Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Zidon Williamson. Oh, Zidon.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Yeah. Zidon. Zidon. Okay, yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Williamson. I think that's where we're going with.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Yeah. As far as Johnny Davis, he provided with Zidon Williams. I think the intention was clear. We get it. We get it. Shout out to Johnny Davis. JD. The Pelicans will be interesting when Zidon is back.
Starting point is 00:02:29 I'm Jack. That over there, well, that's Miles Gray. And here are some of the things that are trending on this Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday. It's Wednesday. Happy Holidays. Jack Harlow. Jack Harlow. Jack Harlow.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Always, this is a, he's, we're talking more and more about Jack Harlow, but this time, he went on Hot 97, and they were testing his like knowledge of, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:58 older music. And they're playing a track by Brandy, and he was having such a hard time identifying who the artist was. You have like Rosenberg, and you run other people being like that, giving him by Brandy. And he was having such a hard time identifying who the artist was. You have like Rosenberg and Ibram and other people giving him all these clues. And he was having a lot of difficulty figuring it out. And I'll just say that this clip made me feel very old. And you'll hear why.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Because they're playing a Brandy track. And then he asks something very indicative of his knowledge. What an amazing sex tape. Who's Ray J's sister? Of his knowledge. Amazing sex tape. See baby my love is true. Who's Ray J's sister? Oh. Wow. Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Who's Ray J's sister? It's Brandy. Brandy Norwood. Yeah. But again I get it. Look. You're young. I'm old.
Starting point is 00:03:44 And in my mind. Brandy came before Ray J even. So it's who was Brandy's brother back in my day. I mean, going to the prom with Brandy was when I was like, oh, maybe Kobe is going to be something. You know? He took Brandy to prom. Yeah. That was, uh, I was like, they must know something. Yeah, for someone who likes basketball, you got to know that's an iconic moment when kobe took brandy to the prom yeah so
Starting point is 00:04:11 have you listened to the album the jack harlow album i've i like one featured verse by him but i have not been able to get into the rest of his music but no it's on my it's on my list though okay yeah um you know i'm always threatened by somebody else with the name Jack. Yeah. Remember, we were going over, like, who's, like, the most iconic Jack athlete? Yeah, best of our name. We were playing, before we started recording the NBA podcast that comes out tomorrow, we were playing best of our name in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:04:46 I think, who did we end up with for you miles miles simon maybe like yeah if we're if we're saying only first names um miles bumley that's definitely not miles bumley um you know darius miles if we're allowing for last name for you'd be jared jack so right'd be Jarrett Jack. Right, Jarrett Jack. My wife had the Jarrett Jack jersey with the Pacers when my dad was coaching them. It said Jack and one because that was his number on the back. Yeah, see? Hit some big shots for us back in the day. Love Jarrett Jack.
Starting point is 00:05:26 shots for us uh back back in the day love jared jack um but i think i think i settled on jack sigma seven time nba all-star okay won the chip like his second year in the league and then had like one of the wildest he had the same hairdo as the superhero from greatest american hero like he had the blonde like kind of bro uh-huh during the 80s so which was like strong branding choice from jack sigma okay um jack harlow probably the best uh rapper with my name jackie robinson you know what i mean but then that's jackie yeah that's also another lane you know what i mean we don't need to we don't need to dabble in that right now jackie um yeah as far as my cousins are concerned you know the the person with the best of my name is jackie robinson but do you do you have a is there a miles from across the athletic across the world davis miles davis is the goat miles yeah that's it i just don't know what his skills were like on uh any court or field well he was a sick ass boxer he could box oh really
Starting point is 00:06:32 yeah oh yeah yeah and like you should read his his biography it's about him like putting hands on people when his deals went wrong he doesn't mention music at all it's just like nah because like later in his life with his raspy voice like and i had to smack him around and you're like oh shit wow yeah he likens boxing to jazz as brian says yes that is true very into boxing mansion joe mansion is trending yeah looks like bipartisan opposition now to the women's healthcare protection act that was he said he's not said it's an expansion not just codifying row it's expanding things and that's just too much and that's just too much so he says he would support a codification of road but says
Starting point is 00:07:18 this bill now this is it's extremist stuff yeah what and he said like when they asked it's like but you're one of these like anti-abortion democrats how do you like how do you square all this he's like well i just figure rose like the law you know that's how i look at it he's like but this but now this is too much now i didn't say people had all these other uh rights they had access to, you know, contraception, etc. But yeah, this is ongoing, obviously. Al Jazeera is trending because a correspondent Yeah, Shireen Abu-Akhle,
Starting point is 00:07:54 who's like one of their top people, was shot dead by Israeli soldiers when she was covering a story about a refugee camp. And I mean, like, everyone's like, this wasn't even near where like there were actual skirmishes. And, you know, I think, you know,
Starting point is 00:08:11 a lot of supporters of like the Israeli Defense Force were like debating whether or not that bullet was shot from that side. And now they have confirmed it is, but really aren't saying much after that. But I mean, a lot of the time when this happens, you see that the IDF will say like oh that person like planted a bullet or just try and smear people as being terrorists and that's why they were killed when many are like journalists or children um so you know it's like another well like all this like uh focus is on like you know what what nations do
Starting point is 00:08:43 good and what don't and what what's what can what the U.S. stomach or what can people stomach and what can't. It's like we're continuing to look at an apartheid state and watching countless numbers of lives being lost. But a lot of these, like in the New York Times, they'll be like, oh, there were clashes. like in the new york times they'll be like oh there were clashes and not just outright saying this this journalist who you know is an american palestinian was shot like in you know shot dead yeah while in their full press regalia and then a second journalist is in serious but stable condition after being shot on wednesday morning So, yeah, not great. And also not unheard of for the Israeli Defense Force. No.
Starting point is 00:09:32 And I think that's when some... It's just an odd thing to look at how... I think that's why many people rightfully were looking at the State Department's response to what was happening in Ukraine and then being like, you're looking at human rights violations here too right um but you know i think those those moments really uh are revealing about you know what the stakes are and what is what the u.s can stomach and other things that it feels like are just you know just got to go along with it you just got to go along with it and it's got to go along with it. And it's just a really terrible, terrible thing to just watch over and over and over again.
Starting point is 00:10:06 And then, you know, we're finding other ways to be outraged by other injustices. Yeah. StockX is trending. Nike has escalated its legal battle with Negro Marketplace. StockX saying it purchased four pairs of counterfeit shoes on the platform. Yeah. for pairs of counterfeit shoes on the platform yeah one of them was like these patent leather bread ones that you know is a is a pretty highly replete like repped replicated shoe where you know there's a huge thing where replica sneakers are showing up on stock x because they look so
Starting point is 00:10:37 similar and people are getting away with like they can buy a hundred dollar rep pair and then sell it for like two grand uh and make money like that and you know nike was like oh we're really serious about this but there's already so much speculation about what nike's role is in the reseller market if they're like backdooring pairs to like people who are reselling if you know what their manufactured scarcity around shoes to even create this like hype market so i'm i don't know where this goes but if you're someone who like looks at you know like me as an old sneakerhead be like man the game's all fucked up yeah i don't know if this changes much but it's an interesting it's it's
Starting point is 00:11:15 interesting to watch them fight yeah that's it so they like went undercover and were buying shoes from stock x basically so i don't even think they went undercover. They just probably had an employee be like, yo, bid on those, bid on those, bid on those. With the idea of capturing, getting some counterfeits that they can then bust StockX with.
Starting point is 00:11:38 That's interesting. The rep market, you know, that's I think, if anything, if the shoes are fooling stock x like i i want to see the case that they build here where they're like well if you do like dna forensic testing you can tell that like this was this part of the shoe was from this other you know how different are the counterfeit shoes um yeah and a people say a lot of the really good reps, surprise, surprise, they might be made in the same facility where the authentic
Starting point is 00:12:12 things are made. It's all fucked up and you understand why people would make reps because you're like, I can make more money with my know-how, not selling the things I do to Nike, but I can sell them to people on the internet. There you go. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back.
Starting point is 00:12:35 I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members and others whose lives and careers have been impacted just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job?
Starting point is 00:13:55 Girl, yes! Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Santer. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really
Starting point is 00:14:25 takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and
Starting point is 00:15:27 culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. This summer, the nation watched as the Republican nominee for president was
Starting point is 00:15:43 the target of two assassination attempts, separated by two months. These events were mirrored nearly 50 years ago, when President Gerald Ford faced two attempts on his life in less than three weeks. President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today. These are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president. One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson. I always felt like Lynette was kind of his right-hand woman. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI in a violent revolutionary underground.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer. This is Rip Current, available now with new episodes every Thursday. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. and we're back and i was happy to read news today that mike tyson won't face charges for punching that person who desperately needed to be punched on that flight um i don't know i think we talked about the video but this very drunk person um who was hilarious in his mind in his like friend's mind was just
Starting point is 00:17:08 intentionally like provoking Mike Tyson on a plane you're basically like hey punch me punch me come on punch me
Starting point is 00:17:17 what's wrong with you you don't want to punch me oh you're too weak to punch he was like just standing over the back of his chair and like saying shit to him and then Mike Tyson
Starting point is 00:17:24 just punched him four times. And he gave him civilian punches. Yeah, yeah. Just some bruising, some abrasion. But the guy was still awake afterwards and was making funny faces to the camera afterwards. But I don't know i the i'm happy this goes down as uh you know what however whatever the technicality was that made it so he wasn't facing charges i'm just happy that like in the court of like public opinion this goes down as a yeah that person needed
Starting point is 00:18:01 to be punched because that's crossing a line and very annoying and also i like mike tyson mountain dew purple drink uh is the fuck is that they're making lean it's called purple thunder oh okay when you said purple drink i was like wait hold on are people mixing up lean and mountain dew now i mean people have been mixing lean yeah so it is in the past but but i'll read the it's a collaboration a partnership between mountain dew and circle k convenience stores and is said to combine the mouthwatering flavors of blackberry and plum for the ultimate berry combination um the takeout reviewed it, noted exactly zero notes of blackberry, barely a whisper of plum, and said instead, I tasted what can only be described as pure purple. And that, friends, is exactly what I wanted.
Starting point is 00:18:56 It got an A, very strong A on the takeout. Right. Because you're not drinking Baja Blast because you're like, I can taste all the notes in this. You're like, it tastes like light blue tur taste all the notes in this. It tastes like light blue turned all the way fuck up. Yes, exactly. They even invoked the Baja Nest.
Starting point is 00:19:13 They invoked Baja Blast and said this might take a place alongside Baja Blast on the mantle of Mountain Dew variants. That's pretty big. I think you're exactly right, Miles. The thing about Baja Blast is that it
Starting point is 00:19:29 tastes like the color suggests it should. What that color suggests in your mind, best case scenario. If this delivers that with purple,
Starting point is 00:19:48 I think it's the whole new future this i was thinking like there aren't that many and there aren't that many circle k's in the valley i know circle k i can only think of like one or two like so is does this not exist at 7-eleven like this these are questions i need i be answered. I don't know, man. 7-Eleven's going to be pissed. Taco Bell's going to be pissed. They're going to be like, are you giving them the exclusive? Right. I mean, I can't remember the last time I was at a Circle K on purpose. No, right.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Because even if you're getting gas, the probability of you hitting a Circle K in LA is a lot different than other parts of the country. So, you know, that's where we realize we have we have work to do in the city that's right that's on us that's on us yeah all right well speaking of circle k uh circle the date of friday because kendrick's album is going to be released. Yeah. And we just got the cover art. And it is Kendrick holding a baby while his wife is on.
Starting point is 00:20:53 I think, I don't know if they have cast this photo, but the depiction is him holding a baby with a gun in his waistband and his wife nursing a younger, uneven, babier baby on the bed in a room that looks like what my room looked like when I was in my 20s. Patchy walls. He got a gun in his waist. Got a crown of thorns. Space heater. Yeah, the crown of thorns i was referencing specifically i did rock that a lot in my 20s um you know who's whose name also started with a j
Starting point is 00:21:29 that's right now hand me my now hand me my fitted crown of thorns mine was actually a uh strap a uh a snapback snapback yeah snapback you know just depending on how much you want to do and if I was feeling spicy I'd turn it backwards so you could see it was a snap back crown of thorns um this album just I don't I I'm excited come on
Starting point is 00:21:55 come on Friday it's Friday right on the 13th come on come on yeah I need this I need this Mr. Morale and the big stepper have we figured out if is it mr morale is that what we're calling it why not yeah um it's not mr morale so i think it's probably mr morale and the big steppers but either way that could be la i don't know let's let's find out please please bless my ears with the arts.
Starting point is 00:22:26 All right. Well, those are things that are trending on this May 11th. Yeah. We are back tomorrow with a whole ass episode of the show. A whole ass one. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to y' all tomorrow. Bye. Bye. the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films
