Starting point is 00:02:05 Jesus Christ. Yeah, 1700 episodes. Shout out to producer Justin. Super producer Justin was like, oh, by the way, this is coming up. I will not be here for it. Tomorrow,
Starting point is 00:02:21 Friday. Friday's episode will be the 1700th. Tomorrow's will be this 1699th 1699 1699 my favorite sexual position uh don't ask what it is it's a mess yeah yeah i'm just gonna say like what was happening and i'd imagine it's something to do with the year 1699 right right i like the 1699 you know what i mean um when there was a violent earthquake in java yeah yeah that's what it involves uh having people shake your bed uh it's a little like floating it's a little like you know uh anyways i'm jack yes Still Jack. Still got the khakis with the cuff and the crease from day one. Still. And I'm thrilled to be joined, as always, by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray!
Starting point is 00:03:14 Hey, man. Yeah. That's... It is... Right, man. 1700. Feels like number 17. You know, it does change here.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Yeah. We stay consistent. We stay consistent. Still don't know what the fuck I'm doing. Still. right still nervous as hell still nervous as hell and i still have sweat coming through the butt of my pants um do you sit in something dad yeah yeah yeah let's go with that dang stuff everywhere on my seat what must have sat on a uh fucking thing a watermelon or something i don't know man i think crud uh anyway that even mean um oh man got a couple hummingbirds going crazy in the backyard miles slow-mo video get it out i know i wish i was dude i know you're not lying because your eyes are sparkling like
Starting point is 00:04:06 you're looking at your one true love i know there's two of them there's two of them and they're just like a fucking disney prince couple hummingbirds just entered the uh entered the arena and yes whoo you ever hear one of those things fly by? Oh, yeah. Anyways, this episode is just going to be me doing hummingbird noises. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:36 All right. Miles, there were some primaries last night. Yeah. Big winners. Or not big winners. Really, just a bunch of losers yeah i guess the big story is like people far to the left and far to the right both uh had bad nights uh endorsed candidates did badly uh took bells in let's see utah south carolina colorado and it was all like the freakiest people like to like in south carolina there was like that black pastor he was calling for
Starting point is 00:05:11 teachers who were like supportive of lgbtq students or as he said pushing the agenda to be immediately terminated uh he also lied about having a degree or you know his completely obscured his military service um sounds like a trump candidate he uh did not survive no no no then in colorado there was also the state gop chair who's running for the house he also lost he was a trumpy dude too uh he was someone who also had uh sent an email from the like his official state gop account with an email that was titled god hates pride um so the culture war shit didn't didn't work for them but it all so being thrown in with that as like and guess who else lost representative jamal bowman one of the squad uh he lost uh and this is a stinging rebuke
Starting point is 00:06:07 for the squad and like it's being put in with the trump stuff as as if like people are just too naturally rejecting the extremes and uh you know the the thing with jamal bowman's cases it turns out it was the most that was ever spent on a house race and the reason for that is because he was a fucking primary not even for the general for a primary yes and that's because uh the american israel public affairs committee uh apac otherwise known as uh just spent an incredible amount because he was critical of israel um yeah and yeah and it's weird to see how some of the people are describing it's like and in his words you know his harsh criticisms like describing a genocide in gaza right um yeah
Starting point is 00:06:59 i mean the a victory for i don't know people who are fine again this is like the thing we talk about this is this is a pack right we're talking about an entire pack put together to be able to sway our congress to have the kinds of legislation that are favorable for this other country for israel that and so being so for people like wow is the most money spent i think you i think we need to examine that a little bit closer seems bad miles i mean a lot of people a lot of people said what if you put another country in there like yeah especially one that was you know from american foreign policy seen as adversarial like a russian pack backed congress person dumping on this pack dumping millions to get someone out yeah yeah it's it it's
Starting point is 00:07:47 really fucking strange um and i get that like that district is is like a very like you know you kind of have to it's not all just sort of one note there and it's kind of like a normie as some people describe it democrat area but also has parts of the bronx it's uh i don't know but like all the coverage around it has really just been like wow a rebuke of jamal bowman's extremism that's so fucking fucked the squad really has an egg on their face today more at 11 and you see other people say like in trump the two like yeah there are other people were just saying like you know biden needs all the support he can get so like we don't have time for people who are like not on board with the agenda and it's like this is the that's like the worst way to describe
Starting point is 00:08:33 like why jabal bowman should have been voted out and there are a lot of people who are very critical of latimer's time uh and his work he's done in Westchester County. So it's just the opponent who defeated him. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So that's a little bit more on a headline. You probably saw, um,
Starting point is 00:08:53 it's another headline that's making the rounds. Uh, it's so hot in DC. Lincoln's wax head melted off. Um, there's a wax statue in Washington, DC. People like it's so damn hot damn head fell off dang head melted that pet's heads are falling off our damn statues heads are melting off um
Starting point is 00:09:16 so the first question this raises is why their statue made of wax miles that's not one of the mediums sculptors usually work with yeah and i think while most people are like oh my god dude wax lincoln melted in the sun i think people don't realize too that this was like the work of an artist named sandy williams the fourth um and was just saying like apparently it's also a candle and it's just perfect sense i've never seen a large wax anything that shouldn't also probably be a candle as well you know yeah yeah uh they said the installation is quote a direct commentary on dc's history of civil war era contraband camps um so this is i don't know his his head fell off cool but the head was meant to fall off like that was part of the idea was that uh as a statement about how hot
Starting point is 00:10:15 how damn hot it's getting um yeah i don't know if it's necessarily about that i think but the thing was they just they like the the shifting nature of the wax statue was part of the intent of the artist you know just like yeah it's interesting it changes and it sure did change his damn head fell off our very own Brian the editor has
Starting point is 00:10:38 rated this one wank he said nah that's wank I put in a good word Sandy i put in a good word on behalf of your sculpture um you know and unfortunately it has been rated officially a wank uh brian just put his video on to give us the jack off hand motion so uh it's he hates wax statues though to be fair he's oh my god he hates him so much fucking wax madame tussauds he's fucking curious every time he goes you know he's mad his picture's up like
Starting point is 00:11:12 he can't go to any madame tussauds because i think he's actually jacking off because he just goes in makes the jack off hand motion so he's back so vigorously but yeah uh There's some new AI bullshit. A Toys R Us commercial looks like shit. What are they doing? They released an ad that was made using the AI text to video tool Sora. The ad shows us, they're like,
Starting point is 00:11:37 do you ever wonder where Toys R Us came from? No. Oh shit, sorry. Never mind mind the creating of the imagination of a young charles lazar i don't care i don't give a fuck not like this especially when they're like the first ever brand film created with sora that's what's so weird about this like i don't know why like i was trying to connect the dots like in terms of company ownership as to why they're using Toys R Us to so heavily brand it as this Sora thing. Because obviously you're only doing this because it benefits Open AI.
Starting point is 00:12:14 And Open AI, yeah. So who's got the stake in that that's like, oh yeah, I own Toys R Us. I can force them to debase themselves with the terrible AI brand film that they debuted at Cannes. Yeah. The Cannes Film Festival is usually followed, always followed pretty closely by the Cannes Ad Festival. For lack of a better description. Yeah, that's essentially what it is. It's not a good.
Starting point is 00:12:45 It's not good. I mean, I get that this thing was a little bit cleaned up, but they also had to use actual VFX artists to fix the weird fuck ups. Like his eyeglass, like the what do you call the arm of your eyeglasses frames? Yeah, the arms of the eyeglasses arms were like peeking like piercing through his ear like they would change like when the head would move because this always happens when you look at a lot of ai video like the child changed from one shot to the next it's just like a different person um and yeah the the glasses completely changed those those things were not cleaned up uh one thing we can tell they cleaned up is
Starting point is 00:13:25 they took a shot from an earlier Sora video that got changed around that featured a 1950s bicycle repair shop, or as it said in the Sora video, Biles
Starting point is 00:13:41 Repay Shop. Biles C Repay. Yeah. But anyway. uh toys r us is out of business in the sense that like there are no toys r us is in the united states uh there are macy's store i think yeah so now they're toys r us is basically the brand behind macy's toy section um and they do still have physical stores in canada um but in case you're wondering what the fuck's going on but even so like the thing that should be cool about this is like the so that the plot of the uh ad video brand video or whatever the fuck they're like the first ever sora created brand video'm like, I didn't know that was a thing.
Starting point is 00:14:25 So I'm less impressed. Um, but like, you would think that you'd be able to create cool, like a cool, the kid like dreams of a toy store. And then he's like floating through this, like dream toy store.
Starting point is 00:14:40 And the toys like suck and suck. The toys are fucking dog shit. they look like the kinds of toys like you know like when your grandparents don't know shit about toys and they're like i got you this toy and you're like what the fuck is this toy like object i got you this toy like object it's a little wind-up drumming man yeah you're like i'm 13 it's a bunch of like the like generic toy robots and then like sports balls and uh yeah too maybe it's the mind of someone in the 50s or whatever but like anyway it's just it's stupid it sucks for the side of man it's not good i get it but they got lead paint though which got that's true things pretty cool yeah pretty fun stuff uh all right let's take a quick
Starting point is 00:15:27 break we'll be right back i'm jess casavetto executive producer of the hit netflix documentary series dancing for the devil the 7m tiktok cult and i'm cleo gray former member of 7m films and shekinah church And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high-control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career,
Starting point is 00:16:45 you have a lot of questions, like how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice.
Starting point is 00:17:03 And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take?
Starting point is 00:17:18 Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports,
Starting point is 00:17:41 where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on.
Starting point is 00:18:00 From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better.
Starting point is 00:18:23 This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. And we're back. We're back. And Zemeckis is back. Bobby Z? Bobby Z. Rebecca back and zemeckis is back uh bobby z bobby z rebecca rebecca wow um he's dropped a trailer for his next film which seems very so what we can tell it's uh ring camera the movie uh because it's just a locked shot it's a unmoving camera in a single fixed location
Starting point is 00:19:08 in space and it takes place over the course of a thousand years yeah um which and uh like it starts like literally with like the dawn of the earth yeah dinosaurs and the asteroids and shit and then you end up with rob or like a babe he got forest and jenny back together he did yeah so hanks and right are back at it again uh they're a married couple and we like see them meet in this house that they're then like cursed to live in forever um i don't yeah like they as as teenagers they meet in this house then i guess tom hanks inherits the house from his dad or something um but all of the action i'm and i check the trailer out because if you don't like i know there's something like these filmmaking terms but like the camera is just basically in one position the entire film
Starting point is 00:20:04 there's there's no camera movement. So it really looks like you're watching a ring camera that has existed for millions of years and drama unfolds in front of it in this living room. Yes. And it's just in a living room. That's the thing. Living room looking out the front window. And yeah, it feels like he looked at the last 20 years of movies and effects and was like, you know what the coolest thing we have is?
Starting point is 00:20:27 I'm having that. De-aging technology. Yeah. The de-aging technology in The Irishman. Because that is the thing that it really seems to be taken advantage of. Zemeckis is, I mean, I'm sorry, man. You've fallen off, dude. What was the last, the last, like, maybe, like, Flight?
Starting point is 00:20:46 Flight, I think, was the last one that was, like, a passable film that people were like, yeah. Allied? I didn't see Allied, Welcome to Marwen, The Witches, or Pinocchio, which are his last things that he directed. I watched some of Pinocchio, and that one is a... Stinka? Disaster. Yeah. Straight up stinker.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Oh, that's right. And then he did that the walk movie where the dude who did the tightrope walk between the twin towers yes um george some gordon levitt yeah man yeah it's uh that one was a big was a big mess i think like how this is like the thing like how when we were and we've been like lamenting the film industry forever now but like i love that zemeckis is like here's my idea man it fucking this camera does not move like from the era of dinosaurs and it all plays out in front and like that's the weird thing that the studio is like all right all right yeah it's got tom hanks and robin wright okay the thing that like computer effects can do well is like make the camera move around and like in weird weird ways and fun ways and show you
Starting point is 00:21:53 things from angles that you'd never be able to see before um and this is like what if we didn't do that what if we just yeah stationary camera the film good luck man good luck yeah looks like shit uh unfortunately we'll we'll see though oh we still gotta see that coppola movie well i mean it's not out yet he's still got oh he's still got a secure distribution i'm like thinking of the last time we were talking about a movie that's coming out I'm like I gotta think okay and not even because I gotta see this yeah and even for that one it's like because this is going to be a disaster
Starting point is 00:22:32 but knowing like some Coppola getting high in his fucking trailer all day and coming out with this shit yeah that is more exciting to me than this but here we go oh no Beetlejuice also Beetlejuice Beetlejuice I stopped
Starting point is 00:22:48 also excited to see where MIA is going with this line of Faraday cages Faraday cage inspired so MIA man for the fans you know we loved Paper Planes
Starting point is 00:23:04 you know she was pretty revolutionary MIA, man. For the fans, we loved Paper Planes. She was pretty revolutionary. Then she started saying all kinds of stuff that was weird. Especially during the pandemic, really. Things got wobbly about 5G and all this shit. She is now coming out with an entire clothing that is meant to like block out all kinds of wacky shit you know like like 5g rays and like bluetooth like things that like all these invisible pollutants electronic things that will interfere with your internal safety um there's a hundred
Starting point is 00:23:41 dollar what they even call the tinfoil hat, which is like a bucket hat, which has quote 100% brain coverage, a $200 data protection dump bag, which blocks 99.99% of electromagnetic radiation, and a $200 quote full protection poncho, which has a full coverage uh gives you full coverage of your brain gut lungs heart and womb um and mia was like look man i get it uh like she said first of all future backwards is are you tough um there's an e that's really left out that's a really good point though i never i'd never realized that but then said this look if the conspiracy theorists are wrong good for you you own some beautiful clothes made with pure silver and precious metals but if they are right you just might have saved the future of humanity is she talking to herself in that one i don't know i don't know i don't know jack looks great look good feel good on this one yeah yeah yeah yeah we've lost her that's all right
Starting point is 00:24:53 dude you gotta you gotta you gotta get you gotta protect your brain dude from the 5g that's all i'm saying i'm just all i'm saying is if you're gonna create something called a dump bag and I'm not supposed to take a shit in it. That's true. What are we even doing here? It said it blocks 99.99% of Wi-Fi, 4G, and 5G from reaching your brain. Made with pure copper and nickel Faraday fabric. And a reversible two-tone design. So, look, if the conspiracy theorists are wrong you now have beautiful
Starting point is 00:25:25 clothing made with precious metals and if not you may have saved humanity yeah look if the conspiracy theorists are wrong you just watched an awesome video called loose change uh that you know that's just you just got to enjoy cinema and if they they're right, I don't know, man. That's right, man. You're welcome. You're welcome. Those are some of the things that are trending on this Wednesday afternoon. We are back tomorrow
Starting point is 00:25:56 with the whole last episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get your vaccines. Get your flu shots. Don't do nothing about white shots. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. Embrace the 5G.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Let it in. Keep your mouth open so it can enter into your brain that way. And we'll talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
