Last week on the Glass cannon podcast and you kill.
Oh yes.
Fire burn.
Yeah.
The land breaks its neck over the nest.
There's still more to do in this tower and a horn to blow.
Blow the horn.
So I set off to the horn. Sorry, I said up to the horn. As you blow this bizarre horn, it vrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo rise up and crest like a wave and this surge finally resolves itself into this
titanic body making its way towards the tower. Wow. This must be your chance.
Let me jump. What did you get? Both of you who have already rolled dice. 16. 16. That is not
enough. You fall 60 feet to the ground.
Okay. Both of you.
Wait, what? Both of them?
You both fail to grab an edge.
Asta!
He's running around the side of the tower to get to Asta.
We gotta get up onto the thing.
And he'll just turn as you walk away and he'll do a two action heel on you.
I guess we're all going.
He starts to just hobble and run after you.
Come on, Raymanz. You can do it.
That's a twig!
Yeah!
That's fucking cool!
You're on this long, narrow strip of grass and you can see up in the distance that ring
of trees.
Now you sure enough see a pool of water.
As three beings jump out at you, turtle-like creatures with bulging eyes, with heads indented in little pools of water.
The adventure continues...
...now. I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better
I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better I'm gonna be the one to make you feel better Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the Glass Cannon Podcast. You know, we've been doing this for a long time, some of us, some longer than others.
It's evolved over the years, Joe.
Yes. We started out in your apartment.
Then we moved to my apartment.
We dabbled in Matthew's apartment.
We dabbled all over.
No one has ever seen where Skid lives.
No.
We don't know for sure.
CJ did.
CJ did?
Well, he had my new place.
Your new place.
CJ has been there.
I've seen it on a Zoom.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That counts.
We dabbled in Airbnb in Philly.
We recorded some episodes, some very epic episodes.
That's where a certain character died.
Yes.
Right.
Met their.
Was that Gorm?
Would you stop?
That could be anyone.
I was trying to be spoiler-free.
Was it Gormley?
Met their, what I like to say, timely end, not untimely.
Rude. Rude. Rude. Really rude. They met their, what I like to say, timely end. Not untimely.
Rude.
Rude.
They met their timely end.
But it's evolved to the point now where we've added new players in Cayden City.
You're not new anymore.
But we also have this studio and a lot of people in it.
And you guys only get to see our shining faces, but there's a lot going on here.
And we have even more today.
That's true.
So in the back, we have a live studio audience.
Yay!
Give it up for the Glass Cannon Band.
Bramford Marsalis and the Glass Cannon 2.
Oh my god, if we could get Bramford Marsalis, that'd be great.
I bet you he's available.
Probably could get Harry Connick Jr.
There's got to be a third Marsalis out there somewhere that would be affordable.
Oh my God.
For Steve Marsalis.
Next generation?
Yeah, Marsalis next generation.
There's Jason Marcellus.
Get him.
Get him.
Francis says there's a Jason Marsalis.
Slide into those DMs, Francis.
Francis, call him.
He plays the triangle.
He has no musical talent, but he's got that Marsalis name. So we just heard from Francis back him. He plays the triangle. Yeah. He has no musical talent, but he's got that Marcellus name.
So we just heard from Francis back there.
Francis and CJ on the ones and twos behind the screen back there.
Then we have Matt Brody, our cinematographer over here.
He's shooting that camera that looks so sweet from time to time.
And then we've added Brian McDermott.
He's over here.
He's like, D's in the house.
Shooting what I've taken from Gary Vee.
It's called Sawdust.
He's just been shooting us like hanging out pre-show,
shooting during the show, trying to pick up on some content
that you otherwise might not be able to see.
And I love it.
Yeah.
We are content machines.
That's what they say in the industry.
I cried twice before we started recording.
Yeah, and we weren't trying.
We weren't turning it on because McD was here.
What we were realizing is it's a shame because sometimes when we're like really mean to each other off air, it's so funny.
Oh my God.
And it's not recorded.
And we never catch it.
And we never catch it.
So yeah, hopefully we catch a little bit more of that.
I will say it was really fun when everyone walked in and McD was like kind of by the door.
And we all just came in and we were like, McD!
What the fuck?
I didn't know he was going to be here.
That's always so exciting.
I felt like I would never know this feeling,
but an NBA star when they walk out and like all the fans are
like, you know, I just saw McD and I was like, yes!
Yeah, it's great.
I love it.
I want to get to the point where the studio is
three times the size.
We have a live audience and a three piece band.
And a three piece band, absolutely.
One of the Marsalis Scions.
Yes.
Marsalis Scions.
Love the word Scion.
Would be fun to have a live band.
Oh, that would be great.
Yeah, it would be great.
Well, the Fester Purple Worm team
has the improvised keyboardist in it.
Isn't he great?
Amazing.
It's fun. It's great their guys. Yeah. And man.
Keyboardist.
Isn't he great?
Amazing.
It's fun.
It's great.
If we had like drums too, I know Skid has the best drops in the world, but just like the
drum hit for, you know, the...
Ba dum tch.
Yeah.
Or like the falling down the stairs.
I don't know, something.
We need to add more.
We should just keep adding more and more.
We've definitely, we've had Jason Charles Miller has wanted to for a while open for us.
Yeah. That would be awesome.
That would be very cool.
Jared's done some stand up to do pre-shows.
I want to get to the point where the portion of Pathfinder
takes up about 3% of the show.
Yeah.
So like more band activities.
We do like a round of an encounter,
and then another 40 minutes of just like the band playing,
roasting Sydney.
And then it's just, we'll see you next week for round two.
Special guests come on and like.
There's a special talent show at one point
for audience members, that takes up a big chunk of time.
Yeah, with the live audience involved.
It's engagement.
Yeah.
It's engagement.
You know, there's a limited audience for this stuff.
That, unlimited, unlimited earning potential.
People are watching this right now, just getting so angry.
So mad.
Just pushing buttons.
Is the band over yet?
I bet he's serious.
How's everybody doing?
Sydney, how's your musical theater improv class going?
What?
I wish.
Oh, yeah.
Kate doesn't know, dude.
Kate doesn't know.
She didn't tell her best friend.
I asked you how your day was.
How your weekend. I wish I never told you guys. You really shouldn't have. I don't know, dude. Kate doesn't know. She didn't even tell her best friend. I asked you how your day was and your weekend.
I wish I never told you guys.
You really shouldn't have.
I don't really.
Yeah.
I mentioned to the guys, it hasn't started yet.
I'm excited for when it will start, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone.
And I'm a performer.
Don't do that.
That's your first mistake.
That's your first mistake.
I'm a performer and I'm an actor and I'm a musician and getting to hang out with Mary
Lou and just like Ross and I went and saw their improv show at Gen Con.
I was like, man, I really miss doing improv and sketch comedy.
I did it a lot in college and then it doesn't pay.
So I stopped doing it when I had to start working.
So I stepped out of my comfort zone because this really scares me,
but I signed up for a musical theater improv class
at the Magnet Theater in New York City.
I'm so proud of you.
Thank you.
You'll all be invited to the final show.
Oh boy.
What's your favorite musical?
Can't wait for that.
Why do you gotta do that?
That's just so rude.
Name every musical.
Honestly, the-
You said name one.
Matthew applauded her and then questioned your authenticity.
Assumed her enthusiasm was born out of some sort of fandom.
I'm not a huge musical person.
Your favorite composer?
No, no, no.
I really like the Hamilton sound.
Obviously, I listen to the Hamilton sound track a lot.
I saw it.
Good luck improvising at a Hamilton sound.
No, I know.
I know.
Exactly.
I saw it on Broadway. and I really like Wicked.
I've seen that a few times.
And I-
You know part of musical theater improv
is improvising musical theater, like what it's like.
Not just singing songs.
I took my mom to see Escape from Margaritaville,
which did not last long on Broadway.
Is that a Jimmy Buffett musical?
Yes.
Right, what?
Well, they just trying to like leave Margaritaville
on the Vegas strip. Kind of. That's the whole show? The Well, they're just trying to leave Margaritaville on the Vegas strip.
Kind of.
That's the whole show?
The plot was pretty much they have to leave Margaritaville.
You just walk out with a margarita.
That might be a little plot heavy.
I like, I think I'm going to do OK.
But it is a class, so I will learn.
I'm sure I'll be learning a lot.
And you get a grade?
I do.
I will get a grade.
Really?
Yeah, you have to improve, or you can't take the next class.
And then eventually-
Oh, so you have to retake.
Right.
So it's pass fail.
It's pass fail.
And as I said, when she first told us, it was like, well, good thing it's free.
I think you don't have to pay for this nonsense.
Troy?
I mean, these people-
Oh, let me guess.
You may or may not pass to pay another $4,000
to do the second level.
I really hope she gets it because it'd be such a shame
if she wasn't able to take the next class
that she would also have to pay for.
It's only 300 bucks to test for your yellow belt.
I swear, if I just stop,
if I just stop talking about it, don't bring it up.
If it's just like, oh, the class ends soon and then I never mention it again, don't bring it up. If it's just like, oh the class ends soon
and then I never mention it again,
don't ask me if I pass or fail that class.
But no, it'll be fun.
We have a car ride coming up to Boston,
should we do musical theater the whole way?
Oh wow.
Oh my god please.
Guess you need a new car to get there.
I'm gonna take Troy's car, you guys have fun.
Well it is important, we're mocking it, obviously, because it's stupid.
But it's not stupid.
It is important to constantly be improving your skill base.
Skid, you took an improv class very early on in the glass can improv class.
I was doing like improv jam down at the pit.
That's fun.
My friend Dwayne, it's like we would do that.
That was really fun.
And I just like, and I've thought about like doing a class or like just doing it more just to like keep the would do that. And that was really fun. And I've thought about doing a class
or just doing it more just to keep the muscles home.
That's exactly it.
Got to keep the muscles sharp.
Joe, what are you doing to keep your gaming muscles sharp?
Dude, nothing.
Performance muscles.
And I've thought about this.
I've thought pretty seriously about this.
I applaud you for doing this because it is terrifying.
And I could use improvement, like a great deal of improvement, in improv,
specifically.
Just thinking on my feet, advancing a scene well,
playing off of somebody well.
And I just don't know how to do it.
I've never been trained to do it.
So I've thought about taking an improv class.
And the number one reason that I don't do it.
Well, there's two reasons.
The number one reason is I have to pay to be embarrassed.
And then the number two reason is
that I don't think that my Irish temper can handle it.
Because I get very, very angry at myself
when I suck in front of a bunch of people.
You should see him at third base.
I'll just be like, fuck this, and walk out of the room.
I suck.
I suck.
The best part is everyone else is trying to yes and no.
Right, exactly.
And everybody else that's going to be there,
it's probably all sensitive, actor-y theater people
that are going to be like, oh my god.
Oh my god.
And then I'm going to see their sad eyes looking at me
with pity, and I'm going to be like, don't look at my face!
So I've already played this whole thing out.
And for them, for them, I'm not gonna sign up.
Maybe I'll suggest therapy first?
Yeah, maybe.
Not a bad idea.
Yeah.
Not a bad idea.
And then improv.
And then improv.
Yeah, that's the order of operations.
A two pronged attack.
I do love the image of you like halfway through a scene
and just going, fuck!
Yes, I should have said this.
Exactly. It's Stop fucking working!
Exactly!
Exactly!
When we saw...
I won't even hit it!
I believe you just do that all the time.
I don't think it's something you do.
When we saw Ross and Mary Lou and friends doing it at Gen Con, I was so blown away.
I mean, I know people that are good at improv are going to be good at improv, but I was
still just blown away at the smoothness with which things were happening.
And so I had to go up afterwards and talk to them and just be like, what did you talk about beforehand? And just in
terms of the structure of like, when a scene starts or when a scene ends or who starts a scene
or whatever, you know what I mean? They're just like, no, it's just all kind of made up. What?
Like every aspect of it, even the logistics are made up. It's, it was wild.
Well, it's hard too, like when your friends and associates
are that good at it.
Yeah.
And it's like, you can't compare yourself to them.
Like I don't sit here.
Exactly.
I don't sit here being like, you know what?
I'd really like to play for the Phillies.
I should go to a baseball class.
Because I love watching the Phillies.
That's a good thing.
It's never going to happen, no matter how much heart I have.
It's not going to happen.
And so yeah, but I like this therapy idea.
It's sort of like similar to your first class.
Similar to your first class, I have to pass therapy
before I can do the intro to improv.
You can get a grade from the therapist.
I had to get a pass fail from the new therapist.
Actually, that's true.
When you sign up for an improv class, it's like,
do you have a note from a therapist?
Your note from a therapist is clearing you.
That's a big part of the process.
Are you therapeutically cleared to do this?
Yeah, you're therapeutically cleared to take this class.
You need a prescription to do this.
The sincerity with which you said,
I like this therapy idea.
Like, there's a concept that just came up yesterday.
Just heard of it. It's a concept that just came up yesterday.
Just heard of it.
It's a new fad.
Oh, god.
Yeah, therapy is just not in the world that I live in,
slash grew up in.
We know.
It is, though, but yes.
Yeah, it's hidden away and dark and not talked about.
You go home, Erin, have you ever heard about therapy?
You heard this therapy?
Kate mentioned it today, and she's like, shut up!
Shut up, move along!
I'm not even sure if I'm saying it right, therapy?
Therapy?
Therapy?
Well, if you're watching and you don't have a therapist,
we'll be your therapist for the next hour and 15 minutes.
Sit back, we'll be right back after this break.
hour and 15 minutes. Sit back. We'll be right back after this break.
Kids love eating cereal, but adults don't want to let sugar and most cereals won't give you the protein that you need. But recently I found Magic Spoon, a nostalgically delicious cereal
that tastes just like those childhood favorites, but without the sugar and with a ton of protein.
I've mentioned I wasn't allowed to eat those cereals when I was a kid. I was so envious of the kids who were allowed to
eat them. I'd see them in their in their houses and I'd think, oh one day and now it's finally
happened for me. Every serving of Magic Spoon is 13 grams of protein, zero grams of sugar,
and four grams of net carbs so you can feel good about eating cereal. They also have 10 flavors that
all taste just like the cereal you loved as a kid. Their most popular are fruity, cocoa, frosted,
and peanut butter, but there are so many more like blueberry muffins, cinnamon roll, birthday
cake, honey nut, and maple waffle. I love that Magic Spoon makes it so easy for me to eat more
protein when I'm too busy or tired to cook. I love them. It's a good like anytime snack, especially like late
night for me. And I love the snack bars. Like they're so delicious. And if it's a quick
breakfast, that's good for that too. Get $5 off your next order of delicious cereal at
magic spoon.com slash GCP or look for magic spoon in your nearest grocery aisle. That's
magic spoon.com slash GCP for $5 off magic spoon. Hold on to the dream.
Hey, we're back. What a thank our sponsors foundry VTT obviously we've got a big project in the works

But every Wednesday in September, we're going to be playing Ember here in the studio.
These are all recorded in the studio.
It's really cool.
It's gorgeous.
It's so cool.
It's very, very cool.
Yeah.
Andrew Clayton, the founder and creator of Foundry Virtual Tabletop is running the game for me, Joe Sidney. It's gorgeous. It's so cool. It's very, very cool. Yeah. So cool.
Yeah.
Andrew Clayton, the founder and creator of Foundry Virtual Tabletop is running the game
for me, Joe Sidney, and Skip.
He was sitting right there when you're sitting.
The only person I let sit in the seat.
Even when people hang out and I'm gone, I'm like, please don't sit in my seat.
I'm sure they do.
Where did you sit, Troy?
I sat where you're sitting.
You sat in your chair.
You son of a bitch.
I took my softie.
That's why it's so weird.
I took my softie over there and I took yours and I rubbed it on my butt.
Rubbed it on my butt.
Stuck it down there, gave it a good wipe.
His butt was right there.
Right there.
Yup.
You're wondering why that was moist when you came in.
That's my one week old butt juice.
Oh God.
Also want to thank Norse Foundry.
Speaking of butt juice, no, we love our good friends at Norse Foundry.
We got to get out to Florida one of these days.
I'm working up the tour schedule for 2025 and Florida's-
We've never been to Florida.
Florida's still not on it, but we might get closer.
We might get closer this year.
I want to, I'm itching to get back to Jacksonville.
Are you?
Is that no one?
When Joe and I played Pandemic Legacy, we had a running joke that we just had to let
Jacksonville fall.
Yeah.
Every time Jacksonville would get like hyper infected, we'd be like, just gotta let it
go.
Just gotta let it go.
Cut it off with the Panhandle.
It's for the best.
I imagine the Jaguars are like, not another home game. The only professional sports team that would rather play away.
Well, we are going to play a home game today.
Actually, it's kind of an away game for the players.
You're playing on the back of a demigod.
You have cleared the offering spire. You have brought forth the offering of various
fruits and fungus and you have blown the spore horn. Very eagerly blew the shit
out of that spore horn. The jungle itself. He went to town on it. The the jungle
itself seemed to come to life and you see this being, this sort of like kaiju
come out of the jungle, made of the jungle itself.
Her back so high that there are like glaciers atop of it and a valley of trees and dense
forest underneath.
She stops, opens up her mouth and all these creatures fly off of her, grab the offerings, throw it into her mouth,
but as I said, she's kind of faced away from you,
and so you've got to make a jump.
And so you have your most acrobatic players do this,
acrobatic characters, Asta and Zephyr,
and they both fail the acrobatics check,
and then fail the reflex save to grab an edge.
Fall 60 feet, departed, boom!
As Ramius is down there talking to the elves.
And time is of the essence now.
So you all scramble back up there.
Finally someone gets across, throw a rope,
get across there, the rope snaps,
and she begins to walk away.
And you start walking down her spine.
You see in the distance, atop her head, a glistening.
It looks like the headwaters that you need to collect are,
not surprisingly, atop her head.
It's like a circle of trees surrounding what must be a
fountain, a lake, who knows?
So you start making your way across after some healing
and then I have you roll some perception checks and some of you see these
creatures emerge. Multi-colored, yellow, purple, red, turtle-like creatures with
indentations on their head full of water and...
their head full of water and... Where's my bottle cap at?
Oh, it's here?
Oh, thank you, Skid.
I don't know why I had it.
Well, you should have had it because...
I almost got away with it too.
When I was describing She Who Walks Through Seasons in the headwaters, Skid, you were
like, oh, like a kappa, and you will be fighting some kappa today.
Yeah!
Oh!
So I got a bottle Kappa.
We are fighting.
Are we opening with a fight?
We are.
But here's the thing, you don't have to roll for initiative
because I took your perception checks from last time
as your initiative.
Wow, wow.
Let's keep it moot.
Oh, this is awesome.
So don't roll for initiative.
Sponsored.
Roll, rick-a-roll, rick-a-roll, rick-a-roll,
roll for initiative. Don't for a nation it's sponsored.
Don't.
By Norse Foundry.
Round one, let's go to the map on the jungle god's spine.
The jungle god's spine.
See, I was warming up for a nice little role play.
Yeah, I thought that we were gonna be like meeting
kind denizens of the goddess's back.
Like teenage mutant ninja turtles.
Yeah, what the heck?
Here's what they look like.
Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da.
I just read, when we were in San Diego for Comic-Con,
we wandered into a gaming and comic shop
and with a few of our friends from Marvel
and everyone recommended The Last Ronin.
The Last Ronin, I bought the copy, I bought a copy.
I bought a copy too and it is great.
I haven't read it yet. It's great. I heard it's really good, yeah. What is The Last Ronin. The last Ronin. I bought the copy. I bought a copy of it. I bought a copy too and it is-
I haven't read it yet.
It's great.
I heard it's really good, yeah.
What is the last Ronin?
Is it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle adjacent?
Yeah.
It's an imagined-
It's sort of like Old Man Logan.
Oh shit, look at this.
But they're old turtles now?
Well, the setup is all of the turtles are dead but one, but you don't know which one.
But you don't know which one it is.
Until the end of the first issue.
Right.
Anybody, and then that turtle wields all of the weapons
and there's, it's great.
In the future, New York City is ruled by Oroku Roto,
grandson of Shredder.
Yes.
Ooh.
Cool, wow.
All right.
Well, let's fight some turtles.
There is a yellow one, a blue one, and a red one.
These guys are funny.
These are like this big demigods,
like rowdy teenage sons
Large adult sons large adult sons are my three large adult sons
Here's what I'll say if you look at the map here beautiful map on foundry VTT. You'll see that there are some trees
Mostly on the outskirts, but some right where you guys are standing if you want to move about the trees. It's difficult to rate okay, otherwise
guys are standing. If you want to move about the trees, it's difficult to read.
Okay. Otherwise, play, play it as it lies.
It is a blue cap is turned blue. Kappa is going to,
uh, let's see, Leonardo. This is Leo.
Leo is going to, um,
it's going to move through the red Kappa.
And you notice that all of their arms, like one of their little paws is like
just barely peeking out of the shell,
whereas their other arm is like crazy long.
And so with that elongated reach for its second action,
it attacks Asta with this like 10 foot long arm.
What the? What the?
Indeed here comes a claw, crack die, poop. Nice. 14. Miss. Nice. Switching die, second
attack, natty 19 that's gonna be a 26. That hits. Let me get my d10 for the
damage that it's going to dole out to you And that is going to be a total of 11 points of slashing damage
And you just hear like they're communicating with you almost telepathically and you hear a word that
Sounds like some sort of what is a polyglot? Is that when like multiple languages seem to come together?
So you speak when you can speak multiple all right, come together? It's when you speak multiple languages.
Alright, so what is it called when there's like a pigeon? Pigeon.
So you hear this sort of pigeon-y type language of multiple languages that sounds like they're calling you trespassers.
Mm-hmm.
And, uh...
Fair.
See, they're not wrong.
We did make the offering though.
It's like Edward James Olmos in Blade Runner.
You know, everything is in Blade Runner, Skip.
Sometimes, yes it is. I beg to differ. Yeah, I beg to differ. It in Blade Runner. You know, everything is in Blade Runner skit. Sometimes. Yes, it is.
Sometimes it is.
Yeah, I beg to differ.
It is Blade Runner.
I feel like I have to tell you this.
I'll put it.
Yellow Cappa moves up and goes to do the same thing to Barnes.
Let me bring back the old Split the Party die because my prototype
LaValley die got chipped and I feel like it has been rolling.
Oh, no. Did Joe do it to you too?
He probably did. I imagine imagine I certainly didn't drop it
All right, here goes yellow Kappa coming for old barnsie
That's gonna be oh was that sitting on something nice before it went to shit
18 to hit miss second attack is going to be another miss so
You got two attacks. Asta gets hit once barn doesn't hit at all, and it is Zephyr's turn.
Awesome.
So she's going to take a big old step back here.
Okay.
So that she gets some distance between the turtles.
15 feet back on the spine.
Shooting through the trees,
since it's like difficult terrain, would that give cover? They're gonna get some cover. Yeah, and also like the way you're positioned
There isn't a single like you're gonna be shooting through your friends, too
So they're gonna get some little I guess before I move
I do want to try to do like a knowledge check because if we think they're they're calling us trespassers
I'm wondering if we can de-escalate this at all. So like society
Yeah, try some society or or nature would probably be even better.
I'll do nature.
I don't know. It's a 10.
Yeah, no, you have never dealt with interplanetary turtles before.
Um, damn. All right. There's nothing we can do. We cannot reason with them.
So she's going to take.
The only language they understand is violence.
35 feet of movement to get around here,
and she's going to get into monastic archer stance.
All right, so you slide around the tree to the west
and drop into monastic archer stance.
Yep.
OK, anything left? That's all I got.
That's all you got?
How about old Asta?
Asta, you are 10 feet away from the blue coppa.
Leonardo.
I think Asta also might want to try to deescalate,
like maybe try a different method.
Can I do an arcana check?
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
I don't want to kill these large teenage sons. 12. No, that was a bad roll. She goes, Kill the ball! It's helpless! We can't do anything but stab! Uh...
Get up.
Move north, I guess, towards the blue turtle that just attacked her.
Second action and then third action I'm going to slice with my katana.
Slice away.
Pick a good die. I'm gonna roll this one pretty.
Okay.
Uh, that's gonna be a 20.
A 20 to hit is a hit on this poor defenseless Kappa.
Well it did just hurt me. Oh wait what am I doing? Two-handed sorry D10.
Minimum damage five points of damage. You just made him mad. Yeah. A couple more
attack in you? No that was three. Did the check move and then attack. Barnes!
Uh, okay.
Uh, Barnes is going to exploit vulnerability on the, uh...
He's yellow, but I'm gonna call him Michelangelo,
because it's the closest.
That's fun.
And the other guy can be Raphael.
There we go.
And Donatello is dead.
So sad.
Okay.
Uh...
18.
Nope, sorry, 17.
Okay.
Uh...
How does this work again? So it's against the standard DC creature.
Okay.
Tell me if it's a success or fail.
It's a success.
It's a success.
Okay, great.
So that means I can exploit their mortal weakness.
Okay.
Which means I can also do against all three of them.
And then also that 17 goes against
the recall knowledge DC as well.
All right, here's what I'm gonna tell you.
They don't have any weaknesses or resistances or anything like that.
But you do know something in your studies
about their little head bowl is that if you can
knock the water out of their head bowl,
it like really slows them down.
They're sort of like powered by that.
And so until they refill the head bowl.
That's right out of the mythology.
Yeah, vertigo or something.
Yeah, they get like a little a little off.
That is like that is empowering them in a way. So if you can spill, evaporate, or remove the water from their head,
it's going to slow them down. So even with that reach, it would give you guys time to kind of regroup a little bit.
Tell them his shoe's untied. Hey, look down there. I can tell you how this would work mechanically.
You can try and knock them prone. They're going to get a reflex save to try and keep the water in their head
If you grapple restrain or stun them you can do an athletics check against their Fortitude DC to try and knock the water out
Can I trip them that work they would then go prone?
But they get a reflex save to try and keep the water in their head so trip works the athletics check to knock it out
They just have to have that condition to try and keep the water in their head. So trip works. The athletics check to knock it out,
they just have to have that condition. Yeah, they have to be grappled, restrained or stunned.
First and then.
And then you're allowed to do that, yeah.
Okay.
Okay, and if I just.
Anytime you try to trip them,
they're gonna have a chance to try and steady themselves
to keep the water in their head.
Okay.
Okay, well.
It's a cool little like, mini game.
If I'm able to hit next round with Stunning Fists, that could help.
That would help.
Yes.
Yeah, it would.
Uh, so that said, because of the action economy, I am instead going to, uh, let's see, how do we maximize our chances here?
Uh, that was one action exploit vulnerability, and because they have no weaknesses, I actually have to exploit their personal antithesis, which is lame
But that sounds like
So so helps but uh and then Barnes is going to
Glint his mirror
Or tilt it to catch the light. Mm-hmm and a copy of Barnes is going to appear
Just behind the
Yellow guy right over diagonally in a position that
would be flanking yeah there you are but I'm instead going to use my final action
this is tricky yeah this is tricky because I want to go for that I want to
go for the waters right but first I have to grapple them so actually you know you
know what I'm just gonna attempt to trip you attempt're gonna attempt to trip? Okay. Which one?
The yellow guy.
With the new barns.
With the new barns.
Or in a stumper two.
So this is gonna be an athletics check against your...
Now you always say they're both barns. What does that mean?
So they both... you can hit either of them.
Right, but when you say they're both barns, like the consciousness exists in both of them, are they two different beings?
Yeah, in a way. What it's saying is one is not an illusion.
Yeah, they're not illusions.
It's not like one's. I feel like we gloss over
this supernatural, amazing thing.
You're so used to mirror image and you're using a mirror.
Right. So mirror's reflection
is what's the, the, the, the, the, right.
Yeah, so it's him in both places.
It's not like you would hit one
and be like, oh, that was the wrong one.
And that's what the ability lays out.
It's like, you, like, trodans are his barn.
Is it like a twin like Tomax?
No, they don't get separate. They don't get like they don't get separate turns They so I have three actions and I can use attack from either one
I also can move from either one if what if moving is one of the conditions that ends the illusion what kind of
Magic is I mean, I'm with Troy though. I'm like, are you making a clone of yourself?
You essentially feels like a rip in space. Are you Dolly the sheep?
That is Barnes' true identity.
Dolly the Sheep. That's it.
Rips his mask off.
Deep 90's cut.
Oh no, it'll be one on strike.
It is an illusory image, but you can hit either one.
Okay, I see. So it is illusion magic?
Yeah, it's an illusion, but it's, they both count as me.
Interesting.
But for area of AoE spells,
I only get hit once. You would take the damage once.
Someone needs to write a fanfic about this ability.
Arthur Two Barns Jackson.
Two Barns.
All right, this is gonna be Athletics Check
against your Reflex DC.
Okay, fair enough.
Natural seven.
17.
Ah!
No, no. But it wasn't a critical fail, so you don Natural seven, 17. Ah! No, no.
But it wasn't a critical fail, so you don't fall.
Great.
Because I think that happens right on a critical failure
for a trip, you're like whoa!
Yeah, if I critically succeed,
you take bludgeoning damage from the fall.
Well, it is now Red Kappa's turn, Rafael's turn.
Oh.
He's gonna slide, luckily Barnes kept him,
so he has to at least move once, and then he's gonna do two attacks on you come on now 20
Nope, 21 to hit though that hits 21 hits
noise and that's gonna be seven points of slashing damage and then that weird long arm
Comes again. Oh
20 that hits exactly.
Oh, and another seven points of slashing.
So just, shkra, shkra, hits Barnes.
So Barnes has been hit.
It's Bugles' turn.
Bugles, you're about 10 feet away from the yellow one.
I'm going to do an Arcana check also, just to see if there's any additional.
Anything else.
Yeah.
That's a 19. 19, yeah. You know that these creatures are not, at least on Galarian, inherently hostile.
That's what I thought.
But there is something, you hear another word, blasphemers, trespassers.
You feel as if they are so tied to this being, they will stop at nothing to kill you or die trying. Right so it
may not be that we're doing anything that we could change. Yeah. Okay.
There's also a video game with a very similar concept the wandering village I
think it's a giant creature with a... Did you guys ever get to that point in Jade
region where you met the Kappa? Did we? were like, did we? We're in book five, where the game will never finish.
I don't remember.
And like, right as we ended there was a Kappa,
but it was kind of sandbox-y, so I don't know
if you met the Kappa or not.
Spoilers. Yes sir.
Alright, I'm gonna do...
He is going to snap
his fingers and do Attempted Ignition.
Okay.
Actually he's gonna do a five foot
step to get within melee range for him okay of the ignition that is a 24 24
against just regular ac right where AC that's a hit okay great it's the remix
to ignition how's our Kelly doing these days? I would. Ask Francis. You got Francis. Fan of the show, R. Kelly.
Friend of the past.
Can you listen to podcasts in federal prison?
Can't play D&D.
11 points of damage.
Can't have dice.
11 points of damage to yellow kappa?
Yeah.
Okay.
And that's me.
That's me done.
And that's me.
That's me done.
And rounding things out, the slow-witted Brother Ramius.
Hey, easy.
Easy.
I'll take physically slow. I don't know about slow-witted.
Alright.
I just wanna...
I'm looking at my character sheet, and...
To be fair, we haven't played in a while.
We haven't played since pre-Gen Con, so it's been a mess.
Has it really been that long?
Yep.
It's been a while. And we played so many games pre-Gen Con, so it's been a mess. Has it really been that long? It's been a while.
And we played so many games pre-Gen Con and at Gen Con.
I want to clarify something.
You ready to do a flashback?
I want to clarify something.
I'm gonna flashback and shoot my laser gun.
Have we not rested?
We haven't rested since the fight with the Griffin thing
Because everything has been happening, so we traveled all the way here. We worked our way up the tower So we've what we've traveled here
We fought the cult burned a bunch of spells to heal the two of them
So we what was it the karak or whatever it's called the correct the correct the correct the assassin
vines
Fall all that stuff.
So.
Spells you used are gone.
We haven't rested, but we healed.
It's just weird because I don't remember using calm,
but it's gone on my sheet.
I remember you using it, but I don't remember what day.
I thought we-
I remember using it like a while ago.
You used calm against the Fleshees.
Yeah. Yeah.
We've rested since then.
Did you?
That's the question.
It's like when we came out and we talked to Jen Thiel,
and it was like, you have to go to the whatever of all
seasons.
We had to travel to the lady, and it took like a day
or something, right?
We rested.
I remember because we were like, we have to rest.
I don't remember.
I don't remember either. Yeah. My instinct is that we didn't have to take a break. I feel like you're like, we have to rest. I don't remember. I don't remember either. Yeah, so.
My instinct is that we didn't have to take a break.
I have almost nothing.
I feel like you're like, let's go.
I have almost nothing.
I feel like you're like, let's go.
We gotta go.
But you would, you.
I'm always the one that says, let's rest.
So I feel like we might have pushed it.
We might have pushed it.
I would trust your sheet.
Yeah.
I didn't write.
The only reason I hesitate to trust my sheet
is because it is a bit of a blind spot for me sometimes.
It's just clicking long rest.
Well, why don't we say that the rest of us didn't rest.
We were walking and then we made a makeshift travois for you
to nap on after you.
So what we're saying now is I have all my spells.
You were smoking with that elf the entire time. No, yeah it cannot acly he was smoking a lot. I did I shared
With the elf yeah, you're like a mobile opium dent
You're unless you cast a calm on him because he's having a panic attack or something
I feel like you're pretty good about keeping track of these things. Yeah on the elf when he got paranoid
I just don't want to make a deadly mistake for other people's characters. I don't know. This is bad.
Are you good about track?
Do you track the days in legacy?
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Rise the rulers.
Days and hours. Yeah.
That's good. Down to the half hour.
I... There was a time when I had a giant slayer calendar.
I remember. I would go back and repopulate.
It's just so me.
I thought about moving like my notes onto a calendar.
Yeah, I haven't done that yet.
But yeah, every day, like every session, I haven't done that yet. But yeah every day like every
Session I start with like the dates day of the week in time that you're at like it in legacy. Yeah, I had a Galarian
Google calendar
Yeah, that's great
Alright, yeah, I'm worried so I'm going to but I'm gonna keep moving here. Okay. I'm gonna try something interesting very dangerous. Oh
Knowing I'm assuming you know you share this about the the Johns always so Ramious is going to take a step up and behind
Asta oh, and he's just gonna be like
Asta get it get his bowl if you can and
He's going to reach out
with his deviant ability, his ghostly grasp, an attempt to restrain the creature
with an incorporeal arm, essentially.
This is dope.
That's pretty cool.
Your deviant ability, but this is the second time.
This is the second time today.
In the day, because you used it,
Ramius used it to save.
Flavor wise.
Yeah, yeah.
To save, well no, to help us to get
up.
Yeah, but it was flavor.
But, nonetheless, I used it.
Ramius naturally would be the one to reach out for a bowl.
Yeah.
Yes, exactly.
Get that bowl!
You can't have two bottle caps.
Can't have it.
Okay, so it's not the second mechanical time.
This is going to be an attack roll against your Fortitude DC.
Do you want to roll your Deviant John first to see if it goes haywire?
You do it after.
You do it after the ability.
Wait, but this is actually the first time, because the first one was Flavor, or you?
No, no, I'm saying I shouldn't have used it for Flavor, but I did.
So my Deviant is now a DC 10 flat check to have the kickback.
So this is bad.
But let me see if I can at least grapple it.
Wait a second.
It goes up by five incrementally, right?
Five DC, ten AC.
Five, ten, ten.
Oh wait, they're gonna go-
Backlash.
Dude, it's a cool idea.
Stick, first choice, best choice.
Do it.
It's terrible.
It's a horrible idea.
It's a wonderful idea.
But it's fun!
It is fun, but it should be the red kappa.
So just delay.
Uh...
Or do the blue one, and it might-
Yeah, that's what I'll do.
I'll delay.
That's smart. I wanted you to do you gonna move back
I'm gonna move back in delay just because it makes no sense
The creature is just gonna immediately get out of it before Asta's turn cuz I need someone else to do the athletics check to knock
The bowl out because mine's gonna be useless. Do you want to wait until the Kappa goes to try and do it?
Exactly. Okay. All right. We're going around to that and it is a blue Kappa's turn now blue Kappa's right next to Asta
I prefer being further away because then you have to use an action to move,
but then I'd be using an action to move.
And you can't do your 10-foot reach attack, right? Because you're too close now?
I can't. I have that range between 5 and 10 to do it.
You've tried to pull that baloney on me before and I don't like your baloney.
Your baloney puller. Your baloney sticks. Baloney sticks.
I used to like baloney as a kid.
I loved baloney. I used to like bologna as a kid. I loved bologna.
I did too.
I go through bologna phases where I would be like, I would love bologna and then I'd
be like, you know what?
Cool down bologna.
That's too much bologna.
I got it.
Where are you right now?
I don't need meat.
It's vegetarian.
You're in the down phase.
You're in the down phase.
It's going to spike back up.
My favorite thing about bologna is that I used to love a bologna sandwich,
a couple slices of bologna and just like yellow mustard.
Oh yeah, sure.
Absolutely delicious.
The funny thing about bologna is there is a point of, what's the word,
a tipping point of bologna.
Like one slice too much on a sandwich.
Too much bologna.
Too much bologna.
Yeah, this is hideous.
It's a very uncomfortable feeling when you're too much bologna.
It's not an adult food. It's not a food for adults.
You know what is an adult food and it's amazing? It's mortadella.
Mortadella is adult food.
Mortadella!
So you ever had Lebanon Bologna?
No.
Okay, you have, right? So my wife's from...
Lebanon's Pennsylvania.
My wife grew up in Hershey and Hershey's close to Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
Also close, and Lebanon is close to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair
Which is like, is this like a salami?
I overdosed on Lebanon Bologna
There's a brewery in Lebanon that makes a Lebanon Bologna beer and first of all, I was like what it's called Bologna and they're like
No, it's Lebanon Bologna and it is fucking amazing, but you can have you can have too much
Is this a hybrid?
Is this like a bologna salami?
It's like a distant cousin of bologna.
I mean, bologna and salami are...
It's a fancier cousin.
I don't like the word bologna anymore.
Bologna.
Stop saying bologna.
Please stop saying bologna.
Do you like bologna?
My son's from Bologna.
I gotta find it.
This is like, my sandwich was salami with mustard
on whole wheat bread.
Yeah, oh, so good.
And that's no cheese, no nut.
Like, that's what I liked as a kid, whatever.
I'm going to bring you a big bologna one of these days.
I would actually.
I would really, really love that.
A Lebanese bologna.
This looks awesome.
Is it Amish?
I think everything out there is kind of Amish.
It's a little bit Amish.
It's a little bit Amish.
I see a logo with a bearded man with a little hat.
And I'm like, I think this is Amish.
They came up with it.
You can slice it as thick as you want.
You don't want it to be too thick, though.
It's too much bologna.
No, the whole thing.
Yeah.
Big bite out.
Oh, sure.
Yeah.
All right, I'm going to get you one.
I would love that.
I'll probably forget.
Thank you.
I'll remind you.
It's my turn.
Bring it here.
Don't bring it to the studio.
Leave a pile of Lebanon bologna in Kate's seat.
And she'll be like, oh!
I'm going to start frying the dry aging meats from the lighting.
The lighting rig.
That's amazing.
Salami.
We'll put it where the band plays.
Let's take a look at this bologna.
All right, I'm just gonna do 17 attacks on Asta here.
First I'm gonna start with a claw.
And that's gonna be a natural one.
Nice!
You did it!
Huge start!
That's amazing.
Fumble, fall down.
Fumble, fall down. Fumble, fall down. Just a claw. Basic, natural attack. Fumble, fall down. Fumble, fall down.
Just a claw.
Basic, natch attack.
Fumble, fall down.
Melee attack.
Fall down, fall down.
What a poop turret.
Okay, this one is from Benjamin in Dallas, Texas.
Benjamin?
Be weird if he was from Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
That would be creepy.
It's called Cut the Bologna.
What? Cut the Bologna!
What? Cut the Bologna? How did that happen?
Benjamin from Dallas, Texas. This one is called The King and John.
Okay.
Your fumble is so bad that it elevates the level of chaos in the area
to a point where you've attracted for a brief moment the attention of the King and Yellow.
Come on.
Here's the yellow one! He's got you through the target's eyes!
Make a will save using the target creature's will DC.
So, whatever Asta's will DC is.
Fail, 11. Might be a critical fail.
What is your...
17.
Alright, so regular fail.
Confused for 1d4.
Yes!
I'll take confused. I don't mind confused.
What does confused give you?
Confused could be a way where it's just you attack a random creature.
You have to attack.
But there is an element of like, if you get you get another save I think to bring out take damage
Yeah, yeah, so all right, so I'm gonna put confused on there
That was its first attack so now it basically the way I see it can either attack
Asta or the red Kappa yeah
You all random you determine me. I'll roll randomly. So one, two, three, red kappa, four, five, six, Asta.
Yeah, I guess it could attack Barnes as well.
Or the tree, probably.
Yeah, the tree looks good.
I'm definitely adding Barnes.
All right, so one, two, red, three, four, Asta.
Why am I being punished for saying these things?
Well then the yellow one should be in there.
The yellow one's not 10 feet away.
Like it can attack from this position 10 feet
and red Asta Barnes.
Oh.
Oh, other Barnes.
Asta.
Oh man.
I'm so confused.
You have the besties.
I think you're lying, but.
Well we want it to hit the other creature for sure.
All right, that's an 18.
But of those attacks.
Miss, okay.
And then I believe I have to just keep attacking, right?
Yes.
All your actions to attack or move to attack or use cantrips
Yeah, all right, so here we go
That one's at Barnes
And that's gonna be a big old miss okay
Use and that's confused for one round one 24 rounds. Oh, okay two rounds all right choice off his game
I'm gonna love my game. We love my game. Okay now. I will go now You want to go in the initial slide you up the initiative tracker, and then brother
Tracker and reaching out this ghostly hand is going to attempt to use an ethereal grasp to grab the creature
It's against its 42 DC
Come on Norse found right now. That's not gonna do it.'s off guard by the way. I'm gonna bottle cap it.
Oh, well I guess I don't know.
It doesn't affect the forage stick.
How many caps you got?
He's off guard.
He's off guard from confused, you get in the off guard position.
What'd you roll?
I rolled a 15.
Interesting.
Off guard fortitude.
I know, he said a 17 on a reflex save was a fail.
I feel like their fortitudinous, their turtles with shaws on their backs.
Yeah, they probably higher fortitude than reflex, right?
I thought they would have lower reflex out of everything.
I don't think a 17's gonna do it.
For a 4, it should do C against.
15's.
15's not gonna do it.
I'm gonna bottle cap it.
Well, it'll be 17 because he's off guard.
Come on, come on, come on, Remius, come on.
Because if I crit, I can also do some cool stuff.
Give a cap, lose a cap.
Even worse, damn it.
I think he should have kept the 15,
but I wasn't gonna say anything.
Yeah, I might've, but I took the risk.
Okay, now, so yeah.
What a shitty ass roll from a shitty character.
Now I'll do a flat check.
Improv class, improv class.
Therapy.
God damn it.
What are you talking about?
Every time Joe screams improv class.
Why did you do?
And I failed the flat check.
Oh no. Obviously. Oh, for you to. Just all single digits. Improv class. Why did you do? And I failed the flat show.
Oh no.
Obviously.
Just all single digits.
Oh another single digit.
What do you know?
Piece of shit.
So he reaches out to grasp the thing.
Alright, good switch screen session guys.
Let me take, let me all take five.
McD is stopping filming.
McD is like lowering.
Let's get a water.
He's like, this is enough content.
This is good enough.
Water break. McD just like slowly lowered the?
Louder every see too much remember when we said behind the scenes was fun
Go want to watch us shit. That's that word we talked about before a therapy therapy
Why there are why he reaches out and in that moment he realizes he's extended too far.
He's reached too far into these realms of unknown cosmic forces that he doesn't understand
and something, something touches his mind that is inexplicable and
horrifying to have him question his entire reality, not just the
horrible things that have happened in his past and what he's trying to do to
help those things. The question of whether anything matters at all, or if
there's no point in even being alive and he becomes frightened three. Oh my god
That's your backlash. That's your mild backlash. That's my mile my gosh
Frightened holy crap
Shutters first backlash. I think yeah, I think so right. I've had a backlash. Did you have a backlash?
It was small. It was when we were in the tiny little hut in the trees
yeah, I think the first time the first time that I've backlash.
And boy, okay, so then with that, he's going to run in fear.
And kind of run kind of behind the tree next to Zephyr.
And you see his eyes wide and he's like looking at you, Zephyr, and just
shuddering and not even speaking.
That's shitty, but also awesome for me because my invigorating fear goes into effect where a creature within 60 feet gains the frightened condition,
and Asta like starts laughing at Ramius running away, and I gain temporary hit points. Whoa, is this a reaction? Are you an evil character? Yes!
Did you see what she did to the wedding dress?
Dude, she's worse than a demon from the deepest abyss.
Is it an ally? Even if an ally gets frightened?
A creature and it says you are invigorated by the shock of a prank or the thrum of terror
and I gain temporary hit points equal to my level.
Wow.
That's wild.
Creature within 60 feet.
So even your ally, you're just like, ha ha ha ha.
My sister.
She's not laughing at Brother Ramious.
She's just like laughing.
No, she's laughing at like.
The concepts of fear.
Just like laughing in the face of fear.
Like she's unafraid.
She's the Joker.
I'm the kidder.
I'm the kidder.
The way Barnes is hearing it, she's laughing at Brother Ramious.
That's how I hear it, yeah.
That's what it sounds like.
Laughing that...
Well if you ask her later, that's not what happened.
Okay.
It could be like maniacally, huh?
Ah ha ha ha ha!
This confused Kappa in front of you, brother Ramious, frightened three.
This is ugly. Let's find out what happens right after this quick break.
Damn it.

All right, we're back and it's Yellow Turtle O'Clock. I really thought you guys were going
to stop this. Now, I got a couple of Barnes's and a Buggles.
Barnes has taken the lick and keeps on ticking.
I'm going to go Barnes first, then Buggles.
I'm going to attack the Barnes that is 10 feet away from me because I can do whatever I want.
First, Barnes miss with a 16 and then Buggles.
Oh, natural 20 came off of it. 21, though. That with a 16. And then, Buggles, oh, actual 20 came off of it.
21 though.
Ah, that's a hit.
Hits poor Buggles for nearly max damage.
12 points of slashing damage.
Oh, Buggles.
And then it is going to, it's going to step away,
just to force Barnes, and pretty much everybody,
with the exception of Zephyr, to step up to it. Speaking of Zephyr, it's your turn. Well
I'm seeing all of this happen and everyone freaking out we're not doing
that well and I was ready to do bow stuff but... You into bow stuff? The bow stuff but I
know that my Titan Swing could knock them prone. Ooh, on a crit?
I've already used it today, I think.
On a crit?
Did you?
On a crit, I think.
Did you use it against the griffin?
I think I did.
In the last episode.
What did you use it against the griffin though?
That doesn't make any sense.
Because it was flying.
Or would you?
I feel like you did use it.
I feel like you've used it recently.
Did use it today.
Yeah.
Use it or lose it.
If only we had a recorded record.
We've had three combats today.
Yeah.
It's been a beefy day.
Francis, do you remember anybody say anything about Titan Swing?
I relit.
Yep.
That's confirmed.
I'm just getting word from Francis.
Can I get the time code?
Francis.
He's about to give me the time code.
It's just in.
It's just in. It's just in.
We believe you, friends.
And now to Kate with her deviant ability.
Kate, here we go.
Free action.
Drop my bow to leave monastic archer stance instead of taking an action to do so.
Wait, sorry, hold on.
What?
What?
Joe, you failed the flat check.
But doesn't, can't you still do the action?
So here's the thing, you said you'd roll it first.
It says when you attempt to use the deviation,
roll a DC5 flat check.
On a success, you use your deviation and the DC goes up.
To a maximum of 20.
On a failure, you use your deviation
and then suffer the backlash effect.
You're still able to do so you can grapple.
No, he did do it. He just rolled.
No, I did.
He just rolled badly.
Yeah, we did it all right.
No, but you're supposed to roll the check first and then you get to...
It doesn't matter.
It didn't matter.
Now, it would frighten, would affect the roll.
However, it says you take the backlash after the effect back.
So essentially there was no difference in when we rolled it.
But as usual, the flat check does happen.
You rolled bad on the flat check and then you rolled and then you did bad on the grapple?
No.
I rolled bad on the grapple, I bottle capped it, I failed the grapple again, and then I
rolled the flat check.
Incorrect order of operations.
However, by the wording, it says that you are impacted by the backlash after the effect.
So if you want to do it, you're going to roll a DC 10 flat check first. And then, it doesn't matter.
And still do it.
Well she's going to drop her Boat of Leave, Manasig Archer stance.
Take one step up to Mr. Yellow.
Okay.
Um, and you see her limbs start to elongate as I roll my flat check.
Fail.
Ugh.
Does it matter if it's a one?
No, not on the flat check.
That's your one?
Yeah.
No, it's a flat check.
It's just a flat check.
Better on the flat check.
So, and you haven't taken-
Get that out of the way.
Put this.
I think you take a mild backlash.
So what is the mild backlash?
Well, do your thing first,
and then we'll talk backlash.
She wants to run up and use Titan Swing.
So, wait, yeah.
It's a melee strike.
It's a melee strike.
Yep, two action feet.
Actions.
I never like.
Actions, make a melee strike.
If you hit, you're gonna deal an extra die of damage
and push me back five feet.
Come on.
No. Oh. 15. No.
Oh.
15.
No.
15.
Now, what is the backlash for Titan Swing?
The mild backlash.
So she still doesn't have control over this.
So her limbs elongate.
She's trying to not get prone
and she just cannot control her limbs
when they're in this situation.
The mild backlash is my metabolism immediately burns
through my body's energy stores,
making me enfeebled one and clumsy one
until I take a bite of food,
which usually requires two interact actions.
To take it out and then to eat it.
Oh man.
Enfeebled and clumsy.
Enfeebled one, physically weakened.
Trying to think of a worse effect for a switch hitter monk.
Yeah, I mean like if I bring my bull back out,
that's all decks, so I can counteract that,
but I'm still clumsy.
All right, that's what I'm saying,
it's hit both your melee attacks and your ranged attacks.
So your melee attacks, your damage rolls,
your athletics checks, everything strength based
goes down by one, and then clumsy is your AC goes down, your decks. So yeah, it's the worst the worst possible thing
For you and that's the end of your turn. Yep
Asta
This is real bad. Yeah, and you are the party's frontline fighter
I know what do you do? I have I know you're all gonna
think it's a bad idea. I love it already. Yes. So with the water basically I have a
really high thievery who would have guessed and I have a feat that's like
pickpocket I can steal or palm items without taking a negative to
it like for instance if we're in a battle or it's close or in someone's pocket or concealed whatever so I'm wondering would it be
worth it to do a thievery check to try to scoop the water out.
Okay here's how I'm going to interpret. Uh you would still need to grapple,
restrain, or stun it first to then make that check. And then I would allow that
check even though that's not the way it's intended. It's tended to be an
athletics check but I think that's that's a cool idea. However you still
need to fulfill the first condition first. I also think that we might be
overthinking all the cuteness and we can just kill them. I think we can just
kill them. I think we can just kill.. I think we can just kill I'm saying the same thing.
Mechanically it's probably going to slow them. Exactly. It's not going to be worth the double actions. Now if one person grappled and another person did the athletics that's fine it's one action each but if you have to
grapple and then wait a whole round to get an effective athletics check. Now that said if she uses the thievery to pickpocket the water, maybe she could avoid taking the map, in which case it might be more effective.
To grapple it first.
Because if you grapple and then make the attempt to disturb the water, you take the map.
Both U-Barns and U-Buggles rolled successfully enough on this check to know that it reduces
its speed to five feet.
Why is that important?
Is that now it can't use the step action it would then provoke.
That's really the only benefit it's going to get.
Just kill them.
You don't think it's worth it?
Spellstrike.
Okay. Yep. That was my other...
Do 40 points of damage right now.
Yeah. That's the best.
More if you had an AOO, then it would be worth it.
I mean, the other thing, if you slow them all to five feet of movement, you could run up and do what we're going to do with their headwaters.
And if we had...
We'd let them live, but...
Yeah. I'm going to do a Spellstrike.
Okay.
Professor Eric pointed out that one of my spells
that I use quite often, Gouging Claw,
because of the way the sheet was laid out,
I didn't realize on a regular hit
I also can deal bleed damage.
So, persistent bleed.
So, I'm gonna do.
Remastered Gouging Claw.
It's Remastered Gouging Claw, so it's new.
And thank you for pointing that out, appreciate it.
I'm gonna kill you okay
Here we go. It's off guard
Yeah, it's off guard, but keep in mind once you do deal damage to it
It will no longer it'll roll again and it to be clear for audio listeners. I'm attacking it gets a roll
It's a roll. Who's the blue one DC 11 Leonardo Leonardo DC 11 flat check to recover from the trash
Okay, I'm gonna roll actually I'm gonna roll this die come on
It's not a big this could turn the fight right here. Here we go
That was a weird roll, but that's a 19 19 is a hit. Hey
Check natural 20 on the flat check so it's no longer confused. However. That's a big old hit all right so that's gonna be
There we go
You pick up the katana plus all the gouging.
Ooh.
She's doing the Troy thing.
Take one from my eye.
Oh!
Wait.
No, keep doing the, oh!
Make up a high number.
14 for the gouging claw.
Okay.
I'm gonna roll the bleed.
Don't roll the bleed, just tell me how much bleed it is,
because it ticks on its turn.
So it's three points of bleed?
Yeah, plus three points of bleed.
So what'd I say, 14, plus three points of bleed?
So persistent three bleed.
And then let me do my katana damage, because that was just the gouging claw.
Is it a die, the bleed, or is it bleed three?
Or is it bleed 1d6 and you rolled a three?
So what is it? Hmm. You guys are asking
really good questions. Did you roll and say 3? No no no
you said to just tell you what it is and it says plus
3 persistent bleed. Okay. Yeah. 3.
Alright so katana. Gosh I love when I get to hit.
So rare. 10 max damage.
Nice.
14 more points of damage.
14 more on top of that?
So 14 Katana and then through her Katana,
you see like this extra wave of energy come back
the other way, like an invisible swipe the other way.
And that's the gouging claw with the persistent bleed.
So that's my first two actions.
28 points of damage and three points of bleed.
That's so phenomenal.
It's turn.
Huge.
Yeah!
That was your first attack, right?
First attack, two actions, spell strike.
One more.
Third, I'm gonna do my Dimensional Assault.
Yes, Sydney!
And I'm gonna move between the blue and the red.
That's Sydney Emanuel over there?
Yeah, she can read.
She's in that musical theater.
She read.
How to Play Pathfinder?
So now Dimensional Assault with the map
so it might not hit but it's still
And remember
it's minus ten.
Yes. Which I also did not realize
but Professor Eric pointed that out.
Spellstrike counts as two attacks on your map I also did not realize, but Professor Eric pointed that out. Because Spellstrike is two. Spellstrike counts as two attacks on your map,
which I did not realize.
I think I was doing it sometimes,
and then sometimes I would forget.
So thank you, Professor Eric.
Okay.
So natural 20.
Natural three.
But now she set herself up between blue and red
so that Barnes can flank.
Like either one.
From either one, so that's helpful.
Nice, good turn there, Asta.
Look at Asta. Speaking of old Theomachus, what do you got, Barnes? That is true, I could flank either one, so that's helpful. Nice, good turn there, Asta. Look at Asta!
Speaking of old Theomachus, what do you got, Barnes?
That is true, I could flank either one of those,
but I also am worried about old Michelangelo here
with Zephyr.
Cowabunga, Barnes!
Well, Buckles is there too.
That's another reason I'm worried.
Are you still threatening,
like you can still flank with me, right?
Yeah, I don't see why not. I'm just- I'm feebled and I'm clumsy. It doesn't say anything about, like...
I can't flank, or I'm scared.
You're still threatening. She's still threatening.
Why not?
Why not just take out one guy?
If we can.
Cause I don't wanna- I'm afraid of leaving the two of them vulnerable. And you, who's frightened.
Yeah, but...
Oss is surrounded by two creatures.
Well, he's got two barns is I'll be I think I
Don't think they can both do I get into flanking position with any with any one of them
Yeah in the name one action, which is great
But I'm just trying to decide who needs the most help is the blue
I agree it would be nice to take out the take out the take out Leo. Yeah taking out Leo
All right, so I'll do that. So the original barns, the second barns vanishes.
Okay.
And then it will reappear in the square
flanking with Asta.
Okay. Cool.
And then we will do-
Just shining that mirror from the sun.
Whoop whoop.
Shimmers over here.
Okay, and I'll take a swing with the plus one short sword.
Come on.
Natural five. Man, we can't get it because
it is off guard we'll find it's a 14 14 yeah okay what a shame all right let's
continue to play strategically this the original Barnes will move okay let me
just check here yeah the original Barnes will then move which the second one the
reflection will disappear.
I'll move into flanking position with Zephyr.
Awesome.
Ah, okay.
Awesome.
Thereby making the yellow one off guard.
But it's the red one's turn.
It's a great turn.
And the red one's right there next to him.
It would have been a better turn if I had hit.
Yeah, if you had crit, it would have been even better.
That would have been even better.
All right, does Osta have an attack of opportunity?
The reason I asked is because if you had knocked this one down to five, its first step here
would provoke, but it's going to step into flanking against Asta, lowering your AC by
two due to off guard, and then strike with the claw, natural 20.
There it is.
On the plus sign, the flanking didn't matter.
Can you lower the volume on your computer?
Here comes the double damage. It is not a named kappa
Not great ten points of slashing. Oh, it could have been worse
Still bad for me. The only third level second attack against your off guard AC That's gonna be another hit but not a crit you tell me
24 With off guard no, that, but not a crit you tell me 24
With off guard no, that's still not a crit. Okay. This one is going to be out of the box
There's the max damage 13. Oh slashing so that could have been 26 on the first one
But 13 plus 7 that's 20 points of slashing right there 23. I'm so hurt. Thank you. Yeah, I'm so hurt
Well, maybe Buggles can help you? My temp HP gone.
Gone. And the other one's gonna go before your turn.
Before any of us go. I'm gonna go down.
Before I go.
Shit.
Buggles, he sees Ramius running away.
And he's just been hit himself.
He turns and says,
Ravius, brother Ravius, please come back.
And then this light comes into his eyes.
And here in this other language, it's like,
let the coward flee.
The blood and the glory will be ours.
And his psyche is unleashed, takes away energy
and he's going to do a cold based ignition
on the yellow one right there.
On the yellow one.
Kill it. Pop.
Kill it.
That is a 15.
Yes.
I'm gonna, shit. Even with the flanking?
He's not flanked.
Oh.
He's not flanked, about.
Shit, I was gonna bottle cap it,
but you already told me so. Oh, you can cap it. I'm gonna gasp. He just wants flanked. Oh. He's not flanked, above all. Shit, I was gonna bottle cap it, but you already told me so.
Oh, you can cap it.
I'm gonna guess.
He just wants your cap.
I mean, I knew it.
Because you felt pretty confident 15 was a miss.
So yeah, you can cap it.
Try it.
Natty 15, that's a 24.
That's a hit.
Beautiful.
Yeah, it'd be one thing if you were like 17.
That's 32 points of damage. Holy!
And it's dead.
Yeah!
Bugles!
Oh my god, Bugles!
Turn down for what?
Wow, that completely changed the tide of this battle now, where the blue one is in really
bad shape, red one still has yet to be hit, but in one pop you take him out.
Any actions left?
Yes.
I'm going with, and then he's going to press his fingers to his temple and do a side burst
at the blue kappa.
Okay.
That one's going to get, or is that just a check?
Reflex save.
Yeah, you can see it through the trees there.
So let's do a reflex save
That's gonna be a 19
Okay, that is just makes it so that is a total of four points of bludgeoning damage and that's enough to kill that
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
That's amazing. Wow.
Wow, that enormous.
That was incredible. Enormous turn.
I love that K'uulakan.
The bleed damage would have killed it on its turn, but it still would have got three attacks on you if I won.
That's huge. I was hoping you'd go after the red one.
But, alright, so now we go to the top of round three.
Everything has changed here.
It would have been the blue turtle's turn.
Instead it goes to brother Ramious who is still frightened
yeah it just automatically rolled your recovery check and oh no the cap that
was the Kappa's damage. All right Ramious is going to shuddering with
fear not wanting to leave his allies behind though he's going to step out
from behind the tree and he will cast heal on Asta. So he reaches across with a potent heal on Asta.
Nope, not potent at all. A garbage heal from a useless character, as has
been determined last turn. Just confirming. I don't understand why you
have to be so cruel to Brother Ramies. We't know it's your fault feel bad 19 points that's team
points still incredibly that was not photon that was a 2-1-1 on 2d8 a 19
might keep her up yeah huge but yeah I mean it is a juicy we have a we're
running out of spells but yeah but there's a lot of opportunity for us to get in between Asta and this last Cap.
Yeah, yeah, we're fine.
Asta breathes and looks behind her because Remus ran so far away and she sees you through
the tree.
Thank you!
Now he's frightened too.
Now he's frightened too.
Would have been yellow Capistarion instead it goes to Zephyr who's just like,
You guys, we got this.
Gangly old Zephyr.
It's my turn and the day that this airs, it's my birthday.
Oh!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Or else.
Or else.
Or else.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Happy birthday to you and my sister.
Oh, it's Singh's birthday?
It's Singh's birthday too.
Happy birthday.
Hi, Singh.
Yeah.
Virgos.
Hi, future K.
August Virgos.
I also have to cancel my free MLB.TV subscription
on this day.
How'd you get that?
From gambling.
Oh, okay.
From gambling.
That to me is the most important thing happening
on August 29th.
Free trial?
Free trial.
When you cancel it, just remember this moment
and then text Kate.
Text Kate, and I'll text you to text Singh.
Happy birthday, I canceled my subscription I made while I was gambling drunk.
I'll be lucky if I remember.
Cancel a little bit.
So I'm next to the space where I dropped my bow.
So I'd like to pick it up without needing to move.
OK.
And I feel like I should be able to do that.
Like, I can reach into the next square.
Yeah, it's fine.
So she picks it up.
You got big, long, gangly arms, don't you?
Yeah, she's tall for a lady, I think.
She picks it up.
First action, second action, monastic archer stance.
Third action, big bad red is 30 feet away from me.
There he is.
Just outside my volley.
I'm going to try to hit it, to stun it, to bring it down.
Nice.
Show me what you got.
Let's try, I got this really big, fat, heavy dice
that's got like swirlies and rainbow like resin in it.
From a show.
Yeah, it's gorgeous.
Someone gave it to me and they were like, you roll so badly.
Next time you roll badly, you can just take it and use it as like a blunt force trauma object at Troy.
That's nice.
That's perfect.
Sounds like a true fan.
Condoning murder.
Here we go.
Number one. It might. Throw it. It might. Throw it. Throw it a true fan. And Donnie and Murphy. Here we go. Number one.
It might.
Throw it.
Throw it.
Kill him.
And that's with the penalties?
Yeah, everything's all together.
It's a miss.
Okay.
I will say without those penalties,
probably would have been a hit.
Probably a hit.
Okay.
Probably guaranteed to be a hit.
No, it's only like a negative one with everything, so.
Shocker, that's exactly it a negative one with everything so
No 19 to hit I'm pretty sure with the penalties with all the penalties
So cool, I'm gonna roll my damage
Six points of damage. Okay. Is that with the penalty? Cause you take one less for strength-based damage.
Well, on the attack though, not the...
And on the damage.
Oh, and on the damage?
Yeah, and feebled.
So it's automatically doing it.
Oh no, not on a ranged.
Not on my... Strength-based melee,
yeah, you're right.
Not on my longbow.
So it's six points of damage,
and then also stunning fists is in effect.
Hopefully I stun you, roll a fortitude save
Okay, and now what do we learn recently? I'm supposed to do that before the damage or after the damage. Do you remember?
Oh, this is a thing. The damage goes first. Damage goes first. All right, so what am I rolling fortitude? Fortitude save
14 fail. Yes. Oh god, so
Stunned one. You're stunned one. Yes
It like happens so rarely that I forget every time I want to make sure that I know you're stunned one, yes. It happens so rarely that I forget every time
I wanna make sure that I know.
You're stunned one.
So eight points of damage, stunned one.
Hopefully that volley for someone to spike.
All right, that's Brute's Magoots.
Asta and Barnes, are you gonna be able to capitalize?
Starting with you, Asta.
All right.
Asta does have Recharge Spellstrike
because she did her Dimensional Assault, which I love.
So I think I'm gonna Spellstrike.
Beautiful.
Yeah, baby.
It's great.
The cantrips, I don't even have to use at first level.
All right, let's do, hmm, what are we feeling today?
Actually, I'll just do Gouging Claw again,
because that bleed is so awesome.
I wish I knew about that before.
All right.
Me three, I wish I knew how to read my character sheet.
No, all right.
Katana swing, oh baby!
26.
Yeah, that's a hit.
Not a crit?
No, I was looking to see, I know.
I didn't have stunt, Lord, it's a hit.
That still might be a.
I think I'll put it out.
Put it out of its misery.
All right, here we go.
Roll well.
Eight on the katana.
Okay. There we go.
And here we go for gouging claw.
Eight on the gouging claw plus three persistent.
Plus three persistent blade, still up.
Wow, that's great though.
16 points. That's awesome.
That's damage, nice work.
All right, so that was first two.
And you know what, I'll take a third with the map, just regular style,
just to see.
Oh!
Ah!
That one?
It was on a 19.
It rolled through one.
Oh, come on, no!
Self decapitation.
I love how we forget that sometimes you can do that.
Yeah, that's why you don't take it sometimes.
It's tricky.
Nothing can go wrong, I'll live forever.
It's tricky.
Okay, this one from Bjorn.
Bjorn. Bjorn.
Bjorn. Bjorn.
Hello, Bjorn.
In Hallikis Vastra Gotelands,
eonsverking.
Nailed it.
It's Sweden.
It means bear, by the way.
In Sweden?
It means bear.
I guess it's Sweden.
Bjorn? Yeah. Is S-V-E-R-I the way. In Sweden? Oh. It means bear. I guess it's Sweden. Bjorn?
Yeah.
Oh!
It's S-V-E-R-I-G-E Sweden?
Yeah.
In Swedish?
Yeah, so, uh, and this one's called, oh shit.
Oh, that's great.
Oh shit.
You leave an annoyingly obvious opening in your defense.
Your attack misses and the target gets a free attack of opportunity against you
Even if they don't have the necessary feet
Thanks Bjorn talk to muck it really nice of you. Thank you
Counteracts the fumble. Oh if I speak Swedish does it say if I speak it should be a clause in there
It counteracts the fumble talks to muck it. Absolutely not. Okay. Well, thanks Bjorn natural 20 on the
Natural 20 on the attack. Oh no! Natural 20!
Bjorn you son of a bitch!
Just doing good again.
Oh my god, I was about to say,
I was gonna say there goes the 19 points of healing
that Ramius gave you, but I was like I'd have to crit.
Boom, planet die, fucking ball sack.
Minimum damage, eight points of slashing.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Again, that could have be a maximum of 26.
Oh, I would have, yeah.
That's the swing, 8 to 26.
Wow!
That would have dissolved the new NATO treaty.
All right, do you have anything left?
That was my turn, yeah.
That was your move.
All right, it's up to Barnes here because the red kappa will go next and Asta's in rough
shape.
Okay, Barnes is just going to swing on around to just the old fashioned way.
He's gonna get into flanking with Asta.
There you go.
I'll take a swing with the short sword.
Swing with the short sword.
Natural 20.
Yeah, my god!
And thus ends this creature.
Let's see if you got a cool extra power from the hand.
There could be a thing, it's like,
immediately heal all your friends, 1d6.
Because a fairy flies out of the sky
from the original Legend of Zelda.
You never know.
That's the magic of the fumbles.
That's why we do it.
All right, this one from Chris in Yakima, Washington.
Hi Chris.
Yakima, I can never get these right in Yakima, Washington Hi Chris Yakima, I can never get these right Yakima Washington
Critical Momentum your critical strike deals double damage and gain an extra action on your next turn
Oh cool next combat
Yeah, you know what this is over to give you the benefit of that on the next turn you get four actions Wow next combat
Open with four actions. Yeah next combat that carrier. That carry over. That's awesome. Thank you, Chris.
Amazing.
What a cool Chris.
Presuming you kill him.
Yeah, presuming he kills.
Oh, he's dead.
So dead.
Barnes.
He procs the weakness too, right?
Yeah, well.
Yes.
No.
You succeeded.
I succeeded, but I didn't have any weaknesses.
Oh, but I succeeded, so I can apply it.
Oh.
Well, let me read the text,
because this actually is.
Oh, don't read the text.
Just roll the damage without the weakness first. Let's see if it kills. Press your error. Dude, the text. Go tell me not to apply it. Okay. Well, let me read the text, because this actually is- Oh, don't read the text. Just roll the damage without the weakness first.
Let's see if it kills.
Press your arrow.
Do the text-
Go tell me not to read it.
The text of the Thaumaturge
is a book in and of itself.
Oh yeah.
I look at something like that,
I'm like, never interested in playing.
That's gonna be 34 points of slashing damage.
Yeah, he's dead.
Yeah!
Gah!
Never read the text!
Woo!
That's the glass cannon wave
Yeah, nice work
Barnes
Wow
And I'm gonna put like a big old note on my computer
Big old note
I put it in my notes too
Asta immediately tries to scoop up the water
Asta tries to scoop up the water
Spills onto the ground
It might not be the same water
She just wants some of the water The headwaters the ground. It might not be the same water.
She just wants some of the water.
The headwaters are like 50 feet ahead.
You could lick its head bowl.
Wait, wait, wait.
Does anyone have a snack?
I feel really weird.
Wanna eat cereal out of its head?
Asta digs in her bag.
She finds her beef jerky.
Ooh, thank you.
Are you okay?
I don't know.
I still can't control whatever that is.
Maybe you should sit down.
You look a little faint.
Asta, back off. Help me. She gets a little is. Maybe you should sit down. You look you look a little faint
I'm cool. I'm you're definitely cool. Where's brother Ramies like from behind a tree?
Why did you laugh at him running away I I didn't laugh at him running away. You're laughing now.
No, I'm not!
I thought it was the laughing of demons.
I could hear the laughter in my mind.
Is that what scared you?
Us laughing at you scared you?
No, it was something else.
Something far darker.
You okay?
Yes, my heart is coming back to normal pace.
I thought I was going to die.
I thought I saw my own death.
Or started feeling it.
I don't know what that was, but I don't want to try that thing anymore.
At least not for a while.
I think, um...
The powers were playing with the Sosoio. or at least not for a while. I think-
The powers we're playing with, this Osoyo,
it is not to be toyed with or used lightly.
And he just kind of like falls to the ground,
like to a knee, like pulls his backpack off.
Zephyr comes over and sits down by you
while she eats the jerky.
She's like, I agree.
Every single time I try to use it,
if something bad happens, I can't control it.
I don't think.
I'm not ready to use it.
Do you remember the dream that we had?
That masked figure, the...
Yeah.
I didn't see that exactly,
but I felt as if we're being watched.
As if there's some sort of presence,
far more powerful than we could ever understand, watching
everything we do, laughing at us. I could hear the laughter as if it was here, as if
it was part of this plane. What are you, why are you pointing at Asta?
I laughed. I was laughing only a little.
Was you laughing? Well, I laughed because I I was laughing only a little. Was you laughing?
Well, I laughed because I felt...
I don't know.
Was you laughing?
No, well, not at you, Brother Remius.
I was just laughing at our situation.
How could you laugh at that?
You nearly died.
I reached out to heal you.
I don't know.
It's kind of...
To be the...
We're on the back of a demigod?
We all almost die every day.
Why not laugh?
Some people laugh when they get nervous.
I'm not nervous.
Okay.
I'm not nervous.
All right.
Sharip.
You still look rather, rather hurt.
Let me, let me care for your wounds.
And he's going to try to distract.
Fuck all this holding up a cross.
You got a second pens, man.
I got two.
Yeah, fuck you all.
Look out.
Two pens. holding up a cross. You got a second pens, Vin. I got two. Yeah, fuck you all. Ah ha ha.
Look out.
Two pens.
Remius is gonna try to distract himself from this fear
as his actual mechanical fear ebbs away
by focusing on medical healing, patching up.
Yeah, I think we all could use that.
Asta, yeah.
While you're healing, Asta,
and we're all like kind of sitting together
on the ground, taking a breather.
Medical healing.
Thank you, Skip.
I want medical healing.
Medical healing.
Medical healing.
Medical healing.
His dad shot him.
That's true.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm like, I'm going to go to the bathroom. His dad shot him.
That's true.
I think you've made that joke before.
Natural 20.
Oh, there we go.
As soon as he got back in the zone
and working on what he knows and loves,
he heals you up.
I actually increased the DC,
so I would get the plus 10.
So how much are you down? I mean this would be so much
Uh, 10, over 10.
Over 10, okay.
Oh yeah, that's already like 30.
Yeah, I'm back up.
Thank you so much. She had like these huge, you know, gouging claw marks through her that have now healed.
Should we, should we actually rest?
How is everyone feeling? We've been through a lot.
The headwaters are right there.
But what if we encounter more protectors on the way there?
Also here, she walks like loping through the forest.
Also I wonder...
Father, she lopes the father we are from saving you, don't they?
I also wonder what happens when she's unsummoned.
Do we go to her realm with her?
So I'm not sure, do we rest?
Isn't she here?
Doesn't she just stay?
Didn't she rise from the ground?
Isn't she the earth itself?
Perhaps she assimilates back.
But you're right, Barnes, I didn't-
We should waste no time.
I zoomed out on the map and I realized
we're very close to the headwaters. So I'm gonna, we can literally didn't. We should waste no time. I zoomed out on the map and I realized we're very close to the headwaters so I'm gonna,
we can literally see it.
We should go.
Buggles, are you okay?
Perception check first?
Well, before we go.
Are we really that close to our end goal on this thing?
It appears so.
If you look at the map there, that's the head of the creature.
No, you walked for a while down the slopes until you came to here.
It's almost as if they are-
It's a hundred feet.
They were the guardians of the spring that you dispatched.
Okay.
He gets up.
Does anybody else need it?
Oh, please.
When you turn to look at Buggles, he is down on his knees by the body of the Kappa that he recently killed. And he like looks up with this bewildered look on his eyes.
There's this mouthful of the creature's flesh
and blood like dripping down his front.
And he's, and his like fists are like soaked in blood.
It's like, ah, ah.
As the fight ended with a round left of the K'uulukan's presence.
And he just slides across the forest floor, terrified of what he's done.
Ramius?
Argus?
Something's wrong with Boggles.
It's the K'uulukan.
Argus, are you there?
It spits out the bits of meat and blood.
I don't know what happened. What happened?
It's all right, Muggles.
It was the primal urges of the Kaulacan.
It's not you.
It is not you.
It grows more powerful within you, though, does it not?
Yes, yes.
Help me.
I'll help you, come here.
Can I?
And he says he has also heard,
but he's also madly in love. Asta, could you bring him
some water on a rag, a wet rag?
Asta dips part of her robe
into some of the spilled headwater and she's like,
We're here buckles. It's okay. And she's like wiping your mouth off trying to get the blood off your face
Okay, could I roll a diverse lore or an esoteric lore on the Kula Kong?
All right Barnes, yeah, cuz you're still kind of new to this whole buckles
He recognized very early, but I don't think I've ever rolled on it mechanically.
And now you see him feasting on the flesh of your victims.
OK, that's a 20 on the Esoteric War.
So this would be you wouldn't be sure.
This could either be a possession.
This could be a spirit that has attached itself to a living mind, or it could just be a possession. This could be a spirit that has attached itself to a living mind. Or it
could just be a purely psychological phenomenon.
A split personality.
You wouldn't know.
Right.
Interesting.
I didn't consider that.
I didn't consider that either. That's very interesting.
Barnes is going to make a mental note to do more research when we get back to a place
with a library.
Like you went through so much trauma, it could potentially like split your mind.
Manifested that way.
And you hide your own power from yourself, perhaps,
because you're fearful.
Right, it's his innate psychic ability.
That's how it, yeah.
Did anyone ever win the dollar
for guessing the inspiration for this character?
Not yet.
Okay, because I feel like that's gonna open
some other ways there.
That did open a bunch of doors in my head.
Yeah. Not there yet, but I'm sure I was just remember when I was in my the psychology class. I took in high school
We watched Sybil. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, which felt
Perfectly fine thing to do on a you know Tuesday morning, but I
Questioned the educational value of it now. That's like a show that Sybil Shepherd started. That's right
Please watch the show was moonlighting
No, no, it's the famous Sally Field. Yeah, it was that book was huge when I was a kid that was that book was like a top
No, it was like bestseller. Yeah, I always thought
It's funny. I forgot about that that you had put that out there
I don't ever talk to you about this, but I always thought
Split personality as opposed to like a spirit and I always thought that the inspiration was Fight Club is what it
sounded like oh okay in that it was like Tyler Durden is created to protect the
weakness of yeah you know another character yeah so not what I'm oh I'm
not what I was thinking of but yeah it's sort of similar in that way yeah I'm just saying we've
never seen them both in the same room at the same time
So never seen me and bread pit together. Yeah
That's who I was talking about
Have you heal us all up? Are you down? Yeah, it took me 20 minutes to heal Buggles
I got you 14 over the course of 20 minutes. Are you up?
I'm mostly fine. All right, whole turn is attention. Oh, actually, no,
I'm totally fine. Okay, I'll turn his attention to Barnes. Oops. I've done that twice now.
Yeah. Oh, there we go. So that should do me. Yeah, that is going to be 15. Okay, great.
All right. Let's proceed to the headquarters. You said you want to do a perception
I don't want to yeah, all right, so again. Give me that perception check crack open my new north foundry
Oh beautiful
It's jewelry box. I know right like this is actually the same stone that the Matthew dice
Oh, you got the trunk the blue labradorite Wow
boy
Fancy boy
Okay, that's gonna be 18. 18. You're searching the bodies?
Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you're searching the area. And so you might be looked down at these bodies,
look down at the corpse of the one that was being feasted on by bucklesles. Look over at Buggles. Buggles is still like maybe wiping
the blood from his mouth. And you notice that there is like a movable part of the shell
of the creature and hidden inside is a like gourd of liquor, some sort of liquor. Smells
like fruit.
It was like for a second that you've never had a drink in your life.
Like some sort of you're reading it.
Liquor.
Liquor.
Is it a liquor?
Liquor.
It's like a sacred fruit liquor.
Cappadraft.
Inside of this little gourd very similar different but similar to the
gourd that you got from gentheal to capture the headwaters.
It's a sangria.
And every single one of them has one of these and they act as minor healing potions.
Oh, oh.
Three minor healing potions in the form of these sacred fruit liqueurs.
Wow, that's cool.
And do they have like a little bit of like,
little booze associated with it?
That's my kind of healing potion.
Yeah, that's my kind of healing potion.
It's healing.
It's healing, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow, we're checking the bodies though.
I mean, Asta did actually want to see
if she can scoop any of the headwater
or has it all spilled?
Yeah, I'd say maybe one of them kind of slumped in such a way that you do see a little
bit of residue left in the bowl of their head.
She had emptied her canteen and then Zephyr yelled at her about not filling the headwater.
I know, you need water.
But she would like to dump.
We're in the jungle.
She has two canteens.
She would like to dump the headwater into the canteen.
She kind of grabbed the deceased head of this kappa to try and pour what little remaining
headwater exists in its bowl into your canteen and you just hear one of their voices yet
again echo through you, blasphemer.
Yeah, it's really gross.
Zephyr is watching you, but she's still like really tired and she's just like shaking her
head.
Brother Amius too, like from the rocks on it, it's just like, it's so disrespectful.
I don't know what to do sometimes. Brother Ami is too like from the rocks on it. It's just like it's so disrespectful
She's raised like an animal you've already
That is so rude he didn't say that you're far away we're talking to each other
Astor this is we are already trespassers on this place. They are not wrong what you do
degrades their memory
If we're already trespassers, and you just took part in killing them
Why is this so wrong? This is a tragedy we had to do there that you're capitalizing on it
He's being I she capitalizing bonds. I don't know
Why Kappa to life?
She says that do Do they laugh? Stop it.
She'll justify whatever so that she can do what she wants.
Why is it?
It's obvious.
Why are you also against me?
Can I just ask why you are taking it?
Because it could be useful.
What if it is useful?
In what way do you imagine?
What if someone is hurt?
What if someone is dying?
What if this hurts us
by taking what is not offered to us? This specifically is not offered to us.
They're dead. Zephyr, you killed them. I'm not going to beat a dead horse with you.
This is wrong and I'm disappointed in you again.
Asta looks sullen. We were told by Jenthil,
we needed to take the waters from the head of the beast.
Not from these creatures.
It could be seen as disrespectful,
not only to the creatures,
and not only to the jungle, but to the elves,
who desperately,
whose help we desperately need to return home.
And you would tell them I did this?
I don't have any intention of doing so.
You...
I'm just curious at what your motivations are.
What evidence do we have that this water from this creature helps us?
Asta unscrews the canteen and drinks it.
How do you feel?
You get high.
Jesus!
you get high. It's incredibly refreshing. You've drunk water from probably several springs about the forest outside of Seven Arches, but never once have you
felt the feeling that you feel right now, the way it flows through your body. You feel invigorated and alive.
And at one with she who walks through seasons.
How do you feel?
I feel... I feel really... good.
I feel really focused.
I feel really focused. I feel at home.
And I feel like I understand her.
And do I feel like they were right?
Who they?
They they. Who told me not to, like, do I feel like I'm taking something from she who walks with seasons by like taking the wall, you know
If you do feel that it is so fleeting because it's replaced by this other very very subtle feeling
that they Shouldn't be here
Interesting I feel like I know what to do what we should hurry we should get
the headwaters in and leave agreed that we agree bonds let's go let's proceed
I'll do a perception check as we watch to make sure there's not anything else
that's gonna jump jump out at us.
Sure. I'm going to do the same.
Twenty-two.
Twenty-two.
Looking for dangers. Twenty-two.
Twenty-two.
Just looking along the valley.
Yeah, I mean looking for any other creatures that are going to jump out.
Yeah, you look, you see, you don't see any other creatures. Maybe a bird will fly.
Divine Lance!
No!
It explodes into feathers. Like Randy Johnson's pitch.
Did you see that?
Straight out of the air and held the shit out of that bird.
82 mile an hour slash right in the noggin.
You really showed that sparrow.
As you approach on the map here, make sure you really zoom in so you see the beauty of foundry
Oh look at those headwaters. Moving headwaters. Oh yeah this gentle slight flowing of the water.
There's a ring of multicolored trees around their leaves flickering through their vibrant colors
surrounding this sort of bubbling pool that's fogged with a fragrant steam.
Just from time to time I see like these little jets of water bursting from the water's surface.
It is so beautiful, so serene.
It's like it makes me think of Princess Mononoke, like the sacred grove where they take Ashitaka
to heal.
Yeah.
It's really cool.
I believe you have the gourd.
Zephyr does. Zephyr has the gourd.
Zephyr has it.
He took it away from Asta.
Zephyr. Did I?
Or maybe you just, you told me not to have it.
Oh, okay.
So yeah, Zephyr takes out the gourd
and slowly approaches the water and fills it.
Okay, you dip down and Asta, you're there as well.
I'm walking away from Zephyr to far away
on the other side of the pool,
just kind of walking around the pool.
What are the rest of you doing?
Just following Asta. I'm going wherever Barnes is.
As I'm filling it, I'm like, my head's down,
but my eyes are like up at you
watching you walk around the pool.
Stop.
Look at me.
All right, so Zephyr reaches down as everyone else.
Everyone's following me.
Creeps around.
Stop following me.
Get away from me.
We're not following you.
We're here for the mission.
You see this?
These little jets of water springing from the bubbling surface.
It smells so good.
You bend down and dip the gourd into the water.
And just as it breaks the surface and you go to pull it up, there is an explosion of
boiling hot water in your face.
And we'll see you next week.
Of course there is.
How could I have not anticipated this?
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
The cake is dead.
