Starting point is 00:00:00 You are listening to the Glass Cannon Network, the premier source for role-playing game entertainment. Last week on the Glass Cannon Podcast. On the Jungle God's spine. Some of you see these turtle-like creatures with indentations on their head full of water. There's nothing we can do. We cannot reason with them. If you can spill, evaporate, or remove the water from their head, it's going to slow them down.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Brother Ramious. Reaching out this ghostly hand is going to attempt to use an ethereal grasp to grab the creature. Why did you do? I failed the flat shot. Oh no. Obviously. Oh, for your sake.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Just all single digits. And he becomes frightened three. Oh my God. That's your backlash? That's your mild backlash? And it is Zephyr's turn. Fail. Making me enfeebled one and clumsy one.
Starting point is 00:00:57 We might be overthinking all the cuteness and we can just kill them. I think we can just kill them. The blood and the glory will be ours. That's 32 points of damage. Holy. And it's dead. Yeah!
Starting point is 00:01:08 Muggles! Let's fingers to his temple and do a side burst. Four points of bludgeoning damage. And that's enough to kill that one. Yeah! Muggles! Now that's a turn. MVP!
Starting point is 00:01:19 That's a turn. Swing with the shield. Yeah! My! Yeah, he's dead. Yeah! You do see a little bit of residue left in the bowl of their head.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Asta unscrews the canteen and drinks it. You feel invigorated, and at one with she who walks through seasons. They shouldn't be here. We should hurry. We should get the headwaters and leave. Agreed. I'm re-agreeing.
Starting point is 00:01:41 As Zephyr takes out the gourd. You bend down and dip the gourd into the water There is an explosion of boiling hot water in your face the adventure continues Now You Hey everybody, welcome back to the Glass Cannon Podcast, first episode of September. Woo! It's the best time of year. Cannon podcast first episode of September Of year
Starting point is 00:02:51 Best time of year the first day of September I was embarrassing all around Would you stop with the negative energy it's September September. It is the best month of the year, besides November. No, it's better than November. How did November all of a sudden get second billion? Because it's my birthday month, and so I always love it. And I do love the leaves and stuff in November, but even then they're kind of sad, and most of them are falling at that point.
Starting point is 00:03:17 But September is like summer, but the kids are back in school, but the weather is still warm and nice, but it's not too hot, not too humid. I love September. September 1st kicks off the greatest four months of the year. I love it together as a mega month. And it just, I start getting heart palpitations
Starting point is 00:03:35 the minute pumpkin spice dropped, which as of today's recording is today. Pumpkin spice dropped at Starbucks. I mean, it's just- And tonight, while this airs, at the moment this is airing on YouTube YouTube is the opening game of the NFL. Oh It's just the best time of year, it's it's the best is anyone disagree I Don't agree but not for the reason but not for the reasons sure sure. What are your reasons?
Starting point is 00:04:01 I think there's a million reasons why flannel That autumn is the best season of the year. Yeah. Yeah. Wait, that's what you're agreeing to or disagreeing? No, I'm agreeing. I'm just, my joy in the fall is not football derived. Oh yes. What derived is it?
Starting point is 00:04:16 Is it leaves? Well my cooler temperatures. I also happen to really enjoy the October season for Halloween. Yeah. Yeah. Halloween's good. It's not September. It's October, because I love death.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Yeah. Yes. You're a big death fan. Love it. So cool. I do love the fall. It feels, and I also feel like maybe it's because I'm from the East Coast, but it always feels nostalgic.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Because the leaves and it's like the start of school, like you always, you just place it in your mind in a certain feeling. And for me, it's a good feeling. But yeah, like apple picking, pumpkin patching, all that. And I'm sure a lot of people don't associate that. So this year, for the first time ever, I don't know if you've done this,
Starting point is 00:04:54 how much outdoor gardening stuff do you do? Since you moved to the country? No. So I'm, I'd say I am. My wife and my son are really starting to experiment with this. And this year, we think we may have our own pumpkin patch. You're doing it?
Starting point is 00:05:07 We're doing it. My dad does. They're big already. I was going to say, you have to. Not the pumpkins, but the leaves are huge. You have to plant it already. It's sprawling out along the side of our house. And we have a couple little pumpkins.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Do animals mess with it? Like deer? Yes, yeah. They come by and they eat it. It sucks. Put the netting on? Yeah, well, we don't have netting. And so we've lost a few already. But we're going to get some netting. We and they eat it. Put the netting on or? Yeah, well, we don't have netting. And so we've lost a few already, but we're
Starting point is 00:05:26 going to get some netting. We're working on it. Well, if you're lucky, the great pumpkin will visit you on Halloween night, if your pumpkin patch is the most sincere. OK, good to know. You should tell your son that. Can the great pumpkin get through the netting?
Starting point is 00:05:39 Make him fearful of the pumpkins he's growing. The great pumpkin is a benevolent spirit. Unknown. They seem scared. The kids seem scared. He only visits the pumpkin patches that are most sincere. What is a sincere pumpkin patch? Just Charlie Brown lore.
Starting point is 00:05:55 That's what Linus says. Linus is like, he only visits the pumpkin patches, which are the most sincere. I just love the way Charles Schulz's characters talk. Do you remember Garfield Halloween? We're getting ahead of ourselves. Oh yeah. But it's great. I watch it on YouTube every year.
Starting point is 00:06:10 No. No, I don't remember. I love Garfield. Him and Odie go trick or treating. It's pretty scary. Yeah. They visit all the houses in their neighborhood and then Garfield's like, oh wait, there's one more house over there.
Starting point is 00:06:20 And it's like across the river. And so they steal a boat and they go across the river and it's just like abandoned house and they're cold. And so they go to warm themselves by the fire and then they turn around and there's like an old guy sitting in the chair and they're like, ah, that's the part. My kids won't watch it because of that one part. But if I can get them to there and pass that it's cold. And he tells a story about how these pirates long ago buried their treasure in this house. Then the pirates all died and only the cabin boy survived.
Starting point is 00:06:48 And I was that cabin boy. And on Halloween night, the spirits of the pirates come back to retrieve their treasure. And so he disappears. He steals the boat that Garfield and Odie came on. So the idea is that he was trapped on this island and then the ghosts come and try to get their treasure. They find Garfield and Odie. It's great. It's a classic. Never this. Yeah, and it's got you don't have to yeah
Starting point is 00:07:09 Yeah, just watch you through the whole thing. That's the whole thing But they also who did the music who's saying the the thing it was Lorenzo music Yes, Lorenzo music did the voice of Garfield, but I think was Lou Rawls did like all of the socks Was it Lou Rawls? I don't know who that is. Francis, was it Lou Rawls? No idea. I don't know, but that's awesome.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Francis' response, I don't know, but that's awesome. Hey, do you watch Halloween stuff? Like, do you watch Halloween movies and see enough to Halloween? No. No, so that's not the way. It's still a movie. So no Halloween scary movies?
Starting point is 00:07:41 No. How do you take in the- 22 minutes long, it's not a movie. How do I celebrate? Yeah, like how do you take in- 22 minutes long is not a movie. How do I celebrate? Yeah, like how do you take in this? Cause people do like 30 days of Halloween. You know, they watch like movies and I play scary video games. I mean, like I sit here and say that like-
Starting point is 00:07:52 A lot of people cut cocaine on a tombstone. Yeah. I mean, I sit here and say like, oh yeah, I love Halloween. But like, honestly, I like the idea of it. Once it gets close to Halloween, the idea of like doing a costume seems like very overwhelming. I like it for everyone else. I mostly just like fall and the weather
Starting point is 00:08:09 and how it's kind of like in regards to how seasons are, if seasons were like a whole day, fall is like the end of the day where we're about to get ready to go to bed. Wow, what a great metaphor. It's the best time of night where you can do whatever you want. Twilight, yeah. You stay up too late.
Starting point is 00:08:22 It's a cozy time. Yeah. So what is winter? You're already asleep. Yeah, winter's like night to 4 AM. I don't know. Midnight's like you're right asleep. It's like you should be sleeping. Why are you awake?
Starting point is 00:08:32 This is awful. You should be dead. That's right. Especially like February. It's just kind of like, what are we doing? Oh, see I like this. We go back to bed.
Starting point is 00:08:39 I like the spring. I think we have a preponderance of fall birthdays around the table though. Mm-hmm. Boom. Yeah. Boom. Everyone table though. Mm-hmm. Boom. Yeah. Everyone except Kate.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Everyone except Kate. Kate, you're not fall. You're technically summer also. Nope. September 4th. That's as fall as it gets after we've missed that summer. No, no, no. September is the beginning of fall.
Starting point is 00:08:56 September 22nd. Gross. Well, this year, August is the beginning of the Halloween season. I was born on Labor Day. Wait, so summer, summer. Stop it with a summer birthday. Fall, fall, fall. I was born on Labor Day, that counts. Wait, so summer, summer. No, stop it with a summer birthday. Fall, fall, fall. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Spring. Where is the first day of fall? Spring, me and Matt. First day of fall is September 1st. It is not. It's not, it's the fall. It is in the hearts and minds of everyone who believes in anything. It's the fall equinox.
Starting point is 00:09:17 It sounds like an aspirational. Day of fall. I never think, it's never September 22nd and I'm like beaten off in the backyard at a pile of leaves. September 1st is when I do that. Why are you doing that? Where did this come from?
Starting point is 00:09:29 I'm never like, oh, oh, oh, on September 21st. Yeah! Is Huber inspired by real life? Is that what marks fall for you? Am I the only one? You're the only one? Is this just a me thing? There isn't a single human being that's like
Starting point is 00:09:42 staying up till midnight on September 21st. You're like, I should all have quiet tats.'s like staying up till midnight on September 21st. Be like, I should all the quiet dance. Do people stay up till midnight for the Equinox? I'll tell you what, I will get behind you. I can't recommend anything you just said, except that there is no one that on like September 8th is like, man, loving this end of summer.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Right. Everybody is like, it's fall. It's fall. I went to a public school system that did not have air conditioning. And September, most of September is of summer. Everybody is like, it's fall. It's fall. I went to a public school system that did not have air conditioning. And September, most of September is definitely summer. No, I know it is, but nobody says it that way. They don't think about it that way.
Starting point is 00:10:13 It's the same for spring, though. Because Xavier's birthday is June 19th. And I'm like, summer birthday. And he's like, my birthday is in the spring. And I'm like, that doesn't make any sense. It's June. I mean, seasons are counterintuitive. June 20 is the cutoff.
Starting point is 00:10:29 June 20 is the cutoff. So he's like, spring, baby. And I'm like, it's not. The summer begins the day you get out of school, which is now like July 31. We should fucking save our school all year round. No, because I'm thinking college. You get out of college in like May.
Starting point is 00:10:44 So this is so irritating. Matthew, come on. Why are you looking at me? You're telling me on December 17th, when you are a week from Christmas, you're like, how about that fall weather? Right. He's got your math there.
Starting point is 00:10:58 December 17th. No, you're not looking at it. It's winter. It's Christmas season. I don't, I don't, except for the times when I'm casting spells, I don't particularly mark the equinox and I count. It's not like I'm staying up to like treasure
Starting point is 00:11:11 the last moment of fall. Neither do I, and that's why I'm saying, it's fall in September. It's fall. It's fall. And I'm saying, my experience with, in those schools, it's always gonna be summer. It's amazing what roles you choose not to follow.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Guys, interesting, I've just discovered there's something called meteorological seasons and they're different and they make sense. Where it says fall is September 1st to November 30th. So that's the meteorological season, which is different than the equinox seasons. What does meteorological mean? You know what? I don't-
Starting point is 00:11:42 The one that makes the most sense? Yeah, it's the one that people made up later because they're like, we're not doing the farm shit anymore. We're doing normal stuff. Yeah. Meteorological seasons versus astronomical. We also celebrate the harvest in November, which is bizarre, but that's another. That's when I harvest.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Astronomical seasons are based on the position of the earth relative to the sun, whereas meteorological seasons are based on the annual temperature cycle. Well, there it is. Push your glasses up and say that again. What we've learned here is that Matthew is more of an astronomical follower.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Atmospheric. He's more of a horoscope type of guy, which is the people that Skid hates. So Skid hates you. I know what I said. It's the same thing. Tell us. Astronomical.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Skid, are astronomy and astrology the same thing? No. That is a very astronomical response. Skid, what's the funny answer? That is an astronomically terrible question. Typical Virgo. Don't be silly, he's a Scorpio. We'll be back right after this break.
Starting point is 00:12:51 If you were born after 1970, there's a very good chance that your first razor was a multi-blade razor. I know mine was, and these have been the status quo now for like 50 years. Where has that gotten us exactly? Two-thirds of men still expect some irritation when they shave. There's virtually no information on how to prevent irritation, and we have billions of plastic razors filling landfills in the US alone each year. The razor blade model leads to high operating costs, and more and more people are opting to either stop shaving or explore more invasive hair removal
Starting point is 00:13:26 methods. And that is why Henson Shaving comes to the table and wants to change the shaving industry from the ground up. Not through gimmicks like subscriptions or moisturizing strips, but through groundbreaking research on the impact shaving has on your skin. Here's a dirty little secret about the razor industry. Even the cheapest dollar store razor will get you a smooth shave. The trick is in removing the hair without any negative outcomes to your skin.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Henson wants to change the paradigm away from getting a smooth shave to getting a skin friendly shave. And they do it successfully. I've been using this razor since January of 2024 and all this year I have not had any irritation. I haven't had a single nick, a single scrape that is not an exaggeration at all and with all of that it's even more affordable than what I was doing previously. The
Starting point is 00:14:21 Henson razor works with standard dual edged blades that cost less than ten cents each. Once you own a Henson razor it's only about three to five dollars a year to replace the blades. I love this razor I cannot recommend it highly enough. I really really think you should give it a shot. I got one from my dad he's loving it. It is time to say no to subscriptions and say yes to a razor, one razor that'll last you a lifetime. Visit hensonshaving.com slash GCP to pick the razor for you and use code GCP and you'll get two years worth of blades for free with your razor.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Just make sure to add them to your cart. That is 100 free blades when you head to h-e-n-s-o-n-s-h-a-v-i-n-g dot com slash g-c-p and use code g-c-p. This show is sponsored by BetterHelp. I try as much as is possible to try to keep learning things even though I'm an adult and not in school anymore. You obviously I went to school for various schools for some time, but no, I just I want to stay interested in the world, you know, and I'm trying to learn languages, which is slow going because my brain just isn't as plastic as it was when I was a kid. I mean, kids, they're always learning and growing, but as adults, sometimes we we can lose that curiosity and they're always new things to learn, right? You know, gardening and new language like I'm doing or maybe how to win a new game, perhaps or a new RPG that you might want to try out. And if you're feeling like you just aren't interested in that way anymore, therapy is
Starting point is 00:16:00 one way you can reconnect with that sense of wonder and your your back-to-school era can come at any age. You know I always say this, but it's true. I just think as a universal position, there are very few of those in the world, but I think in this case, we're all entitled to have the healthiest mental experience possible, and therapy obviously can help with that.
Starting point is 00:16:20 And if you're thinking of starting therapy, maybe give BetterHelp a try. It's entirely online, designed to be convenient, flexible, and suited to your schedule. You just fill out a brief questionnaire to get matched with a licensed therapist and you can switch therapists at any time for no additional charge. Rediscover your curiosity with month. That's betterhelp, H-E-L-P.com slash G-C-N. Oh, hey, welcome back. Wanna give a shout out to our fall sponsors.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Hey! I thought our sponsors were Evergreen. Oh. Nope, they just re-up for a second year, which starts on September 1st. Foundry Virtual Tabletop. Big 1. Foundry virtual tabletop. Big month for Foundry and the GCN right here in the studio. We're going to be playing Ember every single Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:17:12 In fact, the first episode aired yesterday. Hope you liked it. Just gets better after that first one. And then, of course, Norse Foundry, for all your random number generating needs, we should have some new dice going into next year. Oh. Going into next year.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Or for book two of Gatewalkers. Oh. When do you think that's coming? I don't know. Are we close? Do you think it's soon? I don't know. We did go all the way to Casterville.
Starting point is 00:17:41 New dice? You did travel to another planet. It does feel like, you know, once we kind of deal with the sickness and stuff for this immediate problem, book two would start, right? Like journey to another. Book two, when we go up to the crown of the world. Oh man.
Starting point is 00:17:57 We still have to see Dr. Riddleson though. I think when we get back to Castravel, it's gonna be a different time and then we're gonna be like, what? And then book one's gonna end. Wait, you mean Galarian? No, no, no. Oh, wait. Galarian. We get back to Galarian. It's gonna be like, whoa, it's gonna be like the 1920s. Backwards. What the hell happened? Extra, extra. Or like a different. Or like a model team. Or we go into the future and we suddenly play Starfinder. Oh, that would be sick.
Starting point is 00:18:27 It switches to Starfinder 2E. You gatewalked into Starfinder 2E. Stock market never better. Invest in America. Yeah, interesting. I think before the end of the year, I didn't think that at all. And then you said something, see where it's gonna go. I think before the end of the year, I didn't think that at all. And then you said something, I think it was off air. We were just BSing. Might have been around Gen Con just to be
Starting point is 00:18:52 like, are we gonna get into book two this year? And you said something along the lines of like, maybe. Maybe. You know, I just realized, sorry, I want to hear what you're gonna say, but we launched this show a year ago this week, I think. Oh my God. It's next week, but this is episode 50. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:11 This is episode 50. This is episode 50. And we took, oh, we're going to take two weeks off because we took, no, we took Thanksgiving off and we took Fourth of July. So this is technically the 52nd week. Wow. Yeah. So is it a meteorological anniversary?
Starting point is 00:19:26 I think you would call this an astrological anniversary. So obsessed with artificial milestones. We like anniversary. Yeah, September 14th is when it started, but this is the 52nd week. I think that's special. Are we gonna do something special? Yeah, well we all know what happens on episode 50.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Yeah, the first thing I thought when I realized we were coming in today for episode 50. What? Was that Zephyr is going to die. What? Yeah, the exploding, boiling water stuff. Somebody always dies in episode 50. I've got the catfall feet.
Starting point is 00:19:54 It's fine. That's the last person who had catfall feet also died in episode 50. That's actually true. Oh my god. Wait. Did she? Stop.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Is this the curse of Gormley? Say no more. Was that episode 50? Who's to say? Wait, was it actually episode 50? Which is episode 50? Yeah. I'm scared.
Starting point is 00:20:12 I'm scared too, honestly. I went from being elated and excited about our astronomical anniversary, and now I'm scared. I am scared as well. I looked at, you know, we just kind of moved forward. Remember, this is what we were on four or five combats today. Oh my god, you know what?
Starting point is 00:20:28 And I am completely drained of healing abilities. We're still, yeah. I totally know. So like, Asta drank a little bit of that water and feels like she's better than everyone. And maybe she is, and she should have been the one to scoop the water out. Maybe this pond doesn't like me.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Huh, perfect. Asta's entire lesson to teach you is working. Let her do whatever she wants. Never learn a lesson. No. Yeah, what is going on here? I think you're going to all be very surprised to see where it goes from here, but I'm going to need a reflex save, Zephyr. Jumping right in. Boiling jet of water. Hey, maybe that cat fall will come in handy if the jet fires you 50 feet
Starting point is 00:21:08 up into the air. I want to use this dice. Horse Foundry. Horse Foundry. I swear to God. Here we go. Here we go. 21. You take 25 points of fire damage.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Whoa. As the jet blasts you in the face with boiling hot water. Smells nice, smells like eucalyptus and plant oils, the whole area. But you guys, as you're walking around, looking at these little vapors floating atop, you see Zephyr go down, she does fill up the gourd, but then boom, is blasted in the face by this geyser 25 points of fire damage
Starting point is 00:21:47 That's like half your hit points. I imagine there's some screaming maybe some crying. Yeah. Yeah She definitely pulls the same thing that heiress did in the previous year's Boston episode When she got splashed in the face with acid. Oh yeah. She goes, Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!
Starting point is 00:22:09 I would imagine you would! I forgot about that. Boiling water. Third degree burns. I forgot about that. That was good. Ah! Ah!
Starting point is 00:22:16 Ah! She lost half her hit points there too, it was like 50 points of damage. Are we, are we like in combat or like this just, we were all just watching? Just watch this sort of hazard go off Reflex save to not drop the bowl. Oh, yeah. Sure. Let's do an extra safe. Why would you have it? He no no, he said you have no no she's she's right. Oh, you said I have no you said
Starting point is 00:22:35 Well, but I just got burned in the face. Do you hold on to this thing grab the edge of the bowl? I wasn't listening. You've been spending too much time around Joe. Yeah. My first thought was, I like it. I was gonna have you do it anyways. 24. Yeah, you hold on. Just catch it. As upset as Asta was, but she sees this happen, she's like, Zephyr!
Starting point is 00:22:59 We run around the side of the pool, at least Brother Amias does. Barnes are there. Begins to run around to Zephyr. Her skin's all like red and maybe peeling in some places, like on her arms. We pull her back away from the pool. Eyebrows gone.
Starting point is 00:23:13 You know what, that's kind of maybe trendy right now. Oh yeah, true. No eyebrows, this in right now? Bleached. Bleached eyebrows. Everybody bleaches their eyebrows. Just take like Clorox and dip it in a rag and. You should try it.
Starting point is 00:23:24 You should try it. You should try it. Thank you, Matthew. I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna look like a fire. Are you healing her?
Starting point is 00:23:34 Not yet, I don't think she's earned it. Let's see if... It's not my birthday anymore. Wait, wait, wait. So after multiple seconds passing, nothing else happens. No, we have the water. More bubbling and yet she-
Starting point is 00:23:47 We just step back away from the pool and we're fine. Yeah, she's holding the gourd and it is full. Okay, he looks around. Zephyr, you all right? No! No, ow. Speak to us. What do you want me to say?
Starting point is 00:24:02 Did you get it? I got the water, yes. Bonds, take the gourd from her. Take care of your skin. I have some salve here and some bandages. This will help. This should soothe. And he's going to do a medicine check to treat wounds on you.
Starting point is 00:24:21 I'm going to raise the DC here. And I get it, which is's great and so you will get 21 points back so almost back to full almost back to full and he might as well just do it again at the lower DC and I crit so you're fine awesome he's 14 or more on the second one have we completed our mission have the waters in the gourd? Yeah, I believe so. It's almost too easy. And if we get away from this pool as soon as possible,
Starting point is 00:24:50 we also have to contend with the idea of how to get down. All right. We've was there some way away from the tower. So we've been moving away from the tower this whole time. Yeah. But I mean, how much time has actually passed? Hours? Um, like, were we hiking through the back for less than two hours? from the tower this whole time. But I mean, how much time has actually passed? Hours?
Starting point is 00:25:07 Were we hiking through the back for hours? Less than two hours. Or is it we spent a considerable amount of time healing after the Kappa? Yeah, you probably spent more time healing. About 40 minutes healing. Than walking. 40 to 50 minutes. But it took you a while
Starting point is 00:25:16 until you came to that Kappa encounter. And then from the Kappa encounter to here, Kappa encounter sounds like Kappa to Kassa. Kappa to Kassa. Matthew Kappa encounter. Matthew Kappa encounter. It sounds like Kappa to Kappa. Matthew Kappa encounter. Matthew Kappa encounter. Matthew Kappa encounter.
Starting point is 00:25:29 From that to here was That's what they call me. Just as large as the map. So now you need to repel off of this thing. But there's a wall of ice surrounding us now? Yeah, there's a wall of ice. From the head, it's actually a little bit easier. The sort of glacial aspect of her is mostly along her back, but towards the head here, there's really just this ring of trees and then a sheer drop. But if you have hooks and rope, you could
Starting point is 00:25:55 probably just rappel down and it wouldn't be too hard. Yeah. Okay. Wouldn't be too hard. Brother Ramius shoulders his bag of books. Real. To rebel off the side of a jungle demigod. Got no athletics whatsoever. No acrobatics whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:26:15 This is scary. Well we can tie ropes to the trees. I mean there are tree, like big trees, We can tie a rope to the tree. Yeah Okay, how far down is it? Couple hundred feet so you would basically I think it's safe to say at the end of this You'll need to buy more rope because you're gonna have to leave rope Yeah attached to it because it's a moving thing were it not a velvet make make. So tie rope around a tree tie ropes around body and then like the strongest of you is the last to go something like that. Who is the strongest who has the biggest strength
Starting point is 00:26:54 bonus here is there any plus threes plus twos plus three oh no plus fours. Right. Mine's a plus four. Oh all right. So I'll see you're the strongest. And she also, oh, interesting. She also feels like she kind of belongs here. Yeah. So she says- Would you like to stay? We're having a good time. She says, you actually say that. Do you really say that?
Starting point is 00:27:20 Cause that's fucked up. Hey guys, pause, time out. Pause the game. You actually say that cause that's fucked up. You guys, time out. Pause the game. You actually say that because that's what I'm doing. You actually say that. Hey you guys, I don't want to play anymore. Asta says, Brother Remus, you should go first, then Buggles, then Zephyr, then Barnes. I will go last. Are you sure, Asta?
Starting point is 00:27:48 Alright. And he like looks in her eyes and he sees like the intensity of her glare. Okay, alright. Um, a hell of a attempt at it, I mean, it's extremely deadly. Tie the knot around Brother Ramius. So what are we going down, like the leg? Hey, going down, it's her face. The head, like you're going to be hanging for a while, swinging down, basically.
Starting point is 00:28:12 A rappel, like. So Sydney has to make the straight roll. You could move to the leg. To feed off of the leg. That'd be much easier. And Asa has to make the strength rolls to hold the rope as well. No, I'm tying the rope to the tree.
Starting point is 00:28:23 OK. Ever done one of those rock walls? No. You're hooked into a harness. A belay? And then you just have strength rolls to hold the rope. No, I'm tying the rope to the tree. Okay. Every day one of those rock walls, you're hooked into a harness. A belay? And then you just have to let go at the end. And the first time you do it, you're like, uh, uh, all right. Could we send someone down to belay you?
Starting point is 00:28:35 To belay someone like Brother Amius? The first person could do that. But keep in mind, she's moving, and with every step, she's crossing a significant portion of the jungle. Oh, they can't stand on it. That rope will kinda like. All right, so you can't belay. Yeah, but you can repel. You can significant portion of the jungle. Oh, they can't stand on it. That rope will kind of like... Alright, so you can't pull it.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Yeah. But you can repel. You can repel down the leg. That's a good idea. So kind of moving from her and... Yeah, so he can tie the rope, and yes, you would hold the rope. Now it would be ultimately be anchored, should he fall, but you ease him down, and then he... I think that that is way way less deadly like I think
Starting point is 00:29:07 Well tag team it yeah and bubbles apparently is just as strong as his barns is so I have a plus six strength. Yep wait When the when the cool look on I just decided Who's got the best survival? Not me. I don't think I do, no. What is it? My survival is plus 11. I'll roll for you tying the knot around yourself.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Oh my gosh. We had classes at the... Ugh. What's that knot called? It's called the... Wax-Saw-Knot. A wax-saw? Of course, a wax-saw-knot. It's called the wax on not Of course a wax on wax on wax on I remember that from IC fan
Starting point is 00:29:53 Not to be confused with the wax off now In this situation, no, that would be foolish it automatically releases Terrible not. All right, so you tie it I was looks looks good and then Asta and Barnes Begin lowering Lowering I'm also gonna show them the knot I'm tying Okay before I go down like showing them this is what you'll have to do for yourself Can I roll a survival see if the knots any good? What is your survival? What's zero? You have no idea. Looks good.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I look as well. Dude. Plus zero. No, you can't. You have to be trained to roll scales. It looks like a knot. Be like if I looked at a knot. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Looks good. All right, so Ramius begins rappelling down. And you just hear that creaking sound of the. I mean just hear that like creaking sound of the... I mean, this is so freaking epic. Like the image of this is... Seeing the view from this height as you're bouncing off the leg of this enormous god. There's a scene in the Discworld trilogy, the Discworld series, where they're like coming down, you know, the whole world is a flat disc riding atop a Atuan, the great cosmic sea turtle,
Starting point is 00:31:10 and they like ride down on a gondola off the edge of the world and they're like looking at Atuan, this gigantic turtle in his eye, like that's what I'm thinking of. Yeah, it's got Moana vibes too. Yeah, that's it. The end of Moana. Arceus goes,
Starting point is 00:31:29 Moana vibes too. Yeah. That's the end of Moana. And you safely make it to the ground. Oh, thank God. Awesome. Brother Ramious, untie, pull up the rope. Who's next? Buggles? I'm the lightest. I'll go. And he wants to get out of here really bad. Like he feels, when they were talking about how sacrilegious and blasphemous what Ossa did was, like he was just thinking, he's just like, what does that make what I did? What does that mean for me after like eating one of these creatures? So he's ashamed and terrified. So yeah, he definitely wants to get out of here as quickly as possible. Also, can I ask a logistical question? Sure Can brother Ramias at a dead sprint?
Starting point is 00:32:08 Like still even keep up with this creature as it's walking or are he's gonna be half a mile back in the jungle It's moving very slowly. Okay, but with each step it traverses a large part of the jungle. Yeah Yeah, so he's just like moving through like It's not like they're like the eye with was a branch and yeah just trying to keep up trying to stay with it all right well goes you all right he's running ahead just in case anybody falls who's got the best survival the tide the bugles not not trained not trained not trained nothing okay flat check maybe you guys do your Well, I showed them what to do. You showed them what to do. Is there an eight or something?
Starting point is 00:32:45 Can I roll the eight? Yeah. Okay. He factored it in. You got the eight. All right, so I hope this is right. They tie it around old Buggles. I'm holding the rope with my hands.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Cause you don't trust us. Yeah. Luckily he's very light. How heavy are you? I think I'm like 40 pounds. I was gonna say like 40 pounds. Yeah. So it's like, you know, really easy.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Yeah. It's like just lowering my son. The bucket. Yeah. Down there. And you're just lowered down the side of this creature and its leg is moving as you're coming down. You're trying to repel, but you don't even have like the leg strength to really push
Starting point is 00:33:21 yourself off. And at a certain point you look down at the rope and the rope's starting to come undone a little bit. Do you say or do anything? It's coming up, Don, the rope. Faster, faster. Faster, faster. You guys pull it down faster.
Starting point is 00:33:39 I can't hold the rope! I'm trying to hold the rope. About five, seven, five feet before you reach the ground, the rope unlocks and you just land on the ground. You take negligible damage, but you realize that was close. Oh my god. You look back and you think you see Ramius like a half a mile away. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Running through the jungle. He really should have gone third to last. Yeah, asthmatic priest. We looked at him and he's just taking a break and sitting smoking wavy. Who's next? It's not worth it. Zephyr, you next? Yeah, Zephyr's next. Okay, Zephyr, same thing.
Starting point is 00:34:19 Good old plus zero. With the aid, though. Okay, tie a rope around Zephyr. Start with a rope With the aid. Okay, tie a rope around Zephyr. You start lowering Zeph. About halfway down, it starts to come undone. Faster.
Starting point is 00:34:39 You go faster. Grab the rope. Can you grab the leg? Grab the rope. Or grab, or can you hold the, can you hold the, retie the knot? Can I, or just hold the? You try to grab onto the leg of the creature as it's moving, you're grabbing onto like a part
Starting point is 00:34:54 of the forest, maybe there's a big branch like coming out of her leg. Or if just holding onto the rope. Yeah, you can hold onto, well the ropes, yeah, holding onto the rope is good, yeah. What's your climb? which is athletics
Starting point is 00:35:09 Athletics not acrobatics is plus 10 plus 10. All right, so you hold on to the rope and It just completely comes undone and you're still a hundred feet from the ground. It's still about maybe a buck 20 And you're holding there. You're no longer tied on but you're strong there you're no longer tied on but you're strong you're no longer clumsy and they lower you as you're gripping this was ramius may not have turned out yeah as well you see Buggles but a quarter mile behind tiny little bald man, further back. Just a bunch of bugs. A bunch of bugs. Vlado, bring the books. Cigarette, I leave cigarettes in the dangling from his lips. Like Vlado deep ups after Lakers pranks. You have to pace yourself when you're jogging. You can't just like sprint the whole time.
Starting point is 00:35:56 Can't hear anything you're saying. God. Oh, gods. Are you next, Barnes? Yeah. Is this you and me left, right? Yeah. Because the last person's gonna have to straight up climb down? Yeah. Is this you and me left, right? Yeah. Because the last person's gonna have to
Starting point is 00:36:06 straight up climb down. Yeah, and she's got plus four. So, yeah, I'll tie. So now Asta's doing this by herself and you begin rappelling down. Same thing, the knot's shit. So what is your athletics? Plus 10.
Starting point is 00:36:20 Plus 10. It comes undone, you hold on. But now Asta, you're doing this by yourself, so you're trying to lower him. Gently. Gently lower him. We're gonna do another one. You say plus 10?
Starting point is 00:36:30 Yeah, could I also be like, I'm like, Asta! It could also depend on her strength. Just let the rope go! And I'll like wrap my hand around it. You know, like Temple of Doom style. Oh, you're gonna pop your wrist and shoulder out of it. Yeah, the whiplash. Okay. And I'll try to swing down. Find Tarzan the way down. Oh, using're gonna pop your wrist and shoulder out of it. Yeah, the whiplash. I'll try to swing down.
Starting point is 00:36:47 Find Tarzan the way down. Oh, using the momentum, that's a good idea. To get off and use the momentum. Okay, all right, so I'm gonna have you just do that, because I rolled a good secret athletics check for you to swing down, and you see the same row. Zephyr, Buggles, Framies. Out over the jungle floor.
Starting point is 00:37:04 Then I see a kind of soft, mossy area, and it's like, ah! Oh, that's so cool. I land in a roll, and come up standing. Sword out. And now Asta, you're left alone over there. And Asta's like, oh, okay. Okay, everyone's okay.
Starting point is 00:37:20 And yeah, she's gonna shittily tie a knot around. You start to tie the knot around you and you feel this presence. It seems to be the forest itself sort of pulling you to stay. You get this sense that with the dispatching of these kappa, the headwaters of this sacred being no longer have defenders. So she who walks through waters needs a new they who defend and you're you're going through
Starting point is 00:38:07 the motions you know you have to get off of this creature but you feel this hole of course you the creature of the forest would feel this but you having drunk from the headwaters of this Kappa you're I think, yeah, it's like she's going through them. She's tying the knot and as she's tying it, she's like walking towards the headwaters and she looks, she's looking at it as she's still like tying, re-tying the same knot, like she's barely even doing it. She's looking at this pool and and her reflection is all crazy, because it's like bubbling and stuff, you know, it's all disrupted.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Um, and she's gonna bend down and kneel beside it. And then she's gonna take out her canteen. And she's gonna fill it up with the water. Poof. Poof. Poof. fill it up with the water. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. You bend down and you fill your canteen with this water and the jets that are flying up just seem to happen all around you but none come out your face.
Starting point is 00:39:20 She's going to put the canteen back in her robe. And she's gonna think, like try to communicate in a way that feels proper to she who walks with water. And she's like touching the ground around her. She walks through seasons. Sorry, she walks through seasons. Touching the ground. Astrological or meteorological? She's going to astronomically talk to, and she's going to just think the words. I will tell them, and they will send someone.
Starting point is 00:39:58 But I can't stay. But I can't stay. But I can't stand. Tie the rope around you and begin rappelling down the moving leg of this creature. And you reach the forest floor. You let the rope go and watch as it continues like an AT-AT just moving through. And at that moment as the Asta hits the ground, the last of you to disembark. You can see Brother Ramius from a distance, some of you more close, it just sort of rumbles and moans and strides its way back into the jungle, eventually sinking into the trees and disappearing. And as it reunites with the forest you are all left with this distinct, inexplicable feeling
Starting point is 00:41:07 that she who walks understood what your goal was and approved. And eventually all that movement stops and you can't distinguish her from terrain anymore. Does Brother Ramey's eventually catch up to us three hours later we find his body 200 yards back died of exposure in the mud face down in the muck surrounded by buzzing flies no, Ramius eventually catches up and I think feels at peace with that feeling. It's a good feeling. There definitely was a bit of like, felt like we were stealing something sacred, maybe being sacrilegious in a way, even though they had asked us for this, but for good reason and it's neat that the creature could feel that. I mean, we did kill the three guardians.
Starting point is 00:42:09 I think Asta feels very sad, like in that moment of feeling like it was the right thing to do. You know, she kind of just like wipes her face and there's like a wet tear and she wonders. Everything has been so messed up since her moment and joining this crew and like it's been so chaotic and there's so much going on that she doesn't understand.
Starting point is 00:42:31 She's so like scared all the time, but has to be brave. And she just wonders like, should she have stayed? Should she have protected this thing that seems so in tune with nature and so right? And like there's no question about it. And she felt so sure. And now she feels so unsure again. No one in your group likes you.
Starting point is 00:42:51 Yeah. There's really no reason to stay. Yeah. It's true. And those are her bad thoughts. Those are like the thoughts flooding in. Like no one likes you. Why are you even with them?
Starting point is 00:43:04 You could have done something good. You could have been a good person Meanwhile Buggles Feasted on the corpse of this Guardian you must feel this Compelling to honor the hunt in some way But eventually you guys gather Having experienced this sort of surreal moment, if interplanetary
Starting point is 00:43:27 travel wasn't enough, walking atop a demigod certainly can check that off your bucket list. You make back up and you head back to the offering spire where you meet up with the elves there and they are in awe of the whole experience because I imagine none of them have ever seen this. They were just told what to do and so they- You've written shy-haloot. Yeah, for real. They just watch you in awe as you return and the whole journey back to the Oatian settlement in Los Kialua, they're just wide-eyed watching you, watching you every step.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Don't forget that Jentheal said that the sages felt as they consulted with the stars that you were destined to do all of this, that there is something happening here that is tied up in some semblance of fate. That is why they don't want to interfere anymore. You had to do this. And they are looking at you with this reverence as you make your way back. And when you arrive, the elves rush ahead, the ones that had the offering, and you see everyone come out of the huts looking
Starting point is 00:44:46 with bated breath, but as the elves communicate with the Oatians, they realize that you have it, and Gentheal comes out eventually and says, where is it? Yeah, I have it. You took it from her? She had to, she got burned. I did, I'm taking all the credit for that.
Starting point is 00:45:05 I took it. Whose character sheet is it on? Steam to the face, what? Whose character sheet is it on? Canonically, Zephyr handed it to Barnes when she got burned in the face. Hold on, stop all the action. I'll update the loot sheet.
Starting point is 00:45:18 Barnes has it. And then Jenthil takes it, so put it on Jenthil's sheet. Shit, I gotta add Jenthil. It's got a little stopper. You keep Gentheal's gear sheet, right? Yep. Perfect. She said she wanted to handle loot.
Starting point is 00:45:32 We're gonna be like her. Every creature in the universe. Handle loot, it's like giving a baby a car. I don't know what to do with it. So many buttons, so many things. All right, with me. And he brings you over to this hut, one of the huts, that has one of the huge telescopes coming out of it.
Starting point is 00:45:54 And enormous, enormous telescopes coming out of this very primitive hut. He brings you inside, and Aleli is laying on a straw bed within this hut. And she's like all she looks burnt at this point she's withered to the point where she looks charred and she's like wheezing really heavily like labored breathing she's all curled she's all curled she's all curled she's all curled she's all curled the way's all curled. She's all curled. The way is gone. The way is gone. She's nothing but curled.
Starting point is 00:46:28 She's all curled up and just like charred and wheezing. Her skin is completely gray and cracked. And Gentheo sets to work in this little makeshift alchemical laboratories adding, swapping, they are there adding up, swapping out the Azada tears and all this shit and then they unstop her the gourd and make a tincture and it glows. And they bring it over to a lily and just sort of pour it on her tongue and instantaneously her skin becomes vibrant. Again, the cracking gray refreshes like it was splashed with water.
Starting point is 00:47:13 Her shriveled skin swells with new vigor. The gray dust falls away to reveal raw but healthy flesh beneath. And a lily just like lurches forward and she looks around in shock at first and then she smiles. Hello everyone I hope I haven't kept all of you waiting too long And all of a sudden everyone is just like All the elves that are there some of the sages that were watching this go down everyone starts cheering What do you do? We level up? Completed save a little We'll be level up. Completed, save a level.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Did that make only one dose? One little dose, a little tiny tincture. I was gonna say if there's any more. She was like, oh, I'm so glad to be back and accidentally touches the shade where the key is. Yeah, give me a hug. Ah, you jump! You gotta go back to see who walks.
Starting point is 00:48:20 No, no! Not again. B bum bum bum bum bum Are you, are you, are you alright? everything. Even in my state, I could sense time moving very quickly. Also very slowly. It was very frightening, but I knew that you would save me, even though it was that key that cursed me. Zephyr tucks it like into her vest, so it's not like out in the open to accidentally brush against anyone. And can we share with her what we learned from Iscariot? Oh yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:15 I mean, I imagine this sort of devolves into multiple cutscenes. The townspeople, even some you haven't met, they're hugging you and just like embracing you two arms on your shoulders and like a Party starts to begin. They're bringing out food for a feast. This is a huge deal and There you're like visiting diplomats at this point because a lele was revered in the community and you've saved her life Word travels fast. They're shaking your hands kissing your cheek grabbing your crotch Word travels fast, they're shaking your hands, kissing your cheek, grabbing your crotch. Giving you flowers and shit.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Truly diplomatic. It's custom, that's a castravellian way. Yes, it's custom. It's so weird. That's why Hubert loves it. You did it! Let's go! Let's go!
Starting point is 00:49:56 Yes! You saved her! Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes! Ooh, I have a question. Yes. Where's Hubert? Don't ask, I don't have a question.
Starting point is 00:50:04 What is wrong's you? Nobody say anything nobody say anything. I thought this is a beautiful moment. I thought maybe he died He said grabbing crotches and that was the first thing I thought about was first you right? Oh, hello My friends see you. I see you've learned about the Lost your little. Oh, huh. So good to see you've learned about the Los Galo. Hello, huh? So good to see you back. Got some bad news. Bad news.
Starting point is 00:50:31 Oh no, what is it? What is the bad news? What is your bad news? Everyone's having fun, I don't wanna make it all about me. What's wrong, Gilbert? I'm sure if we can't find a cure, you'll rest easy knowing you were loved by many.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Yeah, well, love is sort of the problem. She left me. She left me. The plant? Yeah. They always say love is a candle that burns too quickly and mine burnt out. So I'm back on the market as it were. Oh, good thing there's a party tonight. You don't seem to be taking it too difficult. Well, you know, we had, it was hot and heavy there for a while.
Starting point is 00:51:08 And I have to admit she was getting to be a bit too much for old Hubert. A little too needy, wantin' it every so often. There's only so much of old Hubert Edge juice to go around, as it were. I have to know, what did you have in common? Well, we both liked nature. Obviously, yeah. And, uh, doing it. That was you. Yeah? Alright.
Starting point is 00:51:35 Those were the things we really connected on the most. Probably for the better. Doing it. And when you combine those things, doing it in nature, well then. It was a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, she She's moved on she's moved on and oh, I've got to go Talk to some of my new friends though, but word has it we might be on the move soon Get excited to go back to wherever it is you're from because I've been told that I can't stay here Which is all right with me. I've been missing you guys,
Starting point is 00:52:05 especially now that the old battle axe is no longer around my neck. I'll need to get back out there in the world and anyways, I'm gonna go get some drinks, but I'll talk to you soon. Ha ha! And he grabs Ramius's crotch. Go!
Starting point is 00:52:22 Go! See ya. That had to work. We should have a serious conversation. I thought he was from Galarian. I truly, truly don't think I can bring him to that planet. He could destroy the planet. He's from Nighthold, he's not from Galarian.
Starting point is 00:52:41 No, Barnes thought he was from Galarian. No, he's from another realm entirely, which I thought he would return to. It would be like unleashing an invasive species into environments. This is exactly what I was going to say. It would be incredibly irresponsible. Okay, I think I know what to do. Oh, really? On the count of three, let's all say it at once.
Starting point is 00:53:01 Okay. There we go. Two, three. I hate tired once. Okay. Oh, God. Here we go. One, two, three. I hate tired bits. Why is him a new girlfriend? You nerd. You nerd. No.
Starting point is 00:53:10 What? What? I think we should, I think we should get him fixed. I think we should just take him home, or send him home. His real- We can't send him back to Nighthold. Why not? Because it's really fucked up there. Well, it's where he's from.
Starting point is 00:53:25 I don't think he was really from from there. He was scared every day of his life and his whole family's gone. What if we bring him to Galarian? He brings Nighthold with him. Hubert won't bring Nighthold with him. Wait, how do you know that? Wait, Matthew has an idea of a far and system.
Starting point is 00:53:40 Go on. Hold on, I turn to Matthew. Matthew? All of a sudden Matthew's at this party. I mean, everybody's there. It's the, go on. Go on. Hold on, I turn to Matthew. Matthew? All of a sudden Matthew's at this party. I mean, everybody's there. It's the coppa. It's the coppa. The coppa's right there. He comes up, grabs Austin's crotch.
Starting point is 00:53:53 Woo! We could leave him at the Thinlands Farms. Woo! Woo! Woo! Yeah, maybe he'd be happy in the- Maybe he'd be happy in Thinlands Farms. I know, we should give him,
Starting point is 00:54:05 we should give him to that family with the children. Ooh. Stink it. What? He is a horrible creature. We were just talking about how he'd be a blight, but if he's like affecting young children and how they grow up. Leaving young children. I just thought- He could create he'd be a blight, but if he's like affecting young children and how they grow up
Starting point is 00:54:25 Even you know children. I just thought you could create an army of his blight I just thought he could be a pet there. There's sentient creature. I'll start is not a pet He's a villain As you're talking Some of the older sages like escorting a lele out of the hut. Ever since she woke up, she was laying in the hut, but you see her coming out in there and she's like, giving me universal gesture for I think I can walk. And she comes out and she sees you all discussing the fate of Hubert.
Starting point is 00:55:06 And she comes over and she says, Can we talk? Indeed. Of course. We are very eager to speak with you. Right. Listen. Yes?
Starting point is 00:55:19 If your research shows that only five of us can go back to the portal, we understand. Well, that's what we need to talk about. Right after this quick break. What's up, everybody? Troy LaValle here. It's official. The best time of year has begun. It's September.
Starting point is 00:55:41 It's fall. The air's a little cooler. Pumpkin spice back to school. And of course, the air's a little cooler, pumpkin spice, back to school, and of course the start of the NFL season. I am so excited to do this read because we talk about this all the time. Joe and I are obviously huge football fans, huge fantasy football fans, and huge Draft Kings fans. Well, Draft Kings has a brand new app and they are sponsoring this app.
Starting point is 00:56:03 The app is called Pick6. This is like a new way to play fantasy football and win cash with DraftKings. It's pretty simple. If you follow the NFL, you're going to pick players to have more or less of a certain stat like yards, touchdowns, catches or more. Say you're a Dolphins fan. You're like, you know what? Two is, I like Two is matchup this week.
Starting point is 00:56:23 I think he's going to get more than 300 yards. Or you might be like, you know what? I like 2 is match up this week. I think he's going to get more than 300 yards. Or you might be like, you know what, not a big Dolphins fan. I don't think 2 has got it this year. He's going to have less than 300 yards. And then you say, all right, so and so is going to have more than half a touchdown. I think Kelsey is going to get shut out. He's going to have less than half a touchdown. And so you just build these picks together.
Starting point is 00:56:41 And if you get your picks right you win cash. So please fans of the show, fans of Joe and I especially, download the new DraftKings Pick6 app now and use code GCP. That's code GCP for new customers to play five dollars and get $50 in Pick6 credits guaranteed plus one month of NFL plus premium on us. Offer expires 9-19. Only on DraftKings, pick six. Starting point is 00:57:46 slash terms. We're back and Alelly sort of pulls you over to these tree stumps that have been sort of ceremoniously arranged for a little chatting nook amongst this party. They're bringing out all these for a little chatting nook amongst this party. They're bringing out all these, you know, different kinds of food, very exotic foods, being offered different foods and drink. It's a real party. Maybe they need an excuse for a fest such as this. But a lilly says, in a moment, in a moment, and she brings you over and she says, obviously I haven't had much time to
Starting point is 00:58:27 assess everything and dig into the research needed to do this, but I will need to study this key of yours from a distance, of course. Perhaps you could bring it to my home and just lay it atop my table. For how long? As long as it takes. This could take several days. Oh, so that you can figure out how to get us home. Yes. Oh, okay. Yes. Sure. Having made some recent connection with your world, I already have some theories on how I think this will work. After I spend some time with
Starting point is 00:59:17 this key, I will know more and I will update you, yes. Oh, so you will need several days before we can even discuss returning to Galarian. We are in a hurry to return. I understand. You must know that this is still a theory. But I do believe, I do believe my initial idea may work. I just need time. What it is you are asking has never been done before in such a primitive manner. Um, but I have faith.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Um, you do look, if you don't mind me saying so, as if you could use some rest. Well, do you need help studying it? Say like an assistant if you can't touch it? Um, that would be most welcome. Yes, sir. Should I need such assistance, I will call upon you. Thank you. I'm a scholar myself. I might be able to assist you as well. Yes, have you studied astronomy? I'm a bit of a man of the world. I've studied a little bit of everything. I just take a I might be able to assist you as well. Yes, have you studied, um, astronomy? I, I'm a bit of a man of the world. I've studied a little bit of everything.
Starting point is 01:00:29 I just take a slight, a slight, you, minus two to my, all my knowledge checks that I'm not about creatures and costs. So strange. Like Doctor Who. Yeah. What a strange way of saying that. I couldn't think of the moment of them. The layman's turn. Well, then, your, your input would be valuable as well.
Starting point is 01:00:47 Perhaps we can learn from each other. But tonight we drink and we, as we say in our world, we make love with each other. Perf! Lots of answers. Yes. Yes? Hi.
Starting point is 01:01:02 What does, is that like a parallel-a-ling-long sort of mistranslation? Well, sometimes there is a word we will use if things get too out of hand. Parallel-a-Ling-Long is one of them. Right, right. But what you said, is that a direct translation? I will see you soon. Me?
Starting point is 01:01:19 Yes, ha. Drinks here. Have some drinks. What is it? It kind of looks like a coconut, but it might be a rock that's been hollowed out and it's got some sort of multicolored elixir, yes. Do not drink too much, but enjoy.
Starting point is 01:01:35 We celebrate. We Oatians do not have many. The Ravens just rollin' his joints. He sat down as soon as she was like, we're not going for days, he's like, fuck it. And he just sits down and rolls a joint. He's like, well, if we're going to party. The Oatians do not have much cause for celebration,
Starting point is 01:01:55 so we take any opportunity we can. I hope to see you in our collective bedroom. Oh. What was that? Okay. She goes off. I'm a little confused by the partying, but I think- Weeeee! Somewhere in the distance.
Starting point is 01:02:11 I'm a little confused by their partying lingo, but I think I wanna party with these people. I think, oh, Brother Raimi's already started. You wanna sip of my coconut? It's all milky and- Bonsu. Well, I thought we'd get home sooner, You want a sip of my coconut? It's all milky and... Bonzo. Mm. Tastes good. Well, I thought we'd get home sooner, but
Starting point is 01:02:31 we'll have to stay. Zephyr, take it easy. I'm not used to that. We'll have to stay. And I suppose the Hubert question will have to wait. Well. Oh! Who gave it to Boggots? Who gave it to Boggots? The Hubert question will have to wait. Well, who gave it to Boggles?
Starting point is 01:02:48 Who gave it to Boggles? Yes! Yeah, it's boring. He might as well be an honorary adult at this point. We are going to party, right? Okay. Take it back. Take it back. Oh, what is that?
Starting point is 01:03:00 You'll feel good in like a second. It's horrible. Just let it go. Take a sip of the coconut. Take a sip of the coconut. Boggles, I'm afraid you're going to... You'll feel good in like a second. It's horrible. Just let it go. Take a sip of the coconut. Boggles, I'm afraid you're going to... It's like twice the strength of absinthe. And he just starts vomiting.
Starting point is 01:03:16 Huts over in the corner. Hold his head back. I don't have any. You won't have to hold his ears back. It's okay, let it back. Hold his hood. Oh. It's OK, let it out. Oh. Let it out.
Starting point is 01:03:27 You'll be fine, Buggles. You'll be fine. We'll find a way for you to party. Some slight discomfort, but then it will pass. It's always possible. Take heart. It's always possible. Hubert might.
Starting point is 01:03:36 Curious to see the call Akan thinks about this. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors.
Starting point is 01:03:50 I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors.
Starting point is 01:03:57 I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors.
Starting point is 01:04:03 I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. I can hear colors. here we'll have sex with anyone else. So the spectrum is like orgy, not an orgy. And we're right in the middle. Right. Like maybe one half of the camp is pretty clear. If you go hang on that side of the camp, it's going to get creaky. Yeah. It's very, yeah. It's very open. Very open. Osta gets naked. Osta gets naked and just joins in.
Starting point is 01:04:19 Walks around with her fur full out. Yeah, she takes her robe off, neatly folds it up, puts her katana, like kind of bundles it like a little sack. Puts it takes her robe off, neatly folds it up, puts her katana, bundles it like a little sack, puts it in her room where she's staying, and then she just goes out and her fur is wild, and she's just having a drink and talking, just making friends. Okay. Making friends. Barnes, what's your knight like? Looking for another spore horn? I want to roll a charisma check. Oh!
Starting point is 01:04:42 I was going to see what happens. See what happens? Sorry, what's your charisma bonus? Yeah, you roll it for me, it's plus four. Plus four? You're getting a lot of attention from every sex in the room. Oh. Barnes drops his coat and wanders out into the party.
Starting point is 01:04:58 And we see your tattoos for the first time, maybe? Oh, yeah, there's one around. Oh, right? Wait, wait, wait, drops your coat like you get fully naked? No. Oh, you take your coat off. I think she just takes it off.
Starting point is 01:05:07 This is where you thought he was naked under that coat? I took it off. I said I got naked. Full nude. I said I got naked. You're like a flasher. Matthew made it seem like I take my coat off.
Starting point is 01:05:17 I was like, oh, maybe take everything off, I don't know. I would have said everything. No, the funny thing, I think, is the idea that you thought the whole time he's been in the jungle, he's completely new to it. Yeah. It must be chafing, like just not comfortable. All right, so you're kind of, you're fraternizing.
Starting point is 01:05:33 You're banging. You're taking it slow. We'll see what happens. Wait, can you roll for me if I had the zero, plus zero to charisma? Yeah, but you're naked, you get a bonus. Oh. Well, does she?
Starting point is 01:05:44 Yeah, you're not getting the same potential Barnes is getting don't mean to be rude I'm just trying to make friends. Yeah, you're very different from everybody else. You are a different species So am I what about yeah, it's true, but they're They're into it. Yeah, they're into it You're very debonair Zephyr what's your night look like? Um, well, she took her hand wraps off and put them away, and I think she lets her hair down from her braid. Aw.
Starting point is 01:06:10 And she's maybe like mingling around. She's not trying to do like a group thing. Trying to meet someone. Oh, baby. Oh, okay, all right, hey. Maybe it's a little awkward. It's not the cutest thing in the world, but Well having a little fun. Yeah, let me write it. Yeah the anyone who don't memory
Starting point is 01:06:33 Relationships right and she's a little drunk and high right confident Yeah between the flayleaf and this very potent cocktail all of you are Very quickly taken to another plane Ramious, what's your night like you're probably gonna handle yours a little bit better, but this, if you did have any of the drink, it is stronger than anything they had at the Abbey. Yeah, he won't have any of the drink. He'll pass on that. He's just smoking the flea leaf.
Starting point is 01:06:54 And I think we just cut over and see him kind of on the outskirts of the party, and he's passing some flea leaf back and forth with the elf that walked with them to the tower. Just that guy. And he's got a couple of books out and he's just like going over these prophecies of Grosthast that just fascinate him and in a way trying to educate this young elf as to the wealth of knowledge that he could have access to should he open his mind to the keeper and the understanding of the depth of knowledge that exists not only in his own world but man on other planets. Like whole other planets.
Starting point is 01:07:42 Hanging out with Charles Bucowsky. And then he stops and he's like, it's like Buddy the Elf and the guy in the mail room. Yes! And then he stops, and he's... And I think for some time you see him genuinely fascinated just setting the books aside and just interviewing this young elf about their culture and their society, what he grew up with, what he, you know, just learning and absorbing and absorbing as much as he can about
Starting point is 01:08:09 these people, you know, their culture, their beliefs, their belief systems, all that kind of stuff. The gathering of knowledge. Every once in a while maybe writes something down, but mostly he pays attention. Is this elf knowledgeable, educated in any way, an interesting conversation or is he dull? Is he not necessarily uneducated but not interested in anything about their culture? I'm curious how far this would go. You learn through your very limited ability to communicate with him that he is in training to become a sage. Part of that training involves having to do menial labor, having to carry the offering in this case.
Starting point is 01:09:01 The young of the tribe are tasked with those things in the hope of being able to be granted the great powers of the stars later in life. Wow. So he's a pretty cool guy. That's amazing. Yeah, he's just like taking it all in with this guy. Boggles, you had a pretty early exit to the night. Do you bounce back or is you just kind of pass out? No, I think he he stealths away and from the whole village and he sort of recedes into the surrounding jungle within hearing of the party what's going on. But he's a little paranoid and he's very frightened and he's still shaken by what happened to him atop Ji-Hu walks through seasons. And so he's just sort of like, just creeping along by himself through the forest, through the deep, through the the forest and he's trying to
Starting point is 01:10:10 have like he's muttering to himself like he's trying to talk to the gulakan To get some answers, but it won't respond. So he's just like by himself Just sort of afraid of like every shadow and like like reaching down deep and not touching anything So we just kind of see these different vignettes, Ramious talking with this young man, fascinated by him. He, of course, fascinated and also like idolizing you in a way. We see Barnes holding court with like men and women, just they're all laughing and they're funny. So you tell me you're two hundred and seventy years old. Hands on legs.
Starting point is 01:10:49 You must have seen some things. More drinks being passed. Zephyr looking around and eventually making eyes with a young, handsome elf. Who's been watching you ever since you entered the Oasian settlement. Now that you think of it. Then we see Asta with just music from the musical hair playing.
Starting point is 01:11:16 She's smoking flailie and it's like, it's not an orgy. No one's gonna like, fuh, but everyone is nude and they're all like braiding each other's hair and like massage, like it's just the most free. Buh-buh-buh, duh-duh-duh-duh. She's never seen that musical. I seen hair. I seen hair.
Starting point is 01:11:35 It's very hippie-dippy, and you're in sort of the nude part of the camp, and Buggles, you're just kind of- And scents and peppermints. Buh-buh-buh-buh. Buggles, you're just kind of... And sense of peppermints. Buggles, you're just kind of seeing all these things as you fade out. And then you open your eyes and you are in a dark room.
Starting point is 01:11:59 Even with your dark vision, you can't see anything anywhere. It's like you're just bathed in darkness. It's frightening, but then you hear a low murmur from somewhere. You don't know where it's coming from. It's muffled sound, maybe the sound of someone talking. You're so scared, but with no discernible direction of where to go, you start to move in the darkness toward this sound.
Starting point is 01:12:36 We hear your footfalls, like, doh. Doh. You walk towards that sound and as you move toward it you see a small glow in the distance. So you keep walking towards that glow and it gets larger and larger and the muffled sounds start to get louder and they're high pitched and almost sweet. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. And as you get closer to the glow, the muffled sound becomes clearer and you hear the voice of the lady of the house.
Starting point is 01:13:20 Oh, isn't he cute? We'll call him Buggles. And you become frozen in fear, reliving this moment, and the light from this glow washes over you, and it's as if you're watching this scene play out in front of you, but it's from behind, so you see her presumably holding you, but it's from behind, So you see her presumably holding you, but it's from behind. And you can't see yourself. Maybe you see like the ends of your feet,
Starting point is 01:13:51 but it's very freaky. It's like you're watching the scene replay. She's talking to you. And her voice continues. She's like, oh, but those ears, I have to do something about those ears. And then another figure steps into frame,
Starting point is 01:14:16 again with their back to you, his footfalls, his gait is so specific, no one else would be able to pick it out, but to you it's traumatizing. You immediately recognize it, and you're brought back to that terrifying moment. You see the lady of the house hand some sort of bundle that must be you to this person,
Starting point is 01:14:40 brings you over to a chopping block. You see something squirming in his hands under his strong grip as he takes the cleaver and just wham Wham down on the chopping block There's no screaming there's no noise, I don't know if there was when you first did it As you're standing there though, watching this, you start to feel hot liquid coming from the sides of your head. And you go to reach up and the scars that are normally there aren't there. There are fresh open wounds.
Starting point is 01:15:17 And you feel your hands filling with this hot liquid, this hot liquid that starts to fill your nose and your mouth. And then you're taken back to you feasting on the body of the coppa, having the blood of the coppa in your mouth and then back to here and you're just like the agony of all of it brings you to your knees and you look up and all that remains is that lone figure with his back to you. No chopping block, no cleaver, no lady of the house, no bundle that was you. And he turns towards you, his face now concealed by a hood, and then takes off the hood to reveal a monstrous mask of white fur with giant horns sticking out
Starting point is 01:16:08 of it and a cleaver appears in his hands and he goes to strike out at you and you wake up. There's still like distant murmuring of the partygoers but most of the party has died down. I think Ramius is probably nearby, watching you sleep, making sure you're safe. Not trying to kill you. Plotting your death. He's probably reading alone, still just smoking,
Starting point is 01:16:43 maybe not flailing at this point, but just smoking and enjoying reading. But he's been looking over every once in a while and you've made little murmurs. That's nothing. You drank too much. It's the flail leaf. Then you wake up. Oh, God. Huggies, what's wrong? He's spinning again like he had like with the blood in his mouth. It's like, just like reaches this little hand like all the way into his mouth, like trying
Starting point is 01:17:12 to scrape this non-existent blood off of his tongue. It's like, and does he, so when he sees this, because this is a memory that he had excised, so does he remember this when he sees it as having happened to him, or is this just some strange event? Well, I mean, I think that was part of the detachment. Like you watched this happen, and you felt the fear of it, but still, but it was so detached, it didn't feel like something that happened to you. It felt like it happened to someone else, and you didn't see yourself in it. happened to someone else and you didn't see yourself in it but you felt a similarity with the chop and and your ears and you felt the blood come around your face but there's no connect there you your fear came from like oh it's so horrible that this happened to
Starting point is 01:17:56 someone. Yeah. Bugles are you all right? Are you alright? I...I...sorry I...I had a horrible dream, Mother Rainius. I saw some...abe...attack...cut...I don't understand. Blood in my mouth and this... What's this? Oh sorry, bugles, bugles. ...reacher...mask, white fur.
Starting point is 01:18:24 Yes. Start again again from the beginning. And he grabs one of his books. Exactly what happened from the start. I describe the entire scene. He starts writing it out, while it's fresh in your mind. And I linger on the image of this white masked figure at the end. This is nothing I've ever seen before.
Starting point is 01:18:45 No. A mask of white fur, horns. It was coming for me. I just felt... I felt real. It was not like a dream, but a dream. I know the feeling. I saw the same vision, the same mask. It did. I saw the same vision, the same mask. It was during a moment of terrible, of a terrible memory I had. It was as if I relived it and the masked... thing was there. It was with me. It was watching.
Starting point is 01:19:21 You said it tried to attack you. No, no, not me. But then it occurs to him. Perhaps this was the memory. Memory I asked them to take out. Perhaps- You did not recognize it? No, no.
Starting point is 01:19:40 What was happening? Oh, interesting. No. He writes that down as well. It was not familiar, but it felt like it tasted the blood. So vivid, like a memory, but not. Zephyr experienced the same vision. Not all of the details, but the masked figure.
Starting point is 01:20:04 It is someone or something. It knows of us, perhaps as Gatewalkers. You are not alone in this, Buckles. We are all haunted by the same thing. What is it? We don't know, but what we do know, and it looks like side to side, is that when it visits us, it seems to empower us in a strange way. You may not feel it now, but it brought me power. Power that frightened me yesterday when I used it. Power that frightened Zephyr when she used it. Power that frightens Zephyr. When she used it, it's hard to explain.
Starting point is 01:20:47 But you may have been given a gift." And the thought of that is also terrifying. It's kept... it's kept unwanted and asked for. Is this... is this strange? Do I feel any different, like, otherwise? What is your deviant ability? It is the... the blasting beam, the wrath, whatever the... I have the blasting beams, which I don't use because they're redundant with my regular abilities. And where do they come out of your eyes?
Starting point is 01:21:26 My eyes, yeah. Yeah. As Ramia starts to talk to you and you start to think, you do feel this like pressure around your orbital bone. Start to like, like something is like you're going through a growth spurt in your face. There's a pain behind the eye. And he's scared because he knows about what these beams can do.
Starting point is 01:21:52 So he scrambles for a door, a window, and just squeezing his eyes shut like he's Cyclops. He just runs through the window and opens his eyes wide up towards the sky. He steps up to the sky seeing the same stars you would see when you looked up from the shores of your homeland. There is something growing within you. And effectively, when you wake up tomorrow, you will have the awakened power feat just as Zephyr and
Starting point is 01:22:26 Ramius have which allows your deviant ability to Grow in the way that you choose because it's I think there's a couple different ways you can take it, right? Usually you get two options at two options. Oh, okay. Yeah Listed in the deviant ability. It's like awakened power one. I power two. What is yours again, wrath? Dreams of vengeance. Dreams of vengeance. Ah. That's awesome. Blasting beams.
Starting point is 01:22:51 Oh, there it is. Found it. All right, so you get two awakenings. The first one, your beams blast through targets. Instead of making an attack roll to damage a single creature within 30 feet, you can use blasting beams as a two action activity to damage all creatures in a 60 foot line.
Starting point is 01:23:07 Whoa. Oh right, okay. And then the other one. That's cool. You choose to launch. That's not redundant. No. You choose to launch a smaller, quicker beams from your eyes instead.
Starting point is 01:23:17 These deal D4s instead of D6s, but the attack has the agile trait. So you don't need a free hand to do it. But your eyes must be uncovered. And then like, like if you awaken again you can take the other one okay yeah you can take the awakened power feed malte I think I would take the line attack yeah because the other one you kind of it doesn't really matter to you I would I wouldn't use that as a psychic if you were a psychic 60-foot line is pretty cool yeah yeah yeah I mean it's only it's only 1d6 for
Starting point is 01:23:46 every two levels you have but but still any any AOE target is nice yeah yeah and it would cut through any concealment right or like even if it was single target you would ignore concealment something that is fun technically as written I have the same deviant ability, but it's, is you have to have a free hand. It only comes from your hand unless you take the one with the quicker beams and then it comes from the eyes. Oh, that's cool.
Starting point is 01:24:13 But you get to choose which one. Yeah. Which one of those awakenings, yeah. Yeah. So, say eventually you, having been traumatized by this strange memory that feels like it belongs to someone else. You go to sleep, Ramious, you go to sleep. Yeah. Everyone eventually finds sleep. And after a time after a time doing what you'd like, feel free to email in your fan.
Starting point is 01:24:45 Please don't. That is your fan art. Yeah, with art. Yeah, fan art or nothing. Yeah. I'm terrified. It does take, well, let me put it this way, several days pass. In that time, you can obviously rest, recover, remove any long-standing problems you may or may not have, interact with all your new friends that you've made here.
Starting point is 01:25:18 The Oatian hosts are just as eager to learn from you and share their traditions as imagine most of you are to learn about them and they want to talk about their great astronomical secrets that they know. And from a mechanical standpoint, over the time that you spend while a lele is trying to figure out how to get you home, it unlocks the ability for you to take a new archetype, if you want. And the time that you spend amongst them, you could retrain into this automatically from whatever you're, if you have an archetype.
Starting point is 01:25:55 It's called Oasian Sky Sage. Whoa, cool. Yeah. So it should be in there. The way they, this is obviously legacy content as of right now, but the tradition of oasian sky, oasia sky sages stems from a small sect of dedicated star gazers on Castor Vell. To better study the celestial mantle, these eccentric astronomers broke away from their sovereign kin and migrated to the wild continent of Oogalum, where the night skies
Starting point is 01:26:22 were clear of light pollution. Though reclusive, o oasis sky sages have been known to pass on their esoteric knowledge and unique worldview to similar minded adventurers. Such adventuring sky sages search for secrets and omens in the stars and can even call down stars light to aid them in battle. So it really unlocks like new dedications. The oasis sky sage dedication, the basic sky sage divination, stargazer's eyes, a bunch of feats that you could only unlock should you take this archetype. There's some fun stuff there.
Starting point is 01:26:56 So, check it out. See if it's something you're interested in. It's certainly not. Wait. So, if you have not taken a dedication. Yeah, you could just choose it. You can just take it for free right now? You can retrain into the Oasis SkySage archetype.
Starting point is 01:27:09 You would have to retrain a feat, like your second level feat. I thought you could just take an archetype as an additional thing, right? I don't really understand archetypes. Neither do I. I thought archetypes were dedica- The Oasis SkySage dedication is considered a feat.
Starting point is 01:27:25 What level? Two. Feet two. Yeah. So you could retrain your feet too. OK. If you're playing with free archetype, then you would have a free archetype.
Starting point is 01:27:34 You wouldn't have to spend a fee on it. Yes. Yes. Class feat you'd have to retrain? No, you're, yeah, yes. I think you should give it to us as a free archetype. Yeah. I do too.
Starting point is 01:27:47 It just makes more sense. It'd be way more fun. I wouldn't lose knowledge by talking to these people. I wouldn't lose a feat, right? Replace it. You know, I'll think about it. I definitely don't like free archetype, but in this case, it just gives you the ability to then choose new feats.
Starting point is 01:28:03 It doesn't automatically give you those feats. I'll think about it. It's like talking to them. Hold on. Could we roll for it? Like roll a knowledge skill to see if we learn it? Gameify. I am too.
Starting point is 01:28:16 No, but you're trying to pay for it a little bit. He wasn't going to give it to you. You don't have to gameify everything. As I look at it here, you can either become, this is what you're going to get for free if I decide to do it. You become trained in astronomy lore As I look at it here, you can either become... This is what you're going to get for free if I decide to do it. You become trained in astronomy lore or an expert in occultism. That's cool.
Starting point is 01:28:32 Those are very cool. Neither of those are game breaking. Although expert in occultism will allow you a better chance to take out hazards that require certain things. I've already got that with my esoteric lore. that require certain things. But, you learn to cast spontaneous spells and gain the cast of spell activity. That's pretty juicetastic. With two common cantrips of your choice.
Starting point is 01:28:53 You gain a spell repertoire with two common cantrips of your choice. These are cantrips, but cantrips scale up. And cantrips are great in Tully. These cantrips can be from any spell tradition, but they must be divination spells You cast these spells as occult spells as you draw on the stars and night sky You're trained in occult spell attack rolls and spell DC's if you have a friend a hand free And you've gazed at the night sky in the last 24 hours
Starting point is 01:29:21 You can usually replace material components with somatic components. So you don't need to use a spell component pouch. Not something that really comes into play for the way we play. Your key spell casting ability for these spells is intelligence. So that's another thing. Think about it. If you're not intelligence specced, it's not going to be super for DC based stuff. Special, you can't select another dedication feat until you have gained two other feats
Starting point is 01:29:44 from the oasis sky stage archetype So should you choose to choose another dedication down the line? You can't do so unless you choose to a standard dedication Yeah, I say I say think on it because I feel like it's not game-breaking and it gives us the choice to then choose feats in the future It would make you It would really benefit you the bet the most I think with your where your intelligence spec But yeah, I don't right now. I didn't seem game-breaking to me. I'm not kind of cool your charisma. Yeah. No, I'm no strength
Starting point is 01:30:11 I'm strength I don't have to be anything else for the spells But I could then sort of build the future of my character to be intelligence to raise my DCS and stuff because right now my intelligence Is one it's not I didn't build her to be intelligent. Feel like I'm playing her pretty true to, pretty true to the bill. You're so good at that. What are divination cantrips off?
Starting point is 01:30:35 Are there any off the top of your head? Can't think of any. No, because divination I think is pre-Remaster. So whatever they renamed that school of magic to or whatever. Divination is basically any cantrip that's going to see something, hear something from far away. Augury. Yeah, that's not a cantrip, I don't believe. No, definitely not. Yeah. I'm not sure which are the
Starting point is 01:30:58 divination cantrips, but generally speaking, I generally find them to be more interesting for enemies to use on PCs than for PCs to use, divination spells. Until you get to higher level ones where it's like arcane eye and stuff like that, those are awesome. But a trap that you can set and watch a single place for like a day for who passes through. Like they're cool, but PCs almost never get the opportunity to use it. The cantrips are like time sense. You gain a perfect sense of time. Yeah, about 11.
Starting point is 01:31:35 You know exactly what time it is. Down to the second. 1104. Cool. 1104. Interesting. Do you have low light vision, Ramius? Now I do because I got it from Zephyr. That's cool. Ah, that So cool. 1104. Interesting. Do you have low light vision, Ramius? Now I do because I got it from Zephyr.
Starting point is 01:31:47 Ah, that's cool. I forgot about that. That's right. With the feet of Stargazer's eyes, your low light vision turns into dark vision. Oh, that's cool. It upgrades it. Yeah, I mean, there's some cool feats. There's a couple of things that are reactions.
Starting point is 01:32:01 One is called Scholar's Hunch. Scholarly debates have taught you to think on your feet, reroll the fail check and use a new result. If you fail a lore or cultist. Oh wow. So there's some cool stuff here. To check it out, see if it interests you and then I'll certainly consider it.
Starting point is 01:32:17 I mean, it's gonna be for the people who don't choose to take it. I guess if I give it a free, you would all just take it. Yeah. Yeah, but who knows if we would choose the feats. We might take it and then end up not getting it. The opportunity to do it.
Starting point is 01:32:29 Yeah, but I mean, I would love to take it just to get astronomy lore. Yeah. I think it makes sense. Just from a story perspective. Yeah. Like we're talking to these elves in the city for a while, and I think it makes sense. Yeah, we're like one of what can't be very many living people who have traveled to another planet. It feels like raising our base knowledge
Starting point is 01:32:46 is not game breaking. It's like we spent time with them for a longer period of time. Or you can all have it. Yay! Talk me into it, because you're all excited about it. Why should I say no?
Starting point is 01:32:55 And I think that I'm like, I've literally been spending these days talking to these people and writing down all of their stuff because he wants to bring this knowledge back to Calerian. He's also very much Barnes' thing. He's an anthropologist. He's there. He's like, listen to the culture. And when one of you inevitably dies, if you ever have downtime, you could teach the new player this information as well because that's part of what Oatians do. They share their
Starting point is 01:33:16 culture and knowledge. So if you take on this responsibility, respect it. Yeah. Okay. That's so cool. All right. Cool. Great. I'd like in that moment when we're learning and everything over those few days, I think Asta needs to talk to Genthiel as well. And yes. Oh, hello.
Starting point is 01:33:33 Yes, it's nice to see you with clothes on. Wow. Thank you. I'll take that as a compliment, Genthiel. I may help you. I wanted to talk to you about she who walks through seasons. Ah, yes.
Starting point is 01:33:47 You have experienced things that many of my people have only dreamed of. The memory cache, this goddess of the forest, is a special thing. The sages, they were right about you. Thank you. She does need help, though. She is lacking protection.
Starting point is 01:34:14 How so? The guardians who were watching over her, uh, headwater? We had to... I understand. And I felt her. I felt her talk to me. She wanted me to stay. She wanted help. You communed with She Who Walks?
Starting point is 01:34:35 Yes, I drank a little bit of the headwater. Her headwater? No, the Protector's headwater. What were these protectors? Appas. Ah, yes. No, the Protector's Headwater. What were these protectors? Apus. Ah, yes. They no doubt filled their headballs with her headwaters. Oh. They were tied to her, as now you are, by drinking of that water.
Starting point is 01:35:01 As is Alele, in a way, as well. She's very important. Yes, I know, you know, but she needs someone to help her. Thank you for sharing this with me and do not feel responsible not feel responsible for what you did. Those Kappas were just doing what they believed they were supposed to do. I understood after I drank it. Now it is our duty to make sure that we honor them by finding new guardians. I will talk to sages, see what we can do. Another thing...
Starting point is 01:35:49 Oh, there's more? Yes. I'm just going to get some lunch. Do you think... What are you having for lunch? I'll walk with you. Where are you going? That way? Oh, kind of. I have a reservation. I'll walk with you. I was going there too. I have a reservation.
Starting point is 01:36:04 For one. Kind of I'll walk with you. I was going there too. I'm for one good could you Possibly produce more of that antidote the cure for your curse Yes, yes we could As you can see it only took but a drop to fix her. This is something you would want to take back to your world, assuming Alele can find a way. Yes.
Starting point is 01:36:33 Yes. I will make as much as I can out of the headwater that you returned. Do you need more? I mean, more would be good, but the process of recalling she who walks, especially now that she is undefended, what are you reaching into your purse for? I took more. You murdered the Guardians drank from their head water and then stole
Starting point is 01:37:14 From she walks more than what you were supposed to take What is wrong with you We have been asking sorry Sorry, his brother, Amias, isn't there. What did we say? Hannah puts it in his Joe appears. We're asking the same question. Yeah, he just like leans up to Joe O'Brien. She's like leans out to his ear.
Starting point is 01:37:39 That's where I can feel it. Yeah, he's wearing a birdie. He's just like, go birds. And disappears in the distance. Go birds. What? That was his divination card. Cast Joe. Summon O'Brien.
Starting point is 01:37:56 Summon O'Brien. I'm gonna build a summoner, my idol on this is gonna be Joe. Go birds. Vanishes into the past. You are... The cupboards... Vanishes. You are... If you don't mind me saying so, troubled. I sense this energy from you since you came to our camp. Your group. They feel it as well.
Starting point is 01:38:28 I have... um... wants, like anyone. Needs, like anyone. And I think I might act on mine more than people admit to themselves that they would like to act on theirs. You take what you want. Yes. Because if you don't, it will be taken from you. He stops his walk to the restaurant.
Starting point is 01:39:00 You're gonna miss your reservation. It's alright. They know me. They know me there. They know me there. That makes sense. No, that makes sense. We're right outside. What, may I ask,
Starting point is 01:39:29 was taken from you? Everything. Find the answer to that question. Perhaps it will solve your problem. Thank you. Goodbye. I'm not hungry anymore, so I'm gonna go that way. It's fine. Jim!
Starting point is 01:40:00 Ha ha ha ha! You spend some time here. You see scenes of you, Barnes and Zephyr spending time with L.E.L.I. She's studying the shade with her key, trying to commune with it, not touching it. Maybe asking you to move it. Barnes, you're writing things down. Zephyr, you're writing things down. Sefer, you're just watching. And eventually, after about nine days that you've spent here on Castroville, you see Lily come towards you, her eyes gleaming green. She says, I think I have figured it out.
Starting point is 01:40:45 I believe I know how to get you home. And we'll see you next week. Oh my god, it's over already? I'm ready to play more, right? I'm shopping for spells! This is gonna be awesome. Do you guys think next game we're gonna level up? No, we won't.
