I have now finally, exhaustedly,
and on behalf of our show,
all of Miami and Heat fans everywhere
arrived at great, great remorse
at how diligently and zealously
we have covered this Jimmy Butler story
because while Jeremy was super fascinated
by every last detail,
Stu Gott and Greg Cody totally checked out
on that conversation.
They were tired of Chris Haynes, Chris Haynes' notes.
They were tired of Jimmy Butler talk of any kind.
They wanted that segment to not be 20 minutes shorter.
They wanted it to be 35 minutes shorter.
I saw Stugat's light up only one time during it
and it was Haynes brief. That's it. I mean Jesus Christ enough about Jimmy Butler he does
not deserve the attention this show is giving it. Yeah yeah there's a little
Butler fatigue there it sort of went on and on and on. I could have asked 15 more
questions Greg there was so much meat left on that bone there's so much to the
story. It's boring. I feel like the bone has been picked pretty clean.
I mean, this is a 20 and 18 team
and a guy who hasn't played more than 64 regular season games
and then he sees it down here with the Heat.
I'm tired of hearing about what Jimmy Butler is upset about
and what he doesn't appreciate.
I don't want to... And I'm tired of the Heat, by the way, too.
And what they're doing, I'm tired of the story.
It doesn't deserve our attention.
No one cares. It's like the fourth time through this, too, right, with him? It's I'm tired of the story. It doesn't deserve our attention. No one cares.
It's like the fourth time through this too, right, with him.
It's like it's always the same.
Everybody knew this was going to happen.
And then, no, no, no.
He cultured. We're going to change him.
We're going to change Jimmy.
And then you go and you piss off every team around the league,
and you try to stride.
We're going to get Damian Lillard for absolutely nothing.
Like, no, the F you're not.
We're going to trade him anywhere but Miami.
And then you're convinced, you know,
because you've been going around just sweeping up superstars
all this time and now you're shocked
that someone wants to do it to your superstar
cause it's going the exact same way.
And now, now, what you've always benefited from
is happening to you and you don't like it.
And now you're trying to think you're gonna
hold some other team hostage and get rid of this malcontent
and somehow benefit your team.
And that's not the way this works whatsoever.
So you suspend him and he's going to come back and he's making his TikTok videos where
he's like, you know what, bosses should be more supportive, not so critical. And he's
taking all these veiled shots. And we somehow think that when he comes back from suspension,
things are going to be magically cured when they don't trade them at the deadline because
they want a King's ransom for Jimmy Butler, which they're not going to get.
Do we think that though? Do we think things are gonna be magically?
No, no, that's what they're trying.
That's the spin, the heat culture.
It's not interesting.
You guys can always be sucked right back into it.
No, I will not be sucked back into this.
That's the whole story.
35 seconds, we're done.
We don't need to talk about it ever again.
Why is there such a big difference?
Jeremy, I was looking at Jeremy's face, okay?
And whatever it is that is the exotic club equivalent
of money raining from the sky
because everyone is having the best of nude parties,
the look on Jeremy's face was,
please give me more information about
what Jimmy's upset by, why he's upset,
who's upset whom in this ego pride fest.
You guys are telling me you're tired of this story
I thought the juicy details of whatever it was was a breakup was the permission
We're giving ourselves at every turn to be interested in
Do you want to talk about Cade Cunningham or do you want to talk about how it's all screwed up with Zion and he's gonna
Be available to someone soon because the moment Jimmy Butler gets traded to Phoenix
We're going to be having a conversation about whether they're actually good enough to win the West
We will not have that conversation. They're not good enough to win the West get out of here
What are you crazy that a 35 year old Jimmy Butler with a 37 year old Kevin the Rant?
They're not winning anything as soon as that trade gets made
Will they become favorites in the West?
No, because OKC exists but people will fall in love with three big names winning now trying to win now
That is something that will you're not gonna tell me that that's not interesting to people like that's the interesting place for him to end up
It's exactly the kind of team that would take him on somebody
This is what he was supposed to do in Philadelphia
But it was in beads team and it was Ben Simmons his team and he had to play the role of the third guy
and he did it great and they lost to kawaii lennard by a shot and it was closer than imbied
whatever again he'd be going there to be the third guy i'd be interested if they were doing
this 10 years ago well i mean durant's 36 jimmy 36. I mean, Booker's young, that's great, but he's just one.
So.
All right.
So forgive me then.
I will go somewhere else conversationally if you're indeed tired of Jimmy Butler.
Back to the Pistons?
No, not the Pistons, although we could have talked-
Not even Detroit cares this much about the Pistons.
We could have talked about the Pistons for a while.
That was a fun game.
You don't want to talk about it because your Knicks are at the center of hope again.
This is their best team in a long time and at home
They got slayed by the Detroit Pistons
but the the thing I wanted to ask you that I got away from early in the show is Tony's expecting a
heroes return
From paternity leave because he's had a child and I thought we were going to celebrate that as a show, because I think he wants
a celebration of having a child,
and Billy doesn't want to celebrate it.
I'd rather talk about the Pistons of Jimmy Butler
than Tony, to be honest with you.
Tony, here's a behind the bit,
and I don't think you guys are aware of this.
So Tony, like.
This is behind the bit.
Let's be clear real quick, Tony didn't have a child.
I mean, he did, technically, but he didn't do
any of the whole thing.
He now has a child, but he didn't have the child. I mean he did technically, but he didn't do any of the whole thing.
He now has a child, but he didn't have the child.
I don't know if that was a necessary correction.
Well it is, I mean.
It always is.
I think someone thought he pushed out a child.
Who gives some credit to his wife?
He has a child?
Celebrate the wife, not Tony.
You want a little behind the bit,
so when we had the 24 hour marathon,
I think we told this story already,
when we had the 24 hour marathon,
it was Tony's like debut, and he made this entire bit
where he bought a Ric Flair costume and a robe,
and he had this feathery wig,
and he talked to all of his people that are here,
and he wanted this big unveiling of,
Tony is now part of Metal Arch Media
on the 24 hour marathon.
I'm like, bud, this isn't a Tony-a-thon.
Like this is a 24 hour marathon, no one cares. So like, the, this isn't a Tony-a-thon. Like, this is a 24-hour marathon.
No one cares.
So like, the big returns is something Tony
seems to really want at some point in time.
And did he say he wanted one for this?
Is that what's going on?
No, no, no, he hasn't said,
he did say he wanted one for Freedom.
He requested all of that.
The Feather Boa, the big introduction.
I'm gonna make the magical jump from producer
to star talent that was missed by Metal Arc.
And Bomani, do we get that sound?
Did we wrestle that away from ESPN?
I think we did.
The Who the Hell is Tony from Bomani Jones
was some legendary sound here.
On Tony thinks he's something around here
that he's not quite yet, but the way for him to become that
is to hustle his way into MMA shows
and have the audience caring about when he or his wife have a kid, because Stu Gatz is correct. that he's not quite yet, but the way for him to become that is to hustle his way into MMA shows
and have the audience caring about when he or his wife
have a kid, because Stu Gotts is correct.
He didn't do much of anything yet.
No, they don't, if we're gonna be honest.
The audience doesn't care if Tony is a kid.
You don't think that Tony Wiches a big party
for the having of a child?
No, no, I know that.
The audience doesn't care about Tony or his kid.
Well, or the Pistons.
Or the Pistons, or Jimmy, while we're at it, yeah.
Greg, you had a great show today.
You merged two hours.
Until the last hour and a half.
Well, you did tune out.
You give us two good hours every Tuesday.
We're good, Greg.
Yes.
For the rest of time, we will sign up for that.
Yeah.
It's good you didn't have the Jimmy Buffett segment first,
because I might have gotten drowsy.
Jimmy Butler.
Jimmy Butler.
Now I'm talking about the real deal over here. Yeah, $2. Jimmy Butler. I'm sorry, yeah, two dollars per month.
I always say that.
Who do you think's more connected to the Heat,
Jimmy Buffett or Jimmy Butler?
Wow, I would say Buffett.
I would say this.
I think that the Heat would retire something
for Jimmy Buffett before they would retire
something for Jimmy Butler.
I think you're right.
As things presently stand.
Hey, you kidding me?
Like, Jimmy Butler's jersey's ever gonna go up on the rafters? I don't think so. Come on, no way. things presently stand.
