Starting point is 00:03:46 were just still talking about the show just coming like getting on planes getting off planes yeah no yeah no joke even at the lobby of the hotel they were we got free drinks because of the culture king oh yeah that is true shout out to noel for that one we're gonna talk about our super lit and millennial awesome uh hotel lobby first, before we get to know you even better, Edgar, we're going to talk about what our listeners are in store for. We're going to talk about Laura Loomer, my hero. We're going to talk about Airbnb designing and building homes now. And we'll take that opportunity to tell you about the hotel we're staying in uh it's the epcot center version of millennials uh pinterest nightmare yeah we're gonna talk about the shitty white guy high five
Starting point is 00:04:33 heard around the world uh between putin and mbs we're gonna talk about uh the ethics agency that is warning federal workers not to discuss the i word impeachment uh miles you're gonna let us know what's going on in the latest on the messy messy russian mess uh we're gonna talk about how nunez and the gop using their brilliant five-dimensional chess uh might have actually fucked themselves we're gonna talk about Amber Geiger finally being charged for murder. We're going to talk about NYU's study that is fairly, I don't know. It seems like it's a shot fired at Trump supporters.
Starting point is 00:05:14 We'll talk about it. And then we'll talk about all this weird seismic activity out here, guys. You seen this? You heard about this? But first, Edgar, what is something from your search history that's revealing about who you are?
Starting point is 00:05:28 Let me look. I have not looked at my search history in a minute all right here we go and if there's anything weird going on with sound guys bear with us we are in a hotel room we have yeah i'll take i'll take pictures so you can see so you can like stress nightmare with us oh foldable table and we have a door open so if security comes in and goes i heard people screaming in here so the last thing i searched was not a black woman i can't thank earl sweatshirt and that's just a lyric from one of his songs azucar uh from his new album yeah some rap songs i know i texted you and i was like hey are you in chicago and i'm like what are you doing you're like i'm listening to earl on fucking right now on loop man i woke up at six in the morning, put on my beats, and I've just been listening to that album nonstop.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Wait, did you find your headphones? Yeah, my Uber driver came back and gave them to me. Okay, because I remember this was a little bit of a fiasco on Twitter. You said you lost your beats. And someone offered you some wired ones. You're like, I'm wireless, my man. Yeah, that's crazy, bro. I have an XS.
Starting point is 00:06:20 I can't. The box didn't even come with the dongle. That's how much they don't give a fuck about wires anymore. They want everyone to look like Jack and have them fucking pods in their ears. The wireless life. That's right. Wait, so what did the search relate to? That's a lyric in one of his songs, and I was trying to make a tweet where I thanked all these black women that were in my life with a collage.
Starting point is 00:06:43 I wanted to make sure I got the lyric right before I tweeted it but all the people are liking it but i don't think that they know it's from earl sweatshirt song because i think his album's gonna go a little bit unnoticed because meek dropped an album today jay-z's on it jay-z fucking yeah did that track that people think is dissing uh kanye and fucking chance dropped two songs today so i feel like uh earl's gonna get buried a little bit you know what i'm saying uh which sucks because he delayed this album by a whole year right just to make sure he got it right nah uh he was gonna give it to his dad this album and then his dad died and then that kind of like just fucked with him yeah that. That's horrible. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:26 I loved Doris. I don't like shit. I don't go outside was a little too dark for me. Well, you're not going to like this album. I'll tell you that right now. This one's very for the low energy mob. Yeah. This is very low energy. For the opening track,
Starting point is 00:07:38 you're like, the energy is so low, but you're like, this man has been in the lab. He's not even rapping on beat. Yeah. Yeah, he's just like, this is what you got. Yeah, hey, look, I've been out here.
Starting point is 00:07:49 What is something you think is overrated? Well, now that I'm in Chicago, I want to make this very Chicago specific. Okay. Deep dish pizza, bro. Overrated. Overrated. Jaquese took me to a deep dish spot.
Starting point is 00:08:00 I believe it was called Giraldi's or something like that. He thought it was going to be a fun time. I did give it an 8 out of 10. I thought it was good giraldi's or something like that he thought it was gonna be a fun time i did give it an eight out of ten i thought it was good pizza but overrated i mean chicago pizza don't come nowhere close to new york pizza right i think the average new york spot is a better pizza than the best chicago deep dish spot on my mama oh my mama that's on that's you're making that claim i will you know i don't want to get flamed by the chicago the good people of chicago but i think i think like deep dishes it's sort of its own thing you know even chicago people don't really ride for deep dish they're like oh it's chicago pizza is not really deep dish when you it's just deep dishes its own separate
Starting point is 00:08:39 thing and we don't like it that much or like like, it's different, right? Wasn't Jaquese saying Chicago pizza is more like, or to him, it was more the like flat, the, what do you call that? Thin crust pizza. Yeah. Cut into squares. Yeah. And they make the point that it's basically like a quiche.
Starting point is 00:08:56 It's like so thick. Wait, so why don't you like, just because of the pure carb count? Yeah, it's just messy as hell, bro. Like it's just not, I don't find it to be a very good pizza find it to be very messy i like that well talk like bourdain here give me more words you can't just say messy like it's the texture is the salt content i mean it's not the salt it's like
Starting point is 00:09:14 you bite into it and then it just spills everywhere sauce everywhere you know i'm saying and like a new york slice is nice it's consistent yeah you fold it you eat it what's your favorite new york pizza place uh listen truly any little bodega like any place you can just walk in and grab i mean i used to go john's i used to go to napoli's a lot okay in uh in yonkers right there on uh on the main street in yonkers you just walk in there drop a dollar 25. yeah don't get it too hot don't get it too hot burn the out of your mouth no exactly and i feel like here we got a slice the other day and i was like this is a slice of pizza here i don't know i don't know man i'm not trying to take shots at chicago i'm just saying
Starting point is 00:09:56 for names that like to take shots and talk about their pizza it's kind of whack yeah easy for you to say you're on your way out of town right now luckily this episode won't come out until it's too late what is something you think is underrated I want to also shout out Chicago and I want to say the Navy Pier is underrated
Starting point is 00:10:17 what a fucking beautiful spot and I think it's better than New York's Pier you're really bringing balance to the force i am i am i went we went we did the fucking centennial uh uh uh what is that centennial wheel could see the entire chicago skyline i also think the chicago skyline is underrated i mean how do you put it up against new york's though see i think new york skyline too many of the buildings look similar versus I think Chicago has that diverse skyline.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Wow. Like there's different kinds of looking buildings in terms of style of architecture and stuff like that. I'm also distracted right now because James Harden has fooled the NBA refs into getting him one of the craziest foul calls I've ever seen in my life. This is insane. He's an artist. James Harden is an artist.
Starting point is 00:11:04 He is a flap artist. But like, yeah, no, I think that there's just so much, Jagish showed me this one building
Starting point is 00:11:12 that was like super old, very gothic looking and then right next to it was one of the most futuristic buildings I've ever seen in my life. Yeah. And that's what I think
Starting point is 00:11:19 is really cool about Chicago's architecture. Yeah, it's kind of all over the place. You guys also went to the Bean together. We did go to the Bean together. It sounds super romantic.
Starting point is 00:11:26 I'm not going to lie to you guys. And you like recorded the whole thing. We recorded the whole thing. It's a very weird episode. I'm very interested to see how fans react to this episode. Right. But I mean, look, man, we were in Chicago. We thought it would be nice to just go to all the classic date spots and record an episode.
Starting point is 00:11:42 You know what I'm saying? Did you take a picture of yourself in the reflection of the bean? Yeah, we did. As you're supposed to? Yeah, we did. I think that's going to be the title episode, so look out for that. You guys are adorable.
Starting point is 00:11:50 Thank you, man. Yeah, man. I love... The thing I like most about New York is when you're down... Have you been to Dumbo and places like that where you're next to those bridges? That feels like it's...
Starting point is 00:12:04 I don't know. You could have bought a place down in Dumbo for $1 million back then. I know. I always talk about that. And then how much is that place worth now? $25 million. And how are you feeling? Dumbo.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Very Dumbo, guys. And finally, what's a myth? What's something most people think is true that you know to be false? Well, I think I'm going to try to keep it Chicago. to be false well i think you know i'm gonna try to keep a chicago and uh a myth that i think they have is that kanye west is the best rapper out of chicago i think that's a big myth that people have and i think that's nowhere near the truth for me it would probably be common i think common is the best and of course old common i mean look mean, look. You know, Common got really bad. Like Water for Chocolate Common? Yeah. Not Electric Circus?
Starting point is 00:12:46 Yeah. Not Universal Mind Control Common. I do think that he's like a much better lyricist than Kanye West, which is why I think B is like the better Kanye album in terms of... Better Common album. I mean, Kanye, because like... Or his production, right? His production is so good on it
Starting point is 00:13:05 but then common can bring in that very good lyricism to it yeah because that was like peak that was what year was common b that was what 2005 oh my god yeah so you're coming right off that fucking college dropout exactly what was that song on that uh the food that had kanye on it and they did a live performance season one of Chappelle. I wish I could give you this feeling. I wish I could give you this feeling. I think that's a very common myth.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Common myth, huh? I love they say. That's the work I'm putting in. That's the work I'm putting in. Exception. I think that Kanye gets to be Chicago's son. And I'm like, why ignore this very good rapper? Well, how do you feel about everybody else, though?
Starting point is 00:13:56 There's a lot of people in that discussion if you're talking about Chicago rappers. I mean, yeah, there's, like, Chance. I mean, look, everyone knows the best performer to come out of Chicago is R. Kelly. But nobody can talk about it, You know what I'm saying? Did you see? Take two. Wait, hold on. I think he had a performance in Ethiopia or something recently that was so absurd. Or I just saw it on Freddie Gibbs' Instagram, which is, yeah, where I get most of my news.
Starting point is 00:14:21 The number one source for news, Freddie Gibbs. Oh, no, you know what? It had to have been an old one I just saw a clip of it Did you get your shots? Do you have your passport? Are you ready to come to America? It was the weirdest song
Starting point is 00:14:36 I've ever heard He was a very talented performer He saw some 13 year old girl in the front He's illiterate so he can't really write his lyrics That's what I'm just saying I don't know i mean he's illiterate so he can't really write his lyrics now yeah but that's what i'm just saying is like you know but i don't think that his skill justifies how trashy he is no nobody's no no amount of skill justifies yeah being a sex grim yeah but i think that there isn't a little i think chicago has let us know that you can have your father be murdered as long as you're really good at basketball and that's all i'll say he did not have his father murdered his father was murdered because of his
Starting point is 00:15:11 gambling death that's on him that's on him so either way it's on him if they had asked him he would have been like nah please don't there's people crowding around this hotel room about to realize they're hearing this shit you're saying. So let's get into the stories of the day and weekend. I want to talk about Laura Loomer. This broke after we recorded at the end of last week. Yeah. After she claimed that Representative-elect Ilhan Omar's entire religion was oppressive towards women and gays and Jews, she got banned from Twitter. And that pissed her off because she's a far right activist
Starting point is 00:15:51 and they're supposed to, you know, Jack Dorsey's supposed to be looking out for them. He usually is. She began arguing the letter of the law. She was like, everything I said was 100% true, which it isn't, but even if she could claim that in some technical sense it was true in the context she was saying it, Twitter can do whatever the fuck they want, dude.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Like, you're not- It's a private company. Yeah, it's a private company. You post at their discretion, as we've annoyingly found out with our own Jamie Loftus. But it works the other way. And if you're evil and they successfully read the intent of your hate speech, yeah, you don't get to just throw a, you know, just flip out.
Starting point is 00:16:35 So her first response was to claim that the president was going to intervene on her behalf. Yeah, because, you know, he gets censorship that the liberal media machines are against the right. So he was like, yeah, he'll step in on my behalf because I'm doing the right thing. So I don't have to worry.
Starting point is 00:16:53 I mean, that was step one of just spinning out like a spoiled child in a toy store who hasn't gotten what she wanted. So claiming, the president, my daddy's gonna come. That didn't work and then so she went to Twitter's offices in New York City and handcuffed herself to one of the doors. She didn't want to create a fire hazard, so only one of the doors.
Starting point is 00:17:20 And then threw away the key. And Twitter decided not to press charges. They were like, fine. I mean, that's. Well, because when the cops showed up, they're like, well, twitter decided not to press charges they were like fine i mean that's cool because if they when the cops showed up they're like well do you want to press charges we can remove and they're like no let her rock you're good let's see how let's see how if she's built for this uh and also the one thing was wild that she had like a sort of star of david from like you know like the holocaust germany era like sewed onto her shirt, was really doing a lot in her demonstration. I mean, it's attacking where you're weak is the thing that the conservatives have just,
Starting point is 00:17:56 like it's just second nature to them. That's what they always do. So if you're a Nazi, you claim to be a victim of Nazis. Right. Like that's just how, just. If you're a racist, you claim to be a victim of Nazis. Right. That's just how just. If you're a racist, you claim to be a victim of reverse racism. Yes. It's a good.
Starting point is 00:18:09 I mean, I get the very elementary logic behind that, but it doesn't hold up after two seconds. I thought that y'all would learn, you know, from the multiple times that I've been here that y'all are looking at this all wrong. OK. And y'all are not looking at the sacrifice that she made. You understand how much shit she could have been doing that day and then she chose to put her own you know prerogative aside to so she could chain herself to the twitter building i don't know man if ariana grande did it y'all be cheering her on y'all be so happy i'll be so proud but y'all want to disrespect this woman
Starting point is 00:18:41 for exercising her right well the best part was when she was like you know and i'll pee myself if i have to but then she wasn't willing to actually back that up yeah she was like after like an hour she was like all right this is boring i don't want to do it anymore well it just shows you how shallow her thinking was like how short-sighted it was like well i'll do this and people will gather and i'll make this point and then she's like wait but if i threw away the key and i'm really supposed to pretend that i'm about this demonstration then i would have to urinate on myself right wait where am i getting food wait what about these other things and then yeah eventually why are people being mean to me come on get out of here and a cop was like ah you seem like a nice white girl there's other social medias out there for you. He literally said that to her.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Oh, he really said nice white girl? No, no, no. Oh, okay. But he said there's other medias out there. Yeah, there's other medias out there, hun. It's just funny that he was like talking to her like, ah, you'll catch the next one, Laura Loomer. There's a funny pic of like this NYPD cop, like white guy just looking at her,
Starting point is 00:19:41 doing like the quintessential like sarcastic new yorker smile like yeah all right yeah nice try there uh get out of here all right let's talk about the uh hellscape that we are living in uh airbnb is now designing and building houses so yeah it's it's basically they're they're not just like building they're designing What do you mean they're designing it? They're sending prefab houses, prefabricated houses out to people, I think, that you can buy houses from Airbnb. And they're small houses that you can put in your backyard so people can rent them from you. Finally, bro.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Finally, bro. This is such late-stage capitalism shit where it's like, let's not address the housing crisis. Let's just tell existing landowners how to profit. Like if they own if they're fortunate enough to own a piece of property, then how can you exponentially try and make money off of that? Hello, landowners. Or at the very least, like a lot of people, homeowning is so hard. Most people have to think about having a rental unit on their property to even pay their
Starting point is 00:20:45 mortgage it's just like yo like and then airbnb profits because like well now you got to buy the fake home from us and then you're going to rent this thing out through our website which then we get a cut of from the booking fees yeah yeah that's basically how it works man see this is what i don't understand about you guys what do you want airbnb to do not make a profit what do you want them to do with those homes give them the homeless people maybe use that energy and get like what the fuck y'all talking about bro that's easy capital be making here i saw this billboard outside today and it really spoke to me it said they don't have poor people said uh you don't have to worry about robots taking your job if you have a retirement plan and i'm like That's the late stage capitalism
Starting point is 00:21:27 that I fuck with. That's the foresight that I fuck with. If I'm rich, I don't have to worry about robots taking over my life. What's your savings account look like? You ready for the robot takeover? My savings account right now is my rent for next month. You've seen that improv robot though?
Starting point is 00:21:44 That improv comedy robot? So it's called harold yeah the improv robot harold the improv robot do you want to do a spoon river format so we're staying in a hotel uh while we're in chicago that used to be a and is now a yeah yeah first of all still owned by still owned by and if you don't know what it is i mean shout out to everybody who hooked us up with this hotel i don't mean to talk down about it no but at the same time i'm gonna give my assessment honestly as a consumer it looks like what a 60 year old person's idea of what a millennial wants to be in yes it looks like a pinterest hellscape in here yes it looks like instagram threw up on the inside of a hotel and the funniest shit is when we check in they're like and just so
Starting point is 00:22:31 you know the rooms are european inspired so they're a little bit cozier which is code for no closets right the motherfucking shower i don't know if y'all hear that i'm banging on the shower the shower is a phone booth right next to your bed that you can reach. Anna's head is sitting on a sink. But it's like well designed. Aesthetically nice. Yeah, it's aesthetically nice. It's working.
Starting point is 00:22:57 I've got my, like, yes, there's no closet, but they give you a bunch of pegs to hang your shit on. You look like a down and out elementary school teacher, like at a halfway house. Yeah. The TV says your name when you come in. Yours said your name. Yeah. I said,
Starting point is 00:23:11 hello, Edgar. What was it? Oh, mine said, Hey, you want to watch internet TV? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Mine kept being like Netflix, Hulu, like all these streaming platforms. Hey kid, we get it. I turned the TV off to start working on the doc today. And it came back on. It was like,
Starting point is 00:23:24 what about internet TV, millennial? What about these internet flicks? What makes me mad is the inconsistency in culture. When you come in, they give you a free drink ticket, but it's a poker chip. That's the only Vegas thing about this entire thing, and then everything else is like the burritos are zombie-inspired for some reason.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Well, because that's millennial right it's like they're chasing trends it's just so inconsistent there's a korean x mexican food collab yeah which is actually tasty it was a tasty yeah but you know the kogi truck did that to sort of bring that it's all sort of derivative off of things that were huge like eight years ago it was it was designed by the grandchild of whoever designed TGI Fridays. And like he's a lit millennial who like is just like they even had extreme sports on. It's like we don't do normal sports. Yeah, that was weird. You pointed that out.
Starting point is 00:24:19 Like they had extreme sports being projected on the. The funniest shit was when I was checking in, the person at the front desk got a call on the line and goes, hey, what's up? It's Amy at the... What do you need? Actually, can you hold on? I'm dealing with a customer. And that seemed to have been the protocol
Starting point is 00:24:35 for everybody using the phone. It was like this sort of like, hey, we're casual. We're kids. It totally is because housekeeping lets you know that they're coming by knocking the beat of grinding no yes they do bro dude i wish i could do it on the table fuck it all right do it on the table it's like
Starting point is 00:24:50 this it's like housekeeping no housekeeping i heard to do it like five times that wasn't the beat from grinding i'm not to nitpick there no it was bad it was i'm not great at it yeah i'm not great at it but it'm not great at it. But it was a rhythm. Wait, but then they did housekeeping rhythmically in between the drums. Housekeeping. Wow. Grinding.
Starting point is 00:25:11 And did they have like a Dyson little like cord, like a cordless vacuum? Of course, of course. Just that's it. Of course. And she was naked. I think the girl who checked us in, who was very nice, by the way, but I think she had like a fake tattoo on her no really either that or like it was a tattoo that like she was being removed anytime i'm in
Starting point is 00:25:30 like hanging out with a millennial i'm always like looking for the tattoos also old you're elder millennial yeah yeah i'm elder millennial and so i'm like you know are you respecting the culture that we created exactly and i'm always conscious and i was like these people have to have tattoos they would be fired if they didn't have i haven't seen a regular looking person working in this hotel like even the white people have dreads yeah right that's true i was like yo one shout out to homegirl with the cinnamon bun roll one dreadlock curled up like the snail are we gonna have to bleep the name of the hotel? Probably. Oh, well. It's a millennial-inspired hotel. And the other thing they did, like we were talking about, it's so small, but it's smart.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Like, it works is the thing that I want to come back to. Be a f***ing apologist. No, I'm not being an apologist. So, like, we were standing over there waiting for our delicious nachos, talking shit about the place, being like, this place is so stupid. Look at the decor. And then we came back to the table. One of our fans was having a drink with us, and we were like, so what do you think of this place? She's staying here.
Starting point is 00:26:36 And she was like, I like it. It's fun. I was like, oh, yeah. How old are you? How old are you, 25? Yeah, all right. I'm watching. That's when I'm like, I'm old, too.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Yeah, because the lobby I'm a lot older. That's when I'm like, I'm old too. Yeah, because the lobby has a DJ spinning around the clock. It has giant versions of your favorite board games. The gigantic Uno card set, I'm sorry, that was a step too far. I can understand the Connect Four and Big Jenga, but gigantic playing cards, they're not even useful. How are you going gonna be coy about your hand and uno when each card is three feet high you're like oh okay i see what you're doing
Starting point is 00:27:12 you like shuffling a four foot card right which i hit you with wild drop connect for it does make more fun with uno it's just like so unruly as fuck yeah but yeah i mean it's fun and uh i mean it's fun and it's profitable no it's fun it's fun for millennials and it's profitable because i like think about how many extra rooms they cram into this like a normal hotel would have half as many rooms yeah yeah but they were just you know they like to put the rooms in half these are fancy europe. Yeah, fancy capitalist cubicles for millennials. Yeah, it's just they learned how to... Respect the game, bro. It's basically like the social media manager from
Starting point is 00:27:51 a company was like, what if I opened a hotel? Yeah. Well, you know, there were like, I saw like masks you could use for like gramming. Yeah, yeah, yeah. As if you're at a wedding type shit. There's literally a giant pillow in the lobby that says do it for the gram. No, that's the table. Oh, my bad, my bad. The that says, do it for the gram. No, that's the table. The big gigantic table that says, do it for the gram.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Oh, but there's also a moving podcast studio in the lobby. Oh, that's right. Yeah. Yes. That we were like, oh, dope. We can use that. And then we saw it was the size of, I'm not even joking, like a bathroom stall. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:20 It's very tiny. It's like Darth Vader's pod that he sleeps in. Well, it's fine. It's for two people. But you can't do a second-rate podcast like this. That's why I have to do it in a noisy-ass hotel room. We sound like some spoiled podcast. I want to bring something up real quick if I can.
Starting point is 00:28:33 Yeah. Is it about the game you're watching? It is. They're down by 30 points. There's no way they're going to win this game. They being who? San Antonio. The San Antonio Spurs are down by 33 points.
Starting point is 00:28:44 At some point, y'all should stop right like oh like a mercy queen in the end i feel like they should like no i don't want to keep going get the fucking break speed off you yeah the coach will leave them in like he's leaving his first stringers in because he wants to molest and yeah feel the shame he's like oh you don't want to run my offense or my defense okay i mean I mean, the unfortunate thing is San Antonio just lost by 30 to Dallas. So they're struggling right now. Yeah, they are. But anyway, for those of you who are time traveling,
Starting point is 00:29:12 this is a game that has already happened. But yeah, enjoy that little bit of insight. Yeah. All right. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Starting point is 00:31:27 All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110. 120. She's terrified. Should we wake her up? Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:31:43 What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people.
Starting point is 00:31:59 There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. How do you feel about biscuits?
Starting point is 00:32:19 Hi, I'm Akilah Hughes, and I'm so excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit, where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the Rebels, into something everyone in the South loves, the Biscuits. I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean? The Boone County Rebels will stay the Boone County Rebels with the image of the Biscuits. It's right here in black and white in France. A lion. An individual that came to the school saying that God sent him to talk to me about the mascot switch. As a leader, you choose hills that you want to die on. Why would we want to be the losing team?
Starting point is 00:32:55 I just take all the other stuff out of it. Segregation academies. When civil rights said that we need to integrate public schools, these charter schools were exempt from that. Bigger than a flag or mascot. You have to be ready for serious backlash. Listen to Rebel Spirit on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. and we're back and uh off the bat i wanted to talk about the shitty awkward high five heard around the world between vladimir putin and mbs yeah you said white guy high five i'm like i think
Starting point is 00:33:34 only one of those guys counts as right yeah well it's just you asking the wrong person putin's just got his hand up and he's like yeah There's like a big pause before Where he gets that White guy anxiety about how am I gonna do This high five I don't know so for those of you who Clearly are not looking at the gif We're looking at
Starting point is 00:33:57 From the G20 when Vladimir Putin And Mohammed bin Salman the crown prince Of Saudi Arabia caught each other At a little summit. And the way they high-five sent chills through my spine. I just retweeted the video and said, well, you both fucking the same nation.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Because it's sort of like, they're like, yeah, boy. Ask about nations. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's the confidence. And also the funniest part is when Trump sheepishly comes in from the back. He's like, what are you guys talking about me?
Starting point is 00:34:26 He's looking from a distance like, hey, what's up, guys? These are two men who clearly have some kind of power over Trump, whether it's clearly financial in terms of MBS or it's some kind of compromise thing for Putin. We're looking the other way with the Khashoggi murder. We're looking the other way with the khashoggi murder we're looking the other way with everything right with russia yeah we already talked about the fact that you can see trump in the background yeah yeah he just he comes in late like but there's a photo that someone put online where you can like see him looking looking yeah oh at them it's like a very split second but
Starting point is 00:35:00 he's like and you can see the sadness in his eyes of like, I won't be in that. Well, yeah. And Putin's clearly doing it. This is demonstrative. He's showing out. Yeah. It's like he's somewhere with an ex and he's trying to show how good I'm doing. Oh, I've been who? Donald? Never heard of him.
Starting point is 00:35:19 I don't know him. Never heard of him. Exactly. MBS is bae now. Right. And yeah, he's just trying to to he's doing it for trump he's doing it for the western cameras to just be like yo i am public enemy number one i am going to fuck you up like look this dude murdered one of your journalists and now he is my best friend
Starting point is 00:35:41 because he did that well can i can i be real with y'all well and it hurts me that we're not talking about this how sad it must feel to be donald trump right now because your friends don't want to let you go talk to him they're like don't go don't go over there don't you can't talk to them don't talk to them they're not good for you no and he all he wants to do is go over there but he can't because he has to put on a show for everybody else also yeah he didn't even want this i'm going back to the game real quick. Everyone's doing this thing of wearing suits for Craig Sager. And Mark Jackson is clearly not playing along.
Starting point is 00:36:12 He's like, I have boundaries. I have boundaries, bro. Wear a stupid-ass suit because this nigga died of cancer? Not me, bro. Yo, Mark Jackson's the wrong one. Mama, there go that man with no empathy. yo mark jackson's the wrong one mama there go that man with no empathy but like i just think that like donald trump is like again i have no sympathy for the man yeah yeah he's evil but this is a fuck situation bro like this thing is mocking you in your goddamn
Starting point is 00:36:37 face and then he also uncanceled their meeting so trump what basically trump's people canceled the meeting for him and were like you this would be very bad and then putin was like we don't buy his uh reasoning for that and we're still gonna have the meeting anyway yeah the correct you're not breaking up with me was so fucking savage was like hmm like it was so sarcastic it's like that's interesting that they say they canceled it for those reasons but we feel that that's entirely not the case. It's probably due to domestic problems that the president is facing in his own country. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:37:10 The meeting, they're like, they will meet, whether it's informally or not. Yeah. That's some pimp shit. Yeah, absolutely. That's like, yo, you're not breaking up with me. No. Right. Like, okay, watch this.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Yeah. Which is... Very frightening. Which is a good sign that you should get a restraining order against somebody, but... Why do you do that? The UN or NATO? Right.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Yeah, who's gonna sign that restraining order? Yeah, it really just solidifies him as openly being the villain, and there's just nothing we can do because of who our president is at the moment. He's just a punk, bro. Straight up. He's a punk. Doesn't want to be tough. And I get it. He's just a punk, bro. Like, straight up. He's a punk.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Doesn't want to, like, you know, be tough. And I get it. It's not an easy situation to be tough in, but come on, bro. Have some balls, at least. Yeah, self-respect. He was never... I think that's the difference,
Starting point is 00:37:55 is we're trying to look at him as even being a president. He's just some fucking schemer who found his dumbass way into it and was like, oh, shit, I'm the president now? He's just a narcissism complex with a dick that just like goes around just being like yo like what
Starting point is 00:38:12 is going to either get my dick wet or make me feel important. That was the name of my first porno. Narcissism complex with a dick. Yeah it was. It didn't get a lot of good reviews on Pornhub. What was your porn name? Haitian Stallion. Oh that's very complex with a dick. Yeah, it was. It didn't get a lot of good reviews on Pornhub. Huh? What was your porn name?
Starting point is 00:38:25 Haitian Stallion. Oh, that's very original. Yeah. Isn't your porn name supposed to be your middle, wait, what is it, your pet's name plus the street you were born on? And those are both also correct. Your first pet was a stallion? No, the cat called Haitian.
Starting point is 00:38:42 I was born on Stallion Ave. I was born on Stallion Ave, yeah. All right. Well, just taking us back to the reality of living under this administration, a federal ethics agency is telling civil servants to avoid workplace talk about impeachment or the resistance. Or the, you mean the hashtag resistance? For 705 days, which equals out to the day after
Starting point is 00:39:07 2020 election so yeah it's the office of special counsel hatch act unit yeah so it says please don't engage in quote strong criticism or praise of a presidential administration's policy and actions which presidential administration you think they're talking about probably fdr yeah fdr jfk so what does this mean man because i feel like you know this whole impeachment stuff has been like the girl that used to text me in high school and said i really really like you and i'll be like hey can we hang out and no text back that's what this whole impeachment stuff has felt like a bunch of play but no action right like a lot of what is yeah what does this mean like what does this mean i don't know we'll we'll have to wait and see well because the hatch act is they want to keep the executive as like apolitical as possible as
Starting point is 00:39:56 non-partisan as possible so it's they're just sort of like i get it this guy sucks and the objective take on this is this motherfucker got to go. But let's try and pretend that this is still the U.S. government. I don't know. I think it's too late. I mean, like, try that low, bro. Yeah. I mean, they should have looked out when he was doing all this bullshit as president rather than, like, coming down on, like, the citizens who are now being, like reacting to the situation there and on account of his actions.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Yeah, I don't think I don't think we should get too far down the path of being like, oh, it's a foregone conclusion. They're fucked and they're just trying to make it like less awkward and bloody for them. I think this is definitely them trying to suppress like Super Producer Anna Hosnier said, like it's 1984 shit. like super producer Anna Hosnier said like it's 1984 shit. It's like you cannot say the words that we don't want you to say because that fucks up our ability to rule. But can't they read your thoughts in 1984?
Starting point is 00:40:55 Isn't that a part of the book? No, they just control your thoughts by having Big Brother, having a TV in every house and a camera watching you at all times. Sounds fun. Yeah. They figured out a better way to control us with social media.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Yeah. Well, yeah, they're just trying to stave off the fact that this whole, because of him being in office, everything has become politicized. Right. Unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:41:20 Yeah. But I mean, I think political engagement at this point is not a bad thing no it's not and to try to limit that is crazy well yeah especially it's like what do you want to do if if someone's being so destructive at that point it's like you're just gonna watch the shit burn down with you in it like you can't even talk about it's not like these people are openly being like all right how are we gonna organize to do this thing it's merely like hey when you're blowing off steam at work i need to talk about how bad the boss is fucking right right exactly yeah and i'll bring it up
Starting point is 00:41:51 again just a thing i've mentioned on the show a couple times before that some of the countries where nazis first were like rising to power there was a lot of news stories but like by the end of it right before world war ii like the media and everybody was just lot of news stories but like by the end of it right before world war ii like the media and everybody was just tired of it they were like this story is old and they just got bored of writing about it so they didn't have any stories about the nazis anymore it was just that's so wild yeah that's so wild and so lazy because like what kind of news stories are going on in germany that they were like i want to write about this instead yeah right y'all were poor as hell y'all don't write about about they were they were really into true crime actually
Starting point is 00:42:28 really yeah did they have podcast about it no well that's it for my takes guys i'm gonna go back to my room hey edgar where can people find you uh let's talk about the russian some more this is this kind of last week it was story after story and the onion was getting Oh my god. we're kind of seeing sort of maybe where Mueller is going with things. So for starters, I think it's very clear to people that this dude gave up all the fucking goods. Cohen? Any kind of Trump land crimes he knew about or was involved in during his time working for Trump. That is clear.
Starting point is 00:43:17 There's a very clear contrast between how Mueller decided to deal with Manafort versus how he's dealing with Cohen. Cohen did arguably just as bad shit or probably did just as bad shit. muller decided to deal with manafort versus how he's dealing with cohen like cohen did arguably just as bad shit or probably did just as bad shit and i mean he's getting zero six months yeah because it's funny because like he's he's on the hook for like tax fraud and campaign finance violations and right now he only pled guilty to lying to congress which is a very small charge right but that just shows you like what muller is sort of working with he's like okay plead out to this and then if you cooperate on these other things he's recommending he's like
Starting point is 00:43:49 given like according to this agreement if michael cohen does cooperate fully and is forthright and honest about everything he's talking about knocking his sentence down from zero to six months right man you know that's a good that means he's playing a fucking ball. Can I say something? Please. That bothers me about this whole thing. What's up? Here we go.
Starting point is 00:44:10 Are we talking about the Spurs? No. We're going to talk about this. Because this game is terrible. I regret asking you guys to put it on for me. I remember in middle school, we had a very clear rule, which is snitches get stitches. Yeah. Right. I remember in middle school, we had a very clear rule, which is snitches get stitches. Yeah, right. But to hear the excitement in your voice, Miles, and in your voice, Jack, talking about a man who snitched, disgust.
Starting point is 00:44:33 I love it. Yeah. Snitch to a registered Republican. And I'm like, yeah. Would you be mad if a cop snitched on racist white cops? I mean. Yeah, all all right so fall back on that one what i'm saying is this guy is approaching master splinter in terms of becoming the greatest rat of all time like he's not fucking around and that's what's funny because you look you contrast
Starting point is 00:44:57 that with paul manafort who's trying to play games with robert marlowe it is not working out i think they're talking about taking him to trial again. Yeah. Trying to find more charges, which they have plenty of. But I think that just shows you too, like Michael Cohen has a great deal. He's like, hey, you're honest. You might not even go to jail. Wow. Just give up the goods.
Starting point is 00:45:16 And he is on his way to doing that. Did you see him say the other day, like he hopes Michelle Obama will unite the country? Who said that? Michael Cohen. like he hopes michelle obama will unite the country who said that michael cohen he's like i hope for the sake of my wife and my kids that michelle obama will unite 2020 man you know at this point fucking um at the other other interesting thing to look at in that plea deal is that he waived his right to change the venue from the southern district of new york right which is a thing that muller intentionally has done to keep it away from if you know if matt
Starting point is 00:45:45 whittaker the fucking dick toilet toilet salesman wants to just dead the muller investigation muller has already seeded that in other jurisdictions where he's like you can't kill something that is already dead he's like if you strike me down i'll only become more powerful that's that's the shit is that like we haven't heard him talk yet no what if he comes in just talking like that just like fucking obi-wan you cannot kill something that is hard i do not exist right how can you i am nowhere and everywhere and like the whole thing is like the nickname of the southern district of new york is the sovereign district of new york it's because they have the most seasoned u.s attorneys and prosecutors they deal with the most high profile shit they're just on another level to the point that like main justice in dc doesn't really fuck with them because of distance
Starting point is 00:46:36 their sort of stature they're just known to sort of run almost independently to the department of justice this is just bring me back to what i said earlier, man. That girl that I was telling you about, she was so fine. She was so smart. We all like the same things. She texted. Again, no action, bro. So y'all telling me all this
Starting point is 00:46:54 and I'm into it, but I ain't seen nothing yet. Yeah, but if you had had a little more patience, maybe you don't know what was happening. Damn, you right, bro. The other thing, too, is like- By the way, So sovereign district of new york is the worst nickname because it's more
Starting point is 00:47:09 formal than southern district rather than like the lit ass lit district of new york um but the other thing too is a lot of people pointed out how like matt whittaker's background as a u.s attorney like when he was in iowa and selling big dick toilets? Yeah, dude. He was playing small fucking ball compared to the Southern District. Yeah. Because one of his biggest moments as a prosecutor was basically a failure at trial. That's crazy. He's not even the most capable prosecutor as it stands. And then you compare that to what the SDNY is.
Starting point is 00:47:39 It's like the Thunderdome, Rucker Park, the UFC, and the Super Bowl all wrapped in one. So suffice it to say that Whitaker is not even built to withstand some kind of confrontation. Y'all is putting a big booty on this girl that's not going to text me back, bro. That's all y'all doing right now. Well, what I'm saying is, at the very least, something will happen. I mean, there aren't many cards he can play because even if you go down the road that, let's say, Whitaker does try and dead the Mueller investigation he can't really do much because he's put things in motion in other districts where he can't really intervene in that sense because at that point DOJ is doing their job
Starting point is 00:48:13 Marcy Wheeler who has been just spot on on all this shit she's an independent journalist you want your skin to crawl go check out was empty wheel at empty yeah at empty wheel on twitter yeah but she's also like she dissected the bush administration like and the media and how they use the media to sell their rock war in 2007 she's been like super ahead of the curve in terms of i i think she's just really well sourced in terms of this story and she was said something offhandedly. One of the Crooked podcasts was interviewing her. And she was like, so any other president, if they were in a situation like this, they would have this Spanish armada of lawyers. Like they would have all the lawyers.
Starting point is 00:48:57 The little dream team. Trump is underlawyered just for being a normal person. He got one lawyer, Rudy Giuliani. He does not have legal representation to deal with this shit. And she's just like, he's not in a good place. Like he's not gonna do well in this if it comes down the way it looks like it's gonna come down.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Yeah, well, hey, you do what you gotta do, man. We'll do what we gotta do. Yeah, we'll see. The other interesting thing was like when you looked at the way the Trump organization was even trying to get this moscow building deal done was like so amateurish like they were literally googling kremlin right to try and find somebody to talk to about how to make this deal happen googling kremlin yeah and one of the sweeteners to the deal was like hey we'll give putin a penthouse the tower. It's going to be worth like 50 million of like your
Starting point is 00:49:46 fake made up value of this building. By the way, Putin is the richest human being in the history of the world, you dumb motherfuckers. He has other people holding his money who have to then waste it to try and just sort of park it somewhere else. To hide the money. But I mean, hey,
Starting point is 00:50:01 you get what you pay for. He's one of the best people. It's just we're so outclassed. I mean, I mean, hey, you get what you pay for. He's one of the best people. I've only had the best people. It's just we're so outclassed. I mean, he really, Putin is making his point that, like, democracy doesn't work that well, man. Right, it doesn't. Because you can get fooled by a jackass like this,
Starting point is 00:50:21 and then you have one of your dumbest people running the country just because he was good at manipulating public opinion. Yeah. Now, like, look at him compared to me you know well let's not be you know leon let with it you know and start holding the football out before i'm not don bb comes and smacks it out i'm scared for the country like i think the country's in a really bad place oh 100 the damage is so severe at this point i don't think that there's any guarantee that you know the muller investigation is gonna like bring him down in any dramatic way i'm just saying like in terms of the game of chess between putin and trump it's not even like it was over in three moves and then we've all just been watching it like watching him fucking
Starting point is 00:51:02 crip walk on him or whatever right well even now you even look at the chess game between muller and trump and muller's also just smashing him to bits too and again not to say that this is going to lead to the inevitable demise of the administration or whatever but from a legal standpoint he is definitely setting up moves well if this nigga's so easy to beat bro how i get in on this game because hey how do i bet on this is vegas taking action i could beat this man vegas is taking action on well but they're taking action on whether he finishes this term they're sick bucks bro that's come on bro y'all can't be betting on our demise like that yeah well they can i feel like vegas would bet i'm like yo are we all gonna go to jail like are we all gonna die in 2030 like they're
Starting point is 00:51:44 taking bets on who's gonna collect after that if we all do i think it's scottish casinos actually it's the casinos in the uk that are my fault my fault vegas i came at y'all real hot i want to apologize y'all are a respectable institution yes vegas is so respectable and ethical, and we would not like to suggest otherwise. And then, so Cohen's guilty plea is being used to kind of, at least people are pointing to it as maybe an indication that a lot of people in the Trump organization and Nunes and the GOP may have actually helped Mueller. Yes. Well, we all knew how whack that Devin Nunes House Special Intelligence Committee on the Russia investigation worked. It was a total clown show in which basically because it was so partisan,
Starting point is 00:52:36 anytime people from the executive branch came in or Trump officials from the campaign came in to testify about what they knew about Russian meddling, they all were just like, oh, I don't know, just basically sort of nearly encouraged to lie because at the end of the day, the way like lying to Congress charges work is, I think it's only happened like six times before Michael Cohen in like the history of the Congress. And that's because usually it's not something that an external law enforcement organization looks at and analyzes.
Starting point is 00:53:03 It's usually on the members of Congress to take and look at the information and say, okay, I think we need this person clearly lied to us. Now you need to begin charges against this person. So for a lot of these people, like the Paul Manaforts, Michael Cohens of the world, they went in there feeling great because they're like, oh, the homie runs the thing. He's not going to make it hot for me. So I can say whatever I want. So now cut to Michael Cohen pleading guilty. I did lie to all these people. And the thing he's not going to make it hot for me so i can say whatever i want yeah so now cut to michael cohen pleading guilty i did lie to all these people and the thing is robert muller has not been able to look at the transcripts of what devin nunez and trey gowdy all the like what the actual testimony was from these other officials who testified in front of this house committee
Starting point is 00:53:40 where they were basically encouraging people from the trump orbit yeah don't worry so basically the house is like d'angelo russell and trump's team is like a swaggy p where they're all being like oh i fuck this bitch i was fucking this girl and they're like oh yeah yeah yeah tell me more tell me more it's on camera and then we're iggy as hell in a way but here's the deal now that the homie devon nunez can no longer keep that information away from robert muller because now that the house has gone blue that means adam schiff now runs that and he's said i'm giving everything to robert muller see i had a feeling that devon nunez wasn't that good at planning for the future when he got a call from trump and like ran out into traffic
Starting point is 00:54:22 right because like yo to pretend that he was doing like a good thing. Yeah. He jumped out of a car in the middle of traffic to like go to the White House to be like, yes, sir. Whatever you say, sir. Here's this information. I'm going to pretend that I, you didn't just give me, but I will pretend I'm giving you from my sources.
Starting point is 00:54:38 It was very convoluted. You're saying that guy doesn't plan for the future. Well, the thing is now that they have Cohen saying that, and then now they'll be able to look at other people's testimony, that means people like Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka, there are a lot of other people who they might have their turn now. Right. Okay. Because now you're looking at, they're like, oh, well, we have you on wax now saying lies. Well, now you just told me that this girl wears glasses, and I'm hella into it. She just let her hair down. It was in that updo uh yeah and so i think that's where it's gonna get really interesting now because trump has always said like if they get near my family
Starting point is 00:55:14 i mean like he gives a fuck but i know but we'll see what happens and then we'll also see how loyal his kids are he's also not loyal at all bro he's also been talking about how he's drawing a red line around his business. And it's, you know, Mueller's looking at your business now. And I don't know that you can get away with doing shit about that. Nope. All right, we're going to take another quick break. We'll be right back. Daphne Caruana Galizia was a Maltese investigative journalist who on October 16, 2017, was murdered.
Starting point is 00:55:50 There are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate. My name is Manuel Delia. I am one of the hosts of Crooks Everywhere, a podcast that unhurts the plot to murder a one-woman Wikileaks. Daphne exposed the culture of crime and corruption that were turning her beloved country into a mafia state. And she paid the ultimate price. Listen to Crooks Everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:56:34 Hey, I'm Gianna Pardenti. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions.
Starting point is 00:56:57 Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do. Like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote, what is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to
Starting point is 00:57:22 thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project.
Starting point is 00:57:45 All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110. 120. She's terrified. Should we wake her up? Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:58:00 What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people.
Starting point is 00:58:16 There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. They're just dreams. So excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit, where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the Rebels, into something everyone in the South loves, the Biscuits. I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean? The Boone County Rebels will stay the Boone County Rebels with the image of the Biscuits. It's right here in black and white in print. A lion. An individual that came to the school saying that God sent him to talk to me about the mascot switch.
Starting point is 00:59:08 As a leader, you choose hills that you want to die on. Why would we want to be the losing team? I'd just take all the other stuff out of it. On the segregation academies, when civil rights said that we need to integrate public schools, these charter schools were exempt from that. Bigger than a flag or mascot you have to be ready for serious backlash listen to rebel spirit on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts And we're back. And we wanted to talk about the Botham Jean shooting
Starting point is 00:59:46 because his murderer has finally been charged with, get this, murder. Yeah. Oh. Initially, if you don't remember, Amber Geiger claimed that she had wandered into what she thought was her apartment and a mysterious black man
Starting point is 01:00:05 was there so she had to clap him up right she is a police officer she's a police officer uh and at the time everyone was like this is so yeah transparently a murder like it's disgusting and you know the texas rangers uh you know led by chuck norris and a rod they did their little investigation and they came back they said i think this is only a manslaughter charge but then the dallas da did their own investigation combed through the evidence interviewed over 300 people in which people who were like on the same floor as both of them john were saying i heard her knock on the door asked to be let in and then the gunshots rang out that sort of began to give them the idea like oh so this this was more than just like me fiddling or like her version which
Starting point is 01:00:44 was i stumbled into the wrong unit. How'd you even get in there? Was it unlocked? Who let you in? Not like your key would work for that door. Do we know what she was doing? Was she drunk? They don't know.
Starting point is 01:00:55 I don't know. I haven't read into it that much because at this point, I don't care what the fuck the problem was. It's just so weird. You don't do that shit. Yeah. No, obviously.
Starting point is 01:01:05 I got some questions. How do I ask do i ask this well first question is i remember it came out that he had like gun like ammunition in his in his house and stuff like that like they found all that were they able to figure out what that was about or anything like that i don't know i think there's a lot of mysterious relevant at that point i mean like the big thing after was like they found weed yeah that was like it was like they found weed. Yeah, that was like a big thing. And it was like, really? That's how you're trying to justify his murder? Yeah, who cares? But like initially, you know, it was a manslaughter charge.
Starting point is 01:01:33 And I guess the legal hook here is that murder will, even though the penalty will be much higher, it'll be much harder to prove. Oh, yeah. But you know what? I have a feeling if people with half a brain i hope they do have one that they look at the evidence at least from even what i've reporting or what i've seen from the reporting if it is in fact truthful it seems like such an egregious act an overstep from a police officer to just commit murder against another person of color who was unarmed in their own home like this was like peak police fuckery like you can't even front this with like the whole i mean it's crazy because these other cases at least like there was like
Starting point is 01:02:11 maybe like a struggle like there was like these other things around it but the cases this year have been so mind-bogglingly like trash like the one where they killed the wrong guy again did you see that oh at the mall at the mall shooting with the good guy with the gun scenario? Yeah. They killed him and then there was the one at the bar where the security guard stopped a shooting
Starting point is 01:02:30 and then they killed him. So like this year, I'm just like, man, at least the other ones are arresting a criminal and that went too far. I don't even want to give them that. But it's just like this one
Starting point is 01:02:40 is just like, man, y'all are just fucking up now where y'all are just killing the wrong niggas overall. Yeah. Well, i'm glad to see that this has at least got someone on trial for murder yeah because it used to just be like well manslaughter or like you know they were justified yeah but yeah this one is like you knocked on somebody's fucking door right yeah killed a person in their own home yeah it's not like she fired a gun out in the hallway and it went through well yeah exactly it was an errant shot that was hit an innocent
Starting point is 01:03:10 by the trader joe situation right i just hope that his family does see justice and god i just couldn't i hope that we can at least whatever it's it's pie in the sky thinking i'm too cynical when it comes to police shootings but But please, can we begin? Give us a fucking break here. Yeah, man. What made you so cynical about police shootings, Miles? I don't know, man. American history.
Starting point is 01:03:33 X. Oh, my gosh. I'm going back to my room, bro. Thanks for having me, man. Gang, gang. NYU has launched a study that seems like it might literally just be designed to troll Trump people. And the internet at large. Yeah, and the internet at large.
Starting point is 01:03:50 So they're studying whether there's a connection between fragile masculinity and voting habits with the idea of whether Trump supporters are more likely to Google things such as erectile dysfunction, hair loss, how to get girls, penis enlargement, penis size, steroids, testosterone, and Viagra. I'm not gonna lie,
Starting point is 01:04:13 I've Googled two of those things. Yeah, I was gonna say, I've Googled a couple of those things. Hair loss. God, hey, nobody asked you to fucking speculate. We've all Googled hair loss, right? I've Googled Viagra for my dick. i've googled how to get girls i'll be honest how to get girls is eating hair well she never texted back bro yeah she never texted girls
Starting point is 01:04:32 i'm so good at it now yeah well no this study is interesting because they haven't found like causation but there's a lot of correlational evidence uh because you know they were saying that uh you know according to the study that, you know, according to the study, that the political process provides a way that fragile men can reaffirm their masculinity by supporting tough politicians and policies. Men can reassure others and themselves of their own manliness.
Starting point is 01:04:57 So they give an example that this sociologist named Rob Willer has shown that men whose sense of masculinity was threatened increased their support of aggressive foreign policy. So, so far I get that. I see that. I see how that goes. Because you want to feel powerful. Right. Exactly. And if you're one of these people who's like, well, I like
Starting point is 01:05:12 dancing, but I don't think I'm a woman. So I have to then compensate by being racist or being like a cop in this vitriolic rhetoric against immigrants or some shit. That's sort of like the balancing act that these people are playing. And I have to admit that nothing has ever gotten my dick more hard than a trump rally hey those mega heads
Starting point is 01:05:32 but i think you know i guess that was the next step for this study was like okay well then how can you map these search terms or these ideas to then like some kind of voting behavior and well first what they had to do was like look at all those search terms and see if there was a connection between that and people's like sort of fragile masculinity and if the people who searched those also were in a bucket of men who were concerned about living up to the ideals of manhood yeah and they were like okay there was they were actually seeing a high probability that's also the case so then they took that a step further and they they basically mapped that against how the voting like the heat map against like uh just the general map of the united states and you can see that okay we're seeing a
Starting point is 01:06:17 high concentration in trump country uh i mean there are certain areas where it might be a little different than other times but again i think we're not saying it's causation, but there is correlation. Right. Because it's not a perfect science. But when you sort of look at where the heat is, it's like, okay, Texas, the Bible Belt. We're seeing a little something. Yeah. Southeast.
Starting point is 01:06:38 Yeah. It's also crazy that chicken just got dropped off at the podcast just now. I know. Oh, yeah. Jaquese just came through with the chicken delivery yeah life is good man jack he's looks so in his element with his like chicago cold weather garb on yeah he's got a he's got a scarf and he's pulling it off and then just the last thing we wanted to talk about speaking of cold weather uh alaska got
Starting point is 01:07:06 just rocked by a 7.0 earthquake the pictures are wild man i don't know if it's because the ground was frozen or something but like it just there's just giant cracks like shit that i haven't come on jakey's this is a professional we let you in the room you fucking dropping shit bro what the hell is going on bro what the fuck's up with your boys um this actually ties into a weird thing that happened on sunday the 11th of november there was a series of unusual seismic pulses that rippled around the world uh that only like one person who's a seismologist was paying attention to it it wasn't even perceptible but they say it was like it caused this island to like vibrate at a weird
Starting point is 01:07:51 frequency and then it like traveled around the world like it went so the way they talk about it it made this island a small island in the indian ocean between Madagascar and Africa, ring like a bell for 20 minutes. From there, it reverberated across Africa, setting off geological sensors in Zambia, Kenya, and Ethiopia, and then across the Atlantic, where it could be picked up in Chile, New Zealand, Canada, and even Hawaii, nearly 11,000 miles away from the original site of the seismic activity. And seismologists were saying, I don't think I've seen anything like it.
Starting point is 01:08:31 So it's just this like weird mystery where it's just another one of those stories where you're like, oh, we don't know how any of this shit works. Or maybe somebody was playing Mo Bamba really loud. Right. I could believe that. So loud that you could hear it from the Indian Ocean to Hawaii see this is the kind of shit that keeps me up do y'all remember like a few years ago when all those animals that started walking out of Yosemite Park and
Starting point is 01:08:52 no one could explain why oh yeah big groups of bison just like leaving Yosemite Park and everyone's just like we don't know what's happening I was up for like days cuz like man the big ones come in like right right right no so now jack is just giving me some that i'm gonna freak out about because like i'm like are you you're not into earthquakes i just don't i mean i've only felt one once i was like this is very unimpressive but now i feel like it's gonna get back at me now like you know like the earthquake comes to la yeah yeah because isn't la like our california overall due for a big one it's due for like one for the ages and when you look at the fault lines man there's one that like goes along
Starting point is 01:09:30 the five that will cut through burbank there's another fault line that goes through downtown don't tell me these la is due for the biggest earthquake of our lifetime but there's this fault up in the northwest the pacific northwest that is like they think Portland's going to be gone. Like it's insane. It's called like the really big one because they just found out about it like five years ago. And the way they found out about it was there was this ghost forest,
Starting point is 01:09:59 they called it, over in Japan. And it was like a story from Japan about this ghost tsunami that came out of nowhere they didn't know where it came from because there was an earthquake that could be felt in japan and it killed all the trees in this forest and they were just like what the fuck was that and then from that fault it was from a fault off of america and it traveled all the way across the pacific ocean and caused a huge tsunami over there. And that was like a hundred.
Starting point is 01:10:27 It was before people were officially like here and paying attention to the Pacific Northwest in the United States. And so Japan has been paying attention to this shit forever. Yeah, we don't forget. Right. Shout out to Pearl Harbor. I had to come in and send that tsunami our way. I'm really torn about the tsunami in Pearl.
Starting point is 01:10:47 Yeah, it's really tough, man. It's a tough place to be in. I think I fucked that up. I think the ghost forest is actually in Portland, and they didn't know where it came from, and that's how they figured out. And Japan just had the ghost tsunami, and they didn't know where that came from.
Starting point is 01:11:00 Ah, okay. No, but I have heard about that, like the sort of inexplicable tsunami that just came out of nowhere. Yeah, it layout like the sort of inexplicable tsunami that just came out of nowhere yeah it's called the cascadia fault line oh that's terrifying bro why are you telling me this shit you don't live the whole time we were talking edgar had his face buried in his called the cascadia subduction zone and it's basically where the continental shelf like under the pacific ocean like digs into like the landmass that is the Pacific Ocean like digs into
Starting point is 01:11:25 like the landmass that is the Pacific Northwest. Alright Jack where can people find you? Where can people find you? In my bug out. It's scary bro. It's scary because it's something that we can't stop. You know what I'm saying? It's so helpless. We can't do anything. If it happens it happens. It's
Starting point is 01:11:41 underneath your feet. A hurricane you know it's coming. You can see that coming. a fire you have a little bit of a chance but yeah i mean like all landmasses used to be one landmass and then it's just been like a process of earthquakes that have like broken them apart i didn't know you were a creationist and jesus was riding dinosaurs oh yeah tell them what's your take on dinosaurs yeah yeah they're still around they're still around you're just not looking hard enough right and Jesus was riding dinosaurs. Oh yeah, tell them about your take on dinosaurs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're still around. They're still around.
Starting point is 01:12:08 You're just not looking hard enough. Right. Jesus is going to come back riding one, and they weren't real if I can't see them. Yo, if Jesus came back riding a dinosaur, that would be pretty tight. That would be tight. I'm not going to lie.
Starting point is 01:12:18 I would regret not living a good life, so I can go to heaven and do the same. Right, right, right. All right, well, I think that's a good note to go on.
Starting point is 01:12:25 Scare the shit out of everybody. Our Jesus dinosaur fantasy, right? Edgar, it's been lovely having you in my hotel room. Thank you so much for having me.
