Kay hasn't heard from her sister in seven years.
I have a proposal for you.
Come up here and document my project.
All you need to do is record everything like you always do.
What was that?
That was live audio of a woman's nightmare.
Can Kay trust her sister or is history repeating itself?

Hi, I'm Akilah Hughes, and I'm so excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit,
where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the Rebels,
into something everyone in the South loves, the Biscuits.
I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean?
It's right here in black and white in print.
It's bigger than a flag or mascot.
Listen to Rebel Spirit on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Jack O'Brien. That's Miles Graham. Miles, how you doing?
I'm thriving.
I'm the rose that grew from quarantine concrete.
Well, let's tell the people what's trending right now.
One of the things that's trending is Disneyland, which is weird because i thought they were shut down yeah well so universal studios recently came out and they were like you know march 12th was pretty
much the day that like the theme parks were like okay i think we gotta we gotta shut this shit down
um universal was like yeah i think we'll open up on april 1st and then on tuesday they're like you
know what actually not we're gonna at least be closed through April 19th.
Disneyland, from everything I'm seeing here, it looks like Disneyland and World are still set to reopen on April 1st.
And people are like, really?
Like, as in next week?
As in a week from today, April?
What was it, Thursday?
So I don't know.
I have a feeling they'll probably push that
back but as of right now a lot of people are scratching their heads like come on like are
you really believing what the president's saying or are you also so hell-bent on generating revenue
in your parks that you'll put the world at risk well they thought they thought the president's uh
claim that we would be back open for business by Easter was incredibly pessimistic.
Yeah, right.
Because Easter is at least a week after April 1st.
I don't know.
I'm a bad person who used to go to Christian school,
so I couldn't tell you when Easter is this year.
Easter 2020, quick Google, April 12th.
April 12th.
So they were like, you're off by a couple weeks, man.
You've got to get these people back on their rides.
Yeah.
Swap and spit.
Ugh.
Let's talk.
Carl Anthony Towns is trending for a depressing reason.
His mom is in a medically induced coma right now from coronavirus.
There's a really hard to watch video of him just, you know, kind of breaking down and telling people to stay the fuck home.
It's awful, man.
It's really, there's just so many people who are being affected by this right now.
Yeah.
And it's just, just you know we were saying
this in the beginning of the outbreak it's that like this is one of those issues or global crises
that it does it will touch you no matter where you live no matter what class you're in it can
it can touch you and i think yeah yeah when you see this especially for somebody you know we think
of we've already seen like oh well celebrities are getting access to tests and things before this that like even in a situation like this, you're a millionaire basketball player.
Your own mother comes down with it as having issues.
It's just it's tragic.
I'm starting to see the human toll a bit more because I think it was a little more abstract to people when the cases were like in the thousands and things like that and the deaths were in like the tens.
And now as that's increasing, I think the issue and the severity of it is going to be even more vivid for people who maybe need that level of detail for them to act.
Yeah.
Waffle House is trending. Yeah. Because they got the waffle house index man so the waffle house index you guys know about this yeah i know i know about that as as
regards uh hurricanes right or storm preparation yeah and fema build like monitor too yeah so fema monitors how many waffle houses are open at any given time in a
place that's either been struck by a hurricane or about to be struck by a hurricane to get a sense
of basically like the preparedness and like how uh people are reacting and just how a region is
doing because waffle houses if a waffle house can be open it will be open
right um yeah but i i haven't read anything about how waffle houses faring in the coronavirus
quarantine are they staying open well they they have there are some that are open there are some
that are closed and they say according to the House Index, it's an index red situation just because of the amount of closures there are.
They say like in a index yellow means Waffle Houses in certain locations have like a limited menu because that means like low food supplies or no power or limited power or whatever, what have you.
But this is more like, OK, we have places completely closed uh trying to do as much
as they can but an indication that yeah this is even though the once mighty waffle house is also
having to rethink staying open or not yeah yeah i feel like uh i haven't even really thought about
that like because i know mcdonald's is like facing some pushback because they're not giving their
employees uh paid sick leave uh or they they're giving their employees at corporate stores paid
sick leave but right um you know chain restaurants like this that don't have drive-thrus like what
what are they planning to i mean it's takeout and i think yeah yeah that's the that's the most they can do
yeah uh and finally rhino r-i-n-o i think that's how you pronounce that is trending
um the president tweeted this is really great news uh so the president retweeted an article with the headline,
Mitt Romney tests negative for coronavirus.
And the president tweeted, this is really great news.
I'm so happy I can barely speak.
He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S.
senator, but he is a rhino.
And I like him a lot!
Exclamation point.
What the fuck is he trying to even say like it doesn't rhino is republican in name only is yeah i mean i get that but i but i just
like the whole like the sarcasm thing like it's it doesn't even make sense like that you're being
sarcastic it just sounds like you're just sputtering out.
I don't know.
Yeah.
It's very,
where the fuck are we?
Where are we,
Jack?
Where are we?
Exactly.
What is this?
He's still president jokes,
even if he's in the middle of a crisis.
I mean,
he,
he referred to himself as a wartime president,
I think early on in the crisis,
which is amazing to imagine. a wartime president, I think, early on in the crisis, which is amazing to imagine if he was our FDR, if there was a world war.
Yeah.
He was just tweeting out.
Yeah, he's our FTU, fucking this up.
Right.
Just tweeting out petty tweets about media figures who didn't invite him to party or
exactly exactly you love to see it he's such a catty little bitch he's such a leader you know
he's he's unwavering yeah uh what i do wonder like what is his official stance on Romney?
What does he think Romney was, or what do his supporters claim Romney?
Do they think he was involved in the Comet Pizza?
Who knows where it's headed now. The second he voted against him during the whole impeachment thing,
it was like, I don't know, it's open season.
Just make whatever the fuck up.
We'll pretend that's true
so we can just try and multiply the anger as much as possible.
All right, guys.
That is going to do it for this episode of Trending.
The Trending episode.
All right, it's a long quarantine
but we
will be back tomorrow with a whole
another episode and we'll talk to you guys then
bye
