videos I'm making with you are
absolutely beloved
and appreciated by the community Dave
you're doing a huge service to
all the people who need their
daily
hatred to spew on you
they can watch the YouTube video and take out all theirw on you. They can watch the YouTube video and
take out all their aggression on you
that's misplaced from their bad upbringing as children.
All 200 of your followers?
Actually, the videos are getting great feedback.
Oh, I can't hear you.
Turn yourself up a little.
I said all 200 of your followers?
Correct.
Correct.
I said all 200 of your followers?
Correct.
Correct.
Should we just do a speed round and just get through this?
You know what someone said in the comments yesterday?
They said that we were both – they're like, man, I've never seen two guys who are more aloof.
You were definitely aloof yesterday.
I mean that could be one.
But I was not aloof and I resent that. You're just – you've been awake for –
Hey, dogs are fighting. Dogs are that. You're just, you've been awake for 15.
Hey, dogs are fighting.
Dogs are fighting.
Meshie.
Meshie, come.
Is the small dog dead?
Oh.
You've been awake for 15 hours, right?
What time did you wake up?
Dave? I'm thinking five and it's uh 9 30 so at 5 p.m it
would be 12 hours four and a half so you've been awake for 17 and a half hours did you have a good
day today yeah um even though the individuals didn't go were were you tending to the junior class and the elderly?
Teams, mostly.
Did you see Hobart compete?
I didn't get to see him compete.
Oh, dude, it went down to the wire against Kasper Bauer.
It was a war.
It was awesome.
Did he beat him?
No.
He won a bunch of events in the end, but Kasper Bauer ended up taking first and Hobart took second.
But Hobart was like the Pat Vellner of the 35 to 39 class.
He had to fight back out of a hole.
You'd be proud of him.
I am proud of him.
He's a good dude.
He is a good dude.
He is a good guy.
And then another fascinating thing that happened. What? I said he's your guy. Yeah, he's uh he is a good guy and then another fascinating thing that happened
what i said he's your guy yeah he's my guy he's your guy too i think doesn't he work for crossfit
yeah he does another fascinating thing is is do you know who susan clark is
just say yes god damn it she's 65 and over woman in the master's category and i didn't know who
she was either but i was getting schooled about her today from brian she just won her fifth
crossfit games oh yeah yeah i know who that is that's crazy right yeah no i didn't recognize
no i don't know who that is and that is crazy i should know that but there's a lot of divisions a lot of people a lot of divisions which brings me to my next question which i think we're going to see
eye to eye on or we could not and fight a little bit why are there 38 teams
have you ever thought about maybe just having 12 teams okay greg oh man oh man do you think 38 teams is too many sorry i'll
be a little i'll act like a journalist davy fantastic event the crossfit games i noticed
you had 38 teams how do you come up with 38, I'm not going to answer that for you, but the answer is out there,
and the format's been described, and the reasons for the format is out there.
You just have to do some work and pay attention.
Next year, will there be just as many teams, or do you think you'll cut it down?
Do you feel like it's too many?
I don't think we'll cut it down.
Okay.
Ron Ortiz, you mentioned that yesterday you gave him the orange and teal hat,
and today he took second place.
Would there be any chance you would reconsider maybe taking the hat away from him
and giving it to one of my coworkers?
No.
Because I wouldn't think you'd want a second-place dude wearing the TDC hat.
Keep going.
When I was watching, I made fun of the 65 and over class today.
When I was watching the Masters compete, they were doing double unders out on the turf.
And seriously, it looked like CrossFit satire.
The double unders were so fucking bad.
It looked like a three-year-old kid trying to
catch a butterfly with a net. And then Velner slapped me around a little bit when I interviewed
him today. And he said, dude, have you ever tried to do double unders on turf? He's like,
the rope hits that shit and just screws you all up. He goes, it's not easy. Was that part of the plan to challenge them with that?
Yes, for sure.
I don't believe you.
No, we know.
I mean, we've done double unders on the turf before, and whenever we program them, we know that's challenging.
Okay.
You should go watch the video.
It's amazing.
I was told today, I was asking Danielle Brandon today whether she thought there was going to be a bike event.
And she said, absolutely.
And I said, why do you say that?
She said she saw the bikes.
I go, where did you see the bikes?
And she said, I saw them on Dave's Instagram.
I saw him showing a bicycle and dumbbells. And I watch your Instagram pretty closely.
So I'm guessing that you accidentally showed it and then erased it or something like that could you enlighten us you did an interview with danielle brandon
buddy i've been buddy i am the leading content producer from my palatial three
brothers three playing brothers estate uh for the crossFit Games this year.
Who else did you interview today?
So we're, I'm just curious, did I miss something?
I want to know who you interviewed.
The Jukic brothers.
Okay.
Patrick Vellner.
Okay. Danielle Brandon. Danielle Brandon
Danielle Brandon
I'd have to go look at my YouTube
I don't remember
I don't remember
others
I'm busy
say that again
trying to promote your channel
yeah yeah
I told
I told Danielle Brandon
and I told actually
all three of them
thank you for keeping me relevant
thank you for like
letting me use the CrossFit Games as a launching pad as I break into the UFC and take over there.
What did they say about day one?
So you don't want to talk about the dumbbells and the bikes?
I just want to ask you a few questions.
What did they say about day one?
Have you thought about starting your own podcast?
What did they say about day one?
Have you thought about starting your own podcast?
Today when I was looking around for content, it's so sparse.
I heard Roy Dunst and Rich talking about the use of the flippers on the Mayhem Empire podcast.
But I'm not sure I understood correctly, but I think Royce's position on it was that,
hey, these flippers were not a good idea.
They're basically just a scaled version of the swim,
and that if you want to,
if you wanted to make the swim easier, you should have just made it shorter.
It's not a scaled version. That's inaccurate.
And maybe I misunderstood, but either way, it sounds like he'd be a good guy to get on your team for setting up workouts for next year. He seems to know a lot.
I like all the hey to the fins you know where's their
next year it will be muscle ups but with do they make hand fins
keep chirping not you but keep chirping about how you the fins are a scale
um uh do you um do they make
hand fins when you were in the service and you would swim did you ever have like things that
went on your hands that helped you swim better yeah they do they do make those they're trainers
yeah you got to put those on them and make them do bar muscle-ups the people who complain
um we're um uh there's not there's there's not a lot of stuff out there i just tried to watch
um the buttery bros just put something out from day one um
there's just not a lot of stuff out there but so big you just got to keep you i've just but i've
been trying to dig um so i've been just doing my own interviews who else did I interview? I interviewed someone else today I can't remember one of the athletes told me that you sized them for
yokes but I haven't
seen the yokes talked about in any
of your briefs yet
did I miss something? Are there yokes in the games this year?
we did
size them for yokes, there will be yokes in the games this year? We did size them for yokes.
There will be yokes in the games,
and that will be one of the best visually
and severe tests that we do in this weekend.
I like that, severe and best visually it reminds me of the story taylor self told us when
he was uh went out to flip the pig he got pushed down into the splits that's severe and great visual
uh have you ever asked matt freight did you well have you ever asked matt fraser to be on the demo
team no um he he's at the games would you consider and i know before you've had some sort of like
guest people on the demo team you know like an athlete that you know was done or something got
to tag along,
would you ever consider if he wanted to, um, letting him test one of the workouts or be like
your, your demo guy at one of the events? If he, if he said, Hey Dave, could I, you would? No,
maybe next year. Probably not. Does he not, he doesn't have the criteria to be on the demo team.
He's too famous.
It would be a distraction.
No, I mean, he said no to us plenty of times already.
Why do I want to ask to have him say no?
Oh, I didn't know that.
Yeah, yeah.
I didn't know that.
You know, he got all upset because we invited the more qualified athlete and Jason Kalipa to the invitational.
And so he said no.
Every year after that invitational, we asked him to the invitationals
and he said no and enjoyed saying no so uh i'm not gonna ask him to be you're kind you're like
heartbroken like you asked him to marry you five times and he and he took the ring and threw it
back at you and like you're not gonna ask you no not heartbroken at all like it does not even a
thought until you ask the question like it doesn't cross my mind should i ask him to be because you know
what he's gonna say right like you know i know everyone knows what he'd say to that so why even
go there yeah but sometimes i invite people to like someone will tell me they're leaving town
for like two weeks and that will be the week i invite them over to my house knowing that they're leaving town.
Thank you.
Are you – the athletes have contracts with all of these different people.
Like they had Reebok sponsorships and the athletes would have Noble sponsorships.
Do you personally have a sponsorship with Noble or any of the CrossFit brands out there?
No.
Are you allowed to be sponsored?
I don't know.
Probably not.
I haven't pursued it.
I mean, it would be weird if you sold your programming on sugar.
Go ahead.
Yeah.
No, probably not.
The situation, the whole layout, it all needs to be explored.
Meaning, it's not a simple yes or no
I believe
right because you work in the ecosystem
and it couldn't look like home cooking
like you couldn't invent some grippers
and then put them in the game
so you made 12 million dollars on the sale of grippers
yeah
I only ask
because so many people are asking
about TDC like shirts and hats.
It's like, unfortunately, my DMs are filled up with that.
So I'm just wondering if you're ever going to do that.
Jeez, I mean, that, like, fuck, I'm thinking about doing that.
That's not a sponsorship.
Like, selling that hat is not.
I think you're conflating two things that are completely different things.
You asked me about sponsoring.
Right, I understand.
Selling a hat, I think that's something different.
I know. I already asked that the other day,
so I'm just tiptoeing around it.
It's a cousin of that.
Yeah.
The judges.
Who are the head judges at the CrossFit Games?
Mm-hmm. Sorry, I know. This is a loaded question. Who are the head judges at the CrossFit Games?
Sorry, I know this is a loaded question.
You know where I'm going with this?
They're all head judges, my friend.
I'm pretty sure that the, as I understand correctly,
Chuck Carswell is a head judge.
Correct. Right?
And Adrian Bosman is a head judge.
Correct. Is Adrian Bosman is a head judge. Correct.
Is that correct?
And I don't know if he still is, but I think that Todd Widman used to be a head judge.
He was kids, Chuck was old people, and Adrian was individual.
You're somewhat not right at all, but you're almost there.
Okay.
Oh, which brings me to another question to mention to you we spoke to daniel brandon today about her run event and about how sam briggs
stepped up i got the details on that um uh so but but it's been brought to my attention that
everyone's wearing a shirt that says head judge on it was that is that like a printing error
or does that have to do with, were you guys trying to do,
what's that called?
Equity?
You guys were trying to do equity?
Pardon me?
I haven't dug into it.
So ideally the head judges
would have head judge shirts
and the judges would have judge shirts.
Somewhere, you know, new partner new partner new team things moving fast somewhere some wires must have been crossed
i don't have the answer but that definitely is not the intent but it's also at the end of the day
not that big of a deal i agree i agree shit there's not a lot to talk about, buddy. I got to do what I got to do.
But I think it's funny.
I'm not trying to say that,
but I'm saying that impacts nothing, right?
Right.
No, no, absolutely not.
Matter of fact, maybe it's even better.
It only...
While I talk to you you're surfing
the web yeah god
you're a scumbag
come on buddy
so listen
it's like
as big of
a deal as that is it's so fucking small
right now with everything going on so I'll answer
the question.
I haven't gotten to the bottom of it because it just doesn't matter at this point.
Right.
You're focused on – you can't go over and punch someone in the throat right now for that.
You'll wait until the games are over.
Yeah.
I've noticed you have some really good photos on your Instagram account. And, um, I was wondering who's taking
those. Uh, there's a little team that's working it. Was it hard for you to hand over your,
your Instagram account to someone? No, not at all. Because some of the years where I didn't run it,
I didn't put it at all. So,, Emomphoto is taking the photos.
And how did you choose your photographer?
Emomphoto.
Because you knew I was too busy to do it?
How did you choose your photographer?
He takes good pictures.
I haven't even looked at my Instagram today.
I don't even know what I posted.
Except earlier I did some stories.
Is that person who does your Instagram, do they ever get into your DMs?
That would be bad.
That would be bad.
So I'll take that as a no.
Is there a chance that if Josh wins or if Jacob wins the fight,
that you would fight the winner?
No.
No?
I'm not desperate for attention like they are.
Okay, understood. Fair enough.
I'm not going to jump into a sport like that for fucking,
and I say that as a joke, desperate for attention,
but I'm not going to do that for the amount of money they're doing it for.
And I'm not going to do it to get my name out.
It's not.
And I'm a huge boxing fan and a purist.
And you know how I feel about boxing.
I won't even watch a fight with people who don't know boxing because I need to feel it and absorb it myself.
I don't want to hear people who don't know anything about the sport talking about it in a stupid way.
So I don't want to disrespect the sport by being someone who steps in the ring
and gets paid a lot of money because they are offering us,
those guys are getting a lot of money,
who has no real reason to be in the ring
other than the fact that I'm popular in the CrossFit community.
You know what I mean? Yeah, but you do train a lot and I know you would...
I train a lot, but I'm not a boxer. At the end of the day, I'm not a boxer.
Right. Okay. And to go back, I'd like to correct you on something you just said. You said that
you don't like to watch boxing with people who don't know a lot about boxing.
I just think that you just don't like to
watch boxing with anyone.
That's true too.
Yes. Period.
Or anything with anyone.
Yeah. Have you ever watched a boxing
match with the ghost?
With Robert?
I would love to watch a fight. Did I watch
a fight with Robert? I had Robert over at... What were we watching? I don't think it was a fight did I watch a fight with Robert I had Robert over
what were we watching
I don't think it was a fight
I think we might have watched
Super Bowl or something
it's been a while
but I don't think so
okay
and
I think that's it
I don't
I think that's it
I got two other silly questions
but that's it
you're off easy tonight
at 19 minutes
good I like it
yeah
