Dr. Anthony Fauci has announced he's stepping down as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease in December. The 81-year-old face of the nation's pandemic response has served as a public health scientist

for over 50 years and advised seven presidents through outbreaks of HIV, AIDS, SARS, Ebola, Zika, MERS, and every flavor of COVID-19. Generally speaking, Democrats are bidding farewell. President Biden even extended his, quote, deepest thanks to Fauci, while Republicans are bidding good riddance. Some have suggested an investigation into Fauci's role in U.S.-funded research that may have played a role in COVID's origin story. As Fauci exits, new vaccines enter, Pfizer is seeking FDA authorization for Omicron-specific boosters, and Novavax's protein-based shot won emergency use authorization for 12- to 17-year-olds. The world has different priorities than God does,

and many eternally insignificant things are compelling for a season. These things may not be wrong to follow, but neither should they consume our attention. Colossians 3, 2-4 says, Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. In a new lawsuit, former President Trump has requested that a special master, not the FBI, review the documents seized in the Mar-a-Lago raid. The special master, a neutral third party and often a retired judge, was requested in this case to ensure prosecutors don't review documents that are protected by executive or attorney-client privilege. Yes, we too were disappointed it wasn't a newly revealed rank above Black Belt.

The lawsuit says the FBI is being used, quote, as a weapon for political purposes, and the DOJ tersely replied that the warrant was, quote, authorized by a federal court. So yeah, things are still tense. Meanwhile, the DOJ has until tomorrow to request redactions to the Mar-a-Lago affidavit, which the federal magistrate judge seems poised to unseal. But he acknowledged that it might be, quote, meaningless after heavy redactions. The confidence that our eternity is secure, regardless of what happens, should color our every interaction. It allows us to be loving when others are hateful, kind when others are angry, and feel peace when others are fearful. Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Three Arkansas law enforcement officers are home until further notice after cell phone videos showed them using a questionable amount of force on a suspect. In the video recorded on Sunday, two sheriff deputies and a police officer can be seen punching and kneeing 27-year-old Randall Worcester and at one point lifting his head and pushing it into the ground. The footage does not show what led to the altercation, which left Worcester charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief, terroristic threatening, first and second degree assault, and more. Arkansas Governor Hutchinson said the actions in the video are, quote, reprehensible, while reiterating that only a, quote, glimpse of the encounter was recorded. The local U.S. Attorney's Office has opened a federal civil rights investigation, the deputies have been suspended, and the police officer has been placed on

Rodman wants to advocate for the release of Greiner, the WNBA star who was sentenced to nine years in Russian prison for possession of cannabis oil. But the Biden administration, however, wishes he would stay stateside. Twitter's former head of security has blown the whistle on what he calls, quote,

egregious deficiencies related to privacy and security and, quote, deceitful and or misleading communication to shareholders. It's unrelated to, but it may further complicate Elon Musk's on-again, off-again purchase of the platform, which is going to trial in October. It's time to update the budget spreadsheet. Later today, President Biden is expected to extend the pause on federal student loan payments and forgive $10,000 in loan debt for every borrower making under $125,000 a year. Democrats have been pressuring Biden to forgive loans, while Republicans are concerned that forgiveness may exacerbate already high inflation. That's all we have for today.
