This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Barry Connick Jr.
The heroes do battle with an old friend.
Zubity-doo, roll for initiative.
Zubity-ba-ba-ba-doo-doo.
But there's a stranger in the vanguard.
Rapid bear running at you.
Yep, he just sees a bear coming at him.
Come on.
Troy, I don't understand what you think.
He thought he killed Ben Vereen
And then in the attempts to kill
Barry Connick Jr. he was like
This is not enough, I already killed Ben Vereen
I know, I'll make them
Kill Barry Connick Jr.
And both sides have grown deadlier
Since last they met
Oh my god, this is amazing
And Barry's new master is ready to strike.
Towards the back is a creature.
In his hands is a giant scythe.
Oh, no.
The adventure continues.
Look at Joe's face!
Oh, no.
Now. know.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to another episode of the Glass Cannon Podcast.
It's your boy, Grant Berger, a.k.a. Orfos Norcom.
Oh wait, he's dead.
Baron Ashpeak it is.
We had yet another Glass Cannon Podcast meetup in Hawaii, and I hope everyone had a great time. And for the rest of you who are also inclined to living on the West Coast, we have another GCP meetup in Los Angeles happening August 17th.
Check out our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts for more info. I'm super stoked that
Gen Con is just around the corner, guys. Indianapolis, here we come. I'm also excited
and scared to be running a Pathfinder Society scenario for a lucky group of players.
Joe, Troy, Skid, and I are all running the same adventure for four different groups.
I can't wait to exchange notes at the bar afterwards.
We're going to have a great time.
And just a reminder for our $5 and up Patreon subscribers, the first episode of Disorganized Play is up on our Patreon page. I'm excited for
all of you to see the continuing adventures of Tishpak Zababa Abzu Shamash. Without further ado,
here's episode 114, Barely Legal. After making a special guest appearance in episode 100,
a special guest appearance in episode 100.
It's been since episode 72 that we've really got to experience
the beauty, the joy,
and the dulcet singing voice
of everyone's favorite bear companion,
Mr. Barry Connick Jr.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Barry Connick Jr. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Barry Connick Jr.
I'm so happy!
Oh, wow.
Not for long.
I know, I know.
Happy and so sad.
We just had a light conversation about,
is there any possible way that Nestor wouldn't straight up murder this bear?
In one round, many shot, split out.
And the end
of that conversation was probably
not, he's definitely going to kill him.
Yeah, I mean... So you finally
succeeded, Troy. If he ever saw
Barry, it would have
been for the brief time
that you had him at your jail
cell. I tried to pitch
that to Skid. Yeah, and it was like,
oh, five minutes, three months ago.
Yeah, I would definitely remember that bear.
That bear looks pretty familiar.
And then we tried to convince Skid
that he would have studied Target,
and Skid's response was,
animals aren't really Nestor's thing.
And it isn't.
Mechanically, it's built into my build.
And we didn't do this in episode 100.
We didn't level Barry up, whereas we did level Lork up.
But between last week and this week, Joe did level him up.
And now he's no longer a small creature.
He is a medium-sized creature.
Right.
We never actually discussed that Lork's seventh-level feat was Boon Companion,
as recommended by listeners.
I didn't know about this feat until some of them wrote in and mentioned it.
Several.
Yeah, I looked it up and it looked perfect.
And then I knew about it and was planning on it before Lork was 7th level.
And we kept getting emails that were like, just do it!
And I was like, I'm going to get to it, I'm going to get to it.
Yeah, that didn't happen.
So you finally got what you wanted, Troy.
You can finally kill Barry Connick Jr.
Who's going to make us do it?
I'm not going to.
That's how sick he is.
He's out of all.
Sick, twisted.
I ain't doing nothing.
What is going on?
He is emaciated.
He looks like he's been abused.
Missing chunks of fur from his
slender frame. What happened between Shinemon's
fortune and here? The last time we saw him
in the game universe was at the big holdup.
And you, Lork, said, Barry, go! Get out of here! And Barry
ran off somewhere.
But now he's here.
And there's other creatures as well in this maze of an ancient slag giant village. He misses Lork so much, he clearly can't bear it anymore.
See yourself out.
See yourself out.
You're Ursine for trouble, man.
Oh, no.
I think it's like the Simpsons episode
where Santa's little helper gets taken in by Mr. Burns
and gets brainwashed into being one of his guard dogs.
That's what happens.
And he rushes at Bart and eventually jumps and licks on him.
So that's what's going to happen now?
We'll see.
Neither Lorik nor Bart Simpson are here.
That's the problem.
Now, Della actually has probably
known Barry the longest.
Because he was just kind of
roving around.
Oh, yeah.
Because you actually knew him before.
You're such a Barry hipster.
You knew him before you even met Lorik.
I knew him before he was a companion.
It's true.
You were locked in that tree
and like,
look at that bear.
Barry just kind of
walked up,
sniffed,
sidled off.
Peed.
Peed on his foot.
Peed on your hair.
That's why it's blue.
Right.
Right.
He has that,
what's that,
agromegaly or whatever
that disease is?
Did you blue pee?
George III had it.
What?
What's happening?
George III.
That's why I went crazy.
Didn't he walk around with a guy carrying a urinal with him all the time so he could pee anywhere on the grounds?
That I don't know.
I think he did.
Right in.
Call in everybody.
I don't know everything about historical maturation.
Right in.
Call in everybody.
I don't know everything about historical maturation.
What I know is this bear does not know any of you and is rushing straight at Nestor Coyne.
In the distance, there are sounds of other giants.
What did they say?
What did Nestor hear?
I don't care if it looks like junk.
Urathash wants it.
Again, that name.
Nestor hears. Whatever's here. Bones. Urthash wants it. Again, that name. Mr. Hears.
Whatever's here. Bones. Scrap metal. Anything.
Zubity-doo. Roll for an
initiative.
Oh, yeah.
Doobity-doo.
Doobity-doo.
Alright.
Weren't you taking Umlo?
Someone else is going to take Umlo.
Who wants to be Umlo this week?
I can be Umlo.
All right.
Joe's Umlo.
I'm Umlo.
Here's the official Umlo sheet.
The pass-around sheet.
This is what I'm going to do with Barry, Joe.
You have Barry's sheet, yes?
I do, yes.
Okay.
I am going to control Barry's actions, and you're going to roll Barry's hits.
That's so cruel.
Okay.
So I'll tell you what Barry's hit is.
Well, at least we know Barry won't hurt anybody.
That's true.
Except himself.
All right, Barron, what'd you get?
28. Jesus, you'd you get? 28.
Jesus, you've been rolling initiative rocks.
Nestor?
20.
20.
Okay.
Della?
16.
Sir Will?
12.
Umlo.
11.
Okay.
And, ladies and gentlemen, Barry Connick Jr.
7.
7. What'd you roll, Nestor? 20. Okay, and, ladies and gentlemen, Barry Connick Jr. Seven. Seven.
What'd you roll, Nestor?
20.
God damn it!
I'm low rolled an 11, you said?
You could have saved his life.
Probably not.
Probably not.
Del, you rolled a 16?
16.
Okay, and I'm low, and Sir Will rolled 11, or Sir Will rolled 12?
Sir Will rolled 12.
Okay, that's, I've asked too many questions.
All right.
Round one.
Baron.
Roll a perception check to see if you know this Baron.
Sure.
I might not even be able to see him through Nestor, but...
17.
Looks familiar. 19 if it's unusual stone. That, but... 17. Looks familiar.
19 if it's unusual stone.
That's where I am, stone pendant.
Something very familiar about this bear.
You only know one bear that you've become
friends with, but it's bigger and it's
emaciated. What the hell is it
doing here? You've only got one bear in your
friend group. We should note as well that
unless emaciation is taking a
gameplay manifestation
at fourth level they get a plus four to strength plus two to con so he's basically raging barry
as well from what you recognize yeah right so you maybe you recognize it i think it's a it's a bit
of a stretch to be like that's barry connick jr so i would say you probably do not recognize it
so what i'm going to do knowing that we're about to enter into this big valley i think we overheard some voices i'm gonna cast long shot of myself and
move up 20 feet to stand next to sir will okay who has to murder this bear nester is way up in
the front there and uh it is nester's turn. All right. Nestor...
Rabid bear running at you.
Yeah, he just sees a bear coming at him.
Come on.
Troy, I don't understand what you think.
This is the best thing that's ever happened.
He thought...
He killed Ben Vereen,
and then in the attempts to kill Barry Connick Jr.,
he was like,
it's just not enough.
I already killed Ben Vereen.
I know. I'll make them kill Barry Connick Jr., he was like, it's just not enough. I already killed Ben Vereen. I know.
I'll make them kill Barry Connick Jr.
To be fair, didn't gravity kill Ben Vereen?
That's true. If anything, it's gravity's fault.
Did gravity kill Gormley?
You're the game master. You are gravity.
You are all the forces of the world.
I am the law!
He's drunk with power.
I am gravity!
I am force law. All right. Let's get this point. He's drunk with power. I am gravity. I am force, normal, and gravity.
All right.
So, yeah, he just sees this bear coming at him that he certainly does not recognize.
Oh, man.
And he's going to do many shots, study targets.
Are you fucking kidding me?
Natural 20
Look at Joe's face
Oh no
Oh my god
Oh my god
This is amazing
This is amazing
Roll to confirm
29
Fan critical Fan critical.
Fan critical.
Troy should go to prison for this.
I apologize in advance to the fan that killed Barry Connick Jr.
Oh, no.
This is so great.
This is not great.
Roll a d20.
I mean...
Roll a d20 and please, please don't let it be that bad.
11.
Don't let it be double damage. Autom. Don't let it be double damage.
Automatically kill bears.
Oh my god.
It's double damage.
Bear down.
Jason from Glen Allen, Virginia.
Remember the name.
No more drinking for me.
The arrow punctures the liver.
Double damage and 1d4 bleed for four rounds.
Oh, my lord.
Oh, my god.
What's double damage on a many shot?
Well, only one of the arrows crits.
And it's triple damage.
And it's triple damage.
Okay.
Roll for damage.
I can't believe he rolled a natural 20.
I mean, it's just insane.
He probably could have survived a couple of arrows.
Exploding dice, too, right?
I mean, if he one-shotted a Bugain, I shudder to think what he's going to do to this emaciated bear.
Should we all share our favorite bear in memory while Skid does the math?
I saw at least one one rolled over there.
On a D8.
That's pretty good.
Skid, can you lie about the math?
And the sneak attack.
He's acting first.
Oh, that's true.
Barry was flat-footed.
I don't see why he would be flat-footed.
He's charging into combat knowing that he smelled this thing.
He's just flat-footed.
If anything, his first move was basically a surprise round.
I see, yes.
That's fair.
I was going to say,
he's flat-footed only by the rules of the game.
But, yeah, he was rushing into combat.
That's fine.
All right, Skid, what is the final total?
62 damage.
62!
All right.
What's the bear?
He is not down.
Oh, wow. He's conscious? He is not down. Oh, wow.
He's conscious?
He is conscious.
Well, will he be after the next shot?
No.
And he's bleeding.
So basically, by not one-shotting him, that might have just doomed Barry.
That arrow.
Well, two arrows.
Right into Barry's liver.
He's done.
He's dead.
He's burned.
I think you get another tax cut.
I do.
God damn it. I can't believe this!
Anybody want a bottle cap?
22. Yeah, that hits.
Jesus Christ.
If only you had one shot at him.
I can't believe there's a flautist
somewhere in here. I hate that.
Flouter.
Flouting.
What's her name from the Chell shovel?
18 damage.
18 damage. He is permanently tutor. What's her name from the Chell shovel? 18 damage. 18 damage.
He is permanently dead.
And Nestor has ended the threat facing the party.
You can thank him later.
Jesus Christ!
I'm sorry.
Let's all have a moment of silence
for yet another animal companion lost.
Just think about how someone's going to have to tell Lork at some point.
Are we out of combat?
Della, you're up.
Can I roll?
Do I recognize the dead bear?
Roll a perception check.
You might recognize it now that it's unconscious and dead.
16.
16.
No.
So none of us are ever going to know.
Well, you can always check it later.
Are we still on, like, where did it, you said we heard just the sound of voices?
Sound of voices in the distance, and one of which sicked this bear on you guys.
Okay, Della is going to
cast haste.
That's a hasty move. Hold on, actually.
Nope, I didn't prepare haste. Della is going to
double move out to get
over towards the wreckage
of the other hut. Now, did Troy
pay you not to prepare haste
because he hates it so much? I appreciate
it, but that was news to me.
I just take Barry off the initiative tracker.
Won't be needing him on the initiative tracker.
All right, so Della has entered into the clearing,
and she's now behind one of the broken-down huts.
All right, so you are behind one of the broken down huts,
and you don't see anything yet.
Just a dead bear.
Just a dead bear.
Don't worry, you can loot its corpse later, Dylan.
Sir Will, you're up.
Sir Will, you never knew this bear.
No, no, I don't think that, A, I've ever been angrier at you personally,
or B, ever been more separated
From what I know versus what my character knows
Yeah, yeah
This is a tragic, awful, awful game
And I don't know if I'll come back
For another episode
But Sir Will doesn't know
So Sir Will is going to be like
For Highbury!
With a big smile on his face
And leap over the stream
And jump into the ruins of the village and
spit on the carcass of the
bear and then wait for
a fucking opponent to come into the
view.
Are you ready?
I have never been more uncomfortable at a table
before. I know, I know.
Look how I feel.
Joe, you're Umlo. So it's
Umlo's turn. Umlo's going to move up and stab the dead body of the bear.
Wait, no, Umlo wouldn't know the bear.
Multiple times.
Umlo can roll perception.
Oh, yeah, Umlo wouldn't know him.
I will roll a...
They took a boat ride together.
Yeah, to be fair, Umlo...
Oh, he's got a good perception.
Nope.
15.
Nope.
Dead bear.
Dead bear.
Nothing to see here.
Dead, hostile bear.
Hey, just another dead bear in the woods.
Who cares about that bear?
Here's a philosophical question.
What if Troy had just been like, there's a bear, it's emaciated, it comes charging at you,
and then if one of us had made our perception checks, he then revealed that it was Barry Connick Jr.?
What would have been more cruel?
The only reason it's upsetting is because I told you beforehand.
But you're using that information would be the true definition
of metagaming. Rester did everything
right. Oh, of course.
I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying, what would
have been crueler on your part? I'm surprised
I think the latter...
What you just described would be the cruelest.
By the way, you just
killed Barry. Oh yeah, by the way, it was very kind of cute.
That's kind of good too.
That's like that episode of South Park where he feeds that kid his parents in chili.
Yeah.
Scott Tinnerman.
Scott Tinnerman.
The House of Atrus.
Scott Tinnerman's fortune.
House of Atrus.
Tinnerman's fortune.
All right.
Tinnerman's fortune.
Round two.
Round two, Baron.
You want to fire off a couple rounds on that dead bear?
Make sure it's still...
And stay down!
It's full of holes.
We're not going to eat it.
So Baron's going to move...
Loaded with bullets.
Baron's going to double move
40 feet forward
and do I get another
perception check or...
No.
On what?
On the bear.
No.
No.
You can do perception
on other things.
Yeah, I want to do
a general perception
to see if I can,
now that I'm closer,
locate where the voices
of what I presume
are giants are. Does that work?
Yeah.
That is 26.
27, I'm sorry. 27 perception.
These are big creatures
and you hear movement coming from the
back left and the back right.
As I'm looking at it, so stage left,
back left. Yeah, so
where Joe and Matthew are sitting.
I said, I tell the group, I tell the group.
Well, that explains it.
They're getting ready for a pincher maneuver.
Mamover.
Pincher.
Maneuver.
A pincher maneuver.
Pincher.
Their flanking bonuses are going to be off the charts.
Looks like Baron's been hitting the morning whiskey again.
Natural 20.
Nestor, you're up.
Nestor is going to try to climb
the hut that he's next to.
He'll try to get up on the roof.
Interesting.
What's your climb check?
Oh, wait.
Actually...
It's going to acrobatics up, maybe, if you want.
It's plus 8.
Yeah, you might not need to climb
if it's that broken down.
You could maybe jump from thing to thing.
Yeah.
If you want to spend...
I'm sure your acrobats is high enough, so if you want to spend your turn, I could get you up there and tell you what you're doing.
Yeah, I'll do that, yeah.
Okay.
It's a really interesting move here.
This is one of those things where you prepare, prepare, prepare, and then somebody...
I never thought someone would climb the building and look.
All right, you see two ogres.
Oh.
Okay.
Nothing. Nothing.
Nothing.
I'll be dead in less than ten minutes.
I just dropped something on the corpse of Barry.
Stop it.
Stop the wounds.
You see one ogre in sort of right directly behind the structure that was next to the structure that you're in, like right near the corpse of Barry.
Right.
On the far side is another structure.
There's an ogre behind there.
Towards the back.
Oh, no.
Is.
I have a feeling this is going to be.
Is this the growling, remember?
Well, that might have been Barry.
The growling was Barry.
Oh.
I have a feeling there's going to be something so horrible.
No worries about that growling anymore.
Towards the back is a creature.
It is a
looks to be like a
hill giant, wearing
a piecemeal armored
shawl made from
human-sized suits of
chain mail. Awesome. Whoa.
In his
hands is
a giant
scythe.
Oh no. With a
serrated blade.
Oh no.
The only time
you have heard about a scythe
wielding hill giant
is back
at Shinemon's Fortune.
When a scythe wielding hill giant is back at Shinemon's fortune. Oh.
When a scythe-wielding hill giant named Cormug Deadgut.
Yeah.
Held the scythe above Lork's head.
Yeah.
And threatened to kill him.
This is the guy.
This is the guy from episode 100.
This is the guy.
He's back.
Oh, my God.
And he has a very dangerous weapon.
It's a times four
credit card.
I think it's crit range is like 18 to 20 too, isn't it?
I don't think so. No, that can't be true.
I think it's just times four.
Which is...
That is character death!
That is recipe.
Scythe do have reach and trip though.
I believe.
Or at least reach.
Definitely trip.
I think it's just trip, actually.
Trip is just, it's not an automatic trip, though.
You decide to trip with it, and you don't take penalties if you fail.
That's when a weapon has the trip quality.
But enough about the trip quality.
Delanarn.
Nestor sees this stuff.
I don't know if he...
Do you tell them
to settle down?
There's three!
There's two ogres
and a big one
to heal John, I think.
Okay, Della is going to
move 30 feet
around the far side
to kind of get...
to prevent this flanking action
from happening.
Uh-huh.
And then she's going to
drink a potion of displacement.
Nice!
Ah, potion of displacement. Excellent. Yeah. Okay, cool. Where'd you get that? drink a potion of displacement. Nice. Potion of displacement.
Excellent.
Yeah.
Okay, cool.
Where'd you get that?
How'd you make it?
I can't remember.
We got it at...
Oh, look it up.
You just made it up
and put it on your sheet?
Yep.
Okay.
That's cool.
Like here?
Yeah.
I'm going to start doing that.
That's way more than 30.
I'm going to start doing that.
All right, Nestor,
you see Cormac Deadgut.
You don't know that's his name.
Yeah.
That's him on the TV screen, by the way.
Moves up to join one of the ogres.
Now they're very close to where Della is imbibing on the poche, Sir Will.
Hitting that poche.
Sir Will.
Oh, jeez.
This is a rough situation.
It's a bad situation. This is a bad situation.
This is not the kind of situation.
Please, bring out the parlor guard.
This is a bad situation.
Sir Will is going to move up roughly 20 to 25 feet next to the corpse of Barry.
He's going to instruct Lexington to pee on the corpse of the bear.
Okay.
Just get that in my notes.
So up ahead of him is a ten-foot-wide corridor that goes all the way clear to the back of the village with ruins on either side.
But the giants have not stepped out into that corridor.
So he's going to move up there.
And can he move and then ready a charge?
Isn't charge required a double move?
It does, but it's a standard action.
I don't know. You can't move and then charge. Isn't charge required a double move? It does, but it's a standard action. I don't know.
You can't move and then charge.
So, um...
I don't think you can ready a charge.
Okay.
So he'll move to there,
and he'll, for the moment,
just do total defense.
And hopefully,
if one of these guys steps out,
they can't get to him,
maybe he can get a charge in.
Actually, you know what?
He's not going to go all the way up that far.
He'll just move away from the corpse of Barry so that he has a clear lane in this open lane
and wait for a giant to step out.
Okay. Ogre time.
Ogre time!
One of them comes around, sees this Adela moving side to side,
and from ten feet away, swings with its great club.
Do I get cover for that bit of wall?
Well, it's around a corner.
Sure, sure.
Give yourself a plus two AC.
Natural one.
All right!
Wow.
See, I'm getting in trouble getting it around the corner there.
I'll roll in front of you to confirm.
Natty 18 is probably going to be fine.
Boo!
No!
Boo!
I want that fan fumbles!
Fan fumbles!
Boo!
Pull, pull, pull, pull.
And the other one just...
Rawr!
It comes...
10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40...
The bear's dead!
I love that bear more than anything.
It just comes out and exposes itself.
We'll say it doesn't come all the way, so provide yourself a little cover.
Okay.
It's now in the lane for Sir Willamette.
It is Um's turn.
Sweet Um's.
Sweet, gentle Um's.
Umlo's walking by that bear, and he's like, why do I know that bear?
Yeah.
And Umlo knows bears.
He spent time in the bear pits of Red Lake Park. If anyone knows a bear, it would be Umlo's walking by that bear, and he's like, why do I know that bear? Yeah. And Umlo knows bears. He spent time in the bear pits of Red Lake Park.
If anyone knows a bear, it would be Umlo.
Umlo is going to take a stabby attack at that ogre that stepped up.
So he's just outside of Sir Will's little charging lane.
He's going to stab into it.
Remember, he's 15 feet away, right?
Right, 15 feet away.
Sorry.
Oh, I'm sure I missed.
Didn't we talk about this?
I'm not supposed to play Umlo in combat.
It evens the fight for everybody.
So 15.
15.
I'm sorry, Umlo.
That's a miss.
Umlo.
No, it's not a 17.
Now he has to roll his C.
Oh, right.
Because it's a giant man.
17.
17.
Right, 17.
Giant's bane!
I always forget that bane part. Bane. Bane. 17 misses too. Right, 17. Giant's Bane! I always forget that Bane part.
Bane.
17 misses too.
Troy?
Oh, I'm...
17 misses as well.
Yes, 17 misses as well.
Sorry, I didn't...
No worries.
Are you rolling for the hand now?
Oh, the hand.
Right.
It's time to go raging!
Sorry.
The hand.
I mean, this is so hard to pass.
Yeah, he fails.
Oh, rage.
Oh, man.
Oh, man. He's a rageaholic.
You know what happens when animal companions die in an episode?
They're soon followed by fan favorites.
So, Umlo's safe.
So, Umlo's fine, yeah.
With Joe playing him anyway.
If Matthew was playing him, he'd be dead.
All right, so Umlo enters a rage.
Raging Umlo.
Round two.
Baron.
Baron.
Might be round three.
Dink-a-dink-dink-dink.
It is round three.
Yes.
Rink-a-dink-dink-dink.
Can I just say before we start round three,
I obviously thought this was a possibility,
but if Nestor doesn't crit on that arrow,
most likely Barry survives through the round,
which would be enough for something to save him
or some sort of recognition.
All the fans hate you, Troy.
There's no coming back from it now.
Did I confirm the crit, Grant?
No, you didn't.
No, I blame Skid personally.
I know.
I think Skid should
get a bottle cap, but he won't
because you're the worst GM in the world.
I wouldn't even take it if I got one.
I know, that's why I didn't give it to him. I didn't want him to
get the light in the death
of that poor beast.
It's extremely tragic,
and you haven't had a moment to really think about the
larger implications of this.
But don't worry, I'll give you that time.
Baron, what are you going to do?
Baron moves 20 feet to the right so that he is 20 feet away from the first ogre that is down the 10-foot lane.
He props his gun up on the dead bear's corpse and really takes aim and shoots at the ogre.
With a...
Oh, it's not going to be a rapid shot
with a 17 against touch AC.
17 against touch
is a hit.
Oh, yeah, it is.
Let's go with 14 points of damage.
Mark me down.
I got you.
That's 7 times 2.
6 points of damage. I got it.
Okay, and you moved to get there?
Yes, I did. so I'm all wrapped up
Nestor coin
Up atop this beehive-esque
Structure
Do I have a shot on this
Ogre that Baron just shot?
I can't tell if it's
It's gonna get, I mean, you're high up
It's gonna get plus two to its AC
It's kinda got a little bit of comfort there
Then I'm going to do a
deadly aim sub-eat target
and many shots
take it off.
Probably not.
19.
19 is a miss.
Mmm.
The shots land
in the bear's core. You see, yeah, exactly.
Second shot.
20.
20 is also a miss.
These are some beefy ogres.
They've been out in the trenches with Cormog, Dead, Got, Della.
Ogre up in your face, 10 feet away.
Della's going to cast Blade Lash.
Nice.
Blade Lash.
I love that spell.
To try to trip them.
Does Blade Lash have a two hit, or is it just like a... It's a trip attempt.ash. Nice. Blade Lash. Love that spell. To try to trip him. Does Blade Lash have a two hit
or is it just like a...
It's a trip attempt.
Yeah.
Okay.
I mean, I can take a five foot step
to the left, right?
It's up to you.
You're still in range.
Straight back,
I mean, if you want to.
Just so I don't have to
get the cover.
Yeah.
Okay.
So I'll roll a cast defensively
which I'm going to...
I have to get a two or higher.
Made it. Nice. I thought it was a nat going to... I have to get a two or higher. Made it.
Nice.
I thought it was a natty one.
I know, it's a seven.
Okay, so I get a plus ten bonus.
So I get a plus sixteen to this roll.
Plus sixteen to try and trip.
Ninety-five.
Twenty-one.
Twenty-one.
Is this against AC or is it against CMD?
CMD.
Not gonna happen.
Not gonna happen.
You know what CMD is CMD. Not gonna happen. Not gonna happen. You know what CMD is?
Sure.
22.
Anything higher than a natural five.
Okay, and I took five steps,
so that is my turn.
It's crazy to think this worked on Gristlecrack,
but not on this ogre.
I will Keen and Shock the Scimitar.
All right, so you took your five-foot step,
tried Blade Lash, did not work, Keen and Shock the scimitar. Alright, so you took your five foot step, tried blade lash, did not work, keen
and shocked the scimitar. Can't say she
didn't try. And it is
Cormug Deadgut's turn.
Cormug
Deadgut, what's he gonna do?
He's safe back there right now.
Letting his ogres
do the dirty work for him.
And he's a smart general.
Um... Oh, by the way, Porphyria.
That was the name of the disease that King George III supposedly has,
but I think there's some...
And it makes your urine blue.
It's a blood disease, right?
Yes.
Yes, and it makes your urine blue, and it makes you crazy.
All right.
Glad we got closure on that.
Porphyria.
Oh, so he passes through the lane, the
charging lane, and behind another building.
Wow. So now
Cormac is coming around.
Sir Will.
Sir Will.
Interesting little combat. I like the way the buildings are.
Yeah.
Let's see.
Sir Will is going to
charge, but I'm just wondering how, like...
Can I go...
Like that?
Like, as if my straight line was like this?
It's a straight line.
It's still a straight line from here to here.
See, I've always thought diagonals, but...
No, why wouldn't you be able to go...
It's still a straight line.
It's a straight diagonal line.
Yeah, it's just that because of the boxes, you have to go like that.
The game does.
That's just the grid.
But the game just cares about straight lines.
If you were to take a ruler, it would still be a straight line.
Yeah, yeah.
No, it's fine.
I'm doing it.
Okay.
All right, so Sir Will is going to charge.
Sir Will is going to charge.
For Hyrule!
For Hyrule!
And he goes.
Lean tilts into this ogre.
Oh, by the way, he's also, as he's going to go, he looks down.
And he doesn't do any of that bad stuff I said that he does to a bear.
That was just Joe talking.
He's angry.
Troy.
Understandably, I think.
Yeah.
Sir Will looks down at this bear and he sees how it's been, like, tortured and hurt and maybe used in fighting pits or maybe abused to become an evil animal.
It's very clear that it's been abused.
Yeah, when it wasn't meant to be.
And he sees this thing, this ogre,
as one of the masters that did this to him.
And he just looks at him, and he's like,
thinking of Lexington and his animal companion, you know?
And he's just like,
this is a disgusting act, and you will pay for it!
And he's going to challenge him.
He's going to use his Cavalier Challenge
and then charge for
Highbury.
Natty 10. That should do it.
That's a 26 to hit.
26 is a hit. Nice. 26 to hit.
Highbury Charge!
Highbury Charge does
24 points of damage.
Nice.
Exactly 24 hit points left.
Wow.
Nice.
Awesome.
Out.
Boom.
So that ogre falls.
Nice.
Awesome.
That's awesome.
Wow.
Okay.
All right.
And you're left with a tiny bit of space back there past it.
Yes.
All right.
I'm all surrounded by ruins now.
I got a building right to my back.
Alright, ogre one is ogre
dead. Ogre two
will...
He's looking right at Della with her blade rash.
And old Dells. Just whipped it
at her feet. And imagine these are just
filthy, ugly creatures. You've faced
ogres a bunch at this point.
It goes to
attack Della.
Whoa. That's to be a hit.
No, you've got to roll your 50% mischance, my friend.
I sure do.
And if I hit, it's 2d8 plus 10 damage.
That's going to hurt.
50% mischance, huh?
So 50 or 1 or higher, and this is going to go through.
Want me to roll that in front of you, too?
Whatever you want.
Just for you, buddy.
100.
Oh, no. Oh,, too. Whatever you want. Just for you, buddy. 100. Oh, no.
Oh, my God.
A perfect 100.
Keeping it 100.
I think that means you do double damage.
I think it's exploding dice.
Yeah.
It should be.
All right.
I know you're angry because you lost your bear.
I just think we should kill all of us.
That'd be fun.
The Adventures of Pembroke and Footless Lork.
All right. A one on a D8 and a six, so 16 points advantage.
That's not bad.
For a max of 26.
Survivable.
Boom!
Great club to the face!
Right on the face!
And it is Umlo's turn.
Umlo is going.
He doesn't know that the boss man went around this other building.
He can't see.
He just sees that over in front of him just got killed by Sir Will.
So he's going to look to Nestor up at the top of this building.
Do you see it?
Do you see him?
Yeah.
Yeah, so Nestor turns, makes eye contact with Umlo,
and shifts his bow to aim at the big guy.
Okay, so Umlo's going to follow that gaze around the corner.
He's got to do a little leap over a river there,
but he's basically imposing himself between Nestor and this creature,
but he still doesn't see it because it's still behind a building. He's very brave of Umlo.
And by the way, Umlo's thing that he failed the
will save on is dead. Right. So now
he can move to another one. And he can also come out of a
rage if you want him to. He can come out of a
rage, depending on how you want to play that.
Um, yeah, I'll have him
come out of a... No, because if he fails
the next will save, then he can rage. If he comes out of the
rage, then he's fatigued for one round.
Right, but then he can't enter into a new rage.
Right. Okay, so stay rage. Yeah, we'll just keep him raging.
Round might as well.
Four-ish.
Baron. Baron is
going to take notice
of Umlo's move over there.
He was so moved by
his appeal for the Gorgut
that he is going to go over
and help him not die.
Will put, Grant.
Thanks.
Leaving Della completely alone on the other side of the village with an ogre.
I'm sure she'll go.
Oh, I'm sorry.
There's Sir Will, who could always turn into an earth elemental and protect her.
But if he's a coward.
I'm not blaming you.
I'm just saying this is a...
You know what they say.
Dwarves stick together.
Nestor.
They do say that.
Perched atop.
So I see this nasty customer.
And he's got a scythe holding it over his head,
and he's got this quilt made out of iron.
So do I have a shot?
Do I have a shot on him?
Yeah, same thing, plus two to its AC.
Then I'm going to study the target once again.
Deadly aim.
Come on.
Crit this one.
Crit this one.
Oh, no. No. aim. Come on. Crit this one. Crit this one. Oh no. No.
Natural one. Oh no.
He won't confirm. The dice giveth.
The dice taketh away. Natural three.
Oh no!
Oh my gracious. Twenty. Not on this
boss. Twenty to hit.
Fumble. Oh
no, dude!
You know, we're also continuously
as we get new subscribers, we're getting
new submissions. So this list
has expanded even since last week.
Oh, that's awesome.
So, ranged fumble.
Ranged fumble. Roll a
D20. Eight.
Eight. Roll a
D15. Okay.
Here we go.
Oh, no.
This one comes from Jenny in Colorado.
Oh.
Skid, who says...
I could visit her personally, too.
This one is called...
Yell at her.
Polly wanna whacker?
You have aimed precisely, but you couldn't control the bird that flew directly into your trajectory.
Taking the damage meant for your enemy.
Save or become dazzled for 1d4 rounds.
Wow.
Oh, that's kind of fun.
I pulled a Randy Johnson.
Yeah, Randy just poof.
And is the same my creatures AC?
Yes.
All right, so it's DC 21.
Okay.
That's a will save?
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, that's up to Jenny.
I've got to check. Yep, will save.
DC 21 will.
I'll never make it.
Nope, failed.
So dazzled for...
1d4 rounds?
For 2 rounds.
What does dazzled mean again, Troy?
Dazzled means he is unable to see well
because of overstimulation of the eyes.
So feathers just flew out of your face. Dazzled creature he is unable to see well because of overstimulation of the eyes. So feathers just flew out in your face.
Dazzled creature, minus one penalty on attack rolls
and sight-based perception checks.
So Nestor already has the minus two from the Ettenflees.
Oh, I forgot to roll for those Ettenflees after that thing.
But yeah, so a minus one.
Dazzled isn't that bad.
No, it's not that bad.
It's not.
All things considered, that was a very nice fumble, Jenny. Thank you very much.
I will come visit you personally
and bring you some
corn. A dead bird. I was waiting for
you hitting your nearest ally.
Just boom. Right in Umlo's face.
Right in the back of Umlo's head.
Imagine if Nestor killed Umlo.
Oh my god!
We've already killed one
ally. Umlo's probably the only one he hasn't
ever accidentally hit.
Accidentally.
That's probably true.
Tell Anarm what he got.
Della is going to do spell combat, spell strike.
Yes, she is.
She's going to take a five-foot step.
Because of improved spell combat, she automatically passes her casting defensively check.
Okay.
Magus is so awesome.
And what's the level on spell?
Yeah.
And natural 20.
Natural 20!
Wow.
So remind me what you did again?
Just spell comment, spell strike.
Shock and grasp.
Oh, boy.
Oh, this is so dead.
You should almost...
Please confirm.
Oh, come on!
But all those dice?
Exploding dice?
Exploding dice on 11d6.
Oh, no.
Now, explain the 11d6, because we've had some questions about this.
Yeah, we did.
So I keened and shocked the scimitar.
So it's 1d6 for the scimitar, 1d6 for the flaming from the scimitar, 1d6 from the shocking.
That's the 3d6.
Right.
It's naturally a flaming scimitar.
Naturally a flaming scimitar.
And a shocking scimitar.
And a shocking.
So that's the 3d6 plus 4.
That would be the weapon.
Okay.
Then the shocking grasp gives me 8d6
because I'm an 8th of Omegas.
I took the
Metamagic Feat
to keep Shocking Grasp interesting.
So it's going to be 11d6.
Because it would normally cap at 5d6?
Yeah, 5d6.
Wow.
Oh man, this is exploding.
And it's exploding dice.
I didn't take this through. We need. Oh, man. This is exploding. And it's exploding dice. Oh, boy.
I didn't take a minute through.
We did an exploding dice drop.
Oh, one.
That's one six on the first.
There's one.
Just pull that out there.
So that's...
11.
That's 18 without this.
18 without the six?
Yes.
So then it's 24.
Here come five more dice.
Okay, only one six.
No more sixes. 34 plus one. 35. So 39 points's 24. Here come five more dice. Okay, only one six. No more sixes.
34 plus one.
35.
So 39 points of damage.
39 points of damage.
Whoa.
That thing got away with that one.
Yes, it did.
Yeah, it's in pretty near-death shape.
First attack.
First attack.
And probably in the real world, shouldn't uh explode uh precision dice second
attack uh 19 to hit miss right miss yeah okay okay so both of those missed oh my gracious
all right that was fun core mug dead gut steps up um are Are Baron and Umlo right there
together? Yeah. No, we're
five feet away from each other.
Joe pointed out that I was standing in the middle of a stream,
so I begrudgingly accepted
that I wouldn't be doing that. Yeah, but the stream
doesn't... No, I know.
Alright, he's going to attack Umlo
with a scythe. Okay.
Let's get that quick natty 20
out of the way.
Yeah.
Here we go.
So we can, I don't have to do Umlo anymore today.
Uh, Natty 4.
19 to hit.
That is a miss.
Okay, and that's all I can do,
because he had to move to get there.
Sweet!
Right?
Did I move more than five feet to get there?
Uh, you did, yes.
Okay. You guys can come around the corner.
All right, so he comes and does this.
Ooh, a giant scythe comes swinging down in front of Umlo.
Tung!
Off the armor, Sir Will.
Sir Willamette is going to ride around chasing this guy
and then double move into a position directly to his rear to try to set up a charge.
Okay, and you're outside of his reach.
Yes.
I'm about 20 feet away from him.
Five foot step reach.
Behind him.
Omlo's right on the other side.
All right.
And it is the ogre's turn.
Just got effed up by old Delski.
It's going to swing its great club.
That's all it can do.
It needs to take a five foot step, but yeah.
Natural 20.
Oh no.
Natural.
Twanzo!
Oh man. 2d8 plus 10 if this confirms. That'll be 4d8 plus 10. Natural 20. Oh, no. Natural. Twanzo!
Oh, man.
2d8 plus 10 if this confirms.
That'll be 4d8 plus 10.
Natural 1 to confirm.
Okay.
So roll your displacement.
I will, and then I'll roll exploding dice.
That's right.
If you get the displacement.
All right.
Let's keep it fair.
I like to roll these in front of you because it's fun.
49.
49.
Awesome.
Oh, man.
Judy, 8 plus 10 with exploding dice.
So you swing a crushing blow into nothingness.
Let's just see for shits and giggles if I would have exploded.
Nope.
It would have just been 19 points.
It's a great club, right?
Is that what you said?
Yeah.
I'd love to imagine it just like taking out part of the ruin that's between...
Right.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That'd be good.
Some good artwork.
Okay.
It is Umlo's turn.
Umlo, this thing just swung a giant scythe at you.
All right.
So Umlo has to roll a save.
A save.
A will save, which he fails.
So sure enough, he stays into his rage, and he'll back up ten feet and take
a full attack actione
with Heart Spit. Heart Spit up!
First attack, 26
to hit. Yeah, there you go.
Um, low. It's a giant. Does it.
It's a giant.
Nick, um, low.
Oh my gosh.
13 points of damage.
4d6 plus 4, and I rolled 13 total points of damage.
Awful.
And then second attack is a miss.
All right, I'm sorry.
Sorry.
Next round, Baron.
Baron is going to take a full round action to target the arms of dead guy yeah oh no straight line from
all four of your corners of your square
I'm curious to all four corners of his
square I don't know I don't think so and
Baron so it's going to get all right
five foot step well now you're in range
that's fine but no now you're in like he
can attack you sure opportunity there you
go okay all right he's done yeah yeah But no, now you're in like... He can attack you. Attack of opportunity. There you go.
Okay.
All right, he stepped out.
Yes!
Yeah!
Normal damage. I have never seen that die roll below 15!
I know.
Normal damage.
Except for all the times.
15 points of damage.
And the item he is holding of my choice leaves his hand, even if it's being held by both
hands.
And that is his serrated scythe.
Yeah!
All right, so walk me through this.
You shot at his hands.
Arms. On a hit, the target
takes no damage.
Huge mistake. I'm glad you made me walk you through this
because we would have gotten messages.
On a hit, the target takes no damage from the hit, but drops
one carried item of the gunslinger's choice
even if the item is wielded with two hands.
Which it is.
Items held in a locked gauntlet
are not dropped on a hit.
I knew I should have worn it. That's a reason to
have a locked gauntlet. I knew I should have had a locked gauntlet.
It drops its murder.
Nice. Oh, so
good. And you know what?
Bottlecap. Yeah! That was really
good. That was big. That was good, buddy.
That was really good.
That feels so good.
It is going to be Nestor's turn.
All right.
So he's going to try to recover from the feather explosion.
So shake it off.
And no, not this time, my friend.
Another natural one.
No.
Oh, my God.
To confirm.
Does not confirm. All right. So it's a miss. It's not my God. No! To confirm. Does not confirm.
All right.
So that's a miss.
That's a miss.
A mini shot, unfortunately.
And 19.
Yeah.
Natural 19 on the second shot.
Okay.
That's a 30 to hit.
That's a hit.
It's always the mini shot that fumbles.
Do you notice that?
15 damage.
15 damage.
All right.
So Nesta just perched up there.
Hits with one. Della. All right, so Nesta just perched up there. Hits with one.
Della, face to face.
Della's going to take a five-foot step.
Spell combat, spell strike with a new little spell.
Vampiric Touch.
Are you going to take hit points away from it?
Yeah, man.
She's so evil!
Spell attack.
Miss. Okay, first attack. The spell's so evil. Spell attack. Miss.
Okay, first attack.
The spell's still charged.
Right.
Natty, 16.
Nice.
So, 26.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical threat.
Critical.
Critical threat.
24.
Confirmed crit.
Oh, my God.
Spell crit.
So, that's a magical crit?
Yep.
Oh, this is bad. Oh, boy. This is going to be so bad. Oh, this is going to be fun. Troy's going to be so angry. Oh, my God. Spell crit. So that's a magical crit? Yep. Oh, this is bad.
Oh, boy.
This is going to be so bad.
Oh, this is going to be fun.
Troy's going to be so angry.
Roll a d20.
Natural 20.
Oh, come on.
Yeah, that's a critical crit.
Come on.
That's a critical crit.
Natural 20.
This is Sarah from Bristol in the UK.
Oh.
Curing bolt.
Normal damage from the magic attack plus 1d8 electricity damage.
The caster regains.
This is so crazy.
You did vampiric touch.
The caster regains half the total damage as healing.
Oh, my God.
Oh, wow.
Curing bolt.
Wow.
And it's so crazy.
It's like there was still a little shocking left in your scimitar.
Yeah, and it just something in the magic realm.
Just like.
So it's going to be 76.
I'll tell you right now.
It's dead.
All right.
So roll to see how many hit points you get.
You could get all the way back up.
Because you're getting vampiric touch and you're getting the crit healing.
I'm only.
Yeah, I'm going to get all my HP back.
So it doesn't even matter.
All right.
What do you mean it doesn't matter? It's amazing!
I know what you mean. Explain to me then...
Could have been exploding dice on that one.
In cinematic terms, what happens?
So Della, her off hand
starts to glow and she grasps the hilt of it.
All red. And it's all red and like
blood colored. And she just takes a giant
uppercut and just slashes him right through
the center. And then the power of it infuses back into her, and she's like...
Awesome.
Thank you, Sarah, from the UK.
We need that old channel positive energy sound.
Yeah.
Wow.
Wow, Vimter.
Touch.
So good.
I love moments like that when just what happens in the game mechanically happens to match up with what you were planning.
Yeah, that's really cool.
All right, so it is going to be Cormug Deadgut's turn.
What's he going to do?
What's he going to do?
I could cleave.
Except you're not carrying anything.
I'm not carrying anything.
Yeah, I could, like, the old fist slam cleave.
It's so lame.
Do that.
Pick up your weapon and expose your flank.
Pick up the weapon, expose my flank.
Throw it out there.
You could yield, sir.
Surrender.
Oh, man, I want to attack so bad.
Five foot step back, pick up the scythe.
Okay.
Waste my turn.
Oh, that was so good, Barrett.
That was awesome.
I mean, it just, when you take the power out of your hands like that.
Umlo gets an attack of opportunity.
For the five foot step?
Oh, five foot step, then pick up. Okay, got it.
Why don't you pick it up and then five foot
step so I can get an attack of opportunity? You know, I thought about it,
but I wanted to avoid the attack of opportunity.
Alright, Sir Will.
Alright, enough
of this. Sir Will comes riding around the back of this creature, and it drops its weapon.
It's focused on picking that up.
I'm going to kind of roll with he doesn't see Sir Will, doesn't know that he's back there.
Might know that someone's back there, but I could go with that.
Sir Will is going to fast dismount Lexington. What? Or at least attempt to.
And fails, but it doesn't really matter.
So it takes a move action.
He gets off of Lexington and enacts the belt.
The earth elemental.
He becomes a large earth elemental.
About 15 feet behind this guy, right?
All of a sudden, this guy just hears this deep, rumbling voice.
He just hears,
I am Sion of Rosag,
knight of the forge of Minderhall.
I command you in his name,
lay down your arms and save yourself for the wars to come.
Wow.
Wow.
Roll an intimidate check.
Can I use a fake intimidate score that's not Sir Wills?
He has no intimidate.
Give yourself a plus two for sure.
Okay.
All right.
A plus two on top.
Come on.
Why can't it just be natural 20 every time?
It's a 16. What you have
done is it like, it was
reaching down to pick up its scythe and it just
turns and looks
up at you.
Is he shaken?
Exposing its back.
I don't know if he's quite shaken,
but he is focused on the
Earth Elemental. I mean, is this guy like, I mean, nothing like he doesn't, does he know?
I mean, does he have no idea of like the name of Rose Ag or the lighting of the forge or
any of that?
I figured, I thought maybe he's a high enough up guy that he might know kind of Orathash's
plan.
And like, you know, I don't know.
I just thought it might mean something powerful religiously.
If it doesn't, cause he doesn't know, then that makes perfect sense.
You would know, you would know from his reaction that he
probably isn't high enough up in the
chain to know what that means,
but he's definitely, like, staring
at a large mound of earth
talking to him.
Alright, Umlo.
Umlo
is going to take a five-foot step up
and attack with Heart Spit once again.
Miss.
I swear to God.
That's a hit.
21 hits exactly.
21 hits exactly.
There we go.
There we go. That's good.
20. 20 points of damage.
Okay. 20 points of damage.
Are they going to keep him alive
to get one good full- round attack off with this guy?
Let's find out.
I thought the bear would last a couple more rounds.
Not Nestor and Baron.
All right, next round.
Baron.
Barone is going to yield the...
No, I'm not going to yield the floor.
I'm going to shoot this guy three times.
What are you talking about?
Shoot him.
Wide open shot.
Boom.
First attack.
That is a misfire.
Should have healed the floor.
Your instincts are correct?
Baron, uh, uh, well.
Yeah, I wish I could, like, quick drop my other pistol, but.
What does he say?
Does he say something badass?
He says, fill your hands with lead.
And then he, oh, not me.
I wasn't talking about me.
I meant dead gut over there.
Nestor coin.
Oh, man.
All right, so he's still shaking off the remnants of his bedazzlement.
Nestor's gonna focus hard
and draw two arrows, take another
shot.
21.
No, wait, sorry.
Let's get that plus two. 23.
23 hits exactly. 21 plus
two. Right. Booyah.
This is many shot?
Yep.
34 damage.
Okay.
Just lights him up with two arrows.
Two arrows from Jolta.
And second attack is a miss.
Okay.
Oh, Jolta.
Not rolling well.
Della, you just destroyed this ogre and, like, took in some of its energy.
A little bit of dark energy. A little bit of dark energy.
A little bit of dark energy, as if you needed more.
Della is going to double move to get over
towards Sir Will
and Lexington.
Alright, Cormac Deadgun
in what may very well be the last
actions of his life.
Takes a full round attack on the Earth Elementals.
Oh boy. Oh man.
You've made a terrible mistake.
Swing number one.
We're all in front of the table.
Ooh, Natty 17.
That'll be a hit.
Damn it.
You know, I've got to say, Joe, that's a really good Earth Elemental voice.
It is.
Really good job.
Good job.
Damn it.
That's going to be 20 points of damage.
2d6 plus 10.
Here comes the next one.
Scythe attack number two.
Oh, it was sitting on that 20 for half a second.
But that's going to be a 25 to hit.
That hits.
Hits now for very little damage.
13 points of damage.
Chip, chip, chipping away.
And five foot step doesn't do anything.
Swinging for his life.
Die!
Die! Die!
And Sir Will's turn.
Oh my god, you just see this huge rock of a hand come swinging around almost in slow motion.
Nice.
Smash!
Natty 17!
Yeah, there you go.
Whoa.
That is gonna be a hit.
Oh, also, I'm sorry.
His whole speech to him was a challenge.
A Cavalier's challenge.
Ah, okay.
So let me just...
That does 14 points of damage on the first slam.
Nice.
Save yourself the second slam.
Get out of here.
Because Sir Will has avenged Lork.
Yeah, wow.
I got barrier.
Cormac Dead got his dad.
Wow.
Awesome.
I'm full.
Troy, you didn't say that he killed Nestor, so how did he avenge Barry Connick Jr.?
That's true.
I'm just saying.
You are out of combat.
Wow.
It feels like ages ago we lost Barry Connick Jr.
I know.
First attack of the episode.
So, Baron saw in that moment the reason he targeted his arms was to, like, get that horrific-looking weapon out of his hands.
Serrated blade.
Can he examine it?
Is it magical?
Sure.
You don't detect any magic off it.
It's masterwork quality.
Okay.
Masterwork. Large scythe. Just offered. It's masterwork quality. Masterwork.
Large scythe. Just a big, ugly scythe.
Brutal.
Now, these giants,
hill giant,
two ogres, are bleeding
out on the ground.
But, Sir Will, you notice
as you were driving by that this is
an abused bear. Now that you guys
have a moment to see it,
you don't have to roll perception to realize
it was some sort of abused creature.
Yes, Sir Will is going to...
He definitely wants to go over to it,
thinking it might not be dead.
He might just be unconscious and dying.
He's going to ride up to it with Lexington
and dismount, kneel ride up to it with Lexington And dismount
Kneel down
Next to it and just see that it's kind of
It's not like a dire bear
It doesn't seem to be an evil creature
It just is abused and was put to work on something
Roll a perception check
Evil
19
You stoop down near
This bear and
Something catches your eye.
And you see it has something around its neck.
Almost like a collar, but very shoddily made.
No.
No.
Oh.
And etched on the collar is something that you might be familiar with.
Maybe not, but it's a symbol of a black arrow.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, I mean, he would have seen the same symbol on Lork's armor.
I would assume.
Not that it's his bear necessarily, but that it's a Black Arrow bear, you know?
And if you say that to the other people in that moment,
Baron and Della understand who this now larger bear was. We recognize him.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Sir Will is going to say a prayer over
who he now finds out is Barry Connick Jr.
We've heard of him, I'm sure.
Yeah.
Della just looks up at Nestor,
who I think is still on top of the hut,
or the desert,
and just is like staring
like fury at him.
Just absolute rage.
What do I do? i don't get it nesta please we know it was an accident what was an accident i know what are you talking about look deliberate
to me what did they be no i did it what are you talking deliberately shot that bear who's coming
up for pity's sake you two he didn't mean it'm honestly confused. I don't know what's happening.
Baron will walk over to Sir Will as soon as he's done with his prayer.
Yeah, he's trying to say a prayer to Iomedi to recognize the difficulties that this creature went through.
Because animal companions like this, like Lexington, they are divine creatures.
I mean, not like Lexington because he's a cavalier, but like creatures that would have been a ranger's animal companion
are sent by your god to you.
So he feels this religious connection that this animal would have had.
So he's unsure exactly who the deity is,
but he prays to Iomadai and hopes to see his soul carried to somewhere
where brave animals rest in peace.
Baron puts his small
hand on Sir Will's tiny shoulder and says
this is Barry
Connick Jr.
He was a good companion.
He strode
step by step with Lork.
And he's proof of the
good in this world.
But he's also proof
how fragile it all is.
And if you just take one wrong step in the wrong
direction, it can all go haywire.
But he's
exactly why we're fighting.
And he's one more reason
we have to finish
this fight, Sir Will.
I hope you'll
continue with me, because I'm
happy to walk side by side with you.
I will, Sheriff.
I believe this creature, and he kind of
looks back at Della for a second.
Don't know if she's looking at him or not.
This creature shows us what can happen to a good creature
when it is taken in by evil.
We must stop it from happening.
We cannot let this happen to anyone else.
And Baron reaches to grab the brim of his hat that's not there
and then just kind of awkwardly
kind of puts his hands on his forehead and nods at him and just walks away and and uh sir will
just kind of like pulls lexington a little closer because you can see what can happen like he he
would think he just doesn't know what what he would do if that ever happened to lexington he
couldn't bear it dell is going to reach over and pull the three arrows out of him gently,
and then she's just going to snap them all in half
and throw them on the ground.
There's no need for that.
And then she's going to start dancing to no music.
And Sir Will stands over the body of Barry Connick Jr.
Probably doesn't hit you, certainly, not as much as it does Baron Andello,
who traveled with him for a long time.
It was an important part of the group.
Barry stay and puts his hands on there,
and he sees in this bear a part of himself, in a way.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
He sees Sir Will's journey in all of this.
And as you put your hands on the corpse of the bear,
they begin to glow with Yomadai's light.
And you feel as if this bear was still alive.
You would have the ability to lay on hands.
See you next week. you would have the ability to lay on hands.
See you next week. Oh, yeah!
