Starting point is 00:00:00 What happens when a professional football player's career ends, and the applause fades, and the screaming fans move on? I am going to share my journey of how I went from Christianity to now a Hebrew Israelite. For some former NFL players, a new faith provides answers. You mix homesteading with guns and church. Voila! You got straightway. They try to save everybody. Listen to Spiraled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, voila, you got straight away. They try to save everybody.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Listen to Spiraled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In California during the summer of 1975, within the span of 17 days and less than 90 miles, two women did something no other woman had done before, try to assassinate the President of the United States. One was the protege of Charles Manson. 26-year-old Lynette Fromm, nickname Squeaky. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI. Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer,

Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Blamin' It, all on the Zites on Broadway.
Starting point is 00:02:21 I said that like I was guessing a Wheel of Fortune puzzle because I do not know what that is a reference to. If that's a song, I am sorry I butchered it. Jeff, calm back. Calm back. I am Jack O'Brien. That
Starting point is 00:02:39 is DJ Daniel Goodman. Back again. Back again, baby. I am currently holding my microphone stand up with my forehead because it is in a rough state. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I put it on a folding table and the folding table, it turns out, does not have the structural integrity to hold the weight. Oh, no. It's kind of breaking. I got you. We'll sort you out later.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Well, I'm sure I can figure it out, but it's just... Woo! Busy day. Great episode tomorrow. Watch out now. But for now, this is What's trending uh twitch drama we got twitch drama down oh we got you know how i like my twitch drama messy and hot and dirty uh
Starting point is 00:03:37 no you're gonna have to explain this to me and i going to have to nod and smile like I know the names you're talking about. No problem. So a Twitch streamer, we'll say Twitch streamer number one, named XQC. XQC? XQC. The very same chess expert, XQC, was on a stream talking about how people sometimes get paid to do charity streams. how people sometimes get paid to do charity streams. Now, that might sound ridiculous, or it might not sound ridiculous, depending on your experience with charity-style events.
Starting point is 00:04:18 I think you would know that a lot of celebrities sometimes get paid to show up at charity events that happens. But I think people assume that Twitch streamers are this kind of completely altruistic, no, surely we won't take money, but whatever. That's beside the point. I don't know if we assume they're altruistic. We just assume they're not big time enough to get paid money to do charity events. Amen to that. I mean, it does kind of... I think the thing that it blurs the line between is like celebrity appearing at charity event and spawn con like sponsored content but i mean if you're doing sponsored content for a good cause is that worse than doing sponsored
Starting point is 00:04:51 content for budweiser right well i mean you know i think i mean ultimately it's it's not worse because the the result is charity going towards some you know whatever good cause yeah whatever the good cause may be um and other streamers have come out because of that being like by the way i have never been paid for a charity stream namely streamers like dr lupo who have donated millions of dollars to the saint jude children's hospital and that's amazing yeah he's a really really really good dude and his streams have garnered a ton of money and he does them all the time. And just within the thread of him saying that a lot of people decided to either come to his side to support him or to shame XQC. And boy,
Starting point is 00:05:33 were the comments flying right now we have the Ninja family, Tyler or the, the Blevins family rather Jess Blevins and Tyler Blevins going up against XQC on the Twitter battlefield, just throwing vitriol at each other. I feel like I'm listening to an eSports event being broadcast by DJ Danil. You know, I do a little bit of the old casting. Side gig of his.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Yeah, exactly. Or maybe this is your side gig. I don't know. Okay. But yeah, so, you know so it's just Twitch drama. A bunch of people yelling at each other on Twitter. Forget it, Jake. It's just Twitch drama.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Yep. Yeah. Carl Reiner is trending RIP to one of the best comedy lines, his relationship with Mel Brooks. They still would hang hang out watch a movie every week just adorable adorable men I think that's them right
Starting point is 00:06:32 Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks weren't they the homies who like kept hanging out I think so anyways I think you're right alright if not we can edit that out but because the Mel Brooks heads will come for you uh but one thing that i didn't know about carl reiner like he's a great director he directed
Starting point is 00:06:55 the jerk i believe yes was somehow intimately involved in making like all these comedy classics. He also was a huge fan of The Net, the Sandra Bullock movie. The Net? He loves movies. He was one of our great Hollywood movie cinephiles. He's not out here going to tell you about a great Chinese film you've never heard of. He loves Hollywood movies,
Starting point is 00:07:26 and The Net is one of his favorites for some reason, which is just, I don't know. That's always so interesting to me when there's something about the shape of the lens over somebody's brand that makes The Net just come in in perfect definition and just nail it for them. I just want to read you a couple of tweets from him just earlier this year. Carl Reiner, going to give myself a treat by re-watching one of my all-time favorite comeuppance films, The Net, starring one of my all-time favorite actors, Sandra Bullock. Love it. Nothing affords me greater pleasure than watching Sandra Bullock, one of my all-time favorite actors sandra bullock love nothing
Starting point is 00:08:05 affords me greater pleasure than watching sandra bullock one of my all-time favorite actresses in the net one of my all-time favorite films i had that fun today by showing it to a first-time viewer sharing it with the world uh these are all separated by three months almost to the fact almost to the degree that you think he has like all right i can't just do nothing but watch the net so i will allow myself to watch it every three months oh because in september of last year i'm so glad i took the time to express my feelings to pablo goldstein about about Sandra Bullock and her wonderful career. Trust that no one loves The Net or Sandra Bullock more than Carl Reiner
Starting point is 00:08:49 via Vulture. Somebody interviewed him about it. If you have or haven't seen Sandra Bullock and The Net, I suggest you do. It's so well written and performed, you'll thank me. Just rewatched The Net, one of my favorite comeuppance films
Starting point is 00:09:05 starring Sandra Bullock. Recommend you see it. This is back in 2017. Wow. So this fool is just 2015 from Netflix. I downloaded The Net and I enjoyed it as much as I did when I first saw it.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Okay. Story involving Sandra Bullock. Brilliant. This could be his great last bit that he just like left this in his tweet deck uh just seriously i'm ready for the tweet that comes out in three months that was scheduled long long before just something very just raw and morbid just like even in heaven the net is still my favorite all right this this might be the best one though okay uh. Carl Reiner from earlier this year, two months ago.
Starting point is 00:09:47 More favorites. So he was listing off his favorite films of all time. Buster Keaton's films, which is like original physical comedy, like classics. Literal classic. Orson Welles' Citizen Kane. Oh, my God. Rob Reiner's The Princess Bride. Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles. C. Reiner's the princess bride mel brooks's blazing saddles c reiner's dead man
Starting point is 00:10:08 don't wear plaid plaid love that he shouted himself out love it the net with sandra bullock uh films by woody allen also lucy with scarlett johansa you've seen the net wait what yeah yeah so so that slides in there so he's got interesting taste. He likes to watch a pretty woman in an action film, I think is what we're learning. Okay. Have you seen The Net? Do you know this movie? I know the movie, but I never took the time to watch it. Or if I did, it immediately escaped my brain. Yeah. I haven't seen it either, but now I feel like I must.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Yeah. I simply must. I mean, it's interesting because I think what is very silly about The Net is how badly it misunderstands the internet right as people are about to understand it. And so it's probably like all those movies in the 90s were written by a generation of people who had a 1980s understanding of the internet and so they just like come out and just are they don't make any sense in in the world that they're released into or the world like a couple years in the future so as somebody carl reiner who uh genius but maybe not the most tech savvy human being uh in the world
Starting point is 00:11:27 maybe uh he just never that if you just view it as pure like what if this was how computers worked uh maybe it works much better uh all right well there you go i mean yeah Shout out to Sandy Bullock and Carl Reiner. And her incredible performance in The Net. McGrath Booker is, I mean, it seems like it's still too close to call. This is the Kentucky Democratic primary to see who's going to face down Moscow Mitch. McGrath is the kind of... What's the word I'm looking for? Establishment? Dem?
Starting point is 00:12:08 Better funded. Charles Booker is kind of just was like, hey, you know what? I believe good things and I'm not controlled by any interest, so I'm going to run and had this huge last-second grassroots grounds wall of support. on many of things, is now calling it for McGrath, even though it's only a couple thousand votes apart.
Starting point is 00:12:47 And apparently a couple thousand votes were thrown out at one point. Also, the place where he was going to perform the best, Louisville, had all sorts of polling issues. You hate to... Voter suppression. Voter suppression uh what we're calling it uh yeah so um yeah the democrats uh they do not want uh the smoke when it comes to you know the the progressive movement the uh that's a shame socialism that is a shame uh
Starting point is 00:13:22 hopefully we don't have to dismantle the party eventually to get them to actually listen to us. Oh, it's happening. Yeah. It's coming. A reckoning will come for the people. Hopefully, not before we get Trump out of office. Well, that would be nice.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Yes, I would like to do that first. Although, as we were talking about, Trump is the dumbest possible version of Trump. So maybe whatever comes after him, I'm sure the Democrats will find a way to be like, no, guys, we can't have this infighting. We need to defeat Tom Cotton. I think it might be Tom Cotton, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:14:02 And his bad New York Times opinion articles. Yeah, but he's scary. Claudia Conway is trending. Yeah. So this is the teenage daughter of Kellyanne, who, like her father, not a big fan of Trump. Hell yeah. Out here on Tic Tac, putting her chest out, saying...
Starting point is 00:14:25 Tic Tac? Did I say Tic Tac? Eating Tic Tacs? I mean, we have to leave that in. Oh, let's stay in. That is a baby yoga-esque slip up. I love baby yoga. I'm okay.
Starting point is 00:14:41 I'm okay with it. I'm old as fuck, guys. You're doing great. I did not have to tell you that. But anyway, she's out here on TikTok swallowing them mints and telling the people with her minty fresh breath, fuck Trump. What she's saying in particular is, you know, arrest the people who murdered Breonna Taylor. Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:00 And also... It's been over 100 days. Talking about Trump administration trying to make it illegal for same-sex couples to adopt children uh you know saying saying all the things like i don't think we can give her too too much credit uh she's saying the things that a human being with the beginnings of a soul would say uh but i do wonder you know we keep waiting for kellyanne to to flip i mean before when it was just her husband you know we've seen that before but you know with a whole household of people who uh have eyeballs and a heart uh you wonder how long she can just keep just
Starting point is 00:15:42 shoveling it down right i'm wondering how bullshit i'm wondering how long that love can really last because like so i mean you know and i'm not trying to say that it's a be-all end-all that one thing has to happen to prove their allegiance or something but like at a certain point when do you fall out of love with that like when do you you know i don't mean politics per se but like when does this kind of like not only do i not believe in what you're saying i so strongly am against it but i still love you honey you're still my baby boo you're still my kelly welly it's really it's such a dark a dark kind of dynamic that you see every once in a while where it's like famous
Starting point is 00:16:26 parent with a child who like has, you know, there's the natural, like I want to love my parent, but then there's also the social like proximity to power thing. Right. And it's like a really can be like a weird, a weird thing.
Starting point is 00:16:45 So, you know, we, we have, uh, Donald Trump jr. Who for most of his life was like, my dad's a monster.
Starting point is 00:16:54 And then has now chosen to be like, uh, you know, full white supremacist Nazi. Um, so shame. Yeah. Truly a shame.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Uh, fuck Donald Trump jr. forever and ever that whole family oh so much what's that one trump daughter oh tiffany tiffany and also baron we don't know about baron yeah baron and baron's too young to be he's you know uh he gets twitter though oh lord you know lord save him i mean but he, I guess they're evil children, but. Didn't you see Joffrey in that, them, their Game of Thrones? I mean, good Lord, children can just be wild.
Starting point is 00:17:34 I know. Kids say the darndest things. Child dictators say the darndest things. Amen to that. But he, what was I going to say? Oh, there's a great anecdote in a new yorker article about the woman who's like the basically the national security council's russia expert fiona hill i believe her name is and she dr fiona hill i believe she has her phd in like russia studies PhD in Russian studies is the most qualified person in the world to
Starting point is 00:18:06 have that position. Her time in the Trump administration was torpedoed by Trump thinking she looked too dowdy. She didn't dress sexy enough for him. Ivanka thinking
Starting point is 00:18:22 that she was rude to her father. And also like other people in the cabinet passing around conspiracy theories because she once worked for a foundation that had funding ties to George Soros. And so they had anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. Great. So just all around beautiful insight into what it's like to work for the Trump administration that people should check out if they have a moment. Anyways, thank you, DJ Danil.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Jack, thank you. For joining us. Where can people find you and follow you?
