DraftKings, the crown is yours.
Happy Friday everybody.
It's Mike.
I'm in with you.
We're going to talk about the big story in sports from last night.
And that is, and probably so if you've been a lifelong Florida Panthers fan like I have.
And keep in mind, I'm very much in
line with Sam Bennett. Job is not finished but it is pretty gnarly. Keep in mind also that I've only
seen my team prior to this year win one Stanley Cup game. In their third, they are now leading 3-0. Lord Stanley will be in that barn on Saturday.
And a franchise that has been the butt of many jokes
throughout, I don't wanna say its inception
because we got off to a really hot start here
and we thought that we had something sustainable.
We thought Miami was a hockey market.
But this is a franchise that has undergone
so many different identities.
Really, a franchise riddled with an identity crisis.
Are we Miami?
Are we Broward?
Are we red?
Are we blue?
Why is there a monk ringing a bell?
All of that stuff.
And now, finally some stability up top, thankfully.
And you've seen the benefits of having that
stability, having people in your front office know exactly what they're doing
and building something sustainable. There were some people in the bar yesterday
that I was at, shout out to the Brightside the hockey bar, they're talking
about how this team is set up for several years after that. Let's get the
one. Well, let's get one because I can tell you me
personally I don't know how many people are familiar with my story out of high
school first job that I had was with the Florida Panthers. I love this team 1996
having that hit me at that age it made a lifelong fan enemy. I suffered through
lockouts, I suffered through poor decisions and drafting, really bad
transactions and here we are,
I can tell you quite honestly that this is a trophy I've wanted more than anything in
my life.
This championship means more to me in the pro ranks than anything.
I think you all know where I side with in the college ranks, and that would be something
special one day.
But as far as pro championships go, I've never wanted something more.
And we're right there, and I experienced yesterday
so strangely.
It was odd.
It was odd because I just reminded myself.
I made myself Brian Scroodlin all of a sudden.
Just head down, no, no, no.
We're one away.
I'm not even going to do the victory shots, skis,
not doing any of that.
Job is not done. You've been in press conference mode in our group chat I'm not even gonna do the victory shots, skis, not doing any of that.
Job is not done.
You've been in press conference mode in our group chat,
the whole series.
Anytime anyone gets excited, you're like, it's early.
You're saying all the stuff that they're saying
like in press conferences.
Working here, I've had to fend off jinx attempt
after jinx attempt from Greg Cody's asinine
McOverrated stuff to them wanting to print shirts,
to people trying to put themselves in a parade route,
to having people from Vegas reach out to me saying,
hey, can we have a party the way that we threw
for the Chiefs?
I'm like, I'm not doing any of that for anyone.
I'm trying to impede it at every turn
because when it comes to my superstitions,
I gotta tell you, Chris,
this has been a superstition master class
and you know exactly what I'm talking about.
That's why my beard is so long.
I am in it to win it and hopefully on Saturday
because I don't wanna do the Monday thing.
I don't wanna do the Monday thing
and I know Chris has his reasons why he wants to do the,
well it's Tuesday, right?
The game's on Tuesday.
Yeah, it's Tuesday.
Yeah, I don't wanna do the game five thing.
Chris wants to do the game five thing
only because he's rooting against Roy.
Yeah, I want Roy to come back here miserable.
What?
I just think it'd be funny.
I'm on that train too, I'm on back.
Roy wants to be there when they hoist the cup,
and he will be, unless it's in game six.
No, I don't want that.
So yeah, how far are you willing to take this?
One game, I just want Roy to come back from Edmonton with his tail between his legs so that you can be in person with the
I want to be there too. Yeah, why won't he be there game six because I don't think the budget is
One budget the budget only has one game to Edmonton for Roy and he's going up there for for game four
You see what he did yesterday and tried to ruin it of jinxes, like at 10 18 p.m.
So I think like start of the third,
I think it's when it became four one.
He tweeted out a picture of his bag
and it just says packed.
Like he put out there at four one,
I'm on my way to Edmonton.
Which like wasn't great timing
because then it became four three
and it was getting, there was a chance there at the end
that we get a tight game and then anything could happen.
It was honestly a roller coaster of a game.
Edmonton comes out in the first period,
they're looking like the better side, we get a goal,
and then they come back, and then we, that second period,
oh, that second period, that string of goals
in the second period was beautiful.
Skinner!
And then we get up, and then they make it closer,
like it kind of, 4-1 you look at
and you think Panther's dominated.
That was a scary game.
No, that was probably the second best Oilers performance.
I mean, there's only been three,
but that was a solid performance from the Oilers,
but everything but the finish.
My third period was me trying,
I spent half that third period trying to wake my wife up.
My wife, we drove back from Orlando.
I literally dropped her off.
She decided, you know, Juliet's got a little bit of a cough.
Let me stay home for this game.
And I was like, well, that throws off the juju.
Hopefully we can survive that.
We're doing great.
We're texting the entire time.
Then all of a sudden, third period happened.
Nothing.
It starts happening.
Nothing on the other end.
And then there's one word.
My wife went to bed in the third period, too.
I was like, you're like, how did you fall? So did I. I have to say wife went to bed in the third period too. I was like, how did you fall?
So did I.
I have to say, I fell asleep in the third period too.
You thought it was over.
But my wife goes to the games with me
and she's so into it at the games.
But yet when we're at home,
her interest is just like, ah, let me know how it's going.
And I'm like, at the game you're so into this with me.
It's the most psychotic string of text.
Wake the fuck up!
Wake up, what are you doing?
And it's just all superstition, but like I said,
pulling every lever.
I am rooting for Roy to witness this in person.
I wish I could be there.
I have a wedding tomorrow,
but thankfully it's a daytime wedding.
It's a daytime wedding.
If it was a nighttime wedding, I would've skipped it,
especially since it's the second, I love Stacey.
And it's your second wedding.
I was gonna go to Brightside, the bar with the boys,
but I'm gonna go to the barn.
Yeah.
I bought a ticket.
That's appealing.
I think it's gonna be sold out.
It's gonna be crazy there.
Those environments are unbelievable
if you see the videos right now.
That's where they hoisted babies at the pan.
Well, that was last year.
Yeah, last year.
No, but when you get people who were that dedicated
to a team in an arena watching the game together
Especially and I saw last night. They have a thing on the ice. We're like the
It's so cool. The hockey version of it is even I'm gonna be there the best
Yeah, I don't want to speak in platitudes or do the damn thing where every series
He's surprised that the penalty kill is shut down in an opposing power play you You'd think by like the third round he's seen it,
he would have been like, okay, well if anybody could do it,
it's probably this Florida Panthers team.
But I will say, there was one power play in particular
that I think if you're looking for a moment
that could encapsulate the series thus far,
Barkov goes to the penalty box on the delay game.
And you're forced to penalty kill without Alexander Barkov goes to the penalty box on the delay game and you're forced to penalty
kill without Alexander Barkov and you know that McDavid's gonna be on the ice
for the entirety of that power play and he was two minutes in your zone. Guys
just so gassed by the end of it you couldn't get to a loose puck they just
kept their tight formation in front of the net it was two minutes of an
onslaught and they didn't surrender a goal.
And right then and there, you kind of felt like
if you can sustain that, their power play
is not getting one.
And I do want to talk about Connor McDavid some,
because our show is the largest perpetrator of this.
And I'm not thrilled with the McDavid discourse.
Again, superstition pulling all the right levers, but.
He got one last night in the matchup with Greg Cody.
It's two-one now.
Yeah, McDavid.
It's two-one Greg.
I think McDavid, with last night's performance,
acquitted himself nicely.
And I know a lot of people, the Greg Codys of the world,
and the people that subscribe to the Greg Cody podcast
that are loving all this McOverrated stuff,
are like, what are you talking about? He didn't score a goal.
He's not a score-first player. I bet you if Greg Cody were sitting here right now
I would shock him with the news that Connor McDavid is the third leading goal
scorer on his own team. There is a 50 goal scorer in Zach Hyman, a 40 goal
scorer in Leon Dreisaitl who makes 40 goals look effortless. Those guys are not putting the biscuit
in the back of the net.
Dreisaitl is where the criticism should be.
Yeah, but I guess we can't make a name pun
with Leon Dreisaitl.
So Leon Dreisaitl is arguably a top five player
in this league.
He came into this series with the reputation
of also being a big timetime playoff performer. You
could stack up his playoff trajectory up against the all-time greats and his
biggest contribution was getting a dirty shot in on Alexander Barkov so far this
series. McDavid not only did he have the two assists but he also set up, beautifully
so, for Ryan McLeod on a silver platter the game tying opportunity
and it was just a silly attempt from connor mcdavid to go through the legs
uh... of bob whose right now
easily
the cons might
uh... choice
and
account i kind of feel some kind of way about that but i understand you we have
the video right here of of connor mcdavid
uh... look at this attempt through Bob's legs to set up Ryan
McCloud. If McCloud just hits it right between the five hole like McDavid is urging him to do
with that pass, that game is tied and we might still be at the bright side. Unbelievable from
Connor McDavid. He was great last night. I mean there are times where he tries to do too much but
that's going to happen. He's got to do too., but that's gonna happen. He's gotta do too, he's gotta,
like his 50 goal scorer is invisible.
What Zach Hyman brings to the table is,
he's gonna stand in that crease,
he's gonna provide the traffic necessary
for either a boochie bomb or he's gonna put one away.
And he's been bullied out of that crease.
He's been bullied out,
and pretty much everybody that has tried that stuff,
Boston probably had the most success early in that series in getting
in front of Bobrovsky and trying to create some traffic there. But Dry Cytl
and Zach Hyman, these are people worthy of your criticism because I think even
the most casual of hockey fans or just sports fans that are tuning in and have
heard the name Connor McDavid you tune into that game
And you see what McDavid is doing with the puck how he's effortlessly spinning around in the opposing zone
Everyone can tell like that guy's a threat you can you cannot know anything about hockey and know that 97 is
Dangerous with the puck that's exactly how I watch the games right because this is my first
I told you guys I was gonna lock in during the finals run and here we are
So I've been watching all the games, and I don't know anybody from the opposing team
But when I see somebody fly past everybody I'm like, oh, that's McDavid for sure. Yeah, they have numbers
You have been with a microscope watching the TV Billy give me a break
Yeah, yeah, sometimes a little kid end up behind Paul Maurice
I saw him on the news broadcast him and his dad just took a trip for games three and four.
They went up there and I don't know how they got those seats.
Maybe the Panthers said, like, if you guys wanna go,
we can provide tickets behind the bench
because I do know that the visiting team
has an allotment that you're allowed to get.
And shout out to all the Panthers fans that did make it.
I know that they weren't necessarily Legion,
but we did see some red in that barn
and that is one hell of a trip to make under the circumstances.
Backstreet's back, alright! Since the dawn of mankind, we've cooked our food over an open flame and debated the best way to grill.
One thing not up for debate, grilling and beer always go together. But not just any beer would do.
Whether you barbecue, text in style, or just
celebrate Wednesday with burgers and dogs, I love Miller Lite. Every single time my team
plays on television, I am sitting behind that television screen with a Miller Lite or three.
Miller Lite keeps it simple. Undebatable quality, taste as great as your barbecue.
It's the beer that strips away everything you don't need and holds on to what matters the most.
With the Miller Lite in hand, grilling doesn't just taste great, it tastes like Miller time.
To get Miller Lite delivered right to your door, visit MillerLite.com slash Dan.
Or you can find it pretty much anywhere that sells beer.
Celebrate responsibly.

Hoo! Don LeBattard! For weeks, months even, during the regular season, I wondered aloud
what Kevin Stenlon did. And then about three weeks ago, it hit me. Stugats! He gives him one of these, and he gives him one of those.
This is the Don LeVatar Show with the Stugats.
Let's talk about the circumstances briefly,
because I have been listening to the show
while I was away in Orlando for a couple of days.
Guys, I understand Dan was on that Zoom that one time
with the dude from Succession.
I get all that.
If Flanagan's is open, you don't have to worry.
They were all open by the way.
It didn't rain yesterday.
I mean, I drove down.
It rained like 5 p.m.
Yeah, I drove down and I drove down through some sogginess.
Thankfully it was dry up in Orlando,
but whenever our show makes it seem like it's bad, and I understand
there's less warning time now for these torrential downpours,
and I do know that parts of Miami get really flooded,
but they also get flooded at four o'clock
on a Wednesday afternoon out of nowhere
after a 15 minute shower.
Those are more infrastructure issues, I think,
than anything, because it's always the same spot.
It's Hialeah.
Yeah. I pulled in, listening to the show, I thought, I was like Yeah, yeah. Because it's always the same spot that gets you. It's high alia. Yeah.
I pulled in, listening to the show,
I thought, I was like, OK, well, let's get the 4x4 going.
Let's see if I can get one of those scuba tanks for the engine,
if you've seen those jeeps with it.
The big muffler on top, yeah.
Yeah, the big muffler on top.
And no, it was just a little slick, the ground.
So any time our show tries to scare you,
which is often about the weather,
just look on Google to see if Flanagan's is still open.
If Flanagan's is open, you're good.
If Flanagan's is closed, evacuate.
Because whatever is forcing Flanagan's to close
has to be a disaster of monumental proportion.
So I just wanted to get that out there.
I think Flanagan's was not only open,
Hulk Hogan was at a Flanagan festival.
He was in Hollywood.
He was doing like a meet and greet for some reason.
Zaslow.
Zas posted a photo from Flanagan.
Did you say you were gonna go?
I was gonna go, yeah, my brother and I were gonna go
because why not?
Hulk Hogan at a Flanagan's, but then honestly,
it was the weather that sort of made us go,
hold on a second, should we be doing doing that we canceled our plans the day before and then I didn't have time to put it back
I wanted to go you of all people weather is what was gonna keep you away from Hulk Hogan. Well, that's fair
Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, so South Florida declared a state of emergency
But that didn't stop Hulk Hogan from paid appearances all throughout local casinos
It was pretty bad in Broward County the day before.
We got nine and a half inches of rain in Broward,
which is why I didn't come down.
Broward was really bad.
Broward's the one that got it worse.
But like, here it was.
I'm not, I know I sound like I'm minimizing
what happened by comparison,
because by comparison, how could I not,
given what I heard on this show over the last few days?
But yeah, it was bad.
It popped up.
I grew up, I went to high school
and we had that no name storm,
a cyclone that basically developed over us
and that flooding was as bad as I've ever seen.
But yeah, these are happening earlier in the season.
The water's eight degrees warmer.
I'm properly scared too, but Flanagan's remains open.
So we're good.
Metro was still running too.
I walked home during the storm.
Metro's still running.
So we're good.
Let's talk about Gustav Forsling a little bit.
And Sarah Sivian from Too Many Men podcast
will be joining us later in the show.
And she can attest that I've inundated her
with text about number 42 throughout the season.
I thought his performance was really special
and he's not gonna get Con Smythe consideration.
There's no way I cash that plus 5,000.
He's third, I'd say, at least at this point.
Yeah, especially since Barkov got that goal.
And also, if there was one thing that you wanna nitpick
from Connor McDavid's performance yesterday, outside of him not scoring a goal, and that's all that matters to some, was he
tried a cute little drop off pass to Bouchard, and then Bouchard, who's a good player in
his own right and hasn't had the best series, he tried to get too cute with it.
And that's fine.
It's the Stanley Cup final.
Maybe you have to try to be creative.
Connor McDavid kind of alluded to the fact that they're going to take more chances. You
don't do that with 16 barreling down you. They did that right in front of Sasha Barkov,
which turned into a goal immediately. Edmonton played pretty well outside of maybe four or
five mistakes, and they paid for damn near every single one of them. And that's a sign
of a good team in Florida, which is really confusing,
and I'm actually happy that Florida's ascending a little bit
because against the New York Rangers,
it was a little frustrating in that
you would get a couple of opportunities,
you'd cash in on them,
but you were still in these absolute dogfights.
The most impressive thing about the Panthers,
and they talked about this on the broadcast last night,
it doesn't matter if they just scored,
if they just gave up a goal,
the Panthers look the same out there.
You see like five different versions
of the Oilers throughout this series.
They're flowing here.
Oh, their offense is good right now.
Oh my God, they can't stop anyone right now.
The Panthers are just so consistent.
A master class in team defense.
All five guys you see in the ice, around the net,
it is just master class.
And as much as they wanna tell,
oh, the atmosphere and this McDavid and Dry Cytle,
and then at the very end,
they're always left just being like,
but these damn Panthers.
They just-
It goes the same way.
They're just relentless.
It goes the same way.
Everyone gets super frustrated.
You start trying to pick out instances
where maybe there was a missed call
because we gotta get our dominant power play out there.
Every single series has gone the same way.
Trust me, I know I've listened to every opposing team's
podcast, intervenously.
At this point, they're just like, I don't know.
They're just a good team.
And hopefully, that's all they're left with at the end,
because you're seeing the same sort of coping mechanisms.
There is a whole pyramid of coping
that opposing fan bases have done.
And the next thing you know,
it's like how do we break Kevin Stenland?
We find ourselves in a position
where we're either gonna hoist the cup
or have one of the most epic collapses
in modern sports history.
It's good to know that right now
you've played your way into a scenario
that if disaster strikes and you lose three straight,
say there's a terrible injury and Florida's had pretty good injury luck when you compare
it to, especially when you compare it to last year's postseason. But you have a scenario
in which if you're totally undone by bad puck luck and and you just lose three straight you still have a game seven at home
for the cup so
Like that is your worst case scenario that I'm painting for you is you can have injuries
You got a you got to take one out of the next four and if for whatever reason worst case scenario
We got a game seven it goes. Yeah, is, if a lot of people would've taken,
I know Dan would've taken that.
If we get there though, I will have.
Dan's rooting for it.
If we get to that point,
I will have pooped myself 42 times,
is what everyone has said. Roy's flown back to Edmonton
11 times, so.
That third period, and I'm not gonna say I wasn't nervous,
I revealed that I was calling my wife panicked,
because I thought her dozing off was the deference.
But they were even largely in control there.
And I gotta say, most of my mind was like,
well, they're not gonna blow a 4-1.
We can trust this Panthers that much.
But then the things started happening to make you fear,
like, well, we're a pretty cursed franchise.
I know they're, on the other side,
every franchise thinks they're cursed
and that their plight is the worst. but it went the way that it would.
They're only gonna get a goal if it bounces off of Michalat. That shot's a
foot and a half wide and it goes in for an own goal. They're getting the proper
amount of greasy ones now and then honestly like my guts were on the ground
when McDavid got from that 99 point and he went through the wickets on Bob and thank God
It was 37 on the receiving end of that and Bob probably won cons my with that moment there
What's amazing about Bob is going into the third period?
He had the greatest save percentage in a Stanley Cup final ever ever
He's got the seventh best save percentage now after the two goals in the third period.
But he is having one of the most legendary performances
just in the final, let alone everything he did
in taking down a bunch of great goalies
in the first few series.
Yeah, there's a lot of conventional thinking
when it goes into the Con Smythe,
which is why I think if you look at Draft King's
sports book, he's probably a huge odds on favorite
right now
to win the Con Smythe, but maybe it's a hockey hipster in me.
I'd probably put him third at this moment
as a playoff long award.
I would say that what Forsling did last night
is that has been him the entire postseason and if you want to
make a statement with that that Con Smythe and give it to like the player
of tomorrow the guy that does stuff that doesn't show up on a stat sheet how he
just closes off angles and forces a wraparound attempt that is not sexy even
like pretty sophisticated hockey viewers are probably not catching on to what
Forestling does
But I think forestling has been totally dynamite this entire postseason run
He's also getting frisky in the offensive end this postseason
I think forestling for me is the best player on the ice if you want to give it to Barkov because he's got the matchup
He's one for checking and I thought he kind of looked a little off, especially with that delay of game,
but he had two individual moments of brilliance.
And...
And a lot of the stuff he does,
I've learned in this series,
it's just like on the boards.
It's a little like, he hits their stick.
There's so many little things Barkov does
you don't even notice.
How great was that one though?
There was 24 seconds left.
And you just run to the boards,
and you just saw the game away.
Ekblad, I've never loved Ekblad as much.
Dude, I... Just put that puck against the boards with your skate and just stay there.
Yeah, before I get Jeremy involved again, like Ekblad, Aaron Ekblad, after game one
of that Boston Bruins series, where we, who haven't had a lot to be frustrated about this
entire postseason or that Tampa Bay series, we projected all of our angst and all of our
years-long frustration with Aaron Echblad on that one performance and
looking back on it definitely it was unfair. Paul Maurice,
I said he is a come and everybody here has always had the ultimate faith in Paul Maurice. We've always been Paul Moe guys.
We've never wanted him fired. We've never blamed him for killing. From the very first moment. From the very first moment.
We've always been Paul Maurice guys. He told us Aaron Echblad's fine. And Aaron Echblad
since that moment, he's been a titan. This is a really difficult matchup. These are guys
and Aaron Echblad's powering through some stuff. And historically when that guy gets
a little bit hurt and he has to start playing through stuff, that's when there's a huge drop off in play.
And I'm not jinxing anything, jobs not done,
but Aaron Echblad is the longest tenured Florida Panther.
And if you're looking at guys to get the cup second
after Sasha Barkov, you can actually bet on these.
People are saying Oposso
because he's been chasing the cup for so long
I really want an oposo goal for this
Right. How well no bark off gets it first because he's team captain. How old so poso posos like 35 36
Oh, wow. Yeah, dude. Oh posos like been in this league for a long time
And he's been like a first liner type of dude it like we all see him as a scrappy fourth liner
This is a guy that's actually been counted on for pretty meaningful teams in his heyday.
Me personally, if before Panthers do win this, the guy that I want to see lift the cup second
is Aaron Echblad.
And I'll be there right with Brooks Koepka apologizing for all the wrongs that we've
done to Aaron Echblad.
Look, you look back at his draft class with hindsight,
maybe that's not the player that should have gone number one when you look at it right now,
but the player that most people would pick from that class would be Leon Dreisle. And he has been
effectively erased by the likes of Aaron Echblad, by Gustav Worsling, by these forwards. And it's
magical. And I can't believe that the Florida Panthers are just a win away.

confident against the lightning this is a different team your panther group chat no i think no but dude
you're you're so wrong on that we've been terrified of this team forever and i think there's a
different energy where the panthers they want the lightning. Stugats! I want t-shirts made for this Panther run, what could be this Panther run.
Our Panther group chat, we're not afraid of the lightning.
That's a tagline for World Rawr 3.
This is the Dunn LeBathar Show with the Stugats! I think it's a little unfair.
Like if I'm half kidding, I'm half kidding guys.
Come on.
You know, I love Chris.
I'm just saying that's F it's I mean, I'm kind of rooting for the home crowd to get a home, like, I don't want, like, look,
I said yesterday on the show, in theory,
I would be happy with a split in Edmonton,
but I'm gonna go into every game.
I'm not gonna be rooting against the Panthers on Saturday.
Like, I want them to win.
I'm just saying.
He's finding, he's not rooting against the Panthers.
He is rooting against Roy.
He's finding a silver lining
in case the Panthers don't win game four. It's funny content. He's doing a thing Panthers, he is rooting against Roy. He's finding a silver lining in case the Panthers don't win Game 4.
It's funny content.
He's doing a thing, guys, come on.
Roy being back in studio Monday, like, having lost.
I don't even understand why you want them to lose.
Like, I would understand you wanting them to like,
if they lose, then I can watch them win is one thing.
But like, you're doing it because you think it's funny
because Roy has to travel eight hours in each direction?
Yes.
I mean, it is funny because Roy has to travel eight hours in each direction? Yes. It is funny objectively.
Do we have some sats to justify what our eyes are kind of telling us a little bit? I'm probably
selling what Forestling and Barkov are doing short because I think everyone can kind of piece
together that hey, McDavid is this amazing player that we've heard about a bunch, and he's not scoring goals.
Again, he's third-leading goal scorer on that team.
Zach Hyman's not a huge marquee name to the casual fan,
but where is he?
Where is Leon Dreisaitl?
What are the stats that you got there, Jeremy?
Through three games, Connor McDavid is the only oiler
with more than one point.
So he is the only guy really contributing to that offense.
When you look on the other side and you wanna justify
Alexander Barkov as a potential Conn Smythe trophy winner,
he has eight multi-point games in this postseason.
Eight multi-point games, let alone everything he's doing
on the defensive end.
But Gustav Forsling, if you look at the length
of this regular season, and both Chris and Mike,
you guys have been talking about Forsling all year long
and how great he's been, if you take the regular season
and post-season, he has the best plus minus
of any player in hockey since 1990,
in a single year, where you-
Since 1990?
Since 1990 of taking a player and having their plus minus
with the regular season and post-season combined.
I believe he's plus 14 this postseason.
The only hope that I have on cashing this huge future
on Gustav Forstling, that and just.
That stat.
Yeah.
So let's circulate it on social media for you.
It is a counting stat that a lot of people look at.
It's not just why.
Their eyes are telling them that Darnell Nurse has been bad.
Darnell Nurse, for a moment, for a flashing moment,
was tied with Samson Reinhardt's dad.
That's right, Samson Reinhardt.
You thought Sam was short for Samuel?
Samson?
It's Samson Reinhardt.
That's incredible.
Yeah, his dad has the worst plus minus
in NHL postseason history.
He was tied with Nurse briefly,
but then Nurse was on the ice for a goal.
So Nurse, I think, has pulled ahead again.
The four sling stat, though, is misleading,
and I have a reason why.
Why?
He plays on the ice with Barkov a lot.
Ah, they rotate, I mean, the Blue Liners.
They're our top line guys.
Yeah, but.
Like, on the power kill, I mean, the penalty kill, like, they.
Two sides of that coin.
Like, Forstling unlocks a lot of stuff for Barkov to do.
It's as impenetrable a forward defenseman tandem as there is in the league, and we can
say that definitively.
However, as we're touting reasons as why someone other than Bobrovsky should be considered,
Kahn's my favorite, you do not have the counting stats that Sergei Bobrovsky has in the Stanley
Cup final and throughout the postseason.
When your team potentially wins the championship, there's no precedent really for that guy not
being the con smite.
It is just, if your team makes a run and you have, you shut down offenses the way that
Bobrovsky has, people are just going to look to that goal scored column and it's not like
Bob hasn't had huge timely saves
dating back to the Tampa series.
So I think Bob would probably get it.
Look, you can make,
I know I'm being like hockey hipster here,
but like Bob also deserves all this conversation.
To me, it's three guys that should be considered for it
and I concede that Bob is a favorite.
I'm not telling you what to think.
I'm just asking you to help me win my future.
My dad, if he nailed anything this week
or the last couple weeks,
it's that Sergei Bobrovsky is bad quotes-y.
Because I've like digested every second of post-game
for all these games, and he is just saying,
doesn't matter what you ask him,
he's going to say,
they have a lot of skilled players over there,
we're just enjoying the challenge.
I love it too, Billy, that's exactly players over there, we're just enjoying the challenge.
I love it too, Billy. That's exactly what you want to do.
We enjoy the challenge.
No distractions.
It's a fun challenge for us because they're so good.
Don't get too high.
It's basically his answer. It doesn't matter what you ask him. That's what he's going to
say.
But didn't you guys know that he has bad quotes in his blood when Roy asked him a question?
He's like, yeah. And then we had the guitar riff.
But the guitar riff was epic.
It was sick.
So it was a pretty good answer. It's a memorable answer.
So let's talk a little bit about basketball.
I understand, I actually think we've been fairly responsible.
And we've had minimal hockey coverage on this show
for our team making a run.
Really, I do.
Minimal?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It could have been pretty ridiculous.
And it's been reasonable.
I'd say the minimal championship coverage that
has been dedicated on this show has been to the UFL
championship game, which is this weekend.
That's what there's been minimal.
But for our team making the rock.
Many people don't even know that the championship
game is this weekend.
Three championships could be decided this weekend.
You know who's handing out the hardware?
It's crazy.
Championship City.
You know who's handing out the hardware?
Tom Brady.
Really?
Tom Brady's there.
Why?
How did he get roped into that?
Well, he's been at a couple games this year.
And also, I think The Rock is overseas filming a movie.
So I don't know if The Rock is going
to be able to be there to hand out the trophy.
There have been some pretty good stories when
it comes to the ratings.
Does Tom Brady have anything to do with that league?
Well, he has a lot to do with Fox.
And I think the championship game is on Fox.
Part of the contract stipulation, hey, we're going to give you $400 million
and you can get out a trophy.
How did they get that into the contract?
Do you think it was just like, all right, $375,
you're going to do your number one,
and then also you got to do the UFL,
then I go to the championship.
And he's like, what?
He thought it was the UFL, thought
it was a typo, someone fell asleep on the keyboard.
UFO?
I'm going to take the vine.
I didn't think that we'd talk UFL before we talked NBA finals.
I was trying to switch gears.
But if we have that video from Tom Brady,
and I don't know how many people have seen any of the Tom Brady
stuff, like a hall of fame as the NBA finals are going on
with a local team in your NBA finals.
There's a weird time to do this.
I would have thought that this would have gone closer
to the season.
But Tom Brady had something.
This showed up on my timeline, and people
were calling it one of the greatest
sports quotes ever. And I'm like, BS, what are we doing here? What are we assigning to Tom Brady?
And I gotta tell you, one of the best football quotes I've ever heard. Yeah, I mean, it's good.
It carries so much weight because it's also Tom Brady saying it, but I'll play you the clip
and let me know if you get Goosy's. I would encourage everyone to play football for
the simple reason that it is hard. It's hard when you're young to wake up in the
offseason at 6 a.m. to go train and work out knowing that all your friends are
sleeping in and eating pancakes. It's hard when you're on your way to practice, way down with all your gear, and it's 90 degrees out and all the
other kids are at the pool or at the beach, and your body is already
completely exhausted from workouts in two days. It's hard to throw, catch, block
and tackle and hit kids when they're way bigger and way more developed than you.
Only to go home that night bruised and battered and strained but knowing you
have to show up again the next day for the just the chance to try again. But
understand this life is hard.
No matter who you are, there are bumps and hits and bruises along the way. And my advice is to prepare yourself, because football lessons teach us that success and
achievement come from overcoming adversity, and that team accomplishment far exceeds anyone's individual goals.
To be successful at anything, the truth is you don't have to be special.
You just have to be what most people aren't. Consistent, determined, and willing to work for it.
No shortcuts.
If you look at all my teammates here tonight,
it would be impossible to find better examples of men
who embody that work ethic, integrity, purpose,
determination, and discipline that it takes
to be a champion in life.
A word salad for me. and discipline that it takes to be a champion in life.
A word salad for me.
Admittedly, gonna be tough to put that entire quote
on your weight room wall.
Small font there.
Let's put it on the whole wall.
Yeah, maybe there are portions of it.
And I gotta be honest, when I saw this video,
I was at a USA Brazil game, it was pretty loud out, so I was just reading the captions.
The tone also changes it a little bit.
Maybe I oversold it.
He looks great.
He looks great.
He looks fantastic.
And to get those words out with all that porcelain in his mouth,
that is also, I mean, he is basically,
what he is overcoming in that moment are his teeth.
He looks great.
I'm here taking shots at Tom Brady. Look at that bone structure.
Yeah, it's fantastic.
It's the best money can buy right there.
Misleading advice, though.
Like, if you're just not good,
it doesn't matter how hard you work,
you're still not gonna be good.
I don't think that's misleading.
No, he's kinda like, you just work hard and you'll be a champion in life. Yeah, but probably. There's a... No, he's kind of like, yeah, you just work hard
and you'll be a champion of life.
Yeah, but probably.
He's a six round draft pick.
Okay, but he...
Seven, take it from...
Seven throw.
Okay, but he's still drafted in the NFL.
He's still a Division I college athlete.
He's still very good, obviously.
It's not like if Jeremy worked as hard as,
no offense, Jeremy, if Jeremy worked as hard...
Jeremy's an Emmy award winning anchor.
Well, local, I mean, all right.
It's not like if Jeremy did the same workout
as Tom Brady that Jeremy would be Tom Brady.
He was all county honorable mention.
Oh, no.
First team all county.
Let's not get it twisted.
Jeremy has worked very hard in his craft.
Broward County.
Broward County baseball, baby.
Everybody is great at something.
I'm a firm believer in that.
And I was great at pitching in high school.
Yeah, and some people just haven't found it yet.
But you gotta work hard to get it.
You gotta work hard to get it.
Life is hard.
A little bit more base in the voice, and I'm telling you.
Can we get the entire quote on a t-shirt?
Get it tattooed on your back.
Like the entirety of that speech.
I actually thought it was pretty good.
Man, I really wanted to talk some Luca here.
Maybe we can do it on the other end.
I have a lot of things to say about Luca, Mike.
All right, let's hit pause on that and briefly,
let's talk about UFC 303.
I cashed my future in that Conor McGregor
was not gonna be fighting this month.
What is the injury sustained here?
Is it a sprained nostril?
So it's not a sprained or strained nostril as of yet.
Ariel Helwani, a friend of the show,
friend of mine has been doing a lot of good reporting
on 303 and on Saudi Arabia card,
Hamza Tchumayev out of that card.
So the UFC has essentially had two massive main events.
They're in shambles right now it seems.
June was supposed to be an incredible month for fight fans.
Did they take out insurance policies on McGregor cards?
No, because they're going to run it back.
McGregor, they're actually eyeballing either August,
September, or October for the next card.
Ariel has said he knows what the injury is.
He can't say what the injury is because it was off the record.
So the issue was before the Dublin press conference that was canceled,
McGregor sustained an injury. They don't really want to tell what it is, but Michael
Chandler was en route to the airport. He was going to fly over to Dublin to do the
press conference. They canceled it. There was optimism that the fight was going to
happen two weeks ago. Then last week there was some sort of pessimism about it.
And then all of a sudden Ariel says, hey look, the fight's off. They're redoing the main card.
Now it's going to have Alex Baheda versus Yoruba Haska 2,
which we saw at MSG at UFC 295 or 296.
I don't remember the number.
So that's going to be an interesting main event.
And we've got a new co-main event because Jamal Hill
and Carlos Ulberg is also off the card
because Jamal Hill got hurt.
But we got T-City Brian Ortega versus Diego Lopez
Which would be exciting the Mac is gonna be back at some point this year. Yeah at some point this year
We're gonna see him either in August or or September. They're gonna create a new pay-per-view for
Connor McGregor, what do you mean create a new pay-per-view because right now they've kind of got all their 304 305 306
Australia really so they're just gonna come out and say special McGregor
Chandler?
I think so.
They're trying to figure that out right now.
Obviously, the most important thing and the imperative thing
is to get Conor McGregor healthy.
The last time we saw Conor, he was
going into fight with Dustin Poirier, where he broke his leg
because he had an injury already.
When's the last time Conor McGregor won a fight?
The last time he won a fight?
Maybe sanctioned?
Four years ago? Four years ago. Because last time he won a fight, uh, maybe sanctioned or four years ago?
Four years ago. Last time he fought was three years ago. And the last time Tim
Hardaway jr. Made a shot from the field. Feels feels about right. He hasn't hit a
shot in 28 days. That's not a joke. That's not a joke. Tim Hardaway jr. Has
legit not hit a shot from the field since May 18th. He is the Mavericks third
leading score. And I have scored the same amount of points.
Real quick before we go to break,
what is the trolling that Jake Paul and Sean O'Malley
are doing?
I know that they're teasing stuff.
It doesn't seem serious.
Is this a prime thing?
What is this?
It's just a social media thing.
Right now, obviously the fight got moved
between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul to November.
Yeah, Perry's fighting Paul.
Mike Perry now has stepped in, and I don't know if that's
going to be boxing.
There's no way it's going to be bare knuckle.
Mike Perry's fighting bare knuckle right now.
But there's no way that's going to be bare knuckle.
I think Sean's just doing it to gas everybody up.
But right now, I think the fight to see, at least in the summer,
is going to be that Mike Perry-Jake Paul fight.
I think that's going to be.
That's the fight to see this summer?
In boxing?
Dude, we've gone from Iron Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul fight. I think that's the fight to see this summer. In boxing? Dude, we've gone from
Iron Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul and Conor McGregor versus Michael Chandler. Finally we see-
That was gonna be a banger too. And just an absolute doldrum of a combat sport summer season now.
In boxing, like Mike Perry and Jake Paul be fun. In UFC, it's gonna be Alex Pareda again coming in
to save the day. Like he's saved the UFC's bacon time and time and time again and he's gonna
do it again.
Backstreet's back, alright! Since the dawn of mankind we've cooked our food over an open flame and debated the best way to grill.
One thing not up for debate, grilling and beer always go together.
But not just any beer would do.
Whether you barbecue, text in style, or just celebrate Wednesday with burgers and dogs.
I love Miller Lite.
Every single time my team plays on television, I am sitting behind that television screen with a Miller Lite or three.
