Hi, it's Terry O'Reilly, host of Under the Influence.
Recently, we created an episode on cannabis marketing.
With cannabis legalization, it's a brand new challenging marketing category.
And I want to let you know we've produced a special bonus podcast episode
where I talk to an actual cannabis producer.
I wanted to know how a producer becomes licensed,
how a cannabis company competes
with big corporations, how a cannabis company markets its products in such a highly regulated
category, and what the term dignified consumption actually means. I think you'll find the answers
interesting and surprising. Hear it now on Under the Influence with Terry O'Reilly.
This bonus episode is brought to you by the Ontario Cannabis Store and ACAS Creative. Hello and welcome to the Taskmaster podcast with me, Ed Gamble.
Very nice to have you here on the Taskmaster podcast again.
We're of course talking about Series 13, its brand new Taskmaster episodes,
coming at you every Thursday,pm Channel 4 and today we'll
be talking about Series 13 Episode 3. Very exciting, we're all loving the series so far,
it's another excellent episode. We will be talking about Series 13 Episode 3 with the
wonderful Lou Sanders. Lou Sanders of course, champion of Taskmaster Series 8 and now a welcome member of the Taskmaster Podcast Cinematic Universe.

oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear i the thing is the thing is about me is i just love talking to
like real people yes yeah i've always known that about you lou yeah as soon as it was
announced that lou signers will be hosting the taskmaster the people's podcast um speaking to
real taskmaster fans about how taskmaster influences their lives i thought lose the
perfect the perfect girl for the job because she's so she's so in contact with the real people.
I know how much a pint of milk is, for example.
Go on.
Well, I only buy oatmeal.
But it varies from £1.70 if you get a deal in Waitrose
or to about, you can pay up to £2.80.
It's mad, actually. So when you say you know the price of a pint of milk, you know the price to £2.80. It's mad, actually.
So when you say you know the price of a pint of milk,
you know the price of oat milk in Waitrose.
Yeah, I'm not buying the devil's milk.
I'm not buying, you know, cow diseased milk.
What was it someone called it once?
Really good.
If I could remember, that'd be great.
Yeah, oh, that would have been so good.
Maybe if you can remember later, we can edit it in for you.
Slot it in.
Yeah, that'd be good. How are you? I can remember later, we can edit it in for you. Slot it in. Yeah, that would be good.
How are you?
I'm all right, thanks.
You're all right, yeah.
I've sort of just finished a big leg of my tour,
so I feel a bit like a husk,
like someone sucked all the meat out of me
and I'm just a big skin suit.
But apart from that, I'm pretty good, Lou.
Oh, God.
Oh, it's tireless, isn't it?
But do you want to know something quite good
for the next leg of your tour?
I can't wait.
Well, I was really tired with me touring as well in a lot of smaller rooms.
And it's actually harder for me.
It doesn't make a difference to the tiredness, I will say that.
It's not like you have to walk around each seat.
Well, no.
Yeah, but I don't have a tour manager i'm very humble actually i was on them a train
like one of the little trains not even a big one uh going to liverpool like one of the local
village trains with a carrier bag and uh and an old rucksack like a lady like a lady who's lost
her mind yeah and i got on the train and uh there's this mom looking at me like
like I can't really I know this is a book up but she's like you describe what I'm doing
you're sort of opening your mouth and then yeah you're sort of doing all the emojis at once I'd
say yeah yeah yeah and then they said oh we're coming to your show tonight in Liverpool and
then they looked me up and down with my carry bag and they were just like are you just on your own yeah just on my own
and they couldn't quite believe it and then um anyway it's a different style but the point is
I was very tired from all the gigging and then I told myself I'm not going to be tired because I
had to drive three hours to a gig and I repeated the mantra, I'm energised by my work.
I'm serious.
I'm serious.
I said, I'm energised by my work loads of times and you won't believe what a lift.
I felt sensational for the next two days.
Yeah.
Okay.
But at what point do you think I'm going to start repeating a mantra?
It's simply not going to happen.
Okay.
Well, it's on you that your dog tired then and also i've done that i've done the big
bit of work that's the thing and it did energize me but now it's been taken away yeah well just
just ended uh and i do have some other work to do now okay namely this this is the work
oh you're not in it you say i'm energized by my podcast i'm energized by my podcast you've
got it you've got to say it with a bit more conviction but i'll leave it with you anyway
it does work so the joke's on you if you don't get it good i'll think it can i think it can i
think a mantra you can i do think you need to get it out to the universe and say it out a couple of times but you know you do you babe well i think what we should get out there and into the universe is that you are doing another
taskmaster podcast which i've listened to and i enjoyed very much uh and i'm excited that it
exists it exists taskmaster the people's podcast tell us a little bit about that please yeah and
can i just say that we're not, you know,
because we tweeted, I tweeted about it and you tweeted
and people thought we were serious and we had serious beef
because people are dumb.
Lou, these are the real people that you're going to speak to.
Oh, yeah.
No, I don't mean that.
I just mean, of course, there's no big,
of course, there's room for another Taskmaster podcast.
And you don't give a doody.
You know, I just want people to know that you don't give a doody.
I don't give a doody.
No.
Say it with me.
Whatever that is.
I've never said that.
That's a mantra that I'd love to repeat.
I don't give a doody.
I don't give a doody.
I don't give a doody.
Anyway, the Taskmaster People's Podcast, I guess that's what we're here for yeah you it is a lovely podcast say it with me
it's getting in touch with people that have done stuff like you know the fans
really like taskmaster and who can blame them so you know they'll the this american lady we
uh spoke to she was very good value she had had come all the way from like New York to the taskmaster meetup with a
load of pies.
And she'd been in the British library,
like doing the tasks and stuff.
Another guy,
he'd done all the tasks in the book.
And admittedly,
you know,
he,
he was having a breakdown at the time,
but his,
his thoughts,
not mine,
but it really helped him through and he
yeah it was just like just people doing i enjoyed you talking to the lady who puts tasks in her
little son's lunchbox for him every day i thought that was very sweet that's the vibe of the podcast
it it really it's nice it sums up that there's a community out there. Yes.
And we can hear from that community
and I enjoyed it very much.
You are, of course, joined every week by Jack Bernhardt,
who's been on this podcast numerous times,
Statsman Jack, who is brilliant and does a lot of work
and spends quite, he's one of those fans really, isn't he?
Yeah, yeah.
He's crossed over the line, which is every fan's dream.
I'm joking. Jackie B, that's what i call him and yes that's nice oh i love being joined by him
because we're we're very different so we bring a different thing and the stats are really
interesting i never thought i'd enjoy stats so much but it's but here we are but here we are
and it's nice to have a framework to put stuff in
numbers, give them to me
watch your phone number etc
I'll be the cheeky one
We should start talking
Lou about series 13, Episode 3.
Are you enjoying Series 13 so far, Lou Lee?
Yes.
Hell yes.
Do you have any standout contestants, any standout moments so far?
Bearing in mind, I know what your short-term memory is like, Lou,
so don't worry if you can't pick up any particular moments.
Well, look, I mean
Judy Love hilarious, Bridget Christie hilarious
they're all very funny
but my god, whoever
thought the Geordie would be so good?
Do you know what I mean?
Chris has had a start to the series
which I think is comparable probably to your start
to your series where he's just absolutely come out of the traps and everyone's gone oh no they're sort of made for
it yeah he's very clever you see him doing you know doing his bits and you don't know what a
powerful brain is behind them sure sure but that's the thing about about stand-up comics in general i
hate to toot our own horns is that um that you can see someone doing material and you the best ones you don't see the
work that's gone into it there's a there's a big powerful brain at work there yeah yeah and chris
is doing a great job like um my friend ray comes across as quite dozy because he's australian not
his fault you know it's just an accident yeah but sometimes when he talks about things i'm like oh god he's like you know he's actually
got something up there it's terrible really i mean i think you've picked the worst example
possible there i've met ronnie genuinely is quite dozy yeah but sometimes he talks about um
race or something which he would never talk about on
stage he talks about biscuits on stage do you know what i mean and then and then you get him
talking about race or something and you're like oh this is interesting but he just chooses not to
talk about that on stage anyway interesting but yeah i mean i'm not i'm not saying chris
comes across as dense not not one bit but i just mean he's got a very powerful brain which
you know he chooses to coat in that accent
again that's a joke don't cancel me obviously that's a joke no but he's brilliant i think of
i think he'll win the series that's your prediction is it yeah i tried to put a bet on betfair um but they won't take that because it's pre-recorded
it's pre-recorded and you have a legitimate link to possibly just being able to watch all of them
yeah you work for you basically work for the production company at this point so you can't
go but did you genuinely try and put a bet on for Crystal Winsor's Mazda? Well, I find Betfair's website very tricky, so I asked Luke to,
and he said, I don't think you can do that.
So, yeah.
I get other people to place my bets.
What an insight.
So, let's talk about this episode.
The prize task, the item that sounds funniest over and over again.
It's a good prize task and a tricky
one i thought it's tricky because it's obviously everyone thinks different things are funny you
then actually have there's a performative element to it and then also um it's quite easy to fall
into a cheesy joke territory as as a couple of people did here i think and can we talk about bridget christie
mountain greg and how great it was yeah i mean we can talk about her first if you want uh bridget's
uh bridget's um thing that she brought in was a stopcock um as greg uh says finally uh stopcock
on a on a channel four quiz show as a prize i mean incredible uh that she she really went for it this is what
this task was about because obviously just saying stop cock stop cock stop cock yeah quite funny but
you're only really going to be able to sell it if it's sheer force of will yeah crawls over to him
mounts him straight away this is episode three and she's already mounting him yeah i loved it
i absolutely loved it and then uh someone had to break the tension in the room. Lovely, lovely, lovely.
That feels like something you might have pulled out the bag, Lou.
Just really pushing it.
Yeah, physically threatening.
You know, that's kind of my vibe.
How many points?
Yeah, I mean, Bridget is absolutely marching to the beat of her own drum on the show already.
She's bringing Bridget Christie. That's what we hope for, right? Yeah, yeah mean, Bridget is absolutely marching to the beat of her own drum on the show already. She's bringing Bridget Christie.
That's what we hope for, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She's very charming and she is quite alarming sometimes in a very charming way.
Oh my God, that's such a good way of putting it.
It's when she's alarmed or she does everything in her own sort of style.
And, you know, it's lovely to watch.
And you never know what she's going to find funny or what she's going to be surprised by because quite often everyone will be laughing
at something they'll cut to bridget and she'll just look absolutely horrified yeah yeah yeah
yeah and sometimes she'll tell greg off well you're not expecting it and he's not really used
to that but she just marches to her own drum is a good thing of it because she'll just like tell
him off and then he'll look scared yeah genuinely scared and but they i think they click quite nicely you can tell they
they've known each other for a while yeah they will like when she starts he'll start immediately
and mirror what she's doing and it is it's quite lovely to watch stopcock i thought was a good
solid choice but it was the it was the way she presented it and the way she forced it upon sir
greg's yeah mind and lap uh that that
made it get the four points oh and then ardlo was like uh should we just clear the air by um
repeating my one bubbles can i just check you just called him ardlo there do you think his
name's ardlo new word oh i've come across this in my podcast do you think his name is ardlo
no his middle name is oh
surname ohanlon yes yes yes oh this came up you think i'd learn ardle but the problem is for me with his
name and it's no shade to him i've been calling him arlo for about 15 years so it's very hard to
change it now very hard to shake it off isn't it oh what lovely doesn't that name and i might have
said this on my podcast when someone picked me up on the name ardle it really looks say it ardle yeah no i i mean i know this is for you the first
time you're saying it yeah some of us have been saying this for upwards of 20 years yeah yeah but
ardle it just suits him because it it feels like you're cradling with him. You want to cradle him like a baby.
And the name Ardell feels like you're cradling him.
Yeah.
I mean, I feel like we have different reactions to Ardell.
I want to hang out with Ardell.
I want to pop some shorts on.
I want to go wading in a river.
I want to go and do traditional sort of boys things from a Nina Blyton book.
And do you want to cradle him?
Well, I think it would be weird
because we've never met.
So if we met and I started to cradle him,
you know, a few questions would pop up in his mind.
I don't think they would.
I think he'd melt into the cradle.
I think he'd be fine with that.
He's a very, very lovely man.
But don't rule me out of the activities
because my pet peeve is when girls get phoned up
for the emotional problems
and they don't get to go, you know, chucking a spear
or whatever you boys are up to.
We are up to that, of course.
Let's talk about what Ardlow brought in.
Bubbles.
Bubbles.
And I think it deserved more because he didn't sell it as hard as Bridget,
but I think it was a good thing to pick.
He thought through that it could mean very different things depending on how you said it
and i just like to hear ardle say bubbles over and over again for the rest of my life really
yeah yeah well you'll get that maybe on your fishing trip you know let's talk about chris
ramsey's kook boog um that's good chris has brought he's i mean look i i've known chris for many many
years um and i know that he would absolutely hate anyone else doing a terrible joke about his
accent like that a kookbook joke so what he's done here is he's really shown his dedication
to taskmaster because he has hoard his credibility within his own part of the country within his own
community for points and said kookbookook and he's done it and it
deserves the three points and i respect what he's done i respect it and it is funny when he says it
yeah yeah it just is funny i'm sorry i'm sorry to the i'm sorry to the liverpudlians that was a joke
it just is funny then what else did we have
we had
Sophie
brought in
the pheasant pluckers
I was surprised
that it even got two
to be honest
I don't think she was proud of it
I think the groan
said it all
in this
and actually
it's very difficult
to get a groan
in the Taskmaster studio
because they're all so excited
to be there
to actually get a groan
is incredible
and I think she panicked about this I might have done the same because i think you need
the courage of your conviction to be like something like bubbles or pickles and just really push it
whereas obviously sophie's gone down the route of it you know if you get it mixed up it sounds rude
yeah but she's young you know time to learn she's got time to learn she's great
we're huge fans of sophie but this was not a shining a shining moment and and you know we've
all been there my god i think i got one for a prize task one oh yeah i'm pretty sure i did i i
think a lot of my prize tasks it's that awful feeling because it's the start of an episode as
well and a new audience and you want to impress them and then it comes to yours and it just feels like a
bit of a letdown and it's it wounds you it wounds you it wounds you i'm still carrying mine around
oh well let's the wound yes uh let's talk about judy loves pickles um this i think this sums up
judy's efforts on taskmaster sometimes that i don't think it's necessarily the best idea to start with on paper.
And then she pushes it through just, again, sheer force of will like Bridget.
And she's so funny.
She's so funny in the moment.
She will squeeze every single laugh out of everything possible.
Yeah.
And she does these looks as well.
And she's like this.
So, yeah, she is so funny i love i look you just love watching her don't you because she's just like also there's a slight
unhinged element um she's unpredictable yeah and that's what i find most funny because
well you don't know where they're going i love that actually yeah yeah she's so funny and like yeah
just i think it's the unpredictability and just you know you're you've got a safe pair of hands
like every time they throw to judy or if some judy's that does something i know there's going
to be a big laugh because she's just always on sometimes you can't tell if she really is pissed
off or she's just growing up because she's looking she does the she does this thing with her eyes
which is so funny and you don't know but you don't know if she's like really does the she does this thing with her eyes which is so funny and you
don't know but you don't know if she's like really pissed off or not i don't think she is i don't
think she cares that much no because every time greg pushes it sometimes and i'm like whoa hang
on i don't think she's that happy and then it'll cut back to her and she's laughing and you're like
yeah yeah yeah yeah the good thing about her is she doesn't take it seriously at all i mean i like
when people she tries but i do like when people try but she's like you just think she knows she's not going to get first place and she doesn't really
care and she's just queen she's queen bullshit the queen's bullshit um she's absolutely amazing
all right greg points i'm sorry pleasant fucker didn't do it for me pleasant fucker come on Come on. LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE Oh!
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
She got me. She got me.
She got me.
She got me good.
I'm going to have to take her up from bottom place.
Wow!
I'm going to give Sophie two points. Yes. Yes.
I'm going to give Coot, Booker and Bubbles three points each.
OK, so, joint third, we have Ardal and Chris.
Pickles got me straight away,
but now I feel I was battered down by Stopcock.
Well...
Four points to Stopcock.
Pickles was a pure attempt.
She takes the five.
Four points to Judy.
You're off.
Task one, accurately and emotionally recreate
a great moment from history using these two traffic cones.
Most accurate and emotional recreation wins.
You've got 30 minutes. Your starts now good task yeah great how cute was ardle thank you when he
when he about his little war scene he's so cute it was it was chaos it was very cute it was just
like a little boy running around yeah it was like they'd left a camera in a little boy's room and he was just doing yeah you know playing which is partly why
Lou I love Ardell and I I did enjoy this effort I can't believe it got four points I thought the
whole thing was chaos I think he set the thing up and then he hadn't planned anything after that
and just started smashing everything up people love passion people love passion and, you're seeing him in a different guise.
You know, usually he's quite laid back and stuff.
He's in a sling, but now it's a different sling.
Maybe it's just a personal thing.
I think because he hadn't planned anything up until the point he'd made it all
and he just smashed everything up, it didn't, to me, sing a four-pointer.
No, I think maybe, yeah yeah maybe you're two you're three
you're three but then against everything else and yeah I do yeah you're right actually maybe
it's two and a half points for him you can't do half points it was wonderful to watch but I think
in terms of planning and things like that I think look I've got a real bugbear in this task because
I thought Chris's was absolutely brilliant and I think it was really underscored i thought it was a really
simple clean fun idea wait a sec what did he do again he'd uh chris did the cloning of dolly the
sheep where he had he had a cone covered in covered in cotton wool and then he just lifted
up and there was another one underneath and i thought i thought that was brilliant the only
thing was it was most accurate and emotional and the way he got the
emotion was just making the scientist cry at the end which is probably tagged on a little bit
but i thought just the clarity and the simple uh the simple idea of pulling that cone up and
there was another one underneath deserved at least one more point you're an ideas man
you're an ideas guy i love an idea you're an ideas man. You're an ideas guy. I love an idea. You're a leg man, an ideas guy.
That's not true.
Well, I mean, I love when he did that
and then Ardell said,
what did Ardell say when he said something like,
oh, I thought Dolly the sheep had a head
or something like that.
Yeah, but this is like,
I got a couple of tweets last week saying
because i said that ardle's being nitpicky and a couple of people said oh no but he was only being
nitpicky um to make a joke there was like a pun in there can we now agree that ardle is nitpicking
everything regardless of whether he's got a joke or not and it's very funny but he is nitpicking
everything well i did really like it when what was the one he did when he said oh that's um
ah in the history was this in the same episode he said um oh can i just say that's lovely and
you thought he was going to compliment it and he goes yeah that's a lovely bit of pre-history and
it just made me laugh so much because of his delivery i think yeah he is he's loving absolutely
chipping away at everyone's regardless regardless of how quality his is.
Quite often he's got a terrible one
and he's just going to try and take everyone down with him.
Because he's quite sweet.
It's just a nice little side to him.
Oh, it's great.
I love it.
So I think,
I feel like Chris was underscored personally.
I feel like Judy's probably got the right amount of points,
which was one.
Judy did the creation of the pyramids
she was really annoyed and i'm glad this has come up actually in the studio now because it's been a
discussion behind the scenes and on the podcast for a long time she's confronted the sfx issue
that some people get uh some people get special effects and some people get editing and
some people absolutely don't but you do have to ask for them yeah if you've not seen the show
before you don't know that that's an option so judy just literally like put some sand around
the cones and then went the pyramids and she was wearing like a cheap crown you've got to dare to
dream you know and also if you've seen the show, you know, it's a metaphor for life, Ed.
You've got to ask for stuff.
You've got to dream.
You've got to envision.
Yes, true.
But if there's anyone who I wanted to absolutely not get the special effects,
it's Judy, because I want to see her argue that to the hilt.
Yeah.
Yeah, Sophie had quite a lot of special effects in her dinosaur extinction
of course ardle pointed out that it's technically prehistoric i feel like as that um definition was
made before we saw any of the tasks do you think that should have taken any points away from sophie
that it was no no because she put some thought in, you know.
I mean, and also it is still history.
I don't really care.
But it's not under the definition of history.
History is recorded, right?
That wasn't recorded anymore.
Oh, yeah, but it's...
So is that a moment in history?
Oh, God, I don't think you can get way...
It happened in the past.
That's all I care about.
You know, Greg didn't even know what history greg didn't even know what history was that was a chance meeting to of the of the
verb is it no no what is it a noun you see i don't want to get bogged down in details
no i can see that no that's okay that's enough. I think it may have been mean to take points off her.
But she nailed the emotional aspect.
I found it quite upsetting that that little baby dinosaur was killed in the dinosaur extinction.
And poor baby dinosaur didn't know what was going on.
Yeah, I don't think she should have made them American because it disconnects you from the you know it's
it's like oh it happened you know far away you know you you want to see so you don't are you
telling me you can't emotionally connect with anything that has american people in films must
be an absolute nightmare for you yeah yeah well it's it's nice to disconnect when you watch a
film and not get into the drama, you know,
because you don't get upset, so yeah.
Because they're American and it doesn't matter.
Yeah, yeah.
Yes, okay, that's an interesting point, Lou.
I didn't find that personally, I found it quite upsetting.
I think it deserved one more point maybe
for the brilliant emotional heft which it carried.
Let's talk about Bridget's.
Bridget's got the five points and
this was genuinely moving I thought this might be one of the most beautiful
Taskmaster tasks ever conducted the like of the dog in the cone with the pan lid over the top
floating around in space just stunning the accent the backstory it was from a lower socioeconomic background
you know it had it all it was a movie and the name Laika not a mistake I would wager
you know not going to call it um big balls or something are you do you know what I mean
no I mean you know you do know it wasn't a mistake because that's what the dog was called
that they sent up into space in the moment in history.
Oh, no, I didn't know that.
Oh, no, I didn't know that.
No, I mean, so it was a moment in history, Lou. This was something that actually happened.
Oh, that's what the whole task was about.
Yes, it had to be.
Oh, gosh.
Oh, golly gosh, I've been had again.
This is why we're very good on our own separate podcasts.
I'm more of a facts man.
You're a facts guy.
I sort of watch the show, connect with what's going on.
And you're more of a people person, you know?
Yeah, I'm more get into the heart of it unless you're American.
Yeah, that's me.
Apart from the American lady we have got on the next episode,
who is absolutely fantastic.
You didn't feel disconnected
from her no oh no you know what you couldn't you couldn't if you tried she's wonderful lady
um so no this was the story of like of the dog lou that makes sense no you're right it would
have been weird if they'd called the dog big balls also i don't need the facts because i've
got old jackie b there so don't worry about that. Yeah, that's right. He's steering a
steady ship.
Yeah, I can see why you were so vocal during
the others. It's just, it's an
emotional thing for me, you know. If you say
to me as a black woman, tell us about your history.
I mean, dark road,
isn't it? Do you know who built the
pyramids? They didn't ask about that.
I'm just
saying you sort of glamorised slavery there.
You wanted emotion, right? Yeah.
And that... Those two cones up there... There we go.
..really demonstrated heartache, like Sophie's just said.
LAUGHTER
And the fact that my art draws the emotion after I've done it
with just simple sand...
..and a fucking crown...
What else do you need?
I'll tell you what you need. One point.
And you can thank me for it.
Fucking rubbish.
Hi, it's Terry O'Reilly, host of Under the Influence.
Recently, we created an episode on cannabis marketing.
With cannabis legalization,
it's a brand new challenging
marketing category.
And I want to let you know
we've produced a special
bonus podcast episode
where I talk to an actual
cannabis producer.
I wanted to know how a producer
becomes licensed,
how a cannabis company competes
with big corporations,
how a cannabis company markets
its products in such a highly regulated category,
and what the term
dignified consumption
actually means.
I think you'll find
the answers interesting
and surprising.
Hear it now
on Under the Influence
with Terry O'Reilly.
This bonus episode
is brought to you by
the Ontario Cannabis Store
and ACAS Creative.
We can wait for clean water solutions.
Or we can engineer access to clean water.
We can acknowledge Indigenous cultures.
Or we can learn from Indigenous voices.
We can demand more from the earth.
Or we can demand more from ourselves.
At York University, we work together to create positive change for a better tomorrow.
Join us at yorku. The robot must be walking. The marble must be rolling. The cradle must be clicking. The sand must be falling.
The fidget spinner must be spinning.
The candle must be out.
You must applaud when you think you've finished.
Fastest wins.
Time starts now.
Chris Ramsey straight away blowing the candles out.
Very good stuff.
Smart.
Very smart.
And let me tell you, Lou, as soon as I saw this,
I thought I would have loved to have seen Lou do this.
Do you know what?
I actually think I'd be quite good at that.
Not what I was thinking.
I actually think I would. Why do you think you'd be good at this because i would just take i would just have a 10 deep breaths uh channel buddha and just do it stage by stage i really do think i'd
be good at it especially i'll say this low i don't think buddha would be good at this no will you be surprised buddha can turn stuff on but also i i i think there might there may have been something going through my
mind that thought i'll be good at this now i've watched exactly what you do do you ever think
that oh all the time i mean i think that's that's what most people think when they're watching task
master at home they go well i'll be able to do that because i've seen some other people do it
and i know i know what i do now yeah i think i would have panicked i think i would have ended
up on the floor like ardle i think you'd be quite good no maybe you wouldn't i don't know
it depends what day it was i had some absolutely horrible howlers where i just i would panic and
start you know throwing stuff everywhere and there's a certain tipping point with me that
if i think it's not going to go well or i'm not going to if I don't think I'm going to get the best
and I'm going to get somewhere in the middle I would always think it's probably worth just
making it go terribly wrong and then yeah and coming bottom like at school when you wanted to
be either the tallest or the shortest but you were like I'm not interested in hanging around the middle do you ever I'm intrigued by this something that I say a catchphrase I say to my boyfriend
so at school you didn't want to be the tallest or the shortest no I wanted to be either the tallest
I wanted yeah I wanted to be one end of the line I I didn't want to be, like with everything, you want to be like the best or the worst.
It's like average is so boring.
Yeah.
That's the problem.
Yeah.
But I've come to sort of settle on it now as I get older.
I'd imagine you've come to realise that you can't decide what height you are.
Oh, no.
Oh, God.
No, no.
I hadn't clocked that
no i've realized it doesn't matter yes yeah that's true but i i understand the point that
yeah average is boring um but look everyone gives it a good go there's no one average here
i've got to say everyone has a bit of a disaster apart from Chris.
Chris is insane.
Two minutes, 57 seconds.
He's so competent.
Yeah, it's mad.
I mean, good on him.
I mean, good on the guy.
Bridget, I think this is very controversial.
I don't think Bridget should have got these points.
No, but they're flirting.
I think she got a flirt.
I think she got a flirt point. Because got a flirt point because I think she flirted flirted her way into it yeah I think you can't like she's so charming sometimes you're gonna give her a couple of extra points
and then sometimes you're gonna remember that you can't do that and say no but sometimes she's
gonna get the points and that's you know again a metaphor for life yeah i just don't think she did that i don't think she did the task i think i think it was fairly clear from the from
the playback i what i do think bridget deserved extra points for was under her breath at the
beginning of the task saying just imagine that if you don't do this someone will take your cat
yeah yeah yeah that was good but also if if you're parked illegally and you start shouting at the traffic warden,
they're not going to not give you a ticket.
But if you do a little joke with the traffic warden and say,
oh, you know, blah, blah, blah, they might not give you the ticket.
Right.
So Taskmaster is just teaching us about life.
It's just helping us out with traffic wardens.
Yeah, in a way.
If you interpret it like that.
Are we getting into
hot water if we say you know a woman got the points because she flirted you know well i didn't
say that so i'm not getting into hot water i would never say that i did and i stand by it
you know but you know i'm not not saying that you've got to use what you've got i'm not saying
i didn't get a few points you know i'm not saying that i've got to use what you've got. I'm not saying I didn't get a few points.
You know, I'm not saying that I didn't flirt with Greg, put it that way.
Okay.
Well, I did not flirt with Greg.
I tried to.
He didn't notice.
But yeah, I don't feel like Bridget should have got those points. And Ardell, Judy and Sophie all had an absolute meltdown.
Ardell ended up on the floor just kicking himself around just I think this is
where I would have ended up. I would have found that so frustrating. It's that feeling of you
think you've done it and then suddenly something like the candle relights or the thing hops up
again. I would have gone mad. Yeah I know. Do you know Sophie's very clever and quite methodical.
She is yeah she's methodical and smart.
So it's a surprise she had a bit of a meltdown on this one.
Yeah, I mean, she's treading on the monsters
to try and keep them squatting.
That was a good idea.
Yeah.
You can see them, like, they're slipping under her shoes.
I mean, the whole thing nearly gave me a panic attack,
to be honest.
It was so full on.
But watching Judy try and do this,
I thought they'd put the audio on a loop because she kept saying the same things she said i think i've got this so many times in exactly the
same way it was like they put the audio on a loop she goes how do you make a marble roll how do you
make a marble roll over and over again it's brilliant she just is short-circuited yeah she
literally short-circuited that's what it was short-circuited. That's what it was. Yeah.
Wow.
I wonder what Judy was like at school,
like handing in her homework and stuff.
I bet she got away with quite a lot.
I bet she didn't hand it in,
and then she managed to absolutely bullshit her way around it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, she's incredible.
It was zero points for Sophie, Judy and Ardell,
four points for Bridget controversially,
and five points for
the focused and competent geordie chris ramsey not actually a geordie we've said geordie a few
times he's not a geordie what is he he'll be writing in well he's from south shields isn't he
so is it a sand crab are they called something well let your voice know mate that's what i'd say
but um but um crid uh cridget bristie, Cridget Bristie, Cridget Bristie
should have got it's so great that we've got names for everyone now Lou that are gonna last for the
rest of the series we've got Ardlow, Ardlow Hanlon, Cridget Bristie. I think she should have got three
points because it was a bit unfair like she it was just a millise out. So I would have still given her three points to be fair.
No, it's four points or no points, I think.
And I think no points is the decision of the Taskmaster podcast.
You can have a different decision on the People's podcast, of course.
Well, the forums will be going crazy, I suppose.
Oh, damn me, those blooming forums.
Okay, I'm going to sit on these.
Right.
Squatting.
We have three squatters.
Three squatters.
Two squatters.
You stay or I'll smash you to pieces.
I've not got long left on the candles.
Out.
Flicking.
Spinning.
Rolling.
Stop the clock task three enable this was a weird one enable alex to bite his duck you may not encroach upon
the decking fastest wins also the person that gets alex the least wet gets a bonus point your time
starts now this is how did alex come up with this one do we think lou
well he might not have necessarily come up with it i think he comes up with most of them maybe the
duck did so you're saying rather than it being alex's fantasy to bite the duck whilst tied up
it might be the duck's fantasy to be bitten well not to victim blame but you know
you've got you've got to ask some questions haven't you um maybe tim came up with it
yeah i think tim's fairly open about the fact that he doesn't come up with any really
okay then yeah so alex came up with it and he got absolutely blasted for that. Yeah, he did. He did.
Well, well deserved.
But it's a weird task.
Seemingly quite easy, really.
It's the...
I thought it's a good task.
I think people, you know, didn't have to add a sexual element to a man being tied up biting a duck.
You know, it's like...
I don't know why.
Yeah, but even when you say a man tied up biting a duck what
i know that's the problem it's when you say it out loud you know
yeah but i've tied men up you know and got them to eat different things and it doesn't have to be
i said this to them at the time you you know. Anyway, I thought lovely task.
It was funny to ribbon to him though.
It was.
I mean, the clever thing about this task
was introducing the word wet into the task
means that suddenly you think,
oh, there has to be water.
You have to put water into the bucket
to bring the duck up.
Yeah.
Well, that's what the boys thought.
They were all easily led.
And then, of course, Judy, Sophie
and Bridget Bristie all used the net, always thought they were all easily led and then yeah and then of course judy judy sophie and uh
critic bristie um all used the net which was the simplest way to do it yeah and it's funny how men
are just so easily led isn't it yeah i mean and so easily led immediately in arnold's case who
simply got a pound of water and just threw it at a straight away. Yeah. Yeah. But I think he's probably thinking,
well,
I'm not going to win.
So I might as well have some fun.
Yeah.
I think that's where Adel's at already,
which is great.
Um,
and Chris,
of course also used water,
but it is very much in the winner's mindset because he's getting the,
the pipe and trying to get it down there.
Realizes there's a hole,
uh,
in the bucket,
a pipe going from the bucket directly into alex's
wellies which is a nasty trick to play and it's quite devastated that it doesn't go very well
um but yeah you can see even though they both use water they're taking they're bringing very
different energies to it yeah that is such a clever task to have that whole like yeah it's
misdirection baby it's misdirection baby and uh it's they must have been livid if
everyone used the net if everyone used the net i don't think that task would have been shown at all
um bridget did it in one minute one second which is pretty incredible uh bearing in mind bridget
does take her time sometimes with things she does things at her her own pace, Bridget. So she gets the five points
and she gets the bonus point for not getting Alex wet.
Sophie, two minutes, 13 seconds,
four points plus the bonus point, five points.
Judy, three points plus the bonus point, four points.
Ardell, two points.
And I've just written here,
my favourite thing in this entire task
was when Ardell throws the pan,
then he goes back to trying to get water into the bucket
and then just goes back to throwing the get water into the bucket and then just
goes back to throwing the pan again and says oh it's plan a again I'm afraid Alex that was plan a
plan a was hurling a pan of water at Alex and Chris an absolute disaster from Chris 15 minutes
and 38 seconds and oh he's not happy with himself so one point for Chris I feel Lou feel, Lou, that you would have been more of an ardour on this.
I feel like you would have thought,
come on, this is one of these ones where you just need to get chaotic
and soak Alex from head to toe whilst pissing yourself laughing.
No, I think I would have won this one.
Sometimes, Lou, I am fairly convinced that i know you better than yourself yeah i think
i actually think i would have won this one right how would you have done it would you
have gone straight for the net maybe i'll tell you in the people's podcast
yes tune into the people's how about you tell us now because this is what this podcast is oh
oh fine i would have got a hammer and chucked it in the bin
what would you have done i i i would like to think i would not be misled by the water but i feel like
i would have been giddy at the idea of being in a situation where I might
have to soak Alex so I might yeah yeah I think I think I probably would have gone yeah I think I
definitely would have gone actually to pour some water in the thing and then realized and then
moved to I wouldn't go back to the pan I wouldn't have our load
our load it our load but it's hard because I'm saying i'll i'll load it i'll load it
is that what you say yeah i'll load it who's arlo arlo i wouldn't have ardo load it oh that's you
wouldn't have ardled it it's not his name's not ardo loot oh god it's too late for me. It's too late for me.
I would have maybe tried to lasso the duck.
Or put a magnet on the duck.
This is clever.
Put a magnet on the duck, like a sticky magnet, with a fishing rod.
You touch it.
And then magnetized it the other end.
Okay.
How are you going to get a magnet how are you gonna get
a magnet on the duck please no no no no stop the clocks i've got it um you have a stick with a bit
of string on the end you know and then you put a like a thing with super glue on and then you lower
it onto the duck the duck super glues on and then you shove it in the gob of the assistant annex.
Now, how long does super glue take to dry?
Well, you know, it's not instant.
Okay, then Loctite, but other brands are available.
But yeah, something like that.
And then that's quite clever, actually.
Yeah, it's quite clever, actually.
That's what I would have done.
Well done, that's good. Five points.
Did you see how... He was really fighting against me.
Everybody else, you opened your mouth wide enough.
If you think of it on a scientific level, right?
Ah, good, at last.
Me and Sophie, look at the height difference.
How did she reach so far in for him to bite straight away?
That shows he wasn't biting
for me. I should be leaning
listen, isn't it? Look at the left.
Put your arm out, girl.
Look at that.
That's a scientific thing, you see.
Let's talk about
the live task.
As a team, put one of your faces and one of your
legs through the hole the taskmaster
will guess whether the face belongs to the leg or to the other contestant most wrong guesses after
three rounds wins a good fun live task i enjoyed it very much great task again and also i love that
greg is usually quite good at the live tasks he He is, yeah. But he got it all wrong. I couldn't believe it.
It was a hard one for him.
He couldn't work out what the ladies were up to
behind that little sheet, could he?
Beggar's belief, what those ladies are up to.
This is my problem I have quite a lot of the time.
I don't know what they're doing behind closed doors.
They were excellent at it.
They were very very very good uh
i would have liked to have seen actually behind there a little bit more um to have seen how they
were positioning themselves because it was very impressive um chris and ardle less good you've
got your producer's hat on there ed and i don't mind it producer's hat on thank you very much i'm
thinking about my future in the entertainment industry. This face is not going to be camera worthy for very much longer.
So it's good to get behind the old scenes.
Thank you.
So maybe a shot of what the ladies are doing behind the sheet.
Thank you.
Yeah, different entertainment business, but yeah.
Where's Ed?
Oh, he's gone into porn.
Yeah.
Face fell in on itself with all the diabetes.
Any choice he had.
Horrible puckered little face. now he's behind the camera watching all the porn um look chris and arnold not very good at it but they had a nice time i
love them as a team because they don't they didn't really know each other beforehand but
they just sort of slipped into this brother's dynamic which i really like yeah and the girls
are all very supportive apart from they don't feel like they
have to be.
And sometimes they're,
they're not.
And I think that's even better really.
Yes.
I see.
I see what you mean.
I really,
yeah,
I really like the girls team.
I think they're great.
And they're very good.
They're a very strong team.
In this scenario,
Lou,
would you have done this to the best of your ability or would you have,
would you have chosen the path of chaos?
As I think more than any comedian that I know,
you were always faced at that crossroads
and you're equally strong down both of the paths,
but you do have to make that choice every single time.
No, but with Taskmaster, I really wanted to win.
And so I was never really choosing chaos, I don't think, because I was choosing whatever got me to win and so I was never really choosing chaos I don't think because I was choosing whatever got
got me to win it unless it was already over the line and I've already lost it like we said but
you're also concerned about what what is the funniest so so for example say when you when
you had to sneak up on Alex um at the railway thing and you got inside that bin yeah it was
sort of a good idea,
but also you knew it would look absolutely insane.
No, because they're my colours.
Sorry, there's a third path.
I forgot fashion.
I went the path of fashion.
And I have always,
and I think you'll know this about me yeah got an eye on the fashion
yeah as have you yeah that's true yeah she's good the thing is about luli she's got a passion for
fashion she really has no points but my god she looked good they were so good at the live task i
love that live task yeah it was a lot of fun. The final scores of this episode.
Bridget takes it home, 25 points.
Sophie and Judy, joint second, 16 points.
Chris on 13 points and Ardal on 11 points.
A rare bottom half of the table for Chris there.
Are we seeing it slip now?
He's obviously had a very strong first two episodes.
Are we seeing the end of the reign of Ramsay?
Well, I'd need the whole stats across those three
to tell you the answer.
Well, can I tell you, Lou,
that Bridget's now in the lead in the series with 57 points.
Chris is on 54, Sophie's on 47,
Judy's on 40 and Ardable's on 36.
So Chris isn't leading the series
despite a very, very strong performance
in all of the tasks. But that's hard, isn't leading the series despite a very very strong performance in all of the tasks
but that's hard isn't it
and if you take away the four points
that we did think Bridget shouldn't
have got no shade we love Bridget
but what would the scores be then
Chris would be in the lead
you see it does matter sometimes
it does matter but it's all
arbitrary and people shouldn't get upset
on the forums because
it is just a game show so lou are we still saying why say we are you still saying that chris ramsey
is going to be the winner after seeing this episode are we thinking chris is still the
winner of the series i do think so because i think he wants to win more and where attention goes, energy flows,
as you well knows.
That's another great phrase.
And he just is a bit like,
you can tell he's watched every single Taskmaster episode
and you can tell, I don't know,
I think he'll probably still win it.
I would hesitate to say
that he'd watched every single Taskmaster episode.
We will be talking to Chris during the series
and I will check with him a few facts
about whether he'd seen any Taskmaster before.
Lou, remind us again about your new Taskmaster podcast
and where you can find it, please, Lou.
Taskmaster, the people's podcast and i have set alexa to when you say ask for the taskmaster podcast my one pops up
instead of yours perfect that's great i don't you know what i don't mind that because we're all
we're all members of the taskmaster cinematic oh that's nice no someone tweeted us to say that
didn't they but i didn't yes obviously i didn't actually do that it's probably that my one needs a bit of a helping hand, you know,
and yours is already well established.
But, you know, people can listen to two podcasts.
They're only about 30 mins each, aren't they?
Hey, look, no, ours is longer than that.
Oh, the great thing about mine is it's only 30 mins.
Yeah, it's always promising when your main thing to 10 people in
is that it's short.
The thing is it doesn't hang around for long, and that's the good's always promising when uh your main thing to tempt people in is that it's short the thing is it doesn't hang around for long and that's the good thing about it it is a very good podcast i have listened to it you and jack are brilliant uh so i would i would
push everyone in the direction of that podcast go and listen to it how can people get in contact
with taskmaster the people's podcast telep. And if you can't do that,
then it's an email or a phone number.
So it's fans at taskmaster.tv
if they want to email anything in.
But they can also leave voice notes,
which we're going to play through the show
and, you know, just chat about their experiences
on a voice note.
And that is on 07810 025570. that was very nice for you that you left little gaps there so
people could write it down thank you yeah it's good very professional I was also thinking how
many o's in that and it's four Lou obviously at the end of this podcast we always ask the guests to rate their experience
on the podcast between one and five points in the style of the taskmaster how have you enjoyed
yourself today and tell me in the in the medium of points, please. Five.
And that's the truth.
Thank you.
You know, you nearly dropped a point because I was a bit cold.
But then you realise that had nothing to do with me
and it's because you had a sheet over the radiator.
Yes.
Fair enough.
Thank you very much, Lou Sanders.
Thanks for having me.
Bye-bye.
Bye.
There we are. Thank you very you very much Lou for coming on and do make sure you listen to that
podcast Taskmaster People's
podcast with Lou and Jack and also
get in contact using the details that Lou gave
there thank you very much for listening
we will be back next week of course
talking about Taskmaster series 13
episode 4
it's on channel 4 Thursday at 9pm,
and the podcast will be released straight afterwards at 10pm.
And next week we have the wonderful Ardal O'Hanlon.

We will see you next week.
Thank you very much.
Bye-bye.
