Starting point is 00:01:52 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. Hello, the internet, and welcome to season 241 episode 2 of their daily psyche stay production of iheart radio this is a podcast where we take a deep dive into america's shared consciousness it's tuesday june 14th 2022 which of course means that it is international bath day oh national strawberry shortcake day which makes sense This is about the time that we all start I like that it's international That the globe recognizes bath day
Starting point is 00:02:31 America There's only people doing Strawberry Shortcake Day Okay You like it but you fuck with it bad? I don't really do baths Other than if I'm very sick And then I just want to like Not stand up Otherwise I don't really fuck with baths I give a lot of baths other than if I'm very sick and then I just want to like not stand up otherwise I don't really
Starting point is 00:02:47 fuck with baths I give a lot of baths and the the process of you know draining the water after a four-year-old and a six-year-old take a bath does not make me think of that as like a a cleansing process makes but it's all left in the tub. Yeah, you leave it all behind. Leave it all on the floor, as they say. Wait, and I don't mean to be cheeky, but does your wife enjoy baths? Yeah, she does. That's right, because they see bath culture. Koreans have big bath culture.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Japanese, big bath culture. Turkish people have big bath culture. Finns have big bath culture. I was reading something about how the languages are similar, because we might descend from the same ancient people who were into baths or some shit. But I love man of bath bowls. I was reading something about how the languages are similar because we might descend from the same ancient people who were into baths or some shit. But I love, man, a bath. You fuck with a bath.
Starting point is 00:03:30 It's such a good way, if you're having trouble sleeping, a good soak right before you go to sleep is very relaxing. But not right before you go to sleep, so you fall asleep in the bath. No, don't do that. Just to set you up. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Well, my name is Jack O'Brien, a.k.a. JonBenet Ramsey eating beignets. That was just a haunting Dolly mini search that Lex Lugie shared with me. But I thought it sounded enough like a discarded Eminem lyric that I thought I'd incorporate it into the AKA. And John is my first name and Ramsey is my mother's maiden name. There it is.
Starting point is 00:04:12 You know, get it in there. And I'm thrilled to be joined, as always, by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray! Yes, he's just got kicked out of Dodger Stadium for smoking a blunt on Japanese Heritage Night. But he said he wanted to see his boy Shohei. Please give it up for Miles Gray. That's me right now. Japanese Heritage Night is at Dodger Stadium tomorrow. I'm really trying to go, but I can't.
Starting point is 00:04:37 It's the Dodgers playing the Angels. And you're like, okay. So they knew what they were doing. They wanted to bring all the Japanese people out. And I wanted to go, but I can't get the hat, the special hat for that day. So now I'm like, I don't know. Anyway, if you got that hat, I'll buy it off you.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Well, why can't you get it? Well, because the ticket's like a special package when they do those theme nights at Dodger Stadium. There's like a select number of things. It's not like everybody gets the hat. It's like you've got to buy that ticket ahead of time so that ticket gets you a hat. The hat ticket.
Starting point is 00:05:07 The hat tickets are gone. There's also a thing. I went to a Dodgers game a couple weeks ago where I got this hat, which is just a regular Dodgers hat. Really, really enjoying the Dodgers hat. Really enjoying feeling a part of the city. Rather than a thing that gets you the middle finger?
Starting point is 00:05:23 Yeah, exactly. Rather than the sixers hat which was my only hat for years and you know we've talked about the exploits of the sixers hat it's caused them to lose in the second round every year and it's also caused people to be like i fucking hate the sixers dude i'm like i yeah man there's not much to say to that like i like them i wish i didn't. But that's where we're at. It is, man.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Anyways, but now people assume a level of knowledge of, like, current knowledge about the Dodgers that I do not possess. Yesterday, somebody was like, hey, man, at least they finally got one today. I was like, right? I know. Yeah, man. Exactly, man. But they're going to put it together because they have the talent. You headed to Home Depot too? You want to ride or not?
Starting point is 00:06:08 All right, bro. Later. Get some two by fours. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Big project in the backyard. Anyways, Miles, we are thrilled to be joined in our third seat by one of our favorite guests here. Dare I say a wild wild card a very funny writer graphic designer illustrator uh one of the funniest standout comedians doing it his album 16 bits is available wherever fine comedy albums can be streamed he's coming to you live
Starting point is 00:06:38 from a roku background from a trapped tcl roku tv please welcome the brilliant the talented steven wilbur welcome to the berry patch a production of i heart radio we're the only all berry podcast okay within the daily zeitgeist uh we're talking about that finale. Turn up the faders and turn up the haters. We are cracking into it. I thought you were talking about berries. I thought you were in honor of National Strawberry Shortcake Day. Do you think that they lined that up because Strawberry Shortcake Day? You're going to need one after watching that finale.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Shortcake Day. You're going to need one after watching that finale. And then you're going to be so full of sweat and shame from eating copious amounts of strawberry shortcake. You're going to need a bath. I heard. I'm one episode behind. I caught the penultimate
Starting point is 00:07:38 episode on Saturday. Well, turn off right now. Get out of here. Get out of here. Miles, you have to leave the podcast lest the show be spoiled for you. Ashley Raitt tweeted something like, It's just going to be Steven, actually. Is there a class action lawsuit
Starting point is 00:07:53 for people who saw the finale and are distressed now? And I was like, what? They're sending out the mailers right now. The little postcards that you can afford. Injured by the Barry finale? You may be entitled to compensation the the last finale left me the finales of this series leave me feeling very being
Starting point is 00:08:14 like that was very impressive and i i just want to like rent a motel room and like smoke cigarettes and be depressed for the next week like i just it's very it's dark damn all right so i guess i'm gonna have to buckle up for that one so uh that's why i haven't even started the season yet oh this season's good i really enjoyed it so far i really that's what everybody's saying is like funny it's fun and i i I was like, well, let's see. Let's see how it leaves you. Yeah. Yeah. This last one's a real knee slapper. It's a real it's like, oh, am I watching reruns of F Troop or something? This is great. The funniest show I could think of. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:03 You are. Can you describe your background background a little bit what you've done there because it does it does evoke oh it's a gentrified roku city they've got an amc uh dave and busters h&m it's it's it's yeah it's a combination target h&m you loved you'd love to see those I do you still also kept it real standard and there's also an improv they're big into stand up
Starting point is 00:09:32 it's gotta have a place to work it's really diluted there's a lot of weird stuff being said you want to be associated with it's just a revenue machine. It's not about the art.
Starting point is 00:09:49 It's not comedy, man. Well, we're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment, Stephen. First, we're going to tell our listeners a couple of things we're talking about. And we're going to talk about a revenue machine, one James Patterson. Oh, yeah. That's not going to be the top story, but I thought it was a good- Can we make it the top story, but I thought it was a good make it the top story. James Patterson, the crime novelist who has the most bestselling novels of the last 14 years, but not nary a single book that is in the top 150 bestselling books because he just churns them out. He apparently has a factory that he oversees and is kind of a dick.
Starting point is 00:10:28 So we'll talk about that because his name and his output is going viral on Twitter and TikTok from librarians just being like, so this whole section here that you might guess biography, science uh is actually all just james patterson books and then when you go over to the kids section the teen section it's all all patterson baby oh so we'll talk about that uh we will check in with kuchella as miles has cleverly called it just what what's going on what's being revealed man day two some headliners canceled unfortunately just like a real festival man's uh lineup subject to change yeah hannock at the disco's not gonna be there yeah no kanye backed out last second hannock at the reichstag their set what i think that's been a tdz title at one point. Almost definitely. What is the schedule here?
Starting point is 00:11:26 That is the question, the pressing question that's been on my mind. It's like Monday through Thursday, they're going to be dropping hot TV specials. That's a question. That's not a pointed question that I expect an answer to. That's a hypothetical. Just out there like, yeah yeah they're not they're not doing the marketing right right like you know when fox did like cool stuff on sundays in the 90s like every 7-11 made sure you knew about it thank you so so we'll talk about that we'll talk about
Starting point is 00:11:56 as mentioned james patterson but before we get to any of that we do like to ask our guest, Stephen, what is something from your search history? I was looking this morning, and the funniest one was that I typed wikiHow, how to CWOC, because I was trying to tell my girlfriend about the wikiHow article on how to see walk because the first the first step on wiki how is it's a it's a cartoon of this long brown-haired white girl thinking and step one is understand the history and implications of the Seawalk. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Wow. So it's like an ally Seawalk? Oh, she looks. Yeah, the first one, she looks so mischievous. Yeah, mischievous look. Looks like the comedian Mary Holland. Yeah, Mary Holland is getting up to some mischief while considering what shoes look like. Mary Holland is thinking, what's up with that footwork?
Starting point is 00:13:14 Based on this wiki how dry. I like how it's a pensive like finger on the chin. And like the thing is like, know the history of this gang affiliated. Okay, what else? The thing is like, know the history of this gang affiliated dudes. Okay. Wow. What else? Number two, learn the shuffle, which I think that's what most people. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:32 And then it cracks into the action. Learn the heel toe. Yeah. Pull it all together. This is violence. Who wrote this? Who? this? Someone in that question said, did Blueface create this walk?
Starting point is 00:13:50 I'm sorry. Y'all, this is not how we need to educate the kids on crip culture in hip hop. Wow. Wow. This is... Okay, so
Starting point is 00:14:01 crip walking, we've talked about it probably the last time was because of the Super Bowl show. And before, I was like, wait till we see a mass choreographed C-Walk. And we did. These panels, right? This isn't like doing a waltz where it's like you can understand it in four diagrams. One, two, three. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:18 One, two, three. There's a whole people. There's like so many different walks. And then there's like one where it's like a foot with an arrow that's curved outward. And the most I could gather from that is like, what's you wiggle your foot. I actually saw that. Now I think I have it down. It's a person walking with the one of the arrow, like suggesting that they turn their
Starting point is 00:14:40 heel or their their right. And then the other foot. So your feet like are like this when you walk. they turn their heel or their, their toe. And then the other foot. So your feet like, are like this when you walk. Basically it's,
Starting point is 00:14:46 it looks like the way you'd walk, like when you're a kid and then your parents like, Hey, walk normal. Stop acting foolish. Right. Pick up your toes. Stop.
Starting point is 00:14:55 For like a toes. I pay good money for those. Like the way a little boy dances at a wedding. Right. When he's just all by himself on the dance floor and just doing belligerent steps out there. Just getting, getting the calories.
Starting point is 00:15:14 And I feel like that's what, when my kids dance, it's just about pure movement, irrespective of music. And then like for, you know, five seconds out of an hour of dancing, they will like hit a rhythm and I'll be like, oh, it's written by either a Brit or Canadian. Oh, where, how are you able to find that?
Starting point is 00:15:35 Cause when I click on author info, it takes me to like a login page. It takes me to a login page, made me uh led me to believe this had been alan smithied where they're like uh maybe not i look because when you look in the of like not being a shitty don't be one of these appropriate or colonizer seawalkers don't do the colonizer walk do the crip walk uh they're more recently, the crip walk has been appropriated by American culture and in general is no longer intended to display gang affiliation. However, it is important to be aware of the history and implications
Starting point is 00:16:12 of the crip walk as performing it could still potentially cause offense, E-N-C-E, in certain situations. So I used to work for a company. Go on. That's it. So I get it. I get it. No, I used to work for a company that was like a content mill or had head sections of those, a content mill and, you know, churned out stuff that was like this, but possibly less thoroughly researched maybe and yeah I don't know this
Starting point is 00:16:49 is amazing I hope that this is not anybody's answer to what's let me figure out more information on crip walking but the internet is bad you may also like how to b-boy dance or how to crump or how to top
Starting point is 00:17:09 rock related wait pop rock top rock oh not pop lock okay not pop not you're not popping and locking but you're up okay pop rock you're top topping and rocking okay written by a middle school like math teacher dance you're getting sturdy to drill music there's how to do the sixth step in parentheses break dancing and like the preview photo is just these two cubes what says clockwise clockwise and what says counterclockwise. Yeah. It's a little bit like articles that are generated by the Dolly app. Like there is a, with just the sheer amount of like, all right, you get $14 for writing this.
Starting point is 00:18:02 So write it in 30 minutes if you want to make your time worthwhile. And people are just jamming through them as fast as possible to make ends meet. And the subject matter is algorithmically generated and has nothing to do with how easy the article would be to write it's it's all just like give us your 14 minute impression of of how this what what someone would be looking for when they were searching how to this is sad because like 12 year old me would have been looking for like really complex life answers and i would have just gone here rather than like not being able to ask an adult and just feel like you go to youtube i'm assuming right no i'm thinking of like okay how about like 14 year old me trying to go to like the frosh box social dance
Starting point is 00:18:53 and you're trying to get a kiss okay and then back in the day in the late 90s you would be like people were like man you ain't kissing nobody you lose her you're like all right fine you just kind of dealt with i couldn't go to the library and be like, man, you ain't kissing nobody. You loser. And you're like, all right, fine. You just kind of dealt with it. I couldn't go to the library and be like, hey, man, how do I get a kiss? Oh, you should. That's where you look. Yeah. That's what I mean.
Starting point is 00:19:13 First, you learn the Dewey Decimal System. And then you learn the history of the Dewey Decimal System. Let's go over to the card catalog, my young man. And the social implications of the Dewey Decimal System. When I was a kid, I just watched pepe lepew cartoons that was the only way i knew how and now i don't yeah but this is like you can search in here how to get a girl in one night how to avoid falling for a one night stand how to announce pregnancy to a one night stand how to get good at picking up girls like and you know it's like young people who look at
Starting point is 00:19:44 this and like okay okay okay okay and then they end up out there in the real world where none of this shit works and it only reinforces their sordid worldview steven what is something you think is overrated i'll tell you and i mean this is no no ill will towards people who have been victims or suffer or have loved ones who have suffered. But not getting COVID sucks at this point. I haven't had it yet. I have friends who have had it twice in two weeks. They get it.
Starting point is 00:20:28 in in two weeks they they get it and now it's just it's not even like uh it's not even like a oh cool i'm doing i'm doing right i'm doing the right things because i know people who are doing them better than me and they're getting it and now so now it's like it's just a ticking clock i feel like the the people the same as people who are waiting for Beyonce news to come out. Like, I'm just like, when's it going to happen? When am I? How often are you putting yourself out there? All the time now. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:20:57 So you're just like, no one's going to dance with me at the dance. Like the way parents will send you to a friend's house who has chicken pox so you get it like i feel like that's i went with my girlfriend to a casino in northern california and did not get covid so i'm just mad right it i mean i that's how i felt i was at a wedding in oregon and i was doing all kinds of stuff that i would normally wouldn't do but weddings go on bring that out like go to like a nightclub licking parking meters yeah but and i'm i'm the same way i haven't had covid yet but part of me is like shit and like everybody i like everybody, I feel like now everybody I know, I don't, I'm like one of the few people that hasn't.
Starting point is 00:21:47 And I feel like the people that have, I see there's like a look in their eye where they're like, I'm like, I don't, I've died already. So I don't fear COVID anymore. And I'm still living in the abstract of like, well, I don't want to get long COVID. I don't know what it's going to do to me and all these other things. Not to say I'm living recklessly, but I do feel at a certain point. me and all these other things not to say i'm living recklessly but i do feel at a certain point i'm like at some point shouldn't i because i don't think i'm a freak who has like one of those immune systems that it's just impossible for me to get infected but yeah yeah i'm my body is trash yeah we're three inexplicable yeah avoiders like ellery virgins ellery smith uh friend of the show recently got it and i remember
Starting point is 00:22:28 she was saying like it's like i just i haven't had in over two years i'm like see i see people streaks ending and mine soon yeah oh man the celebration when i finally get that thing man we were gonna go big her majesty had and she's always like man you need to go get that thing, man, we are going to go big. Her Majesty had it. She's always like, man, you need to go get that shit. And I'm like, whoa. I'm like, I'm trying my best. Yeah. You know, I just we played suck and blow at that random college party and nothing happened.
Starting point is 00:22:59 With the queen? They do it with Pokemon cards. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm going to I'm going to Portland this week And I'm like, oh, it's probably going to happen then Like when I was just there, man Nah, it's bunk down there
Starting point is 00:23:14 You can't even get it down there You can't get any good COVID up there Yeah, they ain't got the good shit down there You got to get that California COVID You need that Cali Cove You know what I mean? No, you want that New York Cove I was even in New York, though Like a month month ago, and I was drinking with my mask off.
Starting point is 00:23:28 I was like, here we go. Drinking with your mask off, huh? I would hope so. Yeah. Yeah, I think mine is purely like a reflection of like the things that people, the negative things people assume about you when they're like, you still haven't had COVID? Like, would you just stay at your house all day? And I'm like, kind of.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Guilty as charged. I mean, what do you want me to do? Like, hit the club? All right. Let's take a quick break, Stephen. And we'll be right back to talk about your underrated. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
Starting point is 00:24:13 And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and L.A.-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high-control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews
Starting point is 00:24:38 with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out
Starting point is 00:25:12 in your career, you have a lot of questions like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies.
Starting point is 00:25:41 Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Basketball is just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on.
Starting point is 00:26:29 From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better.
Starting point is 00:26:51 This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session, 24 hours. BPM 110, 120. She's terrified.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago.
Starting point is 00:27:44 We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. And Stephen, what is something you think is underrated besides my ability to stay on task? You guys made a couple hand gestures and it threw me off. It's my second re-up on act two of our show.
Starting point is 00:28:29 I was like, what? Are you guys pointing? Are you doing secret hand gestures? What's happening? And we're back. Steven, what is your underrated thing? That would be great if you got into your underrated and then I just took it from the top again that was my way of letting you know no let's go with a different one you know a month ago a month ago i would say my underrated thing would be running up that hill because it is
Starting point is 00:28:58 you know the kate bush song undisputable bop and i i try to tell everyone hey listen to that song people are doing the heavy lifting for me so yeah no problem so i will say then that morning train but or nine to five parentheses morning train by sheena easton yep has the best one of the best if not the best choruses and musical history in musical history too and yeah weren't we just talking about it on this show i did a yeah that was about joe byron takes the morning train but we love my pretty good so another uh culture defining uh pop culture institution has has ruined that one for you. Any other songs you want to call out?
Starting point is 00:29:49 Yeah, I guess Ba With Da Ba. Yeah. Last resort, Papa Roach. So how did you feel when that song that you've always tried to get people up on finally had its moment in a show i don't know how do you are you a stranger thing are you a stranger are you a stranger good stuff have a good time and i think like perfect use of it you know i i think it was
Starting point is 00:30:20 it was used with purpose and it paid off. And now it's getting out there when it doesn't make sense. TikTok is dirty with it. Just putting it under weddings, putting it under baby photos. The amount of people actually running up hills. It's slim to none. Man. It is. What was the thing?
Starting point is 00:30:53 Like, it got her her first top 10 ever. Because of Stranger Things. Wasn't that like the big headline about it? I kept seeing it as the number one song in America. Like on Apple Music. Wasn't that the first time Kate Bush started like that? For sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:07 Yeah. And I think she was pissed. Yeah. I'm like, yeah. Like motherfuckers. I was right there. Just like all the people who have been like,
Starting point is 00:31:13 you need to be up on Kate Bush. Right. Right. And then they're like, have you heard that song? You're like, you piece of shit. Do you have a place that you share your,
Starting point is 00:31:23 like, since, since you seem to have, have the hits that the people crave but don't know about just yet? Do you have a place, like, can people follow you on Spotify or anything like that? No, because I actually don't have my finger on the pulse. There's just a couple of things that I like. I had it on the pulse 20 years ago. I've got the finger on my pulse, There's just a couple of things that I'm like, 20 years ago. I've got the finger on my pulse.
Starting point is 00:31:47 What speaks to me? Right. Well, maybe. My girl Katie and SheShe. I only knew one other, only know one other Kate Bush. The only, I have one Kate Bush song
Starting point is 00:31:58 that I have liked on all of my Spotify and it's Army Dreamers. All right. I just like this, you know, I just like the vocals. You know, it's a dreamers. Hmm. Yeah. Right. I just like this, you know, I just like the vocals, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:06 it's a good, good track. You don't have, you don't have to defend it. You know, I'll be bad. Oh, I just like vocals.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Okay. I'm a big vocal head. No, he knows that my silence always means judgment. That's his silence. Whenever I'm just like, that shit's mid bro. Yeah. i'm just quite quietly editing out the okay okay no i said to sneeze no sorry man i got like a sinus thing going on maybe i'm
Starting point is 00:32:37 finally catching covid army dreamers okay i would have loved it if you were like the only Kate Bush song I have on my Spotify is Glycerine or Machine Head. Oh man. I bet Gavin Rossdale is stoked about that. He finally got a number one with that Kate Bush
Starting point is 00:33:01 song. He thinks Bush and then an artist called kate yeah that that kate bush collab or something all right well let's let's check in i wasn't here for monday's episode i am just now getting this is this is going to be my first time i i have avoided kuchela as much as possible other than you know hearing from my parents who were staying with me that they were like man that's pretty bad huh pretty bad yeah the the day the sixth was bad huh um so yes kuchela night one we saw that it was just basically receipts were flying and it was like a tease.
Starting point is 00:33:46 They're like, just so you know, this is what we're going to get into over the course of these next few hearings. Night two, there was even more. Really, again, like we said on yesterday's episode, it's nothing we didn't know or suspect. Right. Like we we could see the way Trump was talking. We read the reports that he was leaning on different people to try and get certain things to happen. It just, we're now getting in a more like official, like here are evidentiary findings. So the first thing about night two that caught people's attention was that the committee says they got the goods in the sense that they say they have uncovered enough evidence for DOJ to consider a criminal indictment against Donald Trump for seeking to overturn the election.
Starting point is 00:34:32 They feel that they they have like that's not really that's not a question at this point. And they also in this report from AP says, quote, additional evidence is to be released in hearings this week. quote, additional evidence is to be released in hearings this week. Democrats say that will demonstrate that Trump and some of his advisors engaged in, quote, a massive effort to spread misinformation, pressured the DOJ to embrace his false claims and urged Mike Pence to reject the state electors and block the vote. But take that with a couple of shakers of salt, since the DOJ also refused to charge Mark Meadows with misdemeanor contempt. And you're like, well, when do you keep people accountable? But again, I have no idea what their legal strategy is. I'm not a fucking
Starting point is 00:35:07 legal expert, so I'll believe shit when I see it. Yeah, you won't hear it, listening audience, but Jack did just edit out a minute of him snickering at the possibility of this
Starting point is 00:35:23 actually having some sort of happy ending yeah right i mean that is partially how i feel like i think we're getting some good color like later i think we learned that rudy giuliani was drunk like when we thought he was drunk but it's just like funny to hear the actual details of like what was going on it does seem like their strategy in my like kind of just taking a step back and looking at what what people seem to think of the takeaways from the first couple nights the strategy seems to be like proving that he knew he lost yeah yeah that he's not that he's not stupid like he's not being like no i really
Starting point is 00:36:06 thought the the election was getting taken from me not fair like that that's bullshit that he knew he lost so now every every bit of effort was put into just altering reality in his favor by strange position to be in right like we're here to prove that he's not stupid right well yeah and it also seems to open up the possibility that he just keeps doubling down and publicly saying no i don't know that i lost because i didn't lose and they're big steal fake news and like i don't know like that so that's why it's good for me to hear like that there might be some strategy going on more broadly. Sure. I mean, I'm sure if, you know, they're probably they're like, whatever, Peter Navarro, probably not big enough for them to put the like put the screws on them quite yet. Whereas Mark Meadows is chief of staff. Maybe they're like, no, we'll let some more stuff come out and then we'll turn up the heat and see if now if he's ready to talk or whatever.
Starting point is 00:37:04 stuff come out and then we'll turn up the heat and see if now if he's ready to talk or whatever that could but that's me that's off of me just watching really cool mob films you know what i mean i don't know but make him sing is that you're picturing yeah garland like just in the background make him sing boys yeah mark meadows no no he mark meadows in interrogation room and merrick garland comes in if garlic merrick garland comes in and he's got a pitch pipe and he just goes that's your key now start singing got your ass no i don't think it's going to be like that but what is clear is that they are using republicans or non-partisan people to reinforce the message that we knew that was an l you You know, you're not hearing Democrats like their witnesses aren't Democrats right now or outwardly Democrat people like they're either
Starting point is 00:37:50 experts or they're Republicans themselves who are serving under Trump. So the next bit of thing that was going on, Bill Stepien, who is the 2020 campaign manager, probably knows a lot. You know, they're saying that, you know on on night two that he's likely to be pressed uh as a behind the scenes veteran of republican campaigns and to know what trump's inner circle knew about the results but then on monday morning it turns out that he can't appear to testify and everyone's like oh what his i believe his wife has built been labor so it ended up not being even as juicy as a lot of people were like, dude, what'd they say to him?
Starting point is 00:38:29 Because he's already testified. So that was like a little bit of a blip where people were like, he's going to testify. And then they're like, he has a family emergency. And my first thought was like, well, how many horse heads did he have in his bed when he woke up this morning? I mean, that technically is a family emergency because you got to hide all the horse heads from your wife so she doesn't get mad at you. Bill, are you buying horse heads again?
Starting point is 00:38:49 No, no, everything's good. I'm saying check the garbage can and you're going to find a bottle of castor oil in there. You know, she wasn't she wasn't due to be. That does work. Yeah, that does work. You know, I've seen people who are expecting and just like, okay, we're at the due date. Nothing's happening. Let's get, let's get things moving and moving. They did get. Yeah. Castrol Sintec. If I could get a rewrite on that one for you, Miles. tech oh i could get a rewrite on that one for you miles yeah um and then another another not revelation more of like a yeah no shit was that rudy giuliani was fucking waved on election night so drunk that he kept telling trump to declare victory despite there being many votes still left to count but was he actually drunk though and this is fantastic the way
Starting point is 00:39:45 the january 6 committee put this video together they basically did a side by side of people in the campaign talking about how drunk giuliani was along with giuliani's words and it just it just makes it makes rudy look worse somehow and just a caveat i'm gonna let these clips cook because it's kind of important to hear like the people who are speaking so you're gonna hear jason miller speak first who is the former trump campaign senior advisor and i believe the ceo of getter the twitter fucking clone that nobody uses so here's him being asked social others a few others. Oh, getter, the other Twitter quote that nobody uses. Got it. The other crap one.
Starting point is 00:40:27 And then you're also going to hear from Bill Stepien, too, who's the campaign manager. And all that commentary as it's happening. Just anything you're missing by just listening to the audio. And I will giggle. Was there anyone in that conversation who, in your observation, had had too much to drink? Okay, leading question. Mayor Giuliani. Tell me more about that.
Starting point is 00:40:50 What was your observation about his potential intoxication during that discussion about what the president should say when he addressed the nation on election night? And the mayor was definitely intoxicated, address the nation on election night? And the mayor was definitely intoxicated, but I do not know his level of intoxication when he spoke with the president, for example.
Starting point is 00:41:12 Have you partied any discussions with the people I mentioned, Mr. Steffi and Mr. Meadows, or anyone else, about whether the president should make any sort of speech on election night? I mean, I spoke to the president.
Starting point is 00:41:31 They may have been present, but the president spoke to the president several times that night. There were suggestions by, I believe it was Mayor Giuliani, to go and declare victory and say that we'd won it outright. It was far too early to be making any calls like that. Bill Stepien looks exactly like Anders Holm. Ballots were still being counted. Ballots were still going to be counted for days.
Starting point is 00:41:59 And it was far too early to be making any proclamation like that. I remember saying that... Passes to Gretzky. To the best of my memory, I was saying that we should not go and declare victory until we had a better sense of the numbers. And Gretzky's in his office, he scores! Okay. Yeah. That's just funny build-up for him to be like it.
Starting point is 00:42:22 I remember saying we should not declare victory since we don't know who fucking won. And that would kneecap democracy. It says a lot, right? Like all the people that are involved. No, clearly no one had the ability to speak truth to power or they did. And this is the thing you do see is that when they did, he didn't care. And that's right. You know, this is like there's countless testimonies from today from people who are in orbit of the administration, like whether they're from DOJ or like the RNC or whatever, being like, dude, there's fucking like no, there's nothing, dude.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Like Bill Barr, basically. And there was a clip of him saying it just showed how disconnected from reality he was when he kept insisting about these things happening so I also want to play this other one from acting attorney general in the sort of space between the election and the Jane in January 6 Richard Donahue who's just to get an idea of the desperation he told Trump multiple times that there was fucking nothing there and he basically said the second he like trump would realize the jig was up he just moved to another thing yeah just back on giuliani real quick i i do think it's interesting like just to view it from like there are thousands of people
Starting point is 00:43:39 at any given time and especially in a white house like this one where it is purely about like self enrichment and, you know, finding like thousands of people trying to get close to the president. The only one who could because they were the only one who was telling him what he wanted to hear was shit faced. Like that's that's the only reason we're talking about this. We're not talking about it because like Rudy Giuliani, you has a drinking problem and it's funny it's because he was giving like having meaningful conversations that would have like you know determined the the future of the country and whether there was a civil war but the fact that this is a person the Trump who like is only looking for whatever he wants to hear means that sometimes that is going to be the drunkest person in the room. And that's what we saw.
Starting point is 00:44:29 Yeah. Yeah. It's like, it's like the only person who thinks you're a terrible business idea is a guy high off cocaine next to you. And you're like, right. That's good.
Starting point is 00:44:37 Like, yeah, dude, I totally think we need like an N64 retro bar that also is like fucking karate classes, man. Oh oh man i thought you were using financial terminology i thought you were using financial terminology and then i realized what you had said and i actually immediately took out a loan i've already taken out a loan for that business yeah dude are you offering franchising options look i, I told you, Steven, I'm not interested.
Starting point is 00:45:06 It feels kind of weird for me to get involved in that business. But anyway, side of the ground up. That was a long walk. And you're so this is the former acting deputy attorney general. Yeah. Saying, look, this Trump came to me constantly saying, look at this. This is bullshit. Because at that point, Bill Barr's like, dude, I can't fucking like this is nonsense.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Like this, like it ain't happening. So the next guy comes in and he's having the same problem. And he looks like Vladimir Putin as played by Martin Short. Perspective and try to put it in very clear terms to the president. And I said something to the effect of, sir, we've done dozens of investigations, hundreds of interviews. The major allegations are not supported by the evidence developed. We've looked at Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada. We're doing our job.
Starting point is 00:45:54 Much of the info you're getting is false. And then I went into, for instance, this thing from Michigan, this report, about 68% error rate. thing from Michigan, this report, about 68% error rate. Reality is it was only.0063% error rate, less than 1 in 15,000. So the president accepted that. He said, okay, fine, but what about the others? And again, this gets back to the point that there were so many of these allegations that when you gave him a very direct answer on one of them he wouldn't fight us on it but he would move to another allegation oh man that just brought me back
Starting point is 00:46:31 that was that was like such a just like hearing a song from your childhood that just brought me back to like thinking about just remembering how trump's mind worked and like how yeah he would just use the internet as a never ending source of bullshit that he could just go from one to the next, to the next, to the next. He's no different than his supporters. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Or QAnon conspiracy theorists where they're so desperate for this thing to be true that they're like, fine. Okay. Maybe that, what about this whole other pile of bullshit excuses I have? Do any of these work and they say no and then it's like well then fucking mike pence is gonna have to fucking do
Starting point is 00:47:10 some shit then you know like it's clear how they're showing how he like all of the avenues he tried because they also played they also showed a card of the amount of legal l's he took to like 62 cases all fucking l's like not a single one that he raised in court he won and to show like so it exhausted those options these options to the point where it would basically be like the sixth is our last shot it's like being told that santa claus isn't real and you're like okay cool cool cool cool cool easter Bunny, though. That's cool, right? That's definitely true, right? He does his thing, right? No.
Starting point is 00:47:48 Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. Tooth Fairy, though, huh? Right. Well, the Tooth Fairy can't get under my pillow. There's no fucking way. I mean, go to sleep tonight. I'll put whatever you want under your pillow to show you how easy it is. No, you won't.
Starting point is 00:48:00 No, you won't. Okay, fine. Watch this. I'm predicting the Tooth Fairy will a an ace of spades playing card underneath your pillow tonight lucky guess lucky guess it's not you it's not here look at this ziploc bag it's all your teeth i have your parents trying to convince okay okay okay okay okay fine fine fine fine fine tooth fairy not real but but chupacabra, huh? Chupacabra?
Starting point is 00:48:27 And then they're like, actually, yeah, that is it. Yeah, don't do it! Those goats, you've seen what happens to them. But, yeah, again, we're seeing time after time, like, in really stark, you know, terms, how just, how, what
Starting point is 00:48:44 we thought it was. There were people being like there's nothing there and he's like i don't give a fuck we're gonna keep going the next thing and the next thing until the point where you've like shed all the like people who you know like are connected to reality and like again yeah you're left with people like peter navarro and rudy giuliani because peter navarro they also said in another testimony where another, a lawyer had told Peter Navarro that the fraud stuff wasn't like adding up. And he accused this person of being a fed with the deep state. And the guy was like, what?
Starting point is 00:49:15 You know what I mean? He's like, no, motherfucker. I'm just telling you what the shit is. But that shows you the mindset of a lot of the, like the people who were getting very close are the ones who are so invested in this working despite it not one final thing just want to leave people with is the idea about the remember the trump official election defense fund right okay he was just doing just num bonkers numbers with fundraising off of like, they're trying to steal the election
Starting point is 00:49:46 from me. Give me all you got, baby. I'm just going to play this like clip that they played at the end of the hearing today from one of the investigators who was looking like I probably like a financial forensics person looking into what the defense fund was. And I'm just going to play this whole clip just so you can kind of hear that this is like one of the last big sound bites of the day for conservative news to not play. to Trump supporters, sometimes as many as 25 a day. The emails claimed the, quote, left-wing mob was undermining the election, implored supporters to, quote, step up to protect the integrity of the election, and encouraged them to, quote, fight back.
Starting point is 00:50:36 But as the select committee has demonstrated, the Trump campaign knew these claims of voter fraud were false, yet they continued to barrage small dollar donors with emails, encouraging them to donate to something called the Official Election Defense Fund. The select committee discovered no such fund existed. So now you're going to hear testimony from people that were in the campaign staff. This first one is a Trump campaign staffer. I don't believe there is actually a fund called the Election Defense Fund. Did the first say the Election Defense Fund was another, I think we called it a marketing
Starting point is 00:51:09 tactic? Yes. And tell us about these funds as marketing tactics. Just a topic matter where money could potentially go to be, how money could potentially be used. The claims that the election was stolen were so successful, President Trump and his allies raised $250 million, nearly $100 million in the first week
Starting point is 00:51:32 after the election. Okay. Now I kind of get the strategy. That starts to make sense to me. If they are knowingly lying, and if they eventually have somebody or some evidence where he's like, yeah, no shit, it's bullshit. But just we're making loads of money here.
Starting point is 00:51:51 Scratch. Right. Then I could see how that would be disqualifying or at least make it so that they're like, look, man, you need to give all these people their money back because you were knowingly like that. That sounds like fraud to me right uh telling people a fake thing a fake thing for their money's going to and then it's just going to something else but yeah and then i feel like he would rather not give money back like not he would rather not give 250 million dollars back than just than anything so that dude really likes this stuff yeah he's really into it loves some moolah the spy magazine story that comes up
Starting point is 00:52:36 a lot but i think it's worth repeating that they did a thing in the 80s when they were like sending refunds refund checks to all the various like supposedly richest men in new york and the dollar amount got lower and lower and lower and they wanted to see like who would keep cashing the checks and the only person who cashed the checks up to the very end up to like the two cent mark was donald trump so he yeah he likes the money to a pathological degree that doesn't exactly you know it exists in reality and so could be back that two cents could have got you a full tank of gas that's right. Before Biden came in. This guy, this bozo. Thank you. All right. Let's take a quick break.

Starting point is 00:55:46 where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day,
Starting point is 00:56:03 and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture.
Starting point is 00:56:32 Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:56:48 I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110. 120. She's terrified.
Starting point is 00:57:04 Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this?
Starting point is 00:57:19 We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:57:53 And we're back and there's been a couple like viral videos from librarians i mean more than a couple librarians or absolute content machines as as you well know we've all known forever just highlighting how much just sheer net weight of books in the library are written in quotes by james patterson james patterson is just one of one of those names that i've always like sue grafton was one when i was younger i don't know if she still writes but it was like uh oh i've got a okay sue grafton uh my favorite author author of the um those alphabet books yes died before she could release z and it's one of the most heartbreaking things i've ever heard i don't know really she did 25 books and then died oh yeah y came out in 2017 and she passed away in 2017 a is for alibi as we all know b is of course for burglar c is for corpse d is for deadbeat okay girl all right go off sis but but that like james patterson books were in like that section of my living room growing up right you know just crime crime novels
Starting point is 00:59:15 they i think the closest there's been to one that had like crossover appeal to non dime rack paperback novels is the Alex Cross books. There was a movie, Alex Cross, starring Tyler Perry, that failed to catch fire as Medea, starring Tyler Perry as Medea. But another thing that James Patterson did recently was he started teaming up with celebrities to write books starring idealized fantasy versions of the celebrities starting with bill clinton so this is the we talked about that like yeah that's
Starting point is 00:59:51 the only other time we've talked about james patterson on this show um he wrote a book with bill clinton that was like the president is like his wife disappears and he, he gets to like, he's an action hero, but are you doing bill pitching the book? That's what you sound like. That's, I think that's kind of how it went. It was just like a fantasy where Hillary disappears and he gets to live life
Starting point is 01:00:18 as like a James Bond type figure. I think it was called the president is missing. It's mysterious. Oh, hell yeah. The most recent is with Dolly Parton. Dolly. Run, Rose, Run. And yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:33 It's about an aspiring country singer named Annie Lee moves to Nashville trying to shake a dark past and gets help from a charismatic country star ruth anna who wears wigs fake nails and is dolly parton essentially so he helps somebody be like would you ever wish you could do if you were if you could do anything else but then she's she's still like i don't know be a country music singer like bill clinton's like exactly president without a wife? Like, oh, shit. All right. This might be on the nose, but OK. Why is he in? I mean, aside from doing novels that aren't great, like what are we learning now about him?
Starting point is 01:01:14 So he's currently promoting a new autobiography and is making headlines for claiming that the world is especially hard these days on older white male authors which he claims is another form of racism yeah that that's a quote another form of racism he made 80 million dollars in 2020 oh the year 2020 alone you fuck get out of here. So I feel like I feel like the world has been less and less kind to one of the greatest old white man authors. God, his popularity has been a great white male. And is that fair? I don't know. I don't think so. Who's to say?
Starting point is 01:02:04 Who's to say whether it is or is not a form of racism? Only God. And there we go. How clever. I made $80 million. Get out of here. So this dude, he's also been making a lot of money for a long time. Before he was a paperback writer, he worked in the ad business.
Starting point is 01:02:24 He is the one who helped write, and note that they said helped write, not fully authored. I don't want to grow up. I'm a Toys R Us kid. That's the work of James Patterson. No matter how hard I try, I can't get
Starting point is 01:02:39 COVID. That one? Oh, you know that one. Yeah, yeah. The alt alt version he crawled so push a t could run with i'm loving it right but he he also so he doesn't write most of his books probably if i had to guess any of them at this point he utilizes a team of ghost writers and reportedly sees himself like a showrunner of a tv show like hans emmerich with his story right it's interesting when you look at his books because some of them are they just say james patterson and those could be like the vc andrews sort of situation where it's actually somebody
Starting point is 01:03:24 else but then there are these other ones that are are James Patterson and then the title of the book. And then in little letters, it's like, and Byron. Right, right, right. And I'm Byron. No last name. Yeah, it's like the font itself indicates that it's and byron but yeah he has so many but he's just because of this model he's able to just churn out so many books no individual james patterson novels considered one of the 150 bestsellers since 2004 but he has the most
Starting point is 01:03:59 books that are technically bestsellers he's's considered one of the most bestselling authors ever, which is an awkward turn of phrase, but I think like they had to put that together because he's like, he's one of the most bestselling authors, but he's not like his books aren't ever very, don't ever sell that much. He's just like, got it down to a science he's published 260 times bestsellers but he's also i don't know he just has all the hallmarks of like i i would assume that when it comes to the people who actually write his books they're not getting paid like tv writers who have the benefit of like a union and you know their names being on the works that they actually write. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:46 Who knows? Yeah. So in, in 2009, Stephen King called him a terrible writer. And in 2016, Patterson announced he was publishing a novella called the murder of Stephen King,
Starting point is 01:04:57 a Stephen King stalker who wants to kill him eventually like withdrew. That's pretty cool. Yeah. I'll give it. I guess that is like the novelist equivalent of like a diss track right exactly i don't yeah check out this like this the tale of addy dawn right you know what i mean this the murder of steven king like whoa whoa wow you might be right steven like He really might be in this Push It tea bag. Just really like, oh, you are hiding a child. Whoa. Whoa.
Starting point is 01:05:30 They overlap more than I even originally thought. He was also sued by an ex-girlfriend for stealing her ideas. She had to drop her case because she ran out of money to pay her lawyers. And this is America. Which means he's innocent. Right. The person who has more money to pay her lawyers. And this is America. Which means he's innocent. Right. The person who has more money to pay lawyers is innocent. But just the details of her claims,
Starting point is 01:05:51 like kind of ring, like kind of are indicative, if true, of the sort of person who would build a literature empire on the backs of people he pays like shit. So after they started dating patterson asked for help in fleshing out the characters christine johnson the love interest for alex cross uh in the detective thriller i don't even have to say the name we all know it cat and mouse yeah
Starting point is 01:06:16 he'd write the alex character she'd write christine she said and patterson would dedicate the book to her but what she didn't so he's very stingy again with the by lines he's like and i'll say that i like you inside cover what she didn't realize she claims was that he was secretly poaching ideas and phrases from her letters and from her own novel based on her life patterson had promised to help get her book published but then used the material family stories descriptions of the horse farm where she grew up skiing trips for several of his best sellers um oh you fuck wow so i mean i'd expect nothing less who's like just sees himself and is like i'm more of like a idea collector than a writer right a cure yeah shorty i just used your life for my profit yeah so on the one hand the stephen king
Starting point is 01:07:06 thing is cool on the other hand maybe not a cool boss i feel like it might be tough to write novels for him also it's just there's something like dishonest and the all devouring capitalism of it all that like these are probably like good authors who are writing or at least like authors that people like could enjoy and be like oh i want to read more of their work but instead like it's all being just bastardized and turned into like a patterson novel like he he's just the only author like the brand he's just created a brand where he's the only author and all like promising up-and-coming crime writers he's just like yeah you write for me now kid back to the stealing from his girlfriend that's also like because
Starting point is 01:08:00 the the easy way is to do what he does and just hire ghost writers but like going combing through her stuff and pulling things out like that's not the easiest thing to do it's still like the creatively bankrupt thing to do but like that takes maliciousness that takes effort to like pull somebody's work like that and put it into your own when he could just be like throw money at a guy and have him write something featuring he's probably he's probably just like such lizard brained like i'm here to get mine that every relationship he looks at is a way to like extract something for himself you know like whether that's the people he writes with or that write for him or even a relationship if those things there's like no my it's in my nature to just
Starting point is 01:08:49 if there's something to take i'm gonna just take that right he reminds me a little bit of scott adams if you've ever done research into dilbert creator scott adams he he's kind of got i don't know and they kind of create for the same sort of broad spectrum of American consumers. And he seems to. Yeah. Yeah. I read for people who definitely aren't disturbed by homophobia, racism or xenophobia. Right.
Starting point is 01:09:18 That's it. They're just not disturbed by it. I don't know the other stuff that's fill in the blank, but we know where we're at. Yeah. So anyways, don't don't know the other stuff that's fill in the blank but we know where we're at yeah so anyways don't don't buy james patterson now i need it now i know i'm sure lydia popovich is gonna read the dolly parton one so i'm i'm curious to hear her take a review yeah a true dolly fan be like this is nonsense or or maybe it's great maybe it's the you know the exact pairing that we needed it's like wait this like her biography, but they just swapped the name out. Right. Wait, people speculated for a long time that Rose Ruth was had her body covered in tattoos, which is why she never showed her bare arms.
Starting point is 01:09:58 I think this is second. And then created her own theme park butterfly land oh man there's a we have a a lot of cause for a trip to tennessee one of these days dollywood is that what it's called dollywood dollywood mountain dew park whatever that is although i think that's only temporary. Oh, yeah, count the Dew Post or whatever, or something like that. Yeah, well, dreams, they come and go, Jack.
Starting point is 01:10:31 That's true. With this podcast, it remains. You can do a live zeitgeist. Yeah. Yeah, live zeitgeist from Nashville. Do a live one from Dollywood. Yeah. From Dollywood. Boston, Tennessee.
Starting point is 01:10:40 Yeah. Well, Stephen, such a pleasure having you, as always. Where can people find you, follow you, all that good stuff? I am at Wilbur with an E on most things. Well, just Twitter and Instagram. Yeah. Can I plug things? Yeah, please. Okay, so in a couple of days, on Thursday the 16th, I'll be at the Rendezvous Theater in Seattle, sunny Seattle, for a comedy show. And then on Monday the 20th, I'll be in Portland for a show that I call Spaghetti Wall,
Starting point is 01:11:23 which is me just trying to do some stuff and see if it works but i've also got uh great comics on that so if i fail like it'll at least be an okay show and you can get tickets for that it's at the siren theater on monday the 20, and you can get tickets at sirentheater.com. There you go. Okay. Yeah. Is there a tweet or some of the work of social media you've been enjoying? You know, I just want to give a shout out to Chicago golden boy, Aaron Klopfer, who, at Aaron underscore Klopfer on Twitter. He always, uh,
Starting point is 01:12:05 he's a, he used to live in Portland for a little bit and then he moved back to Chicago. He cracks me up when he had one. Where is it? Oh, don't talk to me until I've had my weekly PTSD treatment, ketamine nasal spray. Don't even talk to me.
Starting point is 01:12:21 I put that on a shirt. Uh, miles, where can people find you? What is the tweet you've been enjoying? Oh, my goodness. You can find me on Twitter and Instagram at Miles of Gray. Also, check out the other podcasts. Miles and Jack got mad. Boosties.
Starting point is 01:12:40 We're talking NBA finals. We've got some nice guests coming up. And also 420 Day Fiance. If you like coming up. And also 420 Day Fiance. If you like 90 Day, check out 420 Day Fiance. Some tweets that I like. Let's see. Oh, so this is a great one because I don't know if you saw that group of Patriot Front dudes who were fucking inside of a U-Haul trying to disrupt a Pride celebration.
Starting point is 01:13:01 And the cops just opened it. And they were all like with their hands up they're like please don't brutalize me policeman and turned into the scared shiba inu meme and tressie mcmillan caught him at tressie mcphd tweeted uh what no one can explain to me to my satisfaction is why these fascist cosplay people have so much free time and travel money? Well, that's because other people are putting up that money. But yes, it does seem like that. It's like, what?
Starting point is 01:13:32 Y'all all got together over there? Okay. And I have one more. Where'd it go? Oh, this is just a visual one. Saeed Jones tweeted, I'm shook. And it's this picture of, okay, I don't know if people watch Living Single, but it's John Henton who played Overton. And then he's, and then Regine, who was like the other character. And the tweet is John Henton who played Overton, Sinclair's TV boyfriend, but he was actually Regine's boyfriend in real life.
Starting point is 01:13:58 And I couldn't believe, I had no idea. And that's just some old washed 90s Living Single stuff for you. Were they like a different age or it was just the, no, just because he was Sinclair's boyfriend on the show. And when you're like, it was like one of those things because we didn't have the internet and they're like,
Starting point is 01:14:14 no, in real life, he's with regime. And you're like, they hate each other though. Wow. Yeah. The fuck?
Starting point is 01:14:22 It's crazy, man. Hate to ruin y'all week like that, but sorry you can find me on twitter at jack underscore o'brien a couple tweets i've been enjoying breck uh becca greenberg tweeted women may friend zone men but men mommy zone women and that's worse in my opinion it's very true benji sarlin tweeted have we had the great remote work catfishing story yet is there like a 12 year old who made middle management at a fortune 500 company pretending
Starting point is 01:14:51 to be their dad which i yeah that that i feel like that has to have happened and maybe the kid was just so successful we haven't found out about it yet but i mean it's the other version it's just a very mediocre dude yeah has managed to like end up at heights we've never could fathom but i do like that is the kind of like it's like blank check almost like what that movie was like as a kid where it's like dude this kid's living like a fucking adult yeah it's just a kid at a zoom call with one of those talk boys hi kids we're home early yeah he just learns how to like use like he put those snapchat filters on his like webcam so it just aged his face john you're muted their dad's like a deadbeat and like goes on a gambling binge and they like come in and like fill in for him to try and make sure he doesn't lose the job.
Starting point is 01:15:47 That's so fucked up. It's like Weekend at Bernie's, but because capitalism is so fucking brutal, you have to assume your father's identity to keep the toil up for your family to survive. It's actually not a comedy at all. And then the dad comes back and he's like, wait a second, you're killing it, man.
Starting point is 01:16:04 You're going to stick in there for a little bit. I'll do your homework. Hey, you got any extra scratch for your old man? The ponies are about to run in 30 minutes down at the OTB. Oh, no. Sounds like a Jane Patterson novel. I mean, Jane Patterson. Jane Patterson, the much more talented sister.
