You're listening to Giraffe King's Network.
Welcome back to Gen C F B. Lucy is back
from the National Championship game.
I'm so excited to talk to her because Lucy,
it sounds like you've been up to some shenanigans
since the last time you were here, not of your own making.
I had the worst possible time.
The absolute worst experience.
I think that Washington fans had a better time at that game than I did.
Oh no, okay, let's start from the beginning.
What happened?
So let's start from the Rose Bowl.
I'm at the Rose Bowl.
I'm like, this is great.
This is beautiful.
I'm having the time in my life.
We're on the field. We see some friends who are media members.
And I'm like, you go on in the national championship?
I'm like, yeah, just waiting to get our approval
from credentials.
And he's like, oh, I already got a proof.
They're like, oh, I guess we just haven't heard back yet.
That's super weird.
I don't know what that is.
Zoynx.
And then I stayed in LA so I could spend time with my friends,
and take some time off work.
And go to Seely Dan.
And go to Seely Dan, which that was great.
That was awesome.
I got to say it probably from that,
but it was definitely worth it.
Yeah, the boomers gave you COVID for sure.
And it's absolutely, take your peg.
Wow.
A thousand times over would do that.
And so I'm sitting there with my friends,
and I'm like, I can't believe we haven't heard
anything back yet, this is so annoying.
So I'm talking, my off week to the people who,
the person who is in charge of handling
the credential situation, and I'm like,
hey, heavy, you heard anything back,
have you heard anything back?
You heard it?
No. I said, fine, I'm just gonna take matters
into my own hand, give me the phone number,
give me the contact info for who,
like the credential person is.
I call them, this is like Thursday and the National Trade
Reaching is Monday and I have a flight from L.A. to Houston.
I'm like, am I gonna be stranded in Houston?
The credential application that I did not submit
but that someone submitted was for the FCS National
Championship.
Oh no.
It was a stinker between South Dakota State and Montana.
We did not, we did not apply to the CSP.
Oh no.
FBS national championship.
Oh boy.
So I was like, well, this was a bad mistake.
So the FCS national championship wasn't Frisco, I believe. Yes. Did you ever consider
maybe I'll just drive from Houston to Frisco and go to that game? We never heard back from the FCS.
Oh, okay. So Metal Arc Media applied for the FCS championship. Didn't get approved. I did not
apply, but in that clear. Yes. We'll say that metal are nebulously because we don't want to throw anyone out of the bus. We're
all a team here. But someone made a dire mistake and also didn't get approved
for the other national championship game that you maybe could have gone to. I
know Roger Sherman was there. Road Roger, I guess, has been going every game
this year. But you couldn't even go to that one? No, and then it started this sort of domino effect of things,
so I'm sitting in LA Thursday.
Am I flying to Houston on Sunday?
I don't know. My flight says yes.
So I'll probably want to figure that out.
I hear last minute, I believe Friday,
that they're like, we're going to send you to the game.
We're going to buy you a ticket.
That was a very expensive ticket,
and I very much appreciate the company deciding to do that
So we fly to Houston. I'm on my flight there and I sit next to a kid on the plane in a conversation It's t-shirt that threw up the whole time
Like projectile vomit. Oh really unpleasant barf bag not the barf bag what just on his last shot the back of the box
So it was him in the window. Thank God there wasn't right next to him,
but his dad in between us and they were
like matching like Michigan outfits.
And then me and his dad kept having to get up
and I'm like, brother, what is it?
Like are you, do you have to pee?
Are you okay?
And there was some guy who was like
sitting next to me like on the other side.
I was like staring and I was like getting annoyed.
I was like, why is this guy looking at me?
He was not looking at me.
He was looking at puke kid.
Oh, grossed it. They were smell. Yes, because I was like, why is this guy looking at me? He was not looking at me. He was looking at puke kid. Oh, grossed it.
So they were smell.
Yes, because I was like, what is that?
It smelled and it was all over like the side of the window
and the back of the seat.
I don't know if they ever told us.
Oh, that's so gross.
Sitting in front of them.
They probably have vomit in their hair.
I wish, hope they gave them a heads up
and they used, he went and got,
the dad went and got like a bag from the bathroom
or paper towels.
And was he like sick, like, did a food poisoning,
and do you know?
I have no idea.
Just was throwing up all over.
Yes.
And then, so they used the little beverage napkins
to clean it up.
Those are so small.
They were so small.
And they were so gross.
And they were just like raw dog in it.
No glove.
Oh.
And they, and I just kept having to get up
so they could go get more
napkins and come back.
Not my first time I've sat next to somebody on a plane that's pupped the whole way too.
Really?
Yeah.
Bad luck.
She's on.
I'm raised.
Yeah.
Rough, rough travel.
My flight to Vegas.
I hope we're not.
We're, let's not part.
I'll be the one puke.
So we went, so then we landed Houston.
I'm like, this is, this is, or in Dallas,
cause I had to connect.
They were on my flight and I sat behind them this time
and I was like, oh thank God.
And so we're waiting in the Dallas airport
and I have a connecting flight.
And then I get a text from our photographer Rose
that the hotel that we have booked does not exist
in close four years ago.
Oh, so she has been stuck in Houston for several hours with nowhere to go.
We don't have a hotel.
Once again, Domino effect because we weren't able to book any travel.
And so then I went and I got a donut because I was like, this has been the most stressful
day.
I want a sweet treat.
I want to reward myself and go sit.
I eat my donut.
I'm happy.
And then someone tweets at me a Reddit post about me eating the donut and everything I ordered and like
their thoughts on me ordering a donut at noon and I was like, why can't I just come up and say hi, please?
I'm so like it made me so uncomfortable. I was like, I just wanted to eat my donut and peace because I was having a rough day and now
Wow, and now it's internet content. That's not normal. Yeah then we go, we finally get a hotel, a nice hotel.
Thank you to Kristen, who works here,
who is so helpful and helped us fix all of it.
And then, I'm like getting ready for the game
and I open up my American Airlines app.
I said, ooh, I do not have a return flight home.
I do not have a flight home
and the flight that I originally wrote.
I was all booked up.
So I had to take the 5 a.m. flight out of there.
So I got about three hours of sleep the day of the National
Championship, which I woke up feeling sick that day.
So I was like, this is really, this is super, super awesome.
And then we go to the game and we don't have any access because
we didn't get credentials and all the tailgating areas were
ticketed.
So there was not a single tailgate happening outside of the ticketed area.
So we were not able to get any content,
and we said, don't worry, we will film it
after the game, go experience the game.
I was rooting for Washington.
That went poor.
I didn't enjoy that.
At that point, you probably just knew Michigan's death.
Yeah, I was like, that's what's happening.
This is like a trifecta of shit.
So then we go, Rose meets me outside of the stadium
because she just like walks back to the hotel.
I'm like, watch the game.
She just didn't even go to the game.
Yeah, she couldn't go.
Oh my God.
So we were gonna do interviews and then it was a tornado watch
and I was holding up a umbrella and I said,
ooh, this is gonna be really tough.
I will get struck by lightning if we do this.
There was a point where there was hail.
And we were like, yeah, you know what?
This is not worth it.
So we walk back to the hotel.
Fortunately, the severe weather had kind of subsided.
It was still gross, but there's no irrigation in Houston.
So all the sidewalks were covered in mud,
and I ruined my shoes.
And then I got sick.
Oh, Lucy, it was sad that they told you're coming back.
It was an end. It was the worst.
Taylor, why did you apply to the wrong national champion show?
Not me, not me.
Hands clear.
I might have saw the person who applied for the wrong credential, realized that they applied
for the wrong credential.
And I was looking at the screen and I was like, that's the FCS logo.
Oh no Taylor!
Was this when it was already too late.
Okay, I was thinking.
The damage, the damage.
It was like why?
Well, you're like the Walter White meme in the car.
You're like, you're applying to the wrong national
championship game, no!
It is the worst.
Yeah, the sun's tear.
I mean, I'll laugh this side.
That f**king saw.
Oh, it was holy sh**.
The funniest strip we've been on by far the worst I was like this is this is terrible
Oh, man Lucy. I'm so sorry, so you watched the game in the stands by yourself in your Washington gear
Yes as Washington proceeded to have their worst offensive game of the season Michael Penex had a
Statistical worst game of the season and Michigan Penex had a statistical worst game of the season.
And Michigan, one of your big 10 foes won their first national championships.
And I believe 1997.
Yep. And sat in the confetti as everyone said congratulations to you.
Yeah, I will say God bless. Great seats. Thank you. The seats were amazing.
Kind of feel like I earned it and deserved it
But great. Yeah, you should be like first row 50 yard line after all that crap
We talked a little bit on this main show earlier this week about my
Distain for Michigan fans. It's from traumatic experiences. It's valid and during the first quarter when Washington was at their worst
This Michigan fan who was sitting in front of me,
kept turning around and not saying it to me, thank God,
but talking to the people next to me,
trying to explain to them how to handle the loss.
He was like, you should really just try to be grateful
for your season and remember that you got here.
And just I, you know, I had to sit through that
Michigan loss to Georgia.
It's like the first quarter and I'm like, shut up.
Oh my God. It was, and
the Washington fan to he was talking to, he never said any of this to me. And I also didn't
go to Washington. I didn't really care that much, but yeah. I was like, you guys are much
braver than me because if he had said that to me, if Iowa had been playing this game and
he had said that to me, security would have taken me out. Like I was, it was so, and then
it was funny to watch him like get a little progressively more tense as the game just sort of like felt like it was kind of
swinging Washington quarter. I was like maybe we'll just show yeah, there was a
shot and then that really long pass got called back. Yeah, hold on. I was like
all right game over. We're done. It's wrap it up. It's over. Yeah, it was a it was not a fun experience, but I think it's probably helpful because I usually go through like, oh, I'm sad, college football season's over.
I don't want anything to do with what happened to me.
I'm really happy for the break.
You know, I preferred being stuck over what happened in Houston.
Oh, man.
Brutal.
Lucy, I'm sorry.
Yeah.
It's the origin of my villain story.
Yeah, I mean, it sounds like you were joker fired after that game.
Were the Husky fans like walking, walking out of the stadium,
did they feel really sad, too?
They were sad.
They clearly hadn't been through what I had been through.
Surprisingly, like, after the game,
the fans were, like, very chill.
They were not as crazy as I think they would have been.
Like, had it been Iowa,
I would have been running in the streets,
I would have lost my mind. I would have been arrested in the streets, I would have lost my mind.
I would have been arrested in five seconds.
Absolutely.
It was very chill, which I was surprised by.
I think it was partially the weather,
but there was literally even a point where a Michigan fan
is like we're walking in the crowd leaving the stadium.
It's like, why is nobody yelling anything?
Like go blue!
And try to do the like, who's got it better than us?
That's a stupid chance they do.
Stop it.
No one, no one responded. What was the toilet? who's got it better than us? But it's stupid chance they do. Stop it.
No one, the worst part, dude.
We were so glad, dude.
Well, did you see that video?
I wonder also if it's like a,
because you mentioned that the Ohio State game,
the crowd was a lot more.
Yeah, they were way more crazy.
I mean, there's probably way more students at that game.
And also, like, when you're playing at a neutral site
and it costs X amount of money,
or at least 20.
Any fan to attend, you're probably gonna get neutral site and it costs X amount of money, so for a money. Any fan to attend,
you're probably gonna get just like a less rowdy crowd,
which is one of the things
that about the National Championship game
that stinks,
because like obviously you wanna play it at a neutral site,
but a lot of these NFL stadiums
then like lend themselves to like not a great tailgating scene,
not really a great like college football atmosphere.
So I wonder if you felt that way.
It was a weird host.
I think something that really stood out to me was like,
it just felt very like not planned efficiently.
Apparently like the roof was leaking.
I saw that.
There was.
They set off like pyrotechnics,
like little like fireworks after the national anthem,
but it wasn't ventilated.
So it was just hazy mokey.
I rest of the game.
Absolutely.
It was just like not.
It was just a reminder of like, I know there's a big argument
about going, like going on about whether the national championship be at the Rose Bowl
or not.
I don't necessarily know how I feel about it, but like the atmosphere at the Rose Bowl was
10 million times better than the atmosphere at the national championship game.
Also, it wasn't better game, but like, yeah, it was just like the vibes were like a little
off and also it's important to note, I was having the worst time.
So my vibes were like a little off and also it's important to note I was having the worst time so my Vibes were really off

Don Lebertard!
All of us who were watching College Football elevated everything the weekend was because
we missed football in general so very much.
You didn't watch the ending of UTEP Jacksonville State.
It was awesome!
A dizzy bum.
Mm-hmm.
Stugats.
It's such a lame for you.
Just everything in college football is awesome.

Presented by DraftKings fans to sports, check out what DraftKings has to offer this season with code Dan.

of the fun that was had this year for them.
The NCAA will open that chapter.
We'll temporarily close and revisit it in three years when it gets vacated.
LOL.
This week has been bananas news-wise.
We're recording this on Thursday.
Nick Saban retired, coaching Carousel in full swing Taylor.
You can have the music in post.
But what do you make of all of the big changes this week
in College Football and C?
Obviously the Nick Saban thing is something we'll feel
in College Football for the rest of time.
I think you said it really well earlier.
It wasn't that surprising.
We have heard rumors that it was going to be Nick Sabin's last
year for a while.
I think his daughter said something about it being his last
year.
So it was just it kind of felt out of the blue, but also felt
appropriate.
You always sort of felt like he was going to go out on top.
He was going to win the national championship and then retire.
But like happy for him that he's like, you know what?
I've done what I've needed to do.
This could be his most impressive coaching job ever because that was probably his
worst salabam team.
We've seen it a very long time and they still made the playoffs.
I love that.
They made the playoff and they were one possession away from winning that.
I love most of all that the people making fun of Coach K.
Like I love, we've brought it back to making,
Taylor, I know you love this.
Everyone's like, wait, you mean you don't have to do
a year-long retirement tour?
Coach K was shocked when he found it.
It's saving right out, gracefully.
I love it.
Sabin was just like, so it's Wednesday and I'm done.
Yeah.
That was it.
He's a legend.
But there's going to be a lot of follow-up from this,
I think, because we don't know who will be the next coach yet.
And by the time you listen to this, you might know.
So, sorry, bear with us.
Fast forward.
But I'm wondering what you think the funniest or most crazy outcome
could be, because I have a couple contenders.
But I want to hear yours first.
I think the funniest one that I think is like semi-realistic
is Mike Norval at Florida State.
He has a very low buyout.
I think it's funny from the perspective
of he spent this whole off season upset about opt-outs.
Now he's opting out on Florida State as well.
That is, seems like funniest case scenario to me.
Names I've seen floated around that I think are funny
is James Franklin.
That seems like a wild hire.
I don't think that Alabama's going to make a bad hire
because Nick Sabin is like choosing that.
Yeah, so I'm not too worried about it,
but Mike Norbell I think is funny.
James Franklin would be hysterically bad.
I love every time there's any high profile opening
and like Pete Thammell or Bruce Feldman or whoever,
the insider is will
tweet out a list and James Franklin's always on it and you're like, man, dude, this Franklin,
that would be something else.
But yeah, I'm with you.
I think like from the standpoint of like the last time I think we did this show was right
before the board of trustee meetings that Florida state had, there's a lot of stuff going
on.
It sounds like behind the scenes there.
So I would not like blame a head coach for wanting to just like not be a lot of stuff going on. It sounds like behind the scenes there. So I would not like blame
a head coach for wanting to just like not be a part of all of that because it sounds like it's
going to get very messy and lowly and not to say that like if you're the head coach of the football
team there, you're really involved. But it still is going to be probably a pretty big distraction
going forward. And I also think that if Florida State has a vacancy, I mean, you know who the rumor will be.
True or not, to fill that vacancy.
It's, I think I'm, that would, I would be so curious to see
if Mike Norval does leave.
Not even if Deon goes to Florida State,
but how Deon reacts and how Florida State fans reacts.
Taylor and I went to the first game of the year,
or first game of the year was FSU, LSU, and it was a very like we love D on so much or never say that name to me again.
Yes, such a weird relationship with Florida State now. I think you would still go, but it wouldn't
be without like a dramatic flair naturally. Well, I'm intrigued to see what happens. I'm also
I'm wondering now that that Sabin has retired.
There was the first wave of coaches being filled
in December where many Diaz got the Duke job
and Mike Elko got the Texas A&M job.
And now that all of this domino effect's gonna restart again.
So I wonder what will happen to guys
that have just committed somewhere.
And if they're gonna to be like kicking themselves
that they didn't wait a little bit longer in the cycle,
it's just, it's so fascinating.
And I think it's one of the interesting things
about the way the season ends and the calendar works
that you get like an entire month.
And this has kind of turned into like college footballs
equivalent to like NBA free agency stuff,
which like is not my favorite part of the game.
I prefer to just like watch football games
than to talk about all of this, but I do think it's kind of funny and it's very interesting. Like,
watching Alabama fans chant, anyone but dabbo was something I was not expecting this week.
I'm like waiting for a moment where like Bobby Patrino did what where he went to UNLV for like three
weeks and then A&M called and he was like, I'll see you later Las Vegas. We were never going to
work out anyways. This was not going to be a good fit do you have the video
Taylor let's play the video of the of the bamal fans I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! I'm terrible! He's still alive. He is so alive, still alive. Like what?
What?
And that's a lot of like food and like drink that they've wasted.
Like, you're all these Coke bottles.
Like, I would just take one.
Yeah, I would just take it.
Oh man, it reminds me of that truly vile tweet that you sent me.
I mean, if you're listening to this, you know which one.
You know who won't repeat it.
It's funny.
The dabble sweetie of it all is fascinating though,
because this is one of those things that like,
if this were two years ago, I feel like he's a no brainer
because he went to Alabama, coached Alabama,
loves Alabama, won two national championships,
beat Nick Sabin a few times, blew the crap out of Alabama
and the national championship game.
But now it feels like he's, I haven't even
heard his name really rumored the way a few other guys have been.
No, it's really weird, like just two years ago, like exactly, it would have been a perfect fit
because it was always the question for Dabo was never, is Dabo going to leave and go somewhere else?
It's, if the Alabama job becomes available, will dabble go and take that job because they've
always kind of been synonymous with each other. We haven't really heard much from dabble this
year outside of Tyler from Spartanburg being like, I don't even want you anyways. Yesterday
was a huge day for him. He's like, he's going to be gone. I don't see it working out because
I don't think it's a bad hire by any means, but it just feels like Davos sort of passed his prime.
I don't know why at this point,
you would be able to win more at Alabama
than you can at Clemson.
You're still bringing the talent you were.
It's just some things a little off.
I'm not saying that Davos is a bad coach by any means,
but I think the days of national championships
are probably over.
Wow.
I mean, I still believe in Davo
if he changes a few of the things about him
that have, you know, the more stubborn things, like the not having any players in the portal
thing, like that's tough. Like he's still recruiting really well. Like I still think he's a good
coach, but there's just a lot of things. I mean, also some of the things he says, yeah, you
have to change his whole person. Yeah, right. Yeah. That's true. That's tough to do. Anywho,
we only have a few minutes left Lucy, but I wanted to run a few things by you because we want to make like a
very comprehensive top five list of best things from the season, but
I don't know. I have a list here and I think we should talk about a few of them and then maybe make like an official list. Yes. Next week or something.
Absolutely. We're going to keep doing this in the off season, right?
Can I, and I enter a late, I couldn't get that out.
Could I enter a late submission?
Oh, yes.
Roma Dunezay joining the Morgan Twitter Space's chat while they were freaking out over
Dan Lening leaving to Alabama and him being like, you need to calm down or I'm going to
come back for another year and ruin your lives.
That was really funny.
That was awesome.
But does that technically count as like 2024?
Ooh, that's a good point.
I don't know.
That is a good point.
This is what I have so far.
And like maybe this one's recency bias,
but the Pop Star Bowl mascot.
Yeah, absolutely.
He's the number one.
What are we doing?
I don't know about number one.
See, this could get contentious.
I love the way this is heading.
I love the Pop Dark guy.
So we agree he's definitely top five.
Absolutely, top five culture moments outside of sports
this year as well.
I agree.
I mean, it definitely, like, it broke out
of just college football people.
I don't think anyone will remember
who played in that game in like a month.
I mean, they don't remember it.
They don't even remember it.
Yeah, right. So okay, we don't remember that. They don't even remember. Yeah, right.
So, okay, we'll put Pop Dark Ball on there.
This one feels like obvious, low-hanging fruit.
Like, I'm sorry, Mike, if you're listening to this.
But the Miami-Jord attack ending,
I feel like we have to, like, that one has to be
on the top five list too.
We've really forgot about that for a second.
Every time you bring them back up,
it's like joy into my life.
It I think had like a impact on college football coaches
in a way that like maybe we didn't see coming
like everyone saw it and everyone watched it happen.
I we were putting that on the list.
Yeah, I was like, is it this before or after
the pop-tarp ball because it's tough.
It's really tough.
I feel like it means more to us
because we were here when it happened.
You know?
Oh my God.
No, that's high up there.
But I think the PopTarp ball was a bigger moment
in just the sport where that was,
if we're doing like biggest moments
than PopTarp ball one, but if we're doing like biggest moments, then pop chart will
want to be funniest.
I don't know how we top that.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, if we're doing biggest moments, then I don't know what we do with Deon Sanders because
that feels like something also that broke out of just the college football world, those
first three weeks where they were three in a beat Colorado stain over time.
A bajillion people watched that game came from there like 10 million people watched that
game was on it like two in the morning.
They beat TCU in the first game of the season
after TCU had just been in the national championship game.
Like it was a big, big moment in college football,
but I don't know where we ranked that.
I think if we want to rank something specific,
we could do the Stanford game where they
were 29 point lead and I left.
So we could do that one.
Okay.
Well, the last one I had in here, sorry Taylor,
the CW curse.
Oh, tough.
I had that on my list.
I had that on my list.
6 and O rank number 10 you and C losing has 24 and a half point
favorite.
No.
Then we have to add Brian Perrin's drive to 325.
Yeah.
He didn't make it. He didn't make it. He got cut short
But he also wasn't gonna make it if it didn't get much like Lucy's trip to the national championship
He did not quite make it there. God. I wish our idiot just fired me before you a bad
That joke didn't come out the way I wanted it. We do it. That's all right
Don Lebertard. I actually thought you looked kind of good.
Stu got. Thank you. I have the Beards grown out a little bit. I got a little life in my face.
I feel like little 10 Colorado San Francisco. Great time. You get life on your face.
You got death on your face. I think you've got 40 to life on your face.
I think you've got 40 to life on your face. This is the down lebertar show with this two-gats.
All right, to kick off talking about Black Monday, we're going to start with the Jamest
Winston play because I do feel like
the way that James Winston ended the game on Sunday directly contributed to at least one coach
losing their job. So if you don't know what happened, James Winston was putting the game
in the back up quarterback in a game where the New Orleans Saints were winning 41 to 17 and he
was asked to get in a victory formation and nail it out.
James famously said that the team in the Huttler decided that no, they were going to give
the ball to Jamal Murk, which Jamal Williams to ensure that he got his, you know, first
and only touchdown of the season. Saints players were happy. Dennis Allen was not. He went
to go shake hands with then Falcons head coach Arthur Smith. Arthur Smith
had a bunch of choice words for him that started with the letter F and rhymed with all Smith
and, you know, James Winston came out apologize to Dennis Allen. He said that, you know, it was
a team decision. Team decision that the head coach was not a part of apparently. And then,
you know, everyone had different opinions.
Joe even Shannon Sharp called for James Winston to be cut immediately because he was not listening
to the request of the head coach.
Joe, I have a feeling I know what your take is going to be, but as an offensive line coach
for the Munich Ravens, uh, how would you handle a situation like this?
Is he a captain on this team?
Does he really believe that he is still a captain?
Because I feel like as much as I enjoy James, because he's great content, he always comes
up with some interesting stuff, I feel like he's pretty convinced that he's still like
the captain of the ship.
Thank you.
And he's not ready to relinquish that role or that mentality.
And so when he says, yes, the team decision, like I'm pretty convinced that he is definitely
in his mind, like the leader in that locker room still.
All right.
No question.
I mean, James has main character energy every time, which is why you love him.
And I think also his teammates love him and they backed him up.
If you watch the play, everybody was in on like, yeah, we're getting to do a touchdown.
We don't care what the coach says. So is that more indicative on Jamest Winston
or is that more indicative of what they feel
about the Saints head coach, Juju?
Right.
I think whatever indicative is within a without,
I think if you don't want to just go this touchdown,
stop it from scrolling down, touchdown.
Don't come out here giving me the unreal rules.
You said, bro, you are rivaled.
The Falcons and the Saints been rivals.
We scored a touchdown and got y'all coached fire.
Son his ass home and with the Falcons.
I would love to say that as you view my rival.
So salute the Jammys Winston.
Yeah, it wasn't dickative though.
Yeah, I think Jammys should probably get both coaches fired.
And that would be, that would make Jammys even more the go.
If he got his coach fired and the other coach fired.
And I was with you, I'm kind of like, I didn't see the play before I saw the controversy
around it.
And I was like, yo, stop it, Mrs. Football.
I don't subscribe to the whole unwritten rules, mercy like, yo, we're getting paid out
here.
Every play matters to somebody.
And then I saw the play.
And they absolutely lined up
in a victory formation as if they were going to nail it out on the one.
I can be in her swivel, but turned around and handed it off.
I would, I would have respected it more if James was like, yo, just getting the regular
formation.
Show them we're going to run a play so that the defense can adjust accordingly.
It was absolutely a dirty move, but I don't think that was James's intention. I think it was better this way. I was better than more of a
big reformation running through there. James might be a little bit of a lunatic, but he's
my kind of lunatic. That's what I feel about it, Joe.
You got to look, James, because this just plays perfectly into his brand and his personality.
Like, he's so delusually, he doesn't realize that if they line up in victory formation
and on a plate, that's offensive on every every level no matter who they're playing no matter
what the situation is like you told them we've given up the game is over we don't want anybody to
get hurt. I think they handed off to your running back and try to score and then be excited about
I'm saying I was team decision like that's why we love James Winston because it doesn't make
sense to any human being that has any common sense has played to any level of football. But the James that makes perfect sense.
NLC playing a lead.
Rob.
I will play collar in a week and everything. I think James Winston's highlight tape
outside of playing football is going to be better than his actual out. And not because
he doesn't make plays. James is a really good quarterback. That's the other thing that Jemis is actually like underappreciated for his actual abilities.
Right.
Now he's a really good talented quarterback,
but you see why all these other things have held him back
because there is some decision making
when he was coming out of college
and they were talking about the crab legs.
And I'm like, I don't trust him on a field
because typically in my experience,
how you approach life is how you approach football.
So if you're a bad decision maker off the field,
you're probably gonna be a bad decision maker on a field.
And I'll be damned if that might not have been
my best take on Earth because this was a bad decision.
And it was a badly executed decision,
even if you make the decision,
it's a lot of invictory formation and then score.
I don't, I hope people realize how wild that is, Juju.
Yeah, Brad, knowing James, how we know James now, don't make you see that Florida state
crab blade situation.
It's a slightly different.
He probably walked out like, not the person.
He really thought it was okay.
Knowing what I know now about James. That is the perfect point,
dude. We need to revisit that entire scandal because even this situation, I don't feel like anybody's
really mad, except Shanna Sharp. I loveunk, but he's the only one who takes this like seriously.
Because it's like, oh, that's James being James. His teammates think that I'm the Falcons. I'm sure are like, hey, man
That's what you get when you sign up with James
Hey, that crab leg situation. Yeah, you're right. We need to we need to do a revisionist history lesson
Because I need to see the security camera because I could promise you the way that everyone saw it was not the way it was playing in
James not at all not even a second of it. All right.
So our other Smith gets fired.
And there's a lot of conversation around a lot of coaches,
a lot of teams.
Josh McDangles was out this year.
Frank Reich, Brandon Staley, at the taping of this podcast,
we don't know what's going on with Bill Bella check yet.
It feels like there's going to be a parting of ways
between he and the Patriots.
And I think it could make sense. Joe, from where you sit at this moment, do you think the
patriots should a move on from Bill Belichek? And if so, when is Bill Belichek's next move?
I think it's a difficult decision for everybody, but it's the right time to do it anonymously.
I think Bill Belichek has made those co-blooded decisions. He says, entire career is everybody
going back to Richard Seymour to when they've split with Tom Brady that
he's actually expecting it because he knows that he's beyond his time there and that his
message is being lost on the boys there in New England.
And the fact that they have such a high draft pick and they can replace
their quarterback right now, Mac Jones, with whoever they want in the draft and kind of start over.
It's a good reset for everybody. And I think Bill would probably appreciate the fact that he's
going to get the axe in a cold blooded way, the way he's given it to so many other players that
his career. And he'll probably find a pretty good landing spot because there's going to be several
teams. I'm not going to say a lot because I do think there's plenty of owners who think kind of like
I've been saying that, you know, maybe the billbell check days at the NFL have passed them a little bit
because it's a ability to connect the players maybe isn't there the way it used to be when
he could just turn, you know, turn the lights off and torture them into reading their play
books. I'm showing up to practice on time. And you got to kind of change your approach
a little bit, but there's still few owners out there. And I think there's teams that are stacked, namely the LA chargers
that have a great quarterback that would gladly sign Nobel check or make some type of minimal
trade to be able to get them. I love that. Live by the gun you die by the gun take when
it comes to good better. Second always every gangster movie you've ever seen, right? You
see the biggest time and go out the way that they lived their life.
Rob McGrath with a tear coming out of the house.
I am my brother's people.
Yes, man.
It happens every time.
I love that.
That is a great take from Joe.
I love the thing I love about the Tomahawk show
in this current iteration is I can take Joe's takes
that he gives me on Monday,
go throughout the rest of the week on ESPN
and just spit them like they're.
There was a time when this was reversed and Joe was on like Thursday night football and
I was giving great take.
He would just go take him and put him on national TV.
This is why it's a brotherhood here.
No, this is what can't we talk about, brother?
This is a stage in the chain of dead.
This can't we?
And this is not right.
I still take.
Don't be still in, bro.
No, I still take Joe knows I still takes
We share takes man. I give him some text. He gives me some takes, you know, a fresh day
You know it keeps us afloat. Yes, at least I'll link a hoops
We're good to be in a kind of tapes or something exactly exactly. You're talking to your Joe breaking down receiver film
Trust me that that came from me 1000% he's text me on the side and if I'm ever talking about offensive line play
It's 1000% something that Joe said to me. Nice. And I'm on there acting like I'm an expert.
All right. In the coaching carousel, there will also be another name that will probably
be inserted. And that is that of Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh playing the national championship
at this moment. I think he played in the national championship by the time this airs.
Yeah. Congratulations, by the way. Congratulationss. Yeah. Congratulations by the way.
Congratulations, Jim Harbaugh on the big time victory against Washington.
Joe, does Jim Harbaugh leave college and go to the NFL?
I don't think he does.
Honestly, I think he really likes where he is that Michigan.
And I think he realizes that he's got enough self awareness that he doesn't, he's not
normal enough to be able to give along with an owner in the NFL
for longer than just a few years.
And I think the comfort that he's built himself at his alma mater allows him a great
level of freedom to be weird and quirky and then the rules as much as he possibly can
in Michigan, and he's going to be forever forgiven.
So I don't think he really wants to leave, and I think he's getting paid plenty of money,
and I don't think he's searching for that next challenge, even though a lot of people are going to say, he's going to want
to be able to do it at the NFL level. Like I think he just loves football and he wants to win.
And he doesn't care if it's P.W. football, it doesn't care if it's the L.F. Lee coach
and Andrew Hawkins over here and meet or if it's at Michigan in college football in the
Big 10.
Yeah, I think I disagree. I think I disagree. I do believe he's quirky. I do
believe he just genuinely loves football. But I do think he has that kind of personality, like the
dad and Taladega Knights, where if everything, if you're in a spot for too long and it's going too good,
you got to move on. I feel like he's reached that point with Michigan. You know, he played there,
he came back to bring him back to national prominence. Clearly, he's done that job.
I think he wants to get back to the NFL when the Super Bowl that escaped him because
he lost his brother in the big game.
They are a football family.
His dad was a coach and I read this in his Wikipedia, six or seven years while he was
playing in the NFL.
He was a volunteer unpaid coach with Western Kentucky, which was a one double
eight team. His dad was a head coach up and he would recruit. He would coach throughout
the whole off season. And he had the same salary that Joe has right now with the Munich
Ravens because he just loved football. And he, you know, he wanted to be around it, which
is why he's so successful. I think he is going to be the most coveted person in this NFL
cycle. I think he's going to get one of those jobs. Specifically, I could see the Los Angeles
Chargers making the most sense. And him going to try to win a Super Bowl, Joe.
You mentioned unpaid and you said we had the same salary. That could have been not true because
it was paying to be coached in the Munich Ravens. Well, he was doing it for free at Western Kentucky.
So does that mean that I love football more than Jim Harpball?
You might.
It does.
I think it does because you also with the Germany because I don't.
I love football.
I'm not moving to Germany.
All right.
Moody's family to Germany.
I don't know.
What's what's worse for the Hawkins family?
Western Kentucky or Germany?
I feel like you might be more welcome
At the damn good point and I don't know. I don't think I'd be welcome in either spot. I'll go to Atlanta
All right, we're gonna take a quick break. We come back. We're gonna get into a little bit of am I tripping and the NFL playoffs
tripping in the NFL playoffs.
