Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Trentroducing DJ Shadow.
I am Jack.
That is Miles.
Welcome back, Miles.
Hey, how are you?
Oh my God.
How is everybody?
Yo, apologies up front i was the tiredest i've
ever been on this morning's episode y'all i sea world really took it out of me um and then i was
also traveling last week i don't know it was a lot it was a lot and uh i gotta apologize man my eyes two times a day uh my eyes were like tiny they
were like little pinholes oh just so tired now yeah yeah get your sleep anyways uh i went to bed
right after recording at like one o'clock and uh now i'm feeling well-rested. There you go. And I do it all for you guys.
There we go.
Let's tell the people what's trending.
Coach K is trending.
He's retiring, supposedly.
Mike Krzyzewski.
But not effective immediately, right?
No.
He's going to do the farewell tour.
Yeah.
He still needs to, I guess he ain't quite ready,
but he's just letting everybody know. Maybe it's to get the most
out of the players. I don't know. Wouldn't you play harder
if you knew your legendary coach?
This is it, man. Come on, guys.
Let's go.
It's after this next season.
He's always looked like
Hitler if he shaved his mustache.
In my mind, I'm always surprised that he's not
retired i'm like he's is he retiring yet no yeah he's been around for so long you want to talk
about somebody who's acting like their career has spanned five decades that isn't andrew giuliani
right mike mike shishofsky yeah man i remember when i was devastated. I was shot out of a cannon into my Ducatrid
when they beat the undefeated running Rebs, UNLV, which was my favorite college team of all time.
And just the most corrupt program ever.
Those Tarkanian years.
program at Tarkanian those Tarkanian years uh but man I love I loved that team and I went to the final four game when they lost to Duke and thus began my long career of jinxing uh anytime I go
to a game where I really have a strong rooting interest uh it's bad news for that team anyways Coach K as my friends pointed out
there's something about him that just says
he loves pickles
doesn't he just look like he would love a pickle
yeah like he's like
if you went into his office and you're like hey coach
and he's like oh
what's going on JJ
shout out to my friend Cass
like Coach K loves pickles, man.
Or he really respects it with a fork and knife and shit.
He got that barrel of pickles in his room.
It's a fork and knife job.
Nah, Coach K don't do that.
I'm telling you.
Just one other thing.
Gave me an appreciation for how Polish names are spelled.
Because I remember it blew my mind when I saw it spelled.
It's Mike Krzyzewski. And then it's like Coach K. And shishavsky and then it's like coach k and i'm like huh and then i saw it i'm like right english
doesn't just work in the ignorant way americans think it does or at least the roman the roman
characters don't i think there's no better testament to uh the american character than
the art form of shortening Polish last names to
just a letter
I had a friend
Skinjeleski was
his last name and we just called him Ski
yeah there it is
there it is baby
Danny Ainge
is retiring also
shout out to probably the
person I like the least in sports um it's got a weird
weird phrenology tendencies allegedly uh but i think people have reported on that uh but um i
mean this is this is also coming off the heels where he was like when kyrie irving's like yeah
you know i don't hope for no hopefully there's no racism in boston and his response that was like I never heard any of that from any single player that I've ever played with
in my never seen racism in Boston and really in fact this is the first I've heard of racism because
I don't see color so I don't see color also I don't know history and I don't know who Bill
Russell is who famously said all of the shit that he dealt with when he played in the fucking garden I'm actually colorblind I don't see
history so yeah
oh yeah that's when it gets
really weird I just like to look forward
and away at conflict
anyways he's
retiring he was the president of basketball operations
for
number of years had a lot of success as
the president of basketball operations with the
Celtics
and they just got this this makes me love the nets uh so much more um because i've
like i'm looking for a reason to root for the nets i just love watching them because they've
they've just nobody's ever put together three perimeter uh players as good as they've got and
they just bounced them but bounced the celdics
unceremoniously from the from the first round and the next day danny age retires come on i love you
i love it yeah um anyways uh good riddance to good garbage uh proud boys and oath keepers
are trending speaking of good good garbage or bad garbage.
They're tripping, man.
Why are they tripping?
Because the cases are getting...
They're intensifying from the straight-up conspiracy cases that they're building with the Oath Keepers.
There's schisms happening where people are trying to distance
themselves from local chapters. There's disagreements. I mean, this is, they're starting
to scatter. I mean, this one journalist was putting it, that's just sort of saying like,
the reason people, it's attractive is that they have like this we're winning narrative,
which was really prevalent and clear in the Trump years, especially when you're getting
shout outs and shit like that.
But this is pointing out that
it's very important that these people are
as many people are brought to
trial
and find justice
to actually counter
that idea or that
the presentation
or concept of what these people are.
It ain't winning. It ain't winning.
I'll tell you that.
Yeah.
It's hard to hold on to white supremacy when you're so clearly not supreme.
Right.
One question just kind of tangentially related,
but that I think I asked on a recent episode,
but like,
do,
are there,
have any journalistic institutions
talked about their plans to do a deep dive into the insurrection um because i don't i never had
a lot like high hopes for any governmental truth like fact-finding commission right like it's not
like incapable yeah so like why why were unless they want your money and they figure it out real quick.
Um,
I can't,
I think if it's one of those things,
it's probably going to be something that is being worked on,
you know,
not publicly because they are,
you know,
they want to make sure they can preserve sources and things like that.
And really starting connect those dots.
So I'm sure there's something to come out.
I mean,
we saw the amount of independent media that came out just to start putting images together and parlor videos and clips and things
like that. So yeah, I mean, there's definitely a lot of the people who work on counter extremism,
I'm sure have a vested interest, but who knows? I mean, also the other reason the Power Proud
Boys are trending is because Paul Gosar, who's one of the absolute shittiest representatives in Congress from Arizona,
they found some apparently leaked messages that he was trying to collab with the Proud Boys to disrupt Biden's win in Arizona.
to disrupt biden's win in arizona um okay yeah so you're seeing how like even these hyper right wing representatives in congress look at these groups as being like oh these are people i can
unleash um for our bidding and i'll just you know stay separated yeah gotta keep them separated. You've always said that. Well, speaking of proud boys, Rudy Giuliani's little boy who makes him proud is Andrew Giuliani.
And we talked last week about how on the strength of his five years or five decades in politics, including his gestation period,
I think,
uh,
in the 1980s,
yes,
in the 1980s.
Uh,
he is going to throw his hat in the ring for New York governor.
He's also apparently a medical expert.
Yeah.
He's been getting some flack because people are like saying he's,
they've noticed you're wearing,
you're not,
you don't have a mask on.
You know,
these situations where you're in
a public setting and indoors, like food or retail establishments, and you're also not vaccinated,
so you can't just go masks away, sir. But that's why he says, look, you guys are tripping.
And what he says is, I have not been vaccinated. I have the antibodies. I understand people want
to make a big deal that I haven't gotten vaccinated and still attending events, but I have the antibodies. Okay. Now, I understand there's a lot of people who, there's a lot of studies going into this to see what it means if you've been infected and those natural antibodies that are created.
But there's, you know, there's much to say that some protection is offered, but it's not clear enough to say, oh, yeah, that's the same as vaccinated.
Take your mask off.
You're good to go.
Because I know people who are rocking the antibodies argument and got COVID twice.
Yeah. So I don't it's hard to keep going with, you know, especially when you have somebody here who's running for governor and you're out loud saying just like this.
So, like, I got the antibodies.
You know, that's what's going on. you're good you got the antibodies do your thing
i know so many people who got covid and then when they got tested for the antibodies they weren't
there so like right yeah there's another thing they're the tests they say are hard too because
they don't understand the biases of the subjects that they've tested who people who may have
antibody like who have antibodies but they may not know what that means for them in particular.
So it's hard to really have an analysis unless you know like, oh, this person was wilding
out and had antibodies and still was safe. Other times it could be someone had COVID,
has antibodies, did not want to fuck around again and was very careful and didn't get infected so that
may be a reason why yeah but all that people are like super spreaders who have covid the whole time
don't aren't symptomatic and just are spreading it to everyone yeah um yeah if only there were
yeah we don't need that kind of we don't need that shit but then again but again it's all it
all depends on your ideology folks that's if you want to take your tips from a fucking weird goon like
this guy sure uh you know let him rock but uh for i think most people probably know things
if only there were like a uh way that you could inject your body with something that would cause
it to produce antibodies so you wouldn't get sick but i jack i have an
immune system right okay so huh so that's what i have to say all right got it so you don't know
drop it vaccines work drop it i have an immune system drop it end of story and find a new angle yeah good luck oh man well those are some of the things that are
trending uh today we are back tomorrow with a whole ass episode of the show until then
be kind to each other be kind to yourselves get a vaccine don't do nothing about white supremacy
and we will talk to you all then. Bye. Bye. Matt Bomer, Emma Roberts, and Colin Jost. Did you say a Caesar salad with lobster?
Yeah.
Whoa.
