Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of The Pop Out, Canon Trends.
Oh, Canon.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Is that you?
Because it was Canon Friends.
That was me, Miles.
That was all me.
Wow. Wow. me, Miles. That was all me. Wow.
Wow.
The pop out.
I can't believe you didn't bring out Owen Wilson.
Wow.
To start the show.
Wow.
Wow.
Then immediately go into euphoria.
Yeah.
Yeah, the pop out, man.
The pop out happened.
My name is Jack.
That is Miles.
I did not watch. i did not know it was
streamable yeah no that uh yeah it was it was live for people to bask in a 90 minute
diss track to drake while also celebrating like the west coast which was kind of it was just dope
it was dope yeah and he started the show off with euphoria and then ended it by doing uh not like us six
fucking times just in a row just bang bang bang yeah just and then like but there are little
things that happen in between he is like first let me also bring out you know let me unite the
bloods and crypts just so i can demonstrate how much influence i have over the culture and how
important i am how much respect i have this is something drake could never do and let's run it
back one more time yeah a lot of the memes seem to be just people trying to imagine what it was like to be drake
as this was happening like as the bloods the crypts all rap like all la hip-hop pedophile
jeff bezos like most of the best nba play like lebron was there lebron who is like a famous drake fan
and biden were there
they're like hey we're both competing for votes man you know drake's a canadian drake's a canadian
i don't know if i talked about this on on mike but we were saying i think before we were recording
tomorrow's episode that like drake
has disappeared from the top 20 like it's this is the wildest just most lopsided cultural battle
i've ever like he's just gone like he used to be for the past like decade he was all over the top
10 like he was just always like he would at least be featuring on a song in the like global
top 100 top 10 top 20 on on apple music like most streamed songs you know they they refresh it daily
he was always all over that shit like even if he hadn't had an album in like a year one of the
songs from his most recent album would be in the top 10 all gone and not like us is like still number three like weeks later yeah
look it's i don't know man i think he'll be back that's the thing even when like this whole ship
kicked off i was like i still all it's gonna take is some catchy drake song and people will be like
i mean yeah he's he got fucking bodied by kendrick what is he gonna say i don't know maybe i mean it
is hard wondering like what he's gonna be back to say what he put out a track with sexy red and everyone's like okay
you're kind of like trying to own the bbl drizzy thing but i don't know maybe if he just stays into
melodies people will forget i don't know but he's already he's doing his thing he's on vacation
being like i don't know what's going on you guys oh you guys like think i lost i don't know i'm
you guys are just haters i'm out here winning ha ha ha but like he's not sleeping he may be
on vacation but he's not getting he hasn't had a good night's sleep in a month no no no
he's getting that uh that that thing that robert durst had at the end of where like all of a sudden
he's like no i'm fine well i'm fine like this is
this doesn't phase me yeah you know man like our guest we've had on mad boosie's aaron edwards he
tweeted a thing he said j cole gotta feel like the teacher that was the runner-up to be on the
challenger space show no and truly yeah j cole anyway it was just um all right what else what else what else um we got
some more some more evidence that uh ai is coming to take all our jobs uh ai is here and hollywood
writers and comedians are nervous.
20 comedians got AI to write their routines for them to see how the work was.
I remember there was Simon Rich, who's a New Yorker humorist. I remember in the early days of AI, he was saying that they were letting him mess with
the tools and he thought it was going to be able to write comedy pretty well.
So I'm still waiting for that.
I think the thing he ended up saying was like,
actually it like writes dark and disturbing poetry was like what the best
evidence that I've got.
Uh,
I haven't seen much evidence that it's like very good at writing
comedy until now miles yeah because we got a couple prompts here and then you were messing
around with it and uh you got some good stuff so some pretty bad stuff the ai generated jokes for
the prompt they asked uh can you write me 10 jokes about pickpocketing and one large language model response was i decided to switch careers and become a pickpocket
after watching a magic show little did i know the only thing disappearing would be my reputation
jesus reputation oh man what else what else please write jokes about the irony of a
projector failing in a live comedy show
about AI and one
of the better large language
model responses was
our projector must have misunderstood the
concept of AI it thought
it meant absolutely invisible
because well it's
doing a fantastic job of disappearing tonight oh boy um
that's one of the better jokes yeah i don't know are these comedians terrible like do they you know
like if they thought that was one of the better ones or are all of the options so bad yeah i mean
like it feels like a good comedian challenge is like try
and work these terrible one-liners like yeah just try and fucking sell the fuck out of them i just
asked co-pilot the microsoft one to just just randomly i said write some light-hearted jokes
about the lakers and the celtics and the lakers being better. These are so terrible. One was like, the Celtics just suffered a playoff loss.
One person said,
it seemed like they were playing the game
with their shoes tied.
What?
And then, where's the,
that's the punchline.
That was the joke.
Here's another one.
Why did the Lakers bring a ladder to the game?
Because they wanted to reach for the stars.
What? the game because they wanted to reach for the stars what what fuck what's a lakers player's
favorite type of dessert slam duncan heinz cake yep no now they got my ass that's pretty good
yeah these are jokes about how good it is to be lakers i guess you had that one good one about
so they the one trick they've learned is just to like tell street jokes,
like just like,
but swap things out and swap things out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um,
here's another one about,
uh,
Joe Biden.
I said,
I'm like,
how could conservatives use this?
So I said,
Joe Biden and being senile,
it said Joe Biden's teleprompter.
Good evening,
ladies and gentlemen,
Joe Biden. Good evening, ladies evening ladies and wait where am i uh-huh oh okay a little bit spicier um joe biden's favorite
workout memory exercises he's still trying to lift his approval rating uh-huh yeah so those are good
too so it's always like word play when joe biden gets
a phone call he answers who dis just to be safe it said who dis wait really yeah
i mean yeah man we're fucked the jokes are coming for us the jokes are too good
yeah joke are too good invest all your money in ai now immediately without thought
or critical analysis go all right uh we talked recently about how netflix is doing like c plus
disneyland uh at um malls like where you know a macy's a sears has closed down, they will be moving into those places
and creating...
Netflix House.
Netflix House.
Yeah.
Netflix House.
Yeah.
And they're also coming for the popcorn world.
So AMC has branded popcorn.
I'm pretty sure that you can get in the grocery store.
Is it memorable to the
point where i'm like damn i gotta get that ams i mean like it's fine i've never been like holy
smokes what's in this popcorn it's like fucking movie theater popcorn yeah yeah yeah it's pretty
good you know it's especially when it's freshly popped i think like microwave popcorn is actually
one of the better types of popcorn that one can consume
because it's always
usually freshly popped.
So Netflix is getting
into that game
in yet another
C-plus way because
they're selling pre-popped
popcorn bags.
Just the worst
shit. One of my least favorite snacks pre-popped popcorn bag like bags of pre-popped popcorn just the worst the worst shit like one
of my least favorite snacks personally like unless it's like coated with yeah it has like three layers
of like caramel and chocolate and shit like that then yeah but movie theater popcorn like that's
not that is not what i'm and i feel like that shit always makes me a little bit
sick pre-popped popcorn i'm like the chemicals granted i'm i'm willing to eat chemicals uh
believe me i am mostly chemicals but uh as long as they don't make me feel sick like taco bell's
made probably a lot of chemicals uh mountain dew but it makes a lot of chemicals it makes me
stronger it makes me feel fine It makes me feel fine.
It makes me feel happy.
Like the dead guy in the Holy Grail.
I feel happy!
I'm not dead yet! I'm just
plastics! Dude, I don't...
Again, Netflix...
We get that people binge
your shows and shit like that, but
don't...
You got too much dip on your popcorn i
guess for lack of a better metaphor here because nobody is checking for like oh thank god netflix
makes a popcorn now like i'm not associating netflix with anything aside from like low wages
yeah um and the bingeable show but the popcorn thing thing, I don't know. Sure.
Good luck with that.
The only thing I've had,
I have had a Ben and Jerry's Netflix ice cream.
Yeah.
And that was good.
That one wasn't bad.
That one wasn't bad,
but I wasn't in it for the fact that it was Netflix.
It was because it was just a mean flavor.
Netflix and chill.
Ice cream is cold.
Writes itself.
Hey,
I actually was involved in the room creating somehow the lowest hanging fruit
thing where it's like what about netflix and chill duh oh there it is there it is okay gpt
go on but yeah that was like peanut butter and pretzel i think was what was in it and i was like
yeah i like this i like i think the reason that i want to keep paying attention to these like ai generated jokes and shit like that is because i'm so certain that
they're going to be using it anyways and probably are already using it anyways so i just want to
like get a sense of like what a ai written joke sounds like so that i can spot it in the wild
when it's in an episode of young sheldon or my the way i'm doing it is if
i don't understand what i'm reading i immediately jump to the conclusion that it's ai and i become
furious without really thinking much further as demonstrated by the food and wine m&m 6.8 weeks
debacle yeah which they still haven't addressed and that coward still hasn't responded to my DMs.
Coward!
I don't care what the cops say to stop contacting you.
Fucking answer me, please.
All right.
RIP to Donald Sutherland,
one of the greats.
Mash, Clute, Hunger Games,
bad guy from Hunger Games.
Didn't watch a lot of those.
Did pass away at 88.
What's your Donald Sutherland movie?
I'm like, just trying to, I'm like, yeah,
Donald Sutherland was always just like kind of a bad guy.
He was good in, there was like a-
Space Cowboys?
Was he in Space Cowboys?
Yeah, he's one of the cowboys.
He was like an old alcoholic judge in a Grisham movie that i thought he was good in
okay he just like popped in i think it's a time to kill he like uh oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah mcconaughey like goes and visits him and like gets a key piece of information from him
that's right but he just like has a good vibe like it just like a weird like i don't know
he very specific but uh yeah he's a vibe always enjoyed him on screen yeah well um never yeah
there is like a core of donald sutherland that is unchanging that makes him yeah exactly so all
right well he was in backdraft i remember that remember that. He's just like one of those guys who's like, when he was in it, you're like,
oh yeah, he's got that
spooker vibe to him.
Is his only kid, he just has one
famous kid? Is it just Kiefer?
Kiefer, yeah. Are there other Southerlands?
That would explain
everything.
Ordinary people
he's very good in.
A movie that I saw because P pt anderson said that it influenced
him to me like in the making of magnolia and i was like well i'm a magnolia fan so i'm gonna
wait this guy's canadian oh my god get out of here with this yeah he was og body not the original
invasion of the body snatchers but like
the 1970s that's the movie they make like every it's kind of right for a remake but uh anyways
uh rip to him let's take a quick break and we'll be right back I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult.
And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.

where we live at the intersection of sports and culture.
Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry,
Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese.
I know I'll go down in history.
People are talking about women's basketball
just because of one single game.
Every great player needs a foil.
I ain't really near them.
Why is that?
I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on.
From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports.
Angel Reese is a joy to watch.
She is unapologetically black.
I love her.
What exactly ignited this fire?
Why has it been so good for the game?
And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained?
This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better.
This new season will cover all things sports and culture.

It was December 2019 when the story blew up.
In Green Bay, Wisconsin, former Packers star Kabir Bajabiamila caught up in a bizarre situation.
KGB explaining what he believes led to the arrest of his friends at a children's Christmas play.
A family man, former NFL player, devout Christian,
now cut off from his family and connected to a strange arrest.
I am going to share my journey of how I went from Christianity to now a Hebrew Israelite.
I got swept up in Kabir's journey, but this was only the beginning.
In a story about faith and football, the search for meaning away from the gridiron,
and the consequences for everyone involved.
You mix homesteading with guns and church,
and then a little bit of the spice of conspiracy theories that we liked.
Voila! You got straight away.
I felt like I was living in North Korea, but worse, if that's possible.

Our podcast, Hungry for History, is back.
Season two.
Season two.
Are we recording? Are we good?
Oh, we push record, right?
Okay.
And this season, we're taking an even bigger bite out of the most delicious food and its history.
Saying that the most popular cocktail is the margarita,
followed by the mojito from Cuba,
and the piƱa colada from Puerto Rico.
So all of these...
We have, we think, Latin culture.
There's a mention
of blood sausage
in Homer's Odyssey
that dates back
to the 9th century
B.C.
B.C.?
I didn't realize
how old the hot dog was.

And we're back.
We're back.
So conservatives are worried about an attack on Stonehenge for reasons that are a little different
than why I'm worried about an attack on Stonehenge.
Attack is also, we'll put it in quotations.
So a group called, is it Stop Oil now?
They're climate protesters, and they covered the monument in orange paint.
Just Stop Oil.
Just Stop Oil.
The conservative media had a good old freak out about it
and talking about it like a deranged attack, uh, that is unforgivable.
They put washable powder paint on rocks.
Right. So it was washable powder paint that they specifically said would wash off in the rain.
But, uh, that didn't stop, you know, a certain segment of the media from absolutely freaking out.
Um,
when it was revealed that it was,
it would wash off in the rain.
They then made the case that it would do spiritual harm to Stonehenge.
So to the rocks.
So I think the thing that they were trying to draw attention to is there is a
massive underground roadway that's going to be
built right next to stonehenge and people were like maybe don't do that it's going to cause all
sorts of environmental uh problems and might cause some spiritual problems for stonehenge
and the conservative government was like shut the fuck up man what are you talking about right on that one they're just mad about the children's washable marker uh version of an attack on stonehenge
i mean but was this directly tied to that or just because i know they've been just off oil like
recently they've they've done a lot of stuff like in the last few days is it just more to draw
attention or they were also i think it's trying to draw attention like it's basically uh like people are paying attention to stonehenge right now also because
there is a rare astronomical event happening a major lunar standstill uh which is when the tilt
of the moon and the earth are at their maximum which makes the moon rise and set at the furthest points on its range on the horizon and affects how long it is in the sky.
And so archaeologists in the UK are excited to see what happens at Stonehenge.
And they'll be live streaming the standstill of the moon on YouTube.
This is, I thought, the sort of thing that we would know.
Like, we can predict what's going
to happen, right? Yeah. And part of me is like, damn, am I just sleeping on another astronomical
event? Should I be fucking up on the fact that there'll be a standstill?
Oh, the standstill, man? Yeah.
Oh, man, dude. What happens? Dude, the moon's just like in the sky forever yeah it's
just like up there man straight up it's like at the horizon so you can't really see it but
we'll see maybe an ancient druidian time traveler will show up uh it's too early to know but you
will be able to live stream this on on youtube but yeah i don't know exactly what the messaging was for this display.
I mean, typically it's around bringing attention to the climate disaster that we're all experiencing.
And so they usually target things that have a ton of attention.
It's not that they're like Stonehenge is oil.
Van Gogh is evil because there's oil paints.
Yeah, I don't know.
The Mona Lisa is oil yeah exactly like
it's just more people are looking and if we do something to it then it's going to be talked about
um and that's just unfortunately um for a cause that has all of the facts on its side that random acts of
vandalism feels
I don't know.
I'm not going to say
it just feels like there
could be other ways to draw
attention to the fact that... I don't really take issue with this
shit because... I don't take issue with
it so much as I'm like, where are the other ones
that draw more
attention to where's
level two the people who actually did the destroy things now yeah don't don't go you're going too
easy with the powder paint like start burning shit down yeah because i mean like we're such
in a place i mean because i think for most people right we we want to ignore the fact that shit is
so dire yeah and for like you know these people trying to
keep reminding us that's kind of like one of the tactics that's being used but yeah i mean i'm also
like is there what's what's what's the escalation going to be is there going to be an escalation um
but hey it got people's attention but it's more just like is it are we bringing the right attention
to the right things because i think the other thing too we also talk about is the people who
are truly profiting and behind a lot of this like the earth death industries are pretty anonymous
to most people yes just like name names you know they need pressure too like the same way like
somehow sometimes the supreme court when there's enough pressure they're like fuck all right we
can't go full mask off today fuck yeah yeah you need to do something because people are
watching maybe that's one version but yeah you know uh things are terrible and too many people
are ignoring it and hopefully but i think of the the effect that has on a lot of people they just
look at it like what's the point of this yeah i feel like that's the just in terms of mass
public like if the idea is to gain the attention of a big swath of the public the response i'm
hearing from a big swath of the public is like yeah so why i like stonehenge though i like van
gogh paintings yeah it's like well it washes off't worry. Like, they didn't hurt the rocks, and they didn't hurt the encasement that the picture is in, okay?
But, yeah.
I get it, man.
Things are fucking real dire.
It's like, how do we, how, what can be done?
What can we do?
Because I refuse to think that it's just me changing straws and light bulbs is the way to do it.
That's mainly it, though.
When I say name names, name Miles' name about how long it took him to change straws and light bulbs.
Dude, that guy has a box of pre-banned straws that he brings with him to restaurants.
It's a fanny pack full of old plastic straws.
It's like old McDonald's straws from the 90s.
Dude, look how thick this thing is.
They're wide.
It makes the Sprite taste better.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, those are some of the things that are trending on this Thursday afternoon.
We are back tomorrow morning with a whole ass episode of the show.
Until then, be kind to each other.
Be kind to yourselves.
Get the vaccine.
Get your flu shots.

Bye.
