Starting point is 00:00:49 And I came to this idea or a desire to play this again, because I was I was actually watching the Stanley Cup finals the other night. And I was wondering how many people can fit into a hockey arena and I was going to look it up and I thought no that would be something better to do in my podcast. So let's see what guy who won it was the the Florida Panthers. Lord the Panthers max capacity.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Okay. All right. So how the fuck do you say that? Amarant, Amerant, I guess, Amerant Bank Arena for basketball holds 20,737 people for ice hockey. It holds 19,250. What's the largest hockey arena? Largest hockey arena is. Oh, well, shit, we'll see.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Got a whole list of them by capacity. Yeah, I was going to say it's probably not in America. It is a lot smaller than I would think. I mean, I guess it would have to be right. It's a pretty intimate setting. But the SKA Arena in St. Petersburg, Russia. Holds twenty one thousand five hundred and forty two people, that's in the K.H.L. I believe somebody sent me K.H.L.
Starting point is 00:02:16 hockey cards to open on the break show a couple of years ago at this point, I think, and I had a it was just a tragedy of mispronounced names on my part. But I think I still have about half of that box left somewhere. So maybe I'll dig them out again. Number two would be the Bell Center in Montreal, where the Canadians play. And that holds twenty one thousand one hundred and five people. There's any background noise or audio texture in this episode.
Starting point is 00:02:43 It'll be provided by Albert who has decided to become a regular Henry Jr. these days and is doing everything in his power to make noise when I record lately. He just it's I don't know what it is about maybe it's bulldogs or natural performers or something but goddamn the second I start recording into this microphone he wakes up. The other day Emily and I did that interview. Well, the one that you heard was the second interview. The first interview we did, I had to shit can it because Albert bumped into the microphone so many times,
Starting point is 00:03:13 I just couldn't cut around it. And it would have been way more work to try to fix than to just re-record the whole goddamn thing. Anyway, number three is the United Center in Chicago. It holds 19,717. What is the, all right,. It holds nineteen thousand seven hundred and seventeen. What is the all right? I'm not going to go into a whole thing, but I do want to know what the Boston Celtics TD Arena holds, because I have never.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Got a free add a spell capacity. I have never looked it up. I genuinely don't know. I always assumed about, what? What's a different TD arena? Hold on. TD Garden, sorry, TD Garden. The TD arena, just so you guys know, the TD arena is a 5,100 seat multi-purpose arena
Starting point is 00:03:58 in Charleston, South Carolina. If you've ever been to the TD arena, let me know. If you've ever been to the TD arena and the TD garden if you've ever been to the TD arena and the TD garden Let me know I'd love to know I'd love to have you contrast and compare the two Send an email to Eric at Jeff's boss.com the TD garden max Capacity Has book capacity again is 19,580 so When I was a game two of the finals
Starting point is 00:04:24 hundred and eighty. So when I was a game two of the finals couple of weeks ago now, I was among I was one of nine. I was there were nineteen thousand five hundred and seventy nine other assholes there. Well, seventy eight because my wife, she's lovely. She's not an asshole. It was me, my wife and or my wife and nineteen thousand five hundred and seventy nine assholes. Yeah, it's interesting.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Basketball arenas are smaller. I mean, once again, I guess it has to be right. Like you wouldn't. It's the way it's interesting. Basketball arenas are smaller. I mean, once again, I guess it has to be right. Like you wouldn't. It's the way it's played, you wouldn't be able to absorb it from much higher, right? Like soccer, you get the broad strokes from a distance, but I really and football as well. Yeah, anyway, and a baseball field's constructed in such a way that there's room for more seats. However, but what I really wanna know is what is the largest arena in the world?
Starting point is 00:05:10 That was the whole point of this. And it is, you know, it's interesting. I don't know, here you go. I'm so confused because like here in stadiumdb.com, they say that the stadium built in North Korea is the largest stadium in the world. It was built in Pyongyang and I believe it's called Rungrado. It was built for 150,000 people and at a peak can hold 190,000 people. It's the national stadium of North Korea. thousand people. It's the national stadium of North Korea. Oh, I see. It was downscaled after conversion into an all-seater in 2014, but to this day remains the world's largest
Starting point is 00:05:52 stadium. It can hold 114,000 now. So it did hold 150,000 and they shrunk it a little bit. That's interesting. In addition to that, there is the Narendra Modi Stadium, which holds a capacity of 132,000. So I guess that is the current largest stadium in the world, and that is in the state of Gujarat, India. It's a cricket stadium. It's their national cricket team's home, as well as the women's national cricket team.
Starting point is 00:06:23 And then it looks like a couple of different or one. The Gujarat Titans, which is, I guess, the local cricket team. Hundred thirty two thousand people. Can you imagine what is the law? What's the most amount of people you've been around at one time in your life? What's the most amount of people I've been around at one time in my life? It would have to be the sporting event, right? I would think Albert.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Very loud. Well, shit, now I got to think about that. Albert, quiet. All right, let's think about this. Assuming I wasn't just in a city. No, no, it'd have to be like in an event where people are crowded around together, right? What's the capacity? What's the Comic Con?
Starting point is 00:07:13 Largest Comic Con, largest attendance. 130,000 attendees. But now that's a that's over the span of a weekend not all necessarily there at one time So I don't know that that would count. I have been to a Let's see. What's the Detroit Lions? stadium capacity 65,000 is Ford Field. What about what are the big stadiums have I been to? I went to a.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Oh, I went to a Cleveland Browns game, Browns Max capacity. That couldn't have been a lot. Yeah, about seventy three thousand people. It wasn't close to sold out that day. All right. Let me think about this. Oh, you know what? I was when I was in Barcelona, I went to Barca and I saw Messi play. So that would be a Barca Max capacity. That's probably pretty big.
Starting point is 00:08:10 No. OK. All right. So I think that the largest the largest amount of people I've ever been around was Camp New. It has a capacity of ninety nine thousand three hundred and fifty four. And I was at what appeared to be a pretty sold out game. Certainly it seemed like I had to get through about one hundred thousand people to get out of there and back to my hotel. What's the largest amount of people you've ever been around?
Starting point is 00:08:36 And is it a sporting event or some other kind of event that I am completely and totally not thinking about right now? Like the how many people does the ball drop bring in New York City? New York City ball drop. So capacity. Let's see. How many people are at the New York City ball? Oh, fucking hell.
Starting point is 00:09:03 They say. They say about a million people attend the ball drop? How is that possible? That's well, I've never done it. So I can't count myself as one of those million. But if you've ever been to the ball drop in New York City, maybe. Fuck, dude, you definitely have me beat. This episode is brought to you by PC Optimum. Anyway, I'd love to hear what is the largest attendance you've been a part of.
Starting point is 00:10:28 What is large? All right. Now I got to look at largest worlds, largest. Attendance. Robert Indianapolis Motors. Oh, shit, you know what? I was at Circuit of the Americas a couple of years ago and they pulled in like 400,000 people or something. So that's probably it for me when I was at Coda for the F1 race two years ago. I remember that being like over four, I want to say like three
Starting point is 00:10:55 or 400,000 people. So that's probably it for me. I've looked up a list here of the highest attended events. It looks like Indianapolis Motor Speedway pulled in 350, but I know that the one I went to was bigger. So it doesn't have to be sports either. Just curious. Well, anyway, maybe you have an answer for me. Moving along, now that we know what the largest stadium in the world is, I was wondering what the longest runway in the world is. World's largest runway. The longest paved runway is located at China's Kumato bomb the airport. It's measured at a whopping fifty five hundred meters or
Starting point is 00:11:39 eighteen thousand forty five feet long. That's like that is long enough for the runway scene in that Fast and Furious was it. Now they all blend together in my head, but like seven maybe where they have that like 30 minute runway scene where you just like how is there still tarmac? Apparently apparently they could have filmed it and maybe they did at China's Comdo bomb the airport because eighteen thousand feet I mean figure a miles fifty four hundred right so that's a it's more than three miles long that runway Jesus H Christ. Why do they say why?
Starting point is 00:12:21 I guess I don't really care. I do want to know what the world's longest dock is. Ah, that's pretty interesting. The port of Progresso in Mexico is officially the world's longest jetty or pier. It is 8,018.98 meters or 26,309 feet long, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Holy shit. That's almost or essentially four mile long pier. Wow. Oh, yeah, there's a picture of it.
Starting point is 00:13:01 It's definitely long. Huh. Well, now I know what the world's longest pier is and I know what the world's largest stadium is. What is the world's longest foot? World's longest foot. Is that the right way to world record holder? She size is the world's longest foot is one of the dumber things I've ever searched for Uh this fucking guy
Starting point is 00:13:29 Jyson Orlando Rodriguez hernandez of venezuela. He's an avid basketball player and says he's had trouble finding shoes that fit since childhood And that is because his feet measure. Uh, here we go at 40.55 centimeters and 40.47, I guess they're slightly different size. That puts him at a, that's a 1.32 feet, 1.33 feet. That makes him a size 26. I am the size 10 and a half. He, that dude is almost three of my feet. Man, I bet that's cold comfort to Kevin Durant. Yeah, if you don't if you don't get that reference, he's got unusually large.
Starting point is 00:14:11 I mean, he's like 76, 11, right? Of course, he's got long feet, but his feet are even longer. And his feet are so outrageously long that they lost a playoff series because his extra long foot was over the line when the rest of his body was so far behind the three point line that a three point shock got called a two and a very frustrating for them. However, those are just the largest living alive feet. The largest feet of all time was Robert Wadlow, who I feel like I've heard of before. He, uh,
Starting point is 00:14:44 he was eight foot 11. He lived from 1918 to 1940 and they don't give his shoes. Oh no, they do. He wore a size 37 AA. What is the AA stand for? Is that does that mean wide or something? What is the A in a shoe size narrow or extra narrow? Oh, so he wore so he was extra narrow.
Starting point is 00:15:10 He had a 37 extra extra narrow shoe. Fucking hell. Can you imagine being of a size, you know, not necessarily tall, but like in any proportion where everything you wear has to be custom designed for you because they're just it just doesn't exist. You just can't there's no off the rack solution for you. That is that has got to be I wonder if like living a lifetime of those frustrations has got to like, it's got to lessen your lifespan, right? Like just like those little fucking,
Starting point is 00:15:51 just every day those little annoying moments, they just take a little bit off the top, right? They have to. So funny, I get so annoyed when I like, Emily and I went to the store the other day, I wanted to buy some shorts and I wear a medium and all they had were small, large and extra large and I was fucking, I felt so unfair.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Like, it felt so unfair that I couldn't get, I didn't, it wasn't even that I couldn't get the color I wanted, they just didn't have any shorts in medium because it's probably the most common size and everybody's a medium, right? And I'm just like, it's fucking sucks. It sucks to be the most common size. You know what? I bet it doesn't suck nearly as much as being the only size.
Starting point is 00:16:34 So I think I'll shut the fuck up about that from here on out because I'm sure Robert Wadlow and Mr. Hernandez had a way fucking worse and have it way worse. And then again, you know, everything you get is is handmade, probably and custom made. And so, you know, hope one would assume the quality is befitting of that. So maybe there's a bit of a blessing in disguise. All right, I think I'm pretty close to wrapping this one up.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Definitely not going to be a longer episode, but I do want to look up one other thing, which came to me on my bicycle ride today What is the longest a band has gone between? hits So the longest time between number one songs Well according to the Guinness Book of World Records The longest span between number ones on the US chart Mariah Carey has recorded 19 tracks that have hit number one Billboard Hot 100 with a gap of 29
Starting point is 00:17:32 years 153 days between her first and most recent okay I thought it was I thought I was reading that it was Cher but it's not it's Mariah Carey she's recorded 19 tracks that have hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with a gap of 29 years, 153 days between her first and most recent chart topper respectively. In addition, Paul McCartney went from 1986 with Spies Like Us to
Starting point is 00:18:04 2015 with Four or Five Seconds, which was a song with him and Rihanna and Kanye, which is a pretty fucking good song actually. 29 years between hits. I don't think Four or Five Seconds didn't hit number one, it only hit number four and Spies Like Us hit number seven, but you'd say they were both hits, right? So there's that if you're not counting number ones. Of course Santana, he went about 28 years between Black Magic Woman and Smooth.
Starting point is 00:18:28 That's a great one. Oh, Roy Orbison did Pretty Women was 1964, number one hit, and you got it, 1989, number nine hit 25 years. So there have been a few that have gone, well, I guess that's not even all of them. There's been a bunch that have gone well, I guess that's not even all of them. There's been a bunch that have gone 20, 25 years, but the crown belongs to Mariah Carey. We're going 29 years and 100 and something days between those two hits. Congratulations to her.
Starting point is 00:18:56 And thanks for listening to another episode of the So I'll Write podcast. This was a largest, longest episode. And oh, you know what? I do need to give you a song of the episode. Let's go ahead and pick. Let's go ahead and pick Coolier Cafe by Serge Gainsbourg. It's a. Fair warning, it's a French song.
Starting point is 00:19:17 It's probably from the 70s and well, if you've never heard Serge Gainsbourg, you should. And it's a great song. It's very, very catchy. And you'll be singing along, even though you don't know what you're singing about. But you're singing about a cafe. All right. This is the end of the show.
Starting point is 00:19:37 What?
