I'm Dan Harris.
Hey gang, it's Friday, bonus meditation time.
One of the big themes on the show this week was social media and one of the tricky balances
on social media and in life generally is how to share without oversharing the O-Coronk term for this
is vulnerability.
It's important.
We are told to be vulnerable, but it's also difficult, both in terms of striking the
aforementioned balance between sharing and oversharing and in terms of having the guts
to look into your own guts.
So let's meditate on this now with Alexis Santos, who's been a very influential
teacher for me personally. Alexis has been practicing since 2001. He's a longtime student
of a Burmese master by the name of Sayada, Ootasia, Nia. Alexis currently lives in Maine and is a
longtime contributor to 10% happier. Here we go now with Alexis Santos.
happier. Here we go now with Alexis Santos. Hi, this is Alexis. It takes vulnerability to acknowledge and notice what is really happening
in our experience, which is why vulnerability is an essential aspect of our mind from this practice,
and can help bring a sense of true strength and happiness that can serve us in all areas of our lives.
Let's get started.
Begin by finding a posture that feels comfortable
and natural to you.
Whether sitting or lying down,
gently close your eyes if you like.
As you settle in, invite in an attitude of allowing things to be just as they are.
Bring awareness to what it feels like to be you righty-washy term, but learning to trust in our ability to recognize
and be aware of what is present takes courage.
Being aware and feeling the emotion just as it is. Consider for a moment a situation where you feel your guard goes up, a situation at work, Be aware of what happens in sharing everything and losing your boundary.
It's about being aware of fear and uncertainty, of feelings, we need the courage to open, to feel, to allow the different aspects of our own nature. Allow do in life is to be vulnerable.
We're usually more interested in presenting that we've got everything under control.
In the days ahead, you might remember the practice of vulnerability, of inviting in greater
freedom and ease to be just as you are.
When you feel ready, slowly open your eyes if they have been closed and continue being
aware as this session winds down.
Thanks for your practice and see you next time.
