Starting point is 00:01:05 Product availability may vary by region. See app for details. Week 11, let's get to it. All the games in the books, except for maybe the headliner of the season with Philadelphia and Kansas City tonight. Looking at the schedule this week, may recap that one and give you an episode tomorrow
Starting point is 00:01:21 and then something else planned for later in the week. But we start with San Francisco as a Super Bowl contender. That's not news. They're the three seed in the NFC today. But after three straight losses, they destroyed Jacksonville 34-3 in the versus Tampa 27-14. They were up 27-7 in that game. And that's what I'm looking for. I'm looking for domination from a team that we know talent-wise is right there with everybody else.
Starting point is 00:01:44 I'm looking for domination from a team that we know talent-wise is right there with everybody else. But the most important thing that I think is worth reminding ourselves every year with every great team or the team that we have the highest expectations for, and when they disappoint us or we start to have a little bit of doubt, we need to always go back and look at history. Because if you look at the past Super Bowl winners, almost all of them have had a bad stretch of recent years. And sure, there's years where a team's clean throughout and three straight for San Francisco makes you question, especially with Purdy being so new to it. And you're like, wait, are they actually built to be able to do this? And I believe that they are. Go back to 22.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Kansas City was 4-2 to start the year. Their fourth win was that one-point game. Their one-point win against the Raiders, where you were kind of like, what's up with that? And they were 4-1 and they lost the next week to Buffalo. In 2021, the Rams lost three straight to go from seven and one to seven and four. In 20, Tampa lost three of four games in November. In 19, Kansas City went from four and oh to six and four.
Starting point is 00:02:39 And you're going to say, well, wait, Matt Moore was in for Mahomes in a bunch of those, but they actually won two of the games that Moore played in, two of those three. And then the Pats, who were just an 11-5 team in 2018, they lost 3-5 in December. 2017 Eagles, that's probably the cleanest team as far as year-to-year, end-to-end for a Super Bowl winner. They ended up 13-3, and that was with a week 17 loss where they essentially punted on the game with Nate Sudfeld as the starter. So that is the point. What is your ceiling? And we've seen wins from San Francisco, 23-point win, 18-point win, 19-point win, 32- and 31-point wins.
Starting point is 00:03:16 And Brock Purdy has been incredible. The offense is number two in yards per play. The defense is number six in yards per play allowed. And Purdy was near perfect the last two games. He had the perfect QB rating yesterday in that game against Tampa. They've got Debo and Trent back. He has the number one QBR in the league, the number one completion percentage in the league. And San Francisco is right there with any team, despite having a worse stretch in comparison to some of the other contenders, like the two teams that are playing tonight. Cleveland is now seven and three, and they they beat the Steelers where I think a lot of us that watch the NFL
Starting point is 00:03:48 every single week and then talk about it with no rooting interest really involved, you're going, finally, Pittsburgh lost one of these games because if they had won that one, you're like, I give up. And the weird part of the Pittsburgh math was that prior to this loss, you were wondering, are they going to end up being 8-3 because they're going to be playing against DTR and then Jake Browning in back-to-back games? Hell, they're winning games, I can't believe, against better quarterbacks. And now they're going to go up against two guys with almost no experience whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:04:14 They might end up eight and three. And then we're going to have to act like we're going to have to pretend it's like the Tebow run with Denver. We're like, they won again? And then you have to come into work on Monday going, yeah, I don't know. I mean, I almost gave up that year. I think I may have.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Like, oh, it's unquantifiable. It's just this energy about the team. And you're like, no. And this is what happens with some teams, and it's what's happened with Pittsburgh so far. So they're not going to go eight and four. And again, it's not rooting against Pittsburgh. It's just going,
Starting point is 00:04:45 I can't believe they keep winning these football games. And Tomlin deserves credit for always feeling like this team is somewhat competitive, even though we may not like the overall talent. Although they usually have a pretty good group, like good balance throughout the positional stuff that they have on the team. But when you don't have the quarterback and they haven't really had it for a while. And there's some alarming stuff happening with Pickett. He is far worse this year than he was last year. We wondered if they had a guy
Starting point is 00:05:10 and then you'd see that second-year bump based on some nice stuff from last season, but their best chance is to throw it deep on the outside, and that doesn't always work. It's funny because when you look at the aggressiveness numbers for quarterbacks, Pickett's actually among the most aggressive. It's just not really working out.
Starting point is 00:05:30 He had 106 passing yards yesterday. His fifth game with 200, excuse me, his fifth game sub 200 passing yards. And I said, he's already been much worse. And if you actually look at yards per game, just the traditional stuff, he is second to last among any of the quarterbacks who started 10 games, 172.2 yards. Last is Minshew at only 172, or excuse me, 171.1. So he's only like a yard better than him. And the other problem for the picket question for Pittsburgh is he's 25. So you wonder where this is going. It's clearly going in the wrong direction and we may not have the definitive answer, but it feels like a lot of us have that answer. Let's talk Cleveland's defense though, because this group is doing some heavy lifting. This group is special. We always like to give you a Mike Sandoe nugget from his pick six column in the athletic. I enjoy it. It's a must read every Monday morning. So of all the teams that have gone
Starting point is 00:06:18 seven and three to start a season since 2000, since the EPA numbers were tracked, expected points added, this Browns team is giving you the worst offensive performance in terms of EPA of any team that's 7-3 or better since they started tracking this thing 23 years ago. That is impressive from the defense. Awards, let's throw a couple at you here. How about the crying game award for surprise ending? Didn't expect that. Denver's win last night against Minnesota. These two teams, however, just as an aside, deserve all the credit for the guys in the locker room not quitting, the coaches for figuring out something to remain competitive both these teams with these records
Starting point is 00:07:06 you start looking at the playoff seating as of today and you're like who's hovering around where it doesn't really quite make any sense who's the seventh team getting in the nfc right so denver goes from one and five to five and five they pull this one out um the wilson to courtland sutton game winning touchdown and then they still had to get a stop in the other end. At that point, the Broncos had not scored a touchdown. They had five field goals. And the overall numbers from Wilson are cool, and the highlight, the game-winning touchdown's cool. They got that pass interference, what they should have gotten against Buffalo, but that was a pop-up throw against a zero blitz, where the throw wasn't good. The decision to get it up in the air
Starting point is 00:07:46 though was something you'd expect from Wilson who's been around this long. I don't know if the throw to Sutton was great. I think it was the math of Sutton's big and has a chance and they've started to click after I think Broncos fans being disappointed with Sutton so far and maybe they just shifted that disappointment to Judy but it feels like like he's got it going a little bit better now. But I did not expect Denver at that point without a touchdown to score to get you the six. I just didn't. So there's a movement, as I've noticed this morning with some of the coverage, and this is just what happens. It's happened even a couple of times with Zach Wilson where the Jets defense carried his ass for an entire 60 minutes where a guy will finish 13-20 with 180 yards, one touchdown, no picks. And then people start, as I said with Willie Colon the other day, we attempt to lie to ourselves about what a quarterback really is. And it's going to happen with Wilson because of the record and some of the numbers. Because look at this. You want to lie and a truth? Wilson's QB rating, which can definitely tell some lies over the years, is third in the NFL. His QBR, which tells the truth, is 19.
Starting point is 00:08:57 His QBR 50 is obviously much better than it was last year where it was in the 30s, but it's still the worst of any season that he would have had in Seattle. His seven yards per attempt is the lowest of his entire career. Now, he's been much cleaner when it comes to interceptions, only four this season, zero in the last four games. The thing is that Peyton is having him throw less. Russell Wilson attempted 32 or more passes in the first three games. He had 35 attempts last night, but it's only the second time in the last seven games where Wilson's had 30 or more attempts in a game. He's also, and this is a really telling stat according to NextGen, he's the second least aggressive quarterback in the NFL on throws. Now, the aggressiveness number is calculated by a yard
Starting point is 00:09:42 or less of separation from the receiver and the closest defender. Pickett actually has a really high aggressive rating in this. Wilson is ahead of only Daniel Jones, isn't even playing anymore. So that's telling you. And if you look at his throw chart on NextGen, and I would say just type it into X and search it and see some of the throw charts and patterns from all the different quarterbacks. It's really good stuff. And you can see it is littered with stuff at or behind the line of scrimmage. So when you're watching last night's game, figuring out like Wilson's going to have to
Starting point is 00:10:13 make some kind of throw here that he hasn't really been comfortable with this season and specifically last night's game. That's why the Sutton touchdown was even more. But he had to look at that point. He had to something goes up, wins, wins the catch despite the coverage. So a guy who has been arguably the least aggressive active quarterback in the NFL made an aggressive throw last night, but do not fall for the Wilson is back. The Wilson is, is like, he's figured some stuff out.
Starting point is 00:10:40 He's not throwing as many picks, but I just don't think Peyton's trusting him. If you look at the throw chart, What is really impressive with Denver is this defense feels sustainable. They covered it on the broadcast last night, playing some of the younger guys. Some of those vets must have just been dogs. They said, we're just going to move on from you. So maybe it's just overall a better feeling and everything feels better when you're winning. What's not sustainable, but maybe the most important factor in Denver turning things around. They have forced 12 turnovers, 12 in the last three. Defense can carry it on. I don't know how you're going to be forcing turnovers at that kind of rate consistently through the end of the season.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I'm going to go one more award here. It's the Kenny Chesney Award. Ram Seahawks. I was rooting for everyone in this game. Geno Smith gets knocked out. I didn't after we saw the or heard and saw the Aaron Donald audio when Geno was getting pass-thrown by him and he just I think he yelled like oh my god. Then to get blasted Drew Locke comes in throws a pick. Thanks dude. And then you have Stafford who gets destroyed. And when he gets crunched, you're like, is this it? Is this it? It's not it. And the Rams come back. It was a sloppy, ugly game, but I wasn't rooting against anyone. I was rooting for everyone in this one, Chesney style. Just hand me the dad hat and let me get on this set. The best win, that's going to be tonight. There's a couple of things that I could have reached and picked for in this past Sunday action, but it's going to be tonight. Whoever wins
Starting point is 00:12:10 Kansas City-Kinley, that will be the single best win of the season. If it's a close game, if it's a blowout, that'll be the most impressive thing. If we were doing college football resumes, whoever gets this one tonight. I'm not going to take away from Monday Night Football knowing how much tonight means. Worst loss, let's talk Chargers at Green Bay. The Chargers now four and six. They were trying to hang on. You're figuring they're going to Green Bay. Green Bay's offense isn't good. But the problem is, is every time an offense plays against the Chargers defense, they're awesome. The number of teams that have had their best or second best offensive output, it's almost like more than half of the Chargers' schedule so far this season. So the Chargers go up 2016, mistakes everywhere from the Chargers,
Starting point is 00:12:51 drops, including a much bigger drop we'll get to here in a second. They're up 2016 in the fourth quarter. So you're thinking, okay, Herbert's found a way to get through this, everything that's happened this season. Of course, Green Bay scores on the next possession, going 75 yards in six plays. They go up 23-20. The Chargers did get the ball back twice. And with 30 seconds left, Quentin Johnson on third down, third and six, drops a go route down the right sideline. He was open. He had a step. Was it going to be the game when he touched down? That might be assuming too much, but it certainly would have gotten them a new set of downs
Starting point is 00:13:26 and at least set up for a game-tying field goal. After watching all the mistakes, whether it was receivers or the defense where you needed them to step up following the go-ahead touchdown by the Chargers, immediately giving up one to Jordan Love, where the Packers rarely are, I think this is the second most yards they've
Starting point is 00:13:42 had in the game this season, rarely an offensive threat. Say this with me, because I know they've lost a lot of games, and I know there's nothing there since Justin Herbert's come into the league to go, that's his moment. Although I felt like his moment might have been last week, the week prior against Detroit where he scored touchdowns on five straight possessions because he knew they were going to stop Detroit. But Justin Herbert is really good.
Starting point is 00:14:02 He is really good. It's okay to say it. I know it's been popular to shift the other way, that he's not good because they don't win enough. And I have a very simple philosophy. Sometimes there are players in basketball and football, baseball is different, where the player is exceptional and it just doesn't work out. I feel the same way about coaches. I'm sure the people that really know it better than me are going to tell you this football coach at this college program is an incredible coach, but it just didn't work out. I believe that that happens, but we're not allowed to do it with NBA stars. We're not allowed to do it with NBA players or NFL quarterbacks. There's something about you
Starting point is 00:14:40 that has to be wrong. I really don't think there's anything wrong with Herbert at the position. Sure, he's going to make some mistakes. Sure, he's not Mahomes. Okay. But welcome to everybody else world when we talk about this position. The reason I'm so emphatic about this one is because this Chargers defense and special teams with Staley at the helm has been a disaster since Herbert's come in the league. And I've looked at these numbers in the past. You know, they've been there for a while, right? Since 2020, the Chargers have never finished with a combined positive defensive and special teams EPA.
Starting point is 00:15:17 So if you add up what you expect from the offense, it's a number, right? What you expect from the defense, it's a number. Special teams, it's a number, right? What you expect from the defense, it's a number. Special teams, it's a number. If you combine defense and special teams, since 2020, they've ranked 26th, 30th, 20th,
Starting point is 00:15:36 and this year, it's 29th going into the Green Bay game. So, the next time he throws a pick and they lose a game or he makes a mistake and i was at the dallas game and i thought he was bad but guys have bad games but over the course of his career herbert isn't even close to being the problem with the charges and now they lose bosa on top
Starting point is 00:15:58 everything else and they were down a couple receivers we know how talented the roster is we know the injury history from last season but he is trying to drag this team to wins every single week, and it's not happening. The other elements, all three phases, they're a one-phase team, and he's one of the best in his phase. So I don't want to hear it anymore about him being the problem or him not being really the guy. He's actually incredible, and we saw it again in the last couple of weeks. Numbers you should know. Dallas, numbers you should know. All right, since the week seven bye, if you look at play selection expectations based on game situation, how often are you going to pass here when maybe you should run? How often would you run here when maybe you should pass? We look at the first down step. That's kind of become the league now.
Starting point is 00:16:45 If your team is just handing off on first down all the time, nobody's going to like you anymore. And it actually makes sense. Throw it on first down, see where you're at, and then adjust to see if you can get some of that back on second down. A rushing attempt on first down, unless you are absolutely built for it and you love your matchup in that game feels like it's just independent. This isn't new, but the realization in some of these numbers that we're looking at. Let's talk
Starting point is 00:17:09 Dallas who won in a blowout. Since that week seven bye, Dallas has been the most pass happy team versus expectations. If you look at pass run situations, they're at 10% above expected pass situations. So all the other teams that would be going, we might not pass here, Dallas is. And they're doing it 10% more often than these numbers would project. Last number here is Detroit. 8-2. 8-2 on the season. They tried to give it away to Chicago.
Starting point is 00:17:44 That's a really important factor when we're trying to figure out the playoff stuff. 8-2. 8-2 on the season. They tried to give it away to Chicago. That's a really important factor when we're trying to figure out the playoff stuff. We know the defense for Detroit. We don't really want to talk about that all that much. But the fact that they are built offensively to get two touchdowns in one quarter is a really important fact. All these teams that we're trying to juggle and talk about, how far could they go? I think it's a really important thing.
Starting point is 00:18:06 We're like, yeah, we actually think we have an offense here and get you two touchdowns in a quarter to close the game if you need it. And Detroit proved that again. And hell, they proved it in that Chargers game as well because the defense couldn't get a stop against Herbert. So whenever I think about history, there's some droughts, and then there's Detroit. They're 8-2 for the first time since 1962.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Think about that. Like when I heard it, I went, okay, that's, I know it's bad. I know the history is bad, but it's just, it's not a Super Bowl. It's not winning the conference. It's not, it's not 14. It's 8-2. And the last time they did it was 1962. So think, there's a 71-year-old guy who's a huge Lions fan.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Because when he was five, they won the world championship, right? So he was 10. He's 71 now. He was 10 years old the last time the Lions were 8-2. That seems impossible. Let's do the college football top 12 as we wind down the regular season. I believe eight teams still alive for the playoff, which is pretty remarkable. Some of these things are going to take care of themselves.
Starting point is 00:19:21 And some of these debates could get a little tasty. All right, we start with Georgia. No shock there. are going to take care of themselves. And some of these debates could get a little tasty. All right, we start with Georgia. No shock there. In the last stretch, they beat in Florida, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. You know, I know we can go, ah, Florida isn't that good. Well, look, Florida is good enough. And there's some other teams I feel this way about.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I think A&M is like this. I think Miami is actually kind of like this, where there's enough talent on the roster where you're like, something weird could happen there. But Georgia handles them. Good battle with Mizzou, which has also occurred to Mizzou to be competitive on the road there. Destroy Ole Miss, destroy Tennessee. So that's four good weeks, in my opinion, and ended up being a tougher stretch in the schedule than maybe we thought before the season started. So average score against four ranked teams this year, 43 of 15. Carson Beck has one interception in his last month.
Starting point is 00:20:13 He's ninth in the quarterback rating stuff for college football, and he's only been sacked eight times. So they're doing a great job of protecting somebody that still feels like he's totally off the radar as a quarterback for how good he's been. And it's beyond just some of the stats. I think there's throws in there every week where I'm like, man, that's a special throw.
Starting point is 00:20:29 All right, let's go quicker. Ohio State, number two. I've had a hard time with the Ohio State stuff. It's kind of all over the place. Maybe McCourt doesn't have to be great to beat Michigan. The running game's been incredible. And if you go to FanDuel Sportsbook right now, Michigan is favored by three and a half points.
Starting point is 00:20:43 You almost feel like you have to take the points in this kind of game. I still can't believe Ohio State lost that game last season. And I am very worried about the O-line against Michigan's front. But the defense here for Ohio State, if you haven't noticed, they are locked in, giving up eight and a half points per game in the last six. The Michigan-Ohio State thing's a coin toss. I don't know how you could argue emphatically that one team deserves to be higher than the other one. I think I've moved Ohio State up just because the defensive part of it. J.J. McCard in the last couple games has only thrown for 201 yards, but in fairness to him, because I'm going to see that like, hey, is he slipping a little bit? Well, look, they only asked him to throw it eight times against Penn State. That's how little they respected Penn State's offense. They ran it, what, 30 times in a row. So they were like, we don't even need you to do anything. And that's not his fault. He throws the red zone pick. I don't care. It's his first interception
Starting point is 00:21:30 since September 16th. And Roman Wilson was out. So again, this will be about Ohio State's O-line against that front because prior, I would say earlier in the season, I'd go, no way. And then after the Penn State-Ohio State game, you're like, wait, how's Michigan,
Starting point is 00:21:46 how's Ohio State going to be in that game? But Penn State's defense really is that good. So I don't feel great about switching things around there, but it's just how I felt when I wrote out the list. So number four is Washington. Vegas knew it. They had them as a pick-em. It was really tasty.
Starting point is 00:22:00 It felt like a sucker bet. I thought about playing it. I'm like, Washington's still more talented than Oregon State, despite how much I like their toughness and their running back. And Oregon State deserves a lot of credit because that game did, when Washington's up, I'm like, ah, you kind of psyched yourself out. You didn't want to bet it because it was a pick-em. You felt like Washington should still be giving points.
Starting point is 00:22:17 But the Pennix wasn't his normal self. They had a hard time with the weather and the conditions, the gloves. We saw balls just ripping off a guy's hands. And then Oregon State found a way to fight back in this game and actually make it close. But it's still a really great win by the Huskies. So if you look at Washington's resume, Oregon at home is the only thing that prevents that from being the best single win of any team in college football this year because Texas had to go at Alabama for their win. So I've got number five, Oregon, nothing there. Florida State, I moved down. With Jordan Travis out, they're a completely different team. He has been one of those guys, despite some of
Starting point is 00:22:59 the talent at receiver and edge and the stuff you'd expect for a Florida state team. I feel like he's, he's the guy that I trusted as much as anybody late to give me something like give me a chance. You're going to be around a long time. That's part of it. But with him out, I moved him down Texas at seven, six,
Starting point is 00:23:17 three at the half of the Iowa state game. So it's another score with Texas. You're like, what the hell is going on with those guys? But really it was what they had two touchdowns callback because of penalties. They had a fumble in the red zone. So if you watch the play out in the first half, the score made a little bit more sense. And yours has actually been, I think, a little bit better than the way he's talked about. Maybe it's because of the hype and because of the recruiting that we thought he was just going to be perfect all the
Starting point is 00:23:37 way through. But if you look at the numbers, it has been a little bit better despite maybe some of the shine off of him since the Alabama game because that's been the best football. That was the best football they've played all season long. So then you've got Bama behind him. I think Bama's better than Texas. I think Oregon's better than Washington. We've been over this. I just can't do it with the rankings.
Starting point is 00:23:55 If you look at the Bama-Georgia comparison, is they're going to get ready to square off in the SEC title game after they finish up their regular season against three common opponents, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Georgia's winning by an average of 33.6 points. Bama's winning by 18.6. I'm going to put Missouri ninth, and that's where I think the cutoff is. I don't think any other of these teams, I saw some Louisville playoff hope stuff. That's just not going to happen because even when other teams take each other out, unless you have all of those teams lose all of their games, but then there's too many matchups. It's just not happening for Louisville. So I'm going to put Missouri ahead of Louisville. I just think that their wins are better than Louisville's,
Starting point is 00:24:31 K-State, Tennessee, and their losses are better, Pitt versus losing Georgia or LSU, despite the extra loss. To me, it's not standings, it's rankings. And that was a good win by Louisville, who I have 10th at Miami. Miami, like I said about the Florida thing at the top of Georgia, Miami's good enough at times. You're like, you know, you got to actually kind of show up and play here. But they also make impossibly dumb mistakes. They just do so many things throughout the course of a game where you're starting to feel good about them. Like, hey, they showed up to play. The corners get screwed up on trading off coverage. There's another play where the guys
Starting point is 00:25:05 slammed into each other. That was kind of a mess. This isn't the Miami segment, but I've got Louisville 10. Number 11, I'll go Ole Miss. I cannot believe the coaches in AP have Penn State ahead of Ole Miss. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. As much as I try to leave Penn State out, I can't with that defense that I still love five or six of their guys, even though I think nothing of their offense or their resume. There's your college football top 12. So let's get to it, man. The Jordan Travis injury is brutal. I saw one guy post a video that said, hope it's not as bad as it looks like you hope it's not as bad as people were like you were like duh it's bad like I think he was saying like he was worried like he might not be able to walk like it was that bad you know so I think he was trying to say like that because yeah it was one of the it's like the worst injury you can face like from a visual perspective I mean it just looks horrific and yeah you've played you've seen it a lot it wasn't it wasn. It wasn't Bud. It was a different one.
Starting point is 00:26:28 So, no, I like Bud's stuff that I've seen, I've come across. But you guys really hit it off. Is he like, does he hate the SEC too? I forget. Come on, because we're FSU boys. He doesn't hate the SEC, but he has a very realistic perspective, just like I do on the SEC. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:26:44 We have a lot to get to here. And I just want to let it fly. The Florida State thing sucks. I put Jordan Travis in this category of quarterbacks. As I said when I was doing my top 12, late in the game, you kind of need your quarterback to save your ass somehow. I think he's on a short list of guys
Starting point is 00:27:00 to be able to do that. There's talent everywhere. People can get a little nitpicky because we have so many options. It feels like there's eight teams that are still alive who playoff invite for all this. But now what? And how worried are you about the committee already ranking Florida State lower as I did, projecting what they'll be like without Travis, knowing it feels a little unfair, but also what they're likely to do. So I think already Florida State was going to drop. Like if Jordan Travis had thrown for 500 yards and five touchdowns against North Alabama,
Starting point is 00:27:30 you still had to appreciate what Washington did on the road in Corvallis. So I think no matter what happened, Florida State was going to drop to five as it was. So then you throw in this into the mix. I still think Florida State will come in at five and as far as it goes with where does the future hold for them I still think there is zero question if Florida State wins out on the road in Gainesville they're a touchdown favorite it's probably nine and a half
Starting point is 00:27:56 it was probably a two and a half three point swing with Jordan Travis getting hurt so they're a touchdown favorite probably would have been around nine and a half ten and then they play a Louisville team who is going to be top 15 probably worst case if they lose to kentucky which they're again they're a pretty heavy favorite against kentucky at home they might be a top eight top seven opponent depends on you know what happens ahead of them i think florida state's in like no matter what happens and i also think tate rodemaker
Starting point is 00:28:23 you know i've you know been pretty close to the program, went up to their spring practice a couple years ago. He's a quarterback who's really, he's talented, but we just haven't seen him do it. And granted, it is nowhere near getting the leadership and intangibles you get with Jordan Travis, but I don't think you can dock a team based on what you think their quarterback can or can't do you have to go with
Starting point is 00:28:46 what he does and if he wins out i think florida state is an undefeated acc champ is in do you disagree with that you said no i mean i we i could do scenarios because we have so many things that are still open here so i want to just throw a bunch around and i obviously want your thoughts on michigan and ohio state at some point but if ge if Georgia's clean at 13 and 0, and I feel like this month was really impressive from Georgia because it wasn't just they beat four good teams, three that were ranked. I would throw Florida in there where it's a disappointing season. The Billy Napier stuff already is like, wow, is this actually going to happen this quickly? But I think you'd agree with me that you still have to show up to beat Florida.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Oh, yeah. I'm terrified of that game because I think Florida is going to want to do everything. Even Florida last week against Missouri, they showed up to compete against Mizzou. I guarantee you they're going to be fired up to compete against Florida State in a rivalry game. I think this will be a good test for Florida State. It's not a resume builder. It's not one that people are going to be talking about as, oh, that was a signature win. I still think it'll be a good win kind of like it was against miami like miami i think people like downgraded that but miami still has a lot of athletes i think just like florida does but now they don't have either so that that'll probably hurt as well like they don't have graham mertz
Starting point is 00:29:57 either who's been great okay and i'm glad you said that about miami because like this is the difference between trying to watch as much as you can or you know versus just watching your team but I look at Miami and Florida as is very similar like you can look at the record you can talk about how big of a disappointment is and I'm not going to argue with you but if you're not ready to play there's there's enough talent there where you're like those those games shouldn't be easy despite Georgia having no issue with it whatsoever. So I'm worried about Florida State without Travis in this game, clearly the Mertz thing. And I don't know if Florida is incredibly disappointed after what happened to them against Missouri, giving up the fourth and 17, but I couldn't
Starting point is 00:30:38 believe that spread. It was nine and a half, it was 10 and a half. And then day of Vegas, I was looking at the board. I'm like, dude, that's gone to 13 and a half. It was 10 and a half. And then day of in Vegas, I was looking at the board. I'm like, dude, that's gone to 13 and a half. That just feels like a ton of points for them. So anyway, the point is this. If Georgia's clean at 13 and 0, let's get through the conference championship game scenarios. Georgia's clean at 13 and 0. They beat Bama. You figure the second loss, Bama will be out of
Starting point is 00:30:57 there. Washington, let's say 13 and 0. They beat Oregon. I would pick Oregon against it. Arizona is still sneaking around, though, still alive in this thing, which was kind of shocking if you look at some of the tiebreaker scenarios. Michigan at 13-0. You think Florida State's in 13-0 without Travis
Starting point is 00:31:14 with a win against Louisville, as opposed to Texas at 12-1 with the Bama win? You think they would just go, hey, look, they're still 13-0? I think that's the easiest scenario probably for Florida State to get in because Bama would be eliminated with their second loss. Texas. Oregon.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Oregon. So you had Oregon winning. No, no, no. I jumped you, but I was agreeing with you. Just going through the easiest scenario. Bama's out with a second loss. Oregon loses the rematch, second loss. Now you're getting teams out of their way here. Right.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Unless, I mean, unless the committee of Michigan won a close one and wanted to do something weird with Ohio State, going, look, they beat Notre Dame. But to get into Notre Dame
Starting point is 00:31:57 with their three losses now, that's not going to feel like, hey, you beat an 11-1 Notre Dame team. But keep going. I jumped you. Right. No, so I also think,
Starting point is 00:32:04 and I'm glad you brought that up because I think the Notre Dame win it's I, and I hate kind of how this is how we have to do this because wins, you know, they, I think we talked about this last time, like wins look differently at the end. Like Clemson looked like it was going to be, oh, that's not a great win for Florida state. Look how Clemson's falling apart. And then all of a sudden Clemson starts winning. They've won three games in a row. They beat Notre Dame and they could beat South Carolina finished eight finish 8-4. So that's a pretty good win. I saw David Hale of ESPN put out a stat last week. I don't know if it still holds true, but he had Florida State as the team 5-0 versus Power 5 teams with a winning record.
Starting point is 00:32:40 That was more than anybody else. Washington was second with 4-0. So they're probably 5-0. So they're probably in the same boat right now. So Florida State's resume, I don't think it's as bad as people think. And especially, you've got to consider and you have to give them credit, I think, for scheduling LSU and for beating LSU the way they did in that first game of the season. And then for having
Starting point is 00:33:00 a non-conference, which does include Florida as well, which happens every year. I think their entirety of their schedule, their resume stacks up as good as anybody's that's out there. Yeah, there's always some chicanery when you start looking at different arguments about teams. That's why, in a way, even though I hate the expansion to 12, I can't wait for a team that's in that 12, 13, 14 range next year. And then their coach goes on the TV show before the rankings come out and is like, we have four top 60 wins. Our special team coverage units were like 30th in the country. So we did some
Starting point is 00:33:38 really good things this year. I'm with you on the LSU one. I hate when a team is 10 and two and we're like, that's a good win. And then if a team had a tougher schedule and they're nine and three, you're like, ah, LSU isn't that good. I love that Florida State scheduled that game. I love the programs that will always schedule somebody. You know, Oklahoma used to always schedule somebody. Uh, Ohio State scheduled somebody. Ohio State scheduled somebody. Bama scheduled somebody.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Texas obviously playing with them there. You look at some of the, you know, SCs had a massively disappointing season, but you look at their schedules sometimes, you're like, why do you want to keep playing this many teams? But I don't think the committee, I don't think the AP, the coaches certainly. Like when I looked at Missouri dropping as much as they did after the Georgia loss, I go, what'd you think was going to happen? They went into Georgia, they went into number one, they lost. Now you're going to drop them this much? So that stuff can be frustrating. I agree with you that the LSU win non-conference or resume thing, it's no worse
Starting point is 00:34:41 than, I don't know, is it a top five resume thing? It's certainly in the top 10. I'd argue maybe it's no worse than, I don't know, is it a top five resume thing? It's certainly in the top 10. I'd argue maybe it's in top five. Because look, LSU's defense stinks, and they fell apart. But they're not bad. It's not a bad, like, you still have to beat Jane Daniels, and they dominated in the second half. Yeah, and they were healthier than they were against Bama. Like, Bama, the entire secondary was wiped out.
Starting point is 00:35:08 They didn't have, what's the big defensive lineman that was there for Florida State? I forget what his name is. But they were like a full complement of people. And I would say Florida State defended Jaden Daniels maybe better than anybody in the country. You know, and at the time, you're right. Everyone was like, this might be the best one of the season.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Beating them by three touchdowns was like, wow. And then it just completely gets diminished and we forget and forget and forget. And then you've got Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit saying, I don't know what if they're undefeated, they might get left out. Like, it just blows my mind how quickly you can forget resume builders and they change into as just another win but i because i'm with you on that one so how about this bama wins the sec title game they're 12 and one so that puts georgia at 12 and one oregon beats washington they're 12 and one texas wins
Starting point is 00:35:59 the big 12 at 12 and one then you've got undefeated Big Ten. You can have it be Michigan or Ohio State. I can't imagine Iowa beating either of them. And then 13-0 Florida State. Who gets in? I think that was the scenario that old Kirk and Des were in on game day. I think it's
Starting point is 00:36:20 not easy. But I think Bama's got to be in. SEC champ is not getting left easy but I think Bama's got to be in SEC champ is not getting left out I think you said Oregon wins right? Oregon's Pac-12 champ
Starting point is 00:36:34 I think they're in Big Ten champ is in locked because they'll be undefeated and then you have Florida State, Texas at home, Georgia at home, watching. I don't know, man. I know. I don't know if they would do that.
Starting point is 00:37:00 But so which one do you think would be the hardest? Do you think it's leaving Georgia out, who's the back-to-back national champion, who's got a bunch of wins here coming down the stretch? You know, is it... Because I think the Bama-Texas head-to-head, I would fight tooth and nail for saying Texas is in, but I just know they would not leave the SEC champion out. That's just not happening.
Starting point is 00:37:22 There's no way. I think you have a better chance of two from the SEC getting in with that scenario than you would, and it will certainly two more so than all of them being left out. It's just, would you be, is it only because of the head-to-head? Do you think Texas is better than Alabama now? Because whenever you look at the origin of the committee, they made it really simple. As I remind of the committee, they made it really simple.
Starting point is 00:37:46 As I remind everybody every year, they made it very vague. Like, we are selecting the four best teams, who they think the four best are the rest of the way. And again, like, there's a couple times with, like, Bama with the two losses last year. It was like, hey, I don't care how good you think you are. Like, eventually these losses have to mean something. I would have a hard time with the Bama-Texas one.
Starting point is 00:38:03 I just can't imagine leaving the SEC champ out despite the head-to-head with Texas. It would drive me nuts. I would hate it for Texas because like we were just talking about scheduling, like what are we doing? Texas would have been better. If this happens, Texas would have been better off playing an FCS opponent that week, you know, like, and just going, trying to go, trying to run the table and be healthy for their game against Oklahoma and not worry about it. But I could see the committee talking about where you're, cause they have the four criteria and they can kind of twist them. And they can say, well, conference champions matters more than head to head. And that game was way back in week two and look at how far Jalen Milrow has come. That was his, you know, first or second start of the year, and they've been getting
Starting point is 00:38:45 better and better. Meanwhile, Texas has been hurt, and Quinn Ewers hasn't looked the same. They can finagle it any way they want to, but I would be more worried about Texas getting left out with one loss than Florida State being left out with none. Do you think there'd be an Oregon argument? Because if you look at the Oregon wins, now granted, we'd be giving them a Washington win in there. Like Oregon is an example of when you start putting up those resumes next to each other and looking at it right now and you go, okay, so Colorado was ranked when they destroyed in 42-6.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Colorado's been a mess. They lose to Washington. They beat Utah, housed them at their place when Utah was 13th. And now Utah, despite what we saw against SC feeling like they had figured out something offensively, Utah's lost three of their last four. So they were 26th in the AP. AP, you can look at Oregon if you want to and go, oh, well, actually, that resume isn't really all that great. I don't know. But they'll have had Oregon State. They might be. So then maybe they, because I do think in the end, maybe that is the debate.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Maybe it's Oregon versus Florida State. And they're vying for the four spot. Because then you can dodge the Bama-Texas optics and say, you know, Bama's in, SEC champ is in, Texas is in because they're a one-loss Big 12 champ and they own that head-to-head. You could potentially see a rematch, what I think you definitely would be down for. I think everyone would like to see that, especially Bama fans, and then you could possibly dock Oregon for their resume. Okay, but the thing I should have said as I was going through it,
Starting point is 00:40:27 I'll see that graphic now. Okay, hey, here are your wins, but people will put up top 25 wins. It's like when they were ranked or who is ranked now, and who is ranked now is more impressive. But then at the same time, I know there's games where it was two ranked teams, and I go, that team was good two months ago. And now they've fallen apart. So that should still count as a ranked win, even if they're outside of 20. But like, I'll change it based on what I think I've seen from a team there.
Starting point is 00:40:53 Oregon, though, when I watched them, I'd pick them against any team in college football other than Georgia. I would. So they'll also, if we're projecting 12 and one, they're going to have two awesome wins. They're going to have a win against number 11, Oregon state. And then again, depending on where Washington is,
Starting point is 00:41:09 as they finish it up with Washington state, you know, we're talking about the 15. So they're, they're going to have like two top 11 wins if they were to stay clean and win the whole thing again. So everything we're talking about and trying to project and knock and the resume,
Starting point is 00:41:22 like it's going to be the best stretch of their resume if they were able to pull that off. So they're not going to be left out in what is the second best conference in college football this year. Maybe the best. Yeah. See, that's where I hope all this, because I get as fun to have these scenarios and you know how I've always felt like you can't, like it's designed to screw over one champion, like in a power five conference champion. I really in a Power Five conference champion, I really hope one of these teams does lose on the way out so that one of these, like, these kids on these teams
Starting point is 00:41:51 are going to be devastated if they're left out. But that's besides the point. So it goes back, too, because I was just thinking about this as we watched Washington go, as an underdog, into Corvallis and get a win. For whatever reason, I'm not that comfortable with just writing off Washington. They did beat Oregon, and I know it was in Seattle.
Starting point is 00:42:11 I know Oregon had four downs. They were 0 for 3. Could have completely changed the complexion if they just took points or decided to punt it deep late. But I almost feel like we're writing off Washington at this point. And the look ahead line, I think Washington is this touchdown underdog versus Oregon
Starting point is 00:42:25 because I see everything you have, the dominance that they've had. But I still think Washington is a team we potentially could be sleeping on. As a Pac-12 champ, like to run the table. Yeah, look, I think it's been disrespectful for me to be like penciling in Oregon at 12-1 because it's still football, right?
Starting point is 00:42:41 But I've watched each game from those teams since that game, and I know what the score is. I know what happened. We've covered it. Awesome win by Washington. And if it were not at home, maybe the single best resume game, but I'm just giving Texas more credit because they beat Bama
Starting point is 00:43:01 and Tuscaloosa on a Saturday night. So having said all those things, when I look at the Utah games and how Oregon handled it on the road versus what Washington did at home, I think Oregon's playing better than them despite the head-to-head loss with all that. There's no question they're the more balanced team. Washington's defense has been a liability.
Starting point is 00:43:20 That was actually the thing that was most impressive about them on the road, was their defense stepped up in a game and was able to kind of keep a minute when it was nasty conditions and they couldn't throw it all over the yard. So your biggest take on all this is that Florida State at 13-0 will be in over a 12-1 Georgia, a 12-1 Oregon,
Starting point is 00:43:49 and you think it could come down to Texas 12-1 versus Florida State for the last spot? It could. I think Florida State's a lock. I will stake my reputation on that based on we've never seen an undefeated Power Five left out. And if they use... See, because I'm curious to know what they would say
Starting point is 00:44:14 because they haven't ever used it. In fact, it worked the opposite way with Ohio State when we saw Cardale Jones as the third-string quarterback take Ohio State to a national championship in 2014. Like, it would be unprecedented for them to say, Jones is the third string quarterback take Ohio state to a national championship in 2014. Like we've never, like it would be unprecedented for say, for them to say, well,
Starting point is 00:44:29 it's not the same team. We saw them. And even if Roderick maker goes and throws a couple of picks and they, they win ugly in both of those games. I can't believe we would live in a world where they would say, well, we don't think they're as good now because Jordan Travis isn't out there. Cause I think that's incredibly unfair and un like in the spirit of
Starting point is 00:44:50 competition and fairness. I just don't think it'll happen. I also think we'll get the help we need. I mean, you know, I saw it. There's a lot of football left. We are dwindling down towards the end of the season,
Starting point is 00:45:00 but I also think we'll see much more competitive, you know, um, conference championship games. Like we also think we'll see much more competitive, you know, um, conference championship games. Like we, since we've done away with divisions, we're more likely to get those upsets and maybe it's Florida state. Like maybe it is Florida state who gets beat by Louisville and it'll take
Starting point is 00:45:16 care of itself so that we don't have that debate. But, and I think that's a great thing too, because we used to get these, you know, two and three touchdown favorites when we had divisions and we'll still get that in the big Ten championship game, but I still think you'll get the help you need to make this picture clear.
Starting point is 00:45:32 You don't think Louisville beating Florida State would be a shock though, right? No, I don't. We're talking about a guy who hasn't started yet. We don't know what he's capable of. And, you know, I gave the best example is Cardale Jones, the worst examples, and there's many of them. And I know it was during the game, but remember when Texas lost Colt McCoy, you know, in comes Garrett Gilbert, who was an uber talented player that that offense was a shell of themselves and they were not the same. And there's been other teams whose seasons have been derailed from a backup,
Starting point is 00:46:06 you know, a starting quarterback get knocked out of the game. So we don't know what it's going to look like yet, but I do. I, and I think the thing we forget too, is he's got a incredible cast of characters, similar to what Cardell Jones had.
Starting point is 00:46:20 He had a lot, he had a Zeke in the backfield. He had NFL receivers on the outside. That's what Tate Rodemaker still has. He still got Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson. And you know, he had a Zeke in the backfield. He had NFL receivers on the outside. That's what Tate Rodemaker still has. He's still got Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, and he's got incredible talent around him. And the defense has gotten better. But it would not be a shock if Louisville wins. So what, you haven't given me a Louisville one loss ACC champ scenario. I haven't. Because then they would say, well, wait a minute, Louisville beat loss ACC champ scenario? I haven't.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Because then they would say, well, wait a minute, Louisville beat Florida State, but Travis wasn't there. I just don't know how there'd be enough landmines for all the stuff in front of them. Ohio State beats Michigan, and then Iowa beats Ohio State, and the Big Ten's left out. Although, I don't know know maybe you would start tweeting about how iowa deserves a chance again uh you know bama bama wins against georgia but then texas blows out their big 12 opponent and it's like you know what is it the other thing you always need to
Starting point is 00:47:19 remind yourself of like we think we know how it will feel today, but people may just feel different in two weeks. Right. And that room will feel different. And another thing you said too, like, hey, they've never left out a 13-0 Power Five chance, so that speaks to Florida State. But you can only look at what the history has been in comparison to what their options were for this year.
Starting point is 00:47:41 And the depth this late in the season, I think is fairly unprecedented. I'd have to go back and look at all of it again. And the fact that the playoff history is, we're not even, what, a decade into this? So it's not like they've had this system for 40 years and you can say a power five, 13 and 0 team conference champ has never been left out of the playoff. It was designed to do just that. At its inception, there was a scenario that that could have happened every single year if you had a fifth undefeated conference champ, which is really hard to do. I just wonder, the Georgia part, if they were to lose, the Bama-Texas thing,
Starting point is 00:48:22 if Washington is clean or Oregon is 12-1, I think that team has to get in with the depth at the top half of the Pac-12 and how good I just think. I just think even the teams with not great records, those are still tough games. I guess I'm adamant of the undefeated Big Ten team, the winner of the Pac-12. I think Florida State should be rooting for Georgia to get rid of Bama.
Starting point is 00:48:50 So clearly they're rooting for whoever plays Texas. Um, we can sit there and say they're rooting for Oregon to take out Washington, but I just think the pack 12 has to be in there. Um, cause the 13 and Oh Washington is in over 13 and Oh Florida State, which I think we'd agree, right? Yeah, I think so. I think it would be there.
Starting point is 00:49:12 I do think, I just really, I believe it'll work out. I believe that'll happen. But maybe I'm being foolish. If Florida State is left out and they're undefeated uh where do you want me to send the florida state national championship shirt do you want me to send it to your manhattan beach address do you want to try to pick it up in person because if they win their bowl game and not having a chance to play for the national title what would prevent them from claiming it nothing right i mean we've seen hey we've crowned other teams national champs before they would have had
Starting point is 00:49:46 way lighter of a schedule other teams and they were playing a new year six you know yeah but you only like ucf because it was an sec dig which i try to explain to people they're like why would he why would he be a florida state guy being this excited uh and i was like, well, because he just likes to mess with the SEC. Do you regret tweeting Alabama's days pretending for championships are over? No, I think they are. What are you talking about? I think Georgia is going to beat them in the SEC championship. I don't think they're making the playoffs this year. That's one of the scenarios I think we'll see settle out.
Starting point is 00:50:26 I am not sold. I'm not sold on this. Wait, do you think being 11-1 in competing in the SEC championship game is not actually technically still being alive, contending for the national championship discussion? That's where you draw the line. Is being 11-1 in the SEC title game. You're like, not good enough.
Starting point is 00:50:46 Well, not by their standards. Their fans are probably ready to run off Saban. They're ready to go. There can only be one dynasty in college football, and that's Georgia. Yeah, but that's not what you said. You said that it was basically like 7-5, buckle up, son. I did not. I said they would have two losses or more and if they lose again
Starting point is 00:51:10 they will have two losses on the season yeah but it was a forever statement you were like it's over it's done they're not competing for championships anymore and i felt that was a little quick it might have been it wasn't as quick as clatt as joel clatt was who made it about six years ago wait wait wait when he when he completely dismissed them after the big 10 championship game yes i think that was it but i i do uh so i so to be fair i didn't think they would be in the national championship hunt this season when we go to 12 all bets are off because think they would be in the national championship hunt this season. When we go to 12, all bets are off because then they could be nine and three, 10 and two,
Starting point is 00:51:47 and they're going to get in. And as we've seen with the talent they've got, as long as they got a chance, they can be, they can get in like that. So that tweet, honestly, it makes the tweet even worse because they're going to be in the playoff next
Starting point is 00:52:01 year with potentially the most disappointing season since 2010. So, uh, I just, I felt like it was very final. It was very, it, to be in the playoff next year with potentially the most disappointing season since 2010 so uh i just i felt like it was very final it felt very fine mom ish talking about a coach where it's just coach fill in the blank be like this guy sucks get him out of there usually good for two of those a year i would never say that nick saban sucks and he should be out of there. That's not what I said. I thought after, by the way. The tweet had the finality of the Saban-Bama run is over. And now they're in the SEC championship game is the point that I made. Right.
Starting point is 00:52:38 So if they win the national title, you can rub that tweet in my face. If they lose to Georgia by two touchdowns, I get to dunk on you then. That's how it works. No, no, no. They have to no longer compete for a playoff spot from now moving forward. And to me, being in the SEC title game means they're actually in contention for it. Maybe I have to go back and read the tweet. I was just so shocked when you credited the SEC for hiding their cheating and becoming the dominant force they've been in the last 30 years that you actually indirectly admitted you accepted that it was the dominant conference. So while you were sort of complimenting them, but not really, you were accusing them of cheating. You then confessed that what you did is you confessed that you actually, this thing you've been arguing, you're admitting is true. So that was a real, that was a mind pretzel.
Starting point is 00:53:31 So you just used, you said, accused them of cheating. Like now you sound like Desmond Howard defending Michigan by saying alleged scandal. We don't have to say they were accused of cheating. We know they were for the past 25 years. They built up this powerhouse, which was one of the best power five conferences in college football with many nipping at their heels. But that was a genius move for them to do, because that was the one thing I do agree with, that you would have never seen Greg Sankey or Mike's live suspend Nick Saban in the middle of a national championship run. We know we would never have seen that. Let's talk a little Ohio State Big Ten, Michigan stuff here. I saw a tweet that you felt as if J.J. McCarthy, perhaps a little different now without all the hand signals. Explain what you were trying to say. Explain what you were trying to say from him as we get ready for this weekend. So I'm worried about J.J. McCarthy. I'm worried about where his headspace is now.
Starting point is 00:54:33 I thought when they benched Cade McNamara, when they sent him packing, he transfers to Iowa and Jim Harbaugh says, we're going to go to J.J., that he was going to be that quarterback to take him to the next level. And then this season, early on, he's in the frontrunner for the Heisman. He's putting up stats that are incredible. He looks the part. And then really since the last several weeks, he has not played the same.
Starting point is 00:54:58 It started with Penn State. They ran it 30 times in the second half. I think he was, what, 6 of 7 for 87 yards. 7 of 8. He didn't have to pass though. That to me, that's not on him. That those numbers are not on him whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:55:10 Correct. Those aren't on him. Uh, the Maryland game is on him where I do think he did not play great. And granted, he can have a bad game. but so I'm watching this unfold as he's not playing great and they're not throwing with him in there when they could have.
Starting point is 00:55:26 And I'm thinking some people, including myself, are wondering if you don't have the advantage now of knowing the other team's signals. So you don't have these perfect plays. So we've got three pretty obvious scenarios where they don't know against their best competition. One going back to TCU, who said they did know their signals and they changed him up and he had two pick sixes in that game or else they really would have
Starting point is 00:55:49 won that game. Like he, he brought them back and credit to him for coming back in that game. But the two pick sixes were really, you know, costly interception. You give the other team 14 points. You're not going to win many times.
Starting point is 00:55:59 And then against Maryland, he wasn't great too. He had one interception, the throw before the interception should have been picked off as well. And he missed a wide open receiver. I just wonder where his confidence level is. And I wonder if all of this is starting to catch up with him. arm to get it in there. And I was like, okay. Because I have not, going back to last year, I did not buy in him to the way that I would the tier one quarterbacks in college
Starting point is 00:56:29 football. And I felt like he was being sold to us that way. But I think when I see the Penn State game get lumped into him going in the wrong direction, I think it's totally unfair to him. Because they just knew, like, we don't even have to do that. Alright, last thing before we let you leave here. What might be even more unfair is he might be banged up like that's the other thing he could be dealing with something because
Starting point is 00:56:48 i do know some michigan fans were like no no he's banged up he's got something going on so that could be it as well dude banged up love it none of us ever know just say that's banged up man last thing here how likely would you be though if you were a college kid going back to college age, Kanell, how hard would you be rocking the free Harbaugh t-shirt? too, like Post Malone on my face just to get it for the clout. I would have been going to the mall, to the little station they have where you can get the embroidery
Starting point is 00:57:31 for free. You can go do that. I would have been at the mall, first one in line. Because I don't know. They at least got them better made. The first suspension earlier in the season, those look homemade. These ones now, I think they got out ahead of it, or maybe they were left over from the first suspension but they're actually much better done although i did see a tape number on there number one like they had to like tape them
Starting point is 00:57:53 on yeah i would have had that you could even go farther i will you want to take how's this for a take and this might lump jj mccarthy in because this is some this is a trend i'm not loving when was the last great quarterback you saw who loved to do all the face paint with the eye black Jackson Dart need I say more I just love that Harbaugh like the recent footage he looks like Stephen Root playing a 1930s booster like these outfits as he gets older. You're like, you're just, you're going for it. You're like, these glasses make me look too young.
Starting point is 00:58:33 He is, uh, he is one unique bird. Do you think he knew? There's no way he didn't know. There's no way. I don't want to hear. And look, I like him. I don't care about most of this. I think they went a little too far. I don't want to hear from Michigan fans. I like him. I don't care about most of this. I think they went a little too far.
Starting point is 00:58:47 I don't want to hear from Michigan fans. I actually don't want to hear from Ohio State fans on any of this stuff. But he may not have known of the conspiracy. But do you think Harbaugh was like, who's this fucking guy? He's pretty good. They were disguised it. And he knew. So he may not have known the depth of it all.
Starting point is 00:59:17 And there's always some insulation with a head coach and what the staff is doing. It's just the way business has been done for decades. It was always the thing in college basketball where it's like all the assistants get fired because something goes wrong and the head coach could just, but I don't know that all of a sudden he was like, oh, that guy, who's he? And look, they took the punishment, by the way, too. That's the other thing is they accepted it, which again, sometimes the plea is the right move and you still feel like you're innocent and all that stuff. So that brings up a whole other level of the debate. I'll just tell you that I'm not like super worked up about it, but I know people are making fun of the Michigan guys for wearing the free Harbaugh stuff. And I'm like, they're college kids and that's their coach and they love them. So they're going to put the t-shirt on because somebody made them. And there you go. It's not that hard to figure out. It's the same as him claiming it's America's team. Like that's what you should like inside that locker room. It's us against the world. Like, Hey, everyone's trying
Starting point is 00:59:57 to screw us over. Cause I don't think the players knew had any idea, but I give, I give Harbaugh a sliver of a, of a chance that he didn't know the extent of it at all. And he just thought, hey, that's one of our analysts who's really, I mean, the guy's kind of a weirdo. That's sort of the story. You know, like, hey, you've got to defend a savant with getting signs. Like, I give him that sliver of a doubt. But you don't get that doubt, and you're still going to have to pay for your price, which I think if they could sign off on this three-game suspension with the NCAA as well,
Starting point is 01:00:24 they should as quickly as they can because they're going to start digging more. That was part of the taking the suspension was, hey, Big Ten, you guys stop snooping around. We'll take it. We'll just we'll just suck it up. We'll see if we can win out. We can still play for the championship. I think they should take that same deal with the NCAA if they could. That's what I thought the Big Ten was. Their main motivation was, is, you know, we've been trailing behind the SEC here for years. We do not want to eliminate one of our
Starting point is 01:00:50 own from a chance of getting our conference a national championship. So I thought that was probably the priority for the conference, and I don't blame them for that, to be honest with you. Yeah, I would have done the same thing. I don't think the SEC would have knocked out one of their national title contenders.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Nope. They wouldn't have. All right. Happy birthday, man. I know it's a big one. It is. A man never shares his age. That's right.
Starting point is 01:01:16 Big four or five. Looking great. Jordan baseball. Pedro. A little Pedro for you. Thanks as always. Danny Knapp. All right A little Pedro for you. Thanks as always. Danny Knoll. All right, man.
Starting point is 01:01:26 See you. They say money can't buy happiness. Look at the fucking smile on my face. Ear to ear, baby. You want details? Fine. I drive a Ferrari. 355 Cabriolet.
Starting point is 01:01:42 What's up? I have a ridiculous house in the South Fork. I have every toy you could possibly imagine. And best of all, kids, I am liquid. So now you know what's possible. Let me tell you what's required. Life advice. The email address is lifeadvicerr at gmail.com.
Starting point is 01:02:01 As a special holiday bonus to the audience. Uh, we're going to do a Friday feedback. Let's just call it a mailbag, but the email address is Friday feedback, r r at gmail.com. Um, so any kind of mailback mailbag type question, anything you want to ask us or whatever,
Starting point is 01:02:16 we'll hammer out four or five of those. Uh, as Rudy has made it home from Vegas, Kyle's back in LA as well. And I bailed, uh, and actually drove back early yesterday and tape red zone and then got caught up, uh, on the games. So it's funny because we had a Friday email. You weren't here for it. Saruti where the guy was like, yeah, we had three dudes in Vegas and then a guy stayed an extra day and then the other guy decided to change his mind
Starting point is 01:02:46 and like left early and that guy's mad and called him selfish and whatever I literally just after I read the email Friday I just did it to my buddy this weekend so I happens it happens that's what we said I just listened to that this morning literally on the flight I got stuck in Minneapolis for an extra
Starting point is 01:03:01 day good times great airport yeah it actually is a nice airport. But I thought you guys handled that very well. But also, the guy you were with, Ryan, he was pumped to be. He wanted to get after it, right? And I could see you just wanted to get home. So I think if you don't have the same vibe going, it's okay to split ways. I expected to get more after it on Saturday than I did.
Starting point is 01:03:25 And I was kind of baking that into the calculus of like, okay, you're still going to have to watch all the games and do your routine. And then, you know, Monday's a really early start for me. So I was like, I might as well just suck it up and stay here, you know,
Starting point is 01:03:34 do whatever. And, uh, he, and, and to be fair to myself on this one, because he didn't have any issue with, well,
Starting point is 01:03:43 I mean, we've known each other 25 years. So I was like, look, he goes, are you staying Sunday night? I go, I think so. Because the way the work, it's just hard for me to go and do anything. And then after it took me eight hours to drive in on Wednesday, I was like, let me make sure I don't make that Sunday mistake. Because if you leave Vegas late Sunday and then head to California, it's a nightmare. All right. It's just a reminder of like, hey, I guess this place is pretty popular. Although the casinos were way below what you'd expect because of the whole F1 thing. And that's a whole other topic where I think apparently everybody tried to price everybody
Starting point is 01:04:13 out of it. And then people get scared and they were trying to make it up later on. I could do 30 minutes on that, but I'm not even sure how accurate my info is other than hearing people bitch about it for five, six straight days. So he was like, do you think you're staying? And I go, right now my plan is to stay, but there's always a chance I wake up Sunday and say, I'm over it and I'm out of here. And he was like, no problem. So it was already a bit understood. So he changed his. And then Sunday morning, he's like, Hey, I'm switching to your hotel. And I go, you know what? I feel great. I go, I feel great. And I'm kind of, it'd take me 30 seconds to pack this thing up. I'm like, I'm getting in the car and I'm out of here tape what i need to on youtube tv and then i'll just get caught up
Starting point is 01:04:48 and do the show back at home and he was like awesome it's like maybe i'll have more fun without you so so what did he do did he would he did you know did he get after it he just stayed yeah he did we haven't talked yet so um solo vegas time is yeah yeah So the race was sick though. Um, so two things I want to thank the F1 experience, Mandy at F1 experience for hosting us. Um, it was incredible, like right at the start, right at the finish. Um, we were actually, I think turn four over there. So it was like a really good deal. And it was the way to do it. And then I want to thank Aston Martin for hosting us at the Team Paddock where we were right above the garage. We could see everybody
Starting point is 01:05:35 come in and do the pits. And it was actually a really fun race. And I bet Verstappen. There's also a slight debate over a lost winner on the Rockets. There's a lost ticket. Yeah. So that was a winner. But Kyle, I did a little recon for you. We did some Old Vegas on Friday night. We hit up the El Cortez where my buddy could not stop winning. Everything he did, he won.
Starting point is 01:06:00 I mean, he was just DJ Khaled the entire shift, just chilling it. That's great. And then we stopped at Atomic Liquors at the end of Fremont, which we were in the cab. And I go, you know, it's crazy. 20 years of coming here, I've never spent any time over on Old Vegas side. Never. And now I like it, if not more, because the casino thing of never leaving the strip and strips so hard to walk around.
Starting point is 01:06:27 It's sort of a pain in the ass. So we did some old Vegas recon because I got to be back there. What? A couple of weeks. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For the bill show is the old Vegas.
Starting point is 01:06:37 What is that? Like the Sinatra shit? Is that what we're talking about? Like the, you know, the rat pack? What is that? Yeah. Am I off on this? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:06:45 I don't know much about it. It's just like the old Vegas crew. It's all those old dudes. It seems kind of dope. It's very nostalgic. I believe they hung out in both areas. I don't think they were enclosed or anything. As soon as you get off the exit, there's a hotel
Starting point is 01:07:02 that says Elvis slept here. Perfect. If you go to the El get off the exit there's a hotel that says elvis slept here and then perfect if you go to the el cortez history there's a bunch of ownership changes that may be super entertaining if i don't know what depends on what you want to read but then you know my buddy's just owning the blackjack table and he likes to like talk but he's he's foreign so he kind of gets away with it. Although he's also not foreign, if that makes any sense. It's hard to explain. He's really big, so that's another factor that helps him out. But he's just winning constantly. The fucking slot machine went bananas. I had to bring him over another bucket. These old guys started just mingling around like, oh my God.
Starting point is 01:07:41 Video poker, he nails it, even though the poker buttons got stuck because they weren't super clean. So I'd be like, so what does this mean? I just got to, I got to stand on seven against a 20 because the button's stuck. Like, no, this kind of sucks. Like it's not, the hit button is stuck. And he's like, ah, I don't know what to tell you. So then my friend's like, what are the room rates here man i'm like i'm getting comfortable you need a comp and then we looked it up i think they were 30 bucks so if you if you like grittiness i think the the marquee outside said it was voted vegas's number one casino which i think that that might be up for debate and then vegas's most available casino. Yeah. Right. And then on like on the same marquee, it said subway 24 seven. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:29 Which, which was sandwiches. Yeah. Yeah. So you don't see that. The number one thing is just ridiculous. Like how did, how, what is that loophole where anyone could just say they're the number one thing? Cause that's not like, it's not quantifiable, right?
Starting point is 01:08:42 It's just number one. World's best coffee. Like the number one most bought or it's number yeah world's best number one like fucking geniuses whoever found a way to listen to podcast yeah there you go you just start throwing it around some people some people do it yeah there you go um so i can't are you going to the next vegas show for bill's thing kyle are you now off of that? No, I bowed out of that one. I bowed out of it officially while I was in Vegas. I'm like, I'm not coming back here in a couple weeks.
Starting point is 01:09:09 No way. I will be there. But I'm in and out. I'm in Tuesday, out Thursday. I can't be. Unless the Magic somehow make the semifinals. I don't have to adjust my plans, which, listen, eight and five,
Starting point is 01:09:21 three-game winning streak, no big deal. That defense, who knows? What's up? Who knows what's going to happen? Between the basketball and the show, I don't know. I don't know if I get an A for this weekend or an F. You did alright.
Starting point is 01:09:37 Yeah, I don't know. I got in the elevator after the race and I was just over it. Some guy recognized me. He was the girl. And he was like, hey, you're a... I was like, yeah. And she's like, who are you?
Starting point is 01:09:52 I'm like, yeah, she didn't fucking care. And I was like, oh, whatever. She's like, you seem really bored and out of it. Okay. It's like, all right. It's elevator talk. I was like, I've been here five days. We're good. Okay, let's like, it's like, I've been here five days. We're good.
Starting point is 01:10:05 Okay. Let's get to the, uh, advice. So, um, five 11, tell people I'm six feet.
Starting point is 01:10:12 No judging one 85, one 90 at an age where I'm switching to lower resistance workouts. A comp would be a poor man's BJ Armstrong. I used to bring the ball up in high school. There you go. 38 years old, happily married in the Milwaukee suburbs, three kids. I'm almost completely off social media because I think it's annoying.
Starting point is 01:10:30 I have a Twitter account that I use just for news. Don't post anything. And an Instagram account I barely open. I have Snapchat on my phone that I use just because my wife and younger siblings and their kids use it. A few weeks ago, I got a snap. It sounds weird saying that. We can already hear this guy talking out loud. Like he doesn't even want to type that sentence out.
Starting point is 01:10:51 So I guess, no, we're on your side. It sounds weird saying that. So from a college ex-girlfriend, don't know how she got my number or snap name thing or whatever. It just started as a casual possible. Hey, long time is very passive. Not a big deal. A week ago out of nowhere,
Starting point is 01:11:03 she sends me nudes in some descriptive language, if you know what I mean. We do non-virgin podcast, dude, about our time together in college, which was, yes, pretty crazy. And her telling me if we would ever meet up, it would be even crazier. Oh, yeah. Look, I'm telling you that there's that weird divorce window from the college crew where it's you're back in in a way that you're like you cannot fathom right and you must have been an awesome hookup dude yeah congrats yeah still thinking about you uh you know almost 20 years later but yeah they're depending on what your college deal was there there can be this you know some of you guys in
Starting point is 01:11:52 your late 20s early 30s you're going to think this is impossible there's going to be this second window of divorced people both male and female that you're just going to be thinking about how much more fun it was in college. Yeah. Fuck it. You know? Blame up shots. I'm paying alimony now. Let's fire off some snaps. I've earned this.
Starting point is 01:12:15 Remember Earth Rock Science? That sweater you used to wear? Okay. Keep it moving. Now I want no part of any of this and haven't even responded. She texted me the next day. She said she got really drunk, didn't know what she sent, et cetera. She apologized.
Starting point is 01:12:28 My question for life advice is do I tell my wife what happened or I just not respond and block her as a contact? The wife and I are very honest with each other about everything. But on the other side of it, do I even need the headache if nothing will come of this? On the other hand, if this were for some reason to get back to my wife, she'd ask why I didn't tell her about it. You know, kind of can't win. Like I said, I like being married, so I don't have to fuck with any of this stuff anymore. I'll admit my college years and 20s was a little crazy and I'm glad I had fun, but it's definitely out of my system and exhausted just thinking about having to deal with this. Exhausted seems aggressive.
Starting point is 01:13:00 But here's the thing. I think you don't have the problem most people have with this you don't want to engage okay and i would tell you more than half the guys even if they were happy their marriage and whatever that excitement that little twinkle of new attention is is hard to resist and the fact that you are resisting it and it also depends on like how cool your wife is it appears i'm gonna even go it also depends on how cool your wife is. It appears, I'm going to even go with the Milwaukee thing, that your wife is pretty cool.
Starting point is 01:13:28 I would tell her, normally as I was reading it, I was like, who cares? Just delete it. It's not a big deal. But what you don't want is this girl may be a loose cannon, and you can't have her, as you just said, you have Snapchat on your phone for other people to use it. So if there was ever a deleted everything and then a random month from now hey i really regret what happened dot dot dot whatever and somebody else were to see it specifically your wife or your kids like hey you have a message you
Starting point is 01:13:57 know well i don't know then you'd have to go back and explain all these things so i'm assuming your wife is pretty cool about it. Um, she's probably going to like, at some point she's probably not going to love it, but that I actually think that's the best thing because you sound like you have all of your shit together as far as like how you feel about your marriage and like where you're in it. And I really don't want to judge anybody. Um, I know it's easy to say do this or don't do that. But I'll tell you, the other epiphany you have as you get older and you start talking to your friends is like marriage. Not that this is breaking news that marriage is hard, but I am less judgmental about things I
Starting point is 01:14:36 hear about as I start to understand the challenges of marriage. And I'll just leave it at that. the challenges of marriage. And I'll just leave it at that. But you deserve credit here. And I think to avoid some weird follow-up from her, if she's willing to almost 20 years later, fire off nudes and say, let's get down again out of nowhere, who knows what she could do the next time around. And then you may have to explain that one. And then you didn't give any of the backdrop. So now you're actually in trouble for something that you had nothing to do with. So I actually would come clean on this. I mean, I was initially going to say absolutely not just block delete, because the thing about Snapchat is like, I don't know what it is about it.
Starting point is 01:15:17 But I think when you're not a teenager and you're still using Snapchat, there's just something like, what are you up to on there? But I know that you like you have it because other people are using. I mean, what did you not get people cell phones or something like what are you up to on there but i know that you like you have it because other people are using i mean what did you not get people cell phones or something like i don't i don't understand you have kids that that are the kids young or something but like i don't think you need to have this on the phone at all if you're saying you think you do because your kids use it like i don't know maybe just christmas is coming get him a fucking old iphone or something but i think like i think you should just keep snapchat out of your life uh anyway but i think you're right that like if somebody especially if somebody's
Starting point is 01:15:49 going through this you know app on your phone for you know their own reasons and then like i was gonna say block but then they can i think look into the block contacts it's like who's mary xoxo like who the fuck is that it's not you know it's not one of Johnny's friends. Like what? So I think I could see that maybe coming. Raw dog Jane. What's her name? Yeah, I could see. She's a weather reporter. I could see why you, it might be better to just come clean through this. I was thinking if you're, you know, if you could just make the, like the jump to be like,
Starting point is 01:16:19 yeah, I don't have Snapchat. I don't like having stuff and I don't like having this thing on my phone anymore. And people are adding me from phone numbers and I don't like it. So I'm just off of it. Can you just be like the old man yells at cloud? Like, I'm sorry. I know it's easier for whoever it is that wants me to keep this on my phone. I'm not doing it anymore. You could just say that, you know, you want one less thing on your phone and you didn't respond. So that's nice. You know, if there are receipts of some kind, it shows that you just were kind of assaulted with this not to get too dramatic about it so you're minding your own business so i would i would probably just delete the whole thing and
Starting point is 01:16:49 just that'd be the last time i have snapchat on my phone i uh i quit snapchat years ago i had it probably in my mid to late 20s and then i just had yeah i had no use for it at all my wife still uses it you know she gets pictures from the family whatever but you're right kyle it is it's like it is a shady ass app like the point like You send pictures that then disappear 10 seconds later. And it tells you if you screenshot it. So I want to know part of it. I'm not interested. But I do know if I was in this guy's situation,
Starting point is 01:17:17 I actually think I would. You hit the nail on the head, Ryan. It's all about your relationship with your wife. I would definitely tell my wife, not because I'm a simp or some loser or whatever i just think it's funny like that we would we would laugh about this i'm secure enough to be like this is funny i think she's secure enough to be like this is also funny and not get mad um but it also is a good ego boost for you right because this girl's still out there and she's still kind of thinking about you so i think this is a win-win all around if you're nice to be like if your wife
Starting point is 01:17:41 really gets again it's all about what your wife's temperament, what she's like, what her personality is like. But if she gets mad at you, that seems insane. Like you're being honest. You make a joke out of it. It's funny. You didn't really pursue it. I mean, it's a total freaking red card, too. I mean, even if you want to go down that road, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:17:59 This doesn't seem like the girl to do it with. But I would tell your wife because I just don't think you have anything to lose. Why is she going to get mad at you about this? You're wife because I just don't think you have anything to lose. She's not. Why is she going to get mad at you about this? You're being honest about it. You didn't do anything. If you didn't respond, then you have nothing to hide. I do think if you delete the app, that's a little bit suspicious.
Starting point is 01:18:12 Kyle, I'll be honest. I don't know. You think so? I mean, without saying it outwardly, he's outwardly the guy that doesn't like social media. Like you said, like, like I'm like for me, I'm like praying that Elon's like, all right, everyone has to pay two dollars a year because that'll be just to push out the door to kick me off twitter and then it's like now it's just instagram facebook was an easy slash i had some devastated great ants but they
Starting point is 01:18:33 they understand now they're all good and so now i'm down to two and i'd like to i'd like to pare it down to one so maybe he could if that's his personality already i don't think it would be suspicious but you know what it's two out of three saying you should tell her. So I'll hop on that train and yeah, you should tell her the only thing I would say, like, but even though it's not you, the thing still happened, even though you didn't do it.
Starting point is 01:18:51 And like, like you said, it's just what kind of person is she is now? Are you going to get texts? And she's going to be like doing the half joking, like, Oh, who's that?
Starting point is 01:18:58 You know, there's sort of a, there's a little truth in Jess. I'm just wondering if, if that could happen. I don't think that really has no reason. I don't think it's any harm in that. i've told the story i think before of like one of my my wife is a realtor she like one of her like clients basically was like sending her him
Starting point is 01:19:12 her selfies of himself he's like a dude in his 50s and she told me and we laughed about it was really funny so i this is like i kind of feel like a similar situation you just kind of laugh it off if you have that relationship yeah sure except for he's like a business person and maybe would be able to you know he has their like number this person only has your like snap right but i guess not yeah i agree with you guys the old guy's selfie move like if i know i'm not the youngest guy but if you're like a lot older selling sending girls that are young selfies of you just doing stuff i'm gonna tell you the hit rate on that is real low it was a bad selfie uh it was i'm gonna be honest with the angle wasn't right yeah a lot of chin um not great i don't want to give away too much here
Starting point is 01:19:57 i don't want to give away too much here i kind of do though because i'll see this person like provide some content and i'm like what the fuck and then because i was uh i don't know i think i was a trusted source when i was at espn not to the audience but to co-workers and there was one guy that used to love like taking selfies of himself walking and he would send it was nothing like it wasn't aggressive it was just bad it was fucking lame and they'd be like dude man look who sent me a selfie of himself just going for a walk and i'd be like does he think he has a chance she's like i don't know can you translate this i was like i think this is sort of a heads up like hey check me out and they were so like they weren't not like his shirt was off anything. It was nothing nefarious.
Starting point is 01:20:45 It wouldn't it wouldn't be like even an HR violation, but it was just so desperate and fucking lame that I was like, I might not ever listen to anything that person says. We'll leave it at that. Leave it nice and vague. Boomer and Gen X selfies are entertaining, to say the least, because they just they just don't know how to do it man and it's like my parents like my mom will send when i'm like this is like you you're killing yourself mom like this is you look better than this like what are you doing to yourself like i know i don't know but the looking down thing yeah like it's like there's just it's all chin and i'm like what what are we doing here no there seems to be some weird filter, although I may have it on my phone because I took a picture of myself with the Aston Martin paddock.
Starting point is 01:21:29 And it's I didn't take it wasn't a selfie. My buddy took it after, I think, a few libations. And the picture is terrible. And it's me. So it's a bad pick anyway. On top of everything else. The pose is terrible. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:41 And I'm trying to have that Aston Martin green, that podium green shine through on the back. I'll probably post it. I'll probably post it with something, whatever. All right, let's get to another one here. Do we cover it? Am I cutting you off, Rudy? No, we're good. I heard some noises. I just didn't want anyone to feel
Starting point is 01:21:59 unfulfilled. Okay, trying to sleep with my mom's employee. 6'2", 30. First team all-meet player comp, Trevor Booker. That to sleep with my mom's employee, six foot 230, first team all meet player comp Trevor Booker. That's one of my favorite comps ever. 26 year old guy living in the Southeast, fresh out of a three and a half year relationship. Things have been going pretty well thanks to Hinge. So I'm getting back into the groove of a single life. My mom owns and runs a pretty prominent local business. He tells us, I will not share. And oddly enough, only hires attractive women in and around my range.
Starting point is 01:22:34 Although I would say for the business, which I'm not going to say, that is kind of what I see out there. So it makes sense to be attractive younger women in this industry, not strippers. But I've always been tied down. Yeah, right. My mom runs a strip joint. Her co-workers are hot. I've always been tied down. Yeah, right. My mom runs a strip joint. Her coworkers are hot. I've always been tied down, so there's never been any attempts to take somebody out. Recently, thanks to being newly single, I've matched with one of her more attractive employees on the app,
Starting point is 01:22:58 and it started as a simple, ha-ha, funny seeing you here, how are things at the office type of conversation. Through a bit of chit-chat, she begins to be a bit more flirtatious, asking me if I was single, why I was on the app, asking me what I'm doing this weekend. It gives me her number without prompt. Well, I mean, you guys were talking a little bit. I mean, in your 20s is kind of the way the world is supposed to work. My point, there is clearly a mutual attraction between us, but I'm not trying to jump back into a relationship after just getting out of one. How should I approach the situation with trying to engage in some casual adult fun while also
Starting point is 01:23:23 towing the line of, hey, you work for my mom. Do I have to worry about my, any repercussions of my mom or to find out that I'm sleeping with one of her employees? Should I stay away entirely to avoid workplace drama on her behalf? Um, well, obviously you're not Jonathan craft here,
Starting point is 01:23:39 right? I mean, what the fuck? You're not going to, you're not going to take over, right? And it's going to be weird eventually, right?
Starting point is 01:23:44 You got your own ambitions. I think that's fine. Everyone mind their own business and never the twain shall meet. I think it's weirder for her than it is for you. I think you're fine. It's like, does she want to date the boss's son? That to me is kind of the dilemma here.
Starting point is 01:23:59 So I think you're kind of all right. Yeah, it sounds like he won't be dating. Yeah, I mean, it sounds as if he has no desire to be dating somebody at this point because of the long relationship he likes the run he's on um i think the trevor booker thing alone tells me great personality six foot 230 thick good thick who knows it seems like good and bad thick are both in right now uh he's kind of funny so he said he's crushing it and then she's hot and she works with the mom and she's like hey i want to go out this weekend so this guy i feel good about this guy without seeing him don't you
Starting point is 01:24:36 know just send us a pic just imagining it all so it clearly you're gonna have some other options i mean this always comes down to the basic math of, well, you know, you're going to end up doing it. So, like, who are we kidding? I think Cerruti's point is the right one, though. Isn't this a bit more on her? So, should you be so accommodating? Should you be so mature? I don't know if chivalrous
Starting point is 01:24:58 is the right word here, that you would say, despite your interest, I don't think that would be good for you. There's also the mom factor. Like, what's your mom going to be like? Like, my mom would, in the past, try to set me up with everyone. Same. And I think she went 0 for 20 and stopped.
Starting point is 01:25:23 Just Jordan Poole out there. Right. Right. So she stopped. Um, but she would only look at it as like, I want my son to be happy and you should meet him and whatever. Okay. And I'd be like, no, thank you. Don't do that. I'm not interested. I don't know what this guy's mom is like. Is the mom like, hey, this is great? Or is the mom like, I can't believe you're doing this and it's screwed up? How secret does this have to be? If we're just talking about hanging out for a weekend and you're like, hey, no one can ever know that we're doing this and then it runs its course. I mean, that's the shit like this happens all the time. But I, I think you have to get on the same page with her, but this is always the problem with relationships. Like nobody in the beginning goes, Hey, I probably just want to sleep with you a few times and then move on to the next person. I sleep. Cool. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:39 Cool. Yeah. Right. Because rarely would the other person be like, that's awesome be the least disappointed out of this trio. It sounds like you don't care either way. How disappointed would she be and how disappointed would your mom be? And if you think that those are high projections, then if you're doing this well on Hinge, maybe you don't need to do this. If you were somebody else going, I haven't talked to a girl in two years, like we already know, you're not even sending us an email. It's already happened. It sounds like you have
Starting point is 01:27:07 more options, so I would factor that into the decision-making as well. Also, does the mom like this girl? Do you know that? Do we have any information on that? We don't know. If she does, if it's someone that she is friendly with, has a good relationship with,
Starting point is 01:27:23 you probably, as the son, don't want to screw that up um and then vice versa if she doesn't like her it's probably also not not a great situation either so that i think that's kind of important info for us to know here like if you know because then you then you can get in a situation where like say you start hooking up with this girl and your mom gets whiff of it and she's like oh my god this is incredible and you're not even into her then you disappoint the girl and your mom. Like this is, then you're in way too deep and you have to end up dating someone for six months just to not feel bad. I think there's like a happy medium between top secret and like, hi, you know, hi mom, bringing this girl over for dinner. Right. Everyone could just mind their own business. I think that's totally fine. Right. I mean,
Starting point is 01:28:02 don't breathe. Don't be showing up with Duncan and be like, hey, mom. And, you know, here this is heating up i think this is totally fine and the and the and the let's not tell anyone about this is kind of fun for a week or two as well right so i don't know i just say just say run with it and uh you know you'll know if it's getting out of hand or not but i don't think we're there yet more of a pizza roll sky but yeah sure spanta bagels that's what i was thinking sorry The emailer sounding like he has multiple options tells me, like if you're bringing it up to us, it means you're thinking about some of the downside stuff. Guys with very limited options, I'm on your side.
Starting point is 01:28:56 You know, I'd be like, hey, roll the dice, see what happens here. But he's 26, plays hoops like Trevor Booker. You know, I think there's going to be a lot of options out there for him. And I can't share the town, but the town is like, you'll be fine in that town. It's a good town. All right. That's life advice. And again,
