And now, here's your host, Sheena Shea. Hello, hello, everyone. We are fresh back from the wedding, back from Mexico. I have my husband here to do a wedding recap podcast with me and my sister to ask the tough questions because I just feel that it works better on the podcast when it's the three of us and you ask the questions and we give the answers. Totally.
Starting point is 00:01:45 How are you guys? Good. There were so many questions to sift through. Yeah. I mean, I'm stoked. We had such a great weekend. Was it a weekend? It was a wedding week.
Starting point is 00:01:57 I mean, it started, we got in on Saturday. We were there until Thursday. It was just the best vacation I've ever had in my life. It was so beautiful. This resort, I'm telling you guys, if you want to plan a destination wedding, if you want to do that in Mexico, Cancun specifically, if you have kids, I can't say it enough. I highly, highly recommend and no this is not an ad i just really loved dreams natura it was great for the kids but also for our friends who were single like they still had fun there's rock climbing there's zip lining there was so much to do i it was an eventful it was eventful time with family and friends, and they made it very special.
Starting point is 00:02:48 So we are giving them a lot of love because I'll tell you what. It was the best. I mean, our wedding planner, Shelby, with Simply Classic Events, her and her fiance, Charlie, they completely crushed it. So as you guys know, Brock and I were originally planning a Bali November wedding. I wanted to do 11-11-22. I just loved the numerics of that. And I wanted to do it in Bali where we fell in love. But with COVID and quarantine and restrictions and things not being refundable, it wasn't going to make sense for us to go all the way to Bali. So Shelby and Charlie convinced us to go to Mexico. My sister and I went down to Mexico in March.
Starting point is 00:03:33 We looked at four venues. And the second we walked into Dreams, right, it was just the vibes, everything about it, the room we sat down in, the video that played showing us that we could have the glass platform over the pool with the beach it just i feel like we weren't even there for very long we weren't making the decision no we were probably there the shortest out of all four resorts and we just knew the second we got there i know you didn't even see it before i chose you
Starting point is 00:04:00 just trusted me well yeah happy wife happy life right i was already on that move smart man, I think it was when you guys came back, told us about it. You know, Shelby came up with some options. The pandemic really limited traveling. And so that was all taken into account. So I'm glad we pulled the trigger and I'm glad we went over it. Yeah. So let's get stuck into the wedding details. What was your, before we get going, Courtney, what was your highlight moment of that trip? Oh yeah. I saw a question came in and said, what was your rose and what was your thorn? Yeah. A lot of people ask for your peak and your pit. There's so many ways to say that. Oh, I like that one. The rose and the thorn. Cool. You can go first. Okay. My personal ones. Okay. Well, I think the white party, the white welcome party was such like started off with a bang. I was so surprised with the
Starting point is 00:04:42 fire dancers, with like that water drummer, the photo booth everything like i was just shocked like it was the first thing we had really seen the resort perform you know like the food was amazing so i think that was probably like the peak like everything from there was just like smooth sailing and great so i think that was the best part my opinion uh-huh and then pits then pits. Honestly, I feel like. I'm the pressure. It wasn't really a lot of negative. I've got an, I got,
Starting point is 00:05:10 I got a, I got a, I don't think I have one. I got a thorn. Is it a person or a thing? It has nothing to do with people. It was a thorn in it. It's mother nature at his finest.
Starting point is 00:05:19 And it was the mosquitoes. Okay. That's what I was going to say. A hundred percent. They're still itchy. Yeah. That was, that was was my form of the whole trip. The only thing I would say about Cancun is maybe not August.
Starting point is 00:05:31 It was pretty warm. But when we were there in March, when we were there in June, I mean, everything was perfect. But yes, the mosquitoes, it was pretty bad. Poor Summer's face. My arm got tore up.
Starting point is 00:05:43 What was your... Ooh, my rose. Rose. So originally it was Summer on the water drums. Like I could cry. That moment was so incredible. If you guys haven't seen it, I posted a reel. I've posted a highlight on my Instagram. It was such an amazing moment, but I, and this is just so different so I do I have two roses but right before I walked down the aisle a rainbow just out of nowhere it didn't even rain that day and a rainbow appeared and it just felt like a sign from you know the baby we lost my grandparents just it was just so special and the fact that I was walking down the aisle to the Hawaiian version of the song Israel, I don't know how to pronounce his last name, but you guys know what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:06:33 The somewhere over the rainbow song. And there was a fucking rainbow in the sky. I mean, money can't buy that. The richest people in the world cannot buy that. And it just, yeah, I lost it right before I walked down the aisle. And every time I talk about it, they got everyone. They've walked out first. And then I'm walking out with mom and I'm looking down and making sure she gets onto
Starting point is 00:06:59 because we had to walk across this bridge across the water. And as we take a couple of steps in, I'm like, okay, you're good, mom. And I look up and I was like, and just and i was already emotional i don't know i think it was like what courtney said the white party would just really set the tone it was such a high like i didn't even expect it to be everything it was we almost didn't do the white party because of budget you know we were like we we, here's what we did. So when we sat down, we said, give us everything. If we have, fuck you money, just everything.
Starting point is 00:07:31 And let's see how much it costs. And then we'll cut back from there. So once we saw how much everything was going to cost, we're like, okay, let's scale it back. Maybe we don't need this. Maybe we don't need that. But the fact that Shelby and Charlie and Dreams Natura were still able to make,
Starting point is 00:07:50 like I said, this is why they have the name of the resort Dreams because they make dreams come true. And the fact that we were able to stay within budget and still get everything we wanted was just incredible. Shelby had a great relationship with the hotel, but also with the vendors, right?
Starting point is 00:08:08 And she really dialed that in and really made it like efficient. She cut some costs and then she doubled up on some other costs. And we can get into that more when we get to the questions, I think they come. But no, that was, so that was your, what's your thorn? I mean, yeah, the bites.
Starting point is 00:08:23 Oh, that wasn't even that bad no it wasn't it was just it was annoying yeah i ended up having i ended up uh repurposing your veil as a as a net and i put it over the bed but it was i think it was only for everyone that was on like lower levels closer to the water we were on the beach level if you're on the and it was sand flies too it wasn't just mosquito i was on the fifth floor and i didn't really experience it at all except when i was in your guys's room which was often yeah but i think that was the only downfall of an august cancun wedding staying on the beach level that was literally the only thing my my flower my rose was was my mom yeah that moment with my mom dancing with her i just
Starting point is 00:09:02 officially i just like i was crying all day all day guys I'm such a sook. When I'm in a safe space, I'm a sook. And then I had mom there and she gave a speech and that was it for me. I just enjoyed that dance. That was my rose. Your mom's speech was so good. And I will be posting a much longer vlog. Like I have my personal one that'll be coming out over the next two weeks we're separating it in two parts but then once we get all of the footage from our wedding photographers shout out to Morgan Taylor and his wife Rayma they are located in Seattle but they can travel wherever and the oh my god everything that they've got the photos his photoshop skills oh I'm impressed I mean there was one photo where Brock and I are completely off centered under the arch. And I was like, oh, my God, this is
Starting point is 00:09:51 driving my OCD crazy. Oh, no. The photo I post, you will see we are centered. I don't know how he did that because I'm pretty good at Photoshop. And I was like, oh, I don't know. Yeah. And then the other photo that I posted, I was like, when was that moment? Was that when we went back to take more photos? He's like, no, I photoshopped David, my cousin who married us out of the photo because our moment was so good right after that first kiss. He was like, I got to cut David out of it. And I'm like, you would have never known.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Wow. So good. So I will be posting a much longer video of our whole wedding. We'll post a bunch more reels because there's just so much. It was on point that from the start of it to the end of it, the vibe with everybody was just perfect. Our friends from everybody, all friends, backgrounds, we all got together and everyone was there for the right reasons. And then we just brought into it and everyone brought into it. The Mario ended up calling it FaceTime and his mom after my mom's
Starting point is 00:10:47 speech, like he called it was cool to have that connection with everybody. Like, okay. Yeah. Those were us from our family, but our guests and our friends had those same connections with their family and their friends. And I think that for me was a highlight highlight of the whole thing was everybody was on the same page. Totally. Yeah. So my questions are a little bit all over the place you've already touched on some of them but i think we can go in detail with a lot of them totally um how about before we get into all the questions we take a quick little break all right so there's those instagram ads that really just get your attention am i right one that really got my attention was Thrive Cosmetics. So I'm just scrolling through Instagram one day watching some stories and I see this liquid lash extensions mascara.
Starting point is 00:11:31 And I was like, I need to buy this right now. If my lashes without, you know, my Viva Verano lashes can look like this girl on the Instagram ad, sign me up. A great thing about Thrive Cosmetics is there's no parabens, sulfates, or anything like that. It's 100% vegan, cruelty-free, which is so important to me when it comes to cosmetics. And cause is actually in the name for a reason because every purchase supports organizations that help communities thrive. Thrive Cosmetics. Get it? I love it. So these products are amazing. The Liquid Lash Extension Mascara is just top notch. It's their best selling product. It has over 20,000 five star reviews. Like if that's not enough, I don't know what is. It's ultra lengthening. It goes all day without clumping. It's the mascara that you never need to reapply. It doesn't lengthening. It goes all day without clumping.
Starting point is 00:12:25 It's the mascara that you never need to reapply. It doesn't smudge. It doesn't flake. It mimics the look of lash extensions without the damaging glue or, you know, just having to sit there and get your lash extensions. I mean, it can take forever. I know because I've done it so many times. It's take forever. I know because I've done it so many times. It's easy removable. The tubing
Starting point is 00:12:45 formula just slides right off with warm water and a washcloth. You don't even need soap or makeup wipes or anything like that. The cause with Thrive, they have, like I said, every product purchase, they donate to help communities thrive. So right now is a great time to try Thrive Cosmetics for yourself. Okay, so going back to the rainbow, did you notice the rainbow yourself walking down the aisle or did you just hear everyone talking about it? So one of the ladies who worked at the resort ran over to me right before the song started and showed me the photo.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And I was like, why did you show that to me? I lost it. And so then right when I walked out, it was still there. But I think by the end of the ceremony, like in those 20 minutes, it was gone. It was it. You caught it at the perfect moment. It was there.
Starting point is 00:13:46 And I was going to say, it's not like it's Hawaii there where there's a rainbow once, twice a day. Exactly. That was the only rainbow I saw on the entire trip. Entire trip.
Starting point is 00:13:53 And the timing of it. The fact that I was coming down the aisle to somewhere over the rainbow, I can't get over it. Well, honey, so- Like if you don't believe in a higher power or anything, like that's got to make you
Starting point is 00:14:03 believe in something, honey. Listen, whatever it was, was perfect. Because obviously you got the heads up, but Dave walked out and then I went out second. I saw it and it just smacked me like a, and then I looked at our friends and everyone kind of like realized that they all saw it. They're like the rainbow.
Starting point is 00:14:16 And I was like, fucking rainbow. Yeah. And then walked in the front and then sat down and then everyone else started whispering. They're like, wait, what is going on? If you weren't, if they weren't in on it, then they realized real quickly what was going on and they're looking up and then they're like, and then that was it.
Starting point is 00:14:29 When the song, I completely forgot about the song. And then the song hit and I just started like, everybody was crying. It was ridiculous. I was dying at one of our, I'm not going to say who, but one of our wedding guests, who is a very extremely wealthy man. He came up to me at the reception. He goes, Sheena, even I couldn't buy that rainbow. to say who, but one of our wedding guests, who is a very extremely wealthy man, he came up to me at the reception. He goes, Sheena, even I couldn't buy that rainbow. I was like, you're right. Money can't buy that. Oh, those were memories right there. Oh, so good. Okay,
Starting point is 00:14:56 we'll start a little bit at the beginning. This person said, your wedding is my dream wedding. How long did it take to plan and how was the planning process? So we obviously we started talking about getting married last summer. That didn't work out the whole shotgun wedding and stuff. Then we kind of put a pause on wedding plans. Thank you for no shotgun wedding. I'm so glad that that didn't work out. Seriously, because this was also like my dream wedding that I didn't even know what my dreams were until we were there and we were in it. So the planning started end of March when my sister and I went out there to look at venues. And then we gave it kind of a month until we sent out our invitations. So from end of April, we had all of what May, June, July. I mean, we planned the wedding really
Starting point is 00:15:38 in less than four months. Yeah, it was four months and then there were stages of it. Right. And then our wedding planner really helped us break it down to like the first one was kind of venue where did we want to go once we did that that was and she really it really she never overstepped her boundaries i'm like hey what about this we didn't i didn't i never felt like we had were bombarded or like over like you know what i mean like we didn't feel like that so over that four months locked in this then we did the next steps then we went to the list and we did this and this and this so she did that was really fun and that was the easiest part about that everyone's like what do you expect i had no idea what to expect but whatever we got was was not what i expected oh my god i feel like that was really fast like a fast planning process compared to most weddings
Starting point is 00:16:16 it was because we were originally planning bali for november so you know we still would have had a couple months more to plan. But then when Shelby suggested maybe doing Mexico instead, I don't know why I was just thinking, oh, summer would be perfect because I was thinking that hurricane season was more in fall. Yeah. When, yeah. Can't get as hot as the balls. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Hot. Yeah, that's the only thing I maybe wouldn't recommend August. But I just was thinking summer is the perfect time to have a beach wedding. It was perfect for the beach wedding. Yeah. We were a bit warm, but to be honest, it's also low season,
Starting point is 00:16:54 I guess it's also cheaper too. So if someone's looking for balling on a budget, you can still have that. What I would recommend is get like, this is for anyone planning a wedding at dreams or dreams to do it is to get everyone knows fans and have like married, like his and her fans to give to guests. If you had that, that's it. Game over.
Starting point is 00:17:10 That would have been cute to have in like the rooms for everyone. Everyone could have a fan. And so, but that's like food for thought for everybody else planning a destination wedding. Yeah. It's cheaper when we went, because obviously the season, we hire seasons when it's better weather. But also you got to look at your dates when it is and then if you were to go that way that would be a cheaper option a hundred bucks to get people nice fans made up for your wedding i think that'll be a good change yeah i should have done that well i would say next time but there won't be a next time
Starting point is 00:17:37 so next time we do a vacation or something how hard was it to stick how hard was it to stick to your budget? And was there anything you regretted getting that wasn't worth the money? The budget was, that was like the key thing. It was like, this is the budget, stay within it. Wait, did it make a difference that you guys got married on a Tuesday? Definitely. It was, yeah. Okay. Yeah. And everyone needs to understand like, that's another one. It's like, we're at a destination of winning. We didn't know what day but if you get every day was a saturday exactly everyone's there for a time off so for us it doesn't matter but you're 100 correct if you do a wedding and you do it in the middle of the week it's a lot cheaper than trying to book it out on the weekends yeah vendors are cheaper everything everything the whole thing cooks help all of that is a lot cheaper middle of the week
Starting point is 00:18:21 because that's their downtime and so and then when work on a budget, just being smart, if we did that in America, if we did that here in California. Oh my God, six figures easily. Over, over. But what was great too about Shelby and Dreams is we were able to like repurpose all of our flowers from the ceremony. They then moved our flowers from the ceremony to the reception. And then those that were down the aisle became the centerpieces. And so we were able to literally cut our flower budget in half by repurposing the flowers from the ceremony to the reception. So this resort and our wedding planner were so good at being able to pivot, be creative with like hiding those costs because yeah, it's
Starting point is 00:19:02 like, all right. Cause generally when we went through the costs, we, this is what we want. We're like, well, hang on. Why do we, can we do this? And it's obviously just asking them to do more work, but the team, they crushed it. They were like, you know what? It's not a hard thing to ask. Obviously we need an hour because we're already taking photos. So they did.
Starting point is 00:19:18 And they were, they were the whole staff were running around from the start of that wedding two days before it to the end of that wedding. They were doing everything. Perfect. Also, when we asked James Kennedy to DJ the after party, he did not say how much he said. Absolutely. Yeah, he did. We saved some money there too.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Thank you, James. He crushed it. If you were at that after party, it was a commitment because it was kind of, it was definitely warm, definitely warm. We needed the fans. We needed the fans. But once you were on that dance floor and James had a, it was pumping, like it was a vibe and it was like, you know what? This is the middle of a festival party.
Starting point is 00:19:50 So good. Right here. You're in it. So he crushed it. Thanks, James. Yeah. So we were able to, you know, call in some favors, repurpose flowers and do things like that to stay within our budget.
Starting point is 00:20:00 But I mean, we were right there. Yeah. We were teeter-tottered. I think. Yeah. It was good. I think if. I think we actually ended up going a little over because we extended the after party an extra hour because at the end of the night they came they're like oh we need you to sign this and I was like what is it and they're like well the extra I was like oh yeah I thought I
Starting point is 00:20:17 already paid for that so we did go maybe like 1500 over that That was it. So it was worth it though. Yeah. Did you guys use Simply Classics for your travel agent too? Yeah. So I didn't realize that Shelby and Charlie not just planned weddings, but they also act as travel agents. So when people were booking rooms, they're like, oh, I spoke to your travel agent. And I was like, so my travel agent, that's my wedding planner. But I was like, oh no, she actually is also a travel agent. So, I mean, if you guys are trying to just book a trip, you know, plan a birthday party, they don't just do destination weddings. They literally do everything and they do the travel. So I even had Jason and Pandora, unfortunately, weren't able to make the wedding, but Shelby helped them with their Hawaii
Starting point is 00:21:02 vacation. Yeah. Like she's just able to, you know, do all of that because yeah, travel agent skills. Well, yeah. Once you're in the industry, you kind of understand the industry and she's an expert in traveling industry. So that's what she does well. And then if you guys are looking to have a connect, go for it, I guess. Yeah. Did anything not go as planned? You seem so chill this time around. I really was. And here's what's funny. So right before I walked down the aisle, like Shelby knew what happened at my first wedding with the music. And she's like, I will make sure your music is perfect. And so James remixed the Somewhere Over the Rainbow song for us. So the
Starting point is 00:21:37 instrumental part was doubled as long because the song was supposed to start when Summer started walking down. So then by the time I start walking down, it was the lyrics and then summer's walking down and it was still the instrumental Bee Gees. How deep is your love? And I was like, wait, the song and Shelby's like, it's fine. Everything's fine. And then instantly it switched. And so it ended up being fine that I just came down to this song, but I was like, shall we? I go, it wouldn't be my wedding if the music didn't get a little fucked up right before I walked down the aisle.
Starting point is 00:22:06 That's funny, shall we? But no one would have known because it was like, that was my song, but I had him make it extra long so we both could walk down to it. But it was like, that wasn't even a big deal. Well, to be honest, I feel like for where we were standing watching it,
Starting point is 00:22:21 it kind of was perfect because we already had Summer taking the spotlight. It doesn't matter what song you're playing. She walked out there and she was just cute. Yeah. And everyone was just like, look. And then when your song played, it really hit home. Everyone was like, wow.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Yeah. So it was perfect. It ended up working out perfectly. Look, Shelby was very brushed with some of the boys and the girls because, you know, when you're trying to manage people this much, but I'll tell you what she didn't do. And your boys, man. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:22:49 I'll tell you what she didn't do. She didn't fluster you or us. She said, it's all fine. And even if it was burning behind us, she was like, it's fine. And she'll turn around and yell at everybody to get stuff sorted. She treated me and Sheena like queens. Yeah. Totally.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Everyone was like, yo, she's pretty, she's like pretty hot on us. Like even the boys. I was like, it's because have you met you boys? Because she gets shit done. That's the thing. She kept everyone in order. Yeah. And she's like, you don't need to know unless you need to know.
Starting point is 00:23:14 And I'll tell you if you need to know. Yeah. It was kind of like, oh, that's perfect. Yeah. So it was good. We're on a need to know basis. Exactly. You need to be in the pool drinking until you need to know otherwise.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Ariana asked, how many surprises total were there for you guys? So Shelby and Dreams threw in some extra things that we were not expecting. I did not know that we were going to have fireworks at the end of our reception. That was something I cut from the budget because I was like, yeah, that's out of our budget. It's a little too expensive. But we brought so many people to the resort. We filled our room block. The resort ended up being sold out. And that was just a little thing they did for us. So that was incredible. Also, I got this nice shiny new ring from Brock from Ring Come True.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Ring Come True. Oh, yeah. There's questions about about that why did you change your ring so i've been wearing the wedding band that kyle chan made for us for the past year because my ring is too big i know first world problems but i didn't want a ring that was almost 13 carats it's too big we have a baby it's just not sheena didn't know until until i told her like i'd size the ring and she was like what's that for i was like it's a surprise but i i think for me we did get in a really nice ring from kyle but then at the same time she doesn't wear it half the time yeah because it is beautiful we just wear the band and sometimes she forgets
Starting point is 00:24:40 wearing out like her actual ring so for me i, I was like, okay. And I actually reached out to them and they're experts in, you know, moistenite diamonds. And so they're like, look, if you are into alternative rings, we saw Sheena's ring. We love it. We'd love to show you what we do. And so with the world today, it's like you don't need to be spending, I believe, that much because this is still a beautiful moistenite diamond but what they did is they just made it perfect they got the exact size
Starting point is 00:25:08 we wanted and then so once i received it i was like okay i'm gonna keep this and then when we get married i'm gonna give it to you as the gift so she didn't see it until we got married and i was worried because it didn't slide on the finger no it's just it's just the knuckle yeah but that was the thing too is i didn't want to have the same ring that I've already been wearing for a year. I was like, no, this is, you know, we're getting. You got a new one. Yeah. So that was another surprise.
Starting point is 00:25:33 And the photo booth, too. I didn't know there was going to be that 360 photo booth at the welcome party. I had a feeling the fire dancers and water drums, like I thought that that was still going to be a part of it because we were pivoting. We're like, we'll just do the welcome party in the lobby. We'll just do this. We'll do that. And Shelby's like, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:25:50 I've handled it. It's fine. You're going to get everything you want. And I was like, no, no, but Shelby, the budget, the budget. She goes, we're working it out. You literally sound just like her. And so that was amazing.
Starting point is 00:26:02 But then when I got there and I saw the photo booth, I'm like, shush. She's like, I told you I had a surprise for you. And so that was amazing. But then when I got there and I saw the photo booth, I'm like, sure. She's like, I told you I had a surprise for you. And so good. So good. How did you guys feel with your first look with each other? I loved that we did that because I feel like it took extra pressure off.
Starting point is 00:26:18 It just made it so much like because there's just all this buildup, you know, and if you're a fan of 27 dresses like I am you want that moment where the husband's standing at the aisle and he sees you for that first time but you can still have that first time it doesn't have to be the moment at the end of the aisle I think it was uh for right for me it was this it was nerve-wracking standing there waiting for you to come in and I'm like can someone give me a heads up like because I've been standing there for like three minutes just nervous nervous but I'm so glad can someone give me a heads up? Like, cause I've been standing there for like three minutes, just nervous, nervous wreck. But I'm so glad it happened like that
Starting point is 00:26:47 because we got to have a little cry. We got to like come back down and then really be happy for the moment that we're in. And then perfect until we walked down and saw a rainbow. I know, but what I also loved about us doing the first look is if you guys haven't seen already, Brock and I do our dirty dancing move wherever we can. We did it when I was pregnant. We've done it from the day we met until our wedding night.
Starting point is 00:27:11 It's been a minute. It's been a minute since we pulled it out. And I was like, look, this dress, this like French lace, I forget what it's called. It's heavy. I don't know that my core is strong enough to do the lift. I know you're strong, but I'm like, I still have to use my core and lift my legs. And this dress is heavy. So the fact that we did a first look, we were able to practice the lift before. We were waiting for this guy. And we crushed it, honey. We did so good.
Starting point is 00:27:38 He held it. We did a full rotation. Then I was like, I'm done. He's like, nope, it's okay. I was like, oh, okay, we're still going. We're still going. I was like, we got this. Just stay up there as long it's okay. I was like, oh, okay, we're still going. We're still going. I was like, we got this. Just stay up there as long as we can.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Let's talk about your look a little bit more. Did you fly with your dress as a carry-on? So I flew with my after-party dress as a carry-on, hanging up with his suit. But my gown came with the actual designer. So Paula Too and his husband, Patrik Simpson, they brought that as their carry on. They were like, no, no, no. We are going to travel with your dress, your overskirt, your veil. That
Starting point is 00:28:10 will be our baby. We're bringing it to you. And that helped me so much too. Cause I'm like, we got the baby. We have so many bags and things already. So to not have to think about that big ass dress was great. Yeah. And then I ended up getting my suit made with art. Yeah. Art Lewin. Art Lewin. Yeah. So he ended up putting that together.
Starting point is 00:28:28 And the thought behind the white suit, head to toe, was big RVO. Yeah. Ron, he actually got married. Sheena's dad and Courtney's dad, he got married to Erica in all white suits. So that was kind of the inspiration. Sheena was like, we should do all white. I was like, yeah, let's do an all white. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:44 We both didn't see each other in our gowns until first look and it was pretty cool i was pretty stoked our gowns sheena what happened to your veil oh my gosh so the wind was so strong when we got up and i turned it was literally ripping my hair out like it hurt but i was like i mean beauty is pain pain is beauty it's fine i'll leave it hurt but i was like i mean beauty is pain pain is beauty it's fine i'll leave it but then i was like the whole ceremony i'm like my head but i mean it would have been the whole ceremony so right then i heard someone was like take it off and i was like yeah fuck it and then mom's like keep it on i was like wait should i try and keep it on and then they're like switch sides the wind's going i was like okay we'll switch sides and i
Starting point is 00:29:20 tried to switch sides the veil still i was like nope we're not doing a veil. We got a photo. It's fine. But the photo we got, that was all we needed. We had the long ass veil blowing in the wind. I think a veil is just for a photo. But the amount of extension. So what Brittany did with my hair, shout out to Brittany Brown and Candice Brock.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Her last name's Brock. I love it. Oh wait, this question was, your hair, all the details about how you chose the style, how long it took, did it hold? Answer all of those. Okay. So Brittany and I did a couple trials. And the first one we did was several months ago when my hair was really short and the extensions did not blend. So I was like, okay, I'm going to grow my hair out until the wedding and then I'll trim it again because I do like my hair short now.
Starting point is 00:30:03 until the wedding, and then I'll trim it again because I do like my hair short now. But I was like, what if we try where we braid most of it under and then just do the extension so there's less short pieces? So I have all of these braids. I have all of these extensions. And then the veil stuffed into the extensions that right when it started pulling, I was like, the hair is going to come out with the veil. We got to take the veil out. And Candice has been doing my glam. So I met Candace at Sur actually,
Starting point is 00:30:29 like season two. And she was a fan of the show. And then once I saw her makeup, I became a fan of her work. And every time I would go down to San Diego, she would do my makeup. And then when we lived in San Diego, you know, photo shoots and maternity photos and all of that are not maternity, our engagement photos. She's done my makeup for so many things. And she and Shelby have been friends since like grade school. And it was just crazy, just like the San Diego community. And then she knew Brittany. And so just to have my wedding planner glam squad, I'll be friends from like childhood was really cool. And I've known Candace for so long. So they absolutely crushed my glam every day.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Welcome party, rehearsal dinner, and the wedding. Yeah, crushed it. Yeah. And then tell us about your ripaway dress during the dance. Okay. So this is the one thing. I don't want to say it was a regret, but I'm like, honey, let me rip off my own dress. So we had this over skirt made that hooked in and in a part of the dance.
Starting point is 00:31:32 What was your first dance song as well? Oh, Leon Bridges, Beyond. That song has been so special to us from the beginning of our relationship. And I'm like, one day, if we ever get married, this will be our song. And boom, there was also a festival we went to that Leon Bridges was playing at. And I only wanted to see that one song and you made us late.
Starting point is 00:31:52 And we got there for the very end of the song. And so that song's just always, it's been in our relationship. But during this dance, Brock's like, I want to like rip off your dress. And then like, it's this like reveal. And I was like, okay, but honey, the way the clips are, I know how to take it off.
Starting point is 00:32:06 So I'll take it off and then we'll toss it. And then in the moment, you're like, let me do it. Let me do it. And right when I go to unhook it, then you go and then you stepped on it. And then I was like, you stepped on it. I knew what I was doing. I know. But so what was in my head, you were spinning out.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Yeah, that wasn't going to happen. We didn't practice that. But I pushed it and moved the hip. You were spinning out. Yeah, that wasn't going to happen. We didn't practice that. But I pushed it and moved the hip. You were spinning that way, but then you just stood straight onto your dress. Yeah, because that wasn't how I planned it. I planned to go unhook, toss, and then you wanted to do unhook, spin. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:32:39 I'm not the best spinner. It would have been like an unhook on one side and then a- Yeah, that's what we had. That's what you did wrong. You should have unhooked one at a time and then spun her. Listen, we did well. It was fine for not practicing. Okay. But it was still a fun little element to then take the over skirt off and then have the
Starting point is 00:32:54 little reveal during our dance and then the dirty dancing. And it was fun. Yeah. Brock, did you do your own hair? Did you have a hairstylist? My hairstylist. Brittany came up and pulled the hair back for me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:06 You know, it's the standard look. Back. I've been too crazy. Back and bun. Yeah. Sheena, did you like this wedding look better compared to your first wedding look? One thousand percent. And it's funny because the first wedding, at the time I had the ombre blonde hair.
Starting point is 00:33:21 And I remember thinking like, these are going to be my wedding photos forever. Like, why didn't I go back to brunette? Yeah. The ombre was such a moment. It was. But it was in 2014. That was the look. So, no, I loved everything about this look.
Starting point is 00:33:39 I felt it was very just classic. And I loved it. This one's just funny. They said, why can't Brock stop or why can Brock not stop wearing mesh shirts? Yeah, no, I like the vibe. I love that shirt. I want to borrow that one from the welcome party. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:33:57 Yeah, no, I'm a fan of just wearing clothes that are cool. I don't know. I've got a very, I don't know what you think my style is, but I don't even know if it's a style, but I wear what I want to wear, and that is what it is, you know? Yeah. And that's cool. I don't know. I've got a very, I don't know what you think my style is, but I don't even know if it's a style, but I wear what I want to wear. And that is what it is, you know? And that's it. So sorry if you think I have to explain your style. It's like, who's your stylist? I don't have one. One of my friends, I forget who it was, but recently reached out to me and was like, Hey, where does Brock shop or who is his stylist? Because I want everything he wears. ASOS, baby.
Starting point is 00:34:25 ASOS. There you go. There's the plug. Yeah. And Fashion Nova Men. Wait, actually, they took care of us for the wedding. I actually was dropping the ball on the suits for the groomsmen. And then I ended up ordering a pair of their pants and their white shirts.
Starting point is 00:34:39 And I was like, wait, this is perfect. So that's what the guys were dressed up in. And then all the party shirts for the bachelor party. So we had the groomsmen on the day, have the white pants, the brown tan pants, the white button up. And then for the pucks party, I reached out to them. I was like, listen, I love a good party shirt. So can you guys, like, here's what I want to get. We get these for the boys. Like, you know, the problem.
Starting point is 00:34:58 And boom, Fashion Nova, mate. Party it up. Yeah. I feel like that was another way to stay in budget. Like Fashion Nova is super affordable. Exactly. It's like, why do you need to go? Well, okay. I feel like that was another way to stay in budget. Like Fashion Nova is super affordable. Exactly. It's like, why do you need to go? Well, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:07 I was looking at doing custom suits and then I realized the cost attached to that. So then we kept going back down without trying to lose the quality. I don't think we lost the quality. No. I think we kept it, but we were more affordable. Yeah. And that is what it is. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:20 Let's move on to guests. So how many guests did you guys have total? We ended up with 118. So we wanted to always keep it under 150. But then as we started inviting people, people couldn't come. And then once we really did work out the budget with the dinner and everything like, okay, 120 is our maximum. And we were teetering around 120. And then last minute, some people couldn't come. maybe some people didn't want to come and we ended up at 118 got it yeah what's the tea on that i've heard that there's a certain someone who maybe got disinvited uh yeah i should i should stay off social media i should stay out of it you
Starting point is 00:35:59 shouldn't comment things on social media i'll do better at this i really will do better at it i would just didn't want this conversation to be around my wedding. You know what I mean? But it is. Yeah, I know. We had a very public wedding. I feel like the answer to that is, listen, we had a very public, you're right, public wedding. And we wanted it to be intimate. And it definitely was still intimate. But the problem we have about having an intimate wedding at a public resort is people can still choose to come to the resort. I will say it was pretty cool. I know you didn't notice this because I was standing there. Obviously everyone walked down before I did, but before I walked down the aisle, every single person who was staying at the resort was out on
Starting point is 00:36:39 their balcony. There were so many people lined up. Like it kind of, it was the whole resort. It really was. Cause the whole resort it really was because the whole day before they're like what is going on like everything was getting set up everyone's like why are our pools getting shut down well hotel also offered the guests a pass to go to another hotel for the day because we did take over those two pools which was awesome from dreams but yeah i think the vibe was set that everyone that was going to be there was there yeah but obviously I should stay off social media stay out of the drama but I can't help myself no one was disinvited well I would like to say it was more of a choice there's always two sides to a story their choice okay yeah but very much backed by backed by us after the events that have transpired over the past few weeks.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Okay. Next question. Who do you wish was there that wasn't? Bryce Vine. Bryce, I apologize, brother. You got lost in the numbers. Like, listen, do you know how hard it is to take, especially from us? Like, here's the problem about having a limit on your, like how many people were at your
Starting point is 00:37:46 first wedding? 300. Perfect. But it was in California. I understand that. But then we cut it down to 150, right? Then we have to sit there at a table. You're included, Courtney, in this one.
Starting point is 00:37:55 And we have to debate against each other about whose friends is what, what the relationship was. You haven't talked to this person since college. They're not coming to our wedding. I can't even remember some of these people's names. yeah last names last names no that derrick jigger and i was like derrick cheater like derrick you're like i don't know who that is i was like you had him on the list honey derrick shout out i love you okay last crumb is a great great product you're killing it i know who you are but in the mix of names coming across i was having an argument i was
Starting point is 00:38:23 making a standpoint in the conversation. But look, there's plenty of people I regret that couldn't come. No, totally. Like the problem is like. There were several people. It was just originally when we were making the list. I mean, yeah, we put down everyone we knew. It was like 230 people.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Obviously, we weren't doing that. So then it was like, okay, family first. The family alone was like. It was like 60 people. It was like 80. Oh, it was like okay family first the family alone was like it was like 80 it was a lot no i think we ended up sending like 300 invites yeah like when i was on the back end of that and i think it was like ended up being a 50 50 yes no so you guys still invited 300 people perfect but once once you know people sent regrets, then we would send out like a second tier of invites. And yeah, that was my one. It's definitely hard.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Like we're obviously now the best part about, well, not the best part about it is like in San Diego, we're going to do something down there for our friends in San Diego. And then they all understand. And I hope they understand. And if they didn't understand, I apologize. I still love these guys, but it was a battle in the war zone. There was the war room in there trying to pull this out.
Starting point is 00:39:27 And we did it well. It was just so funny when Brock would be like, who is this? And Chino, you're like, that's your friend. I was in a mood. I was like, what's this? Yeah. But we got there. We got there.
Starting point is 00:39:37 And listen, Bryce, sorry about that. What about the rest of your family back in Australia? They couldn't make it. Obviously, the pandemic's been pretty tough on the world, and for my family, they definitely felt the struggles. The biggest part is like every time someone would get sick in the family, they couldn't go to work. So financially it was a big struggle for them. So what we are doing is once we get our wedding video put together, we're going to send it to them so they can have that moment. And then obviously when we go back to Australia, which is in the new year we're planning,
Starting point is 00:40:07 we'll get together and we'll spend some time for the family there. And they will see it. And obviously, I know there's a lot of questions. I know you have it on there, but with the kids, we're working on our relationship and it's not appropriate just to be like, hey, six months later after being hiatus for four years in their relationship, if not longer, to be like, hey, you want to come to the wedding? And so we didn't have that conversation because we're not there yet. And so the goal is to, at the end of the year, once we go back to Australia, keep working
Starting point is 00:40:31 on that. Definitely. Yeah. Okay. Good answer. Yeah. I'm seeing where these questions should go next. Oh, all right.
Starting point is 00:40:37 Will you change your last name? So Brock needs to actually change his name first because we want to take on the Honey name. I got to insert Honey in there. Keep Davies, but have a double. Welcome to LA. You can change your name whenever you want, right? So if I change my name now, then I would just be Sheena Marie Davies. And I want to be Sheena Marie Honey Davies.
Starting point is 00:40:58 So I can't technically change my name with our marriage certificate because his name legally isn't honey. And we want to legally add that. And then what, but your name, honey, is going to be, your name is going to be Sheena Marie. That's what you will know. Professionally. I'll probably just start to go back to Sheena Marie because there were a couple of things like love Paul too. And he crushed my dress. And on the inside, he was like, look what we did. And there was like this custom tag. And it was like this dress made specifically, especially for Sheena Shea. And I was like, oh, I wish I said Sheena Marie. Why do you do that? Because people just know my name is Sheena Shea and not a lot of people think of it as my ex-husband's last name. They think of it as a stage name or just that's my name. It's been my name for so long now. So I think professionally, and I do know
Starting point is 00:41:45 this podcast, you know, Shenanigans with Sheena Shea is one thing that may need to be rebranded or just we need to change the shade of Marie or just Shenanigans with Sheena. I think you could go by just a first name. Yeah. So maybe we just do that. But yeah, eventually the name will absolutely change. I do want to drop Shay. Yeah. But yeah. And on the last podcast too, you guys talked about Max attending and then he obviously wasn't there.
Starting point is 00:42:11 So a few people were wondering what happened to him. Oh, he is just- We're still wondering what happened to him. No, so he kind of just stopped responding to me and Schwartz. And I found out he's just been completely swamped at work. He is running the new, what's it called? Schwartz and Sandy's? No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:42:30 What's the spot we went to for Jenny Ting's? Lavo. Lavo. Yeah. They've got a new exclusive club next door there. So he's just swamped with that. Yeah, he's been so busy working, but I'm like, you still could have told me.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Don't just like not respond. Yeah. Because I get genuinely worried about people I care about and then I'm like are you okay like it's fine if you can't make the wedding just let me know yeah because I've already paid for your spot but it ended up working out because my friend Pascal she just got engaged her fiance was just coming on the trip wasn't coming to the wedding initially and since it was already paid for and max was sitting at her table i was like hey dan your name's now max a million that was also another way like to keep the cost down plus one sorry bro no plus ones if we can't invite our friends that we will fight for your plus one
Starting point is 00:43:16 is not happening yeah you know and that was the same with james right obviously you'll see how that played out it ended up working out andie came and I was really happy she did. Yeah. What about Lisa? Lisa wasn't there. A lot of people noticed that. I know. She said it was too far. She said she had already attended one of my weddings and she threw me a very beautiful send off up at her house the week of. So that was nice, but she was definitely missed. Yeah. Okay. Let's get into Summer. Did Summer enjoy the wedding? She looked adorable. And any tips on how you got her to do such an amazing job dropping the flowers?
Starting point is 00:43:52 Practicing for months. I mean. Amazon, first and foremost. We got ourselves a little basket and then we got her some like fake petals. And then we just showed her the ropes. Just teaching her how to do it. Look, that kid is a genius. The one thing we let her throw on the floor. So she associated this, you know, basket of petals with being able to throw it.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Because when she throws her food, it's like, no, no, no, Summer. Don't throw your food on the floor. But this, we're like, throw it. She still doesn't listen. She goes, yeah, watch this. Oh, my God. It's so cute. I hope there's a clip of this.
Starting point is 00:44:20 But our mom switched the flower petals to little baby puffs. Oh, yes. During the ceremony. So she's watching you guys sit up there and talk. And she's flower petals to little baby puffs, like chips, during the ceremony. So she's watching you guys sit up there and talk, and she's just like chewing on her puffs, and it's so cute. She's like going into her basket for them. That's funny. People thought she was eating the flowers.
Starting point is 00:44:34 They're like, is anyone else watching this? Like Summer's literally putting her hand in and eating the flowers. It looked like she was eating popcorn, like she was watching like a really good movie. Oh, it was so cute. I mean. She crushed it. She really did. She was the star of the show. What was your favorite summer moment the whole trip? Oh, the water drums was epic. But
Starting point is 00:44:51 now watching back videos, the one I saw in person was the water drums. But now watching back videos when she stood up and was clapping for us right after and just all of those moments. She had she had some good moments mine was after tori sung she was up with us on the dance floor and then she reached over and i thought she wanted you so i'm like oh and then she wanted the mic so i walked over to the mic stand oh yeah she straight up took it out of the mic and was like oh i forgot about that i was like honey it was so cute bloody brilliant yeah she's might be a little performer, that one. She'll do it.
Starting point is 00:45:27 I don't know if you guys have talked about this on a previous wedding prep podcast, but people are still wondering, where's the honeymoon? But I guess it's more traditional. Like a lot of people, I guess, traditionally go to the honeymoon right after the wedding. So I think that's why people are a little like. Gotcha. Yeah. Look, listen, we just, we just budget.
Starting point is 00:45:43 I mean, the wedding, well, well yeah but like the wedding was the honeymoon you know we did a destination wedding and we stayed for a couple extra days so we gotta just you know relax and do that but i think eventually i know you want to take a trip yeah i want to surprise sheena with the honeymoon so she understands like the the context of it which would be like boroboro bahama, blue crystal water and all that stuff. And she'll know the date, but she's not going to know where. And so that will be the surprise. I think that's fine. You'll know the climate to pack for.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Yeah, you'll know what to expect and then it's just like a destination. Just put me on a hut out in the middle of the water somewhere and I'll be happy. See, I know that's what you want. I got it. Okay, so these questions I cannot ignore. Rapid fry, let's go. The tea between Tom and Raquel. What can you say about Raquel and Schwartz? Did they hook up? What happened? Did Tom really make out with someone? Did Tom and Raquel really make
Starting point is 00:46:33 out? Did Tom and Raquel hook up? Did Schwartz and Raquel make out? There's like a hundred of them. My tongue's tired thinking about that. I know. I guess that's a question for Tom and Raquel. Sounds like we need Tom and Raquel on the podcast. That's a, stay tuned. Everyone thinks you have the tea for some reason. I mean, do I? I mean, I don't know. I mean, listen.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Maybe I do. I mean. I was more, I was worried. I was enjoying our time and there was so many other things going on when that was happening. We can't comment on that. I'll say this. I'll say this. I did not see anything happen
Starting point is 00:47:06 with my own eyes and that's all i was gonna say if there was any drama the entire week it was not affecting you guys like things might have been going on behind the scenes but 100 because again we're not just there with you know that with with that with that part of our friend group we had all our family all our friends over a hundred a hundred other people there. So it was great. It was great. And I didn't even notice it. I didn't even notice it until I knew about it. And when I knew about it, I noticed it.
Starting point is 00:47:31 No, I mean, I definitely saw them hanging out. I saw them sitting down and talking, but I did not see, but- I heard a lot of people made out at the wedding. I heard that too. It was a vibe. It was a vibe. Lots of different parties coming together. It was a vibe. It was a vibe. Lots of different parties coming together.
Starting point is 00:47:46 It was a vibe. It was all love there. I think it was just a week full of love and feelings. Totally. Even after you guys walked out, I was like, I've never had baby fever, but Justice, like I have wedding fever. Oh. I like that.
Starting point is 00:47:59 I think a lot of people felt that way. Yeah. That's awesome. I love that. And that was when we were there, the biggest one of having everyone there was, this is a vibe. We want everyone to be on a vibe.
Starting point is 00:48:10 We just wanted good energy. We realized what that vibe was. It was pure love. It was just, it was, and that whole weekend from the white party to the wedding and in between was that. And, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Stay tuned. My last question was, anything you wish you would have done differently or something that you didn't do the day of the wedding? Just anything that you would change. I don't know. I wish I jumped in on the fire dancing. I've done it when I was little before on the staff.
Starting point is 00:48:36 Like I wish I went up there. That sounds like a liability. And just like let it rip and then just do a little, just because I used to do it when I was younger. And so I was like, yeah, I'm going to do it. And then on my way walking around, I got stopped by my friends with alcohol and tequila shots. And I forgot about doing that. I thought you were about to just say jump in the pool.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Cause I've seen a lot of couples do that. I mean, yeah, I was not going to do that. My wife's not going to jump in the pool. So I'm not jumping in the pool. Your dress wouldn't dry by the time we needed to leave. And that's like a 50 pound wet dress at that point. What would you, if you could change one thing about the wedding or the weekend? I don't know that there's anything
Starting point is 00:49:06 I would change. It was just the certain people who weren't there. Okay. I wish would have been there. And just for the record, let me just say, everyone in our friend group,
Starting point is 00:49:17 past and present, show, no show, like everyone was invited. Not everyone came. Not everyone responded to the RSVP. Some people opened the invitation and never said anything, but everyone was invited. And the show must go on. I was going to say too, this wasn't like a lost in the mail situation. Like we did this all virtually. So it was a text. The invite was a text. And I get how sometimes getting a number or getting a text
Starting point is 00:49:42 from like an 866 number, some random number can maybe be looked over. Yeah. But yeah, everyone was texted the invite. And since I was handling that, I got notifications if it didn't deliver. Yeah. Thank you very much. You did great.
Starting point is 00:49:55 You did great on keeping everybody on. But between you and a wedding planner, between you and Shelby, crushed it. Yeah. Crushed it. Thank you. It's funny because there were so many people I met at the wedding, but they're like, hi. And I was like, just going down the list. I know everyone's first and last names, who they're rooming with, like their room type,
Starting point is 00:50:11 when they're coming, when they're leaving. That's funny. Yeah. I had all these people memorized by now. It was epic. Like a huge, massive thank you to Dreams Natura, to Shelby and Charlie with Simply Classic Events and Travels. It's Morgan Taylor for the photos.
Starting point is 00:50:28 Paula Tu for making my dress. Pia Gladys Perry for doing the bridesmaid dresses. Fashion Nova Men. I mean, there was just so many, so many people to thank. My beautiful ring come true. Oh, yeah. A few people asked if you're going to be posting pictures of your new ring. I did post a story, but I'll post
Starting point is 00:50:46 a closer up photo of it. I just need to get my nails redone because the glue around these pearls has now turned black and I need to wait for fresh nails to post a good photo. Yeah. Guys, check me out. It was a great week. Thank you to everybody, even our friends
Starting point is 00:51:02 that made the time to come out there. And if you couldn't come, you were still felt. Like, that was another one. Like, if you weren't there, I knew you were there. Yeah our friends that made the time to come out there. And if you couldn't come, you were still felt like that was another one. Like if you weren't there, I knew you were there. Yeah. And that was that was the best. Like everyone understood the message for the weekend. And that was just love. Well, and I'm happy you guys got to share it on social media.
Starting point is 00:51:15 And it wasn't like, yeah, no one can post. Yeah. You know, welcome to 2022. No, I know. But back in 2014, it was like no one's allowed to post, you know, you can't ruin anything. And this time, that's why we did the first look. I was like, no, I'm posting the first photo. That was smart. I know you didn't get the first photo. It's okay. Fine. Too slow. I was working on it. We were literally about to go down the aisle and I was the only one who still had my phone. Cause I was like, Charlie, can I put it in your pocket?
Starting point is 00:51:42 Um, your best man.
