Hello, the internet, and it's Friday.
Very clearly, it's friday very clearly it's friday and welcome to this
episode of the beauty trender uh named after the beauty blender fantastic bit of makeup application
uh shout out to uh my old classmate erica whose mom invented that uh so how do you know everyone
and everything i'm the forest gump i'm forest gump baby you know everyone and everything, Miles? I'm the Forrest Gump. I'm Forrest Gump, baby. Strange.
He's been everywhere.
Shout out Erica, though, who's also a podcaster.
Erica.
Very successful podcaster.
Okay, anyway, I'm Miles.
That's Joelle.
Hey, Joelle.
Hey.
How are you?
Let's talk about what's trending.
Up top, just some nonsense.
More in the sense of the nonstop non-stop assault against lgbtq
people continues in this country um idaho has a bill in the books uh that would currently
penalize people with life sentences for providing a trans child any kind of gender affirming care
they're saying that is tantrum that that equals a life sentence for for helping anybody who is seeking any kind of gender affirming care.
Georgia also quietly passed a don't say gay bill the other day.
So, again, well, how many how many bills are on the books now?
According to USA Today, there are approximately 280 projected this year, which is up from 147 in 2021 which was previously uh the most bills we'd
seen that were anti-trans um over 125 anti-trans bills have been recently active across dozens of
state legislators according to the aclu disgusting i mean we talked about this the other day like
this is this is a this is like a terror campaign against anybody who is an ally or sympathetic because it's not just being a parent.
If you are somehow in the chain of help or something that you're potentially being put at risk.
And again, splitting up families.
I mean, this is the kind of thing where you're like, what are they going to try and make illegal?
What are they going to try and use this child abuse or child endangerment angle with next?
Is this going to be like because you taught your kids about the Civil War?
Because you're already seeing all these books being like, are these bills starting to come out saying, don't talk about that in the workplace.
Don't talk about that in school.
We don't need people to be mindful of what their privilege might be or give people historical context into why things are the way they are now it's very it's fucking alarming and
it's it's like not to be hyperbolic but it's akin to murder like we know for a fact when these laws
pass the children are more likely to die of suicide we know that it increases bullies and
acts of violence against them there's just there's so so much is at risk
here and for the trans community who's been under attack i mean pretty consistently in a very intense
and focused way for the past decade you know it started with bathroom bills and weird fears like
that to now it's passing on to children um it's i mean i can't even stress enough how like much gender
confirming is almost always for children under 18 like some therapy and hormone blockers which
doesn't prevent their body from developing the way it naturally would if it just stops them
from developing traits they may not want should they decide to do a surgical transition later
that's it that's all that's happening right and it's it's wild to say you
can't go to a therapist to try to talk about things that are bothering you or try to understand
how you exist in the world and then to attack parents who want to help their children and if
we go even beyond that which is which is mind-boggling and we're already seeing it happen a
lot in courts parents particularly in red states or even states that are purple and constantly flipping
back and forth we're seeing parents losing their children just for saying i affirm who you are and
how you present and how you right would like to exist in the world and and it's including prison
time um it's forcing some children to have to stay with abusive parents. And not abusive just because, you know, they don't approve of their transness,
but actually physically abusive.
Courts have said that's safer
than your affirming parent.
That is bananas.
And then to say that if you leave the state,
I mean, if we're supposed to be a group of states
that allow different laws
in order for people to live comfortably
and we're allowed to choose,
how can you criminalize someone for leaving a state and going somewhere where they
should be allowed to legally live their lives i don't think it can pass i just don't think it can
hold up at a supreme court level but the fact that they're trying to do this shit well yeah horrifying
and and this is how conservatives move they have to find targets that they feel are weaker and
there's a lack of support because
that helps establish this idea when they're already, their ideology is so out of date and
nobody is really, most people are not ideologically as aligned with Republican politics, gives them
this sort of ability to say, well, it's on our terms when we say when progress can happen.
Because when you put these bills out and you criminalize this kind of shit, that's just for them to be able to look
around and be like, you see, see, we're making it real difficult for people to just exist as who
they are. And again, I ask for real, please, what is the damage that's being done? Cause there isn't
any, there is no damage. All you see is the damage that occurs when you don't allow people access to gender affirming care or any semblance of something that would provide a modicum of emotional psychoemotional stability for these people.
So.
It's all fucking it's the most cynical shit, it's fucking violent, and I really, really want people to really look at this as a really serious problem because this is a group of human beings that is being targeted with bills that are meant to completely destroy them.
And they're coming after kids now.
It's really fucked up.
It's really fucked up.
We don't have a million and one things on our plate.
And that's kind of the point is to just be crushed under the weight of like man it's fucked up everything but in a way you have to kind of
keep your head on and and be aware of these things because this is how small things these little
fucked up bills end up getting popular and morphing into much larger even you know things that when
you say oh that doesn't affect me right now this shit will affect you but just really quick if
you're a transparent or a you're a trans parent or a
parent of a trans child in a state where these laws are in the process of being passed um advice
that we received from a lot of trans activists is to get lawyered up now and start documenting
everything just to protect yourself just so that you have all of your bases covered should someone
decide to come after you because now it's not even up to the state a lot of these laws are asking citizens to just turn people in
exactly fascist i mean yeah that's the hallmark of it deputize your most extremist citizens to
be the enforcers of your fucked up laws and that's exactly what we're seeing along with that right in
florida the don't say gay bill has gotten a lot of
attention and maybe not enough attention from disney who has a tremendous amount of influence
in the state of florida uh people have been saying like hey bob chapik what the fuck's going on you
haven't said anything versus like look we all go about things in different ways. We obviously stand next to our LGBTQ allies, staff, employees, et cetera, et
cetera, but just not enough. And apparently now he's apologizing. And I guess we'll say,
what does that exactly mean? He essentially first apologizes saying, you know, like how painful
their silence has been as a company. And he realizes that now he said, you needed me to be
a stronger ally in the fight for equal rights. And I let you down. I a company. And he realizes that now he said, you needed me to be a stronger ally in the fight for
equal rights.
And I let you down.
I'm sorry.
Then he talks about how important the employees are and how much of a misstep it was to not
really be fully fighting for rights and equality.
And the statement goes on to say, quote, starting immediately, we are increasing our support
for advocacy groups to combat similar legislation in other states.
We are hard at work creating a new framework for our political giving that will ensure our advocacy better reflects our values.
And today we're pausing all political donations in the state of Florida pending this review.
Do you have to do that?
I think you can just pause it for people on the right, but go up for sure.
Both got both sides.
you can just pause it for people on the right but go up for sure both the problem is that isn't directly addressed here is like everyone who supported this bill got funding from disney
and that's where the initial aggravation comes from it's this is like a perfect example of ass
covering bob is new in this job he knows that the board don't need to keep him around lots of people
want to run disney it's a very lucrative position on top of
that but your name has to be bob they do love a bob there um but apparently lots of uh corporations
love about what is it like bob and john are like the number oh yeah one like ceo names um but it's
frustrating particularly for a company that it so actively tries to tap into the lgbtqia market to have ever funded anybody who could be
anti like you have queer nights you sell a bunch of queer merch a lot of your characters are queer
coded and you embrace that and on top of that just coded just coded we'll never come out and be you
know we got to be able to cut it for china uh they don't like it and so we're not going to fully
embrace it here but on top of that there's just a complete
lack of awareness for the thousands of queer people who work at disney who really care about
it you kind of have to be like almost fanatical to work for disney that's just that's the company
culture that's really what they want they want you to have been a lifelong fan so i either know
people who love working at disney or fucking hate working at disney and they're like i gotta get the
fuck out of here uh from what i hear the the kids' television side of Disney, not fun.
Some of the other parts, okay.
I once met a person who was thrilled to work for less
than they had previously worked for at Disney.
Like, Disney once paid them a salary, then said,
we'll rehire you, but for less.
And they were like, yeah, dream to work at Disney.
Again, a lot of wild things happening over there.
dream to work at disney again a lot of wild things happen but but all of that to say for disney to to not support fully their lgbtqia team and and to have to think that you're and also you know jenny
fernandez pointed out the other day it's really frustrating when those employees who are queer
are called out and they're like you gotta quit your job and all this that's
their job man that's right ask these white cis men to do something about this like this is nuts
it's it's they're being attacked in every direction they can't come to work and feel safe
they get this cheap ass apology like it's just it's so much gay people are really struggling
right now y'all it's a lot and this apology is so fucking tepid right i missed the
mark in this case but am an ally you can count on if that's the case all you have to say is
we will never give a fucking cent to someone we even get a sniff of them being any kind of
homophobia whatever anti-lgbtq none of that that's just that's just the policy now we will never ever
give them a cent that's a real that's something you can hang your hat on but this should like
we're going to be reviewing this stuff and then also find ways why we can't give money to some
democrats too because like whatever then just don't give anybody fucking anything just say the
fuck out of it truly before. Before this apology came out,
Bob made a statement that he spoke into Ron DeSantis,
and he personally assured him
that this would not be used to harm the gay community.
Bitch, it's in the name.
It is the Don't Say Gay Bill.
It's not its official name.
It's what it's become publicly known as.
But that is the entire idea of it.
It's that your children cannot even hear the word gay before
they're three which is horrifying for the many many many many many gay parents in florida can
their children go into school and talk about them can they come to their house or is that it's so
vaguely worded it's such a problematic bill it's it's issues on issues on issues and it's time for bob to go anyway find another bob you know tag in the new bob let's see
what the new bob can do all right and then another thing trending joe rogan is trending because
trump came out some trash shit telling him to not apologize for being racist saying the n-word and
shit like that uh naturally because that's what trump is going to do. So a lot of people are like, he's going to go on Rogan.
But then he's also
trending because Spotify is also out here being like,
oh yeah, so we lost a million and a
half subscribers recently.
And just because that's kind of fucking up the stock
price, I just want to let everybody know,
that has nothing to do with Joe
Rogan's pariah status.
Nothing to do with that.
You know, that's that's that okay
any other questions no as someone who recently left spotify best decision ever such a challenge
i want trying to get into spotify if your email has if you're blocked out of your email
still problematic such a difficult app to use not in just as general like easings but like say you
wanted to just fully delete your account can't you got to make an actual like email call to the company to get your account removed there's
just it's icky and it's weird and there's a lot of aggregation happening over there i don't know
before i move to is better but i'm out of there and yeah i think they're going to continue to see
a decline as long as they keep sticking their head in the sand about this and if trump does go on
rogan it's fine you have the same overlapping audience anyway there's not a venn diagram there enjoy
no it's a solid circle of hateful fucks okay uh and some people are just like i just like to hear
different opinions man stop it okay just like want to hear like all opinions it's like okay
you want to see anyway i almost said something not good okay don't
worry about that i'm gonna bite my tongue off and we're gonna take a quick break and we'll be right
back i'm jess casaveto executive producer of the hit netflix documentary series dancing for the

And don't worry worry we promise to avoid
any black holes most of the time and we're back tia and tamara maury here we go they're trending
i said what the fuck is why are they trending i look around this video going on being like
tia's dancing like this Tia's dancing like this.
Tamara's dancing like this.
This is what's on my Instagram feed.
Okay.
Tamara was dancing to like, forget me nots.
Kind of, you know, just doing her, you know, one of those like dance challenges that these
kids are doing.
It looked like a mom dance.
It was cute.
Yeah.
And I'm saying these kids do know and Tia and Tamara have a fucking mind anyway.
And then Tia going on,
I think she's going off to some young thug.
And I was like, why is this trending?
Why are people so invested in what they're doing?
Like they're fucking, they're two people.
Like what are we doing?
What are we doing on Twitter here?
There's a constant comparison between Tia and Tamara
with the idea that Tia is more authentically black i guess is maybe the best way to say it uh tia married a black man
her children are more visibly black tamera has black children but she has a white husband
uh they are less visibly black but they have a black mama so they're still black y'all calm down
um but tia's constantly like i mean just pretty much anything that's like culturally
relevantly black tia's on it pretty immediately sometimes samara tags on sometimes she doesn't
um that's kind of a non-issue there's a lot i think the way twitter was posting was like oh
people are comparing themselves so you know which twin are they more like um i haven't seen a black
girl yet who didn't say tia so i don't know i don't know it's it's silliness and messy and whatever they're fine
they're wealthy they're good i'm sure they don't care about this at all no they they can't they
don't even they don't even use cell phones they're doing so well they're like i don't know someone
whispers into my ear like right the victorian it's like this is the dance just do it real quick
great and on to your next meeting all right This next one really made my eyeballs spin around.
And I had to triple check that I was reading the right thing.
So Grimes is trending.
And I said, why is Grimes trending?
Because we heard yesterday, apparently her and Elon Musk had like a secret baby a couple months ago.
Secret baby girl.
Yes.
Cool.
Love a secret baby, y'all.
I mean, that's like the new wave, isn't it?
But then that's not why Grimes is trending. Grimes is trending because reportedly Grimes is now dating Chelsea Manning.
pop culture figure because for me somebody who like i like pop music and i was you know she came out and the songs were okay i don't think she's had a hit where i was like oh grimes gotta get
into it yeah but since then she sort of me yeah yeah it's just that she sort of spun off into
this interesting character because she started going with elon musk and they were appearing
everywhere and being kind of i'll
just say different not what we expected it was a surprise coupling uh they're seeing them out
together was always sort of strange like what do they talk about like what are their interests it's
it's not immediately a clear couple and then you know the baby name happened and then they
separated we were all like this feels like relief this feels probably good for both of them go your separate ways and like co-parent or whatever for her to then turn around
and start dating chelsea manning it's like this is another layer this is who is she i really feel
i don't know anything about crimes now like elon makes sense he's got money he's like the tech guy
you know they were kind of interested in that thing together um chelsea's a whistleblower she's incredibly brave she's been through so much like trauma in the
real shit like real shit i don't i don't i have no idea i have no idea what this means
for either of them i mean i guess i hope they're happy uh love a queer couple i i don't it seems
like her next move is like go to Mars.
You know what I mean?
Is Chelsea Manning going to be like, yo, you kind of need to get your.
I've seen some of your tweets.
Like, you are not batting 100.
I'm going to tell you something.
You need some help.
You need to do some reading real quick.
Get you radicalized again in the right direction.
But I don't.
I'm just so.
This combination.
It's like for me, Chelsea Manning is someone who's like much more thinking about like, you know, because of their whistleblower status and like what they were being charged on the fucking espionage act.
Like they've been through some shit.
I'm so curious.
Now I'm just like, I just want to see that conversation, like what they're talking about.
And then who knows?
Like maybe we were we were wrong about one of them.
Yeah. what they're talking about and then who knows like maybe we were we were wrong about one of them yeah listen i i really feel like the next step for grimes was like move to a different planet um literally right well listen if you're going to be dating these people who are either a thinking
about colonizing other planets or be like adamant about at the very least bringing a lot of truth
and honesty to the current one we're on right which just seems an impossible goal to me i really feel like okay go go forth growing
and conquer like you'll be on mars soon like what yeah write a book let me know i'm so much more
curious than i've ever been about grimes oh my god it's gonna be about the surveillance state and shit you're like yo what is happening
oh my gosh i can't wait it's called nsa now suck ass or some shit i don't know but it's gonna be
such a weird title like that could have been better grunt but you know what whatever you
on your journey you're on your journey you're on your journey we're here for it true true
hopefully they have an interesting impact on each other uh and we'll
we'll see where that where that goes i'm sure both their publicists are extremely happy they're like
listen we're about to put in some work do some interviews it's going up chelsea i'm sorry like
don't even look at the thing is blowing up right now i can't handle it okay okay and then finally chloe kardashian is trending the kardashians have
had a a week filled with really tone deaf uh comments kim obviously uh popped up because
you're saying ladies get off your fucking asses and work if you want to be successful it just
seems like no women want to work anymore motherfucker have you ever been to a place of work have you been there do you know anything
about the current state of uh like inequity and gender gaps that exist motherfuckers are working
okay typically more than most people so what is your point here kim card anyway that that's been talked about
plenty of times but chloe kardashian what is why is chloe why is chloe popping up now what is she
okay so chloe said out of context a statement most people would agree with when a man cheats
it's not fair to blame the woman in the relationship sure okay now on face surface value
a thousand percent i can see that yeah why
are you blaming i mean again if you're saying if who's the if it's the person that's it takes two
to tango but why is it on this person like solely to blame a woman that's just some you know that's
some leftover misogyny programming that you gotta kind of scrape out of the operating you gotta
deprogram yourself from the you know misogynistic world we live in facts but those of us who have long memories remember one jordan woods being
verbally accosted on twitter for apparently sleeping with chloe's part that never happened
right they were just at a party together jordan was looking good af black in her natural skin
the way all the carditions which they could be and they hated on her for it and they dragged
her name through the mud when jordan really didn't have any kind of platform yet like she
she didn't mean anything she was okay let me here we go she was kim k to paris hilton back in the
day okay nobody knew kimmy k was she was just floating around next to Paris Hilton that was Jordan Woods and then like they frequently do they just beat this black girl up so bad
she's fine because black women were like not today Kardashians we've had enough of you nice try um
yeah and then also she's gorgeous and wealthy so she's really truly fine um but it is bizarre to
come out and make this grand statement without acknowledging your past mistake, without acknowledging, you know, I haven't always been perfect.
I was hurt.
Because, again, I think there could be a lot of empathy for Chloe in that moment.
Yeah.
You were hurt, girl.
We get it.
I fucked up bad.
Let me tell you, I fucked up bad.
Yeah, I should never have done this.
And, you know, it was bad of me.
But nobody should do it.
I shouldn't have done it.
And we shouldn't do it going forward.
But, again, just, like, I don't think Kim doesn't work at all.
You know what I mean?
Like, she has a lot of business.
She has to somewhat pay attention to her image is really important.
I mean, it's keeping a lot of the family going.
Like, I believe she has to put in hours, but I also don't think she works a 90-hour week ever.
No, and I think it's hard it's like
you know at that point what is the labor that she's performing and how does that compare to
someone's other labor like you know the people who put together her makeup kits in faraway lands
like what's that like yeah well and then the statements from a lot of people who work even
just here in america about how you know late nights not being paid overtime not getting good health care one girl was like i
my car broke down i couldn't afford to get to work oh yeah i saw that tweet heavily penalized sick
because they couldn't afford gas to go in and then they're like guilt tripping why aren't you
coming into work why aren't you coming to work it's like because y'all don't pay me enough to
even have gas to get to work if you've've worked in LA, you know the vibes.
Oh, yeah.
Well, this is a big,
I mean, this is going to help you a lot.
I mean, just be working with the Kardashians.
Yeah, no, no, no.
You'll be able to see you work with the director.
He lives in Malibu.
On the makeup stuff,
I don't want to get too specific
on what they did over there,
but the way these people
even ran their makeup business,
completely disconnected from what the process is
and just being like,
well, I need this result. They're like, that impossible like from a chemistry standpoint they're like i don't care
like this is outside right now uh because i have a job which is to art like retweet this thing later
but yeah kim and chloe i think you never want to have a statement that the response is someone

If you made mistakes in the past, you can fix them in the future.
You have to do the same thing.

yourself to say i fucked up and that was a mistake but you know what i can be better and i can
actually help put some positivity in the world that's all it is you're gonna drag yourself across
the coals especially if you know you know in your heart that you got to do better and you can do
better so with that please take care of each other um and we will see you on Monday. Okay, bye. Bye.

first, I explore the making of
a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus
