Jane? Who's Jane Krakowski? Wait, what's her name? Jane Lynch's. Or is it Pertner?
Starting point is 00:02:26 Pertner. I don't know. What's that? Pertner? That would have been a stupid joke because all I wanted to say was, he married Jane! Beep-a-meep! I'm Jack O'Brien. And I'm It's Friday, Miles Gray. Yes. And we are here to tell you what is trending
Starting point is 00:02:41 this Friday afternoon. Some fun stories. Some. Some fun stories. Not fun stories. No. It's a lot of dark things going on. Pensacola shooting is trending because there was another shooting. On a naval base. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:59 And there was just one in Hawaii. Yeah. Pearl Harbor with a guy whose submarine had docked there and shot and killed two civilian workers at the memorial. This one was someone, at the beginning they said there was a shooting at a naval facility, and one of the first things they said is they are still
Starting point is 00:03:16 looking to see if it was a terrorist attack, and they were confused, and then it came out that the suspect, who was also dead, is an aviation student from Saudi Arabia. So I think it was may have been like in a program where we take other people's like military officials or people who are working with who are going to be working with American forces to get sort of literate in how things operate. May have been in some kind of program like that. But yeah. But he was and he was in florida yeah this is in pensacola yeah so yeah there's a not a great history of saudi
Starting point is 00:03:55 aviation students no in florida no and they yeah it comes to terrorism king salman of saudi arabia expressed his sincerest condolences. To President Trump. But, I mean, knowing this president. Right. Just thought water under the bridge. Right. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I actually, when I first saw this breaking, I thought people were referring to the one that happened the other day. No. Turns out, no. Yeah. We live in America. These happen constantly uh they said it's the 19th i think the 19th shooting at a military facility in the u.s in 10 years 10 years but yeah because most of the time people aren't allowed to have firearms uh on those bases like a select few do
Starting point is 00:04:39 right and we don't know what the motivation is no I think they're still, that's why at this point the FBI has taken over the investigation. This isn't even like a local law enforcement thing. It's a full on federal matter now. Got it. Nikki Haley is trending. She gave an interview? Yeah. She was talking to Glenn Beck. Oh, remember that fucking putrid fuck back? Yeah. She was talking to Glenn Beck. Oh, remember that fucking putrid fuck back? Yeah. So, you know, she was in a very safe space and could just say whatever she really felt. And that's, I think, what happened.
Starting point is 00:05:13 A lot of people have been talking about how she's like the next gen Republican kind of candidate. There are rumors that she could be Trump's running mate if he ditched Pence in 2020 to try and, like, you know, shore up some more votes, obviously from women because they're just like, well, that's how that'll work. Put women on ticket and it will erase all the other terrible things I've said and done in my life. shooting at mother emmanuel church in charleston and was saying that like that the shooter had hijacked the meaning of the confederate flag uh with his manifesto and how the media just wanted to make this shooting all about race and racism and it's it was just the wildest thing to hear it's like well that he was it was a racially motivated killing. Terror attack. Terror attack. And the weird history lesson she gave of sort of like, I mean, it's not what it stands for. You know, it's not about hate.
Starting point is 00:06:15 The Confederate flag? Yes. Was basically the thrust of what she was saying that prior to that, because I think it was in relation to, she was governor at the time who basically made the Confederate flagate flag like you know it was no longer the flag the state flag of south carolina oh okay so she was trying to say like no it didn't mean all that meanwhile many people were like yes that's exactly what that stands for it's what it's used for by the people who yeah fly it uh not only that i mean even like the person who designed the Confederate flag was like, nah, man, like white, like literally it was something about how the white race will stay supreme over all others.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Because that's what the civil war was about. No, it was about, um, just economic realities, economic realities. And that's, that's it.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Um, but yeah, it was very chilling to see someone so casually, um, just change the meaning of history like that. And this is the thing that I've, and I said in a past episode, she really is the kind of person, if they really were trying to take things in an authoritarian direction, could do it so subtle.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Like people just, they're very disarmed by her demeanor and things like that. Right. But then she's out here dog whistling Dixie. Right. And yeah, I mean, it's clear to many people, but. That's the thing that people have just kind of casually referenced during the Trump administration that, you know, when somebody who's actually competent and not like openly corrupt comes along and, you know, decides that they want to go on a populist direction,
Starting point is 00:07:46 decides they want to take the, the conditions that Trump is exploiting. Yeah. And, and make it an authoritarian country. We're going to be in a lot more trouble than we already are. Yep. And she seems like a good candidate for that sort of thing.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Yeah. Uh, well, let's talk about bath and body works candle day please take us in a new direction yeah why is this trending i i don't know i was like i mean i guess what has happened why is this apparently there is they have an annual candle day but why do they get candle day i mean i don't i like, look, I like a nice scented candle. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Actually not. I like, I love scented candles. They help make my stinky ass house. Yeah. You carry one around with you. I do. And I use it as deodorant too.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Right. Not very effective though. The wax just gets all over the place, but apparently they're normally these candles. These are three wick candles, Jack. Okay. They,
Starting point is 00:08:42 they can last for 45 hours or some shit. Oh yeah. They're normally like 25 or 26 bucks or something. And then I guess during this one day only, December 7th, the date that we'll live in infamy, are $9.50. Is this the day that we'll live in infamy? December 7th is, yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Yeah. Wow. So it's not only is it the Pearl Harbor anniversary. Right. Also Bath and Body Works Candle Day. Candle Day. Awesome. There's something about, for me, Bath and Body Works Candle Day. Awesome. There's something about, for me,
Starting point is 00:09:06 Bath and Body Works has a special place in my juvenile heart because it was like the first perfume girls wore like in middle school. Bath and Body Works? Yeah. Cause you could just go to the mall and buy the spray or whatever. And it was country apple splash. I talk about this all the time, man. Warm vanilla sugar. You know what I mean? They have all those scents. And to me, I always think of my adolescent thing like that was the earliest scent memory of a young woman. Yeah. Yeah, no, I know what you're talking about. That actually reminds me of being very sick when I was younger because I have a sense memory of like our entire family got the flu or got the stomach, some sort of stomach virus.
Starting point is 00:09:42 entire family got the flu or got the stomach, some sort of stomach virus. And like, we were always using, uh, that like country apple scent to cover it up because everyone was like, so sick. Uh, and now like anytime I smell a country apple,
Starting point is 00:09:55 I'm brought back to that summer when everybody was puking, man. Uh, let's talk about Knicks. How about them Knicks? Huh? The Knickerbockers uh from of new york have uh are trending again for this time firing their head coach how long was david fisdale the head coach is uh he was there for a season and change oh okay yeah i. Yeah. I mean, what a, look, I mean, I guess we'll have, now that we're going
Starting point is 00:10:26 to do the NBA show, what a terrible job to have is to be the head coach of the Knicks. It's really, it's really something, uh, because you are, you are coaching for a, I mean, I don't know much about the GM. So some people who pay more attention to the NBA than me say that the new GM kind of has a plan. But they coach for and work for the worst owner in sports. Maybe not in sports, but definitely in basketball. Aren't they about to spin off their businesses, though? James Dolan and the Straight Shot. Madison, like MSG, though, they're going to're gonna be like yeah there's something going on with that or maybe he's actually
Starting point is 00:11:09 possibly looking into selling but i feel like he would hold on to the knicks just out of spite because people like he's very spiteful dude oh yeah i mean just from the thing the anecdotal stuff about him or being like you want to play play at Madison Square Garden? Yeah. Then my band will open. Yeah. And those are the conditions of it. The Eagles. Yeah. That's what he did to the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:11:30 The confidence. My terrible band. Oh, man. I mean. Shout out to Jimmy D. It's funny because, you know, we're. Better find a church. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:11:43 If you're not playing upright bass in an old church what are you doing the we're fans of desus and mero obviously yes uh desus and look they they are constantly living the never-ending nightmare of being nicks fans i know and the things he tweeted as like right after it have been so great it said nicks head coaching position uh now the mandatory minimum sentence if you get caught with a firearm in New York City. And then he tweeted another thing from years ago, from 2014, because it became relevant again. He said, your girl rubbing you like it's okay, baby, after every Knicks game. But inside, she's like, can't spend my life doing this.
Starting point is 00:12:22 They deserve a good team. For how big their city is Yeah I mean it's been It's been a long time Close to 20 years right Cause the last time they were Making serious noise was Late 90s
Starting point is 00:12:37 Yeah Sprewell When they made that run as an 8 seed Yeah and wasn't Larry Johnson playing them too I think that was Post Johnson but Post Malone when they made that run as an eight seed. Yeah. And there wasn't Larry Johnson playing them too? I think that was post Johnson, but post Malone, maybe post Johnson, post Malone.
Starting point is 00:12:56 You don't know that joke we have inside here of how we were theorizing what post Malone's name was. Yeah. We're talking about a post Moses Malone NBA. Right. That's what I thought. I thought post Moses Malone because his first song was White Iverson and I was like attributing to him a certain amount of NBA fandom and also NBA coolness like Allen Iverson is a cool player if you're like an NBA fan Moses Malone is a cool player Carl Malone not a cool player he's a fucking cowboy right I remember people would just roast him I feel like
Starting point is 00:13:23 every postseason package was about how he had a ranch and was in one fucking cowboy movie. And that's what he would utter himself utter to himself at the free throw line. Yeah. And he would wear tight jeans when that wasn't cool with a tucked in shirt and a bolo tie. Yeah. Yeah. And a vest. Hey, man. Yeah. State will do that to you. uh and finally kylie ray harris uh not carly ray jebson kylie ray harris 30 year old uh country singer who died in a car accident back in september uh the toxicology report came back she was driving through uh drunk so three times the legal limit doing 102 uh when she lost control and killed herself and a 16 year old girl. So. Right. Horrible. But I mean, that's just like,
Starting point is 00:14:13 that's just the worst way to go possible. You really do not recommend a drunk driving guys. That's the official position of the show. Please. Yeah. Tragically, I think she has like a young daughter and she has a song just written a song because her father had died when she was young. She had sort of been not foreseeing it, but was sort of saying, I don't know if even my daughter will get to this age and I pass away before. When you're driving 102 while drunk, there's got to be some self-destructive impulse in you.
Starting point is 00:14:44 But also, it can happen to anyone who's driving drunk so just don't do that and also uh trending atletico madrid diego simioni arsenal fc huh maybe because arsenal is in such a tragic way right now that we may get the old atletico coach oh really yeah that's bad no i mean, apparently he's not doing, he's a great coach, and he's done great things with Atletico Madrid, and there's rumors that he might not be the manager anymore, and because right now Arsenal's one of the few teams. Just looking for scraps.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Yeah, looking for something, man. Yeah, just sitting at that table looking up. Hungry. I was saying, you know, I was laughing when Tottenham Hotspur sacked their manager. We sacked ours last week. Right. And now we have legendary players.
Starting point is 00:15:28 The race is on. Well, they already got to Jose Mourinho. Actually, thank God, because I wouldn't have him. But now we have an old ex-player who we still have. We have not won a game in nine games. It's rough. You haven't won a game? We have not won in two months.
Starting point is 00:15:44 I've not seen us win in two months have you played all really good teams no and we are in shambles shambles it's a shambolic at the moment uh well you know what this is why we do it as a sixers fan who just lost to the washington wizard so how did hachimura do i't know. I didn't watch the game. I watched the losses, man. Nothing you can learn from him. No point. Alright. Well, guys, have a great weekend.
