Starting point is 00:00:00 Dude, that's right. You're odd sounds like the baddest stripper male stripper. Well, he is give it up for Nikki raw He's probably the best-looking guy in can jujitsu and the baddest guy. She's up there. Yeah, so that's impressive. Yeah There's not but there's not a ton of good-looking guys in jujitsu Vinnie Magalha Magalha She was a dime not not he's not Baba Vinny and it no when he was young. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, they're all a lot of good-looking guys Hey Hicks and Gracie when he was young Jesus Christ. Yeah, I said it On the documentary choke a current guy. Hey, shut up. I got gray hair This is really the fight on the kid
Starting point is 00:00:43 I wish the cameras had been on while we were talking to Nicky because I think it was essentially becoming the gay podcast once again because we were talking about Nicky's looks and- I'm just glad he got a lot younger in here. It got a lot younger in here. I had a question. My question to Nicky was, have you ever rolled with Hickson?
Starting point is 00:01:03 And then I was like, I pulled it back. I was about to ask that question you did ask that I asked it halfway I said that's not the question I was gonna ask and I said tell me you don't know Jiu-Jitsu without tell me you don't Know Jiu-Jitsu and that and then I was gonna say have you taken a private and then I was like I didn't want to So you're Nikki rods all the way down here and come off a big win. He's more money I think he has more money than both of us Now one million dollars one million bucks. He did it when they give you that as a million cash That's so they gave me a briefcase full of full of money
Starting point is 00:01:34 And I sprinted to the back and I was and I checked the money I was like just trying to make sure it's not real and it's it's fake money, but they cut me a fat check That's the way to do it. You don't want to be strolling around Vegas with a briefcase full of a million dollars. I would need to buy a gun to drive it home. 100%. It's too dangerous. And for you, with Craig Jones Invitational,
Starting point is 00:01:54 obviously there's some drama with ADCC, all that. And you actually won the damn thing. The differences, were you surprised? Because I was surprised going into it before you answered. I was surprised what, what Craig did is unheard of. Like he's a pioneer where you're going against the machine. ADCC is, you know, the tradition, the foundation's insane. It's the pinnacle of Jiu-Jitsu forever. So he's going against that.
Starting point is 00:02:19 And also to pull off just the, the promotion side of things, the, the, the camera, all like it was so well done dude, so well done. And just with the live audience too, like to pull that off, it would be like, uh, try in the hay day, in the hay day of, um, like Woodstock going right next door and starting your own fucking concert that you have nothing and you're competing against the best. But the answer whole lot but a good answer you had the differences were you surprised that how well it went how kind of they're just the transitions all that stuff it went so well it did it went incredibly incredibly well
Starting point is 00:02:56 especially for the time like like they did in three months going against somebody had two years to prepare yeah Yeah, man. It was truly impressive, the show, how well organized it was. And after competing in the alley with walls, like I don't want to compete without walls. Like every time, tons and tons of times in Jiu Jitsu, you run out of bounds, the ref has to reset you, it gets a little wonky in there,
Starting point is 00:03:20 but here there's no ref interference. So you know at CJ, they have the walls. I saw that, yeah. And what got my attention was the million dollar prize. I remember just going, hold on, like you know, ADCC and all that stuff, it's all good, but I heard million dollar prize for a casual observer. I was like, I'm paying attention now.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Because what Craig did, he went, because you know he's competing in all that, anyone's, you know, ball Stevenjitsu like this ADCC it's obviously it's the pinnacle it's great when gold there it's I mean it's insane you're the best in the world but the the amount of money that competitors are getting so Craig go be them have that experience at ADCC went hold on well they're making all the money it's not going to the players going to the jujitsu players so he just flipped the script and so the money. It's not going to the players, going to the jujitsu players.
Starting point is 00:04:05 So he just flipped the script. And so the money goes to them instead of to these other... He's such an amazing troll. Craig. Yeah. He'll say amazing things where he'll be like, no, if you want to be the best at jujitsu, it's probably good to be autistic. And then if you add autism with steroids, you can really win.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Like you know what he you know Who he's talking to certain people and it's just hilarious It's funny But then also think about what he did with Gabby just that at that you like yeah Even no matter how you feel about it like I watch that sure so that right away like got it rolling in the media then you get legit guys like you competing and It's just interesting because you know CGI is like this completely different thing and they have ADCC and then you have you over here,
Starting point is 00:04:47 you have Gordon Ryan over here, right? So you have the two kind of arch nemesis competing over here literally up the street from each other. Yep, yep, absolutely. What's interesting too about CGI is that they made all their money back. So it's like, why can't ADCC pay us some hefty checks? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:05:04 Yeah. They're going to have to now, right? Well, I was just gonna say before they didn't have to. It's like the UFC when people are like, oh, fighter payer, change this, or they keep doing fights at Apex Center. The UFC's going, why? There's no competition.
Starting point is 00:05:17 So the UFC's like, we don't have to do anything. Well, the UFC have fighters on contract, right? I don't think Jiu Jitsu has contract. Well, remember fighters are independent contractors so it's very similar but also there's no competition right so for ADCC the the the equivalent there is there's no there was no competition ADCC was the only one in town right and then Craig came along and was like no no check this out so now this is good competition is good oh yeah because ADCC can't just keep doing what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:05:46 And then you got guys like you legit fucking dudes, best in the world, winning. So it just brings validation. Now in your brain, you've got jujitsu, and you've got trucks, and we're going to get into all of that. How much of your brain, I would imagine, as a competitor like yourself, who's as good as you are, how much of your day, and I would ask the same thing of Gordon Ryan is taken up
Starting point is 00:06:07 with Gordon Ryan images of Gordon Ryan because that's the thinking about him just in terms of what I mean by that you want me to go you want to go yeah you got it zero but that's their challenge no no no no we're different people or Gordy thinks about his enemies all the time and gives him motivation or whatever. I just focus on myself. We're different people. Right, so you'll think about that when you see him. When if you guys- Not even, even when we grapple.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Like, you know I bet him a million dollars to do a match. After he won he bet Gordon a million. Yeah, yeah. So because- That's bossy. Because previously- They've competed before though. Yeah, he competed before, both previous previously they've compete before though Yeah, you compete before one once both when I was a brown belt right and I'm brown bat with only three years of experience Right right now. I have double I've six years of training just so you know he went from Wrestling division three wrestling was a stud wrestler right went to that and then just catapulted on the grappling scene and was competing,
Starting point is 00:07:05 uh, with a cyborg, a braille records. You want to draw with the one that we know, you had wrestled in high school one year of D three and then you, you decide to start doing jujitsu, but you're, you're like, that's not a lot of time to be that good. Well, yeah. I mean, I was, the thing is like with jujitsu, it's a very, like, there's not a lot of time to be that good. Well, yeah, I mean I was the thing is like with jujitsu It's a very like there's not a lot of athletes in there There's a lot of people that use steroids so they think they're athletic they're strong, but there's not a lot of high-level athletes
Starting point is 00:07:34 So so when I hopped on the scene, it was like my work rate was so much higher Yeah, I didn't know anything, but I just get these big guys tired and you know get past the guard win on advantage But I just get these big guys tired and you know get past the guard win on advantage Your athleticism because of that he's also gonna play that traditional jiu-jitsu game like there's a dance Yeah, and then when you come in they're playing, you know classical and he's playing fucking hard rock They kind of don't know what to do right because not gonna go down to the guard. He's gonna shut down the Cuz I said If you were to take a class from Hicks and you said I'd ask him to teach me guard because I don't know I don't know. Yeah, which is so I would think you'd be a master at guard. Please explain. Yeah, dude
Starting point is 00:08:13 I well when I first started Jiu-jitsu, I was training with like the best guys in the world like literally three months in into me starting jiu-jitsu my buddy Jay my coach at the time Jay reggaibouto got me a Got me a private under with Gordon. So I did the private We talked some jiu-jitsu then he invited me at the training and then I went to the first training system Session on the John denner and then just stuck there ever since so practically since day one I went from knowing no moves to trying to survive every day in the toughest room in the world So I had Gordon I Craig Jones I had
Starting point is 00:08:49 Nikki Ryan Gary Tone and all these phenomenal grapplers beating my ass and I had no knowledge So I just I was trying to survive half the time and the other half the time trying to learn but then we think about it Because he's such a good athlete so he's downloading that download download But then also you have a wrestler's work ethic and mentality. So download, download. So the gap gets pretty narrow. Those guys, from what I understand, in that studio work their ass off and never miss a day, right?
Starting point is 00:09:17 Different though. Yeah. Why? Different. Why? Different because his athletic ability and wrestling ability. So his base, that base that he started from that wrestling base, he already has an advantage.
Starting point is 00:09:28 So when you take that wrestling base and then you add their knowledge and his athleticism, and then there's a work ethic, there's not enough hours in the day for a true Jiu-Jitsu to catch up with them. Yeah, I think I would agree with that. And yeah, most definitely under John Dan, her we trained seven days a week like 365 that's John. Um, yeah, but I don't think that's I don't think that's the best way to do it Like now I'm a bit more mature I've I've studied tons of other professional athletes guys are the best in their field and everyone says like you need time for
Starting point is 00:09:59 Rest and recovery. Oh, you mean be a professional? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Also, like, I'm a natural athlete. I've been my whole life. And I think with that, you need rest and recovery. And that's something I did this camp leading up to CJI that I was adamant about taking it one day off and tapering prior to competitions why I had such a decent peak when it came go time. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Yeah, because even in fight camp, it's not like you're not full throttle to the night before the fight. And even in football, it's all about peaking and timing and getting rest. So when you get there, you're at your pinnacle. Because if you're just firing in fifth gear the entire time, by the time you get to that fight, you're exhausted.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Yeah, my experience with watching pro athletes train and even getting to come in and just fuck around is how little Well, how careful they are number one about just and how what all the things they don't do So they're very specific about their training. I'm talking football my experience when with football and how they how they train they're not They're not doing that CrossFit shit. They're not doing this. They're not depleting their body. They're they're working on specific things I mean, there's a time to grind. Sure. But I'm sure when they're with you, it's just different. You're getting them in the off season.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Yeah, I'm getting them in the off season, which is different than, okay. Yeah, that's wild, man. Yeah, it's a good time. I love what I do. Just have fun. Do you think, so here, you know, Gordon's my boy. Love you.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I like both of you guys. It's like Drake and Kendrick. I like both of them, you know, I like both you guys. I, it's like Drake and Kendrick. I like both of them, you know? I don't want to be in the middle of it. But I do think like when you see Gordon compete at ADCC, clearly still stud, but it's not the Gordon from like, what is that, 2020 was just fucking steamrolling. He was also sick.
Starting point is 00:11:40 He was also- That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and he's older. So it's like- He's, we're the same age. Different though, right? With the miles. Yeah, and he's older so it's like he's we're the same age Different though right with the miles. Yeah, I know more miles. I've had 300 wrestling matches a hundred you just met with miles Well, I think health concerns, maybe right? I think that's self But he had that fungus right so I think he genuinely from the
Starting point is 00:12:02 Anabolic or antibiotics. Yeah, so I think that he he has a genuine I don't know why Jordan get Gordon gets hate though. He's so great Like he's like for me Gordon Ryan is is a work of art. I would say the same thing about you So somebody who has won? I know the background actually a little bit, but I, but I, I just, this is good because for me, when I see Jordan Gordon Ryan, I think it's like, it's just to be in a winner, an extreme winner that and to finish constantly and be that good. And people I don't think realize, and I have some insight on this.
Starting point is 00:12:43 He is truly like for him being nauseous all the time. He's compromised sick all the time. I mean, just don't want him to pull out of this last ADCC. Yeah. So he's still got it done, but again, it wasn't the Gordon. We're used to seeing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:55 So my only thing, if you guys compete, like I w I wish it was, I mean, you know, I'm sure you do too. I wish you guys competed earlier. You know, I didn't know any moves. I was just training for three years I wish you guys competed earlier. You know, I didn't know any moves I was a trainer for three years Anything and now you're but I sold the be caveat with this also the rivalry you guys have is exactly what jiu-jitsu needs This is why I'm excited for ten fucking years with ADCC This is why what Craig's doing is great you we need these rivalries You need the Jordan magic door the magic bird you need the the Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. We need this
Starting point is 00:13:35 Yeah, super old school, but you need that right? Right, it's all Charlie Chaplin. No, you need this dude. So it's like great as much you guys hate each other. Whatever, dude I'm sure at the end of day it's all good Like you both great at what you do and what you guys are doing brings people to the sport Let's talk about leaders for a second home that some of those packets of joy mode. Oh And you know, I guess some cardio in well I said to myself Let me see what happens if I take some some clinically supported supported doses of Argonine, nitrate, L citrulline,
Starting point is 00:14:07 all natural vitamin C. I'm talking about back by science. Let's see what happens when I take something that promotes nitric oxide production and penile tissue relaxation. I'm going to say this. My penis wasn't exactly relaxed. He was tan hut. If he was a Marine, if he was a Marine, he'd be like at ease, soldier at ease. Marine, not soldier, Marine as you say for Army, sorry. Bro, let me tell you something right now. Give it a shot.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Give it a shot. Did you have any side effects? I sure didn't. I sure didn't. Consume anywhere with 45 minutes to four hours prior to sexual activity. You will notice better blood flow, better erection quality and firmness, and increased sexual energy and drive.
Starting point is 00:14:50 That wiener's ready to go, huh? If you want to spice things up in the bedroom, try a little Joy Mode, try a little Joy Mode. Go to Try Joy Mode. Yep, go to tryjoymode.com slash fighter. Enter fighter at checkout for 20% off your first order See what happens you might spice things up. That's try Joy Mode dot com slash fighter. Yeah Um, no, I don't hate them. I don't hate anybody really
Starting point is 00:15:15 I don't like my life like that, right? Yeah, but um as far as like the drama like so pretty much we were we were teammates right three years or so drama like so pretty much we were we were teammates right three years or so and then we team separated I blew my arm out like a year before ACC took me a while to recover not only physically but mentally because I lost my coach lost a few guys from the team so I really had to like find myself lost them well like they like we separated so we're not. Yeah, team broke up. Yeah, so John Denner, my main coach, like and when I get coached by somebody, like whatever they say, they say is God's word. It's like Avatar. Yeah, I have no doubt. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:15:55 Yeah. So to separate him was really, it was tough. It was tough on my mind. You know what I mean? So had to figure out how to, how to get past that that and then we go to a DCC have some success and Gordon leg locks Me in the finals, right? So I'm like, I Gotta get better. So three two months go by I'm working on leg locks every day and then we go to UFC fight pass and Gordon's opponent pulls out I step in so I go from getting leg locked in 80 CC two months later studying getting better and then I break his foot in a similar leg entanglement. And then it was a very close match,
Starting point is 00:16:29 and he won via time and overtime. I had him like fucking reenact a choke locked up, and he taps after the bell, right? And then he goes on the mic. This was like, there was no drama really leading up to this. And then he goes on the mic, he's like, the reason why Nicky Rod broke my foot is because he was greasing. I was like I was okay I got something for you. I'm not a cheater, you know, never did any PDs, which isn't really cheating into Jits
Starting point is 00:16:55 You could do whatever, you know Yeah, yeah, but um, especially like greasing it's it's a character thing, right? It's not my kind of character So then we go so I don't I don't say anything right after because I knew I had no I had the mark Bell power power a project podcast so I go on there they asked me they're like why is Gordon so great I was like well if I'm being honest, it's because all the steroids he's abusing and That was in response to him saying you're greasing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Yeah in the response that and which is it's public knowledge Like he said he talks about it. He's talked about it before so it shouldn't be that big of a deal
Starting point is 00:17:31 but he had this like big freak out over it and That's kind of how the how the drama started. So then after another match, I bet him 50k to have a Another rematch. He's like no I got too much money 50k is nothing so Nowadays I'm but all for a million another rematch he was like no I got too much money 50k is nothing so nowadays I'm all for a million. I mean Jesus I'm excited. A million yeah but again I think keep it going I think it's all good for the sports exactly what you guys need to get on the map. And Gordon's great for the sport because he trolls and he answers back. He tries to it's so funny when he tries to troll Craig Jones You can't you can't get a social media argument with Craig. He's too witty
Starting point is 00:18:08 Yeah, he's tough. He's tough smart, dude. Yeah, he's but all but all you I'm a fan of all of it all you guys I like it all man It's exactly what you guys need to get on the map and people are talking about what Craig's doing people are talking about it It forces jujitsu athletes to pick size. But there's also a difference, it's not just trash talk. It's backed up by a lot of skill. It's one thing to talk a lot of trash and you're just talking trash and you're just okay.
Starting point is 00:18:33 But, you know, Craig Jones, Nicky Rod, Gordon Ryan, I mean, you don't get better than that. Well, the reason it works is because you guys can figure it out on the mat. That's why it's intriguing. It's not like social media beef or like journalists or podcasters talking shit because no one's going to fight. You're never going to see it.
Starting point is 00:18:52 There's no ending. Like there's an ending. Like that million dollars, take my fucking money dude. Start a GoFundMe to get you guys to fucking do it. I'm in. When you're like faced off against somebody of the level that Gordon Ryan is or Craig Jones, how do you like Any mistake you make can be fatal, right? You got to be really careful Well, I think it just comes down obviously preparations uber important how you attack preparation
Starting point is 00:19:16 Well, okay on that so preparation meaning sometimes somebody will give you a look that you haven't seen before or something Is that what you're talking like so you just got to be aware of his style, what his tendencies are. I don't think they're going to give him any looks he hasn't seen. I think it's more so understand their style. Do they want to use your opponent? Want to be on top? Is he going to pull guard? Is he a leg locker?
Starting point is 00:19:35 Is he a wrestler? Right. You know, so you can base your camp, your training for that guy specifically. And then how you approach competition. I think like, I think previously I would be too focused on what my opponent's gonna Do like with their potential reactions, but nowadays I just solely focus on myself Like I don't even see who I'm competing against when I'm on the mat. You're just reacting. I'm just reacting. Yeah, I'm flowing I'm reacting. It's more about you. Yeah, but I've built those reactions and exactly. It's more about me
Starting point is 00:20:02 It's it's less about like like too often people compete and they think about what's happening in the future, the past success or past downfalls that they've had. And it's like, it's really about being absolutely present, living in the moment and just appreciating the moment. Yeah, I think what we're seeing now in Jiu-Jitsu is like, when, I mean, this is old school, but it's like when Chuck Liddell, Tito, Randy Couture, remember when there's all that bad blood and like that got people excited about it.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Now they're like, you know, the Godfathers kind of, especially for new kids. They're like on the Mount Rushmore. Like that's what you guys are doing. You guys are those right now. Yeah. There are a lot of young people watching everything you guys are doing. Yeah. In tune with it. And they love it. Like they see it on social media and the trash talk and like, Oh, this is sick. You know? Yeah. I'm'm also gonna have a ton of kids So my name is gonna live on when I have my there's five weight classes. They're very Gracie of you. Oh, yeah
Starting point is 00:20:53 I mean they did 20 something. Yeah, I hate 30 And they can and you're gonna have all the kids but he's gonna be a good dad. Yeah Yeah, yeah, we'll be there Yeah, yeah, yeah present. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll be there Are you gonna choose and you have a girl I only do boys I've studied very graceful of you right now people ask me like oh like oh, how do you know? You're gonna have a boy whatever. I was like, bro. If you study the enemy, it's 80 20 you increase your odds I bought a book. I talked to I talked to my business partner Seth that has only three boys. Talked to Tim Kennedy.
Starting point is 00:21:27 He was like, and you know. Yeah, Tim has it down. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I studied it, brother. I know what's happening. Dude, you better be careful about tempting the fates. You could have ten girls. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:21:36 I got one boy, and this is how I know my studying pay off. You already have a boy? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's two months old. Jack's fucking walking around already. No problem. He's a boy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he's two months old Jack's fucking drop walking around already Refusing to do go He posted a great video when he won the million dollars him and his son. He's playing the million dollar song. It's fucking Yeah, yeah, it's a good time Fuck was I saying? Yeah, boys boys. Oh, yeah boys versus girls. Yeah, okay
Starting point is 00:22:04 so this is how I know that my my preparation worked because I Came in her only one time until we found out the sex, right? So it wasn't like I was just blasting in there I was like, this is the right time do all the things that I needed to do bust the nut and then wait a few weeks So that we get the blood test and it's like she was like, what do you think it's gonna be? I was like, it's a fucking boy. I did this shit, you know what I mean? It's science, dude. It's science, bro. Holy shit, dude.
Starting point is 00:22:29 That's astonishing, because guys like you, guys like you, race car drivers, special ops guys, always have girls. And there's a tendency, I guess, if you're not careful. You gotta study, brother. You gotta study. It's about technique. So you keep your body temperature lower?
Starting point is 00:22:44 You bring it down? I run hot. There's no low for me. I'm sweating right now. No, so there's a few techniques that I used. Timing's really important. You know, you gotta track your ovulation. My chick didn't know what was going on,
Starting point is 00:22:56 so I surprised her. So. How long you been with your chick? Like, since I was like 19. Oh good. Yeah, yeah. Before you made the money. Yeah, Yeah. For sure. For sure. So I try track the ovulation, right? Peak, peak ovulation.
Starting point is 00:23:10 It's really like the city. Yeah. You leave nothing to change. She had no idea. And what's his name? Lewis. My dad's middle name. Have you always been this particular about everything? Like this focused? Yeah, I mean, I'm just me. You just like to win. Yeah, I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:34 But you came up that way because his brother's a stud too. Yeah, my brother is a stud. Where does this come from though? When you were growing up, your dad, you got from your pops? Definitely from my dad. I have a great family like mom and dad like you know mom's a great stay-at-home mom and dad works his ass off like he had two jobs by my whole life his main source of income was flipping houses so ever since I could pick up a hammer I'd be I'd be helping him out and he's a Philly kid be yeah
Starting point is 00:24:02 yeah yeah for sure so that's my dad owns a bunch of properties in Philadelphia and I knew like early on I was like I don't want to be working on houses forever my dad would tell me he's like whatever you do in life you're gonna have to work this hard just make sure something that you love good friend so it made it much easier for me simple simple philosophy dad leading by example clearly work because you and your brother are studs yeah yeah we got it down for sure yeah I agree that and your brother's studs, man. Yeah, yeah. We got it down for sure. Yeah, great dad. And your brother's in Austin?
Starting point is 00:24:27 Yeah, he lives with me. We train together, live together, eat together. Yeah, it's a good time. And how close is he to reaching the height you've reached? Well, my first ability to make money was taking second at ACC World Championships in 2019. And he just took second this year, again, with only three years of training. God damn, good boys, man. So now he's probably going to make 250k at second this year again with only three years of training. God damn boys. So now he, now he's probably gonna make 250 K at least this year.
Starting point is 00:24:47 And how much, um, did you earn when you play second at ADCC? Yeah. So seconds only $5,000, but the, but the year, uh, I made about 250 the first year and then it went up about sponsorships, uh, yeah, winning tournaments, instructionals, and then it went up about a hundred K every year since and that the big thing to be Like the bit you gotta have hopefully you have a good manager But the business plan for them to a guy like him at his level the seminars man You make so much fucking money to your balls are as long and gray as yours really and just do seminars
Starting point is 00:25:22 Yeah, especially if you have his act, you know all his awards and accolades like you can do seminars you fucking blue in the face seminars are great what we do now is that we sell a ton of merch at BT Jiu-Jitsu so we have we have a gym in Austin and we can make money through the gym but the main money is through the YouTube and the and the merch merch merch goes and is it is it, just of the team or is it Nikki rod merge? Um, it's just, uh, it's of the team. So we, we split it like a five ways with all our business partners. And who's on the team?
Starting point is 00:25:53 It's me, uh, our business partner, Seth, Craig Jones, Nikki, Ryan, and Ethan. Ah, some big names. Yeah. Yeah. And then, um, and then we do customer as well, like where, uh, you know, if it's my merge, I'll take a bigger percentage, but can we get merch says i'm a rod or something like that, you know i'm saying Yeah, team rod team rod. He's good team rod would be sick. Yeah Yeah, I have a million dollar grappler rash card coming out soon. Just place the order. Yeah, dude
Starting point is 00:26:19 That's the other side to it is like you guys are becoming businessmen too Like see what you want about goren like good businessman, makes a ton of money off his seminar, like tons of money off seminars. You guys, it's like, you gotta be more than just these elite grapplers, like your businessmen. And the UFC fighters could learn so much from that, because you guys are forced to do it, because you don't, you know, you made a million bucks,
Starting point is 00:26:40 but that's, you know, once in a blue moon, once a year, you know, hopefully more, but for right now, it's about once a year. Yeah. Well, I mean, I w I'd make almost a million without the, like with sponsorships and without the CGI money as well. So I'm learning. I'm learning how to make some money for sure.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Good for you, brother. It's dope. Yeah. It's so unique. It's so new. Like it was never, I mean, you're going to get an influx of kids that when they see the money that start start start doing it So well, you'll get probably also a higher level of athlete, right? No. Yeah, I don't know depends
Starting point is 00:27:11 I I do things are this is this was my guess since I started I think that we're gonna get a lot more NCAA wrestlers I'm more Penn State guys be like I could fight get punch in the head or I could Learn this jiu-jitsu for a few years and make some real money even the Chick that one she's the youngest gold medalist of all time for the US they asked her after she won the gold like oh you want to fight MMA She's like I have no desire and now if there's a lane for this and like hey you can make You know a few million just grappling. She's like oh shit. I'm gonna do that who wouldn't why the fuck Would you want to get punched the face?
Starting point is 00:27:45 I was the UFC in hurts brother my mom smacked me a couple times. That's good enough Nah, man, get hit in the head and stuff like that. Nobody walks away from that unscathed. It's brutal. It's a brutal gig No, man, also there's not much you can do like like as far as like the seminar side of things like unless you're a super Outlander it's not really that profitable. Yeah, and MMA seminar is not going to do the same as Jiu Jitsu. That's not too popular, huh? No, not at all. Guys that do like GSB would do it. Diaz Bros did it.
Starting point is 00:28:11 But again, it's not like what you guys do. That's maybe to other fighters, right? Like the guys who were, I don't know. I mean, Jiu Jitsu is a whole different thing. Because you've got kids. I'm going to put my kid is in Jiu Jitsu. My son does Jiu Jitsu. Shaven wrestles, as well.
Starting point is 00:28:22 He is. He's also wrestling. He wrestles, and he does Jiu Jitsu. And this yearles as well. He is. He's also wrestling. Yeah. He wrestles and he does jujitsu. And this year he's actually, because his school doesn't have a wrestling team, he's going to be wrestling with the school right next to him. So he's going to be on that team. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:35 So, so. If I had to pick though, as a dad, I've had to pick wrestling and jujitsu. I'd pick wrestling. Yeah. Okay. Shake the mentality. Problem is he's in Santa Monica. You can find it.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Well, we found a club. So he's in a club. Well, that's wrestling. But he loves Jiu Jitsu too. Yeah. And by the way, if I had to pick, it would be like, you can only do one, it'd be wrestling. But the wrestling he's doing now, like he's, none of the other kids, he's shooting singles and doubles now.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Yeah. Arm drags, all the stuff he's learning. So, and he loves it because he feels like he's, it's translating. Yeah. Wrestling is, wrestling coaches are also like mental, mentality coaches. He's learning so and he loves it because he feels like he's trying it's translating. Yeah wrestling is Wrestling coaches are also like a mental mentality coach. That's what I'm saying. Oh, yeah I've never met a rest wrestler with a bad work ethic never like it We haven't had it happen, but if there's an employee out there and they have wrestling on their resume. That's your guy There's a work ethic hundred percent. Yeah, I always remember things in my wrestling coaches at all me like I remember I remember one thing that really stuck out
Starting point is 00:29:27 I was like I must have been like 15 years old in offseason training, right? And I was the most tired I've ever been in practice and maybe I was like pouting or something and my coach comes up to me He was like No one cares about you Yeah, and it was like a soft feeling sorry for yourself. No one cares. I was like, you're right. It's just me about you. Yeah. And it was like a soft feeling. Sorry for yourself. No one cares. So I was like, you're right It's just me out there. Yeah As a kid, you're like, yeah, like yeah, it's not early man Yeah, and also I just like what wrestling is about the foundation of it how hard it is
Starting point is 00:29:57 There's nothing harder mentally and also you never hear what did you hear guys like? Oh, I can smoke weed. I get more creative Okay, you'll never hear a wrestler, but I I can smoke weed, I get more creative, okay. You'll never hear a wrestler be like, oh, I just smoke weed, man. Like, go out there and get creative. What? Never. No, I gotta run hills. Never.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Sucker and suck weight. Yeah, yeah. With- Toughest people I know are wrestlers. Yeah, and with wrestling, so I would imagine you also work, you work with wrestlers, don't you? Yeah, I have guys stop by, like Jason Knopf stopped by on the B-Team a few times when it's wrestling.
Starting point is 00:30:28 But it's a different thing. Like the lack of shoes, no traction, more scrambly. It doesn't end if your knee's hit the ground. So it's definitely a difference unique. And I'll have more. I think the best wrestlers for jiu-jitsu are the Penn State guys. I think their style Because they always have long sequences. It's never just like one or two attacks. It's like transition transition transition
Starting point is 00:30:51 Yeah, they're always down for the scramble. So I think there's their style is very very Favorable but also with wrestling there's so much that you can do where you're you're the top game is basically you're controlling their Head and hips, right? So so so they can negate a lot of it. Yeah. Be black. Did you figure that out right away? Just kind of whether if I keep his hips stationary or off the mat or on the mat, there's not much you can do at this point. Right? Well, I would say my early days of Jiu-Jitsu, like I didn't know too many techniques.
Starting point is 00:31:19 So I knew I could win by by aggression and attack. So what I would do is I was like, alright, these guys can't take me down So once I get on top, I would just do anti jujitsu shut all their defenses down and then try to do like explosive Like really draining movements nowadays the more jujitsu that happens in the match than what's gonna benefit me So I really get it to the ground as soon as possible and start applying pressure to I pass and control and submit. Mm-hmm Can we talk about Alaska dude? It's all I think about. Best trip ever. Best trip ever. But do you like to fish and make money? Dude, if you tell me they have some competition going on where you can get
Starting point is 00:31:55 25,000 worth of cash prizes and 25,000 grand prize, I'm gonna freak out. You talking about Sportsman's Cove Lodge? Dude, alaskasbestlodge.com. Listen, you got excitement, competition, camaraderie, and that's what happens when you take a fishing trip where you get tired of cranking in all those fish. Dude, feel bad for them halibut. Get ready because these boys going for 25 large ones. You can compete for $25,000 worth of cash prizes and $25,000 grand prize. Alaska's best lodge.com. Alaska's best lodge.com Alaska's best lodge.com use code T F a T K T fat K at
Starting point is 00:32:32 checkout for buy one, get one trips limit of one person. There is a very limited, you'll see why when you go trip I've ever done. Yeah. Alaska's best lodge.com. Unbelievable. Yeah. I'd love to see and Bo nickel offered He's like I'd love to see a
Starting point is 00:32:48 Division one champ going to jiu-jitsu. He like offering money. I think at a ADCC or the CGI I remember both put that because I would love for Bo to come over and compete against you Gordon like he's a massive name in the UFC. I'd love for him to compete some of that stuff now He has to focus on his striking like that's kind of his issue in MMA. He's getting a lot better He's a fucking I think he's me world champ. I agree 100% if I had to bet on any racehorse, that's my guy Yeah, that's my fucking guy He's so like it like somebody can master wrestling like that
Starting point is 00:33:20 Like it also has the has his a, his co, his coaching staff, like incredible coaches. They not approach it physically and mentally. Like I'm a huge fan of the Penn State guys. Me too. I was thinking about that. I'd love for him to come over and, but just, and I think you'd do both like dabbling with you guys, like the next CJI or whatever CJI he could do, you know, compete against you or he go to ADCC some,
Starting point is 00:33:41 but I'm sure Craig would be open to having them at. The whole time that De Plesis was, was towards out of Sonia like this. I was like Bow nickel right now would blast. I can do I guess both of he's not gonna know it's cuz he's fighting a straight strike Right, I can do I against a guy like that. Yeah, I wasn't really previously I wasn't really a religious person But I watched the NCAA finals and all the Penn State guys that won, they were like, shout out to Jesus and stuff. I was like, fuck, I gotta read this book. I'm trying to get successful.
Starting point is 00:34:09 That's how I was in the UFC. I'd be in the back fucking terrified. I'm like, what the fuck am I gonna do? And then he looked over, whoever it was, big names. It's up to God now. I'm like, God, I'm gonna die. How about the Olympics? The Olympics does that.
Starting point is 00:34:23 Oh, I wish I could chalk this up to Jesus Christ, but I just don't know. Give me the fucking book, man. Dude, I saw that and that was maybe four or five months ago. I started reading and won a million bucks. I'm like, fuck, you did it, bro. Surrender to something bigger than yourself. It helps with, I think it helps with people's mindset when they're thinking that this is already, I am, here's my philosophy on,
Starting point is 00:34:46 in general in life, about like when you're religious. I think most of us are walking around, especially if you're competing or whatever you want to try to be good at, you tend to take shortcuts in life. You're fucking around a little bit in one aspect of your life, you're fucking around. Which is another way of saying you're lying in one aspect of your life.
Starting point is 00:35:03 I don't give a fuck who you are. It's too fun not to fuck around a little bit. It's too fun not to lie a little bit in this department, whether it's booze, girls, whatever the fuck it is. Everybody's got their toe dipped in. There's something about aligning yourself with a higher truth, for lack of a better word, right? So somebody's watching you. You have this relationship. I think when you get right with that, when there's that, when that, when that divine alignment without, you know, is uninterrupted, it allows you to be right with yourself and then all your energy goes into competition.
Starting point is 00:35:36 So when you get there, you've done what you were supposed to do. There are no defeats. You've done what you're supposed to do. There's no, and now you're, you're, you're, you're psychologically good. I think that's kind of what I guess. It also takes away the distractions. That's what I mean. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:35:48 To sum that long rant up, yeah, the distractions. No, but it's not just a long ramp up. No, I'm just saying, we're saying the same thing. I think it puts you on the path where those distractions aren't as important. Where you go, I'm not gonna do that. They're not as important. I'm gonna go train.
Starting point is 00:36:02 I'm not gonna do that. I'm gonna do this, because then you've done everything you had to do It just depends how deep you go, right? Then you're like gays are going to hell like whoa Like there's a fine line like I remember my grandma be sickly sleep. Yeah, my grandma be sick as fuck and she like It's all up in God's hands so Jesus talked about that but Jesus talked about some fucking medicine like it's on God but so but but Jesus had died but Jesus addressed that she died it's so funny because Jesus said be careful about being a moralist so he said to the Sadducees he was like listen you guys are busy saying gays are going
Starting point is 00:36:41 to hell and you're if you don't do this're fucked, and we're pure and we pray. And he goes, you're doing that because you're treating God like a piggy bank. You're treating God like a genie, a lamp you rub, then you get your wishes. You're being good because you want something in return. Okay, that's why he said, I hang out with hookers, gamblers, and criminals,
Starting point is 00:36:59 because at least they're honest about who they are. I'd rather be with somebody who's transparent than you guys who are more of us. That was his lesson. So it's the same idea. That's fucking hilarious. Too much. Games are going to hell. Yeah, you're like, whoa. I'm just trying to get the nerves shaking out before this fight. You're right.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Something that helped me compete in this most recent competition was a kind of version of what you said, but having the ability to honor God is really living in the moment, appreciating the moment that he's given you. So I felt like that gave me clarity and that gave me confidence when going out there. It was the hardest thing not to do was to not think about the money. You think about the million bucks, it's like you're thinking about the future, what's coming. It's like, bro, you gotta live in that moment, man. And you said too something about character.
Starting point is 00:37:48 You gotta think about Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior. Hey bro, you starting a cult? Hi. What if it's for a limited time for 1999? Yeah. Let's have some books. Forget the Rodney. He's like, I started a cult in Austin.
Starting point is 00:37:59 His picture. Yeah, just him with a crown on. Muscular as shit on a cross, but just like doing the Iron Cross. Muscular as shit, but just in a gi but just like like doing the Iron Cross muscular shit But just in a ghee. He's like this Yeah, it's a fine line dude. It's a fine line even with Scientology. You can see how people get into it Yeah, especially all the celebrities on I feel like that always ends up like this guy banging everyone's wife. Yeah
Starting point is 00:38:20 That's all Yeah, that's all cool. Eric, that's why the guy started it. Eric, it starts with I'm selling you salvation, but at the end of the day, he's selling you his cock. At the end of the day, if he's got beads and a ponytail, run away. No, that guy, the Waco one, the Waco guy? Of course, David Koresh.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Yeah, yeah, what is it, the Davidians? Yeah, dude, she's 14, but I'm helping her out. Oh no, dude, he went, listen, I got a message from God last night. Nobody's allowed to fuck their significant other but me. And I'm the guy that he chose me. And they were all like, you got this, man. What a surprise.
Starting point is 00:38:53 So he just started fucking all their wives. I was like, this dude figured it out, man. Genius. I mean, burned, but yeah. Again, bringing it back to the Bible, Paul and his letters to the, a lot of what Paul was writing was he would write letters back to the Bible, Paul, in his letters to the, a lot of what Paul was writing was he would write letters back to the churches he established.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Did you read the Bible? Yeah, I've read the whole thing. The whole Bible. I've read the whole Bible. Brian's religious now. Oh, yeah. No, I just read every, I just have read the Old and New Testament four times. It doesn't matter. Four times?
Starting point is 00:39:19 Yeah. But, um, but- Hey, can we pray? Yeah, let's pray. You can see a halo. Dude, just tattoo Christ. But um, but hey, can we pray? Yeah When my grandma she'd have us pray before you know, you're a kid I don't fucking know I'm chowing down or spaghetti It's like whoa, you gotta pray to God. Okay, and you're so hungry Hell cuz I dove into the meatball. yeah, if I have to say grace, it's like it's so hard, I need to eat right now. But one of the things that Paul wrote,
Starting point is 00:39:51 he was established a church, and then he'd leave, and it'd be somewhere in Turkey, and guess what they'd be doing? He'd find out they were banging on the fucking, and he'd be like, well, the priest would be like, listen, we have to have sex to celebrate love and the feeling, all of a sudden it'd be an orgy, and he'd come back and be like, guys, you can't do this.
Starting point is 00:40:06 That's not the fucking point. You don't do that. That's not what it is. Bro, the forbidden fruit is that pussy, brother. Correct. That is the truth. That is a very strong, and I'm sure girls don't like you because you're not attractive, man.
Starting point is 00:40:17 I spit on them, I don't look at them. You don't look at them, man. Your head is down. Get away from me. You walked straight. You're a bust. Yeah. Heavy on the bust. Heavy on the bust. Just you're a bust and I'm heavy on the bust. Your head is down. You're just too robust.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Have you ever been in a situation, because I want you to tell a story, because you haven't told it on a podcast. Oh no, on this one now. Have you ever been in a situation where somebody gets a little lippy with you on the street? A guy like me who says whatever blue eyes? Green eyes are they green or blue my I'm lost right now. They're green, but depending on the lighting whatever your favorite colors They can be that I thought I was straight this whole time. Yeah, have you ever been in a situation? um, I I thought I was straight this whole time. Yeah. Have you ever been in a situation? I
Starting point is 00:41:05 Mean I I was a bouncer for a little bit So I'd have to like smacking people around but um, but never on the street like in Austin, right? No, if I get into a problem, I just walk away. I'm gonna kill this guy. I don't need to kill anybody You know, yeah, I'm with God Oh, dude, you're the God now. Oh, my God. You're gonna do something. Fuck, dude, he's just pointing up there. What would Jesus do, man?
Starting point is 00:41:27 Nicky Rodgers. Soon as he starts winning, all of a sudden it's Jesus. Bro, you gotta heart a good story. Real religious people watch us like, son of a bitch. All seven of them are like, son of a bitch. You gotta deal with Nicky and Jesus, you know? That's wild. Yeah, but with his skill set and his accomplishments, you're not getting in the street fights
Starting point is 00:41:45 There's no dude. I don't want to fight anybody also punching is his hands hands break brother Yeah, I'll snap but you don't have to punch you He's on the phone with his lady and he just hears I'll mess you up and you stupid kids Hits the car. He says to his wife. Where are you? Oh, no I was leaving the gym this guy fucked up because his shoulder day and are you? Oh no. I was leaving the gym, this guy fucked up because his shoulder day and chest and I was in the tank top and I was literally up the street because I always see the kids where they go
Starting point is 00:42:11 to summer camp or school, I always tell them goodbye. And she was like, oh we left early and I was coming back from the gym and then I called her, I'm like where at? She's like, we're at the Starbucks off DeSoto. I'm like, I'm right up the street, I'll be there. And then I hear, get out the car bitch hits the car. She's like, babe, babe, some guy's getting out the car. I'm like, no. right up the street. I'll be there and I hear get out the car bitch hits the car She's like babe babe some guys getting out of the car. I'm like no and I'll fuck you up and your kids
Starting point is 00:42:28 Oh, she's in that she goes dude calm down and call my husband and he goes call your little up bitch ass husband She goes say less Dude, I showed up like fucking she's on the phone with him I was literally did this dude just pick the wrong day to do this the wrong time because I was literally a block away You look I pulled oh dude because I was literally a block away. You looked saucy. Oh dude, I was so sauced up. I pulled up in 45 seconds, screeching halt.
Starting point is 00:42:51 He was trying to leave. I was like, babe, don't let him leave, block him in. And she's like, we're trying. He's reversing out of the drive-through line at Starbucks. And I was like, well, what kind of truck is he in? She's like, it's like a work truck, like a city truck. I'm like, say less. I see him pulling out and I just went on incoming track traffic cut
Starting point is 00:43:07 him off got the car was like roll down the window he's like nope I'm like roll down the window he rolls it down I go you have a gun he goes no you're perfect get the fuck out of the car dude he was nah man I'm sorry dude I'm just having a bad day I'm like he's about to get a lot worse man but the fuck you up he's like nah I don't want these problems I'm not gonna fight you in the middle of street I'm like cool there's that dump He's like, no, I don't want any of these problems. I'm not going to fight you in the middle of the street. I'm like, cool. There's that dumpster right there, dude. I'll go behind there, man.
Starting point is 00:43:28 I will snap your fucking neck. And he's like, which one? And I'm like, right over there. As I'm pointing, I'm like, no, dude, right there. I became friendly. I'm like, no, come on, dude. You can't see it. I'm like, come on, bud.
Starting point is 00:43:39 It's like right, just right there. He's like, really? And just fucking peels off. Well, it's smart. Yeah, I'd look at you and not want to Situation I don't want to fight either but dude threaten my kids and why are you fucked up? Yeah, cuz you're the last person Oh, dude. No, you got a sir dominance. Yeah. Yeah situation that like that you knock them to the ground you piss on them I was gonna say that's what I my girl is. What would you do?
Starting point is 00:44:00 I go I would choke him unconscious put him back in his car piss on him and film it and then post it Yeah, yeah for sure. That's a good move. Yeah, also in Texas like people just shoot each other. Yeah, there's no fighting He's not gonna happen in Texas here. It's like everyone's so soft out here, right? They vote for Kamala here So it's like you have real soft Tesla drivers, and there's no repercussions for their actions Mm-hmm. And so it's like oh bud If you're gonna talk to a woman or kid like that the repercussions is you don't know who the husband you don't know man. You can't treat people like that Do you have something against Tesla drivers? Yeah, you said No, no, but I heard something like animosity. No, he won't let me sit in his truck because it won't start apparently
Starting point is 00:44:37 Yeah, I drive a test. Yeah, there's a tuck in the car Why not why Tesla a Tesla 3 to the little one to cute? Oh, I got that on purpose. We seem like a manly wet man Why you drove that? That's just cuz you're religious no, I stick together connected actually not Lorden I'm very interested in Going beyond philosophy. I think there's anything faces. I think faith is a Is an important aspect to life.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Well, truth, right? So you just said something before you said it's a character issue about greasing up and stuff like that. That to me is this idea that I wanna live a straight line. I wanna be honest about something. There's a big difference. The difference with me with that stuff,
Starting point is 00:45:22 I don't need Jesus Christ to tell me. So it's like, just be a good person, don't do that. I don't need to read out of a book, I don't need Jesus Christ to tell me, you know? So it's like, just be a good person. Don't do that. I don't need to read out of a book. I don't need a pastor to tell me. I don't need to donate to the church. Well, you just said though, being a good person is a religious concept too. Even if you want it to be. It's also a foundation that my father put into me who's not religious. There's also that. There is that. And my dad didn't, you know, he didn't need Jesus Christ to tell him,
Starting point is 00:45:41 don't be mean to people, don't cheat on your, you know, all that shit. Yes, but when you have zero religion, don't be mean to people, don't cheat on your, you know, all that shit. Don't steal from your- When you have zero religion, it just becomes might makes right, right? And if you look at societies where the person with the biggest club and the biggest muscles rules, they never last. They don't produce anything,
Starting point is 00:45:54 and they actually become very unstable. Even with chimps and baboons, it's really interesting. Chimp- You're talking about where like the alpha suppresses everything? You're talking about dictators. Yes, and alpha- Yeah, and they shut down the creative
Starting point is 00:46:05 Well, yeah when an alpha chimp will start bullying and fucking up the younger males and and and messing with the the females the females In chimp societies will get together They'll literally get together and then fucking kill him. Oh, really? Yes, the women will be like we've had enough of this shit him. Oh really? Yes. The women will be like, we've had enough of this shit. He's being a fucking tyrant. Let's go ahead and rip his fucking arms off. That's why being a Mormon doesn't work so many wives. They're stronger together. Facts. We saw that documentary. That dude had like 60. And how about this with, they say with polygamy. You got four wives or whatever as you're a Mormon. When the man's there, the women break into like, there's a hierarchy, right?
Starting point is 00:46:46 So there's the mama bear and then everybody else. Oh, you have a starting five and there's a Kobe and then you have your warlock off the bench. When the dad, when she makes like good dinners. Yep, but when the father, when the male dies, when the male dies, like they all become more egalitarian. What does that mean? Egalitarian?
Starting point is 00:47:04 Egalitarian, so equal. They go back to traditionalists? No, they all become more egalitarian. What does that mean? Egalitarian? Egalitarian, so equal. They go back to- They kind of like become- Traditionalists? No, they all become friends. Oh really? There isn't competition anymore. Oh, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:47:11 So now they're all supportive of each other. And they get all fat, yeah. They give up. Yeah, cows are that way. That's a fucking random story, but dairy cows, all sweet, they fucking break into, there's mama, there's the main woman, and everybody else kind of falls in a line
Starting point is 00:47:27 But I think people confuse polygamy and more like Mormons not like that's illegal. Yeah It's two different things. So for a long time they study the book is David Utah, it's allowed what's that some parts? I said allowed I thought it was bad Well polygamy is essentially banned in so so in the Muslim world you're allowed to have four wives, but the caveat is you have to treat them all the same essentially. You can't favor one over the other. How are they going to honor it? I mean, I'm my favorite card.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Polygamy is legal in some countries, but banned in most of the world. It's most common in the polygamy belt of West and Central Africa, thank you, where countries like Burkina Faso, Mali, Gambia, Niger, and Nigeria. Oh yeah, and they're all crushing it. Polygamy is also legal in some Asian and African countries. Yeah, they're thriving up there. Yeah. So because you drive a Tesla,
Starting point is 00:48:15 does that mean you're vegetarian as well? I am not a vegetarian. You eat meat. I eat meat, and I prefer game meat, sir. And I'll shoot her in the head. Yeah, so I mean, I'm definitely going to chat with my CPA to be absolutely certain. But yeah, if I can write off five, 600,000 and then wrap the R's a little bit over 6,000 pounds, so we should be good business vehicle. Yeah, man. Toss a logo on it so it's a write-off,

And then I switched the color and had another shop rapid and they didn't have the same like work ethic and it was a disaster. So you gotta be careful with rap shops. It can get really bad.
