I'm Keri Champion,
and this is season four of Naked Sports.
Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry.
Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese.
Every great player needs a foil.
I know I'll go down in history.
People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game.
Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports.
Listen to the making of a rivalry.
Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese on the iHeart on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you
get your podcast presented by elf beauty founding partner of iheart women's sports hello the internet
and welcome to this episode of falc trend heavy play on falcon heavy which is the big old spaceship
the rockets yeah they're gonna be sending up into space to uh look at this big asteroid
we'll get into it it's a it's an interesting piece of pro-capitalism propaganda that i think
we'll be seeing more and more of so oh i love that yeah love that for us need space hey
propaganda oh hey is it is that miles yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's back.
Hey, guys, I'm currently scrubbed in at the hospital, but I figured I'd pop in for trends.
Now, we're still the countdown is still continuing.
So I appreciate everybody's well wishes that I received because I received an influx of messages.
They're like, oh, my God, he's on the show.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Not yet.
You'll know. You'll know. You'll know. Day know day by day day by day but yes i'm here thanks for
having me back even though even though a day only passed in between that's right um all right so
this article in the daily star so already kind of notoriously bullshit news source but i wanted
to highlight the way they're covering this because they're
talking about this spacex mission that is going to fly up to the biggest asteroid in the solar
system this asteroid alone makes up one percent of the mass of our galaxy's asteroid belt whoa
called psyche it's just massive and the the way they're talking about it. So they're sending all this valuable stuff up there because the size and
makeup of the asteroid gives it an estimated worth of 10 quintillion
dollars,
more than 70,000 times the current worth of the entire global economy.
And what is the weight?
So they're saying like,
we need this asteroid for
basically like as a justification for just as a justification for like space travel
that hey there's a lot of like good that's a monetizable asteroid it's not just for
bettering our understanding of where our place in the cosmos but it's just like we can have 70 000 times more inequality on this planet
70 000 times more stuff that people can sell and buy which is really what we need how far is the
like so the rocket is meant to go and like a probe or something is gonna land on this asteroid or
some shit yeah and then they're gonna you know just kick it there for a little bit and pull off little pieces and figure out break off a little billion dollar nugs yeah just break off
some nugs but i feel like that is going to be a thing we'll see is like we're visiting this
thing in space it's a cloud that has 10 000 times the amount of water that we have on our
planet without like really any reference like well how how do you think you'll get that back
and i don't know man but fuck bro it's just sitting up there man 10 quintillion 10 quintillion
what the fuck like all this space propaganda
is probably just gonna sound like like
Columbus's letters back to like Spain or
some shit right you know what I mean
oh my god dude
these fucking people
they're scared of our swords
and there's like gold lying around
get over here now
it's uh yeah I'm sure I'm sure it was in like a slide deck from spacex or
something that's just like okay let's do the math on this how much would it be if we could just like
transport that stuff uh that's pretty pretty nice little payday what is it made of like nfts or something yeah it's just made of pure 100 pure uncut nft pure yeah fucking
ape fucking nfts is up there yeah oh man so they think it's made of uh mostly iron and nickel
which other asteroids are largely made of rocks and ice so they think this one might be the
leftover core of a proto planet that tried to form billions of years ago and just got demolished.
Yeah.
So, hey, we'll learn more.
But it's not good enough to be just learning more.
We are also going to be profiting more.
We're going to be catching more.
You know what I mean?
All of us.
Remember, when we say amounts like that in the
news that means all of us are gonna get it not just three people oh you thought we had hyper
inequality now wow wait till you see when hyper space inequality when elon musk brings back just
a giant broke he's broke he's gonna be down here with all of us he's gonna be like billy zane on titanic
he's like please and we're like your money won't save you now musk all right marie kondo people are
like wait what happened she was our favorite she she told us to do clean yeah where'd she go
she there okay so she did this like recent like was in a profile in the washington post last week and she basically talked about how she's kind of shifting like her priorities
have shifted a bit she said quote i've kind of given up on that in a good way for me talking
about like the organizational thing that she was first known for quote now i realize that
now i realize what is important to me is enjoying spending time with my children at home and people are like you
fucking fraud how fucking dare you what about us i had kids and i was condoing my fucking shit
how how how and it's just like people like yo hold your fucking horses here what like what what what
what did you think she was what did you need her to be for you uh and also
as many people point out she was 27 and had no children when she was doing her like when she
came to prominence with her like you know life-changing magic of tidying up and a lot of
people like wild i had no idea she was that young yeah very and then they're like yeah 12 years later
and like with your third kid people fucking change and maybe mean, it doesn't mean to say she's like saying, yes, everything I said was a lie, but people are like taking it like that. It's just very odd. There's like, there's some interesting, uh, in Jezebel, there's just sort of interesting analysis just about how like some people are like very kind of quickly revealing themselves and being like, where was this prototypical type a asian woman i needed to be my guide through my life but also thinking of like
how emotionally charged even the topic of like organizing a home is and how that's tied to gender
roles and things like that so it's like a very complex thing but it's like a very internet moment
where this person's like yeah 12 years in for me personally,
I'm more focused on this now.
And they're like,
but,
but you can't be what?
So your kids spark joy,
right?
I got rid of my kids.
Cause they did.
It's I feel like Tucker Carlson is going to have a hard time with this.
Cause this strikes me as something that people who have strong,
like mother issues would
would have a problem with you know right and as we know his his mom left the family for some hippies
or something for the hippie lifestyle and we've been we've all been fucked ever since um all right
there was a there was a big controversial moment in the Lakers-Celtics game
where, I don't know, it feels like the Lakers have been getting fucked over
on some last-second calls of late.
In this case, LeBron drove to the basket, was putting up a lefty layup,
very straightforward, and just got slapped on his hand,
on his arm as he was releasing it.
Like, just straightforward.
Could be the platonic definition of a shooting foul.
And, you know, this happens a lot,
but it's just wild because he knew it was a foul immediately.
The refs immediately after the game admitted it was a
foul the announcers knew like what was that they're like wow that was yep that's a that's a clear foul
and then the statement from like the refereeing union has come out and they're like ah it's it's
gut-wrenching man real gut punch you know yeah yeah i mean for the lowly laker fans who absolutely could have used a
win in boston which looked like would have been possible had that foul been called because the
game was tied and then that was zero send it to overtime yeah like what i don't know i'm dead
inside as a laker fan so i'm just kind of oh yeah but i'd be lying if if i'd say that didn't kill me
one more time as i watched the game because it was it was
so clear and then i don't know if you saw lebron tag jason tatum on instagram he's like today still
yeah he's like nice block jason and then like he even replied and he's like hey i'm sorry champ
like the kind of cringy like harsh smile emoji right so whatever i mean it is what it is and apparently lebron's has been
telling him he's like just stop talking to the refs it's not gonna make a fucking difference
like this is how they want to call it because then i mean on like lakers twitter too there
was like even the jump ball even before that was like wildly like favored the celtics so it's a
there's a lot going on we got a lot going on right now yeah it's one of those things
where like as the moment was about to happen it was like a timeout four seconds left lakers ball
i was like man i hope it doesn't like hope the refs don't mess this up blow this yeah because
lebron just got downhill and then i go here we go this is either a bucket or it's a foul
because like half the team went to go guard him and then yeah yeah anyway hear more about this on moz and jack got mad boosties where i will
continue to scream into the void yeah all right let's take a quick break we'll be right back
i'm jess casaveto executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult.

Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job?
Girl, yes.
Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your
work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do,
like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get
the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote,
what is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself.
Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career
without sacrificing your sanity or sleep.

I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection
of sports and culture.
Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese.
I know I'll go down in history.
People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game.
Every great player needs a foil.
I ain't really near them boys.
I just come here to play basketball
every single day,
and that's what I focus on.
From college to the pros,
Clark and Reese have changed the way
we consume women's sports.
Angel Reese is a joy to watch.
She is unapologetically black.
I love her.
What exactly ignited this fire?
Why has it been so good for the game?
And can the fanfare surrounding
these two supernovas be sustained?
This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better.
This new season will cover all things sports and culture.
Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network,

The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke.
And we're back.
And Florida has a new dress code for the state legislature.
Yeah, it's really something.
Like, they unveiled new rules.
And anybody who went to a religious private school or where there were
like really weird uniform rules it's pretty much mirroring that it says when there are members in
the chamber the only thing people can wear are a suit that's a pantsuit for ladies or you know a
suit for men they're also like or you could wear a skirt with a jacket but that's it and then they
say when members are in the building, but not necessarily in the chamber,
then it's a little more relaxed.
But it's like a bunch of stock images of the most boring people you've ever seen.
Not really indicative of clothing people would wear.
And then when they're not in the building, more casual.
But they go on to say a the dress the skirt cannot be shorter than
one inch above the knee uh low-cut blouses or dresses are forbidden t-shirts with writing are
forbidden jeans with holes are forbidden men's shoes with no socks get out of here and you better
not be wearing leggings for slacks is another one leggings for slacks interesting um yeah it's like all these
all these pictures of very standard like they they do all look like they came off of the
you know just standard jc pennies oh yeah website but then they have this one that's just like a
real like dirty tie-dyed t-shirt yeah like what or like a crypto bro like with like who's like
dressed fashionably with ripped jeans i'm like i'm sorry who is in the state legislate is this
pointed at somebody who's like dude you know fucking eric that one crypto bro guy like he
keeps wearing fucking doge to the moon phrase shirts on the floor men's shoes with no socks is very specific that that leads
me to believe that this is somebody having an issue yeah and it's very patronizing or it's like
the kind of thing that like men wrote to be like hey and we're look we're dealing with it too i get
it we can't even go sockless okay so you know trust me i empathize with those who say these
rules are misogynistic or otherwise
the men are all suffering.
Hey,
look,
I want to show a little skin ladies.
I want to show a little skin with my,
uh,
you know,
sockless loafers.
Yeah.
I want people to see when I had surgery from when I ruptured my Achilles
tendon.
You can see that scar.
I think it's kind of cool.
I was playing lacrosse.
Like Duke.
Um, i don't
i didn't even know that sockless versus socks was a like sign of i don't know like conservative i
guess that makes sense right sockless especially in florida comes off as like miami vice aren't
they all boat shoe wearing fuckers anyway yeah that, that's what I was thinking. It feels like a boat shoe move.
Again, I think it's meant to throw,
like we're fixated on this weird thing
when really they're like,
and this is how ladies or female presenting people can dress.
These are the rules.
Because it's also happening in Missouri as well.
Some similar thing where like,
even like the members of the state legislature were like,
how are you going to fucking enforce this? Like someone someone is there like a hall monitor when we step in they're like
okay line up i'll do the ruler test i'll enforce it at gunpoint okay that's how i'll enforce it
so you better not come in here with boat shoes and no socks on with some holy jeans disloyal
one of trump's favorite words is trending because he came out and used it again
back at it again baby yep ron de santos he said well it's fine that he might want to run for
president he said i think it would be very disloyal of him he wouldn't be where he was
without me so that's something to think about to be very disloyal and then he was talking about how
like was taking shots at ron de santos saying like you know his he was talking about shutdown stuff
he's kind of lying about what how he really did it when it's like wait what are you trying to say that he
listened to you in april when you asked him to shut it down and then he did and then months later was
like i'm off this everyone can get sick but in either way the latest poll that this comment has
probably zero to do with um has ron de santa's ahead of trump by 13 points which i wonder if now pollsters like watch
we can induce a fucking quote out of him if we just reveal that ron desantis is ahead by any
measure yeah but that's the latest uh from him as he continues to be like yeah he shouldn't do it
he shouldn't do it he shouldn't do it i do wonder if they're because i mean we talked about the fact
that they did a thing where they were basically hiding the stats in the past for Florida.
So they were able to make it seem like they adjusted their policy or based their policy based on statistics that they were intentionally tamping down.
Like they were deflating the numbers of how many people were dying from COVID.
So I do wonder if that will be a thing that Trump tries to use like that when he's like how he did it.
It's real.
It's going to be weird.
There's no way we talked about how, you know, COVID stuff would probably be a culture war thing that Trump would lose to DeSantis over.
Right. Because he is. He still wants to claim vaccine credit. a culture war thing that Trump would lose to DeSantis over because,
right.
Because he is,
he still wants to claim vaccine credit,
you know,
but most people like when he's brought it up,
he's been booed at his own fucking rallies for even saying the word vaccine.
And Ron DeSantis is out here being like,
I don't even know if they work,
you know? Right.
And I think we got to get rid of them.
And yeah,
I feel like,
you know,
even though I was halfway dead off COVID and you heard me give that really weird speech when i was sick i don't
believe in them and yeah i think that's what he's going to point to to just sort of you know he
didn't get the vaccine he hasn't said that but everyone's like right he probably did yeah he
probably got it right but now he's
like has like you know people who are openly questioning the vaccine as like part of like
this advisory group to help the state understand if like they need to investigate the the cdc or
that even covet is a thing that we should have been scared about in the first place
millions of people who are living with long covet would uh argue otherwise but yeah the fact that
our life expectancy in this country it's like gone down multiple years in a row probably has
nothing to do with it it's a blip it's nothing to pay nothing to worry about folks anyways what a
what a time it will be when trump and desantis show. It's gonna be ugly. Yeah.
Bubba Spark style ugly.
Because, man,
Trump in a corner
with zero shame?
Like, whoa, fuck.
Or it'll just be embarrassing. Who knows?
But we'll all have to be there for it.
And then Zachary Levy,
Levi,
I'm not sure how to pronounce his name because I've never said it out loud before.
Levi.
Levi.
Like of the Genes Empire, maybe.
Yes.
I don't know.
He was recently, you know, he's got the sequel to his sole big movie role coming up, Shazam.
And Shazam 2 is coming and he posted on twitter
uh somebody was like do you agree or not that pfizer is a real danger to the world
and zachary levi responded hardcore agree straight face like just you know a horizontal line for mouth emoji and people were like wait
does this mean he's anti-vax and in the immediate aftermath people were like oh oh yeah he's he is
a huge jordan peterson fan alleged racist and sexist uh self-described libertarian you know what these words mean
yeah coward racist that's what you mean by libertarian there there is a zachary levi
joe rogan episode where you get zachary levi's thoughts on the johnny depp trial uh let me guess
i actually haven't listened to it uh gawker, the new Gawker, by the way.
Very good.
George from Stradio Lab is one of the editors there.
And it's great.
But they wrote, if you're looking to cause brain injury without any physical pain, I recommend it with regards to the Zachary Levi's appearance on the Joe Rogan episode.
But so when I first saw this and was not aware that Zachary Levi was a libertarian piece
of shit, I was like, yeah, no, that's I think I would agree with the Pfizer.
That question.
Do you agree Pfizer is a real danger to the world?
Yeah, I think all like massive pharmaceutical companies are pretty dangerous.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that was the direction he went with,
which I'm assuming has to do with the fact that he's about to head out on a
tour for,
you know,
a publicity tour for Shazam fury of the gods in six weeks and doesn't want to
have to be answering questions about that.
But,
but I bet he's going to be asked.
He's like researching.
He comes out like, he's like, yeah, I just think all medicine should be free right yeah you're like what are you sure nah that was
painful to say man it's it's making everybody weird and you know how they're getting the shakes
from the vaccine yeah you've seen it i've do your research do your own research that's all i'm saying do your own research the ultimate sign
that you're dealing with uh a right wing chad do your own research okay here it is yeah he
ultimately tweeted a link to a 2009 doj press release announcing pfizer would have to pay
2.3 billion for fraudulent marketing so that's what he was talking about, actually, was their fraudulent marketing. It was nothing to do with his anti-vax status.
Okay.
All right.
Well, those are some of the things
that are trending on this Monday, January 30th.
We are back tomorrow
with the whole last episode of the show.
Until then, be kind to each other.
Be kind to yourselves.
Get the vaccine.
Don't do nothing about white supremacy.
And we will talk to y'all tomorrow.
Bye.
Bye.
