Starting point is 00:02:01 Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of trend it go trend it go uh that's that frozen song that uh i haven't heard in a long time yeah i thank the heavens i'm jack you are miles yes uh that that one is courtesy of johnny dav He's, he dropped some Disney song trending titles on us. So nonstop with it on stop with it. Uh, we will be talking about those for a little while. Thank you, sir.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Yeah. Yeah. Sydney Poitier is trending. Uh, RIP the Legion. One of the greats. Legend mate. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:40 My grandma was in love with him. I used to just think he was this guy. My grandmother loved him. He didn't know think he was this guy my grandmother loved. I didn't know who he was until the movie Sneakers came out. Then I remember being like, Sidney Poitier's in this movie? I'm like, what are you talking about? This old black guy with Robert Redford? Then very much I was put on game to how important he is to film and being the first black man to win best best actor academy award
Starting point is 00:03:05 um so shout out my grandma you know i hope you've seen sydney up there but i'm gonna let you feel turning red is trending that's a new pixar movie yeah that is coming trending because they said they're putting it straight to disney plus right because that's yeah yeah i guess they dropped the trailer a month ago i did not notice but a while back yeah yeah this is i think even five months ago oh okay the trailer i watched was released one month ago oh got it got it but it's uh it seems like it's a cross between big and teen wolf set in a pixar children's movie was that supposed to be like toronto oh i don't know there was like a needle thing in the background maybe it toronto oh i don't know there was like a needle thing in the background maybe it's seattle i don't know i'm not good with needles toronto
Starting point is 00:03:50 but it uh you're not good with needles just in general yeah just in general so i had to drink my vaccine that's why i work so good um hey he said it's a shot, right? Just put it in the shot glass. Shot, shot, shot, shot. Sorry. Yeah, but she turns into a red panda and then very much Teen Wolf logic. She learns how to control it. Appears to even use it in a basketball game. Her ability to turn into a giant animal.
Starting point is 00:04:27 And then, yeah, it looks cute. Yeah, and I see some Asian flavor coming out of Pixar. But yeah, this is, I think a lot of people on Twitter, they're disappointed. They're like, it's been three Pixars in a row with no theatrical release. But I think, you know, disney's business model is yeah you know what you like we can we can get you in the seats for the the superhero films because that's a different demo but like when it comes to the family stuff
Starting point is 00:04:56 we figure we can get some more subscriptions some more or even free or stream it for free sometimes but yeah yeah i get it uh we'll we'll check this one out i haven't seen encanto yet i heard that one's really good yeah i watched part of it uh with my nephews and boys over the break it is fun it is uh scary according to my three year old uh everything is scary to him yeah well at that age i want this trailer i just immediately flagged as uh you would be running out of the room and shouting too scary uh at me oh because of like the transformation and the kind of aggression nightmare part uh they they go dark with it when she's first turning into uh yeah the yeah. The red and her, like you see her like retina pupils dilate and stuff.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Okay. We get it. We get it. But Hey, yeah. Should I check out, uh, turning red,
Starting point is 00:05:51 I guess. Yeah. He does not like the pupil dilation shit. Like we watched, uh, what's that one called? Requiem for a dream. He did not.
Starting point is 00:05:59 He was like, that's too much, too much for me, man. Yeah. You didn't even get to the ass to ask. Right. Like, that's too much too much for me man yeah you didn't get to the ass to ask right like that's the thing that's what's so frustrating is he gets scared and stuff before we get to the good part that he should actually be scared then i'll give you something to be scared of you like wrestling
Starting point is 00:06:16 right let's check out the wrestler have you ever seen a warm girl what was that song bruce springsteen did for that i don't know man i actually never saw the wrestler but oh really yeah it's one of those movies that i just kind of pretended i'd seen because i knew i probably should have probably i mean i don't know this i don't know if uh sure i guess it could be a thing you should have seen but i i purely only watched it because like i liked wrestling yeah and i was like oh hell yeah i liked wrestling. Yeah. And I was like, oh, hell yeah. I liked wrestling until I was like five. And then I had this friend named Farley who was still into it.
Starting point is 00:06:55 And I was like, I don't know if this is a good look for me and Farley to still be into wrestling. And so I bailed. Bruce Springsteen does a song for it called The Wrestler. And he's like, he's the first time I was like, have you ever seen a one trick pony? I remember just always laughing at that. I'm like, this is great.
Starting point is 00:07:17 It's beautiful. It's beautiful. Yeah, the movie. Don't worry. You don't need to lie. Just be like, nah no i never saw that shit uh mario kart 9 hey mario kart mario mario a mario uh as it's pronounced only in new jersey seemingly mario kart 9 that's coming it's coming at us uh excited yeah i haven't played it since n64 yeah i'm like when was the last i think i this like i'm like nine i'm like isn't there just super mario kart and then the n64 one yeah and i know obviously there's gamecube and other ones but i just at that point
Starting point is 00:07:58 my connection uh has has grown larger to the franchise so uh they're saying Mario Kart 9 is in development with a twist. Oh boy, what's that? The article is guessing at what that twist could be cooking up. Actually, they didn't really guess. They said previous games have introduced dual passenger vehicles. Yeah, okay. Double dash. Actually, I am more familiar with Mario Kart than I thought.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Gliding Mario Kart 7. I thought. Gliding, Mario Kart 7. I thought they had gliding on N64, but maybe I'm thinking of a different, maybe I'm thinking of drifting. Not drifting. They're talking about gliding. Gliding, the dance move. Anti-gravity, Mario Kart 8. If that is the twist, I'm assuming something bigger if they're saying it's in development with a twist like i'm assuming something more central than a new move or
Starting point is 00:08:51 well anti-gravity is pretty like where do you go from this it's like yeah you know time dilation yeah yeah okay oh that would be dope actually yeah like little uh portal guns that you can like shoot yeah or just even be like you hit the time dilation button and all your opponents slow down but you maintain speed right and like so it's like a fucking quick boost but you you frame it as timed out like whatever the shout out to i mean nintendo knows what the fuck they're doing so uh and i still don't have a switch jack but i'm sure you'll be copping that on your Switch. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Okay. Switch daddy over here. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll come back and tell the people what else is trending. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. Thank you. an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts,

It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente.
Starting point is 00:10:40 And I'm Jimei Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do,
Starting point is 00:11:10 like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have a thinking about you I want you back in my life it's too late for that I have a proposal for you come up here and document my project all you need to do is record everything like you always do one session 24 hours BPM 110 120 she's terrified Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out?
Starting point is 00:12:11 I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller
Starting point is 00:12:31 from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Do you ever wonder where your favorite foods come from? Like what's the history behind bacon-wrapped hot dogs? Hi, I'm Eva Longoria. Hi, I'm Maite Gomez-Rejon. Our podcast, Hungry for History, is back.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Season two. Season two. Are we recording? Are we good? Oh, we push record, right? And this season, we're taking an even bigger bite out of the most delicious food and its history. Saying that the most popular cocktail is the margarita, followed by the mojito from Cuba, and the piña colada from Puerto Rico.
Starting point is 00:13:12 So all of these... We have, we thank Latin culture. There's a mention of blood sausage in Homer's Odyssey that dates back to the 9th century B.C. B.C.? I didn't realize how old the hot dog was. Listen to Hungry for History as part of the My Cultura podcast network, available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
Starting point is 00:13:33 get your podcasts. And we're back. And Ahmaud Arbery is trending because the men who murdered him and were found guilty have been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole in two cases. A life sentence plus 20 years without the possibility of parole, which seems like a tough one to get past. And then the third guy, the guy who filmed it and was the neighbor who helped them got, uh, life with the possibility of parole in 30 years. Cause he only filmed the brutal murder.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Okay. Well, yeah, it's, uh, I'm glad to see some like actual, uh, some kind of justice.
Starting point is 00:14:20 I mean, years on after what happened. Cause I remember it was a while before the crime happened and it even entered like the like media consciousness right of what went down yeah it was only because one of the murderers chose to film it and then uh somebody leaked it uh what maybe you guys should see this dawn fm is trending which is the new weekend album dawn as in d-a-w-n not dawn like my favorite uh serious channel don oh don henley oh got you got you all henley all the time not trump jr um yeah this is uh we were we were just kind of scanning through it he is going like he's been on trajectory to be more like electro you know synthy 80s and uh producer brian enlightened
Starting point is 00:15:14 us that 10 tricks point never is also producing this with it and it's it's actually i don't i don't i'm not mad at it at all uh i have to kind of listen to it more, but just, you know, the other production felt super poppy and this feels like they're really trying to honor like this very synth heavy sound. And in that sense, I'm kind of like, okay, I might listen through this. And he's also got a different affect in some songs.
Starting point is 00:15:38 He's has a thick British accent, uh, on one of the songs. I don't know why you don't know. You're like, Oh, okay. Okay. Apple. Like he definitely has his own bits that he's doing all the time. accent uh on one of those i don't know why you don't know you're like oh okay okay abel like he definitely has his own bits that he's doing all the time uh with yeah and i think that's what's
Starting point is 00:15:51 kind of interesting like it kind of when i sort of look at it i used to be like man just do this shit from the mixtapes people know this about me right um that's the my one of some of my favorite work of his and but i think for him he truly looks at he's an artist he's like no i did that now i want to do an album like this and like maybe i'll do a bunch of cocaine and make an album and now i'm doing diet sobriety and going this direction diet sobriety means just the cocaine he's cut everything else out pretty much so yeah it's i'm gonna i'm actually gonna listen to a little bit more because there's i think there's something i'm more intrigued by the production and like how
Starting point is 00:16:29 much he's trying to be like this is the sound of this album more than other ones felt like the labels were like you kind of you kind of need to give us some like nailed on pop hits yeah one or tricks point never is the dude who does i think all the music for all the safty brothers movies that's how i found out about him. I know he's done other shit. He's a pretty accomplished artist, but that's how I found out about him. That's also how I found out about The Weeknd, was his performance in Uncut Gems.
Starting point is 00:16:57 I was like, who's this guy? Right, right, right. No, but I guess that's how they met, possibly. I don't know. That would be my guess. Yeah, I mean, look at him now. And then at the album release party they spotted angelina jolie so at first you're like i don't know maybe they're working on something they working on something uh i don't know what it is but it's something also jim carrey uh yeah he plays so the dawn fm is like a um it's a concept where like you're listening to a radio
Starting point is 00:17:29 station uh and the dj is one jim carrey they're both from ontario and uh canadian powerhouses man yeah man then there's other spoken word appearances from josh safty and daily zeitgeist favorite quincy jones baby wow so who knows what he's gonna say on on that but i i think it's gonna be i i'm i'm intrigued to hear this at very full volume yeah yeah me too you the fact that you're intrigued after listening to it once makes me intrigued because I usually need to listen like four times before I'm like, okay, yeah, I do like this. Well, as I go through it, I'm like, oh, wow. Everything was sort of like, oh.
Starting point is 00:18:14 I remember the first song we played, we both were like, oh. Everybody, we were all listening together. We were like, oh, he's giving us some like Brighton. Do you have the time to listen to me yeah like almost but he does it i don't know like but you buy it so that's why i'm like that's why and the production because i do like one of tricks point never so it's not like he's got i mean there are some other producers on it but like you can hear the sort of authenticity of like i don't know just whatever check it out if you want to if you'd like the uh taco bell is trending because they they've introduced wings which is not
Starting point is 00:18:54 the that that didn't make sense to me when i read it and then i like read an article about it where they were like, let me just read this intro from Uproxx. Taco Bell is doing wings. Did anyone ask them to? Absolutely not. No one even thought to ask because this is Taco Bell we're talking about. They don't have wings. And yet we have to admit the idea is intriguing. If the company created wings that are actually good we might be
Starting point is 00:19:25 dealing with a game changer like it seems like that i thought they were gonna like explain to me why it made sense but they don't they don't they're just like because good things are good and people like them and do taco bell man with us what the fuck man they also doing a subscription taco program which thank you to all the listeners out there who were just tagging me in every post dealing with Taco Bell. But they're doing like a taco a day. It's like a taco a day for 30 days. It's like 10 bucks. 10 bucks?
Starting point is 00:19:55 Yeah. What? Yeah. Just soft tacos? Or is it? You can choose. What? Yeah, you can get a crunchy taco.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Look, I'm not.'m not look taco bell you've been fucking around for too long you need to come hop in the water with me and give me a free diarrhea for life uh but yeah it's like you can do supreme whatever i mean all this to say is like it's it's another way to get people to download an app and like and live live in that ecosystem. Yeah. But for me, I'm old school. I can't do no fast food app. I'm pulling up. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Yeah. And that's, that's the whole, the whole joy. So apparently the wings are seasoned with taco bells, queso seasoning, uh, which consists of chili powder,
Starting point is 00:20:39 paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and the smallest hint of cayenne pepper. Oh, wow. Let's be real. No one's going to be able to discern that when they eat it. It's going to be like, yeah, man, it's just hitting parts of my brain enough that I register
Starting point is 00:20:54 this as unoffensive and I can keep eating it. Yeah. They say it tastes great. Very similar to Taco Bell's nacho fry seasoning. I'd hazard a guess. It's the exact same mix. And then they give you spicy ranch, which you can dip the wings in. They do look, they look very like heavily fried.
Starting point is 00:21:15 You know, it's not like that, that real battery, like where it's like got a lot of sauce, but not a lot of like frying. It looks like these are deep fried wings very deep fried and battered and i you know to be honest i don't like batter on my wings i'm just a i just deep fry the shit out of them just put the wings straight in the oil there's just completely different things like i yeah i am very fond of uh outback steakhouses wings they are yeah yeah yeah have you tried them no man every time i'm weird whenever i go there i only i get the same fucking thing and i haven't been in onions and uh 14 blooming onions just eat my weight and blooming onions and an alice springs chicken dinner i love it. I love an Alice Springs chicken.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Which is, you know, wow, because when I used to go to Outback, I was broke as fuck. So I wasn't really buying the steakhouse element of it. I was not really, not to say it's that much more expensive, but in my mind, I was like, you know what? And you know, I'm not, I'm not balling. So I'm going to keep it at the Alice Springs chicken. And by the time I was able you know i could graduate to eating the steaks i always just ate i just really liked the alice springs chicken but
Starting point is 00:22:29 i haven't been for real in like maybe eight years yeah alice springs chicken for people who don't know is just a chicken breast with bacon and an extra cheese pizza's worth of cheese on top of it yeah exactly it's so so good it's an absolute just torture for your body but that's why again it happened in my youth you know i was able to subject myself to the uh but the wings are not wing they're not wings by any traditional definition they're just uh you know all drumsticks first of So, yeah. But they're deep fried and, like, heavily battered. And they don't have wing sauce on them. They're just, but they're good. Like, I like them as a separate thing.
Starting point is 00:23:14 I don't view them as wings, but they're still pretty good. Oh, because they're so, like, they're like mini fried chickens. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, the kookaburra wings. Yeah, the kookaburra wings. Yeah little kick yeah the kookaburra wings yeah what is a kookaburra i remember uh kookaburra sits in all about it's a terrestrial tree kingfisher bird oh okay and that is what they're made that's weird to name your chicken wings after another bird right like flamingo wings but i get that you're like man what would
Starting point is 00:23:46 a flamingo wing be big as fuck yeah uh oh is that a thing i bet that's like some fucked up no people don't need flamingo do they you know they might we don't need to we don't need to get into that we don't need to get into whether or not and if you are let me know because i'm curious what that looks like it but i don't think i could ever eat it flamingos are beautiful creatures they are kookaburras on the other hand get the shit out of them little kingfishers just pop them in my mouth like popcorn shrimp which is why those birds are so small but i get look everything about that outback it's like i miss like a restaurant that is so heavy handed with like their identity. They're teaming.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Yeah. I think the closest thing are like food trucks. You know what I mean? Like where like you'll get that like sort of same like naming convention because of things called like salads with a Z. So then everything's got to see like a Caesar salad. And you're like, OK like okay well like just fucking give me the whatever but sometimes it's i mean you know you had your rainforest cafe you had your hollywood what was the uh planet hollywood planet hollywood oh the cap and crunch chicken tenders
Starting point is 00:24:58 i never ate at either of those places but i do feel like there's a there was a golden age of theme restaurants my birthday when i was fucking 13 no 12 there a nike town had opened in beverly hills and i told my mom i said for my birthday i just want you to take me to nike town and like let me get some penny hardaway shorts this is all i want like and let's whatever penny hardaway stuff isn't like let's get some penny stuff it's this is all i want like and let's whatever penny hardaway stuff isn't like let's get some penny stuff and she's like okay motherfucker you can get shorts and then afterwards there's a planet hollywood next door and i was like can we fully make this the best day of my life planet hollywood get the and stall, man. No, just eating that Cap'n Crunch, those tenders, man.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Wait, what are... Cap'n Crunch. They crushed Cap'n Crunch and they put that on the... That's like part of the fry thing. Wow. Yeah. And now we got our version of theme restaurants, Cafe Gratitude. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Yeah. For the absolute worst. Brian pointed out that's what we got instead but like I just like everything blessed right I'll have the I am adequate with a side of father I'm actually doing well that's right um but I'm just looking at the appetizer list for Outback they can't't hold back. It's like Bloomin' Onion, Bloomin' Fried Shrimp, Aussie Cheese Fries, Kookaburra Wings, Grilled Shrimp on the Babby, Gold Carst,
Starting point is 00:26:32 Carcass Shrimp, Sydney Shrooms, Aussie Twisted Rebs, Seared Pepper Ahi, Steakhouse Mac and Cheese Bites. For that one, they couldn't come up with a fucking... Right. Whatever. All right. I mean mean the fact that they showed the restraint to not call the first shrimp dish shrimp on the babby was pretty wild i think because it wasn't on the yeah because it wasn't on the babby okay and then on that weird like that brown bread remember that right shrimp not on the babby what is that what was up with that bread
Starting point is 00:27:05 i remember being like so sweet yeah i was like what the fuck is the bread at like why is this shit brown yeah and i'm thinking like it was a ripoff man like expensive bread is white i don't know why that was my idea pulling up to like in my youth you know you're like paying for your own food like that weird teenage age yeah just sweet dark brown bread uh yeah i remember i was such a treat to get like a uh virgin daiquiri at one of those places when i was a kid whoo that was my god dude you know what the fucking do you know what the cost is i'm sorry this isn't a fucking food podcast at the moment but i'm just like menu and website a fucking they have a special right now for an espresso butter porterhouse it's
Starting point is 00:27:54 38 what that ain't you can't do that outback what the fuck do you think who do you think you are who do you think you are lowry's the fuck is this but i guess man meat's expensive that's it and that's why i realized this is why i was a fucking alice springs chicken fan and that shit i can come on i don't even want to oh my god you know how much alice springs chicken is now Don't tell me, man. It's going to fuck me up. 20 bucks. What? What is this? What has it been? Eight years since I've been to a restaurant plus inflation? I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:33 Maybe it's just inflation, right? But I mean, Outback was never cheap cheap. That's why in my mind, Outback was like the height of where I could go. You know what has been cheap cheap? Those kookaburras. When I'm throwing them in my mouth. Che could go. You know what has been cheap, cheap? Those kookaburras. What I'm throwing in my mouth. Cheap, cheap. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:28:50 Cheap, cheap, cheap. You hear what I'm saying? I do hear what you're saying. This guy gets it. All right. That is what is trending. On this Friday afternoon, we are back on Monday with the whole last episode of the show. We have a best of the week
Starting point is 00:29:08 coming out over the weekend. Yep. And yeah, we will talk to y'all then. Bye. Bye. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. Starting point is 00:29:39 Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and Shekinah Church. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports.
