The Ricky Gervais Show / An Idiot Abroad - Xfm S2E9 (October 19, 2002)
Episode Date: September 2, 2022Series two of the podcast began on 28 February 2006. It consisted of 6 episodes with the final one released on 4 April 2006. The series saw the return of Karl's Diary and Rockbusters. A new (though ...short-lived; it was only presented in the first episode) feature was also introduced in order to replace Pilkington's "Monkey News", called "Real Monkey News", where Gervais attempts to present facts about chimpanzees which are factual and scientific. With the start of series two, the formerly free Ricky Gervais Show shifted to a pay model – and as a result the show is now classified as an audiobook. It is available through Audible and the iTunes Store with individual episodes. The reason for this addition, according to Ricky on the podcast, is because The Guardian agreed to pay for the bandwidth for 12 episodes, and any more extra episodes would have to be paid for out of their personal finances.

Doves, caught by the river on XFN, 104.9 on Richard Javais, Steve Merchant, Carl Filker and
everything.
No, I'm going to be honest with you.
Go on. A little bit hungover, I don't feel very well.
I don't know if I'm hung over or still a bit drunk, but I don't feel...
You're saying like you're still a bit drunk.
Yeah, so... But then you do every week, so... What I'm th I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I'm th th th th th. I to be to be, I'm not right on the ball.
And the other thing is I haven't had a lot of time to prepare the show today.
So I don't, and I, and I, I don't really, I don't feel, you know, 100%.
Yeah, I haven't done the, Carl.
Right. Have you finished that sentence? I don't make me laugh because it hurts as well. And the other, the other, the other, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, the other, the other, the other, I, and the other, and the other, and, the other, and, and, I, the other, and, and, the other, and, and, and, I, and, and, and, and, and, I, I, and, and, and, and, I, and, I, and, and, and, I, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, I, and, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the other, the car... Right. Have you finished that sentence?
I don't make me laugh because it hurts as well.
And the other, the other, there's another side effect to me being a little bit hungover
and, um, or drunk whatever, right?
Is that I can be annoying.
Right, yes.
Yes.
Because I just remuse myself, I sort of like turn the body off a little bit
and just poke and ah like ah like, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th, th, th, th, th, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, the, th, th, th, th, and, the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, and, and, and, and, the, th, and, the, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho., tho. And, tho. And, tho. And, tho. And, tho. And, tho. And, tho. And, the, the, the body off a little bit and just poke and ah like that and annoy people and that I want to I want to sort of like well you do the physical equivalent of freewheeling.
Yeah yeah yeah I sort of want to climb on Carl and go to sleep on him yes.
Do you know I mean they're both annoy him and it'll be comfortable yes
which is you know can't be annoying him. A quick just a little thing just to make this show a bit easier. If you'd put your hand up when you want one of us to speak, because it's not quite, I'm
not quite sure when the sentences are finished.
The hands are up.
Okay, good, good, all right.
So, okay.
Okay.
Okay, okay.
Okay.
Okay.
That, I'm, there an excuse as to why you're a bit
hung over? Too much wine. Okay. All right. That's not, yeah. Good, good. Thanks, I mean
this is the only work you've got to do all week, unless I'm very much mistaken. You
don't have to do anything. You just sit at home eating cheese. Yeah. And then occasionally you do a bit of shadow boxing. And that's thiiiiiiiiiiiiii. the the they. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that's that's thi. Yeah. that's that's that's that's that's nice. that's nice. that's nice. that's nice. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. what she tv? Is that roughly what you did this week? Yeah. So this is
only two hours you have to do anything for all week this is you have to
prepare for this. Yeah but who can plan a hangover? Who can't plan a hangover? Right. I know you'd think that. Carl they leapt into action to keep this show afloat the show the show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show show the the the the the show the the show the show the the show up the show up. the the their. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's. that's. that's. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What have you got? I love the fact that whereas I was a little bit slow,
Carl there leapt into action to keep this show afloat, keep the pace up, go on.
Right, well, uh...
Carl are you hung over as well?
I'm just a bit annoyed because I'm with you.
Do you know what? You haven't got much to do all week.
You're having a laugh? What? What ang is I kind of hope that maybe I could have
quite a long career in radio and I sort of feel like I'm, I don't know, the word sinking
ship, those words spring to mind, because it feels like, I mean, Carl, you're just a chance
or anyway, you weren't even supposed to be on air and we've made you into something of a household name and that's cool. And Ricky's already a celebrity, he's got, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I's their, I's their, I's their, I's their, I's their, I's their, I'm their, I'm their, I'm their, I'm, I'm sort, I don't, I'm sort, I'm, I'm, I'm, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, but I've got nothing, I'm running on empty, I got, you know, I'm not, nothing, I've got nothing,
you know, I'm sort of dependent a bit on this, yeah, financially and you two are sort of
bringing it down really.
Right, Carl, Carl, Carl, I'm sort of my own show Carl. Carl, Carl, Carl, Carl, tell, t, t, t, t, I. C, I. C, I. C, I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I, I. I, I, I, I. I, I'll, I'm, I'm. I'm, I'm, I'm what, I'm the the the the the the the the the the. I'm sort. I'm sort. I'm sort. I'm sort. I'm sort. I'm the the the the the the the the. I'm the. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's, I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm so, I'm so, I'm sort. I'm sort the the the the th. I'm sort th. I'm sort sort th. I'm sort sort th. I'm sort the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I'm sort there with a bit in that the minute ago. So anyway, come up right. I'm bored of this.
I'll tell you what, will we tease them with what we've got coming up next?
Yeah, he's just after the next week.
Because I think we've already got them for two hours.
We've hooked him, Carl, you were saying what's coming up?
Right, over the next two hours then, last week, it was a bit of a mess.
Don't be silly. So I've sorted it out. We'll be doing the same features.
We've got... I think that was the reason it was a mess, well,
well, uh... You've tied it up. You've tied it up, and also keeping it up, and also, and the the the to, and the the tied people people people people people people people people people people people, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the.. thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, th. thi. thi. tied it up and also keeping people for longer. Okay. Right, tell me your plans. What have you come up with you? Tell me ethos behind this
then. Always show your workings, Carl. All right then. So last week we started good sort of
play on words that we had going. Got the well-known film educating Rita. Yeah. That's become, thanks to Carl Pilking's brain. It's become. I've tweaked it a bit and now it's educating it's educating it's educating. It's educating. It's educating. It's educating. It's educating. It's educating. It's educating. It's educating. It's educating. It's educating. the the the the the the the the the the the the well. the well. the well. the the well. the well. the well. the well. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the. E. theat. theat. eth. eth. eth. eth. eth. eth. eth. eth. eth. eth. the the the the the the the the the the the the the thanks to Carl Pilkington's brain, it's become... I've tweaked it a bit and now it's educating Ricky.
Brilliant, right?
And that was a new feature we started last week if you weren't listening, where I teach
Ricky stuff.
What did you teach me?
I taught you about that, that little Chinese hairy kid.
Yeah, you didn't te fat came from. I enjoyed that. That was interesting. And a man who had a
beard, because he's being abducted for three days. Again, that was rubbish. That did that
taught me more about you than about alien abduction. But what happened last week is, we sort of
talked about it all in one go. And you can't... Where is this week you've done what you've spread it out over the show? Well I've spread it across the t........................ A, the, the, the, the, the, the, to, the, to, the, to, the, the, the, to, the, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th...... And, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, they.a, they.a.a. And, they.a. And, they. And, their, their, the the the've done what you've spread it at over the show? Well I've spread it across the two hours because I always found
that if you try to be taught too much in one go you just can't take it in
and it'll be wasted. Is that your experience of school? They taught
you in three-minute bursts. Yeah and not every day, every other when you felt like it. So that's what we's wea wea wea th. th. th. th. you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try try to be to be to be to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to're going to do, right? So we've educating Ricky
coming up, that's exciting stuff. Educating Ricky across the two hours. Okay, look toward. And what I do is,
I've made little headlines again and you decide which story you want to go for first.
Well, give me the first headline? No, no, no, no, not yet. We'll do that was a triumph. I think we went wrong there.
Why?
By letting you do it?
Doing it on air?
Uh, not thinking it through?
Yeah.
A bit of that.
Okay, so what's the rules on rockbusters?
We're going to do rock busters.
But you email in Ricky Dotch, Dovey. of round near the end of the show, right, will give out the answers then. So if they think they know the answers, they've got a hung about. Rick, I should tell you now, don't think...
I'm not hanging about. Don't think that the listeners are going to go away empty head.
I was crazy about it. I can tell office. I don't know how he got old of it
Go on. Go on like gold dust. Yeah, there's some this is the second get now. Now bear in mind
this is I don't know where he's rumagreased up from this is an ex-fm
compilation album oh yeah I don't know how he's sorted that out I don't know how he's the compilation he's he he's he he's he he's he he's he he's he he's he he's he he's he he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got he's got th so so so so so so so so so to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tot to to to tot th so so so so th hits of these. But this is possibly... Have you got a film to give away? Well, I'm glad to you've asked.
I know you're a big fan of DVDs.
Yeah, it's one of the big hot releases that everyone's team get their hands on.
Not arbitrary is it's not the only one of the film type.
This film to be an arbitrary thing that you wouldn't get, you could buy for 399 in H&V. Yeah, right? They're giving these away. One of those big baskets. Exactly. I don't know
who is phoning up to try and win this, but you can be lucky winning. If this is your
favorite film, it's yours. Exactly. But this is, yeah, this is the big star price. This the one you're all playing for. It's children of the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. tho. thoom. thoom. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. th. the. the. the. the. the. thi. the. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th King's Children of the Corn. It's a wide screen, a wide screen
presentation on DVD. Imagine getting that and going excellent. We can watch this now.
But Rick, I mean, let me just run through some of the cast. Peter Horton. Peter Horton's
in it. And that's, I'll tell you what, I don't want to give it away if Hort is in it.
I'd love to see it before and again. Also Linda Hamilton, I know you're all... Linda Hamilton, she plays a piece of corn. Exactly. And I don't know,
I don't have not seen children the corn, I could be wrong, but it says...
Carl, when you're rooting around the office, why do you start to throw in like a mouse mat and a pair of scissors and a pencil? Because that is just arbitrary. That's a that. That's a that's a that's a that's a th. A th. A th. A th. A th. I th. I's a th. I's a th. I's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to thin, thin, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the their. the their. the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. th. to th. th. to the. to to the. the. to the. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. to. to. to. to. to to to to to the. the. to is just arbitrary. That's an arbitrary selection there. That's next week's stuff.
But also I should say we also have some, this is a little bit more exciting, we've also got
some tickets for DJ Shadow who's performing at the Brixton Academy this season and he's good
DJing. He's very good DJing and scratching and the plays all the records that you want. Don't, don't, don't bring your own. He's got all all. I've seen seen the the the the the the the the the the the the th. He's very very very very very very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's very th. He's very th. He's very thee. He's very the. He's very the. He's very the. He's very the. He's very the. He's got them all. I've seen him arrive, he's got two big bags of them.
Yep. So there's three pairs of DJ Shadow tickets. We'll give those away later as well.
Don't just start phoning arbitrarily now. We'll give those away in our own good type.
Sorry? I need some lemonade. Okay. on, what's wrong?
Ryan Adams from his new album Demation, a track called Nuclear.
Yeah, I found a new way of making it more exciting when you're talking about something I'll
go, yeah, brilliant, agreeing with you.
Make it all interesting.
Yeah, yeah.
Well it's a really good album that.
Yeah. And, yeah, it's apparently just a, it's a really good album that. Yeah.
And, um, yeah, it's apparently just a collection of sort of demos and songs he had lying around.
Ah, I wish I had that.
You know, we're giving away those DVDs and Children of the Court.
I've got an interesting anecdote about the, uh, the office, Carl, Johnny and Gigi wasn't it?
Carl, I'm talking to you, wasn't it?
No, was it?
Is it important?
No, but walking on the street, Carl was there though and he can back me up on this.
We had a curry, we're walking back, and this little funny homeless fellow,
didn't he?
He, oh I got to tell it before before I go, didn't he? Yes. He came up to me, right?
And he recognized it.
Talking's more difficult than you think, right?
And he came up to me and he went, he went, oh, he said, I've just knick to find your DVDs
from HMB.
And he shook my hand.
He was so happy with it, and I went, right, excellent. He went all I do was I just swing the bag over the top like that when I'm going out and he had a bag full of DVDs didn't he?
And he was so pleased to tell me that he's stolen.
That great!
He said they're going like op cakes.
He said they're not of course they are!
Yeah you always kidding them.
We get paid for them.
So he, not them for him? I don't think you're you idiot.
So um, he just nicked five...
Yeah.
And you say he was homeless, was he?
Well, I don't know, maybe.
Surely how would he have seen the show?
He'd just walked past Curry's one morning.
Yeah, that's any idea.
See him a trainer for it, was interesting.
I don't know if he was homeless.
I tham homeless. I don't know if he was aimless, I didn't go into his home life. He shook his hand though and he's he made Carl look smart, do you know what I mean?
So uh but he wasn't he wasn't northern was he?
No he was like, do you know in the fascia with Paul Whitehouse when he did that character,
that shady character, that sady character, the spit of that, you know like a pony-tale t-t-shirt on a bit the the the spe, the spe, the spe, the the the th-thae, th-thae, th-o'er, th-o'er-o'er-o'er-o'er-o'er-o'er-o'er-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-s. Where does he sell them?
Does he go out to people and go, do you want an office DVD?
They're not nicked.
Yeah, four quid.
Yeah, exactly.
Have he stolen?
No, no, no, no, nothat you meet at 3 in the morning who just got a car
and just went out with a car.
And I'll pick people up and charge them.
I got in one once and I said to him, a guy who just pulled up, I said, I was in like East London,
I said, yeah, going to Swiss Cottage. He went, sure, hopping, he went,
do you know the way? I said, well not really know, I thought you'd know the way. You're on a cab behind. You went, oh, don't really know the way there. I said, if you've got an

He tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha the the the the the the the the the tho tho tho tho tho tho thr- thr- tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho the way tho tho the way th the way th th th th the way th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tha tha tha tha the, the, the, the, the, I the, I the, I to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the, to to the, thoooooooooooo-a tha do you know the way to count it I don't really know the way I thought you knew the
way I thought it was loot let me out you know you know yeah
exactly and that's I can I don't know I don't know who's got that sort of
time on their hands wasn't like a chance of it.
What was, what was he, what was he doing when he put that little forest gun in a, in a weedy bin?
That was, uh, that was part of the cab company thing.
They had to do like a charity event once a year and he did it one to tell you the a the their th. I'd rather not because we got a few sort of complaints about it.
Why? Why do you complains about it?
Because it's because he put a kid in a bin and it's not the thing to do.
But we could use it as a sort of sobering lesson for people.
Yeah, tell it like you, you know, don't you shouldn't do it.
Yeah, but that's how I did it last time, but people still didn't like it. All the stuff I tell you, you know, we don't take the Mickey out of people on purpose.
It's real life, isn't it? And that goes on in life.
Yeah.
We don't ever say that in hospital, do you know how I was? And laughing's good for you.
Yeah.
So, even though, but being laughed out isn't as good for you, is it?
No, but there's probably more people laughing at one person, so if you balance it out, there's
only one person who's upset and there's a bunch of people laughing.
So, it's, Jesus.
Give me an example of that.
Give me an example of like, so, you know.
Well I can't, because again, that's what I'm saying. I can't tell you the story.
Because there might be someone out there who, this person might even be listening and think,
I forgot about that and you brought it all back to me.
So I prefer to leave it, I think people know why did he put him in the bin in the first place? Because he was getting out of hand.
What was he doing though?
You see I can't explain with it.
He can't.
Don't be silly.
I prefer to leave it honestly.
What was he doing?
What was he doing?
Was he annoying my dad and the other people in the cab. Right. And he thought, how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how how I I I I I I the their. their. their. their. their. their. I'm going to be best.
So we'll leave that.
Oh God.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
How old was the kid?
Um, I'm not sure, but I mean it was a trip to sort of Blackpool.
So I'm guessing. Do you think it was one of the rides?
17? This is rubbish? 17? Oh he's quite an old lad then? So a big lad? Yeah. But let's, let's
and he picked him up? He picked him up and put him in a wheelie bin?
Every time he says it, I was like it. And then on the way back, he got him back again. Yeah he left him the him up up up up up up up up up up the the the the the the the he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he. and left the kid in the wheelie bin yeah did he yeah what was the kid
when he drove back yeah not go no because how do you get out it's tricky in it
and he wasn't a normal kid let's let's leavethen. So, uh... Is your father in prison?
I think he should be. Can I put a song on? Yeah, go on man.
Feeder, come back around, XFM, one of 4.9.
Ricky Do I, Steve Merchant, Carl, Kilgerton. I asked Carl in the week, right?
What animal would he never trust? Even if he, he got to know it and it was a pattern and everything, what animal would he never trust? What was it? Was this a wasp? Yeah.
You see the wasp? Why wouldn't you trust a wasp? I just think that all other animals, if
you get them at an early age, you can sort of make them like you. You can train
them. A wasp. Never. Is there anything you do think there's anything you could
do you do that would kind of win the favor and win the trust of a wasp? What would
you have to do do you think? What have you had it from a little grub and
yeah and you fed it is playing it's playing it marmalade? It doesn't affect it though does it? A bee dies, don't it if it does it, so it's not going to like use it willy-nilly.
That's easy for you to say.
But a wasp.
Do you think they sting arbitrarily?
They just sting for the fun of it?
They're like sort of like delinquent insects.
I think so.
Because last night, right, I mean, this is part of educating Ricky in a way, but something I learned last night was that tarantulas only
bite you if you annoy it.
They don't, they don't, do you know how people say, oh if you're in a sleeping bag living
in a jungle, a spider will get in there and not bite you. Apparently not, you've got
to really annoy it. The thing that it really hates is having its leg twisted.
It hates having his leg twisted. Right. But that's more for.... You you you you you you you you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, that what that what they they they they they's what they's what they's what they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they're, if they, if they, if they, if they, if they, if they, if they, if they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're theyisted. It hates having his leg twisted.
Right.
Yeah, but that's more for...
Is that what they said in a documentary?
No, that actually said.
Almost certainly not, Steve.
Were you watching a documentary?
No, no, no, no, I was reading it.
Oh, you're reading it.
And it was this guy...
Was it scrawed about the... Educating...
So if you don't trust the evil wasp, what animal do you trust?
What's your favourite animal?
Well, I also, right?
Supposing your mind, right, was put, your mind, got put into any animal, right?
And you've got to get from where animal right but the authorities will be looking out
for it and it's shooting you right and what you went through loads didn't
you? I was thinking about it for it must have took me about an hour so your
mind so your mind has been put into an animal yeah so it's you in this
animal thinking you've got to get to somewhere but maybe maybe your body yeah
maybe your body maybe maybe your body maybe got to get this animal to get to you so it can transfer its mind back into your body. But the government knows that I'm...
We've all had that conversation. So the government's going, Carl can't have
his own brain back. I only have it with Carl. We don't know how these
conversations go on. So yeah so you're on the way. So think about it, you think about it just for a second so let's the their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. their, their, their their, their, their, their, we' their, we' their, we' their their their all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all all. their. their, we's all. their the conversation. their, we's all. their, we's all. their, their, th. th. th. thi. thi. their, we'll all. their, we'll all. We'll all. We'll their, we're all. We'll their, we're all. We're all their, we've all their, we've all their, we've's the only one that takes my question seriously.
Your brain is in London, right?
And there's like loads of security and stuff looking out in the sky for animals
or looking on the field, seeing what's trying looking a bit suspicious?
Trying to get to your body, and they're shooting everything and killing all the animals.
What thing would you pick to get your brain to Scotland that wouldn't get caught? And I reckon that I've got the answer. A wasp?
A wasp? A wasp. A wasp? A wasp in the car. It's a nightmare? No, because a lot of people
get irritated. If it sort of, if it's sort of wanted to get a lift in a car going to
someone's driving the car. It's a nightmare. It would cause a right accident. So think of something that people wouldn't, you know.
And the clock's ticking as well.
You're taking this really very seriously, you've only got a car.
You've given this a lot of thought, haven't you?
You have.
So, uh, something with speed.
Yeah.
It's got a, something that the sort of thing you're... That's what you're going on? Yeah. And is it a creature that's native to this country?
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah it is.
I've got no idea, Carl.
Tell him.
A flea?
Tell him why.
Think about it.
Right, this flea, Thanks for clearing that up. And so it goes right we've got to get
Scotland. So it jumps on someone who's going to Houston Station. They don't know it's
there. The government can't see it.
The government can't see it. I can't see Steve. Think of that just tuned in. Now,
people get on the train, go to to Glasgow or Edinburgh wherever in Scotland it is.
It jumps off, it goes right, jumps on someone else who's going the way it needs to go, gets
there, still no one's seeing it, jumps on me, I get my brain back, government alike.
And you feel confident that your brain would fit in that of a fleas?
Well you said there was no problem with the signs of it you said you could... They'd certainly wouldn't me? No. No.
I pretty much you could downnote everything you know into a fleet.
Oh that's genius.
Yeah.
What would you rather have right?
Rollerscape feet and there's little wheels, right?
Chopsick hands, yeah? Right? Or acne? Uh, ah of hands, wheels instead of feet, yeah, right?
Or acne?
Uh, how big are the wheels?
Can I take you guys back to the old school?
Do you mind if we take it back to the old school?
Yeah, what are you going to do? What are they on? No, is that problem? Is it problem?
Going back to the old school? As long as it's vinyl shit? Indeed it? What we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we we are? What we are? What we are? What we are? What we are? What th? What are? What are? What are? What are? What are you? What are you? What are you? What are you? What are you? What are you? What are you? What? What? What are? What? What? What? What? What? What? As long as it's vinyl shit.
Indeed, slam it off.
I don't have the way.
There's a lot.
Delassol.
Yeah, old school.
Brilliant, brilliant.
Brilliant.
Brilliant.
Yeah.
Good stuff.
Carl. Look it dancing! He really is dancing there. Right. Right. So, okay, the way this works is, what would you rather be, Carl?
I teach your superheroes. Three things. A frog boy. Yeah, that you could leap, you could leap onto a house, but you had to go bla-out first and leap onto a house.
You know this frog boy. Right. And that could be useful, isn't it? That's very useful, yeah. Am Amploid where you've got your hands and microphones and you can just talk into your hand
in your whole body it's like 100 decibels and you can go, Oye, come here and people hear
you from a miles away, right? Or saddo, right? And that means that you can go out to anyone
and go all right and they just don't know, they just get fed up from a whole day.
Which of those would you prefer?
Don't answer now, I have to think about it, I don't think about it.
The frog thing, do you a lot like one or...
No, you're just you and your little Ben Sherve and everything, and they go oh look at that young child from on that
roof he's gonna follow which frog boy was here and you go blit up and they go
they go bell it up and they go it is him they don't know he's him they'll
recognize you when you're squat in they go I don't know you are and you they'll
go they'll come back and they go where's frog boy they're gonna they're Yeah, I probably have that one. Would you go with Frogboy? Okay. Okay, go on.
Right, so, uh, did that just go out?
What?
All that.
All that.
Go on, I've got, I've got.
Hey, look, Rick, Carl, I've got.
that's really planned this show.
He's really worked out.
He came in early, he was writing things down, planning it. And there's me just coming up with rubbish. You're just talking rubbish.
So, Carl, I know you've been thinking this through.
What have you got?
So educating Ricky, we did it last week.
It's where I teach you some stuff, but rather than just teach you something, a tease you.
So you want to know more, so you want to know, so, to take to take to take to take to take to to to to take to to to to to to to take to to take to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tha tho, thin information information thi information thi information tho, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho,, nearly. Coming up soon, Henry VIII is, well
how many wives, come back to Morrow, Carl, to find out.
Well, uh, well, the little, uh, headlines have got to sort of tease you with the story.
Yeah, this is going to hurt me and I'm not very well, go on. Right, we've got, uh,
so this is what, sorry, I've just got lost for a minute, there. This is educating Ricky, and these are the stories that you're, these are the things
you're going to tell him.
But these are just headline versions.
These are headlines.
Then I think people will remember things if you're right.
So, yeah, bullet points.
Who can't forget a hairy Chinese boy?
Indeed. Don't do that to it, you know it can't live without an head. I've got no idea. It could be about the French Revolution, it could be about anything.
I know what it is.
No, you think you do.
No, no, it's something I taught you. Is it the fact that cockroach is to live for nine
days without a head? That's part of it but it's something different as well. Okay brilliant. Next one, do you want that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's not. that's that's not. that's not. that's that's that's that's not. that's not. that's not. that's not. that's that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. theathea. theathea. theathea. theathea. thoooooooooom, theathea. I. Ia. I. up. Okay brilliant. So next one do you want to work it out? If only it was raining.
Brilliant. Okay and the last one what's tomato with you? What's tomato with you?
Yeah. Look how pleased he's. You're obsessed with puns aren't you at the moment, Kay? It just works, I think it works.
Yeah, we love puns.
So, there you go.
So, which are those are you going to choose, right?
Oh, well, I'm going to have to choose.
Don't do that. You know it can't live with that, hey.
Can we play a tune-.9 I'm Ricky Javais with me Steve Merchant and
Carl Pilkington.
Carl.
What's the story then?
Right, so what did you say you're going for?
You've got your three titles, you're three teasers.
Well I think I'm going to go for don't do that to it.
You know it can't do for that Ricky told me about when he was educating me was that
cockroach if he cut its head off it lives for a week. Yeah, right? And what it dies is it can't
take on water. Sure. It doesn't have a great time in that week though doesn't get much done.
It just it just needs water and because you can't find any that its eyes eventually dies. So what... No it's not that's not. It's going. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's. It's not. It's not much. It's not. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's eventually dies, you're right. So, so what... No, it's not, that's not, it's anyway. Anyway. So with, have you heard that one about worms?
Okay. All right, I've gone. If you cut a worm in half, a lot of people have said in the past that it'll turn into two worms. Right. But that isn't actually true. Okay, who said that? No, it's a way, it used that it, it's that it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, it's that, you, it's that, you that, it's that, you, you, you that, it's that, it's that, it's that, you that, you that, you that, you that, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi.. But that isn't actually true.
Okay, who said that?
No, it used to be like, you know,
kids at school said that.
Yeah, kids at school and stuff.
So, you know, a lot of people think that.
Don't pick him up on stuff, Steve, it's bad, not sure.
But what they can do, if you get a worm, right, and you find out which end its head's that, right? If you sort of
you've got its head there at the left hand side, right, and if you sort of cut it in half,
but not in half, so there's more of its neck than the tail, if you know what I mean?
Yeah. The bit that you've cut off will sort of die and the rest of the worm will get better.
So in a way you can cut it in half and it'll survive, but only one half will survive.
Okay. Yeah? What have you learned that?
I wish you hadn't chosen that one.
I know. I know. I know. Because it's not. There's nothing is it?
You know what they're a joke? I would you tell the worm's head from it so you put it in a bowl of flower and wait until it farts. Yes.
I told my mate that, right? And he went, what if it coughs? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah. So it is there is a bit of
truth in that myth of cutting one in half. Where did you get this information? I
don't understand where you get this information from? That was from the
Fotion Times. It was like the myth, the myth that was the big arc of
that week. Did it take you as long to read that by the fact that it starts off debunking a that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. that that that that that th. th. th. the of the of the of the of the of that that that thiath thiomomom? that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that the. the. the. the. th. th. the. th. th. th is is is the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the of the. the. the. the. the are is theeeeeeeeee are is theeeeeeeeeeat is theeeee. the. the. the. Did it take you as long to read that article? Because it took you to tell us just there. I like the fact that it starts off debunking a myth that we have nerd
of anyway. You know the big thing about cutting the worm in after making two worms? No. Yeah.
What's the other one? What's the thing to do either by the way? Don't go doing it. It's not very nice. It's the thing. It's the the thing. It's the the thing. It's not the thing. It's not th. It's not th. It's not th. It's not th. It's not th. It's not th. It's not thi. It's not thi. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's thi. It's not. It's the thi. It's. It's. It's. It's not. It's nice. It's cruel. It can get by. And it's pointless. Yeah. There's no scientific
worth in that. Well, there you go. Okay then. So the others now, you see what I do, now, I'll
tell you the other titles, you're not having them yet. That's the whole idea of this. People
will be driving or about to go out doing the shopping, they'll think about that, they've forgotten that. No, they've forgotten that already. If only it was raining and what's tomato with you?
I look forward on that one.
No, you've got to tell them to I with you.
Look, look, what's happening, you see?
You already want more.
And this is what I want more.
And this is what I'm doing with you. I'm teaching you. Why are you teaching me things about not to cut words enough and what's tomato with you?
Please tell me what's tomato with you, Carl?
In a bit. No, Rick, I'd say he's thought the show through, he's teasing the audience, you're excited, they're excited, they're listening. Yeah, maybe. So listen, I I I I I I, I I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th. I, I, I th. I, I, th. th. th. th. th. tom, tom. tom. tomato, tomatoe, tom. tomatoes, please tomatoes, please tomatoes, please tomatoes, please tomatoes, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, tom. tom. tom. tom. tom. tom, please, please, please, please, please, tom. tom. tom. tom, please, tom, tom, tom, tom, what, what, tom. tom. tomato, what, what, tomato, tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes, what tomatoes, please tomato all, because we got your competition to squeeze, we got all these great good goodies. Let's not forget, hello, children of the corn.
I did feel slightly guilty that, but now this is Carl Pribleton show.
I don't think we should have our names involved.
It's not fair, is it?
And I think we should give Carl, I think we'll give Carl.
I don't want my hour to start eating.
Don't you worry about that car, I've already got this one, I'm thinking on your terms now,
let's play a tune, we'll come back with the big competition information, all right?

on you know a virgin train or something? So why wouldn't it? It just wouldn't because people

the artists, right? It's always a band or an artist, it's not any TV programs and that.
So say like last week we had, we had S, didn't we? And it was better than the average homeless person, and that was Supertramp. Right? So it's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, th. their, th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. And, their, and th. And, their, their, their, the average homeless person and that was supertramp right so it's not always XFM music can be anything and there's three of them they've got
to get all three and email in it I know I know how long this intro so far
it's taken yeah but but but here we go then right first initials LR
LR LR the And the cryptic clue is, uh, I'll take it through. You should have
thought it out before you came in. Yeah, cryptic clue. You've got it. Yeah. I'll take
that book to the toilet with me. Yeah. L.R. I'll take that book to the toilet with me. Yeah. L. R. I'll take that book to the toilet with me with me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'. I'. I'. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. Yeah. Right, okay, so there's one. Right, the second one, FL. This one's actually been emailed
in as a suggestion. Okay. That person who's done that, don't email in because you're
disqualified from the comp. Uh, so. I'd love it to be a teacher. It would be great wouldn't it just to see it one day. Can't we do that?
Can't we get you a placement somewhere? To if you to teach history to sort of like you know
14 year olds. I think science would be good yeah. I'll tell you what you got a lot of
just quickly for me Carl explain say what can we get to explain that everyone learns the kid science?
Photosynthesis?
All right, so FL, right?
FL of the letters and the cryptic clue, blow the candles out before you eat the cake.
Blow the candles out before you eat the cake.
Yeah, blow the candles out before you eat the cake. The letters there, FL. We've got LR, we got FL. Yeah and finally the third one, N S.
Hold on, how many have they got to get? Three. Don't worry, there's no more after
this, right? N. S. How can I wash up in something shaped like that?
All right? That's one of mine.
So very quickly recap, just in case we've missed any.
L.R. is the first one.
L.R. I'll take that book to the toilet with me, cryptic clue.
We had F.L. blow the candles out before you eat the cake.
And the final one, NS.
How can I wash up in something shaped like that? If you think you know the bands, you're
just email in, Ricky dot Givace at XFM.co. UK, you win the DVDs, the CDs, and that's it.
Really?
Is it great, and he? I can just, I can sit here and watch him all day do this, whatever. So Ricky, Dr. Javais at Xfm. Co. Co, Kuhh-K. And we'll, th. And we'll, th. And we'll, their, their, their, th. And, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, their, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, the, the, the, their. K. K. K. K. K. K. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the we'll give the answers out just before we're finished because then we'll keep them locked.
All right.
Well, just briefly, this is module 4A, natural history.
Yeah.
Just briefly explain evolution.
Since, you know, natural selection, origin, the species, Darwin, that.
Just briefly describe. That's the species, Darwin, I'll just briefly describe.
That's the monkey thing.
Oh, well done.
Yeah, go on.
Go on.
Go on.
What, don't you?
What, do you?
Um, Rick?
I know you're always keen to rejuvenate the reputations of certain artists when you think maybe they've been kind of unfairly treated in the history of rock and rock. I'll tell you a band I've always thought this has been treated badly.
Yeah, the Lemonheads. You're with me? Yeah. Yeah. Lemonheads if I could talk I'd tell you.
Yeah. He wrote some good little tunes. Maybe before he went potty. What would you rather have, Carl, would you rather have a lemon for a head? A, band is there with something head?
Radio head. Oh you've done that. Yeah. Or a talking head.
My third one. No, but you don't know what, no, because you've got you and then you've got someone else's head on top and it doesn't shut up.
It's my head. It's my talking head coming out of your head. Yeah.
So a radio head, just a radio head, you can tune in, right? You know you said the car
that wasps were one of the most irritating things on the planet. Can I offer another suggestion?
Yeah. You're with me on that? I am. No, go then. Educating Ricky. we got two left, don't we? I'm looking forward to these. We've still got, if only it was raining.
And what's tomato with you?
The way he said it!
I tell you what, I wish that this could see how happy he was when we started getting emails
coming in.
Oh yeah, people are flooding in actually.
Yeah, and he's so happy he started dancing. bouncing along going well that proves it's a good competition is that? Look at that! Look at that mate.
There's loads of people emailing there.
And I'll tell you I'll tell you what it is, it's not the competition.
It's this, Children of the Corn, White Scorn,
next week some staples and pencils.
I'll tell you what, right?
Now we've got them and they're staying, something we've still got to do is...
He is running the show now, he's doing well, isn't he? Because I've done nothing, I've done
nothing towards this. I'm coming out of me hang over a little bit if you're worried.
So go on. Remember last week we started a new feature called, that song called, that song's got a good story. Brilliant. I love your catchy ti. A lott. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I to to to thi. I to thi. I thi. I thi. I thin thin' thin' thin' tho' tho' tho' thin' the. I've tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' the the. We've got the second half to that story this week.
So you've got half the story.
What was it?
What had happened is like the lads living in Mrs Zippy.
There's not much going on there.
Mrs Zippy?
Is that someone off Rainbow's Mum.
Yeah.
He's dad's, his man was a cleaner, try to get by, they didn't have a great life, but
they still looked after the kids and stuff.
There's more to it than that.
Have you got it ready?
There's more to it than that.
I should hope so.
We'll probably do it at about half-past.
So look forward to that the second half of Stevie to the show. This isn't a radio- listen that I'm watching the tomatoes.
This isn't a show. This isn't a radio show.
This is... I don't know what it is.
Might as well start banging tambourines.
It's ridiculous. This is rubbish. Right?
But why are you like some people emailed in,
put him in a wheelie thin, went to Blackpool!
Right? Some people emailed rolling in the stories, songs with stories, and one of them was Babushka,
and he went, what was that?
And I went, I went, what is it?
I said, oh, it's about a woman who dresses up as another woman and seduces her
husband, he meant they wouldn't work.
Just dis-nested it like that. No, I mean, say like, say like, um, right, Suzanne, right?
Who I'll go out with?
Yeah.
She can see me from, say if I'm coming down the high street, yeah, she knows it's me by the way I walk.
Right.
So, just the fact that this woman went and put a wig on, there is no-
You haven't even heard the song.
I know, but you're saying that she's a disguise on and he's like, oh I fancy her and he texts her out and he doesn't know it's his missus.
You're not buying it.
I mean I'm controlling this future.
Whereas the flea, where is the flea with your brain going to Glasgow, perfect sense.
Yeah, Babushka, rubbish. Can we have the tomato story after the next tune? Yeah. A the thak. Ccold play play play play play play play play play play play play play play play play. Ccoe. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. thin 9. Right, competition, isn't it? Uh no, it's educating Ricky part two. Oh is it?
Yeah. I wasn't even listening. He's doing all the work. I wasn't even listening. Oh and
he's put some water on that. Right. What's this one again then? Right. What's the teaser headline? teaser headline is what's? the tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. t. t. t. the t. t. t. the t. the t. t. t. the t. t. t. the t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. the. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. came up with that? You couldn't wait it coming and tell us could you? I just
said I think it's a good one because you won't forget it now will you? I mean
like the worm one. What's the special about the worm?
You know a lot of people think that if you cut a worm in half it will two worms will grow but the towellows the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the than. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. to be will will will will will will will tooombs. tooomorrow. tooomorrow. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will will. to to to to to to to to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. toe. toe. toe. toe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. too. too. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tail than the head, the tail will die but the worm with the head will be okay. So it's exploded a myth and
that taught me something. Right so the second one is part two of educating Ricky. What's
Tomato with you? What this one's about is ages ago. It's a scientific. It's never a date.
It's never a country in the location.
Okay, settle down children.
This is A-level history.
Right.
Once upon a time.
Yeah, yeah.
When a mental place with swords was a king, forget his name, but he was a loony.
So, and it was a, we're literally ages ago.
So, uh, good luck.
Good luck. and it was literally ages ago, so good luck in the exam.
All right, so like, you know, all right, many years ago.
Oh yeah, yeah, cleared that up.
They thought tomatoes were poisonous.
Right?
Okay.
Hold on, are they going to be proved wrong at the end of this story?
Because I don't want to give away the ending, but is it something to do with their...
Are they poisonous tomatoes?
No.
Oh, you're having a laugh.
I don't believe it. Go on.
Go on. What are they going to be eating tomatoes all this all this time?
Oh, Steve, what, what people thought tomatoes were poisonous. Yeah, yeah. Um, they didn't know they were poisonous then because they were still eating them, but
what was that?
Well, they're not?
But, hang on a minute.
All right.
It's like, I'm just going to listen.
Okay, I'm not going to talk.
So, if you remember, years ago, they didn't have, they. They add lead plates, right? What are you talking? What year is this?
Let's talk, come on.
Plates made out of lead and what they'd end up doing, they'd say, right, do you want a tomato?
And they go, yeah, all right.
And they'd put the tomato on the lead plate and cut it, and because of the acid in the
tomato and they say oh it's
lovely this and they'd be eating it, they'd get food poisoning, lead poisoning and what
have you and they'd be really ill. So they thought tomatoes were poisonous so they didn't
eat them for many years. And when you say to say, do you mean the people of Narnia? Yeah this did nothing about it? that? that? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? That? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi? You pretty one spot there.
Oh, I hope there's no uppity pupils at this school when they go,
what do you mean to, oh if you're gonna, I'm fed up with you.
Do you understand?
No.
So, so the answer...
No, no, no, you, okay, first of all, Carl, where do you get this information from? 14 times from? Do you know, you can't remember?
I don't know where I got that from. I don't know where I got it from.
But, but, but, why don't you think that makes sense?
But, but, but, what? Someone once got lead poisoning from a tomato?
Not just one, loads, and then. Why is this, th. What th. What th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, no, no, no, no, tho, tho, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, I. Why is this educating me? Because I'm telling you that
tomatoes. I can't take anything away from this. I don't know what to take away from this.
What have I learned? What am I learning? Don't mix lead with tomatoes? Why is this educational
in any shape or form? What are you telling me? A long time ago in the land of glunk, right, where the ninets did slib, right?
They thought tomatoes were poisonous because they ate at plates of lead.
What are you talking about?
Yeah, but we all know tomatoes aren't poisonous.
Is that what we're taking from the story?
What are you talking about, Carl? Is that what are you talking about Carl? I just I think it's a bit weird.
It's a bit weird. It's the same people that were spreading those malicious worm rumors.
My hangover was coming back. I've got to get some water. Play a record that was rubbish.
I'm eating. I'm eating. So am I? Carl you have to carry on. Um. Right. Yeah. We're all eating. Crisps. Food crisps. So. I. I. I. I I I. I I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's the the the the the the the same. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's the the the the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same. It's the same.. Um, right yeah. We're all eating.
Oh crisps.
Food crisps.
So last week, yeah, you were playing your feature, um, that song I shouldn't switch off
because I'm enjoying the story.
Yeah.
And we played living for the city only you played the single mix which doesn't have the
entire second act, if you will.
So, um, Carl, you've not heard it before. You're excited to hear the second
out because as far as you're aware there was a young guy he's living with his family
they're fairly impoverished in Mississippi but you know they're happy they're getting on
a right but you're not even aware that he's moving to the big city. No it just fades out.
Well that's the city in question. I mean I've always listened to the single version I had no idea that I didn't know the full story so yeah I mean I mean I know you your
attention to detail you'd like to know the full story like where everything
well the whole idea of the feature is to say you know you've got to
listen to the song where was the lead plate thing where was
that was like a few years back in Britain where where was it, in Britain, Britain, in Scotland. It was a problem all over the world.
They had to deal with it.
You're making it up now.
Is it something you saw in Lord of the Rings?
Yeah.
Right, so anyway, yeah.
So, light of the witch, yeah?
Go on.
So far then, what do we, what did we learn in this story?
We learned so far from Stevie that there's a young lad, he's got a family, he's fairly happy except they're very poor and they struggle to get by but they're happy they're
doing it. Anyway, he's moving to the big city. Carl, this is the bit you didn't realize.
Just play the track. Okay, here we go.
So this is halfway through the tune now.
This is, you've not heard of thi. I mean he accidentally played an episode of Kojak. I'm a mistake. We were going to play a song.
Carl, what did he make of that then?
Yeah, what's happening there then?
He was living with his family, he was fairly impoverish.
He's moved to the new city.
Right, so what's your take on it, Carl?
After hearing that, what I've worked out by it, the first's not that great living in Mississippi right so he goes I'm gonna go to New York plenty of work there they'll they'll sort of accept me
as you know and everything so he goes there and the weird thing is he's hardly
like been in New York for a second he gets on a bus all of a sudden some
cop has arresting him he's like what's going on and then he's got 10
years I mean didn't what you can't hear because the levels are quite bad. I mean I work with sound.
I can't really hear what's going on. You're criticizing Stevie Wonder, I'm sort of guessing that
he didn't pay his bus fare or something. And uh... Ten years? He got ten years for that. Like where it was or at least he got where it was. You can tell what year it is.
It's right in the mid 70s there, that funky New York 70s sound. Yeah. Yeah. You're pretty disappointed aren't you? What went on? You know, well you know, you're aware Carl that that because that shows? that. that. that. that. that's, that's, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they. the, the, their, their, their, their, their, they, they, they, they, they, they, they. they. the, they. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they. they. they. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. the the th. the the th. the the the th. the know you're aware Carl that that because that shows quite a bad image of New York is quite an intolerant city by all the accounts
there he arrested a guy but it is quite bad because that's that's one song
way you shouldn't go to New York. Killing a Georgia Rod Stewart that lad he
was doing all right in Scotland and said I'm gonna go to the big city he got done in it seems to me don't go there if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if if don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't the if you don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't you don't don't don't don't don't you don't you don't don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you you you you you you you you you you you you don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't you you you you you you you you you you you you don't you don't you you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't you don't to. to. to. to. to. th you know. to. th. th. to. th. to. th. to. th. to. to. to. that that's. to. to. to. to. you've got like problems don't think New York's the answer right Oh hold on hold on yeah

Right. There's other places. Where would you go? Sheffield? Well,
I don't know. But. But you're a little mank lad, weren't you? You're in your garden.
You had your train set, your brother blew up. There was a horse next door and you thought, oh, I want to go to London. So do what to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to their, to to to to to their, to their, their their, tho. tho. tho. to go, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, where their, where their, where their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, tho. Where, thoooooooooooooooomfe. Where, their, where their, where their, where their, where their, where their, where their, where their, the I want to go to London. So do you know what I mean? You've still, you're like
that. Yeah but you're in many ways like the fella in that song and like Georgie. No, in many
ways you are a bit like Georgie in many ways. No, I didn't get on a bus I had a car. So I
wasn't about the problem he had for a start. But I mean this I suppose there's loads of things you can look at that story that the story that story the story the story the story the story the story the story the story the story the story the story the story. the story. the story. the story. I the story. I the story. I the story. I the story. I' th. I' tho' tho' tho' tho' thi's. I'll to th. I'll th. th. th. th. thi's to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. You're the. You're the. I'l. I mean this I suppose there's loads of things you can look at that story and take out of it that's what I like about the
future right? What? So that's what you like about the feature? The feature that we're
doing? All right. That song's got a good story. If you had a time machine where
would you go? What year would you go? Probably the future? No, I don't know.
If someone could tell your future to you, you would want to know.
Straight away, you knew it.
You know, you're no hesitation.
You've thought about this, haven't you?
You've thought to yourself, if someone could reveal my future.
You've got to do one of these things, right? You know, you know, like, you know, like, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're going, you're, you're going, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're to to, you're, you're, you're, you're, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're to, you're going, to to want, to want, to want to want to want to want to want to want to want to want to want got a little fellow with Hal and he's telling you that right. Would you rather go back,
and you're going to someone's body, would you rather go back to be a donkey, donkey that's
carrying Mary to Bethlehem? You could be a Saigon prostitute in 1975, all those GIs queuing up.
Think about it? Or you could be...
Maybe Dick.
Which of those would you be? Carl. Think about it? Probably Moby Dick's the best
option, huh? What vocal we got?
Later tune car. After this we need to educate Ricky for the final time. Final time I educate Ricky.
We still got to give away these tickets to DJ Shadow and we've got to give the answers to your
magnificent competition. Oh we've only got a quarter now it's not enough time in Rick. We still got to give away these tickets to DJ Shadow and we've got to give the answers to your magnificent competition.
Oh, we've only got a quarter of now. It's not enough time in this show, it's packed.

There we are. Okay. And the final one was N-S. How can I wash up in something shaped like this?
Yeah. That was N-sink. Yeah. N-sink? N-sink? It'd be a bit...
If you had a sink, you wash up in a sink shaped like an N. You'd be like, like oh I've got everything out. Is anyone
got that? Wow, right? Well there are right answers I have to say Carl you've done

so I can't come out I'm ill. They go, you're not, you're not watching the tunnel corn. I go, no,
no, no, no, no, no. And we've learned as well that there are about five other anything else to do? Quick, Carl, what would you rather be a tree frog or a tree crab? Quick? What would you rather be?
Straightaway.
Tree frog or a tree crab?
Tree frog?
Why?
I don't know what one is.
You just said pick one, quick.
A tree frog?
What do you want to be a tree frog?
Yeah?
Okay. because I heard they've got, I was reading about them yesterday they've got 300 teeth and what they do is if they get on you right and you didn't get it off with a match
or anything it would stay there and it eats five times the amount of blood
to make it five times bigger than the size of itself.
Oh you're a scientist! And then it'll just go oh I've had enough and it falls off
naturally. What would you either be a puppy or kitten?
Ketan. Why? Just look better. Okay? Yeah.
Yeah.
Some great adverts there on XF. I enjoyed.
Absolutely. We have to give away these three pairs of three pairs. We have to give these a layer. Yeah. We've got three pairs XF1.9. Absolutely. We have to give away these three pairs. We have to give
these away, Rick. We've got three pairs of DJ shadows. I know, but this is a sallow jam-packed.
I think we've planned too much for this show. Indeed, we, I think we any questions? Sort of DJ Shadow related questions?
Any shadow or DJ questions?
Carl, any ideas there?
What does the word DJ mean?
Yeah, it's too easy.
I tell you something I do know, right?
But I can't really get a question out of it.
Go on, just tell us.
There's a shadow somewhere.
There's already good, isn't it?
No, right? There's a shadow, I think it was in America.
And it's on a quiet road.
I'm guessing somewhere like Boston, that's what you imagine.
Right? Somewhere like Boston, and people at night used to see this shadow
and they'd go, what's that? And it got known, the town, the little local town got known for this shadow but it didn't cause any problems. What are you talking
about? What are you talking about? You know like some places get famous like
Scotland's got the Loch Ness Monster and that but it doesn't cause any but it doesn't
cause any problems? Right so there's this shadow walking about... Where did you read this? Where did you see this?
This was on the internet and...
Oh, sorry!
Sorry!
I thought it was shite.
I didn't know it was on the internet.
Right, so this shadow is moving about and...
Independently, on an object.
Yeah, and the local mayor and that is like, yeah's a bit weird but it's not arming anyone. The mayor involved!
Was he elected to that post?
Hey, hey, Mayor, we got a problem down here, it seemed like a shadow.
Wow, it's not causing anybody, no it's just causing any problem.
Yeah, go on.
But that's a thing, it was left for years and then it did start causing problems. I see, that's it. If you leave these shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows shadows, the shadow, the shadow, the shadow, the shadow, the shadow, the shadow, the shadow, their their, their, their, you leave these shadows to go on Jack Rick they go crazy. You let a run amok in this day.
You've got to stand on moving shadows.
What did the shadow do?
It was pushing people off the bikes.
It was what?
It was pushing people off the bikes.
I'll find out more for that next week.
Right. Oh, you're a mania. We'll do more for that next week. Right? That'll teaser.
Oh, you're a mania.
We'll do more on that.
We haven't had time for education.
Please never have children.
Right, listen.
Just promise me now you'll never have kids.
We haven't got time now.
Okay, listen. All right.

has been running amok? Let's know. The number Carl? Ooh, oh eight, seven hundred, one, two,
three, four? So, but that's it. We are actually out of time. I was told to finish now. I know, but we've got to get finished early today. So... Why? Just because we have and we're wasting more time talking about why we have to.
Oh, this is we're pathetic. So, they call up, where did I see the ghost? And you've got
to pick the tickets up from reception, you can go tonight, see DJ Shadow. Shoddy. Rightie. This is. This is. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right.
