Okay, guys, we're back.
It's about that time.
It all happened.
Vanderpump Rules Recaps.
We're on season one.
Just kidding. We're on season 11,
episode one. Babe, you got to get more excited than that. We are back. We are back. Back to
watching Vanderpump Rules. Back to bringing you the first recap in all the podcasts about this,
these episodes as they air. So I hope you're excited. We're excited. This first episode
is interesting to say the least. I mean,
if you've been listening, you understand the beef between Kristen and Lala that's kind of going on
that I feel secondhand involved in. We'll touch on that later. But VPR season 11, episode one,
Notes on a Scandal. Here we go. Notes on a Scandal, appropriately titled. So I want to start
by saying, I think what most of us are
feeling at least what luke and i were feeling the scandal of it all is fucking exhausting we're
exhausted of it i think i'm very tired of talking about it i'm tired of hearing about it and
listening to clips from nick viles podcast the vile files with Schwartz and Sandoval and Sandoval being late and just not,
it was, I've seen the clips on Instagram and it just like doubled down for me how exhausting he
is as a human. However, let me bring us back to earth. We have to all remember as viewers
that Sandoval was only two, three months before they started filming season 11.
Yeah, exactly.
So this was pretty fresh.
I mean, it all really happened while it was airing last season.
There were episodes coming out, and then this really happened.
Ariana discovered the affair, and so they had to pick cameras back up.
You know the whole shindig.
Vanderpump pulled a full on Kardashians.
They're like, we can't wait for, we can't wait
for time to pass to start filming and airing. That's what the Kardashians do because everyone's
in their face 24 seven. They have to film pretty fucking often, you know? Okay. I'm not aware of
that, but sure. Well, they do because all of their stuff's just out there. So if they don't
constantly film, they're going to be super far behind on their episodes. So that's essentially
what Vanderpump rules and Bravo had to do with VPR.
So here we are.
We're talking about Scandival once again,
even though it feels like it's been a trillion years.
So they start per usual.
They introduce everybody again,
like to remind you if you haven't seen Vanderpump Rules,
or I guess just to remind you where everyone is on the cast in this moment.
And guess what?
Ariana Maddox, not only are you roxy heart
congratulations my love you can make your own lattes of course she can make her own fucking
lattes but i did like the little it was like a little poke the bear moment she's like look i'm
making my own lattes maya with her cute little cinnamon pen it's so funny and then seeing summer
moon spelling her name is amazing.
She's a great child.
She's just precious.
Yeah.
I really liked that little intro of like the Sheena Brock summer dynamic to give that little
quick thing of like summer standing at the counter where as their friends and as we see
on social media as well, that Brock's always cooking with her and Sheena's always cooking
with her.
And just to kind of, to me, that one moment of her spelling kind of showed their family dynamic
and I thought it was really sweet I agree there's a lot more to it I just yeah yeah commend both of
them great parents summer's doing great it's awesome anyway moving on so all the little
introductions right so Ariana and Katie let's talk about Tom and his plants though you want to jump
to that I'm going to talk about Tom and his plants because that was part of his intro okay he's like you're
my only friends he has so many plants i didn't know i've not been to schwartz's apartment i've
seen schwartz quite a few times but not been to his apartment and i love plants and then we have
katie and ariana uh katie comes over ariana's house and she katie's like every time i come
over here it looks like a flower shop and i and she, Katie's like, every time I come over here,
it looks like a flower shop. And I was thinking the exact same thing. Cause every time I had
gone over Ariana's from Scandival since, I mean, she, even prior to that, like when Charlotte
passed away and when her grandma passed away, and then obviously all the Scandival stuff,
everyone's sending her flowers. And then her birthday comes in June and everyone's sending
her flowers. It's like, girl, une and everyone's sending her flowers it's like
girl you are a flower shop it was cute they do something about her update super excited for that
i love that in the intro for vanderpump rules they take us on the drone ride again and they show us
katie and ariana in something about her i thought it was a little weird that they didn't show tom
and tom and schwartz and sandys though. They showed them at Tom Tom. Well,
that makes,
that makes more sense because,
because of Lisa?
No,
because this,
well,
someone,
I guess I didn't think about that initially.
Because of Robertson Rowe?
No,
because initially now the way this season is starting,
Schwartz and Sandoval kind of have a beef going on.
Like Schwartz got thrown under the bus sort of with this.
He's taken all the flack because he's Sandoval's friend.
Guilty by association.
So there's kind of like this animosity between the two Toms.
But I guess what I'm saying is this is called the intro,
like the main intro for Vanderpump Rules for the entirety of season 11
starts with a drone going over LA and it goes into something about her,
Katie and Ariana shop that they own together.
Correct?
Then it moves and goes to tom tom where tom and tom own a very tiny little percentage but it's lisa's restaurant and
then it goes to sir it's like tom and tom own shorts and sandys guess they didn't find it as
important i don't know i guess i'm just calling it what it was i don't really have an opinion
about it i'm just calling a spade a spade. You know, we'll get to it,
but Schwartz does say to James in conversation
that one of the biggest fights he and Sandoval ever got in
was about the name of the bar.
So were they thinking when they shot this,
like maybe it won't last?
I don't know.
I don't know, but there's clearly an issue
between the Toms to start this season.
Clearly.
So next we go see Tom and Ariana's house.
We get to see where Sandoval is sleeping.
Ew.
Looks like a shitty college dorm in a beautiful house.
And then we get to see Ariana's room, which to me just screamed,
I travel a lot and have to stay in Airbnbs.
So here's all my awesome wardrobe hung up on my dresser because i kind of
have to leave a lot because my ex-boyfriend's here that's what i saw oh something i wanted
to bring up because they they do discuss like tom's assistant and right they've got and she
had to fix the penis flute after he broke it tom asked her to like glue it back together and then
ariana sends a text
saying their next door neighbor, who has been, this has been talked about on other podcasts too,
because I know who he is, that he was saying like, it's too late. He has a kid next door,
the LED lights at night, the parties at night. And he has his assistant, and Tom Sandoval has
his assistant and text Ariana back and say say the led lights are freedom of speech
i i heard that said oh my god i didn't i guess understand all the context of it yeah but no
that's interesting oh tom's there still is something considered like a public nuisance
right you can't have yes tom sandoval is a public nuisance. I was going to say the lights, but. Well, anyway, I thought I was interesting because I found out when I did listen to a
clip from Nick Viles podcast with Tom Schwartz that Anne actually resigned this week or this
past week.
Oh shit.
I did not hear that.
Yeah.
So good for you, Anne.
She was sitting right next to us at Dancing with the Stars.
Really?
She gave me a friendship bracelet.
That's who that was?
Oh, okay. I didn't put it... Too sweet
to be working for him. I did not put it all together. Not at all.
I'm not a hater, guys. I'm just being honest, okay?
Interesting.
So, anyway, and then within this,
you know, Ariana is telling Katie
like Tom now wants to buy her out of the house
and Katie's like, well, if he has enough money, why can't
he just get his own house? And I
agree on so many levels.
I think it's just like a Tom, like, power trip thing.
And I'm just going to leave it with what we know in the news cycle is that in the news cycle, Ariana is now suing him.
So this is quite a while later.
So I guess we'll find out what happens with that.
But the penis flute thing.
Priorities, dude.
The penis flute. Priorities. It's like But the penis flute thing, priorities, priorities.
It's like literally like a metaphor for Tom's priorities in life.
Is it though?
I mean,
if you have an assistant,
if I have a personal assistant and something of mine that I thought was a
piece of art was broken,
it was a penis flute that he bought in Mexico when we were on a cast trip at
some tiny little,
I'm just saying of all the things Tom needs to fix in his life,
he's worried about the gluing together the goddamn penis flute.
Look, Kristen, I get where you're coming from. What I'm saying is that was probably not that
huge of a concern, but it was like when he's putting together like, Hey, I need,
I need help with these things. And it's sitting there broken. He's like,
it's a $5 bottle of glue to fix that. And probably 15. So like, will you just do that today?
So I'm okay. And I appreciate where you're coming from. And here's my opinion. I'm going to beg to
differ. My opinion is that the list probably said, I haven't opened my mail in three years.
I can't wake up before 3 PM, but you need to get the gorilla glue and get that penis flute back on my mantle. I can't wake up without it.
So I think,
I think that penis flute is becoming iconic.
It's becoming far more iconic now that it got snapped in half and then glued
back together.
I mean,
would you get a new one or would you fix it?
I'm a fixer.
I don't just get new shit and throw stuff out personally.
But Tom does.
Okay. Maybe he does. Okay, maybe he does.
Hey, there's the analogy like that.
Fair.
Addie.

from women about their sexual health

This was a really funny part. It wasn't funny, but it was funny to me um and i like that we saw a tiny
clip of watch what happens live afterward uh michael rapaport discussing like sheena's couch
should sheena get a new couch right because she sits on the couch with brock and she's like
oh god the flashbacks insert amazing editorial flashbacks black and white white from the Vanderpump Rules editors. Fantastic.
You know, but I was going, okay, Sheena, you are such a good cast member.
No, not just that though.
But think about, it's probably the first time that cameras had been on her on that couch again.
So it's like that context would make it be like, okay, shit, I'm back into this versus
no cameras, just her, Brock, and Summer on the couch.
You know, anyway.
Yeah.
And I was unsure a little bit about them bringing up our friend Ali and his passing.
But rest in absolute paradise, Ali, Rafiq.
We love you.
We love your whole family.
But I get the, like, why did we all have to talk to Tom again vibe. It just felt a little weird to me,
but I do like put Sheena on a pedestal for the kind words
and like really speaking so highly of Ollie.
I just felt it was like a little weird of Vanderpump to be talking about that.
But I guess it was necessary because Sheena was kind of like having to explain
why did she ever reach out to Tom?
Why did she talk to him at all to begin with? That at all? Because I too reached out to him during that time. And I know Sheena and I both
had reached out just in case you guys are wondering, had reached out to Ariana during
that time and saying like, we feel like we should check on him. And Ariana was like, absolutely.
Yeah. And I remember that time specifically you talking about a lot, like this is a guy that
grew up best friends with Tom Sandel. So this is a guy that grew up best friends with tom sandal so this is a
christened dated tom a decade ago and it's known ali from but before then so it all hits home
we've been in it and yeah i agree with what you say like they had to kind of tie it into why
anybody communicated with sandoval at that time, like that quickly after everything broke.
Yeah.
So I'm saying I get it.
It did feel, it just felt a little weird in my tummy.
But what else?
So now we're going back into sort of just remembering
and introducing the cast.
So we have Lala, we have her mom,
and Ocean is not there.
And Lala explains, well, Ocean's with Easton.
So Lala is now living.
Her mom has moved out of Utah.
Easton, her brother, has also moved to LA
because Lala's done stuff with Randall
for obvious fucking terrible reasons.
And they're there to help raise Ocean.
And she finds a way to explain to the audience, I think,
via her mom, why Ocean will not be on Banner Pump Rules.
So I think Lala handled that whole scene really well.
Um,
it was sad to watch her talk about like her emotions with Randall.
Cause I know that that's just something that's an ongoing battle for her and
her family and her mom.
So that made me really sad that it still has to be a thing.
They have to talk about on camera,
you know?
Right.
I don't know how many years it's been, but it's been too many.
And that's something I certainly have a, you know,
it's up there on my list of goals to not have to deal with is a custody battle
ever in my life.
Who does want that?
Obviously no one wants that.
Okay. So the next scene, I don't really have a whole lot to say, Luke,
if you do for me,
it was just really weird seeing Tom Schwartz with James Kennedy kennedy like at a random restaurant like having dinner together it doesn't make any
sense to me i think i mean the plant gift is pretty great i think getting someone to plant
as a housewarming guest sure is great uh the bar talk is weird uh tom saying this itty bitty platonic kiss with rachel now with all the context that's
come out it seems platonic at the time it would not have seemed platonic they made out
she had proposed it to him had rachel not done that podcast that we heard about that we spoke
about on our podcast exactly if we didn't know what we know now short saying that it was this
teeny tiny platonic kiss does seem a little
like out of the water.
Like what?
Totally.
It wouldn't seem platonic at all.
If we didn't know the context of him knowing about scan,
the scan of all happening and it kind of being an agreed to distraction from
what's happening.
So anyway,
also,
also,
and Schwartzy,
you know,
I have to say it a million times over.
I fucking love Schwartz.
I'm always going to love Schwartz.
I think some of his Schwartz, I'm talking to you, even though you don't listen.
I think some of Tom's just like actions and choices are so questionable because he does
have this like unfaltering loyalty for Sandoval that I still can't figure out for the life
of me.
But there was a part in this scene where Schwartz says
to James that the biggest, he thinks in quotes, the biggest fight they've ever been in has been
about the name of the bar. To me, as their friend for so many years, over a decade, that speaks
volumes to me because the amount of shit that Sandoval has gotten Schwartz into and having to
back him up and pressuring him to, Schwartz is a grown ass man, you guys. Tom Schwartz into and having to like back him up and like pressuring him to Schwartz is a grown
ass man. You guys, Tom Schwartz, you have it in you to make your own decision. So I'm not
taking that off of Schwartz. But if you're going to say the biggest fight you ever got into was
about the name of your bar and you still lost, what the fuck? That seems harsh. I love Schwartz.
I do too. And I'm not blaming Schwartz.
I'm just saying, stand the fuck up. It is your bar as well. And you're saying that you still don't stand by it and you still don't know if you want to change the name. You have just the
money. He wants to change the name. He didn't say it. He didn't say those exact words, but clearly
he does. That was communicated through it. He didn't say the words, but yeah. It just frustrated
me anyway. And honestly, the scene was too long for me because I just don't buy it.
Here's a principle.
That's fair.
I don't care if I'm being a hater.
It was a longer scene.
It was weird how long it lasted, to be honest, compared to all the other scenes.
But Schwartz, I love you.
I think that this is like maybe a principle he has ground into him, a financial principle,
that this is being the biggest fight to him that he's had with Sandoval
is because there was a lot of money on the line.
Like this is a business that they bubbly both took out a second mortgage
on their homes at the time to make this bar happen.
That is a massive undertaking.
That is a lot of stress.
And I could see that pushing Schwartz to the point where this is the biggest
fight he's ever had with him, with Sandoval.
Totally.
That makes sense to me. Knowing Schwartz and knowing point where this is the biggest fight he's ever had with him with Sandoval. Totally. That makes sense to me.
Knowing Schwartz and knowing Sandoval.
I appreciate your dude in business brain because I see it much more emotionally
in the,
in all of just the shit they've been through.
Like they've stayed friends,
but I just feel like Tom has gotten Tom Schwartz into a lot of chaos that
Schwartz would not have gotten himself into necessarily.
Chaos comes and goes as part of life. It's an ebb and flow. You're going to have chaos. And
if you don't guess what you're bored with your life, you need some chaos.
Says the boy who just started filming reality TV.
Yeah. There's also a limit to it, but you need a little chaos. It's just a matter of what your
tolerance is for that chaos. Okay. Well, let's move on. So Ariana and Sheena go to this
awesome spa that looks gorgeous and lovely. And I love this for them because it is always nice
when you're filming to be like, yeah, I would love to take Ariana here. I'd love to take my
friend here. And then production's like, okay, that's great. However, there's nothing like
having to talk through your entire massage. What is less relaxing than getting a massage?
I'm doing quote fingers,
uh,
doing,
getting a massage and having to talk about drama between friends the entire
time.
Yeah.
They kept a really relaxed look on their face though.
They did fantastic.
I feel like they were able after this many years to like carp,
I can't say the word,
say the word compartmentalize
thank you it's like one of those words it just doesn't come out of my mouth well but i think
they were able to do that after this many years of reality tv i i saw them both just going
what's what what are we talking about i'm gonna enjoy this for 30 seconds and then i'll wrap my
brain around what you want me to say again. Yeah. But they're cute.
They're super cute.
They're super cute couples, Sheena and Ariana.
Super cute.
Super cute.
And then we get our intro to Dan finally.
I didn't know if this was going to happen on episode one.
We get to meet Dan, Ariana's new boyfriend.
Not new, but new-ish.
And I just thought it was super cute.
Super cute again.
I'm blushing because I really like dan and i like to see ariana
smile do you like really feel the connection with ariana with the similarities to our relationships
being long distance yes met at a wedding yes these things that this is these are you're now dating
both dating guys that live primarily in another state come to see you we don't have these uh hollywood ambitions and yeah i can see
it that makes sense and i think that's i mean ariana and i were close before dan but i think
yeah the last year we have that to like lean on each other about like is he gonna move here are
you gonna move there is he gonna move here every time i see dan i'm like so you're gonna move to
la right i've met dan twice i haven't had the opportunity to really like get drunk with him or have a bunch of conversation,
you know, have like deep conversation with Dan.
I don't know him that well.
It seems like a great guy on the surface.
I look forward to the opportunity.
Ariana is just always happy and that's what matters.
Ariana is always happy and she's always on the go.
She's very busy right now.
Yeah.
So yeah.
Sheena then touched on why she wasn't going to have that glass of
champagne at the spa because she discussed that she was taking Zoloft. And I want to say to Sheena,
girl, I'm so proud of you because being honest about anxiety, it can really, it's like a double
edged sword. You know, it's like you can have the people that say, thank you for doing that. Like,
I'm so proud of you the way that I am. And other people can be haters on it. And it is a very like
fine line to walk on reality TV. And I really am just proud of Sheena for just her full on honesty.
And I just had this conversation with her not that long ago about her postpartum OCD and her
anxiety. I wasn't aware of how great it had been for a while.
So I just want to say I'm really proud of that.
Yeah.
I concur.
I concur with you, babe.
Oh, wait.
And really quick, can we talk about the choke on Sandoval's dirty dick?
That was fucking hysterical.
So at some point around this time of the episode, Ariana says, yeah, I sent Tom Schwartz a text.
I don't think he was like that mean.
And then it cuts to Tom reading the text when it's like, fuck you.
Yeah, fuck you.
I hope you choke on Sandoval's dirty dick.
I hope you choke on Sandoval's dirty dick.
Right.
It's just so funny.
It is funny.
It is funny.
At the same time, it's hard to get behind Ariana on this at the moment.
I understand where she's coming from and what she was feeling at the moment.
She could have said, I hope you die.
She just said, I hope you choke on his dirty dick.
Sure.
It was funny.
It was funny.
End of story.
All right.
And then the Valley promo aired during this first commercial break.
The Valley ad dropped.
They trimmed it from what everybody saw on social media.
It was pretty crazy to see it, though.
It doesn't totally feel real yet.
We still have two more months.
But I hope you guys like it.
I hope you want to watch.
I hope you're excited and curious to be tuned in.
I feel like there's this numbness.
There's this bubble of numbness around me that's not accepting that it's real yet.
Yeah, because it's not really real yet.
Yeah, once it airs, it will be.
But the fact that I've gotten some texts from some friends saying they saw me in an ad.
Is that weird?
It's getting weird.
Yeah, it's starting to get weird.
Yep.
So let's move on.
Okay.
So Ariana has a FaceTime with Dan.
Yes.
Right when we come back.
Something I wrote down that I really liked that she said was,
I shouldn't have to make my life smaller.
She should not have to make her life smaller.
She was discussing with Dan about going to TomTom that night
and how she hasn't been to TomTom since the night of the crime.
But she was like, essentially, she's saying it feels weird to go,
but all my friends are going and I feel like I should be able to go because I used to go all the time and I shouldn't have to
make my life smaller, like to do things that I want to do. And I thought that was really cool
because I agree with it. And it's not an easy thing. It's an easy thing to say and go, you know
what? I shouldn't. But then you're like, I hate the word should, to be honest. At the end of the
day, I hate the word should. What someone honest, at the end of the day, I hate the word should.
What someone should or shouldn't do is usually coming from some unsolicited advice from somebody
else.
I should or you should or shouldn't do this.
Ultimately, Ariana made this choice at the end of the day because she felt like that
was the best choice for her.
And that's all it should be.
Should, I said it.
But all it should be is a choice of what's best for you.
Not a matter of, oh, so-and-so thinks this,
so I should do this in response.
It should just be what's best for me.
Fuck everyone else, especially in this scene,
in this scenario.
The way she said it, but I know the way she,
no, that's a really good fucking point, Luke, truly.
Because I say should a lot too.
But I think what I know she meant is I'm not
going to make my life smaller totally she's not going to make her life smaller she's choosing
to do this she's not doing it by coercion or anything else she's choosing to do this
because she doesn't want to give that up right and she feels that that's best for her yeah that's
why yeah and it's so wild that she sat down with the girls and
there's this one open seat and she's like really i'm gonna sit here is the exact spot i was sitting
in when's the last time you and i were at tom tom the last time i was in tom tom i was sitting
right next to ariana eating sliders the literally minutes before that happened actually probably
when it happened when she the phone came out.
When she picked that phone up and disappeared.
Her coat and bag were right beside me.
I believe I was still eating the sliders.
I mean, to be honest, I was sitting in that same seat.
So, you know, here we are.
Love you, Ariana.
You're awesome.
But I get, like, I got that moment.
Like, I felt it so much through her mannerisms, through her eyes, through her whole vibe, like how emotional that was.
Even though she's able to like separate things, she hasn't had to be right back there filming,
talking about it essentially.
You know, it's not like she was just there with some friends
and maybe that would have been different.
Maybe not.
I don't know.
I'm not her.
But to have to be there talking about it the first time you're
even back there and sitting at that same table had to just be like a whole fucking range of emotions
i'm sure i think the honesty and the vulnerability is a lot is very appreciated on this side of the
screen i can't fully wrap there's there's a number of things i can't fully wrap my head around
to completely empathize with people and this is one of those that I've not experienced a decade-long relationship, period.
Next sentence.
I've never experienced a relationship anywhere close to that where then you are betrayed on that level.
Like, I cannot wrap my head around the feelings that she went through, the emotions, the roller coaster.
It's hard to empathize, but I know she went through it.
I know it's worse than I can imagine.
So kudos to her for going back to that seat because that's that's just wild yeah totally and then schwartz tries to walk up and he's like hey guys hey guys tom's here i'm tom and it just
it wasn't flying schwartz is awkward i mean he got stuck in a weird spot you know but he'm just saying, my opinion is he could have put his foot down.
I'm not saying he never had to talk to Tom Sandoval again.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda.
Okay, fair.
All right?
It's in the past.
He's trying to move forward before anybody else.
If you want to move forward, you take action, which is what he's doing.
He's trying.
I'm just very close to this in my heart and in my feelings.
And I can't help myself, but that's why you're here.
No, and ultimately, I'm not blaming Ariana for not immediately being like, yeah,
Schwartz, we can be friends again. I don't expect that at all. I think it should take more effort
from Schwartz, which he's putting in. He brings it up three or four times in this episode,
in the first episode of the season, he understands the position he's in. He's working toward it.
He's looking, he talked to Katie about trying to see if she can bring it up put it in you know ariana's ear because he wants to
get back to being cool with her because he knows ariana's great and he got he was betrayed by
sandoval with all this too so fucking rock in a hard place but i think look at your best friend

So then we have Lisa and Lala
being chummy about Raquel, Rachel.
I didn't really get why Lala was calling her.
I didn't get it.
I still don't get it.
And the only thing I can think is that they wanted someone to call Raquel and Lala offered calling her. I didn't get it. I still don't get it. And the only thing I can think is that
they wanted someone to call Raquel
and Lala offered herself as tribute.
Lala was willing.
And ultimately, it's interesting to me at this point
because Lala's whole position here
is that she's been that.
She's been labeled the mistress.
She's been labeled the homewrecker.
All these things.
You know what?
I think Katie's the only person on that staff that hasn't
or on the cast that hasn't. That's kristen has too i have stariana that's not on the show
anymore but ariana definitely was he was never katie was never right stassi and katie are probably
the only two that haven't been there sheena ariana sheena's introduction to vanderpump rules was the
mistress yeah i mean it's not like it's a unique situation to me, being an observer, not being in the middle of this.
It's like, okay, so Lala wanted to step up.
Maybe she just wanted the camera on her more.
Maybe, maybe not.
No, not maybe not.
Maybe, not maybe.
Yes, she wanted the camera on her more.
So this is what she did.
Anyway, it worked.
She got more airtime and everything's working great for her, being the one that's going to try to relate to Raquel.
And then, you know, she said tonight on Watch What Happens Live
that if she had a crystal ball, she wouldn't have reached out to her
because she never reached back.
And then she went on a podcast and said some.
Oh, when she went on Bethany's podcast.
Yeah, she went on Bethany's podcast and said some things.
So ultimately, I think this is just a small point
it's not gonna be brought up again as we move yeah it's like let's let's talk about the raquel thing
someone had to pass someone had to touch on raquel episode one someone had to because she's not
around someone had to touch on her i think lala went guys i got it i can handle it i won't be as
emotionally involved in it i'm not gonna make a Ariana do it. Lala stepped up to it.
Agreed. So then we have the girls at the den. They end up discussing this whole thing.
It's Katie, Sheena, Lala, and Ariana. And, you know, Lala obviously decides that she
needs to tell Ariana this bit of information that she did contact, try to contact Raquel.
And Lala says, and this is one of my favorite quotes of the whole night,
Lala says, you know, to play the devil's advocate.
Or this was about Tom and Tom, but she said to play the devil's advocate.
And Ariana says, the devil doesn't need any more advocates.
You know, at the state of the country or the world,
I don't believe that comment could be any more true.
That is, the devil does not need any more advocates.
Please stop being the devil's
advocate. Try advocating something positive here. And sorry, that was about Tom and Tom. That was
not yet about Raquel. It was for sure. It's a hell of a line. I love it. It's maybe the best
one-liner Ariana's ever had. And it's episode one of season 11, but the devil doesn't need any more
advocates. What a freaking line. Yeah. I'm going to get that. Ariana, you're going to tattoo that shit on me somewhere.
Yeah.
We need to end your handwriting on Kristen's body.
She has a big,
that's what I do.
She has a canvas.
I am a canvas.
She likes handwriting and stuff.
Yeah.
So then,
so then Lola and Ariana,
they do.
Lola does have this conversation with Ariana.
She does explain that to her.
Katie and Sheena,
they're sort of listening,
taking this all in.
I mean,
if I could be a fly on a wall,
the awkwardness and the uncomfortability of sort of just waiting to see how Ariana is going to respond and Ariana kind of just lets it go good for her that's what she wanted to do for herself
but I don't know I did I did have feelings about just like communicating with exes
and and Ariana made that point like well well, when it was about Roach,
no one could do that. No, this part is weird to me. This part is super weird to me. And it,
to me, it shows this, uh, kind of manipulative power I've seen in a number of friend groups.
This is not exclusive to Hollywood. This is not exclusive to Vanderpump rules or any other friend
groups, but sometimes you have a certain person that absolutely considers a certain activity unacceptable
by anyone else when it's about her.
However, she can act differently when something happened to someone else, and she can also
convince everyone else it's okay because it was her.
And that's what I observed in this scene with Lala, that for some reason, everyone just
accepted it and swallowed it,
that Lala could do this, that she could just reach out to Raquel
and be swept under the rug,
even though Raquel and Ariana were best friends when this happened.
That's just as bad.
That's as bad or worse than the betrayal.
She got the double betrayal.
She called Raquel her best friend at this point.
Yeah.
And Lala reaching out to her and this being a no big deal to everybody is just so awkward and weird to me.
It's so weird.
It was.
I mean, listen, at the end of the day, it is up to Ariana.
If Ariana is cool with it and doesn't see harm, like no harm, no foul, that's really the only person that it matters to.
It doesn't matter what the fuck I think. It doesn't matter what Luke thinks i think doesn't matter what luke thinks it doesn't matter obviously it matters on our
podcast because that's we're just telling you how we feel but within their friendship or this
friend group it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks but the way that it was set up with
the four girls sitting there and i just i felt this weird pressure for Ariana to sort of be cool with it or to sweep it under the rug.
I agree.
I felt that pressure that she had.
She was feeling the pressure to not throw.
Exactly.
She doesn't throw fits.
And she had this pressure to just like swallow it and move on because it'd be over sooner.
And I get that feeling.
I've had it.
And in this sense, you know, I obviously logic and practicality isn't going to win.
It's a matter of like kind of coercion.
And what's the word for likeability when you're like a speaker?
Charisma.
That's the word in charisma.
It's Lala's charisma here.
And her confidence and her ability to basically everyone just kind of, you know, nod with her and be like, yeah, it is different.
It is different this way.
It's totally okay that you did it like that.
I mean, from a practical situation, I don't see it.
I don't understand.
That just seems like coercion to me.
I think that's something I've known about this group of friends, guys and girls alike.
I'm not singling out like Lala or Ariana or whoever.
friends, guys and girls alike. I'm not singling out like Lala or Ariana or whoever, but even with myself, I definitely feel like, for example, I think Sheena and I have always kind of got the
shit under the stick on a lot of things because we stand up for what we believe in. We're easily
coerced and because we just want peace. We're like, okay, fine. I just, whatever's going to
make you happy is what we want. Right. And you're both quick to forgive. You're both quick to
forgive too. You're like willing to be like, let's not perpetuate this.
Can we move on with our lives?
Like we don't need to keep living in this world.
There's only one person that I don't forgive.
And yet most of my friends are still buddies with this person.
So if I acted the way that Lala acted in regards to that,
I would say fuck all of these people.
So I'm just feeling for,
I'm feeling for Lala in the moment for probably the,
I'm assuming,
I am assuming the pressure she had to probably call Raquel if it wasn't her
choice.
If it was her choice,
then I'm completely off on this.
Right.
But if she felt the need to like be that person to reach out in that moment,
I know what that feels like to do your job.
Yeah,
totally.
You know,
out in that moment. I know what that feels like to do your job. Um, totally. You know, uh, I'm so new to this and I don't want to excuse any kind of, uh, external pressure. If you're just
a friend in this group and this is, I'm just doing an if here, this is truly reality TV.
Cause we're just all speculation. Kristen's speculating, trying to find a way to be like,
okay, you know, Lala justified, whatever the way it came off to me, purely a viewer, it was just coercion.
They're like convinced everyone to quickly accept it.
And I guess I'm betting it won't even be brought up again, which is wild to me.
It's just so wild what people are willing to accept and not, and people can make a whole
season about something that no one's willing to accept.
But then something that I can, that I think is like equivalently disrespectful gets flipped under the rug
in two seconds.
It's weird.
It is weird.
I agree.
So anyway,
that's kind of how I'm feeling pretty much how it wraps up.
I saw at the very end,
do you have Santa while coming into a dark house coming home from his New
Zealand trip?
They talked about,
that's right.
They did bring up special forces that he was doing.
They didn't mention the name,
but yes, he did. He was doing a competition show.
He did a competition show,
Special Forces. I have not seen it.
However, what I know about it is that he actually did fairly well.
He was not one of the first eliminated.
And he
comes home, you know, he's rolling his suitcase
in and looking around like
hello, anyone here here and it's
next time on vanderpump rules and it's exactly everything we've already seen and it shows the
exact trailer everybody has already seen so no comments on that yeah but i'll end this with
kristen you're not gonna like this okay but that's okay i was i was at Sandoval's house a few days ago. What? I was at a bar and...
I did not know you went over there.
Sorry, I don't want to call it Sandoval's house.
Sandoval and Ariana.
They both, they own it together.
It's not just Tom's.
It's not just Ariana's.
Anyway.
And this was the night that you came home late,
which means he got so fucked up
that he didn't make it to Nick Vile's podcast on time.
You say late.
I was home before two. Before two. If you're home before two, that means that't make it to Nick files podcast on time. You say late. I was home before two before two.
If you're home before two,
that means that motherfucker's up to like 6am.
Here's the thing.
Okay.
Whatever.
Go ahead.
So you were at Tom Sandoval's house and you didn't tell me Ariana's house.
You were at my friend Ariana's house.
I was at a bar with another friend that's not on shows and everything.
Anyway,
it was there and Tom shows up with Kyle Chan who you'll see on this season. You've seen before.
Not sure if you've seen Tyler
and Tucker as well, but this group of
guys show up at the bar
and I was like, holy shit, didn't expect to see them
there. Pop in,
hugs, hi, everything. We play some darts,
blah, blah, blah. I want to go back to
the house, closest house by, obviously, is
Tom's. We go back there and hang out for another
hour or two. Their house is sick. You've is Tom's. We go back there and hang out for another hour or two.
Their house is sick.
You've been there before.
I've been there a bunch of times, sure.
Tom kind of did an additional little tour, which is kind of Tom's MO. Look, Tom likes to put his touch on everything.
He has main character vibes.
He wants to be the main character.
Kristen knows.
Everybody knows.
He's the main character.
It's about him.
He puts his own touch on this house, so I understand why he'd want to try to buy Ariana out,
and I understand why Ariana would not want to allow that.
I understand both sides of it, is all I'm saying,
because I feel like I've gotten to know both of them.
They've both been equally nice to me.
No one has ever done anything that felt manipulative
or mean or bad or whatever.
Everything outside judgment would be from the public view of either one of them.
Or my personal view.
Or you, in your personal view.
Sure.
However.
So you're just basically saying Tom has a bunch of cool LED lights in his house
so you get why he wants to buy it.
I didn't say the LED lights.
He brought up other things.
All I'm saying.
You said, look at my cool where am i
coming to the point on this i don't know he's like shorts right now i'm saying is i saw what
i'm trying to make i saw the penis flute i saw the samurai sword signed by randy jackson that
jacks gave him did he yes i didn't even know that yeah but he has a samurai sword signed by randy
jackson tom say i think tom sandoval got it for And Jax gave it back to him actually That's a greater story
That's amazing
So that's Step Brothers right
I got a Samurai Swords signed by Randy Jackson
We just watched that last night
That's kind of what brought this all up
For me to speak about because it's hilarious
Tom got that for Jax for like his birthday
Or something and then Jax gave it back to him
Because he was like fuck you bro
Oh man
I hope it's really signed by Randy Jackson I don't know how many of those he sold something and then jacks gave it back to him because he was like fuck you bro oh man i hope
it's really signed by randy jackson i don't know how many of those he sold but that's epic because
stepbrothers is such great classic comedy here we are so your point was that tom has cool lights
and a bunch of dumb shit in his house so therefore he should be able to say no i didn't say that at
all if you wanted to buy the house then he would have done it already i said i get both sides
really long time and i understand though i understand why he wants it i understand why No, I didn't say that at all. If he wanted to buy the house, then he would have done it already. I said I get both sides of the argument.
But he's taken a really long time, and we all know.
I understand why he wants it.
I understand why Ariana doesn't want to let him have it.
I get it.
I get both sides.
Yeah.
That's all I'm saying.
And I saw the penis flute, and the samurai sword signed by Randy Jackson.
I wish you would have brought the penis flute home to me.
I'm not going to touch a penis flute.
It's been repaired multiple times.
But moving on.
Thanks for listening,
