need I'm fine I have a writer like I just I'm so yeah there so I get it it makes sense to me and I think with the sandwich runs here's the crazy shit about Povet that's that's Povet though they're just these weird of Vietnam for people and I think with the sandwich runs, here's the crazy, she's a pov-it. That's pov-it though. They're just these quirky people. We're going to Vietnam for lunch. I'll be back in three days. He's like,
Starting point is 00:42:28 yeah, I really like this sandwich. I got to go. And she's like, go dude, whatever, I don't care. And that's just literally how they are.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Like I wish, and I think people are starting to see that. And once you see it and understand that's how they are, you'll appreciate how bonkers they are. Yeah. Because that's just them. Like that, she has lunch every day.
Starting point is 00:42:46 She's, like, lunching with people. Like, who lunches? Like, you know, she's like, hey, let's do lunch. You're like, oh, my God, hi, Shayna. And she's like, I love your podcast, you know? Yeah. Like, she'll just, like, pop in here and bop around and probably trip on something and sit there
Starting point is 00:42:58 and be wearing a ridiculous outfit. Yeah. And then Povit comes in. He's the sweetest guy ever. And then, yeah, he'll just, like, wander off. He'll be like, oh, I'm going to go here. I'm going to go to fly down to Miami because, Miami because I love the carbone down there has better pasta. It's like they just do crazy shit.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Yeah. And you know what? Whatever works for them. Exactly. It works. That's all that matters. Will everyone be at BravoCon? I think Jenna Ben is not going.
Starting point is 00:43:19 I'm trying to convince Jenna. I said, please just fly in. I will get you a chopper. Fly in. Like come and have a moment. I was like, you got to come to one. All of us are going. Erin and I have a booth by each other.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Okay, fun. And yeah, everyone else is coming. But hopefully, we're trying to get Jenna to come. Like, her schedule is like crazy because she's Miss Fabulous. But we're trying to like, she's got to do like a guest appearance. We can bring her in a la Taylor Swift, like in some sort of like kitchen giant thing. Absolutely. I was like, it'll all be undercover.
Starting point is 00:43:44 She's like, shut up. But hopefully, she'll come too. So it's going to be fun. undercover. She's like, shut up. But hopefully she'll come too. But it's going to be fun. Yeah, no, I'm so excited. Do you guys start filming again soon? We don't know. Yeah, we have no idea. Is this what they do?
Starting point is 00:43:53 Yeah, no, it's totally what they do. I just know because it was like Christmas time last year. I didn't know if it would start up again soon. Right, we started last year in October. Word on the street is, or what like investigators that we have to say, is like supposedly how the timeline goes, it would be like in late winter, early but how does it like work like do they we always film in the summer okay because they always wanted us in bikinis so that just kind of became our thing
