In 1982, Atari players had one game on their minds, Sword Quest.
Because the company had promised $150,000 in prizes to four finalists.
But the prizes disappeared, leading to one of the biggest controversies in 80s pop culture.
I'm Jamie Loftus. Join me this spring for The Legend of Swordquest. We'll follow the quest
for lost treasure across four decades. Listen to The Legend of Swordquest on the iHeartRadio app,

Like, I wouldn't change anything.

Hello, good evening, or good afternoon, and good night. We're into the Truman Show, I
believe that's from that movie. Anyway, welcome to Hey Big Trendr. Got it.
It's Miles Gray.
I'm here with DJ Danil.
That's me.
You know, just go through some trends.
Yes, please.
And see what's out there.
First up, I just want to say,
apparently today would have been Kurt Cobain's 53rd birthday.
Really?
That's wild to think of Kurt Cobain as a 53-year-old.
Yeah, because that's not even old. That doesn't seem like
an old person. Thank you.
Which highlights how soon
he was. On the eve of my 53rd
birthday, I really appreciate you saying that.
It doesn't feel old, right? No, it doesn't. It actually feels like
probably the coolest age you could be. I mean, you know,
53 is the new 21, so that's what I hear. 21, 21,
21, 21. Now he'll be 53 Savage.
53, 53, 53.
The ripples of his life are felt throughout all of the post-grunge acts that have come
from him.
It's weird, though, too.
We were just talking about the Nirvana unplugged the other day.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe that was all...
That's just the zeitgeist.
The serendipity, baby.
It's talking into our brains, direct to us.
That's how we do it.
Well, happy birthday to Kurt Cobain.
Also, Shisha Bar is trending because of a right-wing terrorist attack in Germany that I think left nine people dead.
It could be more at this point.
But yeah, Germany also has a far-right terror problem.
Right.
Like a lot of the world right now.
And was clearly targeting uh immigrant populations right um and yeah the i it's i don't know it it's so fucking tragic and again it's just
so difficult to hear about because it's it's so pervasive now and and it's never-ending.
It's a new dimension of terror that is just firmly there in our consciousness now.
And no matter where you go, there are people with hate in their hearts.
So, yeah, all of our thoughts, love, and prayers to those affected in Germany
and everybody else just being affected by right wing terror.
Yeah.
I'm glad that it is at least being recognized this way.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Specifically right wing terror, that it is something that is against a progressive idea
instead of trying to pigeonhole it into more like narrow minded perspectives of what terrorism
can be.
And it's, you know, at least it's being recognized the right way.
Yeah.
And we'll see what kind of action they take to try and tamp down on that. terrorism can be and it's you know yeah at least it's being recognized the right way yeah uh and
we'll see what kind of action they take um to try and tamp down on that but yeah it's definitely
uh it's it's awful awful reality definitely not the best um okay so what else uh fortnight
season two oh yeah fortnight season two baby what does that mean so uh fortnight has they kind of
originated the whole Battle Pass thing
where you can pay money to, you pay like $10 at the beginning of a season
and as you play, you unlock more, you know, whatchamacallit,
aesthetic stuff for your characters and whatnot.
And so the new season just started.
It's a whole bunch of new secret agent kind of stuff.
Some secret organization has invaded the map, as it were.
Do you still come out down on buses?
Still come down on buses. Still thank the bus driver every time. Hey, as it were. Do you still come out down on buses? Still come down on buses.
Still thank the bus driver every time.
There you go.
They really kept that part the same, but they just keep spicing up.
Yeah, they keep spicing up the story of Fortnite, which I think is probably their most impressive
feat.
Is what?
Is the way that they're able to constantly refresh this game that is the exact same thing
over and over.
Yeah.
I mean, is there really a story, though?
No.
Are people invested in the lore of Fortnite?
I don't know if they are as much as they are invested in like the events that Fortnite
puts on.
Like every season there is a singular event that happens at one time in the game that
everybody kind of participates in.
So like in between, it's usually between 10 and 11 a.m. on the second to last day of the
season.
Anybody who jumps in during that time sees what is this special event they put on.
And they just animate some crazy happening
that happens in the world.
Last year, there was basically like a kaiju
versus the Jaegers.
Like they had a big old transformer come out
and fight a monster that was coming out of the water.
And everybody's just in the earth watching this happen.
And so they do those kinds of events
and those become highlights of the game.
Also, but are you doing the same battle royale
as that's going on?
It is free in the game as it's happening.
This is happening at the same time as the game is happening.
Oh, it's like, oh, I'm just dealing with this.
Yeah, exactly.
So could you get stomped out by a kaiju in that game on accident?
Yes.
Or on purpose.
Or on purpose.
You never know.
You never know.
And lastly, what am I looking at here?
It says Arsenal and Olympiakos.
Something a little close to your heart?
Oh, boy.
If you don't want spoilers for the Europa League match between Arsenal Football Club and Olympiakos Football Club, then end the episode now.
If you do want to hear me talk and go off about football, here we go.
If you do want to hear me talk and go off about football, here we go.
Apparently, Alex Lacazette scored the late winner to CLA 1-0 victory in Greece.
Now, this is for the Europa League.
So at this point, we're in the round.
Well, actually, see, this is where I forget.
I'm used to playing in the Champions League.
We're normally at this point, it's the round of 16.
But no, the next round will be the round of 16 for the Europa League.
And it's played in two legs.
So the first leg was away in Greece.
The second one will be at the Emirates in North London.
I'm just glad to see, you know, Arsenal keep on keeping on.
You know, we need to dig out these wins because you never know.
Look, at the end of the day, clearly not going to win the league.
And I don't even know why I should even say that out loud.
That's not even a possibility.
That's not even anything that could occur.
Even if Liverpool lost every single game,
it's mathematically an impossibility.
I'm so sorry.
It doesn't matter.
I'm realistic.
I'm not delusional.
I think props to Liverpool because they look unbeatable.
And look, if our Invincibles,
if they're also going to win the league without losing a match like the Arsenal greats of 2003-2004 did,
more power to you.
I respect the game.
I see the vision.
Jurgen Klopp, and I'm fucking with it.
Respect.
Yeah.
All that to say is we need to get back into the Champions League.
And if we win this tournament,
we're automatically in the Champions.
So, you know, we'll take this little victory,
see how it goes.
But look, we've got to look ahead to the future.
It's a long game.
It's a marathon, baby.
And that's a good part about being a sports fan.
Yeah, well, especially...
Able to take the long game look.
Considering we have not won the league in nigh on 16 years,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
That's fine, though.
You know what?
It's all about loyalty.
Amen.
And I'm all about loyalty. Amen. And I know what the listeners are, too. That's why we though. You know what? It's all about loyalty. Amen. And I'm all about loyalty.
Amen.
And I know what the listeners are, too.
That's why we salute y'all.
So thanks for listening.
We'll see you in the morrow in the a.m. with the regular show.
It's a good one.
Thank you so much.
Great one.
This one right now.
I know.
Well, this one.
Because you're on it.
Oh, you're on it.
Interesting.
You're biased.
Yep.
No, I'm not honoring you.
I'm just calling out your ego.
Okay.
Well, we love you guys. See you tomorrow. Bye.
