Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome back to Even More News, the first and only news podcast. We are so happy to hear you. Oh, we're so happy. Say hi back, everybody. Oh, your voice sounds so nice. Oh, it's lovely. So nice to hear you. Hi, I'm johnson hi cody johnson joining us today we are very excited to welcome comedian and writer for some more news and other things as well at other places el yerman hi el hi holidays oh boy give it give it up we
Starting point is 00:00:48 do we got some holidays for y'all we better y'all yeah what is this that mountain coming out oh no howdy y'all nope doesn't feel good thursday august 3rd the day we are recording is National Big Forehead Day. I get to celebrate well-endowed foreheads deemed unattractive and shamed for far too long. Agree. Yeah, man. Agree. National Everything Day. All things are beautiful. Show off your foreheads. Who's deeming them unattractive other than this holiday?
Starting point is 00:01:27 I don't know. Hiding my forehead. The man. The man. The patriarchy. Big small forehead. Big small forehead. I was going to say that I'm whatever on this holiday, but actually, no, I'm into it.
Starting point is 00:01:41 I used to think I had a big forehead and I got hooked on bangs. But I don't have a big forehead and if I did it doesn't matter but I do like my bangs and they are staying. Bangs are important. Good for them. But like you know I've had bangs for so long that I'm adverse to pulling them out of my face but I should do that
Starting point is 00:02:00 today. Well we will make sure that on January 7th we celebrate National Bangs Day. Is that a holiday? Yes, it is. What day of the week is it? You have to assume, and then I looked it up,
Starting point is 00:02:10 and it's January 7th. Well, it really depends on what day of the week it is. So we'll celebrate the insurrection and then National Bangs Day. Should we change this show to just being a weekly round, like a roundup of all the week's holidays? It's the most popular part of the show
Starting point is 00:02:28 so we should definitely do that. The news is so boring. The news can be boring. We'll start with Justice for J7 next year. Exactly. Thank you. Finally, some Justice. Fun fact about Bangs. Save it for the holiday. okay go ahead fine no please
Starting point is 00:02:47 tell me i'm gonna be giants is a band that i like personally uh they had a very popular song called birdhouse in your soul uh back in the day it was very it was like number one in the uk and they had an album come out where they were like very uh purposefully like we could get another hit in the uk let's do like a song like that and so they wrote a song called Bangs about bangs bangs on your forehead and apparently in the UK that word means explosions they don't have a word
Starting point is 00:03:14 they don't use the word bangs so they heard the song like what that's funny and it became a hit? I don't know how much of a hit it was it's a good song it didn't quite work because uh the bangs from war or fireworks
Starting point is 00:03:30 or whatever that's a great story for national bang day yeah I'm saving it beautiful I feel saved well I'm practicing it it'll be better it'll be better next time right well because of this the strike we're just gonna wait exactly this doesn't count yeah when everything's settled they'll be better. It'll be better the next time. Right. Well, because of this, the strike, we're just going to wait.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Exactly. This doesn't count. Yeah. When everything's settled, they'll be like, hey, guess what? January 6th. OK, Friday, August 4th. National Water Balloon Day. The first Friday in August was labeled National Water Balloon Day by the New Market Recre's camp juana iguana and new market new hampshire 2019 2019 yes jonathan found it here's a tidbit i found fascinating this is from jonathan this you're right there the summer camp reached out
Starting point is 00:04:21 to national day calendar this spring to get the day recognized nationwide according to their website of the 18 000 submissions the organization receives each year only about 30 meet the needed requirements and are selected what requirement to be a day this sent me down as it always does i'm doing the research and then i went on a holiday rabbit hole for like a half hour to try to find out what the national day calendars requirements are and their requirements are just like is this a thing that people do if you can show them that you do it you can submit a holiday does it have to be like more than one person because i'm not sure how many people are
Starting point is 00:05:02 acknowledging that the third or is national forehead day you know big forehead you get your birthday if you're popular enough oh yeah they said you can't that's one of the things you can't do it for a day you can't do like national elvis do well right but that's what makes national day calendar selective yeah they're the gold standard of this shit that we do every week national today calendar or national day calendar excuse me apologies to the national day committee what is their relationship to welling cat or whatever zero because most well cat holidays do not show up on the national day calendar because nobody celebrates those those are just ones that they made up for their own validation. Yeah, because everybody celebrates National Balloon Day.
Starting point is 00:05:49 Right. So all I'm saying is, if the New Market Recreation Department's Camp Juana Iguana can establish National Water Balloon Day, if we could get enough people to do a hashtag or something on a specific day if we really really wanted to we could then submit that and get on the national day count and we'll need to get a warm bow day yeah right you're uh celebrate your inner warm bow day right so like be warm bow something oh please can we do this consume warm bow okay we're gonna have to do what if we made warm bow a verb to warm bow he's everything so yeah i mean it works we would have to discuss this i'm thinking four meetings minimum where we have to establish like this is what we're gonna do we're gonna make this day
Starting point is 00:06:38 celebrate your inner warm bow day or something try to get it trending try to get as many people as possible to spam their local ice cream parlor i don't know you know we have to get it trending try to get as many people as possible to spam their local ice cream parlor i don't know you know we have to make it like a physical presence go to corn cream factories exactly basically if you want me to stop doing all the actual work i'm doing and dedicate myself to this yeah it is possible for us you get a high. You know that we do. We're joking, but I genuinely want to do this, and we will do this soon. So stay tuned, dear listeners. And get ready to be Wormbo.
Starting point is 00:07:13 You really committed us. But I do, well, I'm committed to it. I like this idea very much for us. I think it will really put us on the map. And also just, you know, we deserve it. We do deserve it. We've been sitting here talking about these holidays for how many years? When did we start?
Starting point is 00:07:33 2017? I mean, 18? I don't remember. 2018. So that's some quick math. Five years. Am I accurate? Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Pushing four, I would assume, because that's how time works i mean six fuck that's right there we go you got there we're so close feels like there's a lot of holidays to acknowledge and we shouldn't have one for ourselves even though warmbo doesn't really deserve one but anyway whoa hey jesus he's not in the room well Well, what is he doing? Is he not in the room, really, Katie? He's always in the room. Isn't he always in the room? Oh, God, why did he get here? Yes, he is in the closet in the studio,
Starting point is 00:08:13 but he's also with us all. In our hearts. At all times. I love Warmbo. Now. I know, I didn't like him so much at first. I loved the idea of him. It was the reality that I had a hard time
Starting point is 00:08:26 stomaching him. I'm not true with many men. Yes, right? That's probably where I came around. It's relatable. I love him. He's a sweetheart. It's just sometimes he's a lot. And, you know, when I first heard his voice, it hurt
Starting point is 00:08:42 my head a bit. But I've acclimated.ated you know you can't change it there's nothing you know he is who he is cody the shit i've heard you talk on warmbo don't make me feel bad for this don't make the shit i've heard you talk and the way you treat him just throwing him in the closet like that is not true i don't throw him in the closet he's in the closet i didn't say throw in the closet he loves it in there it's dark remember when we got a batman costume for him and it was way too tight and i felt bad for him so i took it off immediately because i thought he was uncomfortable it is true we did i treat him very well he said no no no buddy that's too tight much respect for him much love
Starting point is 00:09:21 and respect because if i don't he'll eat. What family doesn't have a little dysfunction? So. Exactly. Elle. Hi. Hi. We're so happy to have you here. I wanted to start off this little chit chat section by asking you to tell us about the
Starting point is 00:09:39 all trans stand up show that you host. Oh my God. Because I love seeing your posts about it and it seems like a really wonderful time yeah it's been a really cool opportunity we've been uh I host a show called T for T in Brooklyn every month I've been doing it for a little over a year with my co-host Aaron Dugan um we're both trans and we we put all trans performers on the lineup every month yeah it's been really really cool we hosted hosted at Metropolitan in Williamsburg, which has been like a famous or a popular queer bar
Starting point is 00:10:10 in Brooklyn for a few decades. And we've had some really cool people on the show. Sabrina Wu, who was just in a movie that came out, Joyride. I have not seen it yet, but they're awesome. They were on our very first show. And yeah, we had our anniversary show recently. So we pulled back as many comics as we were able to get. We had about 45 comics on the stage.
Starting point is 00:10:29 We gave everyone 90 seconds. We've had about 55 trans comics in the first year. Yeah, it's been really... After the very first show, I sat down with my co-host and we thought, do we know enough people to do this a second time? And it turns out we do. And we've had yeah we've had very little overlap the most people have been on is like two or three times
Starting point is 00:10:48 it's a really cool I mean I love stand-up or I like doing stand-up I have a love-hate relationship to the art form but it's been really cool to like elevate other trans voices and to build not only like an ongoing show but like a little like event that I feel like I can see all of my community at every, every month. That's beautiful. It's so important. It's just especially sitting here listening to you talk about it, being surprised by the amount of comments. Of course it's not surprising. I mean, it is like, I understand that reaction, but it's like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:11:21 but you create a safe space for people to come and figure it out because it is a terrifying thing to do it's like even if you are you know cis and a cis white male it's terrifying to walk into a stand-up room and do this let alone if you are any kind of uh community, you know? So to create an environment that's welcoming is a really beautiful thing. And it seems to be going very well. It's yeah, it's been, it's been really cool. And it's, there seems to be this unspoken rule in like standup comedy shows
Starting point is 00:11:59 when people are booking shows that you can't have more than one of a certain type of diversity person in the, like, my friends and I will all joke that it's very rare for us to be on the same show. Because you can have more than one trans woman, you can have more than one person of color. And like, obviously that's not a real rule because it's offensive, but people seem to live
Starting point is 00:12:19 by it anyway. So it's really a great, it's really cool that we get to provide this opportunity for trans comics to interface with each other and to meet each other and to see that they're not because so many New York is so big even being one city that you can be doing stand-up for years and not have met this whole other swath of people and that's not even counting um I'm sure there's a whole um like trans comedy scene in LA I know friends who have moved out there but I I don't obviously I can't pull from that crowd quite as as as easily as I pull from New York. Um, but we've had some people come
Starting point is 00:12:49 in from out of town. We've had people reach out to us slowly as the show, um, gains traction. I've got some, some names for you, I think from LA that would love to come out there. You know, I've got some friends who do a drag king show. That's really fun. And my friend Taylor is a writer and comedian and performs there a lot. And it looks, I'm excited to check it out when the schedule aligns. Because it just looks so fun. It's really fun. Like joyful.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Yeah. Like a beautiful experience. I keep saying beautiful, but you know. No, more than anything else, it's fun to hang out. We put on, it's a tight show. We host host like seven comics everyone's in and out in 80 minutes and then we go uh drink in the backyard so yeah and the last thing i'll say is you give people that space and you start to see how many more people with similar experiences and paths as you are come out there's just more that's how you get more uh trans writers trans actors comedians performers in general you encourage them and say that there is room for you
Starting point is 00:13:51 100 i'm i mean i'm thrilled about the people um who had on our show who were already big names or who have already gone on to like be in movies or or find their own like stuff but i'm also i'm just as excited about like the people who i founded a mic who had started doing stand-up a few months ago who now because they were on this show are starting i see starting to get booked elsewhere it's like i being trans in comedy but especially but in any art right now i all of all of my peers think feels like it's we're on the like very front of a of a wave of you are right trans people are here ultimately yeah and the conservatives who are reacting this way are doing it because i think they can feel it
Starting point is 00:14:32 too we call it the trans tipping point in 2014 or whatever but i mean it takes longer than a single time cover right so no yeah yeah it's like there there's gonna be writers and so if we can help elevate those writers then then that's what we're doing. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Oh, this just in. Hello, some more newsters with your some more shirts and some more caps doing the some more jig on a Friday night at the Dance Social. The kids can't get enough of some more news. Come join us and you can bathe in the bestial pool of our divine presence but we mainly we just talk about like minecraft stuff like that again that's patreon.com slash some more news one more time patreon.com slash some more news you know what one more time patreon.com slash some more news. Because you love us. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:07 It's time for us to talk about some news. Oh, boy. Finally. Oh, boy. I felt a tonal shift in my body. I know. Like, oh, okay. But party hat's on because it's indictment season.
Starting point is 00:16:19 Woo! I don't know what indictment season is, but we are certainly in it. He did it again, folks. He did everything right and they indicted him anyway. Another time. Yeah. A really good sign when you're doing it right is when you get indicted and impeached repeatedly. I mean, he's doing something right. Messing up, fucking up.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Yeah. He's so good at that, at doing a bad job at crimes and this is what we've talked about before where it's like this is the one that matters or not that matters like well because they all do but like this is like the one that would like stick and is like it's a problem that he did this the first one was like right like you know the doc like documents and stuff it's like all right document like yeah it's silly and bad and he's like avoided doing it for months and it's weird that he did that but like but this is like you can't do treason you just can't do it you can't do that allowed we're gonna get into the specifics here and look
Starting point is 00:17:23 they're all crimes and he deserves to be punished for all of the things the bad things there's still something in me that wishes this was the first one or like it's like it's a tough to have conversations with people that are like this is clearly a political attack well sure it's he's a political figure but there's reason. And he did these things and they're crimes and we should want to see justice. Also, it's like, yeah, he's doing all the crimes, but he's also doing them very blatantly. Very blatantly. Almost like a challenge. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:57 So challenge accepted. Don't do these crimes. But like it is, you know, I do understand that it can be a little frustrating where it's like why didn't you drop this first partly because it takes a lot of time to you know investigate these things getting together ready but also like there is a sense in certain communities of like well they're just they're just trying to do anything anything that sticks if this doesn't work they'll do something else and it's like well no it's just he does it a lot it's just the pile is very big it's not that they're like searching for something every couple of months right the
Starting point is 00:18:29 democrats won't stop trying to like well he won't stop doing crime he won't stop doing crime this is what he's talking about and like bragging about right involving rudy giuliani which is like the like first mistake there just like don't involve him yeah i don't think we're gonna get into like the rudy of it all the oh we might like a separate thing we do the rudy of it all a separate case but like god those transcripts are fucked up what a weird man we'll see what happens jonathan can you talk to us about the counts being leveraged against our beloved former president for for count number one free speech number two he's not allowed to say anything count sorry go ahead yeah uh the i mean there are four different counts it all comes back to doing a trying to do a coup
Starting point is 00:19:19 count one is conspiracy to defraud the United States. This comes with five years in prison. Strong words. The false electors. I mean, it all comes back to the slate of false electors. But yes, he was trying to commit a fraud against the United States with this fake elector scheme. Donald Trump's a lot of things, but he's no fraudster. That's right. He's a good businessman.
Starting point is 00:19:40 He's never frauded anybody. Yeah, I learned business from Trump University and there's no fraud anywhere right this has all been a really long scheme where he teaches us all the wrong definition of the word fraud fraud they're gonna cancel uh ap black history and gender studies and at trump university and then they'll have a conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding as uh one of the classes there. How to coup. So those are the big ones. Conspiracy, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and obstruction of, and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding can come with up to 20 years
Starting point is 00:20:14 in prison. Prosecutors basically will be arguing that Trump was doing essentially what the January 6th rioters did with his attempt to disrupt the certification. He wasn't charged with incitement of the riot they must have thought it would be too hard to use his words from that speech to like tie him to it specifically right and then the fourth count is conspiracy against civil rights uh they this is the one that a lot of conservatives are upset with because he used like an archaic law that's not how we do it although you know what how old our constitution is conservatives are mad about it about doing something the old way it's so it's very funny thing it's a it's yeah it's using an 1866 law that was initially
Starting point is 00:20:59 made to go after members of the ku klux klan and other white southerners who prevented freed black people from voting through terrorist acts. I want to know who is prosecuting him. Who like gets do they do you think they have to like wrestle for it? Who gets to be the one to yell at Trump in court? Yeah, I know Jack Smith has a whole team, but I imagine he's going to want to do a little bit himself, right? He was sitting in court today because trump
Starting point is 00:21:25 went to court and pleaded not guilty and jack smith was there although he apparently like didn't look up and didn't look at him this guy's a very like the prosecutor interesting no eye contact i don't i don't know i'd want to look at the guy yeah yeah too he's maybe he did one of the you're not seeing me do a side although i did see a tweet from a journalist doing journalism. Trump is sitting in special counsel Jack Smith's direct line of sight in the courtroom, and Smith almost certainly just looked at Trump.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Okay. Palace intrigue in the courts. Journalism is so important for our democracy. God. Breaking news. A glance. Before we get too much in deeper into this i do want to address the the joke claim that i made earlier about free speech because there's this sort of sense uh among again certain circles certain conservative publications and things that like they're
Starting point is 00:22:20 just like they're trying to they're just trying to like get him on stuff he said and like you know you can't like prosecute people you can say whatever you want it's free speech and it's not that it's about his actions um and you know getting like fake electors and i want to read this passage from the indictment it's the third paragraph the defendant had a right like every american to speak publicly about the election and even to claim, falsely, that there had been outcome determinative fraud during the election and that he had won. He was also entitled to formally challenge the results of the election through lawful and appropriate means, such as by seeking recounts or audits of the popular vote in states or filing lawsuits challenging ballots and procedures. Indeed, in many cases, the defendant did pursue these methods of contesting the election results his efforts to change the outcome in any state through recounts audits or legal
Starting point is 00:23:09 challenges were uniformly unsuccessful it's not about what he said it's not about him claiming that it was stolen although it wasn't and he was lying but like that's not what this is about uh it's about the actions that he took the illegal actions that he took to stop that certification um there are legal things that you can do which like it's frustrating to see like oh the democrats always claimed that it was stolen whatever yeah they do like the things that they can do legally and then they let it go and that's that they don't conspire with rudy give me my big tits giuliani to uh make fake electors and steal the election. So I just want to clear that up for anyone who was like,
Starting point is 00:23:48 this indictment is wrong. But then like they didn't read the third paragraph. And for as frustrating as it has been for like Democrats and leftists to watch Trump go through a four, like a four year term and like get away with as much as he's gotten away. Look, one of the reasons it's so hard to, to get a president on something
Starting point is 00:24:05 is that when you do, it's like, this is not made up. Like these are, he's done real crimes. And the reason for that is because we have this insane system to make sure that you can't just willy nilly accuse the president of fake crimes. They have to be real crime.
Starting point is 00:24:21 And you need, yeah, you need evidence of the real crimes. And if they're confident that they have that, they probably do. And I just want to make it clear that he's not being indicted because he said the election was stolen. No, but they're going to have to prove that Trump knew that his election allegations were false. I don't know if that's true, actually. I don't think that's true. Because the actions he took were illegal.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Like the conspiracy that is being alleged where they had these like fake electors and so on. If you think that you the election was stolen and you can like prove it, you don't need fake electors. That's like the action. I mean, I don't know. I'm no I'm no law boy or whatever. But it seems to be that the actions need to be proven, not whether or not he thought that it was a real claim or not. Because even if the claim was like, oh, it was stolen from me, I'm going to do this illegal stuff to make it not stolen from me. Those actions are still illegal, right?
Starting point is 00:25:15 Right. I think so. Again, I've read conflicting stuff about it. Right. Me too. And there's different angles that he's going to try to do or that have been floated as part of the defense. Go ahead, Jonathan, you had something. false and one they can pretty much do that because they have so many people every single expert around him every colleague every lawyer was telling every advisor every person so they to do that like the defense would have to argue oh well my client's just a huge dumb idiot but also right they don't really need to do that because committing fraud yourself calling someone and saying we need to find the votes which is as quid pro quo as it gets, as Peter said a few weeks ago, like, if you're doing
Starting point is 00:26:11 a fraud yourself, it doesn't matter if you think you're doing it to combat other fraud. And having all of those people around him telling him that it's not true, might negate his other defense argument, which is that he was getting the advice of counsel. Because that's the other thing that came up, is that he's going to say, well, this was John Eastman who came up with this false elector plan, and he was telling me it was all above board. How am I supposed to know any better?
Starting point is 00:26:37 And some experts have said that might be his best option. Right. His total ignorance. But what about that perfect phone call he had well if that's under the guidance of a lawyer's advice i mean really making john eastman the fallman john eastfall man the funniest outcome is still he gets convicted he goes to prison he gets elected he pardons himself funniest i mean that's not funny the country dies after that but yeah yeah yeah it's one of those yeah one of those anti-jokes
Starting point is 00:27:12 right it would be very funny if he freaked out in the court and like shit himself sure right that would be funny sure there's like we don't we don't we never see him frustrated really like yeah he's always kind of frustrated but like not in like a sort of unmanageable way and i i want to see him freak out but a televised debate in an orange jumpsuit would be very funny him you know having some sort of that sketch snl sketch right doing it with covid like if he gets covid again you know who's in that cell with him during the debate? Hunter Biden. Oh, yeah. Hunter Biden. That's good. Let's get him.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Didn't one of his lawyers was just on TV, like outside the courthouse talking about Hunter Biden's laptop? Hell yeah. That's the line of defense for him. It's so sad that the best the Republicans can do for that guy guy is like look how cool he is isn't that a problem like i also would love to do cocaine and fuck hot girls but but i am not give you once right we can't be yeah i can't they really think hunter biden got a big old payout from ukraine for corruption purposes but but he like didn't no it's so hard it's so hard i have to just stop those conversations and i know we did a whole episode on him i know and i go we believe
Starting point is 00:28:31 different facts man like right there's one it's one thing if we're disagreeing over should the president's son be in trouble for doing cocaine but we're not i'm saying he did cocaine and you're saying he's a spy for the russians like those are those are different we're not we're living having any kind it's impossible to find common ground on this one but you know it's not impossible going to an ad the ad break that we have to take right now you know time how time works move where we're contractually obligated to split put ads technical we're gonna we're gonna do that we're gonna be right back hello to our viewers and to the many ghosts standing behind our viewers are you naked right now perhaps you're holding your morning coffee cupped in your hands oh i
Starting point is 00:29:21 can see you now nude hands trembling from the scalding liquid. Why, I think you maybe need a shirt and a mug. So put down your coffee and go to tpublic.com slash stores slash some more news to get our merch. That's short for merchandise. That's short for merchandise No longer will you be forced to stay indoors To hide your many hand burns and exposed genitals Our merch store has all the t-shirts and mugs you'll ever need You can even purchase multiple shirts

Because it's the future, and you do not have to be naked anymore. And also, all of the things on those shirts can go on a mug or even a tote bag. That's right.

So once again, go to tpublic.com slash stores slash some more news to get shirts and mugs and bags. tpublic.com slash stores slash some more news. Sorry, ghosts. Not for you. Not yet anyway.
Starting point is 00:30:39 And we are back from those ads for news. We're going to talk specifically Giuliani news, I guess. You mean Co-Conspirator 1? Co-Conspirator 1! The Rudy of it all. We got some transcripts of audio files from his former assistant suing him for sexual abuse, harassment, and wage theft. He's a bad guy.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Yeah, he's a bad guy. He not a bad guy he's a real monster trigger warning for this though transcript that we're gonna read out loud a little bit of one i mean we'll try to make it fun but yeah i'm sure like listeners are aware maybe these aren't the first set this isn't the first set of transcripts about this and demonstrating his horrific soul i guess and uh those were pretty rough uh as well but i don't think that you can make this funny but i'm gonna read does somebody want to be miss ms dunphy cody unless you want to be julian no no i got it no you got it mr julian well no not excited you you were really excited you want to be juliani you want to be juliani is what you said you were like i want to be rudy juliani is what you said mr juliani no i'm not going to do a juliani that's not even a juliani come here
Starting point is 00:31:54 big tits come here big tits your tits belong to me give them to me indiscernible i want to claim my tits i want to claim my tits i want to claim my tits these are my tits oh yeah these breasts belong to me nobody else can get near these okay i don't care if they're flirting or they give you business cards these are mine you got it yes understand i'm very fucking possessive i've gone easy on you i don't know i've been easy on you you're pretty tough on me i've been easy on you give them to me maybe god mr giuliani this is where the racism comes out the way natural selection works jewish men have small cocks because they can't use them after they get married whereas the italian men use them all their lives so they get bigger it's horrifying but it's like he's one of these
Starting point is 00:32:54 click hole unprompted quotes like yeah why is he saying these things yeah it's so gross why does he think that jewish men can't have sex i don't understand i don't know what his worldview is he really it's because he's making some comment of jewish women not fucking their husbands or something it's because they can't get over the red sea being part of 3 000 years ago get over it already get over it didn't you say that yeah yeah if he wants big tits that bad i recommend estrogen but that's i know it doesn't work for everybody. There are ways if you want them. But you have to explore all the options.
Starting point is 00:33:30 But these are mine. Like he says, he doesn't have to fight for anyone else. He can have his own. I mean, I'm looking through the lawsuit from May, which had many of these original details. And because I was gonna you know put some more in our document here and just a quick scroll through shows any number of horrifying details he took viagra constantly while working with miss dunphy giuliani would look to miss dunphy point to
Starting point is 00:33:58 his erect penis and tell her that he could not do any work until quote you take care of this you can just like scroll through and this is 70 pages of yeah it's every moment sounds horrific matt damon is also five two eyes are blue coochie coochie coochie coo uh another quote i think of you as my daughter is that weird i mean yes is what he said to her yes it, it is weird. You're a freak and weird. What do you want to do to your daughter? Right. Yeah, it's really, really horrific. And the downfall of Rudy Giuliani has been something else to witness, though.
Starting point is 00:34:34 I'll say that America's downfall. It is. But it is mayor. It's bizarre because in one universe, this is all you can think about when you hear his name, like the disgusting crimes he committed for Trump and then these awful quotes. And then in the other universe,
Starting point is 00:34:51 he's just on like Newsmax every night talking and like as if he's not he's a normal guy. I guess it's a little soon just call it his downfall. But right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:04 In this world that we live in that we find ourselves moving through right it's like not a uh i mean you know time will tell i guess uh he maybe he'll be fine but like downfall in terms of just like yeah you're right now that jonathan is two different worlds they just don't care republicans have looney tunes powers as long as they don't look down yeah they don't fall exactly okay maybe he'll go to jail anymore maybe that'd be nice or at least pay out that one this information about like like this particular case seems pretty fucking damning and with like audio recordings and it like it doesn't like i don't see i don't see a world where he's fine unless trump becomes a president and he's part yeah right like i agree
Starting point is 00:35:53 with you completely and yet i really don't think i can ever predict outcomes any ever again sure oh never try never never predict anything it's like sure clearly he should but even with the indictments it's like i don't want to prove that one tweet right again i'm tired of proving that tweet right yeah yeah okay moving on to something more fun i'm not sure we're not sure l have you seen barbie yet i have not so okay i'm a bad uh transsexual yeah none of us have seen barbie but that's not going to stop us from talking about barbie oh thank god we're not going to talk about the movie because you know no spoilers don't worry we can't possibly spoil it but we are going to talk about some of the reactions because they just they being uh the conservative yeah uh yeah go for it it's just
Starting point is 00:36:48 really fascinating um in ways that are stupid also because there's this sort of preconceived notion about what all movies are and like what wokeness is and like the pandering and like well if you mention anything like if you mention that like women have issues with society then that means you're saying that all men are bad and that women's problems are worse than men's and there's nothing like it's just like this whole conversation that isn't actually being had that they have in their heads they're they're arguing with a ghost basically and so when you see a movie like this and any issue that women have is mentioned people like ben shapiro instantly go on this sort of defensive
Starting point is 00:37:33 outrage mission to frame it like oh we're being attacked this is the wokest thing i've ever seen also without seeing it in a lot of cases well yeah so i've even seen people who have seen the movie uh watch like his reaction to it be like he got stuff wrong he like didn't pay attention apparently or like didn't watch it which i think is probably true because also when he he did this thread about glass onion um and how it's really bad and if you read the thread you can read through it and be like that's not really what happened or like this this is wrong this is not how it went down or like they did explain that there's a scene explaining this thing you have an issue with where they go in they want to be mad they're like oh you're
Starting point is 00:38:16 making fun of my hero elon musk you're like oh you're saying uh you're saying anything about women so they have this defensive bubble go up and they don't actually watch it and when he has he has he's taking this photo of himself with this like pile of notes uh after the barbie movie and it's like maybe you would have enjoyed it more if you weren't taking notes like you would have noticed things that happen in the movie if you weren't feverishly writing notes during the movie um so the whole thing is just very silly um but i think and from everything i've heard the politics of the movie are pretty bland like yes yes 2015 pop feminism and a good movie and that's all it needs to be well again i haven't seen it so
Starting point is 00:38:56 apologies i know people hate it when we talk about things we haven't seen but we this the reactions are worth digging into and i'm gonna see it soon everyone i've seen talk about it uh regardless of politics like yeah it's really good and and like i feel everything in the movie but if your job is to say that like patriarchy doesn't exist and women don't have problems and like then you're gonna be shitting on this and it's gonna be worse for you because it's the one of the most popular movies of the year. It's incredibly successful. But like I've seen there's just I don't know if anyone's familiar with pop litics.
Starting point is 00:39:33 It's like this turning point USA, like pop culture, politics kind of thing. And this woman, Alex, something I forget her name. Apologies. But she's like a turning point USA conservative woman. And she this video and she was like yeah i just saw i finally saw barbie and i cried three times and i'm positing that any conservative uh influencer or commentator who's telling you that it's too woke or that it is woke at all is lying to you or they didn't see it and they're lying to you because i watched it and like i said i cried three times uh yes it talks about the patriarchy but it also talks about like well what if women
Starting point is 00:40:10 were in charge what if men were in charge and like the disparities that happen there and how like actually we're all on the same team and we all like our problems are everybody's problems all this sort of stuff uh acknowledging it's so it's so interesting to me because it is acknowledging things that conservatives push back on all the time and then frame like oh you're saying all men are bad no no no there's like there's a conversation being had that you're not listening to and seeing conservative women watch this movie and and say those things that the movement rejects in the context of this movie and like yeah it's really great because it said this and this and this and this is like yeah so talking about like the patriarchy and like the effects of that but cody have you considered
Starting point is 00:40:48 that it barbie might be a secret red-pilled conservative masterpiece because i have considered that get to that half a second first i want to say acknowledge well no i don't but ben's up there like what burning he burned a barbie and Ken doll he got the attention he desperately craved he's like mad he's also mad about Hari Neff being in it and like he's like Hari Neff whose voice is lower than my own Ben Ben everybody's voice
Starting point is 00:41:16 everybody's voice is lower than your own Ben your voice is really high so that's fine man that's fine also that your voice is high let's just stop reading into things like that anyway a side note i just can't get over how much of fucking the conservatives are such fucking snowflakes and like they just burn things we don't even do that shit like well that's the other thing like the fact that like it's because it's not really a children's movie
Starting point is 00:41:43 it's pg-13 it's for like you know it's for like women who grew up with barbie and stuff and and i've have heard that people are bringing their kids and yeah right but there's a there's an element and i think this is particularly true of like uh conservative media consumption and criticism uh where obviously they don't really like art and they don't really enjoy movies and stuff but like there's an element of it that is frustrating just as like an artist or as a consumer of media and a critic and so on where you can disagree with the politics of barbie that's fine i don't really care you're wrong but whatever but they're incapable of sort of watching a movie on its own terms and analyzing it and enjoying it on those terms right like i'm going into barbie i
Starting point is 00:42:25 disagree with its politics but i do understand and can acknowledge its goal it has a specific viewpoint and perspective and a goal with the whole project and you can watch a movie like that and still go it was good because it accomplished the goal right you can say oh it was funny it did this there were these scenes or these characters or this interaction. And it was a successful attempt at the goal that I disagree with. I disagree with all the politics. That's too reasonable, Cody. But it was still a good movie.
Starting point is 00:42:58 It still had a plot and a story and these sort of things that we want in movies, which we do all the time. We said it about this movie. We said, oh oh i hear it's pretty mid in terms of politics yeah but it's kind of good surface level stuff yeah our um our friend and uh head writer dave bell has a uh does movie podcasts and stuff and sometimes they watch bad movies that are requested by their patrons uh they watch this movie called god is not dead it's a kevin sorbo movie god is not dead and even he was like yeah i watched it and like obviously i disagree with like the premise and like the politics of the creators and stuff but i watched it as a movie it's not a good movie it it is all over the place it doesn't have a plot that like
Starting point is 00:43:43 nothing makes sense like it's not a cohesive movie and i just think they're sort of incapable of approaching art in that way to actually analyze something from just from like from there from the project's perspective here's what we are you can disagree with it but do you is it good you know did it do the thing um anyway it's because their uh content schedule requires them to label movies as either woke or not woke right right it's not a like a movie can't just be a movie or a movie can't exist outside of that dynamic right so ben has to go there and say the movie's woke it's terrible but then michael knowles can say like nope the movie's actually not woke it's so not woke it's the you know just set this up i thank you for bringing this back around what happened here so ben's going on his tirade and then michael knowles chimes in with saying he loves the movie ben is completely wrong he says and then someone says
Starting point is 00:44:42 for real he says for real some movies are ambiguous and one can read into them. But Barbie isn't particularly ambiguous. It's a conservative movie. Her wig shows her hand like four times in the last 15 minutes. Does she movie understand her? It's like, it's just so, it is fascinating, though, to watch this dynamic of, I mean, I'm agreeing with everything you guys have already said. Like, it can just be a movie. Right.
Starting point is 00:45:05 It doesn't, you don't have to defend it because you think it's conservative, actually. And you don't have to hate it because you think it's progressing some leftist agenda, which it isn't, except for, I guess, having empathy for women. And men, though. And men, though. It has empathy for both i don't know like and men though yeah empathy for both for both it's like about equality and like the problems that we all deal with and like it i haven't even fucking seen it but it's like this sort of pathetic approach like katie you're saying where it's like this movie's woke and it's bad actually this movie's not woke therefore it's good no no you can say it is woke and good it doesn't have
Starting point is 00:45:47 to be like a movie isn't good based on its politics you don't have to be like well they're almost always totally separate actually yeah exactly like you can like you like it seems like it's why we all struggle i mean it's why our side struggles so much when like Kevin Spacey comes out as a bad person coming out as a bad person. Right. But like, I love he's a brilliant actor. I love a lot of movies. And so I have to grapple with that. Those movies are still good.
Starting point is 00:46:17 And and like, you don't have to. Yeah, it's like going on. It seems like a lot of people who struggle with the fact that they aren't necessarily embraced by popular culture at large and can't be making your Harvard Law sitcoms or episodes of The Good Wife or whatever. But because you can't do that, you have to like these people are like watching a movie like, I like this movie. Can I can I say it's conservative? I have to say it's conservative because I really like watching this movie. It hasn't always been like this, right? No.
Starting point is 00:46:51 No. And conversely, there's a lot of times where a movie or TV show is quote unquote woke, but it's like super pandering. Yeah, we don't like those. Like a lot of Netflix shows, you'll be like, okay, we get it. And it's not bad because it's like we don't like like a lot of netflix shows you'll be like okay we get it you know it's not bad because it's woke it's bad because it's on its face pandering and like lazy authenticity right it's like i guess i was thinking i guess gina carano got fired for her politics but honestly she could have been fired for being a bad actress but she didn't get fired for her politics for talking no she didn't
Starting point is 00:47:27 well for it got fired for like harassment and yeah poor behavior right it was a offensive posts on social media comparisons oh yeah yeah the pandemic is not politics but like you know also yes she sucks in the show i just wanted to bring back around that i think she's a bad actress we are fast approaching the end of this show oh we can't talk about the movie none of us have seen yet no anymore but else since we have you here our beloved writer tell us about your most recent episode or not or start with that or or do something else talk about whatever i was gonna say or like something you'd like to write but this is this is out this is this exists already yeah i wrote about ai um which i thought
Starting point is 00:48:21 was way more interesting than i expected it to be going into it um i was sort of burnt out on the the conversation of ai just because it's everywhere on x.com which does sound like i'm talking about porn yeah i hate it i'm never gonna start calling it x yeah it's a real problem it's a real problem but it's it's really interesting and i think what i what landed with me the most is the realization that that the idea that ai is suddenly now taking over is sort of not the real conversation to be having because it's already everywhere in in one form or another and if it's not it's going to be what no matter what we do um especially i wrote this section on self-driving cars that got ultimately cut from the episode. But that technology specifically is everywhere.
Starting point is 00:49:09 The same type of technology that's in Teslas and is so bad in Teslas is working much more effectively in smaller ways in everything, in like email servers and facial recognition and iPhone, etc. Like every program in the world uses some level of the same technology that is in chat-to-PT and self-driving cars. And so the question isn't, and it's getting better.
Starting point is 00:49:35 And so it's going to get implemented in all of these ways we're sort of scared of. So the question isn't, how do we stop it? Or is this going to happen? It's how do we live with like that? How do we live with a, with a technology that is new? And I think the conclusion of the episode sort of comes to, which is that it's not actually bad if we get robots to do shitty jobs for us, has always stuck with me long before I started thinking about it as AI specifically, but we always hear about automation taking jobs or about new technology taking jobs
Starting point is 00:50:05 and it's like oh yeah that's good that's what i want technology to do is to do the things i don't want to do but it doesn't mean that people shouldn't get paid if we're creating it's sort of like using it as like there's this tool and we can use it to replace jobs but then if you're if the people who lose those jobs are an afterthought, then that's where the problem comes in. Where you're just like, oh, we'll just get rid of all these jobs. Like, okay, well, then what? It's because we have this economic system that's focused on wealth creation, which is fine. Because, yeah, we do get more wealth out of these robots.
Starting point is 00:50:39 But then that wealth should be used. The economic system should be used to better everyone. Like if we're creating actually more profit than we were before, you should be able to still pay those workers who you're replacing with robots and then still have more profit at the end of the day. But the end goal of our system is the profit and not the well-being of the workers. The goal isn't the fact that, yeah, life can be a little bit easier. It's more about making money. And control ultimately. Like, I mean, there's like a lot of talk about like capitalism. It is right. It's about profit, but it's also about like keeping people isolated in their job. If everybody isn't working and they're being fed and housed and taken care of them, maybe you start thinking like about all the other inequalities that exist in society.
Starting point is 00:51:27 It's really important to keep everyone sort of in their place. Yeah, control and constant growth. And it's like, I do go back and forth because you're right. And this is a little bit of, I acknowledge, I have an awareness now in my 30s of how things that are exciting and beneficial in certain ways have a very have lots of other repercussions as well and like yes the making things easier and automating certain things is going to make can make your life better in certain avenues but it's also further disconnecting us from like skills that we've relied on and people you know and it's like
Starting point is 00:52:07 and that scares me a little bit and i don't i'm getting very far ahead of myself with it but i start to think about the same way you think about how ai if they if the studios have their their way being able to leech off of stuff that's already been created and you get further and further away from it and what if all of our entertainment is this watered down derivative bullshit then how does that affect us socially you lose these skills right like these skills and you see it i mean we've done it we've lost there are there are skills that people used to have ubiquitously that we don't have totally cursive but even i can't write in cursive and we don't teach it anymore like yeah i've seen a lot of people like point that out like yeah
Starting point is 00:52:50 they just don't just don't teach it but like but even just not even like like physical skills but like with like the art and stuff there's like there's like social and emotional aspects that are sort of being siphoned off to um the pandemic apparently has done that as well uh in terms of like public spaces and people acting normal um but like yeah if you're like consuming this quote-unquote art that is this sort of like regurgitated like like feedback loop of like well we're like this is a watered-down version of that and we're gonna actually feed that into the system and then make a watered-down version of that then like just like i don't know there's like a cultural like emotional sort of element that is going to be even more deteriorated
Starting point is 00:53:31 than now big time i also wonder and i haven't done any research on this so it's just first thought but whether things like like things like autocorrect have made people worse at proofreading and i know that's true but i wonder if it's made them worse at critical thinking too. Like the, people don't have to put as much thought into a thing to make it anymore. Right. Absolutely. You're not engaging critically on,
Starting point is 00:53:54 on any side of, of the piece of art. It's certainly made us bad, worse spellers. Yeah. Critical thinking, pattern recognition, all kinds of just like basic,
Starting point is 00:54:03 right. Yeah. Sort of cognitive functions that are being used less and less in various aspects. And then people lose those abilities. Like people can't like parse a quote or read a study and you'll have conservatives getting mad about like a headline that actually says the opposite of what they're mad about. Because you lose this basic ability to like comprehend information if you're letting if you're relying on automation for uh doing to communicate yeah and then the communication just breaks down yeah well it's been a real pleasure having you here
Starting point is 00:54:34 it really has been wonderful having you this is a great episode yeah it's great everybody we're all gonna go see barbie we're not gonna look at our phones during it oh my god we're gonna turn them off it's like yeah you'll have lost at least all sense of propriety and uh how to be in public spaces and consider it put those phones away don't look at it don't text and look at don't take phone calls in a movie theater also uh i've seen people like well i was bored or whatever uh here's the thing well first of all don't go see a movie just don't do it if you know it's three hours long don't go see it but if you are bored in a movie and you'd rather be scrolling tiktok you can leave the theater and get a refund for the movie like movie theaters give refunds pretty easily if you're like
Starting point is 00:55:26 i don't like it i want to go like it's fine wait till it's streaming you can fuck around on your phone and pause it as much as you want it's like the scrolling of real life there is an element i think of um this like the streaming and the invasion like the home invasion of media we're like yeah if i'm home i'm kind of i got a lot of screens going on you know and so if it's like a movie or show i'm like invested in i'm watching it but it's so easy to lose focus at home and now we're out in the real world and it's like oh let's do that now no no no no no this is a dark room that we all came to focus on one screen yeah but yes it's all lost i try to be cognizant of it when i'm at home i'll pause if i find myself at a space where i'm starting to pick
Starting point is 00:56:11 up my phone then i pause it and i'm like well let me fuck around on my phone for a minute and come back in a half hour instead of hitting the back 10 seconds button a bunch silly right over yeah we could also fix this by fixing the Adderall shortage, but that's its own issue. Separate issue. And you can't hit the back 10 seconds button on the IMAX 70 millimeter print of office. You can't do that. You'll get mad when you try.
Starting point is 00:56:35 So if you're going to go to the movies, be prepared to go to the movies, not sit on your couch with your phone. Okay. Tell our listeners where they can find you. Promote your stuff. Like what in the next show you've got. So yeah, you can find me online as Ella Yerman.
Starting point is 00:56:57 On Instagram, I'm Ella.Yerman. On Twitter, I'm Elle Yerman because Ella Yerman is banned for ban evasion. And we don't need to talk about that. Some person? Some person got banned for a week and tried to get around it, and it didn't work. Whoops. You can find T4T on Instagram and Twitter at T4TComedy.
Starting point is 00:57:19 That's for the number. Our next show is on August 14th. So that's a week from Monday. Oh my goodness. We'll shout you out. Thanks so much. We're going to be theming it around the strike, but we can do a joint WGA strike and Cody's birthday.
Starting point is 00:57:37 Just so you know, Ella, just so you know, my birthday is the 15th, so. Oh, okay. Like we're born within 12 hours. At midnight, when the show, yeah, if the show goes on. What my trans audience is really looking for
Starting point is 00:57:48 is for me to celebrate my two cis bosses' birthdays. You absolutely should not do that. It's called solidarity, Bella. Exactly. Also, I regret that we've taken attention away from your show that we're promoting. Everyone, stop the show. Stop the show. Boss's birthday the show. Stop the show.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Boss's birthday is happening. Boss's birthday. So yeah, August 14th at Metropolitan, 7 p.m. It's free if you live in New York. We asked for a donation, but if you can't afford that, you're welcome to come hang out anyway. And yeah, we'll be posting about it on Instagram
Starting point is 00:58:21 and Twitter as that gets closer. Yeah. Thank you so much for having me, you guys well anytime on thursdays anytime on thursdays when we don't have well 12 30 when we don't one ish right and when we don't have another guest yeah exactly or like if we're taking a week off that wouldn't work but sometimes other than that anytime next year i'll email you again in like a year. In January 7th. Sooner than that. Oh, sure, sure, sure.
Starting point is 00:58:47 I'll be on that one. Well, we got to talk about banks for sure. Exactly. I feel like I'm forgetting something. No, I'm not. No, you're not. We love you very much. Ah, mom.
