Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Insight Man, starring Trendzel Washington.
Underrated classic. Good one.
I'm Jack.
You are Miles.
Mm-hmm.
Great one.
That's one of the good ones.
Yeah.
I don't know if it's one of the good ones, but I remember being impressed at the time
when it came out, and I was like, whoa.
Yeah.
Inside, man.
Inside, man.
Okay.
I mean, it gives away the plot twist in the title hey you know what okay i don't know how
you know i don't know how it got away from me i didn't have those analytical skills
yeah yeah it's a good one though i am we already said who we are but one more time for the people
in the back i'm jack that's miles and these are the trends so ronaldo is trending again as is
mbappe uh they're both on people's minds uh ronaldo there is news right yeah he is he is back
he just went to so remember yesterday we're like i don't know he might go to man city and that would be a real kick in the
you know what's for fans of manchester united uh but he is going to be playing with manchester
united you know like when he left united to go to real madrid it was like you know one of the
biggest transfers at the time so it's kind of a little little romantic you know coming back to
where it all started so So good for him,
I guess.
I don't know.
So he is leaving his current team to go back to his old team.
Yeah.
Got it. So he went from,
he started at sporting Lisbon.
Then he went to Manchester United.
Then he went to Real Madrid,
to Juventus,
back to Manchester United.
Right.
Okay.
And apparently I think some of the rumors were like,
first,
like Wayne Rooney,
his old teammate at Manchester United was like, he was like, dude, like dude there i can't it'd be really hard for me to believe even
if they are saying he'd go to manchester city that he would do that as he felt that way like
just from his relationship with ronaldo not that they're super tight but you know they played
like some of the best seasons together and then apparently the his coach at Man United at the time, the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson,
I think gave him a call, like intervened.
And now he's at United.
So I don't know.
I think it would have been hard to see him playing
in the weird Manchester City kit.
And then Mbappe, we're still waiting to find out
if he's going to go to...
Real Madrid.
Real Madrid.
It sounds like PSG, his club that he's with to go to real madrid yeah it sounds like psg his his club
that he's with now paris saint germain uh who's owned by essentially the government of cutter
uh they have like they just said no we don't care if you were offering us like 180 million euros
like we don't care we are a government yeah we're cutter i don't know if you've seen this we do
human rights violations and we're still banging out here so what's your little 100 milli 200 milli
gonna do so yeah mbappe doesn't really have the the sort of leverage i guess to leave at the moment
and also who knows i mean to be honest real madrid is in a bit of a weird spot so he's not a lot of
like pundits are like growing up it's like yeah man like i
would always want to play with real madrid and the galacticals because i was like their whole
policy was having the world's best players play on their team but they're they're in i love that
policy i've always i've always been a fan of uh galactical policies just having the my policy is
always to have the world's best players on my team yeah and i found that it works
out for me yeah but in that way that's like the yankees you know what i mean which is like yeah
there's no there's no art to it we just said yeah motherfucker we get the fucking best players pay
whatever the fuck we have to and right that's it cry about it yeah it's so it's not just a um
like because in the nba there's always the teams that make this claim where they're like i
mean they come to the knicks and like the knicks are the greatest franchise like in the greatest
city and uh that never works out for the knicks because they have the worst owner in sports um
but then the lakers they do seem to have that pool where like if there's a free agent like it seems like it's
la lakers or the miami heat are the two that have the pool to like kind of bring people there's a
storied it's like a kid dreaming on playing the yankees you know like even if you didn't like
them and i get it not everyone's a yankee fan but just like in your mind it's like if you're a very
little kid you're like that's the team you know like if you know for very little kid, you're like, that's the team. You know, like if, you know, for us in the 90s, it would be like, I want to play with Michael Jordan on the Bulls or whatever, you know.
But then things change and it's not the same franchise that you grew up liking.
And not to say Real Madrid is that far off, but it's there.
They've been in, you know, since Cristiano Ronaldo left, they haven't been, you know, banging it out like they used to.
Yeah. All right.
Waukesha wisconsin is trending i'm never i'm always a little skeptical when a wisconsin city is trending
it's usually not for good things not uh you know milwaukee had the nba championship so shout out
to y'all but for the most part not wisconsin doesn't have a great trending record i would say
was it the school board voted yeah Yeah, the school board there.
So Wisconsin was giving free lunches to every student that needed them or, you know, regardless of income, like of their family.
And Waukesha, Wisconsin is the only school board to say no thanks and not only did they say no thanks
thus fucking over anybody who needed that help they're like no it's free you don't it's free
what do you mean just you're saying no we're giving it to you for free it's federally
subsidized okay fortunately they uh explained their logic and said they were worried uh that
it was gonna make students spoiled.
What the fuck does that mean?
That is the sort of thing that would have me at a PTA meeting looking like an anti-masker.
Like, yeah, we're in these PTA meetings.
But again, when we talk about this, you know, Monday, just the way empathy moves in this country it's absolutely fucking nonsense the idea that it could be that it would spoil a child to feed someone the like sustenance that is going to spoil them
like again that shows you what how people even view things that are like rights you know or like
what is fundamentally something a necessity that all human beings should have
access to food is a like what we're saying food is like playing ps5 on a 85 inch led tv or some
shit like what if what are we fucking doing scott zolak is trending former patriots quarterback
scott zolak uh i'm not familiar with his work even though i spent many years as a
patriots fan and he said in a radio interview that he thinks rap music is distracting cam newton
so just a fire take from uh what the fuck what about that just racist bs what are you fucking saying what is that even like i don't even
know what what is the logic of being like yeah you know cam newton's like i'm surprised he just
didn't say you know what his problem is he's black right black quarterbacks they don't do well that's
essentially what i feel like you but you did the coward's way and just dog whistled Dixie and just said, oh, yeah, the problem is this rap music.
It's distracting him.
Jesus Christ.
What are we?
Okay, cool.
I mean, he looks, I was picturing somebody in their mid to late 70s.
And apparently he is one of the Patriots' current broadcasters
and is 53 years old.
So I don't know what the fuck he could possibly...
Does Cam Newton have like a rap career?
No.
He said, I'd turn off the rap music first of all
because I think it's distracting for Cam here.
In between every
throw he's dancing jesus christ what the fuck oh my god dude oh we got so such a long way to go
this motherfucker isn't he like i think he's the radio voice of the patriots too
yeah so hopefully not anymore uh that i don't know it's boston bro bounced yeah
we'll see what happens jesus christ like what happens if he was like what is the music he's
like you know what he needs to be listening to some margaritaville right that'll chill him right
out dude chill him right out when you're in the pocket and that just hits you you know what i mean yeah this is him criticizing a player who has had 20 times the career that he had but
and also that's not even good advice like you saying that doesn't make you seem smarter though
either like it's just racist like it's just bullshit fucking dog whistling there's nothing
that's not an actual solution and you don't seem like you know more because you said
aha the problems the dancing and all the black shit yeah and as you know what i mean that's like
the sorting out his feet oh man you see him in that three-step drop like he's got to sort out
that last step right that's probably right that's not what it's about yeah as we've talked about being a black quarterback in college and pro football is
just a psychologically traumatizing experience like warren moon one of the best of all time had
to like create a support group of black quarterbacks to just like for people to just
like get through their career all right let's take a quick break we'll be right back
i'm dr laurie santos host of the happiness lab podcast as the u.s elections approach
it can feel like we're angrier and more divided than ever. But in a new, hopeful season of
my podcast, I'll share what the science really shows, that we're surprisingly more united than
most people think. We all know something is wrong in our culture, in our politics, and that we need
to do better and that we can do better. With the help of Stanford psychologist Jamil Zaki. It's
really tragic. If cynicism were a pill, it'd be a poison.
we'll see that our fellow humans, even those we disagree with, are more generous than we assume.
My assumption, my feeling, my hunch is that a lot of us are actually looking for a way to disagree and still be in relationships with each other.
All that on the Happiness Lab.

And what started as a video game promotion

This summer, the nation watched as the Republican nominee for president was the
target of two assassination attempts, separated by two months. These events were mirrored nearly
50 years ago when President Gerald Ford faced two attempts on his life in less than three weeks.
President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today.
And these are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president.
One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson.
I always felt like Lynette was kind of his right-hand
woman. The other, a middle-aged
housewife working undercover for the
FBI in a violent, revolutionary
underground. Identified
by police as Sarah Jean Moore.
The story of one strange
and violent summer. This

Everywhere you look now, the situation is desperate.
My name is Manuel Delia.
I am one of the hosts of Crooks Everywhere,

And we're back. And a judge by the name of john cooper is trending judge cooper john cooper he's trending because he overruled florida governor ron desantis uh he said yo that executive order banning the mask mandates fucking out of here yeah get it out so yeah it's uh there's that
ron de santa says it's a small victory is that out of right it'll be interesting to see like if
this immediately has an impact but it does seem like well yeah the very least the courts aren't
on his side so right yeah they can't enforce his that's the one thing we have least the courts aren't on his side so right yeah they can't enforce his
that's the one thing we have is the courts aren't on their side but then you have another court
above that court that can be like i don't know right maybe but i don't it seems like with the
way things are going they're not interested in hearing cases like that so judge john cooper
delivering a small victory for people because
also this like half of the state they just mutinied against ron desantis and there was like
a stat that said half of the kids in school in florida were already covered by mask mandates
they didn't give a fuck what desantis was saying they're like no you're wearing a fucking mask
hopefully judge cooper is protecting himself and uh you know, not reading his mentions because the people who are wrong on this one are wrong and strong.
The mask and vaccine stuff.
All right.
Hurricane Ida is trending.
This is a tropical storm that is strengthening into a hurricane and is expected expected to make landfall uh over the weekend
in the gulf um the water is like unprecedentedly warm so they're telling people to prepare for a
really bad storm and it's yeah it's uh expected to make landfall on the anniversary of hurricane katrina which is not great oh my god really yeah that's um yeah jesus but it's like
but it's not the same size right they're thinking it's this is a category three hurricane yeah i
don't know why i'm talking like a fucking meteorologist but yeah i just know that number
isn't as bad as it can be it's strengthened to a category one. Currently forecast to grow into a major hurricane
in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.
And people need to start making hurricane preparations now.
But yeah, it's supposed to hit this weekend into Monday.
So shout out to Zeitgang on the Gulf Coast.
Please be safe.
Please prepare, be safe.
And yeah, sending good vibes your way.
Candyman is trending because the movie
that I think a lot of people have been intrigued by,
intrigued by the idea of kind of rebooting,
refurbishing this franchise and also by the trailer.
And it's,
uh,
EP by Jordan Peele.
It seems like it's,
you know,
I think he hand selected the director.
She is super,
super talented.
Um,
the trailer looked awesome and the reviews are starting to hit,
uh,
and looking,
looking good,
looking,
uh,
as good as we would have hoped.
Um, so I have hoped. Yeah.
So I'm in.
Yeah, she's Anita Costa, man.
She's fucking killer.
Did Little Woods and then she's 31.
I know.
She's the youngest person to do a Marvel film, too.
When she was hired to do it last year, they're like, well, you just beat Ryan Coogler.
So, yeah. Face Coogler so yeah face coogler
you know what's so funny though what you can only imagine right because you know the whole thing's
about gentrification like there's undertones about that and kind of what's going on and there's like
a fucking the new york post i just like that the headline that i see is creepy new candy man movie indicts gentrification as the real horror
you're like yeah uh-huh it just reads like some drunk uncle shit just because the one part says
uh you know the new one features a diverse cast parenthetical including black leads in a gay
couple and deals with issues of class and like black leads in a gay couple you know out there
diverse so um wow i don't even know what they ended up saying if it was good i just feel like
they just keep saying like yeah i guess it's about this i don't really know what gentrification is
but so i'm just gonna say it's about it yeah yeah the av club's giving a good review the um
hollywood reporter actual film critics new york times giving great reviews hey even the wall
street journal hot damn look at them uh all right guys that's gonna do it for us for uh this week
another one in the books season 200 coming up uh it's a it's gonna be a big one for us
all right guys we are back on monday with a whole last episode of the show until then be kind to
each other be kind to yourselves get the vaccine don't do nothing about white supremacy and we
