Today, we're talking about Tom Brady's re-retirement, the recent Fed interest rate hike, the FBI's
search of President Biden's lake house, and other top news for Friday, February 3rd.

Here's the quote of the day,
Our love grows soft if it is not strengthened by truth, and our truth grows hard if it's
not softened by love.
John Stott.
Let's get started with some espresso shots.
Tom Brady has un-unretired, or re-retired, whatever you call it, he says he's now done
playing football for good.
This retirement announcement came one year to the day from his previous one.
In case you missed the accolade summary the last time around, he leaves the NFL holding a number
of records including, most games won, 251, most Super Bowl wins, 7, more than any single team,
the Steelers and the Patriots each have 6, the only player to win a title in 3 different decades,
the only player to win a title in three different decades,
and he is the oldest player from the NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL to win MVP.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft says he wants to sign Brady to a one-day contract so he can officially retire as a member of the Patriots, where he played most of his career.
It's not wrong to enjoy eternally insignificant things like sports,
but remember that whoever your QB1 is, nothing of true importance has changed.
Hebrews chapter 13 verse 8 says,
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Jerome Powell's hiking trip is slowing down.
On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve raised interest
rates by 0.25 percentage points, a smaller increment than the 0.75 and 0.5 percentage
point bumps seen in 2022. Federal Reserve Chairman Powell noted that inflation is cooling.
Last year ended with inflation at 6.5%, down from its 9.1% peak, but still well above the Fed's 2%
target. However, he's still not
ready to don a party hat, promising a couple more rate hikes this year.
Interest rates aren't the only numbers getting attention. Apple up 3.7%, Amazon up 7.4%,
Alphabet up 7.3%, and Meta up 23.3%. All saw stock swings after announcing Q4 earnings, while FedEx, PayPal,
Pinterest, and Rivian are reducing their numbers. All announced layoffs this week.
Our hope is never contingent on how the economy or stock market is doing. It's much more secure
than that. Regardless of whether things get worse or better during your lifetime, everything
eventually ends well for followers of Christ. Job, chapter 12, verse 10 says, The life of every living thing is in his hand,
as well as the breath of all humanity.
The FBI searched President Biden's vacation home in Delaware on Wednesday.
The agents didn't find classified documents, but they didn't come home entirely empty-handed from the last round of Pokemon Go Documents
Edition. Handwritten notes and other materials from Biden's time as VP were taken for review.
Biden's attorney said the search was planned and a process we will continue to fully support and
facilitate. This was the third Biden property to be scoped after classified docs were found at his
other Delaware residence and D.C. office.
Special Counsel Robert Herr begins work on the investigation this week.
Meanwhile, the FBI is planning to search former VP Pence's Indiana home,
and Special Counsel Jack Smith is continuing his look into the roughly 300 documents with classified markings taken from former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.
with classified markings taken from former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.
Here's a verse to consider if you're wondering if you, too, should check your closet for classified documents. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are justified freely
by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans chapter 3 verses 23 through Chapter 3, Verses 23-24. This episode is sponsored by The Hope Line.
America's young people are in crisis. Here are some stats to help paint a picture of being a
young person in America. Suicide is the leading cause of death, self-harm is up 25% in the last
year, and over 2 million 12-17 year olds reported using drugs in the last month. The Hope Line provides free 24-7 live
crisis chat to a generation searching for answers. And now they're launching the Hope Box,
a resource for educators and pastors designed to help them tell students that the help and hope
is always available. The world needs hope. Let's give it to them. We're matching the
first $1,000 to those that contribute. Check out the link in the show notes.
In other brews, here's a rapid round of updates.
After heated discussions, the House voted along party lines to remove Representative
Ilhan Omar from her seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Republicans argue that her past statements, which both sides of the aisle have deemed anti-Semitic, disqualify her,
while Democrats say she's already been held accountable
and the removal is an act of political revenge.
The College Board has revised a controversial AP African American Studies course,
snipping some concepts like Black Lives Matter,
slavery reparations, and queer theory from the curriculum.
National debate was sparked after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis threatened to ban the
original version. He says the state's education board will be reviewing the new version.
Netflix previewed some details regarding its Q1 password sharing crackdown, saying households can
share an account, but all devices must connect to the primary location's Wi-Fi every 31 days to avoid getting blocked. Account owners can add extra
members for less than the price of Netflix's basic plan. Where's the love, Netflix?
What happens when the U.S. maxes out its $31.4 trillion credit card this summer?
We may never know. After meeting with President Biden on Wednesday,
Speaker McCarthy says they'll find common ground before that happens. Dems want to raise the
borrowing limit unconditionally, while the GOP wants any potential agreement to include budget
cuts. That buzz you hear is the beehive freaking out after Beyonce announced dates for a summer
world tour. Those wanting tickets will need to register
through Ticketmaster as a verified fan, and Swifties everywhere have a message.
