Hey, true crime besties. Welcome back to an all new episode of Serialously with me, Annie Elise. You know it, say it with me, headline highlights edition. We are breaking down all of the new cases that are happening this week in the true crime world. We also are revisiting a couple cases that have some very important updates in them, such as the Madeline Soto case, Preston Lord case, there's one with the guy Timothy Hazlett who had trapped a woman in his basement, she escaped, it's a wild wild case because it seems like he was like a serial abductor, and then we have some

new cases of course. So we're gonna go through all of it, all of it together. Aside from that, what else is going on? Let me think, let me think. Is there any other announcement I need to make? I don't think so. I'm flying to Florida tomorrow for 36 hours to film a very special project, a case that is near and dear to my heart.

So I'm excited to be able to share that with you guys soon once that fully comes to fruition. And then other than that, we had our deep dive episode that released just this last Monday. It was on the Springfield three case. Three, it's actually a really wild case if you're not familiar with it.

Three women basically vanished from their home. They were all under the same roof. And it's kind of shady. There's like some really weird suspicious things along the way but basically friends went up to this house. They noticed that the light bulb was shattered, that the, I remember, I can't remember, was the door open. Something was weird at the entry point and these women just vanished and all three of them together. It's really wild so if you haven't listened to that yet, I highly encourage you to do so because it is definitely an interesting case. And I've seen a

lot of you guys in the comments giving your theories and your perspectives. And I always love that because I love when we get the dialogue going, which kind of actually dovetails perfectly. You would see that I would publish it, but now I'm super excited because I actually can comment back and we can engage in that way. So definitely check that out. But anyways, let's jump right into the first case we're going to be talking about today, and that's Preston Lord. Now we recently covered the ongoing investigation and case involving Preston Lord. But just to give a quick recap, Preston was a 16-year-old boy in Arizona who died at a house party last October. Preston was violently attacked by this group of teenagers who dubbed themselves the Gilbert Goons, which sounds kind of just like what I'm saying. It's like these little twerpy teenage kids who think they're tough. But anyways, after he died, more and more stories

about the Gilbert Goons started being released. And the group ended up being linked to many violent attacks against different teenagers in the area. Now, as the different stories started circling around, people noticed that many people involved in this, you know, better, no better term other than gang, the Gilbert Goons was a gang, but they noticed that these little teenage boys

who were involved in this group all came from affluent families, wealthy families. So naturally, people began to speculate that the influence that these families held was somehow preventing this Gilbert Goon group and the members from facing any real repercussions, not only for what happened to Preston Lord, but for all of these other violent attacks that they not only were involved in, but that were filmed, were put on Snapchat, all these different things. But then finally in March, seven people ended up being arrested in connection with Preston's death. However, what really went down on the night of October 28th is still unknown to the public, and it's speculated that more

people were involved in Preston's death as well. Now this past week, the public learned that Preston's parents have filed a wrongful death suit against the seven boys who were arrested. They also filed it against the owner of the home where Preston died. The documents filed give more information about that party and how it was advertised on social media, how it was gonna be this like mega huge rager.

And apparently Preston decided to go to this party after seeing the invite on Snapchat. And the invite advertised, quote, a Halloween costume rager. Open invite. Alcohol provided. First come, first served. So the document then goes on to say that almost 200 people were at this party. Then when the fight happened, Preston was left unconscious, and the boys who beat him up ran away from the scene, fled like little twerpy bitches. Thinking they're tough, but obviously then they're not even sticking around. I mean, I'll link the full deep dive on this case, but it really is sick.

It's just this like group of privileged, I keep saying it, little twerps who come from these rich families. They're bored in life. They want to act tough, so they like make their own little street gang. It's horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible. So then when these boys fled the scene after they beat up Preston, Roberto Carrera, who's the owner of the house, asked everybody at the party to leave shortly after right after this fight. The new lawsuit accuses the boys of negligence and also inflicting physical harm and or aiding and abetting others to inflict physical harm upon Preston while under a state of extreme intoxication,

and without the capacity to act in an intentional manner, and or by using excessive physical force upon Preston in a mistaken belief that each was protecting or defending third parties. Now the document also mentions the parents of Talon Renner. Talon was the one whose parents allegedly knew what he did and tried to send him out of the freaking country to cover up his involvement in the crime. It's also speculated that Talon's parents knew of his involvement with that little Gilbert Goon gang group and that they just were not doing anything to prevent him from hurting others, from attacking others, basically saying, uh, bro, you're grounded. You're not allowed to just, like, join this street gang and go beat up kids. The document's alleging not only did they know about it, but they just

not encouraged it, but just let him do it. Just go out, have fun with your friends, no harm, no foul. The lawsuit says that Talon's parents knew that their son was inclined to engage in violence and also inflict physical harm upon others. Apparently, they knew of three different instances where Talon behaved violently towards others, and they didn't do anything to stop it. The first one happened back in 2017-2018 when Talon was in just the fifth grade. When I'm telling you that these are young teenage boys, guys, I mean it. They are young kids. So this first incident was when he was in fifth grade

back in 2017, 2018, and get this, he threatened to shoot up the school. The second incident was a couple of years later when Talon was involved in a fight and was bullying a student from his middle school. And then the third incident happened sometime between March, 2022 and March, 2023. And during that incident, Talon assaulted another resident while at Diamond Ranch Academy

Treatment Center. Now, the lawsuit claims that Talon's parents knew about his violent tendencies and that they were negligent in supervising their son and preventing him from harming others. And then finally, the lawsuit alleges that the owners of the home, Roberto and Emily, both who are adults, were also negligent in providing alcohol to minors and ensuring the safety of the teenagers who attended the party at their home. So it's going to be very interesting

to see how this all plays out, right? Because everybody was hoping that people would be held accountable for Preston's murder. And finally then, like I said, seven people were arrested in March. And now there's this civil lawsuit, there is more information coming to light.

The parents are starting to get involved and be held accountable. So I just hope that the right people are held accountable and that Preston and his family do get the justice that they deserve. And I hope that this is a learning lesson for all young kids because I definitely think that over the last, what, five to seven years maybe,

this is just my opinion, but I feel like over the last, what, five to seven years maybe, and this is just my opinion, but I feel like over the last five to seven years we've seen this huge uptick in teenagers and young kids with violence, whether it's bullying, murdering, attacking, whatever it may be, and it all usually is linked to social media because it's like they want to brag, they want to have these bragging rights over social media, show off what they've done. They want the notoriety. They want to become famous somehow. And I just hope that as more cases come to light and people are held accountable, a perfect example is Aidan Fucci who went to Snapchat after he murdered Tristan Bailey and he's now in prison.

And so I'm just hopeful that as more people are held accountable and young people are held accountable in situations like this, that it's a learning lesson for other young people out there that you shouldn't be doing this, that you're going to get caught, you're going to go to jail, possibly prison for life. Like for what? Because you wanna show off and act tough on Snapchat?

On TikTok? Like it's not worth it and I get it. And they're not fully formed in their brain yet at this point, so they're not realizing the gravity of their situation sometimes and their actions, but I'm just hopeful that it starts to become a learning lesson. Now moving into the next case, this is one that is absolutely devastating and has quite a few different people enraged over on TikTok that I've seen because of the support that the mom is still giving for the father

and we'll talk through it. But we're gonna talk about the case of the Arizona dad who left his child in a hot car because he has now been charged with murder. On July 9th, Christopher Schultes was driving home while his two-year-old daughter Parker was asleep in the back seat. Later that day, Christopher's wife Erica came home from work

and she found Parker dead inside Christopher's car. She called 911 and performed CPR on Parker until the paramedics arrived. Parker was brought to a hospital where Erica actually works as an anesthesiologist. However, they were unable to save her and she died as a result of this. So police arrived at the home in Arizona. Christopher said he didn't remove Parker from the car seat because he didn't want to wake her up. He also said that he left the car running with the AC on and that she was only left alone for about 30 minutes. However, when the police reviewed security footage

from their home, they discovered that Christopher arrived home around 1230 PM and he left Parker in that backseat for over three hours, all until his wife came home and found her at 4 p.m. Now while Christopher said that he left the car on, he later admitted knowing that he knew that the car would automatically turn off after 30 minutes, meaning that Parker was left locked inside this car for hours while it was upwards of 100 degrees outside that day. And if that was the temperature outside, God only knows how hot it was inside that car. And as if that isn't bad enough, apparently this was something that Christopher was known to do.

He would do this regularly. And the way that that is known is because after Parker was found, Erica sent a text message to Christopher which read, I told you to stop leaving them in the car. How many times have I told you? Christopher replied to the text saying, babe, I'm sorry, babe, our family, how could I do this? I killed our baby. This can't be real. Which I gotta say, and I'm not trying to shame the mom here, I can't imagine what it is like to lose a child at all, but especially this way. But after you've noticed that this has happened once, maybe it's time to stop sending the

reminders and it's time to just revoke them from being responsible for the child. No more school pickups, no more this and that. And that's really shitty that you wouldn't be able to trust your partner to be a partner and help out with those tasks But why leave it to chance, right? Like and this isn't to blame her in any of this But if she's sending him a message saying I told you to stop leaving them in the car, how many times have I told you? That's my question. How many times has this guy had to be told you don't leave a child in a hot car?

Like what are you even talking about? you don't leave a child in a hot car. Like, what are you even talking about? So police also interviewed Parker's two older siblings who said that their dad left them in the car a lot. He would get distracted, just totally forgetting that the kids were even in the car. So it didn't take long for police to realize that this is what happened that day.

Christopher left Parker in the car, put the groceries away, then went and played video games for hours, somehow just totally forgetting that he had a child to take care of, which come on. So that night, he was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with second-degree murder and child abuse, but pled not guilty. His wife Erica spoke during his arraignment asking for her husband to be released from jail until his hearing and this is what has people So riled up over on social media because people can't understand why she is Begging for mercy for her husband when not only did he kill their child accident or not

It's like the track record was there but also like you've had to intervene so many times. A lot of people are thinking she's at fault for not protecting her kids, whatever your opinion is, everybody's entitled to their own. But I want you to take a listen to this video and what she says. I'm just asking if you can allow him to come home to us so we can all start the grieving process so that he can bury our daughter with us this upcoming week and that we can go through this whole process together as a family. This was a big mistake, and I think that this doesn't represent him.

And I just want the girls to see their father so that I don't have to tell them tonight that they're gonna endure another loss. So Christopher was released, but the judge ruled that he could not be alone with his children, which, thank God, but quite honestly, that should have been a decision made in their personal lives well ahead of this before something

like this ever happened. And his next hearing is set for August 1. So we will see where this case goes. Moving into another case, this is about a TikToker who was arrested after he shot his girlfriend. A very popular TikToker, Liderius Morshun Brownlee, was arrested after shooting his girlfriend, Zara, in the face. The shooting happened in Flower Mound, Texas around 1 a.m. on July 5th,

so right after all the 4th of July celebrations. Witnesses who were with Zara and Liderius said that they were all leaving a July 4th celebration together. Then, before getting in the car to leave, Zara and Ladarius got into a very heated argument, which then turned physical. They got into the car, they started driving, and they drove three miles before Ladarius stopped the car, pointed the gun at the witnesses in the back seat, and then shot Zara. She was shot right above her right eye and thankfully she is still alive, but her injuries are life-threatening. Now Zara and Ladarius had a couple's TikTok account, meaning they shared it where they posted videos of the two of them together. They posted

videos about their relationship, they had about 155,000 followers, and their videos have millions of views between all of them. Now I scrolled quite a bit of their TikTok and looking at their videos have millions of views between all of them. Now I scrolled quite a bit of their TikTok and looking at their videos, and many of the videos are a bit concerning to me because in a lot of these videos, Liderius is putting Zara down, saying she doesn't look good, he's throwing things at her, things like that.

Their TikTok bio says, quote, it's a joke, insinuating that people shouldn't take their video seriously, but people close to the couple have said that their relationship was tumultuous and it was often violent. So after Ladarius was arrested, his bond was set at $900,000, and as of now, he is still in jail. So moving into a true, true scumbag. Not that the people we've talked about so far aren't scumbags, but we are going to now talk about a mega disgusting creep scumbag. And his name is Timothy Halslett Jr. So two years ago, I covered the case of Timothy over on my YouTube channel, Tend to Life. I will link this episode in the show notes, but to give a quick recap.

In October of 2022, Timothy was arrested after a woman escaped his home in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, which is just outside of Kansas City. She ran to a neighbor's house claiming that Timothy had kidnapped her and held her hostage for the past month. The woman was dressed in latex lingerie, had a locked metal collar and duct tape around her neck, and she also had ligature marks around her wrists. She told the neighbor that she had been held captive in Timothy's garage since September

and that her friends did not make it. It wasn't clear how many friends she was talking about or if others were also held captive. The woman said that Timothy initially approached her while she was out on a walk and offered her $350 to go to his house. She got in his car and during her car ride, Timothy pulled a gun on her, then took her phone and drugged her she was kept in what they are describing as a dungeon in his

basement she was restrained choked whipped and sexually assaulted Daily he rarely fed her and during his assaults Timothy would wear women's lingerie and call her his sex slave so police arrested Timothy soon after this woman escaped and they began a search of his home. And inside of it, they found giant blue barrels in his basement, along with ropes, chains, whips, other restraints, and also handguns.

Timothy was charged with first degree kidnapping, first degree rape, and second degree assault. However, he pled not guilty and was awaiting trial. So now new information has been released. And Timothy is now facing charges for the murder of a different woman, a woman named Janie Crosdale. So a couple of months after Timothy was initially arrested, the Excelsior Springs Police Department announced

that they were looking for Janie, and they believed that she was a potential witness for the kidnapping investigation. They were unable to find Janie, and they were looking for Janie, and they believed that she was a potential witness for the kidnapping investigation. They were unable to find Janie, and they were looking for her for months. However, unfortunately, her remains were found in a blue barrel in a river last July, and the barrel matched the other ones that were found in Timothy's home, and police believed that she died sometime between June and October of 2022. Now what's interesting about this barrel situation, he had multiple

barrels that were found at his house, right? And I don't know if any of you listened to my episode on the Drew Peterson case, not to be confused with Scott Peterson. Maybe I will link that as well, but it's suspected that he put his, what was she, Stacy was his fourth wife, in a barrel as well and disposed of her body that way way and she has yet to be found to this day. And there have been a lot of cases we've talked about where people use these barrels as a means to hide remains, dispose of remains, fill them with cement after the remains are put in them, things like that. Even, I think it was even suspected in the Fotis Dulos case that he used a barrel, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive.

So the fact that he had so many barrels found in his dungeon basement is really concerning because to me at least, and I'm not a professional, I'm not a profiler, I don't work for the FBI, but based on other cases I've covered, to me that indicates that he never had any intention of freeing any of these women. Not that I would think people who do hold women captive

ever think they will release them, but to me it just shows the means to an end that once he was done raping them, torturing them, abusing them, that his plans were always gonna just be to dispose of them, to kill them. That's why he had multiple barrels at his disposal. And then poor Janey was found in one of these barrels. Now according to the woman who escaped his home, Timothy told her that he killed two other women.

He told her that one had been killed with a gas mask while the other quote, died by electrocution during a sexual assault, which how horrible is that? That he's not only getting off on the rape and the torture, but that during these sexual assaults he's electrocuting them, that he's getting off on that, on that form of sexual assault. It is sick, sick, and twisted. He also threatened to suffocate and kill her, quote, like the rest of them, if she didn't comply. Janie Crosdale and the woman who escaped Timothy's home were both black, and it's believed that

Timothy's crime may be racially motivated due to some racist comments that were made on his Facebook profile. This hasn't been confirmed, however, this is what has been talked about as a possible motive. Timothy is pled not guilty to Janie's murder, and he's currently being held on a $5 million bond, which, good riddance, lock him away, throw away the key. Now we have a couple more cases we're gonna talk about. We are gonna talk about leaked emails in the Madeline Soto case, a possible new suspect, plus a baby who was found on the highway. So on Monday, July 8th, the body of a four-year-old was found in a lake near a welcome center by the Louisiana-Texas border. After identifying who this boy was, this four-year-old little boy, police had learned that he had been seen two days prior with his mother, Al two days prior Jack and also his one year police started searching

the baby immediately. The was located in Mississippi away from where her four dead. The baby though was she was arrested for fail child. Then later that da a call that a trucker found a baby crawling along a highway. That baby was later identified

as Aliyah's other missing child. The baby had been found in a ditch, was covered in bug bites, and the police believe that he had been outside alone for two days. A one-year-old child. Now during the time that the baby was alone, get this, a hurricane struck East Texas,

which caused very heavy rain and strong winds in the area. So he spent two days in that weather alone. So he's now being dubbed as the miracle baby because he was able to survive those conditions, survive being alone, survive on his own. Aside from the bug bites, he was luckily not injured and he is in stable condition. His mom, Aaliyah, on the other hand, she was charged with murder, cruelty to a juvenile,

and failure to report a missing child. Her bond was set at $9.1 million. She has yet to enter a plea or retain an attorney, but like I said with the last one, lock him up, throw away the key. Now let's talk about Madeline Soto and the updates in this case because it is absolutely heartbreaking, horrifying. So many people have been wondering if her mom was more involved than she let on, if she's going to be charged in all of this, because it is one of the more heartbreaking and like disgusting sexual assaults and cases that we have talked about in quite some time. And now more details have been released about just the Madeline Soto case in general.

And it is bringing up additional questions about her mom, Jennifer Soto's involvement in her daughter's death. Now to give a quick recap, if you aren't familiar with this case, but I will link the deep dive episode in the show notes, Jennifer's boyfriend, Stefan Stearns, is charged with murdering 13-year-old Madeline Soto.

This was after she was reported as missing back on February 26th. Her body was then found a few days later on March 1st. As this was all happening before he was even charged with her murder, Stefan was charged with 60 counts of child sexual abuse. This was after the investigators found images showing Madeline being sexually abused by Stephen for over two years, dating back to when she was just 11 years old. And guys, again, if you're

not familiar, you definitely need to get caught up, but this case was shady from the jump. He put her dead body in his car, was driving with it to dispose of her, and it was caught on camera. Then he was lying to the police. He did a factory reset on his phone, but obviously they were able to recover all of these things, and that's why he was then charged with the child sexual abuse, 60 counts to be exact. The mom gave a really odd interview that had a lot of people questioning if she knew more, if she was involved in the cover-up, if she also knew about the years long of sexual assault, and it has been a very interesting one to follow, certainly, because the mom still has not been charged with anything. But last week, new documents were released, and these detailed emails that were sent to his family

while he's been in jail. The emails are mostly between Stefan, his brother, and his mom, and the emails are pretty odd to say the least, because some of the emails are normal, I would say, and if you could see me I'm using air quotes, but like, they're normal for somebody who has been charged with murder and sexual assault. He talks about how loud the jail is, how dirty his cell is, how thin his mattress is, how his coffee supply is running low, and then he also asks them to send him a book. Specifically, an origami book from Amazon.

Just totally casual, totally normal, like nothing is wrong, like he isn't being charged with the murder of a 13-year-old girl. In one email, his mom even responds with, I hope you get your coffee and candy straightened out quickly. Love, hugs, and prayers now and every day and night. Mom. However, in that same email, Stefan's mom writes something that is a little more concerning in the grand scheme of things. She says, we know that blank was heavily involved in this and I am disgusted that she is free and you are not when this is not all your fault. You need to think about yourself more and her less. She sure isn't

thinking about you and how she can help you right now. That whole family is willing to stay quiet and let you take the fall for everything. I think the craziness that Blank lived through with Blank's various partners, not a stable life at all for a child. I do pray for Blank and you daily." Now, the name of the person that they are talking about has been redacted in the official emails that were released by the state attorney's office, but based on the rest of the message, people are of course thinking that she was talking about Madeline's mother, Jen. Now, as I said, many have wondered if Jen was more involved in not only Madeline's disappearance and murder, but also complicit in the sexual assault. And these emails are making people question that even more, not only questioning if she was involved,

but even if another person was involved in her death. And certainly, if this was a reoccurring pattern. Like, sure, he had been abusing Madeline for years at this point, but his mom references previous partners and the craziness that Madeline lived through with these various partners. So is that an allegation? I'm only, this is my assumption, just my opinion, but is that an allegation that even prior to the relationship with Stefan Stearns that Madeline's mom would allow other men to abuse her? Is that what the implication is here?

I don't understand like what she implying. That's what it sounds like to me. Now just a few days ago even more information was released that supports the theory of another person being involved in Madeline's death. New evidence shows that two cars drove to the place where Madeline's body was found and both cars originated from the apartment complex where she lived. Officers used traffic cameras and license plate readers to track Stefan's car, which is a silver Lincoln. They were tracking it on the morning that Madeline was reported as missing. He's seen leaving the apartment complex around 7.50 a.m. A young female, believed to be Madeline, is sitting slumped over in the passenger seat. They believe she was already dead at this point.

Then around 940 AM, the car is seen in a Holiday Inn parking garage. A male, believed to be Stefan, exits the car and then carries what looks to be like a limp body from the passenger seat and places it into the trunk. The car returns to the apartment complex at 1014 AM and then leaves at 1103 AM, then returns again at 1156 a.m.

The car leaves for a third time around 1244 p.m. and it's photographed about 30 minutes later going south on Old Hickory Tree Road, which, just to let you know, if you haven't been following this case closely, Madeleine's body was found in a wooded area directly off this road. The silver car then returns back to the apartment complex

at 2.43 p.m. Now it's been released that a second car, a white Nissan, followed the exact same route. They followed it the very next day on February 27th. This car was captured on cameras leaving the apartment complex at 3.16 a.m. the middle of the night, and then it was photographed again back on Old Hickory Tree Road at 3.35 a.m. the middle of the night, and then it was photographed again back on Old Hickory Tree Road at 335 a.m.

The car returned to the apartment complex at 430 a.m. The name of whoever owns this white Nissan was redacted in the document, which was released by the police. It was also not stated who was seen driving the car, but again, it brings up the question, was somebody else involved in Madeline's disappearance? Was this her mom's car?

Was the mom driving? Was this Stefan borrowing the mom's car and leaving in the middle of the night to go cover his tracks a little bit more? There were two cars, two different cars that took that exact same route. It has not been confirmed that it was two different drivers, although, just my opinion, I think if it was the same driver, if it was Stefan in both cars, if he was borrowing Jen's car for the second trip,

why would the name be redacted? That's just my opinion. Maybe so, but why when he's already been charged? I don't know. Tell me what you think. In any event, it feels as though we are inching closer and closer to justice for Madeline and answers and whoever was involved in this horrific crime

held responsible. A lot of people think that it's only a matter of time before her mom Jen is charged in some capacity, so it's gonna be interesting to see if that is in fact the case.
