Hello and welcome to Table Mammoth.
This is the final instalment of our LA adventure.
And what better way to finish it
than probably one of the most definitive LA personalities.
She works down the road.
It's Christine Quinn from Selling Sunset.
I was going to see if she could get us a house, Jess,
in case we're thinking of moving.
Well, it was funny because this house that we're in,
the Oppenheim group did, which is where she works.
Anyway, she is, if you haven't watched Selling Sunset,
it's on Netflix.
It was a bit of a phenomenon.
I never thought I was that bothered about...
Real estate.
Real estate.
However, they're quite characterful.
They're quite different people. They're quite different people.
They're not estate agents. They have to do
exams. No, it's slightly more sexy
here. It's more of a profession.
Stafflets flats. God, we've had a few
estate agents on this year.
Definitely isn't stafflet flats.
Christine is kind of the villain
of the show, even though I think
it's all a bit of bark rather than
bite. She's a mum of one. I think it's all a bit of bark rather than bite she's a mum of one I've
actually put on a Simone Rocha dress because I felt like I needed to make an effort even though
this is quite different to Christine's style I don't even know what she's going to walk in I
really hope she doesn't disappoint she wears killer heels stiletto she could take someone's
eye out with and she wears very tight clothing mum you may like this um when she tried
to sell one of a very expensive property she had a botox party at the viewing for who for the people
that were going to see it she might bring a bit today maybe because i'm telling you i think i've
aged um she's really brilliant has these amazing one-liners is a madam but i actually think she's really brilliant has these amazing one-liners is a madam but i actually think
she's going to be quite charming today or maybe not do you think so has she gone on to do other
things well she's got a book coming out um how to be a boss bitch oh my gosh um so that's coming
that will be out just my sort of purse yeah um from one boss bitch to another. I'm not. Bossy?
No, I think boss is better than bossy.
Okay.
So listen, this was a bit of a kind of, you know, we're about to board a flight.
So it was a last minute, not to say we haven't saved the best till last, no doubt.
But it's a morning fair. Christine is a workhorse.
Last night we tried to get her over
for cocktails but she was recording her audio book for eight hours she's got a lunch meeting
so she is slotted literally here for breakfast she's here for breakfast i know she eats lots
of things she has no dietary requirements which i quite love about her um if she eats i'm not sure
however um and maybe this is a bit cheeky too,
where we're staying, Benny,
he got a delivery of Yeasty Boys bagels.
Now, Yeasty Boys are down in Melrose.
They're really good, nice guys, and some cream cheese.
So, I mean, it felt rude to make them go to waste.
So we've kind of spruced it up with, you've done a...
I did an egg mayonnaise salad.
Yeah, with a bit of cayenne pepper.
With cayenne pepper and some dill.'ve got some smoked salmon got some nice tomatoes
yeah we've got onions yeah but i haven't cut it up you can do it um we're doing that with coffee
you haven't taken the smoked salmon out of the packet okay well should i go and do that
we need to get some plates out as well okay right christine quinn coming up on
i better get to work.
So now we have Christine Quinn who just rocked up in a yellow Lamborghini,
as you do.
A yellow Lamborghini.
I heard the roar.
It purred.
It doesn't roar, it purrs.
But I mean, as nice as she's making it sound I was lost found the wrong street even though I'm
a real estate agent in Los Angeles and um also I had a parking issue and but you're so sweet
but I was questioning you your success as a real estate agent because your time keeping is awful
Christine it's awful I know I forgive you awful. I know, I apologize. But I forgive you because your bloody car has met it.
I apologize on my part.
I read one thing I read done at 10.30
and my ADD mom brain just like,
I was like, oh, 10.30.
And then I was getting ready,
and she's like, you're supposed to be there.
I'm like, I'm so sorry I'm running out the door.
How is being a mom?
You know, honestly,
it's the most rewarding thing in the
whole entire world. I love it but I noticed that I wanted to live my life a little bit differently.
I'm more casual now you know I realize the things that are important in life and the petty things
that I was like obsessing over. Well I mean shall we get into some of the petty things that I was like obsessing over. Well, I mean, shall we get into some of the petty things?
No, let's get into it.
Well, you know, so look, Selling Sunset, when this comes out, Selling Sunset will have already
aired the new season.
Your book will be out.
Yes.
How to Be a Boss Bitch.
Yes.
She's coming in June.
Which dates are you coming?
It'll be mid-June.
We don't have the dates set in stone.
We should be able to come and see you.
But I would love for you guys to come.
Oh, well maybe.
Yeah, yeah. And if I've got, so when I'm not doing the podcast she's a singer and so you should you
should you can come to the show whatever we'll work it out oh look we're best friends now this
is okay good so so petty things how much petty shit happens in this new series it's extremely
petty even but you had the baby by this point though though Christine so I'm like you know so we'll
keep in mind we shoot back to back so we shoot two seasons at once right and um so you know it's six
months straight worth of filming because we want it to be as organic I can't even say with a straight
face but we want it to be as organic as possible in terms of the timeline and what is really happening in our life in the timeline.
But, yeah, you know, my issue is, you know, once you're a mom,
it's like you have real stuff to worry about.
And I can't be, like, obsessing about what someone else said
or what I said years ago, you know.
It got really catty.
I mean, it was uncomfortable watching.
You were really vulnerable. You were upset and, like, was uncomfortable it was watching you were really vulnerable you
were upset and like you showed your vulnerability you were upset you and your husband you know he
was he was I rate him because he doesn't get too involved yes which I really like he's not a Tariq
but he is a Christian and that's what I like about him he doesn't get too involved but he supports me
but doesn't um you know put other women down and I appreciate that yes the way he
does it is so nice it's it's classic can I just ask how it started yes so these two guys have an
estate agent yes very successful very this house was an Oppenheim um house this is my friend's
house he's a producer and he lets me I was just commenting how beautiful the artist is oh yeah yeah yeah so so were you
were a is it a real estate so you'd done your exams yes and were you working for them I was
working for them and then they said we're going to do this series about selling yeah so I had
been working with Jason Oppenheim for a while and um does he only choose gorgeous women to work for
him he leans that way but i mean
you're also talented you're very good at your job thank you so much but um you know he leans that
way just because um you know he he has a lot of friends who are women and also his ex-girlfriends
you know he likes to give them jobs and give them opportunities and i'm married it's been quite a
few at this point it's four don't say chrisel's already an ex now oh yeah oh she went out with him as well yeah after she split up with
her husband yeah mm-hmm oh my god yeah and then was that for the story it was definitely for the
story i'm not gonna lie because as soon as the season ended they broke up oh what yeah i know
you're not a fan of Chrishell,
but I kind of, I thought more of her, to be honest.
She's probably her best friend, really, in true love.
Oh, no, gosh, no, no, no.
Is Jason gay?
No, Jason's, Jason just, you know,
he's very clear that he wants to have, like, you know,
and I think it's really implied,
he just wants to be a bachelor and have fun,
but also he was madly in love with Chrishell.
He really, really was. So I don't know know why didn't it work out because she's a
she used to be a soap opera actress so you know like she's just she's in person she's just and for years from season one she has still not liked
me you know from that from that you know little fight that we have and I'm like girl I'm doing
it for the ratings like you like being the villain you like it I do because I understand
that it's important to have good television and I feel like no one wants to go there no one wants
to be vulnerable no one wants to push the. No one wants to be vulnerable. No one wants to push the boundaries.
So I've always taken the brunt of everything.
But it got too much for you in the last episode that we've seen.
I mean, series that we've seen.
You know, you were upset.
Yeah, I mean, well, then that comes from... Or was that acting too?
No, that wasn't acting.
It just came from, you know, these women think it's real life.
And yes, we are filming a TV show,
but a lot of stuff is amplified that we wouldn't necessarily amplify in the first place, you know.
And, you know, people always meet me and they're like, oh my God, you're so much different. I'm
like, I know it's a show and I have fun with it and I like to have fun with it, you know.
And, um, but they were getting to a point where they were taking it too seriously and the stuff
that was said on the show and you know the first way that we did the show years ago is we were able
to say oh i said about this this about you in a scene you know i want you to know like thank you
so much and we were really respectful of that and then um and then what happened is through the years
you know it just that all went away and everyone started holding grudges and then it just became so silly and then because one person didn't like me the other person
didn't like me even though like this coming season like I never had a problem with Amanza. I never
had a problem with her at all. Don't say you're beefing. No we're not beefing but she you know
isn't as nice to me and she's like and she even says on the show she's like I've never had a
problem with Christine but you know I'm loyal to my friends because my friends don't like her I as nice to me and she's like and she even says on the show she's like i've never had a problem
with christine but you know i'm loyal to my friends because my friends don't like her i don't like her
she was in your house when you just had the baby i know i know i know it's very catty it is very
catty it is who is your best friend my best friend on the show hands down is our newest member
chelsea lisconi and um she's actually British. You guys are going to
love her. She's British and she's just fabulous. Her and I get along great. And then also Vanessa.
Do you think you get on better with men than you do women? Do you think they're jealous of you?
I think jealousy with women can be a really interesting thing, but it's a small percentage of women that are jealous.
And I find that the group that I surround myself outside of the Oppenheim group
are women that, you know, want to empower each other.
They want to bring each other up.
Proper sisterhood.
Yes, exactly.
And so those are the people that I surround myself with.
But I find in the show, you you know it's difficult to find those
girls so how's work like are you are you like how many days a week are you working for Oppenheim
Great Nap well you're a busy bee it's um I thought you were going to say bit no I wasn't
oh my word I thought you can't get into all of this um no, you know, so I, uh, probably about seven months, my husband and I got really creative.
What does he do? Uh, he's a software engineer by trade. So he's in tech.
Is he gorgeous? I've not seen him. He is super cute. And he's just everything you can want just
in a man. He's just so, you know, like chivalrous and just like,'s just so incredible you know from texas too no he's from
new york yeah he's from new york and new jersey actually but so you know after all the drama was
playing on the show he was like you know what you're so smart you're so capable why don't you
open up your own business and your own brokerage and so you know what that's what i did and that's when the boss bitch happened so it was happening
before but i am so excited today that um officially we launched our site and we're
going to start to be marketing but it's called real open and it is a platform where anyone can
not only buy a house but they can also um buy it with crypto if they want to. So people like in London who are having problems getting houses in the United States
because of money are able to buy houses with crypto.
So we flip it for you and then the seller receives cash.
So how do you liquidate the crypto?
Because I only know people who save in crypto or invest.
I've never known someone that's absolutely...
Is this quite...
Exchange the currency.
Is this quite new, this idea?
Yeah, it's very new.
It's very new.
Crypto's the thing, isn't it?
Yeah, but essentially what you do is,
the way that it works is you don't have to ever lose or liquidate anything.
What you do is you transfer your crypto
and then your crypto will
turn into an all cash offer to the seller or the buyer whomever it may be getting some crypto yeah
i mean we can't afford anything in bloody los angeles we can't afford a coffee i tell you
jesus christ very expensive it's so expensive here um I want to know, you're a Texas girl.
Absolutely.
So where did you, where were you born?
I was born and raised in a small town called South Lake, Texas, where they used to actually,
people used to ride horses to the grocery store.
Shut up.
Swear.
Actually, do you know, if I was to imagine a Texan girl, it would be someone who looks
like you.
Because Geri Hall's Texan, isn't she?
She's my icon.
Are they all gorgeous blondes from Texas?
She's my reason for everything.
So Luke Day, a friend of mine, did an amazing styling shoot with Christine for Sunday Time Star where she was basically Geri Hall.
I was.
And it was so similar.
It was Geri Hall.
That was the inspiration.
It was amazing.
And that's exactly what Luke said going in.
He said, you know, we wanted the inspiration to be Jerry Hall because we think you look
a lot like her and she's an icon and we wanted to recreate her.
It was great.
So that's what we did.
We did this 80s themed shoot.
It was great.
So you grew up in Texas eating a lot of meat.
Yes.
Everything.
Honestly, I eat everything.
Meat.
Did you have meat?
What did your dad do?
Was he a farmer?
No.
So my mother um
originally was a computer programmer she's really really smart and um my dad is an engineer by trade
and mechanical engineer and but my mom got really sick she had cancer twice so she had to
retire from her job and then um so my dad just works now as a engineer and does he go to work
on a horse with no no gosh no no okay but can i just understand was your high school like friday
night lights my high school yeah have you ever watched friday night lights it's a very favorite
program of course i know the program very well and actually filmed
in Austin um my my high school Friday nightlight situation was not was not glamorous at all okay
I was a theater nerd um I was I was very different and I didn't feel comfortable in my body I I was
really tall and lanky it's hard being tall when you're growing up but I wasn't pretty back then
I just I I didn't feel that way what do you mean you weren't pretty you know it's it's hard being tall when you're growing up. But I wasn't pretty back then. I just, I didn't feel that way.
What do you mean you weren't pretty?
You know, it's a funny thing because I grew up.
You haven't changed your face, Christine, have you?
I've had lip injections and Botox.
Have you?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But that's it.
But I'm saying about how you have Botox parties at viewings
and mum said, could you bring some over?
I'm not trying to hide that fact at all.
But no, I didn't i never felt
comfortable in my body because i grew up watching darlie parton and marilyn monroe and i just i
didn't feel like i looked like them and and so i felt like i needed to change my body so i did get
a breast augmentation and that was one of the best things that i ever did because I was, uh, I was 25 and in my mind it's like, I want it. I,
until I, that translated physically, then that's when the confidence came because, you know, I know,
I know that a lot of people identify with like, you know, um, you know, gender problems or whatever
it may be or gender issues and, you know, not feeling a certain way, but that's I was like I don't feel sexy I don't feel like myself and then once I did that
I felt like the best version of myself and it was the best thing I ever did um did you um did you
eat well in Dallas well in Texas what what what kind of is a very memorable dish from your childhood
um the best dish from my childhood is barbecue so we grew up in a barbecue i don't know if you
guys like do you guys love barbecue i love it and i've been to os i've been to i've been to
texas and i've had great barbecue okay we love barbecue we don't always have the weather yeah
but we i have been known to barbecue even when it rains because i love barbecue taste i do too
do you like charcoal or gas?
Charcoal.
Me too.
I think it just gives a better flavor. But it's a bit of a faff in the evening.
Have you got a green egg then, Christine, or not?
Oh, a green egg.
A green egg, a big green egg.
You know, the barbecues.
What do you cook?
Oh, I don't know what that is.
Oh, babe, you've got to get one.
I don't know what a green egg is.
Well, you can do like smoking brisket.
It's like a green egg.
I've never heard of it.
Oh, the queens of barbecues, I think.
I think it would really help with selling a place if they've got a big green egg.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I'm going to check out a green egg.
Sexy.
Because I'm into, I love like the sausage, the brisket, the ribs, the chicken, all that stuff.
I make that.
And, you know, the sauce, like, sauce like oh I just I'm a sauce person are
you are you good at cooking I'm very good at cooking I'm very good what's what's the what's
the one that Christian always likes to demand you know there is this one Hungarian dish that
my mom actually grew up with and is she from Hungary uh her her mother is okay so it's called chicken paprikash
and it's spetzels which are noodles so I hand make the spetzels oh yeah with you know over the
with the flour everything I do the whole thing everything I do is from scratch and um then has
chicken and a really wonderful sauce with paprika it's it's spicy but savory a little bit of cream
and mushroom diced the mushrooms um a little bit of cream and mushroom dice the mushrooms
um a little bit of a dollop of sour cream and the sauce and it is homely and reassuring i love
the comfort food you'll have that after a big fight with chrishell yeah jesse she doesn't look
like she eats so i've seen her eating she's always got a bloody burger or something. She's always there eating. It's just genetics.
Yeah, fuck you.
I've been like...
I know.
We're so depressed.
I love food so much.
Look at me and then Jess is...
No!
You guys both look incredible.
Don't be silly.
You're so sweet.
Just shush.
I can't get into it.
I've never gone into a size of that gene before.
Not even when you were born.
No, I know.
I know.
How old's your son now?
My son is about to turn one, actually, believe it or not.
When?
Well, his birthday is May 15th.
And what's he, are you having a party?
We are having a party.
I'm actually going to be with my parents in Texas because I'm doing a book tour.
And so we're bringing him there and having a party there.
We know about your parties.
Mum doesn't know about your parties, but you like a party.
I love a good party.
You like a kind of outrageous.
I do.
Do you have themes?
Oh, I always have themes.
Tell her about your wedding.
My wedding was a winter wonderland.
In Los Angeles.
In Los Angeles, a gothic themed wedding.
Did it snow?
Yes.
So I had a black wedding dress.
We made it snow.
We had LED screens of a snowstorm going on um in addition to that
you know when we walked out when i walked on the aisle the snow and the fog came we had swans um
originally they started white and then after we got married they transformed to black so the whole
wedding that happened what they got spray paint the whole entire wedding venue started out white
you know like before getting married and then we moved everyone outside to cocktail hour.
And in 45 minutes, 150 people transformed the entire room into an all black, um, in
all black theme with, you know, black and red lightning.
And then, um, I, you know, I mean, mom, we need to go to, we need to go to that rooftop
party in London.
Oh, you're having a theme there. Of course we are. Yeah. yeah yeah we haven't quite figured out the theme but it's gonna be really
fun i am just i love a good theme love but it's the drama all of it it's the drama but also it's
my creativity because i i love to express myself you're really a theater well she was an actress
yeah yes yes exactly i i grew. I grew up in theater.
That's all I knew in school.
So, come on, what's the theme for your son's party?
Are you working it out?
What are we going with?
Well, it's really funny because he likes cars a lot.
He loves cars.
He's obsessed with cars.
So, but we're having it in Texas at my parents' house, which is small.
So, we're really limited there.
So, we're thinking of doing a small party there
and then here having something bigger where we can bring friends,
you know, from here at our house.
And that way I can really play that one up.
So I haven't thought of a theme, but he does love cars and food, obviously.
Is he going to be included into the TV show at all?
Yeah, he was.
So he was in season four a lot.
And then season five, I think he was in a few
episodes as well. And how does that feel to you? I do, I do. You know, everyone's like, why don't
you post about your baby? Why don't you post about your baby? And what happened is I did this beautiful,
I just, and I wanted to protect his privacy. You know know I wanted to figure out if he wanted to be
you know in social media and like wanted to have those pictures you know like I want I want him to
decide for himself and so um I did this photo shoot and it was really beautiful and it was me
holding him and you know he was he was you know he's my baby so he was either in a diaper or it
was just his cute little butt cheeks and I was holding him like this and you know I got so much critique from moms and the backlash
oh my gosh you should never have your child naked on the internet and it wasn't like I was not
exposing anything it's just no and even then it was I was holding over it so it was just like
implied nudity and of course like he's a baby and that's beautiful and like you know and and that just was just like another blow because
I was like how can I not even cherish these amazing times is his cute little chunky body
this makes me so happy and everyone always has something to say so that's the thing I think also
your your character in the show which you know you are sweetness and light and you've got that southern hospitality.
As soon as you like walk in, you're charming.
You are in the show, but like, you know, there's an edit of you on you.
And you kind of, and you accept that.
You know it comes with it.
It's hard, but yeah.
But that's the thing.
It's like, there must be repercussions for you in like, I don't know, your mental health or I don't know.
Has it changed the way that you can work do you feel like people have
these preconceived notions of you when they go to see a house with you I mean is it if anything
it's actually taken people take me more seriously because of the show and I find that very interesting
in business when I'm negotiating making deals I find I find that people don't want to mess with me.
And they're just like, yep, whatever she says.
So it actually works in my favor in business.
However, in my personal life, when I do meet people and fans, they come up to me like,
oh my God, I'm so excited.
Oh my God, I love you.
And they're like, oh my gosh.
And you're actually like so sweet.
And I'm like, yeah.
I'm like, thank you.
But yeah, I mean, mean so in business it's really
helped me because I think people are like oh I want that girl to work for me that girl works
stuff like she gets it done you know what's the most expensive um house that you've sold I was
gonna ask that yeah the most expensive house that I sold was um a 17 million dollar listing in Orange
County and that was the probably the
second year so I started doing really safe it wasn't even on the show this was
this was old so so so if you've set up your own company you're no longer
working for the Oppenheim group we can can we okay no comment there but yes I
have started my own brokerage.
And I'm going to, yeah, I'm going to have to make some decisions real soon.
Right.
Oh, TBD.
Who have been your most difficult clients?
You know, I really, I pick and choose who I work with, which I really like.
How can you do that?
Because it's a certain level.
Is that being part of the often home group that you can select?
So if I want to buy it, so Jessie and I would be, maybe we'll move out here for a year.
Yeah.
We want to buy a house and we definitely want a granny flat so I can live separately.
I don't know how that works.
Where are we looking, Christine?
Well, I think you would be looking in the Valley,
which would be like Studio City, Sherman Oaks,
where there's more flat land, there's more land,
and you get more price for your... What about Pasadena? I hear Pasadena.
Oh, beautiful.
A little bit more expensive.
A little bit more expensive.
But we'd like a granny flat and a pool, definitely.
Okay, so definitely in the Valley.
You're going to get more for your money,
and you're going to have more land.
Where do you live?
I live in... Oh, gosh. I live in the Hills. Is. You're going to get more for your money, and you're going to have more land. Where do you live?
I live in, oh gosh, I live in the hills.
Is that the one that's on the show?
Yes.
So I live right above the office, and I'm up in the hills, and I'm getting tired of it.
I have a baby, and every time I go on walks, I'm having to like, the stroller, it's so hard,
because our hills are so steep.
Which hills, though?
There's lots of hills.
The, like, right up Sunset Plaza,
which is very difficult once you have a family
to start living like that.
Yeah.
So we moved in there
and you know,
we were single,
whatever,
no problem.
And now it's become an issue.
Have you got a pool?
We do,
we do,
but our yard isn't big
and I would like more of a yard.
So where are you going to move to?
That's a great question.
We've been discussing that for so long.
Would you,
would you, who's doing the real estate?
Is it you?
Oh, obviously me.
Okay, you wouldn't get someone else.
You offered us Studio City and Sherman Oaks,
but somehow I don't feel like you're a Studio City or Sherman Oaks gal.
You know what?
That's not true.
Before I lived here, I actually did live in the valley for years.
But I don't believe you're going back to the valley.
I probably won't. You're going to Calabasas. i would go to calabasas if i had the money i mean that's like very very how much is a nice house that we'd look for in calabasas oh forget but
people have no idea how much things cost okay in europe so our listeners will not know. I would say you're looking at.
So we want a three, four bedroom house and a little granny flat.
Okay.
And a pool.
I would say you're looking at $4 million outside of a gated community, inside of a gated community,
which a lot of places in Calabasas are, seven.
But you have to understand also, it's in the middle of nowhere
so oh no i like a little bit of a community you like it you like a corner store and i need a nice
delicatessen nearby you can't do that then because it's 30 minute drive into town okay so tell me
you're asking chris jennifer a cup of sugar that's exactly i think uh honestly i think studio city would be perfect for you
back to food yeah so we ask every guest yeah what their last supper is it's a it's a start
oh an appetizer an entree dessert, and a drink of choice.
You're going somewhere.
You're going to live with Rochelle on an island for six months.
She's not going.
She's not killing each other.
I'm eating each other.
All right.
So better not.
I love this.
Okay.
So my last supper would be definitely a rack of ribs, a slab of, you know, a big slab of ribs with barbecue sauce.
I love pasta, so I would need a carbonara with extra crispy bacon.
Where do you go for your pasta in LA?
Which is your favorite?
I've had John and Vinny's for three nights in a row and I hate myself.
And I know it's not good.
I had John and Vinny's the other day.
I mean, it's delicious.
I actually think Angelini was better. And it's i had john in the other day yeah i mean it's delicious i
actually think angelini was better and it's a good place that's a good lemon pasta where are
you where are you going for your carbonara um i love ebaldi oh and then i also love um
austeria labuca okay it's an amazing place It's owned by the same people that own Angelina Osteria.
Oh, really? Yes. So I don't know where it is, but I always Uber Eats it. It comes out,
it comes out still to the house. Fabulous. Like I don't care about microwave it heated up. Like
food is food to me. Um, and then, so I need my meat. I need my pasta. And then obviously I would
have a nice chocolate cake, like a nice chocolate cake. And I I love soda no one knows this about me I'm obsessed with Dr. Pepper yes I love soda I drink three sodas a day with sugar or without with I
know I cannot break this habit I can't I can't break this habit I don't know why but I just need
the bubbles I need the sugar it just gives me like a jolt and I love it. Have you ever done your brisket with Dr. Pepper?
I have actually and I've also done,
have you started turdunkin?
You want to.
Okay.
So it's this thing
that they do primarily in the South
and they take a turkey
and they deep fry it.
Okay.
A whole big turkey
or joint it first?
Oh no,
a whole big turkey.
What?
Deep fry it.
What are you deep frying it in a big barrel? Yeah, they have like a big, like that joint it first? Oh, no. A whole big turkey. Deep fried. What? You deep fry it in a big barrel?
Yeah.
They have like a big, like that for it, you know?
Yeah.
And then what they do is they create this beautiful glaze and it's a sweet brown sugar
Dr. Pepper glaze.
And it is to die.
If like, for any of your meats, look up like like, Dr. Pepper brown sugared barbecued glaze,
and it will change your life.
You will thank me forever.
Can we get Dr. Pepper in England?
I feel like you should be the face of Dr. Pepper, babe.
Don't, don't.
Yeah, you can get Dr. Pepper.
I don't know whether you can.
Yes, you can, I think.
In the, in the stores, you can.
Like, grocery stores.
But it's not, like, widely available at restaurants.
It's not like getting a Diet Coke or anything.
Yeah, exactly.
Okay, so the chocolate cake is um what are we talking about
birthday chocolate cake or flourless oh gosh no not flourless no i need flour i'm not that type
at all i am talking a good like five layer dense but i like a buttercream frosting yeah um in addition to that I also love a good um
have you had German chocolate cake yeah Sasha oh yes okay yes yeah it's something else yeah
I love that because it's got like a ganache on the top yeah love that one I I I don't think
anybody's ordered this kind of last supper and I I like you even more for it, Christine.
Cooking a whole turkey.
I wonder how long that takes to fry.
Oh, a while, I would think.
Must take about two, three hours.
For sure.
I would think an hour minimum.
I want to know, because you have all these theme parties.
Do you ever have karaoke?
I am the biggest fan of karaoke.
Really?
Yes.
I knew you had something in common common even if it wasn't my body
to karaoke um absolutely which song is your song the most recent one chick the most recent one i
did was a country song actually it was um who was it wasn'tlly Parton. It might have been Reuben McIntyre.
But I do it all.
I do it all.
I can get down.
Like Christina, give me a few drinks.
I'm good to go.
I think I'm anyone on karaoke as soon as I start.
I'm like, I love it.
Do you and Christian duet?
My husband is the worst singer in the whole entire world.
But you know what?
I give him ever because he tries.
Yeah.
I think someone who tries, it's worth it.
So you travel quite a lot.
I remember seeing these bump pictures of you on a yacht or something.
Bump pictures of her.
I thought you said bum pictures.
You were in Europe somewhere.
So you travel quite a lot.
We do.
My husband loves it. And so where would be your, I think I know the answer but your go-to destination
for cuisine my go my go-to destination for cuisine is definitely France and that's because my husband
is French and um the most incredible restaurant we've ever been to and have literally flown back
to go just to that restaurant is Gordon Ramsay has a restaurant in um bordeaux and it's
at this beautiful hotel called what's the name of the hotel but just google gordon ramsay bordeaux
there's not a lot of for your for your launch incredible so you're gonna die listen to this
they had a lobster press and what they do is they put the whole lobster in this beautiful
it's made by Christian oh what's it was the sterling silver maker oh this famous
sterling silver maker so they put the lobster in this mechanism yeah and then
they crank it at your table right with a cup a bowl like the beast and then you
get the best and then they add the broth.
And it is the most fabulous soup I've ever had in my life.
But all the dishes they serve are just incredible and so unique.
And I just, I love it.
And a lot of it has a little bit of that flair because, you know, he's British.
So he brings that into his food as well. And it's just fantastic. of it has a little bit of that that flair because you know he's British so
he brings that into his food as well and it's just fantastic. Oh where are you
looking forward to eating in London? Do you know any spots? Do we need to take
you out? I would love so I have so many friends in London they're always
recommending places but from the official foodies I would love to know
where I need to go. Okay fine well I've got we've got you. Please send me a list.
I've got a feeling it's going to be the standard. It might be the we've got you covered. I've got to send me a list.
It might be the standard. I feel like it might.
I think it is the standard because it's quite fun.
I think it might be.
Is your husband coming with you? Yeah, of course.
And the baby? Probably not. I don't know yet.
Because I don't want him sitting in the hotel all day because I'm doing press.
Who's going to look after him?
My parents. My parents come and so they save the house.
Oh, sweet. So it makes it so much easier.
It's tough.
I've got three kids here at the moment and they've gone to ball and bounce.
Oh, yes, yes, yes.
I was like, get out.
Christine, wait, it's coming.
They'll be back in a minute.
Oh, my God, no, they wouldn't have bothered me at all.
I would have loved that.
It's tough working and trying to work.
And also, you don't want them to be stuck in a hotel.
I know.
I know.
That's why I'm very particular when we do travel and um I say okay do I have time do I have enough time to dedicate to
him and usually my travel is only a few days but for this London trip it's gonna be you know it's
gonna be longer because I want to spend time um you know first of all I want to see Phil and Holly
when I'm there um my icons I love them who still in holly this morning this morning
are you getting you are you going on it yeah i've already i've been with them many times
and in studio we've been on it once i love them they're the best that is so brilliant christine
so this trip might be a little bit longer in which i'll just leave them with my parents
and that way i feel comfortable and safe so um can I ask you, what is a nostalgic taste for you
that kind of can take you back to somewhere?
A nostalgic taste for me that can take me back to somewhere
would definitely be Italy.
And I remember I never had proper pasta you know and that was the
first time I remember I remember my husband and I went to this hole in the wall because everything
else was closed and we were trying to get in all these five-star restaurants so everything was
closed and we ended up with this like just hole in the wall and we had the best time ever and
like just hole in the wall and we had the best time ever and the food was authentic homemade pasta the best pizza i've ever had in my life to this day i don't remember the name of it but that
would you be able to find it it was in the in the amalfi coast somewhere but it was incredible
smell of pasta cooking with it's basil, basil as you call it.
Yes.
And it's the oven cooked pizzas that are just like so aromatic, you know, while you're just
waiting for your food salivating.
And then, you know, also I remember the bubbly, what are those orange drinks?
Aperol Spritz.
Yeah.
We were doing those a lot.
Did they not get popular in Los Angeles?
Because in London, in the UK, they were like the thing.
Oh, they were serving them at Angelina's the other night.
They are the thing here.
It went Aperol Spritz.
Then everyone's obsessed with espresso martinis.
I can't do that.
Not at night.
No, not at night.
Can I ask you?
Of course.
You clearly dress beautifully thank you first
of all there's two things i want to ask what height are you i i am five nine five ten and
when you wear those heels you must be you must tower over all these people that's why these oh
i'm sorry i'm wearing shoes in your house no I never wear shoes in my house I'm so rude sorry
but um wow this is low these ones are low for god's sake these are these are actually my my
shoe dazzle collection I have a collection right now that just came out with shoe dazzle
so I designed all these there we go yeah they're great yeah so those are they comfy they're very
I can't even walk with that amount of heel but I made I wanted to make flats uh so I
have quite um a range of amazing flats I wanted to make boots I wanted to make low heels and then
you know like proper heels which is your most successful outfit for selling houses
my success do you go low you have a power outfit do you have a power outfit and the neckline
i'm interested in definitely very low i feel like you're really objectifying no no not at all
jesse she objectifies herself on the thing i do that plenty on my own no no no no i'm just thinking
about your outfits because they're very important yes and i wonder if they're integral to your selling power yeah so for me it is
definitely a black blazer and then for the neckline I really don't care I feel like people
you know they see me on the show you know with with short skirts and whatever like they don't
care they know so I I like a good you know v-neck not v-neck line you know or a tank top or
something underneath but just with a power blazer
yeah and then a skinny jean and a heel like a pump and it just really makes me feel incredible
it really makes me feel so good but i found that i was list i was dressing so for so many years the
way that i thought that people wanted me to dress and then once i said you know what i don't want to
conform anymore i started dressing like my authentic self. That's when people really started resonating with me and
really being like, oh, okay, like you're smart. And you like you look at me like, whatever,
who cares what you wear, you know, and I think that's what so many women are afraid to do.
They're so afraid. I want to it's this fine line, I want to be treated like a professional,
but I want to wear what I want. And I think you can do both.
line. I want to be treated like a professional, but I want to wear what I want. And I think you can do both. Is there a kind of code? Like when you go to your real estate exams, do they say,
look, I think if you dress like this, is there kind of a code in the background?
Not really, but there's this overall theme that, you know, when you think of real estate agent,
you think of, you know, those cheesy bench ads, you know, where they're wearing like the
navy blue blazers and
the trousers and I feel like that's the uniform that people have gotten used to but I don't think
you can wear whatever you want you know it's just all about how you do business and how you're
professional and is it important to have diversity absolutely because you've got such a diverse
population in LA absolutely yeah I mean I've heard radio ads for people. We speak Spanish only,
or we can speak this language to encourage people to come to them. Absolutely. So my associate,
um, that I work with, his name is Omar and, um, we work together on a lot of deals. He's not,
he's a part of the office, but he's not on the show. You'll never see him. Um, but we have a
lot of agents that actually do work in the office so he is my right hand i
don't like to call him my assistant because that's not we're partners you know so he's talking about
your real open here uh well originally well both actually now but has he moved with you uh
we're talking about it yeah i want to know who you're going to be employing in your place.
Are they all going to be doppelgangers of you?
Or are you going to go for cute little short guys like Jason?
No, gosh no.
But the important thing is, in terms of diversity,
my associate speaks French, he speaks Arabic,
he speaks German, and he speaks English. So he is incredible when it
comes to, you know, making sales. But for my own brokerage, you know, I want to specialize in women,
but also I want men to work there too as well. You know, I want to welcome everyone, you know,
but I want women to have a place where they feel empowered, where they feel safe, where they don't have to, um, you know, be intimidated and work for a man
and be afraid to ask and speak up. And I don't want that environment at all. So I welcome women
to come and work for me, you know, please, please reach out, you know, I'm hiring and I would love
for anyone who hears this to be, to be able to work with me. Do you and Mary make friends again?
You know, unfortunately, it makes me sad because i really felt like when you the when we first saw you you were old friends you used to live together like i understood that relationship
have you fallen out oh it's a long story um what really happened was the short the short of it is, is, you know, I wasn't a priority in Mary anymore.
You know, Chrishell came in and Chrishell had star power.
We were new.
We weren't famous.
We weren't celebrities back then.
I don't even call myself a celebrity now.
But, you know, we didn't have that star power back then.
So Chrishell came in and her husband at the time was already, you know, famous.
Justin Hartley.
This is us yeah so
you know she kind of you know gravitated over to chrishell because she said oh look at what she can
do for me her husband you know and they started hanging out and doing double dates and that's when
you know she just kind of just left me in the dark and we weren't really friends anymore and
she was prioritizing you know um being friends and
what they can do for her over her real friends so that was when I I first you know kind of was like
wow that that really hurts and that was hurtful but I would love to have a conversation with her
I'm I'm definitely open to it and I feel like you know so much time has gone by we don't really have
any issues the only issue was she started hanging out with Chrishell and then Chrishell doesn't like me so in turn turned Mary
against me but um it is what it is I just one day I hope we can be friends again yeah it was just
it was interesting because yes they they portray you in a certain way on the show which is highly
entertaining and you and you are you you play with that and I and I
respect that it's it's entertaining tv but it felt very uh real that the heartbreak that you
you know so many women and men have you watched every single episode yes okay yes I watched two
yesterday because I've never watched um but like you you know, I think everyone's had a heartbreak with a friendship.
Yeah.
And I think that was really interesting to watch because, yeah, we've all broken up with girlfriends or boyfriends.
But you pine for each other.
And I can see that.
But is there loads of drama in this new series?
There is some stuff with Amanza.
Is there loads of drama in this new series?
There's,
there is some stuff with Amanza,
but,
um,
you know,
at the end of the day,
I,
I, it doesn't come from like,
Amanza and I have a great relationship.
It just comes from the other girls talking in our ear.
But that's the thing I think they need to stop now.
It's becoming so playground.
I know.
It needs to be about you being brilliant at your jobs.
I know.
And doing these amazing things.
Jessie,
do you want to speak to the director?
Yeah,
I will.
I'll have a word.
I'll have a word. Please. Because I did think I did think it got it it was getting a bit embarrassing I mean
it's bitchy but it wasn't it was it was not nice watching you felt like you were privy to something
you were kind of enabling this horrible and you know that was the primary that was the primary
feedback in season four people said so you have to understand i um we shot
um season four in one month because we were on such a tight deadline so in one month i was what
everything that you're seeing in season four i was pregnant uh my water broke went into an
emergency c-section had my baby it was quite a challenge I mean a terrifying birth
terrifying a week later c-section oh emergency c-section why because uh my water broke so I was
back to work a week later a week after having a c-section did you feel pressure to do that
because of the tv show yeah they were definitely there was definitely pressure yeah of course they
wanted me back and they because they know that there's no pressure yeah of course they wanted me back and
they because they know that there's no drama there's no show without me and I was their
punching bag could they not have delayed filming no no we were on a tight deadline to turn things
around but you know it was the production company that was really trying to to get you an exhausted
new mom and then I don't even know how you walked and then having had this oh I had my diapers on
I had diapers on you know I still had my diapers on I had diapers on
you know I still had my diapers on
and stuff
you know moms know how to
it's like I you know
I still had all that stuff going on
but then you know
I thought I would come back to work
and they would at least give me a break
and I was just a punching bag
after punching bag
after punching bag
and it was just like
going through postpartum depression
was horrible
and then the new season
you know I love Chelsea
and you know
a fellow Brit like you guys are gonna love Chelsea and, you know, a fellow Brit.
Like, you guys are going to love her.
And she stands up for me.
And there's this situation where the girls are just going off about silly, the silliest things.
She's like, this is bullying.
This is bullying.
Like, and she stood up for me.
And I was so shocked.
No one's ever stood up for me.
She's like, I have to call this out because like I've never seen anything like in my life.
Like seven women against one woman who literally just had a baby and didn't do anything wrong.
And you're bringing up old stuff.
Like this is bullying.
So I loved when she said that.
And I just love having her in my court because it just, you're right.
The show, it just, it was bullying.
It was constant bullying.
because it just you're right the show it just it was bullying it was constant bullying it's hard isn't it because even though you are such a powerful brilliant workhorse inspiration to many
women and the fact that you you get your job done you do it well I mean you look fantastic and but
there must have been immense pressure to look incredible postpartum. You were saying you're suffering with postpartum depression.
You're then being put, I mean,
were you able to have discussions
with the production company this time round?
Oh no, because you filmed the next series.
So it's just like.
Yeah, exactly.
When you look back at those shows,
do you just think maybe that wasn't the best idea?
Maybe I should have taken time out
of the show or was it just never a discussion well that's not a criticism yeah it's just you
run the contract jesse i think it's quite different yeah yeah you don't have a choice i i didn't have
a choice um but you know but they knew you were pregnant they knew i was pregnant and, you know, they insinuated a maternity leave in the show.
But in real life, I wasn't actually offered that.
You know, I don't get paid if I don't go to work.
Did you manage to nurse the baby?
I had to do it for only a week because I had to get back to work.
And then I was pumping on the side when I could.
But, you know, that was it.
Yeah, and it was so difficult.
It was really difficult.
I'm sorry.
It was about your hormones.
Were you kind of ready to cry all the time?
Oh, have you seen the show?
I cry all the time.
And I still do today.
Like, it's crazy.
Like, I can cry on a dime.
Some things just make me, like, I see things and I'm like, ah.
I think that's one thing that never changes after you're pregnant I don't know the hormones just are still there but um but yeah it
was just it was it was extremely extremely when are you having your next baby hopefully very soon
hopefully very very soon I would like to yeah I would really like to oh Christine it's been a real
pleasure to chat to you I didn't know what to expect but I just think you're fabulous and I
think you're incredibly charismatic and it makes total sense that people think you're so brilliant
you're definitely not a bitch oh thank you she's a boss bitch i love that thank you so much thank
you for doing this honestly i'm honored to be here like i i'm this was so fun i i get to come
here like talk about food i'm so sorry we didn't really cook for you no no no no please please don't ever apologize you've got a yeasty boys bagel to do and we can we can fight talking
about food just makes me horny in and out of itself so thank you for that i really appreciate that well jess i've met my first boss bitch oh please you met yourself mom a long time ago
um christine what a lovely lovely girl sweet i mean mean, she's charismatic. Sweet nature.
Sweet.
That Texan southern hospitality.
She was an hour late,
but she did acknowledge that it was her fault
and nobody else's,
which I, you know, I appreciate her for.
And she was just so sweet.
Really, really delightful.
I'm rooting for her in the new series, I have to say. liked her she's taking a little takeaway bagel who knows if she's
gonna eat it but she's just pro like that yeah and you've now got a telephone
number yeah I love how enthusiastic she is about going on this morning too yeah
I wonder how it works paying for your house in crypto coins yeah oh it's
fascinating and we've now got more noise.
Is that mowing?
Yeah.
So we're going to sign off now because somebody,
our neighbour has started his mowing.
His trimming, yeah.
Thank you to Christine Quinn for coming on Table Manners
and being such a good sport.
Thank you to everyone that's listened to this LA series.
We've had some really interesting guests.
Yeah, it's been big.
It's been fascinating.
It's been eventful.
It's been full of publicists dicking us about.
Anyway, thank you to all our guests
that came on this series.
And we can't wait to do it again.
Maybe, where's our next destination?
Nashville.
Oh, no, Mum, I think Sydney.
I think we're going down under.
We're going down under.
I want to.
I really want to.
Okay, darling.
We will see you next week for another Table Manners
that is back on blighty soil.
Without the sunshine. Bye.
