Starting point is 00:02:09 Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of J. Peter Trend. Another Seinfeld-y trending title. This one from the brew, the Discord. Did all our young fans just find out about Seinfeld because it's on on netflix or well no they saw that kith fucking lookbook with jerry you know what i mean the high school villain out here in his drip this punk they're like this creepy old guy was on a hit show that the curb Your Enthusiasm dude, mate? Right. All right. Well, I am Jack.
Starting point is 00:02:47 That is Miles. These are some of the things that are trending on this Wednesday, October 12th in the afternoon. Yes. Dahmer is trending because it has become Netflix's second biggest series ever. Wow. I saw that trailer and I was immediately like i can't think of a show i'd less want to return to for multiple episodes wait that's wait so that means it was squid game the biggest no uh stranger things stranger thing yeah it's bigger than squid game i guess that's what that's what they're saying for thought Squid Game broke their fucking shit
Starting point is 00:03:26 that's what I thought too whatever their stats for hourly how much people are watching it it does seem to have really broken through you just hear people mentioning it all the time but I don't know man
Starting point is 00:03:41 I am so out on this one I will not be watching it even if it was good I wouldn't watch it because I just don't know man i am so out on this one i will not be watching it well even if it was good i wouldn't watch it because i just don't fuck with like serial killer shit well not even that like i wish i could say i'm that principles right you know because i watch shitty reality tv which let's be real is also another form of exploitation but like i just sincerely like once i saw the documentary and you learn about jeffrey domer like fucking freaks you that freaked me out to the point like oh fuck don't need to look in there anymore um but hey man if you know you got to renew your fear list of something to be afraid
Starting point is 00:04:17 of then yeah america loves a cannibal too you know yeah america runs on cannibals turns out um yeah i don't know i can't i can't imagine wanting to watch that shit anyways uh true crime that's its own thing you know yeah i think it's i think we you know in our old age and like the amount we have to engage with the news like very seriously all the time like a thing where it's like, dude, you want to see this fucked up sensationalized version of a thing that is so fucked up. You thought it was made up in the first place.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Yeah. And it's like, kind of like, yeah, give me 90 day fiance, please. Yeah. True crime.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Also very popular during the Weimar Republic. All right. So, which starting to make more and more sense. The overlap there. Yeah. Especially with, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:09 fucking Kanye coming out as fucking Goebbels 2.0. Yeah. Uh, Alex Jones, Alex Jones is out here. Um, getting to see this, his pants suit off.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Uh, I think we might literally, they might come for his pants. This man has been ordered to pay 965 million uh in the sandy hook defamation case some are saying that shit is actually going north of a billy a billy a billy a billy a billy a billy a billy yeah so that's what he owned he owes like one plaintiff like 120 million alone i think a lot of people been like it's gonna i think it was ben collins on twitter saying it's gonna be hard to like
Starting point is 00:05:49 you know nutraceutical your way out of this one right although that's usually his like thing because right now they're saying like he's now selling like synergy minerals or some shit for iron men right uh but yeah i mean jesus took 10 fucking years yeah for something that was like on its face and like uh okay this anyway seems bad right that he's ruining the lives of people at the lowest moment having gone through the most tragic thing a human can go through it seems bad seems like he should he should face some consequences for that. So it's nice to see consequences in one place. Although even now I'm like, but he's going to find a way to get out of that, right?
Starting point is 00:06:30 Like this is just something that's going to scare him. But then his lawyers will find a way to declare bankruptcy or like create a separate entity that is declaring bankruptcy. Well, as someone who's only observed rich white people law in action from the other side i don't know what shell game he has to play to hide his assets but i don't know i mean like the fantasy version of this is like he's just been financially neutralized yeah just ruined for the rest of his life which would be wonderful and so well deserved but who knows he might start over he's like i lost info or set but you guys
Starting point is 00:07:05 stuck with me so uh you know shout out to everybody on my patreon right 28 of taco bell is trending hey you know why because some guy was on fox news let me just play this clip for you uh i'm gonna play this clip for you and for all my taco bell heads i'll let you just just take this in you want to know how bad inflation is yesterday yes i had a nice lunch at taco bell cost me about 28 at taco bell for lunch people need to pay for those things and they do that by getting jobs and getting in the economy and getting active and getting involved wait a minute you spent 28 in taco bell for for just kavuto was like what for lunch yeah it's really it's true for lunch that's a lot of chalupas that's an inflation story that is he's
Starting point is 00:07:50 a you're both thin fit guy i can't see i like how neil kavuto couldn't even be like man that's fucking but what the fuck are you talking about like his evil talking points my man he overstated it he's like bro you need to learn how to talk poor people better than that shit right 28 and then it is like a republican force coming through and being like i mean you can't even go to the the grocery store and get crudite i mean yeah this piece of celery cost 25 dollars um i was at the petrosian caviar store and you wouldn't even believe what beluga costs right now. Per gram. Per gram. $28 of Taco Bell. That's like some supermarket sweep shit where you're just going through and trying to buy everything on the menu.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Trying to spend as much money as quickly as you possibly can. I'm going to be real. I have ordered in excess of $30 of Taco Bell in one go. Yeah. Not for lunch. This was before inflation, sir. I'm a fucking kind of creature that you do not want to be near. I've been made in the labs
Starting point is 00:08:53 of yum brands. Right. And my blood type is fiery sauce, fire sauce, whatever. Like, because right now, like the prices are different. Depends on where you go.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Like you could get, I feel like a three soft taco or three hard shell taco supreme combos at least $10 now. For real? Okay. Yeah, and for that, I would say that's true. Right. A three taco supreme combo?
Starting point is 00:09:16 That's like $9? $8? What is it? Taco crunchy supreme? I got it right here because I have it tatted on my arm. Yeah, $10.19. I mean, that's too much like he's not wrong that inflation is real he should yeah that that's good you got it right there you got taco three supreme crunchy tacos plus drink right it's don't damn near ten dollars but he would have had to have ordered three of those essentially yeah that's what's get like if you want to add it up like like you got to be eaten or this guy is a fucking stoner and he's
Starting point is 00:09:49 just not telling people like the way neil cavuto's like really that's like when you tell people who don't smoke weed how much you can eat like when you're high and they're like wait really like four double doubles like yeah motherfucker four what you know so uh but again yeah inflation is real though but uh this is an interesting point that this guy was making yeah i mean it's an attempt i don't know i do he needs to produce receipts because i mean if he did like that's kind of impressive both on a personal level if he put away 28 worth Taco Bell at lunch, you know what he probably did work. He probably used Uber Eats or some shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Yeah. Add on like another seven. You know what I mean? Right. Or whatever it is. Cause he seems like the kind of dude who's disgusting and what Uber Eats Taco Bell without actually respecting the food and going to the bell itself. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:40 You got to go to the bell. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. Right. You got to go to the bell. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life.
Starting point is 00:10:54 It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110, 120, she's terrified. Should we wake her up?
Starting point is 00:11:11 Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people.
Starting point is 00:11:30 There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Do you ever wonder where your favorite foods come from? Like what's the history behind bacon-wrapped hot dogs? Hi, I'm Eva Longoria. Hi, I'm Maite Gomez-Rejon. Our podcast, Hungry for History, is back. Season two. Season two. Are we recording? Are we good? Oh, we push record, right?
Starting point is 00:12:06 And this season, we're taking an even bigger bite out of the most delicious food and its history. Saying that the most popular cocktail is the margarita, followed by the mojito from Cuba, and the piña colada from Puerto Rico. So all of these, we have, we thank Latin culture. There's a mention of blood sausage in Homer's Odyssey that dates back to the 9th century B.C. B.C.?
Starting point is 00:12:29 I didn't realize how old the hot dog was. Listen to Hungry for History as part of the My Cultura podcast network. Available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. When you think of Mexican culture, you think of avocado, mariachi, delicious cuisine, and of course, lucha libre. Starting point is 00:12:56 because it is much more than just a sport and much more than just entertainment. Lucha libre is a type of storytelling. It's a dance. It's tradition. It's culture. Embark on a journey across the stars, discovering the wonders of the universe one episode at a time. We'll talk about life, love, laughter, and why you should never argue with your co-pilot. Starting point is 00:14:56 of the time and we're back and emoji are trending let me be like okay so there's this daily mail article talking about how they they did like a survey of like 2 000 people between the ages of like 18 and 29 and they're like there are 10 emojis that they say they're like no one my age would use these things but the gross ass gen x boss i have and they're like millennial flunkies they be using these fucking sad emojis and we don't like him you're washed and old disgusting get out my face all right i will reveal these emojis. And we don't like them. You're washed and old, disgusting. Get out my face. All right. I will reveal these emojis to you now, Jack. Here they are. It is the thumbs up.
Starting point is 00:15:32 It is the tears streaming down the face one. It is the hand clap. It is the poop emoji. It is the A-OK white supremacy symbol or whatever. The OK hand symbol. The red lip smack like the lipstick swag sealed with a kiss for all my people who used to pass notes back in the day the regular red heart the like labored what i call the bird shit smile where it's like you
Starting point is 00:15:57 got bird shit in your mouth but you gotta pretend you like it that one like And then the see no evil monkey and the check mark. Right. That's it. You have revealed yourself as an old if you use these. I'm going to say I do like the tier one. The one with the tears streaming down the face. The tears coming down the face. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:14 You mostly communicate through that emoji. You respond with a certain number and then we have to kind of read the tea leaves. Oh, it's a three tier day? Oh, boy. Okay. We need a sub for him. Oh, three crying face day. Yeah. Okay. Okay. he's not gonna be on trends um like yeah i i you know i'm a very emotional guy but yeah it's wild to see how like it's so like that to younger people
Starting point is 00:16:37 they're like get this fucking heart away from me and does that include tap backs are they saying like no no no this ain't tap backs this ain't okay this is just what just if you were actually like putting this in your message because i gotta know what i'm allowed to do now because i don't want to be old so yeah yeah i mean do you want to hear the quotes they'll say a 24 year old summed up the gen z argument saying it's best never used in any situation like some of these. Some people, they really feel that the thumbs up can be seen as passive aggressive, even
Starting point is 00:17:11 confrontational. I get how you can. I agree with that. That's how I read that. I will take the worst spin on any communication to me. I'll be like, oh, they're saying, yeah, have a great day you know like the the assholes implied the thumbs up i get like if you i mean yeah but i think that might
Starting point is 00:17:32 not be generational like you use that to be a dick to be like yeah all right asshole boom there you go thumbs up but the other stuff i think that just makes them feel really sad for us when were they like damn they did the fucking they're using the clap thing again there's someone said quote my last workplace had a whatsapp chat for our team to send info to each other on and most of the people on there just replied with a thumbs up i don't know why but it seemed a little bit hostile to me now is this an article where they just interviewed their kid and their kids friends and it seems like somewhat non-scientific but i'm not gonna i think it was just emojis okay uh generally i'm not a huge emoji user so i'm not like getting
Starting point is 00:18:14 defensive here i but i do wonder how much of this is like the kids are saying fetch now uh you know right right right just something that is happening maybe with a small group most of this it's a lot of the page the words are being used to talk about the passive aggressiveness of the thumbs up more than even the other emojis yeah um but i guess probably right i don't think you should use like there is a tap back if you need to thumbs up a message but like you sending a thumbs up in a message feels a little bit like you're being like i've never done i've never done it except yeah i haven't to be like you're an asshole right you know uh and then they know they're like oh so you want to fight about it and i'm like okay yeah you know what i
Starting point is 00:18:59 do let's go cool man is how i read a thumbs up you know like a very sarcastic oh cool oh for sure for sure dude for sure stick to stick to using washed ass gifs like i do i thought like that's the one i need to see next because there are some gifs that i'm like i can't i cannot abide i cannot abide like I cannot abide. Like the blinking white guy. I think we retire him. Yeah. Blinking white guy.
Starting point is 00:19:29 There's that like puppet monkey thing that like kind of looks back and forth that that one. Yeah. I is always used in a, like by people who I don't know what they mean. And I, I like that. I feel like I,
Starting point is 00:19:44 that one is constantly, I'm just like, all right, I don't, I don't know what they mean. And I, I like that. I feel like I, that one is constantly, I'm just like, all right, I don't, I don't know what this is. Oh yeah. And see, Becker just came into the chat.
Starting point is 00:19:50 She said, I feel like using gift reaction in general is like, Oh, you're older. Yeah. Facts. Cause let me tell you some Becker. When these gifts came out,
Starting point is 00:19:57 we're like, it's video. It's not. And you can type in videos. Yes. Yes. Yeah. I remember I used to watch like giftif highlights of like the lakers yeah anyway so we're old and washed and that's why i say like like even without me
Starting point is 00:20:14 thinking i leaned into my washness by being like yo i gif it up i don't gif a fuck okay see i knew the kids would come back to me and just typing out words would be cool again. I just never really fucked with GIFs because probably because I didn't feel like looking around for the right GIF. And I don't think I had the skill. I don't think I had the talent. I think because I speak in references a lot. Right. Like, my mind is always thinking of some other parallel thing that I could, like, immediately I'm like, oh, I remember this moment in this movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:43 That could be that. That's how I feel right now. But again, I think that more speaks to how I remember this moment in this movie. Yeah. That could be that. That's how I feel right now. But again, I think that's more speaks to like how media brained I've been. Yeah. I just respond with everything with the, we're going to need a bigger boat from jaws. Cause that's the only pop culture reference.
Starting point is 00:20:56 That are rocky Adrian. Yeah. And really what I said, I'm here. Can you let me in? I'm in the lobby. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Fetterman is getting Dean screamed, I think, is what we're seeing right now. They're trying. So NBC interviewed him and focused the whole thing on, like, is he okay? Because so he is at a point in his recovery from his stroke that he processes language better coming from a screen than coming in a spoken form. So he has a high speed printout of what is being said in front of him. And he uses that very effectively, able to like keep up the conversation and respond without a pause but
Starting point is 00:21:47 when there are pauses in the conversation the pauses in it like are accentuated instead of being edited out if he like repeats a word these things that we do all the time in day to day conversation are accentuated
Starting point is 00:22:03 and like brought center highlighted meanwhile we just saw that they will edit out all the time in day-to-day conversation are accentuated. And brought front and center. Highlighted. Meanwhile, we just saw that they will edit out Kanye West saying anti-Semitic things, saying things that make it clear he has had a mental break to cover up him because he could be a useful fascist.
Starting point is 00:22:20 But the mainstream media wants this shit front and center because John Fetterman is a left-of-center Democrat. And that's how the DNC is not going to come in and protect him. It's just weird, too. So they were questioning, even the interviewers, like, why aren't you telling people what your doctor said? He's like, my doctor said I'm making a recovery and I'm fully able to run and hold office. Yeah, but that was like months ago.
Starting point is 00:22:48 What about now? They deserve to know. Like, they're just framing it like you're hiding something. You're hiding something. Then on CNN, which you shouldn't be surprised because they were like, we're trying to bounce shit out and move to the right. They had fucking people playing with like a brain model to be like and see this is the part of the brain that would dictate these things they had sanjay gupta on there and he actually said yeah he looks fine like he seems to be someone who's recovering
Starting point is 00:23:15 well from the stroke that they had and then like then they cut to like a panel of pundits who are just like yeah it just looks really bad it looks like this so it's weird like cnn's playing themselves like in the worst way you know ever since they were saying like you know we're trying to we're trying to get back to the middle or whatever it's like you're not they think they were going to get more conservatives to watch but most of the cnn audience wasn't really conservatives like a lot of weird middle liberal types. Like, like there was more people.
Starting point is 00:23:47 It seems like going the other direction, being like, well, I don't fuck with CNN anymore. Cause I miss my Don Lemon takes. Right. But yeah, it's just,
Starting point is 00:23:56 uh, it's like, they're just trying to make the race like closer or seem closer. A lot of people have been like, Oh, the horse race bullshits come back out now. I think when they want to take someone down they they're pretty good at it and i i do think this is probably like
Starting point is 00:24:12 bad for his campaign i think this will be effective because like it's like the dean's like they they when they decided okay we're to make this motherfucker look unhinged and incapable of holding office and not serious. That's to get him out of a presidential primary. This is just him running against a Republican. A Republican who I feel like the mainstream
Starting point is 00:24:38 media trusts and has probably gone to lunch with. I don't even know if it's... I don't know what it is i'll believe anything because we've seen i've seen the darkest shit go down in politics ever so uh who knows or at the very least he's not getting the protection from the mainstream democratic party no he would have otherwise and yeah and like that's where it's like more nefarious where you're like well i don't know if i was being like really tinfoil hat brained i'm like well what business interests are the most threatened by him being in office
Starting point is 00:25:09 in pennsylvania or does that upset the balance of the senate to the point that they're playing a long game because they don't want them to collect votes on a given topic i don't know and it's it's better for like the donor class to be like you know what maybe that should that seat should stay red but i don't know what is happening at the moment. We shall see. All right. Those are some of the things that are trending on this Wednesday afternoon.
Starting point is 00:25:31 We are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Get the flu shot. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we'll talk to you all tomorrow.
