Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Giraffe King's Network. Your business has grown fast, from opening your first location to planning an expansion in no time. And with your business platinum card from American Express, you can access spending power power, and payment flexibility to fuel your growth. Sarah, the contractor's here with the plans.
Starting point is 00:00:31 American Express, don't do business without it. Terms and conditions apply as it mx.ca slash business platinum. This is the Dunlabel Tarsh show with this Tugat's podcast. We will go to the God forsaken bucket of death and a second Brad Williams is going to the bucket of death with us. Dujus go into the bucket of death. What are you making faces about Chris? I can hear the lunch deep down in there.
Starting point is 00:01:01 It's not as bad as a couple weeks ago, but it's... You can hear my lunch down there. The first word you said there, I could just hear... I know your voice well, though, so I'm out on the... Okay, the comment photo would do it. I did, let me explain some things to the people because things are moving very fast around here and I did just shovel five pieces of totally plain,
Starting point is 00:01:20 tiny chicken in my throat like a pelican. Like a pelican. I threw it in very fast, but it's because, and I need to full disclosure here for the audience and everyone here, Lucy, you're new to the gathering. Jude, this might explain some things to you that you have experienced over the last few months, okay? Mike Ryan is on a manic freight train to hell,
Starting point is 00:01:43 and it's a great blessing when we ride his executive producer craziness into the sky to soaring ratings and heights. But Mike Ryan wanted to be out of this job, a Chris Whittingham ago. A Chris Whittingham career ago. And so he is riding the gas on our show. He's throwing right now potato chips into his face because there's no time to eat around here on breakfast because we are just moving i do have chicken for breakfast i have chicken and vegetables for breakfast i it's dreadfully boring i i i i hate that it's so
Starting point is 00:02:18 planted and right my job closing the pot the ploddle in our local hour there krift kody no one remembers that you said lunch earlier. Mike Ryan is on a crazy train. It's a crazy train. It's, it is snowpiercer. Brightlin. Off the rails. No, Brightlin kills people.
Starting point is 00:02:34 We're not there yet. Crazy. No, this one's on a bunch of rails. Snowpiercer eats people. It's a cocaine joke. It's full of alert. We'll go to the bucket of death in a second. I owe many penalties.
Starting point is 00:02:45 I've seen them. There's a Flintstone costume out there. There's a F1 helmet that's way too heavy. He's so bad at this. All you have to do is know all the service academies, football scatron. The F1 thing is just for him. The problem with what's happening around here
Starting point is 00:02:59 is several people are cheating. And I'm the one who's going to end up paying the most of the penalties. Yeah. She's cheating. Well, I don't know if Lucy's cheating. Tony's certainly cheating. Yes, he's not cheating. She had to go to Hellman of Life.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Well, the Golden Hellman of Life is something that shouldn't be there for multiple people at the same time, but like four people have had it at the same time. And I did some sifton through the bucket and I found that my theory that someone a year ago just Took out the black helmet of death. Oh, it is true Someone just decided to chuck it and that's why no one is picked from it I also have an emission you know me I came in today fully ready to prepare for myself I had a Elvis Presley costume they gave it to me and I put it on and there was a lot of stuff swinging
Starting point is 00:03:45 And I don't think we y'all wanted to see so that we got to get a bigger size costume for the kid and then We'll pay some of these debts off as someone who is sitting right next to you. I appreciate that Yours could have just shot you from the way stuff They could have done that. It's Elvis raining into this problem. I'm just saying it was also a zip up That didn't zip all the way It was hey, I've been in the gym the Jersey you're presently Wearing why are you wearing it backward is it so that we know that it's a there is slaves Jersey? Yes, my third cousin by the way, but I was coming in here and somebody was like I was that Wilson
Starting point is 00:04:18 And I was like, I'm just a bitch So I turned it around and make sure that everybody know that. No, thank you. Chris Cody, I was surprised to hear from the group that your daughter has been a bigger hit around here today than Jessica's dog Willow, that your daughter, a human being has been a well-behaved human being and bring your daughter to work day. She doesn't shit everywhere, that's why.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Number one. But everyone was very happy to have her round and a bunch of people here with kids were I think a little bit surprised that she is not restless and behaving poorly. Well, she has gotten comfortable in the last hour. The first couple hours, she was an angel. Now she's getting a little comfortable. She's chasing Lucy around with a fake snake.
Starting point is 00:05:04 But overall, yes, I agree. She's chasing Lucy around with a fake snake, but overall yes I agree. She's been good today. How did this end up happening? Why? Because the Howard schools are closed and I was you know I didn't want to do the thing where it's like I can't come in so I was like I'm bringing her in She's not sick right now usually she's sick. We got like a week where she's not sick So I was like I'm bringing her in I Want to ask the group a question about people working from home because I saw something on CNN the other day where they were saying that by
Starting point is 00:05:28 2030 800 billion dollars will leave the global economy Because something that I'm seeing whenever I travel which is good. God. There's a lot of office space out there that is closed These were vibrant businesses, but this feels a little bit like zombie apocalypse stuff when you start taking out the economies in a bunch of cities because everybody's working from home. And when I heard the number $800 billion globally, I'm like, wow, the pandemic really sort of shifted
Starting point is 00:05:58 what the human relationship with work is, which is fairly startling, thing to learn, right? I don't know how many of us had thought of it beforehand But what was brought home during the pandemic is that most people want to be working at home And want to have a different relationship with work and culturally young people are not gonna have the relationship with work that their parents and their grandparents Had with work especially if you create more halves and have not, where it's not worth it to go to work. Where getting inside of your machine is not worth it, I'd rather have a job that can pay me from home than having to do something that requires me to go to an office.
Starting point is 00:06:36 And it just got me to thinking this new, it's, oh, lazy. The young generation is. Yes. I did not get to thinking that that's where you were headed, right? No, young people change everything Hmm and young people get to decide what the future of popular things are a hell in a hand basket done and This seems like something I mean that is changing in a way that we're not gonna go back on lazy say it The funny thing is Joseph get your side is
Starting point is 00:07:04 Working from home actually leads to longer work hours because you're always on call. And it's more productive for the companies. It's less overhead because you don't have to not only pay for rent but also overhead utilities insurance for having a workplace. Is it more productive? Is that empirical? Because I wouldn't think it would be more productive?
Starting point is 00:07:25 It is it is because from Jeffrey Tuben, I imagine it is I don't want you to go ahead and ask him how it works from home. Hey, it was productive. All right. I want his arm has never been stronger I want complicated legacy Joseph Gackie to climb the ranks at metal arc meeting and become an executive I want him to have more and more power But this is done forever with a breakfast wraps Metal Arc Media and become an executive. I want him to have more and more power. I don't. I don't. But this is done forever. We're coated with a breakfast wraps. How did the breakfast, how did the food get shittier?
Starting point is 00:07:53 Whose decision was that? I like the breakfast wrap this morning. You're good. You would you want eggs for 17th day in a row? And with the cheesy hash, we have. I've heard complaints about the breakfast. You know what you used to get? You used to get a vending machine
Starting point is 00:08:06 with some orange peanut butter cracker You're not kidding I wait a minute the world wriggly spirumin gum for 15 cents Dan the first thing you said you came in as man. That's a large breakfast burrito. You're holding Brad and Brad said that's a large breakfast burrito you're holding, Brad. And Brad said, that's what Brad said. Brad said, it's just the size of me and the smallest of my hands. It's not the size of the burrito. I'm a very economical leader. What are we calling you these days? Damn it, no! Brad works.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Yeah. Do you? What do you do it from home? Comedian. Got a special on beeps. Yeah, that's a real job Jesus Christ. Oh, does that offend you? I mean the changing workplaces a thing that is forever altered Correct like this. We're not going back on this one. Are we? You've got CEOs and say, you've got some people willing to unpopularly say from the elite class of the rich, willing to say, get your asses back in the office. But there's not a valid philosophy
Starting point is 00:09:19 behind it other than that's how we've always done it, right? There are some jobs that require you to be in person, right? Some jobs need... Important ones, broadcaster. Like that. Like that. That shit they do when it goes to Maui and they call it from a closet amateurs. Something that, for instance, manufacturing for sure, right?
Starting point is 00:09:40 Any kind of service that you're performing, all the service jobs, I can't get a haircut over Zoom. I have to go to my barber shop to get a haircut. But when you talk about the vast majority of white collar jobs where people are doing fair... Fair collar. Data entry or any other school. Second place is blue.
Starting point is 00:10:01 They have to, I mean, they don't have to go in because there's nothing that makes the work better, quality or more accessible by them being in person. Do you guys have any opinions on this? I'm just curious whether, because you guys are coming from a different generation. Oh, much fun you have. Chris Cody and Lucy are coming from different generations.
Starting point is 00:10:23 They're- Are I being ignored? You should have some dissenting opinions on this show. He is coming from a different generation as well though. I like going back to work. I didn't, I was cool with when we worked from home for like a few months. My back started hurting. I just wanted the normal life feel of leaving every day and coming back. And when you're at home constantly, it's like you never really stop working,
Starting point is 00:10:45 so it's just, I like being back to normal. I think it should just pretty much be a choice. Like I know certain companies like the company, my dad works for, had a really tough time just trying to get people back into the office. So it became this decision of, do we force people to go back in the office, be miserable, or do we let them choose?
Starting point is 00:11:01 And so it's, at this point, if you're at a job that requires you to go in, that's not something like we do, where it's the product is a lot better in person, then like, why not just work at home? I don't really care. Do what you want. I don't know why people are so up in arms about this.
Starting point is 00:11:14 And guess what? Turn those old buildings into places for people to live. How about that? Yeah. Thank you. I just sold all the problems. Let me tell you, so many buildings people are living. If you walk outside, you walk outside.
Starting point is 00:11:27 As a person who's worked from home since 2020, every single day, it definitely plays a part into my depression because all I do is work. All I do is try to make everyone here look like great people. I mean, not assholes. That's hard work. That's a 24 hour job. Literally, especially, we've grown as a company,
Starting point is 00:11:47 so the work demand is a little different now. So I find myself some days, I won't even leave the house for like a day or two, and I don't realize that day. I don't have it on vitamin D or none of the just a human interaction that it takes for me to at least have confidence sometimes. So I think I struggle with it.
Starting point is 00:12:04 See, Dan, to me, it's kind of like when the NBA in 1998 said we need maximum salaries, because these salaries are out of control. And this is going to help us the owners. And the players are like, no, we won't have max salaries. That's awful for the players. And over time, what ended up happening was actually max salaries helps players,
Starting point is 00:12:23 because the number of people making unlimited money are very limited, and the number of NBA players who are modest middle class by their standards is much greater, and so that max salary allowed more of them to make money. Meanwhile, the owners are rather pay the most money to the guy who's actually responsible for the success. So it's actually flip flop from the original intention.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Same thing here. I think the original intention is the employees like I wanna work from home, I wanna be able to do and have my kid next to me and have to pay for daycare and all that stuff. And the owners, the employers are like, no, you need to come into work because that's how work is done.
Starting point is 00:13:00 And over time we're gonna find that the employees are like this is depressing. I have no separation between life and work find that the employees are like, this is depressing. I have no separation between life and work, and the employers are like, I don't wanna pay rent, I don't wanna pay overhead insurance for people to come in to work. No, stay your ass home, work from home.
Starting point is 00:13:15 And that is the full chrome where everything switches. Let me give you an example. You are mentioning that disparity, and I know there's another place with the strike ending with the actors. I think something that a lot of people don't notice and don't care when they think about the actors. Most of them are not making any real money.
Starting point is 00:13:41 You think of them as the height of fame and glory and the top 12% do make plenty. But after that, it's a bit of a struggle. What did you find interesting about the concessions that were made there before we get to the bucket of death by the actors and by the rich people? The only good movie has been Sound of Freedom, available on video on demand. So it's interesting, Dan, because storing James Kavizel, my kid, I was telling my kid, have you ever heard him speak, very compelling? It's gotta be.
Starting point is 00:14:12 A regular Greg Gutfeld. You gotta be. In closing, that's why women should stop voting. He gotta be a hard worker no matter what you do. And in order to paint the picture, I changed the channel to like a movie. And I said, see that guy over there? He's lying down on the ground because he's playing dead.
Starting point is 00:14:27 And there's been a massacre or whatever. That guy right there busts his ass doing auditions and off, off, off Broadway plays and indie movies and commercials just to be cast as dead guy number three. And there are hundreds of thousands of actors like that. Like they're living check to check. They've got regular jobs in between to pay for their health insurance and all that stuff. So you're right. There is a huge have and have not disparity in Hollywood.
Starting point is 00:14:55 But as with regards to the deal, there are no strike protections with AI, which means basically they can use your image and likeness. Fine. We didn't hear you. Yeah, I think he's okay. And I paused in a really well image. Have you ever watched the left behind?
Starting point is 00:15:14 Oh, yes I have. Cro Cameron. Bob. Oh no, the left behind too, I think, that I had. Yeah, so if there's a strike next time, this deal allows the studios to say I'm just gonna use the Name image and likeness of Nicholas Cage or John Travolta or any of these people to continue to come on Stuff Jim. Bezel right so that's a huge deal number two Self tapes are no longer considered auditions. What does that mean it means?
Starting point is 00:15:43 Self-tapes are no longer considered auditions. What does that mean? It means basically what's been happening is people go in person to audition, but then the pandemic happens, so people start zooming in and people were self-taping, right? Meaning I wasn't even asked, I'm sending in a tape. Now here's the big deal, because self-tapes are no longer considered auditions, regular auditions, meaning in person or even over zoom, you get paid for those.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Cell tapes, not auditions, you don't get paid for those because way we didn't ask you. Riveting. So what's going to happen is the studios are going to basically ask for cell tapes because then they don't have to pay you. And that- I don't know. Anything that brings back Charlton Hesson's okay by me. Back to you, Dom. Britt Marley and Clive Owen. I think that cover is something up here. Why is it wherever you go?
Starting point is 00:16:45 Death Full Us. FX is our murder at the end of the world. Streaming November 14th, home of Undisney Plus. Sign up today for 799 a month with ads. Don Lebatard! Mino Hasson! Stougatz! Yeah, Mino Hasson!
Starting point is 00:16:59 This is the Don Lebatard show with the Stougatz! Do you have any other thoughts here before we talk about this? and let us know with these two cats. symbolic thing that Mike Shore and Adam McKay and our friends were in the middle of fighting Hollywood and fighting the billionaires over things that like might not matter to others but matter to creatives. It does matter and because now we're forcing hopefully these studios to hire actual people might let me add that metal-ark media has hired more dwarves then disney snow white in the seven dwarves which is very impressive by the way well done well done very close work by
Starting point is 00:17:51 i know uh... i'm not sure how complicated legacy jozy gaki feels about this and actually sure how he feels about this let's go to the bucket of death shall we who else has to go to the bucket of death do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt, Debt suffered. I have done too and I have one more I have to do. First the kid himself. That would be Mitch. Ju-ju has the lions there. Ju-ju has selected the lions. Yes, Sarski. I'm keeping them and I'm biting the cats.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Lions a big double digit favorite against the Chicago Bears. By the way, the bucket of death is brought to you by Kentucky Fried Chickens two for $5 chicken wraps now in mac and cheese Classic and spicy slaw. That's right chicken wraps are back at KFC. Starting point is 00:19:22 And now they're getting into live comedy. Specials from David David Cross Brad Williams. Are we Lair Saki coming up? Yeah, good lineup. Yeah, I got the Rams Do we want the Rams? What's the line on the Rams? Stafford is Stafford is coming back and They are disappointing they are under 500 And I wish I had the lines in front of me, I do not. We should have a long list of lines in front of all of us. Are the Rams on a buy?
Starting point is 00:19:50 They are plus one and a half dog at home against the Seattle Seahawks. Ooh, division rivalry game. Well, last time I did the bucket of death, I got the Wizard of Oz helmet, which was quite problematic. So can you get the wrap at the hell up helmet? We got the Wizard of Oz helmet, which was quite problematic. So... Can you get the wrap at the hell up helmet? I'll keep the ramps.
Starting point is 00:20:10 After all that, keep them in the nest. He really waffled around in there and just kept it. Go pukin' a kooa. We're in one place where you're not being short. Here we go. Hey man, tell the Jags. There we go. Damn it, the Jags. The Jags are at home minus six and a half against the Titan.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Keeping it. There you go. Lucy's got the golden helmet of life, Mike Ryan, or complete. This is actually complicated. Legacy, Joseph Gackie is now collecting. I'm going to be watching Ten. Come on. You're afraid I'm going to say it, aren't you? collecting 10 Come on
Starting point is 00:20:46 I'm afraid I'm gonna say it, aren't you? Kansas City Chiefs damn close So close Can I do the chant? What does that scare you? Be the wardroam I'm gonna to keep it. Who do they play?
Starting point is 00:21:06 Maybe it's a super bowl. Rain match on Monday night football. Wow. So, I think mine is two and a half to three, depending on where you look. I look at Draft King sportsbook. That's a good game. I didn't even know those two teams were playing this week.
Starting point is 00:21:20 That's my bad. Real football. You know what their mascot used to be? It wasn't a coyote. Well, I mean, he's not selecting. He is their mascot used to be wasn't a coyote Selecting he is someone who likes to tempt the bucket. He is not afraid of the bucket He has served very few penalties. I don't recall I have a loss one I don't remember in years you serving any kinds of penalties damn Because I haven't lost in years you have like I think you have the lowest putback rate you always just keep it
Starting point is 00:21:43 He ain't keeping I got the Patriots Unless shocking that a Levitard shows afraid to be a patriot You know as a patriot gut felt Hold on for a second are the Patriots on a buying is that where we are with the Patriots are they not playing this way the Patriots are on a By congratulations a mean a mean wins again who are the other buying The Falcons the Saints and the Colts. Good. I got the dolphins. I'll keep them. Damn, no Washington.
Starting point is 00:22:14 I am sorry, uh, complicated legacy, Joseph Gackie, that we couldn't do better for you there. Well, just so you like football team. Hit it all that. Hey, Miami plays Louisville this weekend. You haven't talked about it. Tickets are also about one get three free right now. I saw Coral Gables city Coral Gables. Fine city. Done a good job keeping Riff Rapp out of there. The University of Miami does play Louisville. The University of Miami has a Tyler Van Dyke problem. He is going to quarterback in the game in a game that Chris Cody's father has said would make Miami season a success
Starting point is 00:22:50 if they win the Louisville game. I would not necessarily that because it's a trophy. I mean, we got the Schnellenberger trophy, which is what a boot. What a two cowboy boots. He's up. How can it not be one would it be impressive? One would be weird. Yes, Chris, a mustad or a pipe or a pipe. Yeah, they went with a third most known thing. No, was it the third? I didn't even know we were gal boys. I don't even associate snowman burger with with cowboy boots. I don't understand that that would not make the that's the University of Miami season being a success winning Well, it's a trophy the shitty boot
Starting point is 00:23:28 It would be a fantasy. I mean you You know how records against top 10 teams are Taken when when you're trying to judge a coach and this will be good good Lucy Louisville is good Beating Louisville at home on natural grass beating Louisville at home If anyone did it this season if you beat Louisville You have beaten a good team that team is good at offense that team has speed Miami sound favored by a half point They are very good team, but it's not like I know they're a top 10 team But I think if you asked any sort of casual football fan they would have no idea
Starting point is 00:24:01 They're a top-not watch them play all season. So I'm learning their top 10 right now. Even if they do get this win, it's not really gonna carry that way. What network is this game on? Oh, it's got Shor. It's like a really not going to be. Well, it's a new, so it's probably on, it's a new insert, so it's probably got a good window.
Starting point is 00:24:19 ABC, probably. So it's, I mean, if they win, it's a great win, but I don't think it's gonna carry a lot of weight with anyone outside of my, my main. Right. Most people just don't respect ACC teams. So the fact that this is, you get to beef up your record against top 10 teams, potentially. It's a good moment for Mario Chrisibault to kind of galvanize this because he's thinking
Starting point is 00:24:39 he kind of needs this because a six win season, because they head up to to Boston College next week, it'd be a real disappointment in year two. So it'd be a nice time for him to get a signature win here. Granted, he is playing Tyler Van Dyke. Louisville has played man defenses. We know Tyler struggles against his own. I saw some quotes from Tyler Van Dyke, and I was real worried.
Starting point is 00:24:59 It kind of felt like Josh Rosen with none of the on field success, but then I actually watched and got all the context from the interview. And I thought he handled it pretty well. And he's a lot of other things he said. He's not going to let football affect his happy. Now I don't believe him. I don't, I, I,
Starting point is 00:25:16 not a great match with a head coach. I just, I don't, I don't believe that you could feel the things that he's been feeling and not have it affect your happy. You could try to separate yourself from your identity as a quarterback if you're a young person, but it seems like Tyler Van Dyke would be pretty miserable and he's trying to put on a brave face so that it may be he can work from home. Devan White Glen Allen Hill Pat Tabler Tim Tuffle Gary Pettis Bruce Hurst Craig Lufferts Jim Dishays Doug Brocail Stardom d'Ey, star of d'Ey, in the city of Stardom d'Ey, star of d'Ey, star of d'Ey, in the city of Stardom d'Ey, star of d'Ey, star of d'Ey, star of d'Ey, in the start of the day.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Today's sad of the day is brought to you by Venmo, your money, your moves. Mike sure has gotten very busy but he has sent out. Mike sure has gotten very busy, but he has sent out, Mike sure has sent out a stat of the day. Blake Snell, career Sai Young's, two, career complete games, zero.
Starting point is 00:27:20 That is a sea change in the sport. David Samson and Adnan Burke covered the sport very well and they cover the movies less well, but they cover the movies as well. We will get to their opinions on an assortment of movie related topics in a second, but when I give you guys that stat, Adnan, you first place, your thoughts are what?
Starting point is 00:27:43 Because he was totally overwhelming this year you look at his game logs and it's all zero runs one run zero run one run it's it's pretty amazing and yet zero complete games. Yeah, what's fascinating Dan also is just how this term effectively wild he was you know he led the league and walks and his first nine starts the season he, he had a 5.40 ERA. He was clearly a big disappointment. And then the rest of the year, he was outstanding. Microscopic, in fact, and those final few starts especially.
Starting point is 00:28:12 But as you point out, he's not a guy known for durability. And this is the way of the new modern picture, just five and dive, which used to be a term to denigrate a picture. Now, hey, five and dive, but we're good. And with Blake Snell, and David knows this, his whip is always inflated because there's always runners on, but his stuff is incredible. And he focuses on strikeouts. So he's not deterred by a couple of walks as long as you strike out the next guy with overpowering stuff, he feels good about it. But I don't feel great about giving a guy $200 million knowing he's going to go five and a third and his job is
Starting point is 00:28:39 done. David. Yeah, someone's going to make a big mistake this off season because the rumors are he's going to get five years and 150 to 200 million and five and dive is not compliment. And the success he had with holding the runners that he walked from scoring. He actually came out with a quote the past few days. I don't mind walking my pitch coach and I are good. We're fine. We focus on the next guy. Well, in the league where you try to limit home runs to solo home runs, that's not a good plan. Someone's going to lose this game of musical chairs. What are we doing movie related today? I don't know how to pronounce Gillin Hall. Gillin Hall. Is it Gillin Hall or Gillin Hall?
Starting point is 00:29:20 Gillin Hall. Yep. You said right the second time, Dan. Okay. Thank you. Yep. You said we're at the second time, Dan. Okay, thank you. No. So today I should say is the 45th birthday of Maggie of Jill and Hall fame. Rachel.
Starting point is 00:29:33 To her. I don't care. Good luck. What just happened? What? I have, I look, I got a virus on this computer. And I was clearing stuff. I had it all cute, but I was clearing stuff. There's been a butthole on my screen for half of the work hours Sorry about that
Starting point is 00:29:55 So what I'd be I don't clear good luck and I was also checking on my Blake's Snell future because I'm just learning you one Sai Young. So plus two 50 a couple of months ago, that's good. Congratulations. What are we doing? Top five, Jill and Hall movies, both of the Jill and Halls? We're gonna do the siblings.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Maggie turns 45, but they are a very successful brother sister team. So today is the top five, Jill and Hall sibling movies of all time. Oh, yes. Oh, wow. Juju, I'm usually excited about this. Any outside looking in?
Starting point is 00:30:30 Are we starting with simply the list? Let's go. I'm ready. Number five, broke back Mountain. Broke back Mountain was quite ahead of its time with Heath Ledger, the late Heath Ledger and Jake Jill andal playing Cowboys, rough masculine Cowboys who end up as lovers, movie directed by Ang Lee, one of the most beautiful movies award-winning movies I've ever seen. That's number five.
Starting point is 00:30:57 It should have won Best Picture, David. Couldn't agree more. It was a disappointment that I actually lost to Crash, which to me is one of the weaker Best Picture winners in recent memories. Gorgeously shot, as you mentioned, only as a real sensitivity to the material. Heath Ledger, Jake Gyll-Hall, amazing movie together. I agree. Broke that mountain.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Great film. Number four. Source code. Source code was not widely seen. It's with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monahan, who you may know from the Mission Impossible movies, Tom Cruise's girlfriend, Slash Wife. This is a movie about a guy in a train. He may be alive.
Starting point is 00:31:30 He may be dead. He may not be that person. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also in the movie where it shows what science can do in order to help stop a crime potentially from happening. It's like minority report before, minority report, minority report. Source code, fantastic movie,
Starting point is 00:31:48 we're seeing Thrice. I love an esoteric choice as much as an ex person, but I figured I was seeing a Thrice. I've never seen it once. As you said, David, most people I haven't seen it. I can't even criticize the movie. I haven't seen it. I don't think anyone there has seen it,
Starting point is 00:31:59 even listing or watching, but go ahead. Sure, source code. I saw it. It was great. Thank you, Juju. Love you, code. I saw it. It was great. Thank you, Juju. Love you, man. I don't understand how a movie person critiques a movie they've never seen. Why not just acknowledge I've never seen it. It may be great. I just wanted to point out that if it was anything of relevance, I would have seen it. But go ahead, sure. I would have been on center five. If it was working, I would have seen it. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:32:23 Number three. Stinger butt up. Prisoners. The newly single Hugh Jackman is in a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, and it is a movie that gets you on myriad levels. What you think it's about, it may not be about. It's got tension. It's got amazing writing. It freaked me out when I watched it for various reasons.
Starting point is 00:32:44 So I've never watched it again, but it still is number three. Most notably Canadian director, Deneville, love didn't care for the ending a little bit ridiculous. The phone call from the grave, but I'm with the David really well-acted. It's a suspenseful excellent film. Number two, Crazy Heart. That is known as the Academy Award-winning vehicle for Jeff Bridges, but Maggie Jill and Hall plays a critical role as his girlfriend as a single mother in that movie. It is a movie with a great soundtrack with Jeff Bridges and her performance, subtle,
Starting point is 00:33:17 wonderful, beautiful. And I chose that over Secretary, which is another great Maggie Jill and Hall vehicle. But this movie is worth seeing crazy heart number two. I wish you've gone with secretary, nothing like a little S&M conversation. I think the show would have appreciated it, but crazy heart is excellent. I in fact have the CD. I got that sent to me, a part of the Cricks Joyce Association. So the CD is excellent.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Jeff Bridges sings, I can't pull a song. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to crank up the crazy heart CD later today. I liked it better. It was called tender mercies, but sure, it's a good movie. Go ahead. That is a Jessica. Are you there? You've never heard it. She's not. Robert DeVolk, country singer. Go ahead. What I don't like about the segment Dan is that Adnan feels like he has to prove every week about all the stuff he does and gets and sees. It's like boasting for no reason. Number one. Well, he does have credentials.
Starting point is 00:34:06 He's got critics credentials. Right. I'm a member of the Critics Choice Association, so I do get sent free stuff. I get sent swag. It's a long talk. Oh, yeah. And how close is that camera to your Facebook?
Starting point is 00:34:19 That. It is. It is. Listen, it's a rule, Julio, when you're a critic, you gotta get closer to the camera. That's how it works. I don't write the rules here. Number one, David. Did Metal Art get in his credentials?
Starting point is 00:34:31 No, this is pre metal art. Dan, that's correct. I believe he was showing them off in his interview process on his resume. He was pointing out to everybody, you know, you know, I'm more qualified than most to be a critic. I have a number of awards for being a critic and a number of free, swaggy things because I'm a critic. Aside from that snobbish tone, that's verbatim what I've said.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Number one day. I can see that work, Donnie Dan. Number one, stranger than fiction. Don't say a word at, man. Not one word, stranger than fiction is Will Ferrell's best movie. That's number one. Number two Maggie Jill and Hall is a baker who is audited by the tax man played by Will Ferrell. Amit Thompson, Queen Latifa, Dustin Hoffman, the layers of this movie. Maybe you did not understand them and I'm fine with that But there are words and passages and pros in the movie that make
Starting point is 00:35:25 you think about your life. The choices you make, what's real, what's not real. And at the end of the day, as you know what I love, it's a movie about love. And it's got one of my top five lines of any movie. Emma Thompson is a chain smoker. Queen Latifa gives her a nicorette patch. And she says, a nicotine patch. I don't need a nicotine patch. I smoke Yeah, I can't really see what it's all the top five lines of all time. That's pretty good
Starting point is 00:35:54 Man, you're not gonna believe this but again, we've mismanaged the clock So Adnan has so rightful through his top That number one's good. I like stranger than fiction But stranger than fiction will Ferrell's best movie I've not heard a whole lot of people say that now. I haven't seen stranger than fiction But that is not something I've heard a whole lot of damn there's a reason we have to hold a whole lot of that It's not true, so don't worry skip stranger than fiction. You're gonna be fine. You'll get your life Okay, all right number five
Starting point is 00:36:22 light crawler All right, number five. Nightcrawler. That was a good one. Great film. I mean, this is like Taxi Driver meets Network. The insatiable celebrity news media run a Rousseau channeling fade, done away. Jilla Hall's kind of slash Travis Bickle, Danero. Fantastic.
Starting point is 00:36:38 We'll be bug out of the entire time. Introduce us to the great Rizza Med. Nightcrawler, excellent film. Shame on you, Samson. Not having this in your top five. Number four, The Dark Knight. Buzzer, oh, there he is. Only one of the best films in the last 25 years,
Starting point is 00:36:53 you're not gonna include the fact Maggie Gyllenhaal was in The Dark Knight, clearly important part of this film, Heath Ledger Forever. Number three, Broke Back Mountain. Buzzer, oh, there he is. As discussed, only wonderful film, beautifully acted all the rest of it. Number two, you mentioned Stranger than Fiction.
Starting point is 00:37:09 That's like Charlie Kaufman Light. The real Charlie Kaufman will adaptation, please stand up. Phenomenal Nicholas Cage movie playing both roles, Donald and Charlie Kaufman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, great in the movie. And number one, you guys are going to love this. I think of the Gyllenhaals, I think of one movie, and Jake was in it, it's City Slickers. Buzzer.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Buzzer. Well, as he was Billy Crystal's son, that's a great call at now. That's, boy, that's good list. You're not saying that's good. Oh, he brought down his sword. David Simpson puts it, what happened there? You just, you're, you tip your cap to, to a man and you say it is a good list. That is a historic moment in
Starting point is 00:37:50 the history of the show. Keep doing that's unbelievable. He's a professional critic and that is the highest compliment David samson is said he is okay with and then's like who do you believe crystal delivering a cap would be the moment that samson would see his authority to me number one and then finally cinnophile is where you find and then uh... works at ninverx movie movie reviews and david samson check out nothing personal thank you gentlemen
Starting point is 00:38:26 thanks guys at an inverse movie movie reviews and David Samson check out nothing personal thank you gentlemen Thanks guys
