Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of the Zeit Lotus.
Hi, I'm Jack. That's super producer Anna Hosnier.
Oh, I thought you were speaking to me.
Yeah. No, that's a common problem. Usually we edited it out because every time I speak on the show, you talk back.
Yeah, that's right.
A little distracted.
Ana, how have you been? How are you doing?
That bit makes me laugh. I'm good.
Great to have you as always. Let's tell the people what is trending so the olympics are
happening uh as we mentioned on tomorrow's episode it seems like the zeitgeist has switched from
being like these olympics are doomed to yay we won gold in swimming um we did i guess we
i think won a bunch of golds but the coolest thing that i have seen come out of
this and it's basically just via social media i haven't really watched any of mbc's coverage
other than some like having some swimming on in the background uh skateboarding the new skateboarding
this is the first olympics where skateboarding events are a thing and it's wild
like the gold medal and silver medal winner were 13 year olds yes there's like a bunch of really
cool young girls who are skateboarding and that's been the coolest part is like discovering them on
social media like um japan's funa nakayama and brazil's reisa leal and there's another skateboarder from
japan momiji nishiya sorry if i'm saying all these names wrong but they're like 16 13 uh
race is 13 and they're killing it makes me very hopeful for the young women of the future um i feel like there's some really cool kids out
there doing it man you know it yeah uh all right the my this dude in montana was trending over the
weekend because uh tucker carlson was up in montana just getting away from it all with a little fly fishing trip with his fam.
Was he in Whitefish?
I don't know if he was in Whitefish,
but that would make a lot of sense
because that is unofficial
and not because Whitefish has invited this in any way,
other than by their name,
but it is where Richardard what's his name that
white supremacist leader is lives and uh oh he was in livingston livingston montana
and this dude came up and was like you're the worst human being on the planet and tucker was not happy uh and he said all right take a breather son uh to somebody
who appeared to be like about his age um and he and the guy was like don't call me son i don't
know is i i always feel uncomfortable when seeing like those like confrontational things even if the person's completely in the right and you're watching
this like oh no do they have to fight guys guys i have an idea jack just stop watching the video
no you're not there uh as you can see i've sweat through my shirt just from watching this video
yeah but honestly the worst the guy makes some good points about
like just what tucker carlson has done to uh the country and the families because tucker carlson's
like i'm with my family man and he's like yeah but like you've destroyed families you've gotten
people killed by with your like anti-vaxxer bullshit um i am definitely a team accountability for anti-vaxxers
and team like giving making it so that people who are anti-vaxxers feel the consequence of
what they're doing because what they're doing is making it so that worse versions of covid can
continue to be out there and breeding.
And it doesn't just affect them.
It affects children who haven't been vaccinated.
It affects people who can't get the vaccine because they're immunocompromised.
It affects people overseas and a lot of countries where you can't get vaccinated.
Because, yeah, just by avoiding vaccination, you're making it so that COVID can be out there getting stronger.
Yeah.
He also just perpetuates a lot of, you know, racist and violent rhetoric, encouraging people to treat other people poorly physically and mentally.
So he's just the devil.
And I wish he'd been like, well, you know what?
Blame my bohemian mother or something yeah we haven't talked about that in too long that his uh his bohemian mother
like left the family to go be like a free spirit when he was a kid and which you know if i had been like god this kid's a fucking bummer i'm gonna go i gotta
leave i gotta get out of here no i shouldn't blame the kid but still boy did he take that to heart
and become a monster yeah fuck tucker carlson luca is trending luca donchich put up 48 in his
olympic debut and this is the first time his country has ever made
it to the Olympics and they beat Argentina who's usually a pretty good basketball team and yeah
48 in his Olympic debut I mean the U.S. men's basketball team lost over the weekend to France
does not appear that they can like kind of pull it together.
At least they haven't quite yet.
But,
but Luca,
it's interesting.
Like one really great player is pulling his team like through to,
to victory.
Whereas like three really great players on the,
on the U S team,
probably more than that.
Five really great players is not,
it's not getting it done.
So, yeah. All right. it's not getting it done. So yeah.
All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back.

It is a King Arthur movie.
That is, it's by the guy who did ghost story,
which was a movie I was like aware of.
I didn't see it,
but it was like a,
a movie where Casey Affleck wears like is dressed like a ghost,
like just a white sheet over his head,
walking around and sort of a mopey meditation
on like horror movies or on the idea of a ghost.
This seems to be a like tone poem type thing
about King Arthur.
I'm sorry, what?
Yeah, it's supposed to be like a poetic meditation
on like the medieval times
and the legend of King Arthur and
the green night,
which I wasn't even familiar with.
Didn't know that was the thing.
The green light.
It has Dev Patel in it.
Yeah.
So Dev Patel is the lead.
I mean,
there are definitely reasons to be interested in this.
We'll,
we'll check it out.
People,
people seem interested.
Um,
okay.
Okay. I'll watch it it and i watch absolutely everything oh yeah is there anything that uh isn't a streaming corner watch that you've watched
recently that you want to let us know about absolutely everything i have watched oh my god

the white lotus started that on hbo max real funny oh man really missed steve zahn what a
character steve zahn's facial expressions i mean the man can act in comedy
that's a great show recommended on hbo max right now i also recommend wellington paranormal which
is on hbo max which is a comedy out of new zealand oh never have i ever season two
love it favorite show so fun so fun Favorite show? So fun. So fun.
You're so mad.
I just love it so much. It's so fun.
I watched Girls 5.
I blew through that very quickly. I didn't realize Anna Dresden
wrote on that, but such
a good show. So funny. So many good jokes.
Yeah.
What a show.
Peacock has really been a revelation
to me well we'll talk about
We Are Lady Parts
in Thursday's
episode I believe
yes we will honey bunches and
boy do I have some thoughts on some
cool young ladies taking over
the scene
didn't care for it
is that your thought?
I have some thoughts uh parkland shooter is trending because a uh one of the parkland shooter survivors dad joined q anon or is was
influenced by q anon to believe that their son is a crisis actor they now uh after their child went through like such a
traumatic event uh they've been brainwashed by social media to the point that they think their
kid didn't actually go through that um so and the kid is interviewed by, I think, Vice and just talking about how you think your parents are unreachable.
Jesus, look at it.
How do you talk to somebody who thinks you're an actor, who thinks that you're, you know, part of a simulation that's based around child trafficking?
And like, you know, it's basically the modern equivalent of the satanic panic.
Oh, wow.
I don't even know how to process that.
If my dad was like, you crisis actor, I think that's a great opportunity.
And this is the only time that you are allowed to take a frying pan to your father's head
because that is so disturbing and so disrespectful to your child's lived experience
having to experience a trauma so deep that they thought that they might die at their school a
place that you are supposed to go to learn and feel community that you would feel like oh i could
die here a place i have to go every single day until I can graduate. And then I have to go again, if I choose
to a, you know, institution and get a higher degree. Now this place has been tainted and
ruined for me for the rest of my life that I will live in fear walking into a classroom because you
don't know what to expect because that's been literally the trauma imprinted on your soul.
And then to have your damn piece of shit dad be like i read an article online right
from this website and i think you're faking it and it's like it should it's truly like a looney
tunes frying pan to the face moment of how fucking dare you it's very very surreal reality that we live in i'm gonna add that to my list of
very few reasons to assault your parents and you do keep that updated i've noticed the list of very
few reasons to assault your parents that's really dark i don't have that list i'm very sorry
reefer madness is trending because on fox and friends this morning uh they were claiming
uh that not enough is being done about illegal marijuana use um and uh even made the claim that
marijuana use makes you violent which it demonstrably does not uh but they're they're like oh you haven't met me uh yeah that's another one of your
reasons to uh nope shut it down no no no yeah the whole concept uh first of all this clip that you
showed me from fox news where um two people two white people whose names i don't know from fox
news and brian kill me we'll insert it here so you guys can hear.
We have taken on a mindset that marijuana is not really, it's not really a big issue in our city.
I can tell you that marijuana undoubtedly is connected to violent crimes that we're seeing in our community. When you have something where people get high reward, they can make a lot of
money by selling illegal marijuana and And the risk is low.
The risk for accountability is very low. That creates a very, very, very, very, very bad
situation because those individuals get robbed. Those individuals get shot at. Those individuals
get involved in disputes all across our city. I'm seeing it happen more and more.
And he's not alone in other cities.'re doing as well but what are they going to
do it's hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube they've legalized pot in a bunch of places
and now they've seen violent crime spike they're going to say you know what we made a mistake
well they should because obviously yeah the chief's numbers support what he said okay now
if you were able to watch this video,
please watch Brian Kilmeade.
Watch it one time where you watch the full video and then watch it again
where you only watch Brian Kilmeade.
Now tell me,
do you think this man has pheromones?
Because he is giving up absolutely zero energy at all.
I don't know if he's the type of person
that you walk into
because you genuinely didn't realize he was there because that's how little energy he's the type of person that you walk into because you genuinely didn't
realize he was there because that's how little energy he's giving off in this clip but
i didn't care for it also um you're wrong yeah very it's just very wrong and they like the
crimes that they throw to a police officer who is talking about
crimes connected to marijuana
but they're basically all
connected to
the war on drugs, illegal marijuana
and people not being able to get
marijuana or dealing marijuana
or you know
and so yeah
that's the
it doesn't make sense.
It doesn't, the thing they're throwing to does not prove the point they're trying to make.
So I'm thinking about maybe going to another show for my drug advice.
No longer just going to Fox and Friends for my advice and news about drugs.
Now, I'm curious, do you feel like at this point,
like police chiefs,
it's like we're going in like a bit of a time circle.
So we legalized weed in a lot of places.
And so they couldn't, you know,
there was like a bit of a decline of blaming weed for violent crime.
And now they're like grasping at straws again,
instead of acknowledging that the pressure they put on communities and the
treatment of people of color in these communities and black people could
possibly lead to violent crimes.
They're really looking within.
They're now again,
like throwing the dartboard,
like,
okay,
okay.
What do we,
what do we got?
What do we got?
We got weed.
Weed is the problem.
It feels so like we're like in this circular mess of like,
no,
no,
honey.
No, no no we did
this yeah we already figured out that's not the problem and now you found a way to bring it back
and be like weeds the problem i mean every researcher who did the studies who was like
that's not it is probably just like ripping their hair out of like i published this we know this is not the
problem right then you have some cop on tv being like i don't know man that guy he took a hit of
reefer and then he robbed a bank or what i don't know what what's violent crime anymore these days
but it's just like it's nonsense and it's so transparently nonsense that you're like, okay.
Yeah.
I do feel like trying to blame it on marijuana is specifically a bad gambit
for the conservatives these days because I just feel like enough people have
smoked it or been around it that at this point,
like now that it's legal,
uh,
we've Tucker Carlson's like,
my goddamn mother is the problem.
Bohemian lifestyle,
smoking weed.
Right.
I mean,
what did crime like suddenly shoot up once,
uh,
people legalize marijuana.
It did not super producer on a hose.
Where can people find you and follow you and listen to you?
Um,
I'm just at Anna Hosni on Twitter.
And, you know, I have that show Ethnically Ambiguous.
Maybe you've heard of it.
Maybe you've never even heard of me.
Okay.
All right.
That's going to do it for today.
Back tomorrow with the whole last episode.
Until then, be kind to each other.
Be kind to yourselves.
Get the fucking vaccine.
Don't do nothing about white supremacy.
We'll talk to you all tomorrow.
Bye.
