Now's a good time to remember
where the story of Tequila started.
In 1795, the first Tequila distillery
was opened by the Cuervo family.
And 229 years later, Cuervo is still going strong.
Family owned from the start, same family, same land.
Now's a good time to enjoy Cuervo,
the tequila that invented tequila.

Hello, welcome to the Hockey Show. My name is Roy Bellamy. David D welcome to The Hockey Show.
My name is Roy Bellamy.
David Dwork from The Hockey News is also here.
We are about to talk about an interview that Bill Daley, who is the NHL
deputy commissioner, had with The Athletic this week.
But before we do that, I saw a little story
from the show called The Dark Side of the 90s, which is on Vice
TV and this particular-
Random stuff that you watch when you're off?
Yeah.
You know, just happened to be on television like, oh, wait a minute.
This looks interesting.
Yeah, this looks interesting.
This looks negative.
This particular episode is about this establishment that if you're married you probably
shouldn't be in. It's called SCORES. This is in the city of New York and...
Wait a minute. Yeah. Wait a minute. If you're married you probably shouldn't be in?
What do you think strip clubs are for? It's not for single people.
Well okay, talk to your wife about that then. Mrs. Dwork is... it's cool. She's
cool with the strip clubs. Okay, well Mrs. Bellamy is what it's cool. She's cool with the strip clubs. Okay. Well, Mrs. Bellamy is not
Yeah, so Rose Rose give the sideways thumb. Yeah, Oh Rose says thumbs up the strip clubs thumbs up the strip
Yeah, that's
That would be shocking. All right, so I just got outvoted. Yeah. Yes, you did
Rose you're gonna have to turn on the video pot for this one.
This is the third pot from the left that is up.
And this is a story about the 1994 Stanley Cup winning New
York Rangers.
And they celebrated at this establishment.
Play the video.
Well played.
Maybe 15 or 20 of the Rangers actually came there with the family call
and you're going to be nineteen ninety four after winning the nl
championship
the new york rangers celebrated scores
for the morning
more than just your money
they got completely trashed
they left the family called them
they forgot
the family called the football club everything and they left the Stanley Cup there. They forgot the Stanley Cup.
I had to do everything in my fiber not to take it.
I would have gave it back,
but I just wanted to take it for the night.
Oh my God.
Wow.
So yeah, the New York Rangers took the Stanley Cup
to scores and forgot it.
I have questions.
Of course you do. I have questions. Okay well
first off a recent experience tells us that there's always a Hall of Fame
individual with the Cup. Yes. So did that start after 1994? I had no idea. I had no clue.
Maybe they were having fun too.
But I don't know, because that's kind of like their job
is to be the designated cupper, or driver, or whatever.
Yeah, the keeper of the cup is supposed
to be responsible for keeping the cup,
or having the cup kept.
So.
And apparently, it was kept in a strip club,
because they forgot it there.
Oh man, I love the guy like,
in the interview, like I wanted to take it so bad.
Like that's how close we came to a Stanley Cup heist.
Like can you imagine if like that guy was like,
oh let me just take it to my buddies in Brooklyn.
We're just gonna hang out with the cup tonight.
Can you imagine the debaucherous things
that may have happened to the cup in scores?
I actually just was.
Okay, well there you go.
Yeah, it's, yeah. OK, whatever you go.
Bow chicka bow wow.
Bill Daly had a interview in the Athletic.
And one of the things they talked about was NHL expansion.
He said that out of the, I'll probably
say five major sports now, if you include Major League Soccer.
I mean, Major League Soccer has three Canadian franchises in
the league, I believe, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto. One in the NBA in Toronto, one in
Major League Baseball in Toronto. The National Hockey League has seven.
Alright, so there's that. He's trying to appeal to the United States in this
situation. The United States has three hockey teams in the New York area, if you include New Jersey.
And two in the Los Angeles area, if you include Anaheim.
So he's saying that there's basically 22 markets in the National Hockey League, while the other
sports have 30, 31.
Yeah, but see, when I read that, he's talking about,
you know, NFL has all these, is there gonna be
an NHL team in Cincinnati?
No, probably.
You know what I mean?
Probably wouldn't be the best place.
So, no, look, I feel like when you're talking expansion,
it's almost like you're playing the hits, right?
What are the first things that people say?
Oh, Atlanta.
Oh, Quebec City.
I mean, those would be the cities like Atlanta would be on its
third chance for our team. Quebec City would be on second and Arizona which is
the other one would be on its second as well. They also mentioned Houston which
has been a city that they've talked about for a long time. I like the idea of
Houston though it's a good sports town. Yeah and Kansas City which they do
have an arena. Yeah they built it that, it was a sprint center or something.
It's something out of a...
The Kemper Arena?
Whatever, but it's this big, beautiful arena.
I think they've had preseason hockey there.
I think the Miami Heat played a preseason game there a few years back, so they've been
trying to lure sports in there.
They've got the facility, which I feel like is a big hurdle in a lot of cities.
But I mean, just going through those lists, Atlanta's got an arena.
I don't know how much Phillips Arena is still,
if that's what it's still called even.
I don't know if that's viable,
it's been around for a while,
but Atlanta's got the arena.
They've got one in St. Louis, or in Kansas City rather.
They've got one in Quebec City.
I don't know how new it is,
but I know the Panthers are gonna be playing there.
The Panthers playing the Kings there in like
a couple weeks. Definitely not the Coliseum,
I'll tell you that.
Yes.
But I mean, you know like they got to build one in Arizona. Taxpayers do not
want to give billionaires money to build sporting venues. No. We know that. I mean
we've experienced that down here for a very long time until it actually happened.
And I don't know I just don't especially Arizona, I mean you saw how that played out.
Well that's the thing with the Arizonans or the Atlantis,
like if it's failed before, like I, you know,
if at first you don't succeed, but at the expense
of maybe a new market that hasn't experienced hockey before,
I mean look at the excitement that's happening
in Utah right now.
And look what happened in Seattle when the crack,
or Vegas, I mean these brand new markets
for hockey. I mean Vegas is like an interesting sports market in general, but like Seattle we've
known that like the Pacific Northwest is a great sports region. If they do have a new team in Atlanta,
like who are they inspired to have an audience to? Because you saw the Braves move from the Atlanta area move north to Cobb
County basically I would have to say white flight situation they wanted to
get out of there so I don't know if they want to use the old I don't even know
what the name of the arena is. The downtown arena. I doubt it. No that'd probably be part of like the
package to sell an expansion would be like oh here's a big beautiful brand new suburban arena away from downtown, Atlanta
Which like don't you need to lean into your non-traditional fan bases, especially in a new market
Yeah, he also mentioned that as far as talent is concerned they could fill at least several new teams right now
Especially with the talent level not not just here in North America, but in Europe and Russia.
Like, he feels like at least several teams can be filled out with this talent.
I don't think you're messing with the integrity of the game too much at this point, just because,
as you said, there's a lot of talented players.
Where I hesitate is like, we've already got 32 teams, half of which make the playoffs,
which is kind of a smorgasbord.
It's fun.
I feel like we got to fix the playoff format before we start adding teams to the mix
I mean, it's the playoff format is what basically what it used to be is divisional
No, I want it to go back to one plays eights to play seven, you know
Okay. Well, yeah, I mean, okay you can do you want to expand the playoffs? No, no, you want to keep it at 16?
Yeah, keep it at 16
It's plenty for playoffs and really if it ain't broke don't fix it the Stanley Cup playoffs are the best playoffs in all of sports
So you don't need to mess with it like that. Just just fix the seating. I mean, okay. Yeah, I mean, that's it
It wasn't broken and they broke it
Well, no, that's the thing like you can make that kind of a change that's annoyed a lot of people and it's still the best
Playoff in sports. Yes
So you're basically just kind of like cooking the steak a little bit better if you do it
that way.
Like you know maybe a little bit better of a side fix or seasoning.
But it's already great.
It's already four stars.

What about the Olympics?
What about the Olympics?
You talked about that as well. I'm excited that NHL players are going back to the Olympics? What about the Olympics? You talked about that as well. Yeah, I'm excited that NHL players are going back to the Olympics because I've got some
– just thinking about amazing Olympic memories that I saw growing up, whether it was like
– I mean, all minor, like Team USA coming close but not really getting there, whether
it was in Salt Lake City in 2002 or Vancouver in 2010, was that was that tournament was insane
Bob yes, I just don't want to relive the golden goal by a certain
But I feel like hockey is a sport is better when the best players are playing in the Olympics because the Olympics are amazing
They're epic. They love the Olympics so So you get the NHL players out there
and they care about it so much too.
Like it's right up there with Stanley Cup is here,
gold medal, I think it's right, you know, very close.
So I'm excited for the idea.
Who would you say would be the dream team
in this situation for Olympic hockey?
The dream, oof, I mean, off the top of my head,
Canada's kind of scary between the older generation,
the guy that you hate and the newer generation
of the McDavids and the, what's his name in Colorado?
Nathan McKinnon.
Nathan McKinnon, I don't know, I can never.
You can't remember Nathan, the heart trophy.
That's just the thing, it's been so long
since we've seen best on best at that level.
They've tried it with the hockey classic thing that they did a few years back, where they
team North America, the Four Nations should be fun.
They're going back to the World Cup, which is the other thing that once they get back
to the Olympics, it's going to be the Olympics, the two years later World Cup, then two years
later Olympics.
So we're going to get back into that kind of a routine, which is great, because feel like we've talked about it on this show before with different guests that best on best is
just something that all hockey fans crave.
Yeah.
So yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing that.
That should be international hockey is also great too.
So it should be fun to see.
The professional women's hockey league has named their teams finally.
It's not just location now they have nicknames.
It's not just Go P, it's not just Go PWHL Toronto.
Go PWHL Montreal.
No.
They got names.
Let's go team.
Like no, like so we got the names, we got the logos,
right we're gonna go through them right?
Yeah, we're gonna start with the Boston Fleet. They named themselves the Boston Fleet. Now
the logo kind of looks like the old Harford Whalers logo.
Like a Harpoon Whalers logo.
Yeah, the T is connected to the W in this situation, so there's no H. And it's a B.
So yeah, it looks like a Harpoon.
Okay. I mean, you know, Boston Fleet. Oh, Anchor, I should say. It looks like an anchor. Oh, it's a B. So yeah, it looks like a harpoon. Yeah, I mean, you know anchor
I should say it looks like an anchor. Oh, it's an it's an anchor. So yeah, so that's the logo for Boston
I like it. I like it. The the next logo is
the Minnesota frost
It's a frozen F
It's purple by the way this This looks like Frozone's logo.
A little nod to the Incredibles there.
To the Incredibles, also a nod to Prince.
Well, you gotta be purple.
You gotta be purple in this situation.
The Montreal Victory, they spell it V-I-C-T-O-R-I-E because they're French.
That's intimidating.
What is that was a bird I
I'm not sure what it is. I mean is there a Florida Lee in the middle there is that yeah
Yeah, as a Florida Lee as Florida Lee in the middle. It looks like
Phoenix I was rising I don't know whether to like it or hate it or what but it's got my attention
Like I feel like this one like that. That's that a logo, man. It's red. That's superhero logo, or a super villain logo.
That's the thing, I don't know.
It's maroon and blue.
It's Canadian colors almost, right?
You can say that.
The New York sirens is the next logo.
Now this one is stupid.
Oh my god, dude, this one makes me laugh.
I don't know what it's supposed to be
no come on it's New York City something police sirens and like literally like
you can see the it looks like this I looks like a police car yeah you know
what this is the one that like you're gonna you might make fun of the most but
I kind of love it because it's stupid no but I kind of like it like it's it's not
New York taking itself so seriously,
which always seems to be the case.
I like it.
The more I see it, the more it's growing on me.
Let's go sirens.
All right, the next one is the Ottawa Charge.
This one looks like a combination of the
Kigri Flames and Cleveland Cavaliers logos
if they had a baby.
It looks ridiculous, I'm sorry. The Ottawa Charge.
The Ottawa Charge. So it's an O. Well it's an O and a C. An O and a C. I know. No, no.
We're going to have to go with a no on that one. Yeah, I'm gonna pass. And the Toronto Toronto scepters they spell the scepters see CEPTRS because the Canadian I
So as a scepter I
mean I
Yeah, yeah
It's fine. Yeah, it's yes. It's me. It's a little nicer than man, but I it's a little nicer than man
It's a little nice
I mean
It doesn't like jump out and smack you in the face
the way the Victoria or even the sirens,
those, they grab your attention.
That one, it's like, oh, okay.
Thanks to Chris Creamer and sportslogos.net
for providing those logos.
Yeah, so that's basically it, man.
That's all we got right now this week for the hockey show.
That's the news.
That's the news. That's the news. That's the news.
So hopefully next week they come up with something.
We are this much closer to training camp. Oh my God. Next week. Yeah.
Next week. Next week.
The hockey show will be at Panthers media day because we live in South Florida.
Yeah. And hockey season. That was a short off season. Yeah, man.
It's always a short off season. Yeah man it's always a short offseason like the season ended late June and we are in September now and we're about to
get back started and I can't wait we're gonna be we're gonna be a preseason
we're gonna be at the home opener we're gonna see that banner raise to the top.
We have some plans for this hockey season with the hockey show we we got
some stuff cooking like Rose is back, things are percolating.
Yeah, thumbs up right now.
No, yeah.
You got anything to say, Rose, about what's coming up here in season two?
Oh, no, no, no. I'm gonna live it as a mystery and then we're gonna be aware because we're gonna be announcing things.
It's gonna be announcing things.
The hockey show.
Baited breath. It's gonna be a big season. It's gonna be announced we are the hockey show baited breath
Okay, it's gonna be a big season. It's gonna be a big season. All right. We'll see you guys next week. Goodbye
