Existence is what you choose to see. What is the human condition? Marcus, it really says that life
is just marrying, raising children, getting sick, dying, waging war, throwing parties, doing
business, arming, flattering, boating, distrust,
and hoping others will die, complaining about their own lives, falling in love, putting
away money, seeking higher power and office.
In that sense, this whole existence thing is a bit depressing.
Look around you two thousand years ago or today, and it's the same things Marcus was lamenting.
People complaining about their bosses, running late, arguing bitterly over politics, falling
short of their diet, neglecting important matters for the rush of an affair, or another night
out, blaming others for their problems, being bigoted, saving for some luxury they don't
need, talking rudely to their children, lusting, fearing, leaving a tip that's too small.
This is all true, but to borrow the exercise from EpicTius, we can choose another
handle to grab, another more sustaining and edifying view. Sure, there are bad and
base people out there and always have been. There are also people stopping to
help someone stuck on the side of the road, a promising student selecting the
selfless calling over a career of money, a brilliant artist finding something new to
say, despite thousands of years of precedent, a world leader who declines to pull tighter
on the not of war, a child born with incredible gifts, people working towards making their
community a little bit better every day.
The reality is that these activities are just as ordinary and common
as the tired banal evil that exhausts us. This goodness exists today just as it existed in the time
of espacian or merciceurilius. People do good and people do bad. We just have to look for what we
want to see and choose to focus on one over the latter. And most importantly, we have to choose which one we want to be.

Celebrity feuds are high stakes.
You never know if you're just going to end up on Page Six or Du Moir or in court.
I'm Matt Bellesai.
And I'm Sydney Battle, and we're the host of Wondery's new podcast, Dis and Tell, where
each episode we unpack a different
iconic celebrity feud from the build-up, why it happened, and the repercussions. What does our
obsession with these feud say about us? The first season is packed with some pretty messy pop culture
drama, but none is drawn out in personal as Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears. When Britney's fans
form the free Britney movement dedicated to fraying her from the infamous conservatorship, Jamie Lynn's lack of public support, it angered some fans, a lot of them.
It's a story of two young women who had their choices taken away from them by their controlling
parents, but took their anger out on each other.
And it's about a movement to save a superstar, which set its sights upon anyone who failed
to fight for Britney.
