I'm Jack O'Brien. That's Miles Gray.
Miles, how are you doing this fine
Earth Day?
Oh, fine. Fine on this Earth Day.
How about you?
I'm great, man.
I feel great. Look great look great wonderful you know look good
feel good totally everything's coming up o'brien i've sweat through my uh t-shirt for the first
time in a while uh yeah hey finally getting that heat finally starting to get a little heat wave
i'm surprised because we went from chili by la standards fuck you standards by the rest
like everyone else in the country like fuck you that's hot but now we're fully like we're looking
at i'm looking at 90 degrees in the valley baby by tomorrow are you really yes and we had an
earthquake last night yeah it's it's earthquake for earth day did you did you feel the earthquake
i did but it's weird growing
up in la i always relied on animals to let me know when the earth was shaking because my dogs
as a kid would always bark my dog now didn't bark so i just thought like a helicopter was
flying really low i was like half asleep anyway and then i was like oh okay yeah yeah it was
almost like felt it was like one really violent shake, basically,
is what it felt like.
Yeah, it was one of those drop ones.
It was almost like the earth,
like the earth just like got shaken out
like a blanket one time.
It was like more like it was hitting switches
like in a low rider, just real quick.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But it really like, I don't know,
I guess all earthquakes are very different
to like depending on where you are.
Like it just like from one house to the next, like not only people's experiences, but like how like what it does to the property can change a lot.
I have a friend who was standing up during the earthquake last night and got like knocked to his knees.
And I was just like yeah whatever sarah
yeah he got he fell over he was your your friend was saying he was walking around
minding his business the earthquake habit and he brought him down to his knees yeah he got
knocked over holy shit and he's not like a bullshitter type no i know i'm just like it's
such a weird thing to hear like i'm like what like it's i've not heard like bring him to his knees like in prayer yeah right humility not like
in a soul singer kind of way balance brought me to my knees okay yeah but it also just psychologically
was like very different in in my household my kids didn't wake up. I thought there was an explosion,
but it really freaked the wife out a little bit.
What's going on this earth there?
People celebrating in any interesting way?
Anything cool going on?
A lot of the talk is basically
how normally this is such an outdoors,
arm-in-arm, people showing up
in solidarity for the earth kind of stuff
just what is it now now that everyone is locked inside so it's a lot of you know it just seems
like a topic everyone's talking about and i think you know in some parts it's just about
acknowledging what the emissions have looked like uh in terms of like in a post-lockdown world where
a lot of the emissions have dropped
but you know are everyone's like just like that though the switch can be flipped right back on
and we're gonna be right back to where we are and i think yeah it's interesting to think about
earth day in the context that we're in right now and to think you know there is a way there might
be ways for us to live slightly differently to the benefit of our own health of the earth and our own physical
health and yeah like that's that's the one thing i hope you know that will that will give me hope
at the end of this is that we can try and actually take something from this and find ways to live
more efficiently and more humanely yeah i saw a herd of wild buffalo running down the street
just the other day. Like that's,
that's where we're at right now, man.
Oh man.
Wild.
I,
you just,
you see the,
there was an article,
there's an article about,
uh,
that idea that the shutdown has made the sky clear and the air clear.
And like,
they had a picture of Paris on a foggy day and they were like,
see, this is what Paris used to look like.
Now look at it.
Wow.
I was like, come on, man.
Jesus.
What the fuck?
Let's get on to more important things.
Honey boo-boos trending.
Yeah.
And I don't know why.
I need you to tell me.
Okay.
Do you remember the existence of Honey Boo-Boo Child?
Hell yeah, dude.
So she, Alana, whatever her name is there's a rumor
going around that she is pregnant at 14 because some social media account uh like that i don't
know has like i guess talks about these kinds of celebrities had like a picture of like a sonogram
and was like oh but it's a lie and everybody was talking about it
because people were like gee please this this this year doesn't need to get more bizarre uh so
worry not good people of earth honey bobo is not pregnant that whole like show and the aftermath
is like so dark because one of the figures i think her father-in-law or
something like had some sort of child pornography uh there was hopefully i'm not just making this
up no there was something there's some controversy with that one sugar bear or whatever they all have
weird ass nicknames yeah and the mom i know the mom has a uh like a reality
show of her own uh and there was like i and i know people talk they don't like the man she's
with now either i don't know the whole thing that's the weird shit about these reality shows
and even anything revolve like revolving around families where like the child people like a parent
can commodify their mere existence of their child
and it can all it can get weird very quickly reality like america is just accidentally evil
enough without like having an industry where it's like specifically designed to like point and laugh
at how unfortunate certain people are right i don't i don't need it uh las
vegas is trending probably for a fun reason right oh yeah yeah they're doing uh deep discounts on
people's lives uh because the mayor oh tight yeah she she was on anderson cooper out here saying
that she the the sort of like back and forth of this interview is saying like look
you know where everyone here is locked down we have no idea what it looks like if people relax
these social distancing measures if you're you know maybe your your infection rates are lower
just go right back to it and see what happens but we got to see what happens and she's like you know
and in a way like i want i would love for las vegas to be a control group for that experiment to see what happens so you can compare it.
And he's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you saying?
You're offering for your city to be a control group in a maniacal experiment that will end up in loss of life?
That's what you're saying?
She's like, well, hold on.
Don't put words in my mouth.
He's like, well, what did you just say?
He's like, well, I said that.
And then the statistician of the city said no we can't do that so i was like okay fine but either way i'm like we should probably do
something like this he's like wait but you're saying the same thing either way even if you
didn't do it right the sentiment is that don't use words yeah don't use words all right and then
she laughed to say i did a bad right she was like okay come on
anderson no no and he's saying you know no if you're even serious about this because all experts
are saying you know this is not this is not the time to be experimenting especially when the
results are death um you know if that's the case if you're willing to be a quote-unquote control
group are you gonna are you willing to be like arm in arm down in the casinos with the people who are actually going to be at risk and live as they would?
Or you're just saying that to be on your like in your ivory as if it were like you were just A.B. testing like new logos for the city fair or some shit.
Like it's not about that.
You're you're saying, no, a control group.
And again, with the poverty rates in that state and county.
And also when you look at the kinds of people who would be working there,'re really just talking about a lot of black and brown lives too so this whole yeah this whole back to
work shit also smacks of like a fuck you know black and brown workers thing too because that's
really absolutely the numbers are showing like those are the people who are really going to be
at most risk it's just fucking whatever that's where they're at it makes people go back and yeah
and if they if they want to go back if she wants to go back and start working uh all power to her
but yeah that's that's her decision fine yeah get everybody how about this everybody who wants to
work go to work and then you can put your lives at risk once you a mayor why don't you go to the
deal at the blackjack table?
Or go be one of the servers.
We're going to need her to quarantine, though.
All those people need to live in a neighborhood by themselves.
Well, speaking of Bond villains, Kim Jong-un might be dying. You never can tell what's happening in North Korea.
He had cardiovascular issues due to his smoking and obesity.
And he had to have surgery of some sort.
And that's really all anyone knows other than that he was supposed to be
recuperating.
And then there was an event that they always expect to be like one of the
events i think it was his grandfather's birthday uh one of the events that he is always present at
and he wasn't there so people are like he might be dying and there's also just like reason other
reasons like just chatter uh within north korea but, it's really hard to tell because they specifically are designed
to not let information out about Dear Leader.
But one of the stories that's starting to pop up
is that his sister,
who kind of came to international attention
during the Korean Olympics a couple years ago and she
was like right next to mike pence and then she was also the person who delivered the letter to
the south korean leader uh that was like y'all should meet up uh which was she's just like kind
of popped up here and there yeah and people are saying she might now be the person who is ascendant to the throne.
Yeah.
Kim Yo-jong has been.
Kim Yo-jong.
She's been like, she was kicked out of like the Politburo, but brought back recently.
So there's a lot of back and forth where she's kind of, you know, she's been up and down,
I think, in terms of like her influence.
She's been up and down, I think, in terms of her influence.
But yeah, the way a lot of the reporting is around her brother,
it was saying a pulmonary issue led to, and then recently it was like,
a cardiovascular surgical procedure.
And you're like, some kind of heart?
It sounds like some kind of heart problem. Some some kind of um heart problem kind of heart lung i mean but yeah like that's one of those heart lung heart lung things those and
apparently that's a big that could be a big problem uh but yeah it's it's so hard to know
what exactly is going on uh but his kids i mean he has kids but they're not old enough
to like actually yeah they're not old this is a situation where they need an heir yeah they're talking about her as an heir but only like in a temporary role
until his sons can like come of age but uh it's funny because like all the pictures you used to
see of her she looked like very uh like kind of cute and mousy, like just like very friendly. And like, I think she was kind of portrayed as like the counterbalance to Pence and
Pence looked all serious.
And she looked like,
I don't know,
like was the trying to put out an air of fun.
But the second that she's being like considered for the role of leadership.
Now there's like these posters or these
uh pictures that are showing up everywhere where she looks straight up like a bond villain like
they've got this one that like yeah the media's gotta you know be like okay she has like an eye
scar turn the switch on she's no longer being the person fronting the olympics now we'll have to be
like this is the face of the regime the thing with yeah i mean her she's very
you know a lot of people say like she is the one who was behind like even crafting her brother's
like media persona and image so she's very she knows she knows she knows how to work the cameras
uh so to speak so we'll see what i mean i again it's really beyond like what's next. It's very interesting to find out what is going on with her brother.
And because I'm really curious to know what that does from a stability standpoint within the country, like what happens and who ends up on the top or in front of an anti-air artillery cannon.
Yeah, that's what I'm that's the other thing i'm thinking is
if he isn't incapacitated if he does just like pop right back into power i can't imagine this
is good for her that she is like become sort of the de facto successor no so we'll see yeah
we just don't know as Dr. Oz says.
All right,
guys,
that's going to do it for this episode.
Uh,
we hope you are having a good day out there.
Uh,
we'll be back tomorrow with a whole new episode.
