Starting point is 00:00:00 Oh, that's just me, Perez Hilton, drinking all the tea that goes on in this world. And with the way social media is, I just can't get enough. I'm obsessed. It's like every day something new and scandalous comes out and I want it all. I'm the OG of entertainment gossip and if you are like me and have an unrelenting thirst for all the drama that's flying around, you should listen to my podcast, The Perez Hilton Podcast, available wherever you get your podcasts. Recorded live at Corolla One Studios with Adam Corolla and board-certified physician and addiction medicine specialist, Dr. Drew Pinsky. You're listening to The Adam and Dr. Drew Show. Yeah, get it on.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Get it on. Dr. Drew's board-certified herbicide specialist and his addiction analyst. All right. Chris Max Pata is in here. Happy Black Friday guys. Good times. And he's got some news stories so we can get into some of that.
Starting point is 00:01:16 I want to talk about, first off, Gen Z. You both have been talking. You've talked to multiple generations of teenagers, right? What is Gen Z? By the way, I don't know any of the Gen Xers or the Gen Zs or the Gen Ys or whatever. Gen Z is you're born from 96 to 2010.
Starting point is 00:01:36 You were born? Yes. The people born between 1996 and 2010. So is that the earliest? Yeah, 96 is the earliest. No, not 96. Gen Z that the earliest? Yeah, 96 is the earliest. No, not 96. Gen Z is the youngest. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Well, Alpha is if you're born after 2010. Apparently Chris's baby and my baby are Alpha. Alpha. Yeah, because we were born after that. So what I found, the first thing I found was I find almost any labeling narcissistic. Any label. first thing i found was i find almost any labeling narcissistic any label so i have i have outrage at anyone with their pronouns because i'm almost like that's a that's a narcissistic fuck stick over there like all that is but when they when anyone i don't like when people go like i'm a
Starting point is 00:02:17 pisces so i you know or i have you know one quarter iroquois indians so i understand which way trains are going even if i don't see them, I can hear them. Right, because those are self-proclaimed. But don't you think that there's a difference between this generation of teenagers versus – Oh, yeah. I'm just saying I don't know what gen I'm in. Oh, yeah. And a lot of people make the announcement, and then they make a joke, and I label all labels a waste of time, so I don't dance with that. First thing that's interesting to me, though, is that I always thought generations were 17 years typically.
Starting point is 00:02:51 This is 14. Oh, is that true? Maybe it's 15 by the lunar. Didn't the Bible say 20? I don't know. Anyway, yeah, they're fucked up. So the new teens. So there's this new study out of UCLA that found that Gen Z teens and adults are asking for less sex scenes in TV and movies than they consume. I saw that.
Starting point is 00:03:11 I saw that. Mm-hmm. But you know why? When I saw that, I thought because they have been reared on pornography, when they want to see sex, they want the whole thing. And they don't want to be distracted by it it's taking away from the story, typically. You allude to it happening, fine, move on with the story. They want action, right? That's what they go to film.
Starting point is 00:03:33 They want the plot going. They want story, action, whether it's comedy, romantic comedy, or DC comic or something. They want what they want from the story not from the sex scenes while when we were jesus when we were kids the sex scenes you'd you'd you'd you'd go to drive-in theaters so you could watch the screen at the next theater to see this yeah no you knew the movies that had the scene we're all sort of mr skins yes yes you knew the plot and you know at this point about you know 41 minutes into the betsy or something somebody's shirt was going to come off or some version of that and you had to time things accordingly yeah i remember literally
Starting point is 00:04:20 going to a movie theater when i was like must must have been 15 because I couldn't drive. My friends drove. I don't have any idea what the film was we drove into, but we went because the X-rated film called The Cheerleaders was playing at the screen next to it. And that's what we watched. Yeah, we would drive all the way across town to see the shittiest vampire succubuses and stuff like that. I mean, there was a whole. There was a whole range of stuff. There was a whole range.
Starting point is 00:04:47 I mean, not to mention your kind of Russ Meyer stuff. Yes. And then they would do, they'd have all these send-ups, like there was like Flesh Gordon and stuff like that. You know, there was a weird kind of bee kitty porn, kind of weird low budget, you know, kind of. Sort of comic. red little red rock it was like there was like fairy tale stuff you know and you know ants and flash gorn and flesh gorn and there was this whole genre of these films and it was just to see boobies. And it's the opposite of Gen Z.
Starting point is 00:05:26 Right. So we were the opposite. Because they have it on demand now. Why would they want to see half porn or bad porn when they can see whatever they want? Well, let's explain this then. Because 51.5% of adolescents, excuse me, 44.4% of the youth, they felt that romance was overused as well. They don't even want romance. Oh, that's interesting.
Starting point is 00:05:46 So that's just the males. So is this – But that's always been the case. The males don't want the romance so much. Right. But do you think that there is an issue of Gen Z avoiding any sort of intimacy? Yeah. I mean, there's got to be issues.
Starting point is 00:06:03 I mean, the issues are self-esteem movement, disaster. But that's over. That's sort of done, right? No, well, it's been codified, and it just is now. We don't have to do a self-esteem movement. Every kid is precious. Everyone does what they want to do, you know, whatever. So that's number one so they have a kind of autonomy and they you know look let do not
Starting point is 00:06:32 underestimate the value of just like good old-fashioned boredom and not being entertained all the time and not being stimulated all the time you know just making yourself sort of go outside and hike and walk and ride your bike or something they're all sort of stimulated all the time you know just making yourself sort of go outside and hike and walk and ride your bike or something they're all sort of stimulated now they really don't need the outside world as much as i mean i could remember when i remember remember you're like 10 yeah and you're like oh just sitting around on saturday yeah my biggest thing was like we got to get a football game going we got to get a football game going. We got to get a football game going.
Starting point is 00:07:08 We have to get a game going. You know what I mean? And then you'd go to the person's house on the door, and they're like, the woman would answer the door, but you didn't know her name. So you'd go, hi, Mrs. Tommy's mom. Is Tommy home? Yeah, he's home.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Can he play? Can he go? And they're like're like well he's got up then he can well say he's grounded now we gather people up like and go to the high school on a saturday and just who's got a ball and we're gonna use remember going just riding bikes around the asphalt that kind of thing with groups yeah people. Yeah, just in circles. Yeah, circles, literally. Yeah. Yeah. So you had to be kind of engaged with stuff.
Starting point is 00:07:50 And people are just sort of home. They got, you know, my son has a 60-inch TV in his room next to the computer. He's not going anywhere. And also, most of the relationships you have now are online, right? I mean, like, well, they can be satisfied with online relationships. I don't need to hang out with my friends. I already know what they're doing. I can talk to them wherever I want.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Well, also, like, my son just puts his earbuds in and goes for three-hour walks at night and he just listens to podcasts. He's an anomaly, I think, compared to what other people are doing socially at these kids his age. In what sense? Well, we didn't, I mean, think about
Starting point is 00:08:24 the stimulation you have in the palm of your hands oh yeah oh my god and then we'll answer the question but i mean it's like we just had long you know if you want to you would have to go with you like my mom would be like i gotta go to the place to get retread tires and you're coming you know and you just sit in the waiting room of the retread tire place when you're nine you just yeah just sit there there's no tv and a magazine on balancing tires you know what i mean or something you just could look at the pictures yeah and that was it that could have been your wheels at least it was wheels yeah sorry oh i think like most people
Starting point is 00:09:02 his age they they worry about what their social media profile looks. What am I doing? Things like that to show that I'm doing cool things. And Sonny doesn't worry about that. I don't think he does at all. Good. Thanks to that triumph. But so, yeah, so the majority of the Gen Z, they want to see more aromantic or asexual characters depicted in media.
Starting point is 00:09:22 And so there's a sex therapist expert, Alia Moore. So she says that Gen Z has grown up in an era marked by greater awareness of consent, sexual boundaries, and the Me Too movement. Okay, and? And this heightened awareness leads them to demand healthier and more respectful depictions of relationships. Oh, no, no, no, no. You don't think?
Starting point is 00:09:41 It makes them scared of relating. The millennials had this a bit, too. They were no. You don't think? It makes them scared of relating. The millennials had this a bit too. They were like they don't want to be seen as toxic. They don't want to be seen as raping somebody. And so they just don't do anything. They turn back to their porn. They're afraid to engage. And then you have the females go, we're all the men.
Starting point is 00:09:58 What's going on? And now they're in their 20s, late 20s. They don't know how to go date and form relationships, break relationships. They tend to get obsessed with people if they find somebody they're attracted to. And then if they're not reciprocated, just become their friend. That's stalking behavior, full on. And please, the healthier boundaries. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:10:18 They're just confused and scared. And I don't think the boundaries have anything to do with this film thing. Nothing at all. But the question is, does it have anything to do with what they desire from relationships per se? And is there – I think we are more preoccupied with relationships than we should have been. I think that would be a – I think flip this script and look at our group and go, we were way too preoccupied. I don't know why. Oh, I think so too.
Starting point is 00:10:45 I mean I'll watch a movie from the 80s and those sex scenes go way too long for me. Right? Yeah, but we were like, I don't know, we were preoccupied with it. Well, no. You're not talking about from the movies. Not too generally. Or generally we were preoccupied. Well, we didn't have things.
Starting point is 00:11:02 But let's think about it this way. They didn't have things in the 1940s either, but what they did have was guidelines, what you could and couldn't do. And all that was sort of cast off in the 80s. Well, I'll speak from personal experience. in my world. Or the only thing I had going on was kind of misery. Cause I had, I had jobs that were not just sort of dead end jobs or just sort of thankless jobs.
Starting point is 00:11:35 There were sort of miserable, miserable jobs. You know, I don't, I don't think people understand people stop at sort of bored, like with their jobs, like, ah, my job sucks. What sucks about it? I just sit there all day and I have to do this. I just sit there all day. My boss is kind of a douche. Right. But that's not spreading hot tar on 110 degrees up on a roof in Chatsworth or
Starting point is 00:11:58 something like that. It will dip into misery. Oh, yeah. And there are jobs that are that way. dip into misery. Oh, yeah. And there are jobs that are that way. Traditionally, there was a lot of them. And I had all of them. And I was pretty fucking miserable. And so, and there was nothing else going on. I didn't have any money.
Starting point is 00:12:14 I didn't have any stuff. And then when a relationship would end, it'd be, oh, that's all I had. Yes. There was a lot of misery. A lot of misery. Later on in life, you get money. You have things. you have opportunities you have a work that's like fulfilling you know and in travel and all the all the distractions that go along with with a good life you break up you're not happy about it but it does not hit you in an
Starting point is 00:12:42 all-encompassing way because you have to get up the next day and you got to go shoot the man show, you know what I mean, or whatever, versus this rot on a futon kind of thing. You know what I mean? Yes, I do. So a lot of it is where you're at when you're at it. Yeah, I agree with that. And today-
Starting point is 00:13:03 Like Chris didn't worry about it when he was 18. But then again, he was unleashed in a way that previous generations had not been unleashed. Oh, my friend Chris? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Oh, okay. Well, there's somebody in... No, I'm sorry. I beg your pardon. I was looking at you and thinking about you. That's Dr. Drunus. Drunus dumbest, everybody.
Starting point is 00:13:21 One of the worst broadcasts ever. You just talked about Chris last time. No, it was my example of my chick thing. Well, first off, I'm a genius for even knowing what the fuck you're talking about because you're saying Chris. Well, we just talked about Chris slopping in your garage. Right, right. All right.

Starting point is 00:14:40 sale when you can get 50 off go check out blindsglower.com and let them know adam and dr drew sent you that's blindsglower.com all right what the hell you got well so speaking of millennials so by the way chris very popular now with in this show people are love i get tons of stuff on twitter and bring uh lexapati and more often i I love him. So anyway, thank you. I see you've been getting my burner account tweets. Thank you. So the U.S. birth rate is the lowest in history right now. And I think it is. Wait, how could that be with so many people? Like per capita or something?
Starting point is 00:15:17 Must be, yeah? Well, it's per. Yeah, it's not volume. Yeah, it must be. So like a stooge trip. No, I'm just. No, no. No, no. No, volume. Yeah, it must be. No, I'm just... No, no.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Yeah. When the settlers came, it was less than a million people, so it's not that low. It's not James Town. It's always per family. Whether it's Japan, whether it's America, whether it's Cuba, it's always two points per couple, whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Speaking of Asia, this is even happening in China, right? So millennials are just delaying having kids or not having kids at all. It seems worrisome. And as I said, it could be related to the less sex, the less – Elon Musk has said it's the problem because things can really collapse. And one of the things that people don't understand is that economies build, grow when populations grow. And if populations shrink, economies shrink. So millennials are saying that a lot of it is because struggling economy.
Starting point is 00:16:16 They're not making as much money. That makes sense to me. People are saying climate change. No. Well, if they do, that's – No, look. It's a combination of all the above. So everything that we're doing is wrong in terms of where we're trying to sort of push people or what the mode of the day is.
Starting point is 00:16:42 We're going to look back on this and we're going to look back on this era like we look back on the food pyramid now we go oh fuck we're 100% wrong when is that going to be when do we get to look back how many years i started 17 years ago looking back no looking around and going i don't know what the fuck you people are doing but you're wrong about everything right so right so when does that become more consensus? Do you imagine? I want your crystal brain. Look, the fruit.
Starting point is 00:17:11 I want to live long enough to see that. You have to bear the fruit, the rotted fruit of the tree that you planted that has shit berries on it. Because that's what it is. The fruit must be born and rot before we should do the back on it. Because that's what it is. The fruit must be born and rot before we should do the back of this. Yes, everything you're telling everyone to do is wrong. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Right? Yeah. But it's been that way for a long time. In fact, I don't even think the food pyramid has changed. I don't know that they've even changed it. We've just figured out that it's a mistake.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Just third-hand smoke, food pyramid. Yeah, yes. It's everything we've preached. Everything. Whatever, microaggressions, the aforementioned self-esteem movement, like all this manipulating of the grades to get the kids to pass. It's all wrong. It's anything bureaucracy has gotten into.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Well, bureaucracy and the young Turks or anybody on the left. I mean, they're just wrong. Everyone has just been wrong about everything. And if you live in Los Angeles or San Francisco, then you're kind of in the epicenter of bad ideas and things being wrong. And then you kind of see it. Feel it. And you can feel it. Now, so kids
Starting point is 00:18:26 kids need tons of discipline they need tons of consequence they need a lot of golden rule shit they need the 10 commandments they need religion they need all of the stuff that we've been removing from their plate if they're bored they need to just be fucking bored on their own and figure out ways to make themselves unbored like it's all diet and exercise and we're taking it all away and now the chickens are kind of coming home to roost and we're kind of confused like what's what's with all the shitty 23 year old employees what's with all the shitty 23 year old employees you bake them in a oven and now it's time to come out of the oven and get a job. You,
Starting point is 00:19:09 you went to a place called college where they got their fucking brains twisted. Their brains are so twisted. They're fucking pro Hamas at this point. And they call women birthing people or something. They're chest feeders. There's such a fucking moral compass of a mess and now we expect them just to
Starting point is 00:19:27 enter the workforce and do what we tell them to do? Are you fucking nuts? It can't work that way. Is this not cyclical then? This is something new with 23-year-old workers. Great question. I think everything is cyclical but everything's also new.
Starting point is 00:19:44 It can be both. There are cyclical trends. Trend's also new, right? It can be both. There are cyclical trends, trends of history, trends of personality styles, trends of trauma in childhood, trends of family functioning. Look at the, I mean, the Bible Chronicle. I was talking to somebody this morning about this, how, you know, there's- Oh, they would laugh at you if you went to any college campus and started talking about the Bible. Yeah, I know. And all like the Old Testament is
Starting point is 00:20:05 is a bunch of observed history, observed behavior. It's all it is, really. A bunch of how do humans behave over and over and over and over again. With tons of truths, like, just grafted on. Yeah, it's just, that's what it is. How do they behave over and over again?
Starting point is 00:20:16 And, you know, they say, the Bible has tons of wisdom. Like, they just go, when somebody goes into court, we don't favor the poor person for instance there's a very important passage where they go like just because that person's poor doesn't mean we're going to favor them in court well we've completely thrown that out the window i mean poor people just a fucking free-for-all i mean the poorest if you're homeless yeah just do whatever the fuck you want
Starting point is 00:20:42 at this point and if you're rich you're attacked yeah you know whatever the fuck you want at this point. And if you're rich, you're attacked. And it also doesn't say stuff like thou shall not kill. It says thou shall not murder. You can't murder somebody, but Israel can go kill a bunch of – go to Gaza and kill a bunch of Hamas leaders. That's fine with the Bible, which makes sense. You can kill people. The Bible is full of violence. Lots of violence. You can kill people. The Bible's full of violence. You just can't.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Lots of violence. You can't murder people. That's different. It's called killing without justification is murder. Right. And the second layer to that, though, is, well, what's justification? And I used this phrase the other day with a friend of mine. You may enjoy this one. And in discerning what's justification depends somewhat on what your perspective is. And I was talking to my
Starting point is 00:21:28 friend, I said, yeah, my father used to say his grandfather, his father used to always say depends on whose ox is being gored. Yeah. It depends whether it's your ox or somebody else's ox. Yeah. It does affect perception. We're living in a time of shit ideas. Just horrible
Starting point is 00:21:44 wrong ideas. It's the food pyramid shit ideas, just horrible, wrong ideas. It's the food pyramid of ideas. We have it wrong. We're wrong. The food pyramid of ideas. That's where we're living. We have it wrong, and we don't understand it, and then we don't understand why the kids are getting fat, because they're following the food pyramid. You mean Count Chocula is not a part of this complete breakfast?
Starting point is 00:22:03 No. What the hell? Yes. Hey, before we go on, yeah, I want to hear a word from our friend Jordan Harbinger. You're about to hear a preview of the Jordan Harbinger show with Bill Browder, who uncovered a massive fraud inside the Russian government and took on one of the most powerful men in the world, Vladimir Putin. While I was sitting there, now 90%, they were going to steal my last 10 cents on the dollar.
Starting point is 00:22:25 So I took a decision which nobody had ever taken before, which was to take on one of the oligarchs. I did. I fought back, big time. Sergei and I exposed the crime. The same people who Sergei testified against arrested him and then tortured him to try to get him to withdraw his testimony.
Starting point is 00:22:46 He was really a man of steel. On the morning of November 17th at 7.45 a.m., I got the call from Sergei's lawyer, and it was the most horrifying, life-changing, soul-destroying news that I could have ever gotten. For more on how Bill Browder continues to fight for change while being a thorn in the side of Vladimir Putin, check out episode three, which is one of the most popular episodes of The Jordan Harbinger Show. So we live in a vortex of shit ideas being perpetuated mostly by college and left and chicks and dudes who think like chicks. I'm surprised Gen Z doesn't want the Bible more because there's an immaculate conception. I mean, there's no sex before somebody born. That's the New Testament.
Starting point is 00:23:33 They'll get back. Listen, what do I say? Look, where's it heading? Safe spaces and octagons. That's all. There'll be a group that'll break off. They'll be eating the carnivore diet. They'll be rolling, you know, jujitsu. They'll be a group that'll break off. They'll be eating the carnivore diet. They'll be rolling jujitsu.
Starting point is 00:23:48 They'll be driving Jeeps. They'll be hunting and fishing. It's just that's where we're going. As long as the groups leave each other alone, I have no problem with that. The problem is everyone has to be condemned for being in either group. That's the problem. No, the problem is the people in safe spaces won't leave the hunters alone. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:24:06 It's not a two-way street. Look at COVID. Everybody I knew who was a hunter didn't care what the other side was doing. It was the other side that was following them around, wanting them to put masks on. Well, how do we deal with it? Well, look, we have a Supreme Court, right? Yeah, yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:21 We have a conservative faction of the Supreme Court, and we have a progressive group of the Supreme Court. Yes? Yeah, yeah. All right. We have a conservative faction of the Supreme Court and we have a progressive group of Supreme Court. Yes? Yeah. Okay. Somebody said, should we make it an OSHA mandate that you have to be vaccinated to go back to work or to work or to travel or to do anything in the United States? Take an experimental vaccine, whatever your age is, even if you're healthy. Okay. How did they vote on that?
Starting point is 00:24:46 Conservatively, I imagine. What did the conservatives say? That we can't do that. That's not within our purview. Okay. What did the progressives say? We should do that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:54 There's your answer. Okay. So it's not, the progressives want to be left alone. Not the progressives, the conservatives. Everything's always a two-way street. It's not a two-way street. They want Americans to be left alone. You don't have to take a experimental vaccine if you don't want to. The conservatives. Everything's always a two-way street. It's not a two-way street. They want Americans to be left alone.
Starting point is 00:25:09 You don't have to take a experimental vaccine if you don't want to. That's what conservatives say. What's Sotomayor say? 100,000 babies on ventilators. We need to do this. They lie. They use hysterics and they lie to get you to do what they want. She's vaccinated. So who gives a fuck?
Starting point is 00:25:24 You shouldn't give a fuck you're vaccinated yeah totally safe you got it so to marry probably got your boosters good you're done you're done what do you care about me how do you get the hunters left alone they have to just move to a place like florida and just go fuck all you we're not doing this is that michael malice would say that's going to result in a breaking apart of the United States. It's going to involve the blue states that are going to fall apart wanting to get shit from the ones that thrive. That's what's going to happen. It's two camps.
Starting point is 00:25:57 We've got the fucking builder's camp over here, and we've got the moocher camp over there. And they want to talk about good vibes and good feelings, but at some point they run out of firewood and food. And now they have to show up at the fucking builder camp, but they don't put their hat in their hand. They just pass a law that says you have to hand over 30% of your firewood. What's California doing right now? As far as? They're not actively trying to make California a more conducive place for business
Starting point is 00:26:26 and for residents to stay they're figuring they're trying to figure out ways to get your money for the next 10 years when you move to a builder camp yeah yeah does that seem like it's the example I'm making does it seem any different no that's what they're doing where my head goes is like geez if it were to break apart now you's what they're doing. Where my head goes is like, jeez, if it were to break apart, now you have countries that are going to be fighting over the wood. You're just going to have to go to a place, and that place is not going to be San Francisco or Los Angeles. That's what it is. And then they're going to want your money because the productive people are going to leave. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:02 That's how it's going to work. And then you're going to be left with the good vibes folk who don't pay tax. You know what my mom did? She had good vibes. You know what she didn't do? She didn't pay taxes. She took from the government. She took from the government.
Starting point is 00:27:13 And they complained about it. She wasn't in the builder camp? She wasn't in the builder camp. So she would need you in the builder camp to break off part, you know, you went out and hunted and you caught a deer today. She needs some of that meat She felt rich people didn't pay taxes So where did the tax money come from?
Starting point is 00:27:30 They never do that math When the folks that say rich people Don't pay taxes So that leaves you out They always do some kind of weird Middle class thing It's the middle class that has the burden Never pencils out They got rid of the middle class They can It's the middle class that has the burden, you know, whatever. Never pencils out.
Starting point is 00:27:45 They got rid of the middle class. They can't say that anymore. So, Whoopi Goldberg, actually. She talked about what's going on with these millennials and their low birth rates. I don't know. This is on The View. I see what she says. Maybe it's insightful.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Every generation comes and wants to do better than their parents did. Every generation. But I'm sorry, if you only want to work four hours, it's going to be harder for you to get a house. Oh, and don't mention four days. No, but... You know, I feel for everybody that feels this, but I'm sorry. We busted our behinds.
Starting point is 00:28:23 We had to bust our behinds because we didn't have the option of going back. Listen, we had all kinds of stuff. No, it's true. The one thing I'd say is millennials are statistically the first generation that's likely to do worse off than their parents. You know what? That's what they said to us as well.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Every generation is told you're going to do worse than your parents. And you know what? People pick it up and they do what they do and they raise themselves. And this is what you got to do. It's called being a good citizen. How about that? It's weird when somebody says something that makes sense. I know.
Starting point is 00:28:58 I'm disoriented right now. I feel elated. I just saw Hillary Clinton talk on The View for like four minutes on Palestine and Israel. And I'm like, oh, my God, it makes sense. Yeah. Listen, when I see that, I'm literally elated because this is what's bothering me all the time. But then they go to. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:29:17 I want to have the moment. I want to have my whoopee moment. I know. But then you got to go. But then why are they so fucked up on everything else? Like, why are they so wrong with everything else? It's a start. It's a start. It's a start. And by the way, the way the all-in podcast you know those guys shamash and those guys they they were saying the same thing they were like hey you want to be
Starting point is 00:29:32 successful you're going to make sacrifices you work your ass off you're not going to sleep that's it that's it it's the way it goes always been that way will always be that way yeah this idea of work-life balance and stuff like go ahead. But you can't also then demand certain. Well, I think what they're missing in the work-life balance discussion is you can have a work-life balance after the age of 50. Yeah. Well, that's it. If you choose to do it.
Starting point is 00:29:56 In its time. You can, everything can be. Yeah, you don't have a work-life balance of 22. And by the way, women are woke up to this first, by the way, when you say, you can be anything, do what you want, have babies whenever you want. Well, it turns out you can't have babies whenever you want. And when you have babies, you're going to not want to do the work stuff as much for a couple of years. You're going to want it. You're going to take, there's multiple babies. You're going to, and sure, dad can fill in, no problem, but you may want to do other
Starting point is 00:30:20 things and then you can go to the workforce again, and then dad can back you up. I mean, I think it's a give and a take, a back and a forth, and there are stages of life and people who then say, oh, you live so long with monogamy, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, we live a long time, and that's why we can support each other in a monogamous relationship to do these things that we want to do. Well, work-life balance, that's a fool's errand. I don't even really know what it means. Well, work-life balance, that's a fool's errand. I don't even really know what it means. At certain stages, I would have judged it harshly when I was 30.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Oh. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I was disdainful. I was disdainful of doctors like me who weren't killing themselves working full-time, doing medical care, taking care of patients. I had such a value in that i thought was so important what caused the change in perspective burned out i think as much as anything uh and you just can't you can't keep it up the same way and i had other things i wanted
Starting point is 00:31:17 to do and it was more rewarding to me to do other things and even though i have a certain amount of guilt because it was i was so judgmental of anybody that wasn't doing that until I was about 45. And I would get confused when Adam would say things like, you got to prepare for the show. I'm like, it's all day. I'm doing it all day. I'm working with patients. And he would stand for that. And I'm better.
Starting point is 00:31:41 I'm better. Am I not? Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Got rid of a lot of your habits yeah
Starting point is 00:31:46 including the workaholism which you could argue is not so healthy but I would have been very judgmental all right Fargo North Dakota Fargo Theater
